Unable to access a specific website

Question: Unable to access a specific website

I hope maybe you have some ideas to clear up this problem. The reason this is a real problem is that the website that cannot be accessed is the family's nonprofit foundation.

Two computers connected to a linksys router. One computer running xp and wired directly. The other computer running vista and connected via wireless network. Neither computer is able to access pimamotorsportspark.com.

I have deleted all the browser history and links. I have run ipconfig /flushdns. I have even moved them over to OpenDns.

Now the really interesting part. Their son comes over and connects his laptop to the router via the wireless network; and he is able to go right to the website.

I have run out of ideas. Any thing to try would be appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Unable to access a specific website

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Unable to access a specific website

Both systems are on ie7. I am going to move them to firefox just for a test.

I hope there is some expert here that can figure this one out. I have tried everything.

The website is www.streamingradioguide.com

I am unable to access it through Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Opera.

I am able to access it if I go into my AOL program and use the Explorer that comes with that.

I am able to ping the website, and changing the DNS server doesn't help at all.

I can't access it by using the http://64.202.100.247 directly either, unless I go into the AOL program.

I have checked the Host file, and nothing is wrong with it either. Any ideas? Thanks!

Answer:Unable to access one specific website

I got the answer to my own question. The website blocked me out because I have AVG antivirus, and it checks each web link for safety.

The website blocks those kinds of site out.

He will restore my access.

Hello!
I fixed my virus problems about 2 weeks ago via this website but now I am having a different problem.

I am not sure if it is a malware problem though.

I am unable to go to Nexon.net suddenly.
I have an Apple iPod which has a web browser and I am able to go on the website fine.

Also, I am using Windows XP Professional, AVG Antivirus, and I am on a firewall.

I have used Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and my default web browser, Mozilla Firefox.

Any help will be appreciated.

Today, my roommate apparently used my laptop without my knowledge, trying to "make my wireless network more secure" (or so he says.) In the process,he completely destroyed said network (so much for making it more secure) and I ended up not being able to use it at all.

After a call to tech support at my ISP, I was able to get it up and running again. I can access my email, use my P2P program, and access every website I've tried, except for one specific site. When I try to access that particular one, I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error page, and when I try to investigate further by clicking the "Diagnose Connection Problems" button, what comes up is "[This website] is not set up to establish a connection on port "World Wide Web" (HTTP)" with this computer."

I have never seen this error message before, and I was able to access this particular website with absolutely no problems, right up until this afternoon when my roommate fooled with my wireless connection. And, as I said, I can access every other website I want, just not this one. Could it be simply a matter of the server being busy/unavailable, or could there still be something screwy with my wireless network?

Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I am unable to access a specific website from my Linksys E1200 router. The Linksys router is able to access every other website that I tried except for this one particular website. I am able to ping the website just fine, but cannot access the site. I narrow it down to the router since every computer connected to the router is unable to access the specific website, but when I changed to my other router, I'm able to access the specific website. Any ideas?

Edit to add: I've tried disabling the firewall...powering down router for a while...tweaking the MTU setting. I'm totally at a lost on what could be the problem.

Hi! I'm hoping someone here may be able to help me. I've been a member of a bulletin board website for adoption for over four years. The site is IVFConnections.net (and .com usually works as well). The site is hosted by The Planet. The admin, unfortunately, has left the building on the site--for reasons unknown.

So after logging onto this site for the past 4 years, last week, I've been unable to access this site (I get a DNS error) from both of my home computers (laptop and PC.) I've contacted Comcast, reset my cable modem. I've contacted McAffee and all of my settings are just as they should be. I can access the site perfectly fine from work, my husbands work and other friends computers. I've asked others on the bulletin board if they are having issues and I seem to be the only one.

Today, Dell told me to reset my computers back to factory settings, as they were sure this would solve the problem. It did not and I still am unable to access the site.

I'm also using a Netgear wireless router for my laptop. I've disconnected the router and just used the PC hooked up directly to the modem and I'm still having the exact same issue.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? Does anyone have a "work-around" for me to use to login to the site? I appreciate any help.

I'm truely frustrated!

Hello, Thanks for this forum!I have an unusual issue that started happening on 1/02/2017.   A website that I use often (www.appraisersforum.com) stopped working for me.   Every other website I use pulls up fine, except this one.   This happens with every device in our home, using a wireless router.  This website tries to open, then times out.   I have posted the results below.    I have Googled the problem and have read from several websites that there might be a DNS problem, but with my limited computer skills, I'm reluctant to change my DNS settings without knowing that this is the problem.  Also, I have verified with the websites owner that I have not been "blocked" and that the website is working fine.     Does this issue sound familiar?    Any suggestions or assistance would be appreciated!   Thanks.    This page can?t be displayedTurn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting to https://appraisersforum.com  again. Working in a network environment, I'm able to log into a secured banking website from every computer except the one that I need to do it from. I'm not sure if IE is the culprit, but I'm out of other ideas. It's the only machine running XP on the network, but it was able to log in a few weeks ago and now it just says invalid user at every login attempt. The machine is able to surf to all other websites and I know it's not a username/password issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Hello, about a week ago, I began receiving an "unable to connect" message every time I tried to connect to The Kansas State Historical Society website
www.kshs.org. Prior to this occurring, my ISP, Frontier communications had a service outage and I had to contact them to go through a series of steps to restore service. Since then, my problem reared its ugly head. I am using a Windows 7 os, and have no apparent problems connecting to any other websites. This morning I stopped by the library and was able to pull up the site with no problem. I use this site frequently and could really use some advice. Thanks

I've searched around these forums and other forums for solutions, but nothing I've read has helped.

I'm trying to access my own website (www.fbod.net) and it won't load for me. I know for a fact that other people can access it. Nobody in my apartment can access the website (we're all on the same router).

I use Windows XP and Firefox. When I try to load the site I don't get an error, it just attempts to load indefinitely.

I have gone to Windows\system32\drivers\etc and checked the hosts file.

I've tried ipconfig /flushdns

I can ping the website and I get 4 packets sent, 4 packets received.

I cannot load the website by entering the IP adresss into the address window.

I cannot access my website through an FTP program. I get this error:
COMMAND:> LIST
STATUS:> Connecting data socket...
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list
STATUS:> 0 bytes in 90 seconds
COMMAND:> ABOR
STATUS:> Received 1009 bytes, Abnormal termination Click to expand...

I am able to access the website through a proxy site (www.phproxy.org).

As far as I know I don't have a firewall running.

I did find one website that suggested switching to a static IP, but when I tried that I lost my internet connection and it didn't come back until I reverted my settings. I may have just done it wrong, though.

Answer:Cannot Access a Specific Website

I forgot to mention, I cannot access the site through Internet Explorer 6 either.

First of all, Hello everyone.
I've been experiencing this problem ever since I bought a new laptop in march.
I just simply can't access to this website (it's a Korean website)

I thought it was a simple error on Google Chrome, so I tried to access it on IE, Firefox, etc. I always got the same results that I couldn't access it.

I'm not a computer expert, but I've tried to access the website with the ip address. I was able to go on the website, but when I wanted to proceed further into it (For example, reading an article), it would show me the same page as when I couldn't access to it.

Could anyone please help me out?
(Although none of you will able to read/understand what it says on the page, in case it might come to a use I'll leave the website)

????

*It is neither blocked on my firewall nor on my antivirus program.

Thank you

Hello,

I'm having trouble accessing a specific website, and I'm hoping someone will be able to help me diagnose or solve the problem. The website in question is www.barhah.com. This is not a continuous problem, I can get there most of the time, but a intermittetent intervals, usually lasting 2 to 3 hours, I get timeouts when attempting to visit the site. During these intervals some friends of mine verify that they can still get there, and I can still get there using a proxy, so the problem seems to be something on my end. This started about a week ago, and the access problems happen about once per day, but with no other pattern that I can see.

Solutions I've tried are:

- Using a different browser.
- Turning off my firewall.
- Rebooting my computer.
- Rebooting my router.

None of these have helped.

When unable to access the site, I get this traceroute:

I'd say it's a problem with your ISP, they probably are having routing issues on the network near you. I've seen this kind of thing a number of times with Comcast.

Here's a new one on me....

I can surf the web normally, everything works fine as always. I have a DSL connection, and all my downloads, surfing and other web activity is great! BUT.....

There is one particular website that I can't get into in the past 24 hours. This morning I was able to barely get into it to see that other people are getting there, so I know the server isn't down. It's the BearShare forums at www.bearshare.net, in case you want to test it.

And it's not only their forums, but the company homepage doesn't want to load for me neither.

Sometimes I get a flat out "page cannot be displayed", sometimes the background color of the site will load and then nothing else. And sometimes part of the page will load, but then hangs forever.

I've done nothing different to make this happen, it just suddenly started last night. It's the only site that does this to me. And yes, my temp files, history, cookies and all that are cleaned out - on a regular basis. Like I said, nothing different has occurred on my end to make this happen (that I know of).

Any ideas? Is it just an ISP router problem maybe, and I have to wait 'til it's fixed?

I'm a forum moderator and VIP member there, so I need to get back in asap. TIA for any suggestions!

Answer:Can't access specific website

It's the traffic or some interference on the remote server not your connection or computer.

I hope using DSL you're using a software firewall plus a router, if you're networked.

*** Mandatory (get a firewall of any brand) - Get free Zone Alarm personal firewall anti-hacker countermeasure from http://www.zonelabs.com. (not the ZA Pro demo) 'Don't let anything out to the Internet you don't know what it is.' Or, get free Sygate personal firewall from http://www.pcworld.com/Downloads. Go to the Utilities' Security Section. Also please see http://www.firewallguide.com/ for more information on why all on-line home computers should be firewall enabled.

About 2 weeks ago, I was no longer able to access anything that has to do with worldofwarcraft.com from my home network. I have been able to access it fine for years, since the thing came out.

From other computers and networks the site loads just fine.

I have tried the DNS flush and checked my hosts file. Everything is fine there, and I have looked at all of my security settings within my desktop and my router, nothing is blocking it. Nothing has worked so far.

I have also tried accessing it in IE, and it doesn't work there either.

The error message that I get is the classic:

Quote:

The connection has timed out.

The server at www.worldofwarcraft.com is taking too long to respond.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

It only happens with this address, every other website works fine. Looking for any help that I can get other than reformatting, that would be a real hassle just because I cannot get to one site.

Answer:Cannot access one specific website

Three things to try:

1) from a DOS window type "ping www.worldofwarcraft.com". You should get 4 ping packets that are echoed if working correctly.

2) from a DOS window type "tracert www.worldofwarcraft.com". You get an echo from each of the routers from you home to world of warcrafts server. If it stops somewhere you are being blocked. If you being blocked, complain to your ISP. Make sure the blocking is not done by your router.

3) Boot you computer in safe mode <F8> with network installed. Now try to get to www.world...com . If you do get there then you have a firewall problem. If you don't then your ISP could be blocking that site.

4) Your home network router could have that site blocked. The ping and tracert commands above will stop at your router. (one bounce) The router could be setup so as to filter out the ping icmp packets.

5) Try from a DOS window "telnet www.world...com 80". This might give you some kind of error message. Your turning "telnet" into the worlds-dumbest-web-browser. Typing garbage will give back error messages and dump you out of telnet.

6) From your browser enter "http://12.129.242.22/". This is the IP address of worldofwarcraft.com. If this works, you have an extremely stale DNS server someplace. Complain to your ISP.

Good luck.

PS. Worldofwarcraft.com is hosted on ATT.com server some place. They just bought Cingular. You could be out of luck.

I cant seem to get on olt.com from my home network. None of my three computers or iPhone can get on it from home. I can access it if I do logme in to my father in laws house on his computer. And from other networks.

I ran a tracert and it timed out after 8 hops. Im pretty sure its not my browsers or security software as I have tried all different configurations of everything. And the iPhone is exempt from ie, firefox, avast... etc...

Any ideas where to start? I reset my router back to defaults to check that aspect out to no avail.

Your IP is on some blacklists. Those blacklists are for email, but some sites use them to block access. So, that's one possibility. IF this is the case you will probably need to work with the site or your ISP to get the IP removed from the blacklist.

Hi all.

For some reason, there is a specific website that I cannot access. I am a member of the website and they have a community forum for contacting them and requesting support, but obviously I cannot contact them if I cannot access their site!

The website is www.onbux.com. I read in another post that I should do the TRACERT command and post the results so I am doing that here.

Thanks.

Basically,
Sometimes I can get through to the website and most of the time I cannot. I don't know much about computers. Actually, I don't know anything. But I am trying to get to myspace and it will not let me. Sometimes I can get on fine. Stay on. Then other times Internet Explorer will say "Cannot open page." I don't know what to do and I am completely frustrated. It is through my PC which is Windows XP and my labtop. Both they will not let me into myspace most of the time.
Can Anyone please explain

In very thurough if you can like from step 1 to step 2 cause I don't know much like I said.

Ok my name is andrew and i'm a computer/network technician, however i have become stumped with this issue. I frequently visit the website support.proboards.com to get codes, news and updates about and for my proboards forums. However, around Wednesday (jan/2) i was no longer able to access the website. I have not installed or removed any programs in or around this timeframe. I have admin access of this pic and I'm the only user of it, as well.

Here's what I've tried (with no avail) so far:
1. did a tracert & ping to support.proboards.com...it doesnt work but it does work to the main website proboards.com
2. called my ISP (ATT) and we ran through some steps that didnt work.
3. spoke with admins of the proboards company and they havent changed or done anything
4. checked (and reset) my modem/router
5. cleared my SSLs, cookies, hosts file, browser history, & temp. internet files

That's what Ive done (not necessarily in that order) but still I cannot access the website. So the isp says they're connection isnt the problem, the owners of the proboards site say it isnt their problem b/c the tracert/ping stops before it gets to their servers.

I also noticed while glancing through both the DSS and extra.txt that my windows and symantec firewalls were down, that was from working with the ISP tech. If you need me to run it again with them enabled, just let me know.

Ok so i followed the 5 steps before posting. Here is the DSS file

Answer:no access to one specific website

Bump. while I bump I guess I'll fill you in that it's not only my PC that is blocked from this website. EVERY computer (wired/wireless) is not able to access the site. I spoke with three tech agents on 3 occasions at my ISP (ATT) and they say it's not them. I kept in touch with the ProBoards owners and they say it's not their fault b/c the connection (hops in tracert) stop before it gets to their (DNS) or regular servers.

Any ideas?

Okay, I'll try to give as much information so suggestions aren't given that I've already tried..

A few months ago I noticed I couldn't access the website for my circuit city credit card account services. The actual website is:

http://www.fnanb.com

It can be access from a number of places, I usually do from:

http://www.circuitcityrewards.com
At first I thought it was a problem with their site, except I noticed I could still access it at work, and at a friend's house. Both of us have the same router, and I've reset to factory settings on mine to make sure it wasn't that, so I don't think it's a router issue.

In fact, I think it's an issue with a setting on my laptop, I just can't figure out what. I run SpyBoy Seek & Destroy, I use CCleaner occasionally, and I use NOD32 for antivirus. I suspect it may be something CCleaner is doing, but I'm not sure.

I've tried accessing with both Firefox and IE. Neither work. I've checked my hosts file and I didn't find any kind of restriction (nothing after "localhost").

I use Comcast, but so does my friend so I don't think it's an ISP issue.

I used my friend's laptop at her house, and it worked. But when I used my own laptop, same problem. It's almost certain that it's a setting somewhere on my laptop.

I've tried a few different things like adding the site to my trusted sites list and release/renew my IP and some... Read more

Quote:

The connection has timed out

The server at www.worldofwarcraft.com is taking too long to respond.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

It only happens with this address, every other website works fine. Looking for any help that I can get other than reformatting, that would be a real hassle just because I cannot get to one site.

I'd like to block access to a specific website across my entire home network. I'd prefer to do it from one location, rather than on each computer. I have a WRH54G Linksys wireless router; I heard that I can access some central control there to block websites; but I've tried many password combos without success ([none]/admin; [none]/Admin; admin/[none]; Admin/[none]; admin/admin; Administrator/admin; Administor/Admin; ) etc. I'd prefer not to pay for anything, if possible. How do I do this?

I'm using Vista, but I'd like this to work on XP (pro, SP2/SP3) as well. I'd like this to work for IE6, IE7, <strong>and</strong> IE8 if possible...definately IE 6 and IE7. If it works for Firefox or Chrome, all the better.

Thanks.

Answer:How do I block access to a specific website?

Step 1: Click the Start button and select Run. Now type the following text in that Run box:

notepad c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Step 2: You will see a new notepad window on your screen containing some cryptic information. Don’t panic. Just goto the last line of the file, hit the enter key and type the following:

127.0.0.1 orkut.com
127.0.0.1 facebook.com
127.0.0.1 myspace.com

Save the file and exit. That’s it. None of the above sites will now open on your computer.

You can block as many websites as you like with the above technique. If you want to remove the ban later, open the same file as mentioned in Step 1 and delete the above lines.
i think it will work somebody told me abt this but i havn't tried it myself coz i m a adult :D

Hello everyone.
I've been experiencing this problem ever since I bought a new laptop in march.
I just simply can't access to this website (it's a Korean website: www.pann.nate.com)

I thought it was a simple error on Google Chrome, so I tried to access it on IE, Firefox, etc. I always got the same results that I couldn't access it. I checked my antivirus program and firewall, the website wasn't blocked.

I was able to go on the website using the ip address, but when I wanted to proceed further into it (For example, to read an article), it would show me the same page as when I couldn't access to it.
I've also tried using the Google DNS server, but it didn't work as well.

Could anyone please help me out?

Thank you

Hi, I'm new here but stumbled across this forum whilst looking for help resolving a problem I'm currently having.

Lately I have been unable to access one of my favourite websites (a fan site for one of my favourite bands), but I know from other people that they are still able to access this site. I have tried scanning my PC for viruses and spyware and this had made no difference, and so I assume there must be some other problem but I don't really understand what it could be.

As my first though was that the problem was a virus I tried asking in the Internet & Networking/Security forum, in the following thread.

http://forums.techguy.org/security/432624-cant-access-certain-website.html

I've tried everything that they've suggested but I'm still having no joy, and so I'm hoping that maybe somebosy in this section may be able to help.........pretty please!!

I'm using Zone Alarm as my firewall. Was able to configure it to my needs for the most part. However, there is a website that ZA will not let me navigate through. I can get to the home page but can't navigate through the links. I am sent to a "Sorry" page, then can only get back to the home page. I went into the ZA configuration console and under "Firewall", then "Zones", I typed in the IP address under "Internet" and then also "Trusted". Nothing worked. I'm still denied access.

I am running Windows XP with SP2 (this patch was installed before installing ZA).
I am also using Norton AV with ZA - I know people have experienced problems with this - I have never had any conflicts.

I believe ZA is the problem, not Norton, 'cause when I completely disable ZA, I can navigate through the entire website.

Am I missing to list this exception somewhere?

Answer:Allow Zone Alarm Access To Specific Website

Stupid question, but has the site been blocked from Internet Explorer properties? If not, try adding the same site to the "Trusted" category from IE Properties.

I WANT TO RENDER MY COMPUTER INCAPABLE OF ACCESSING TWO CERTAIN WEBSITES. I Need some info on how to block webpages. I tried going to TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS>CONTENT and enabling CONTENT ADVISOR, but this did not work well at all. I also tried this by accessing CONTENT ADVISOR through SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL> INTERNET OPTIONS.

The problem was that it ended up blocking every website on
the internet, even though I only specified to block TWO
SPECIFIC websites. It seems that it made me specify every
single website that is OK to visit, as well as specifying
sites that were never OK to visit. And even when I cleared
a website, I kept getting access refusal to websites that
I had already cleared by checking the option, "ALWAYS
ALLOW ACCESS TO THIS WEBSITE". Sometimes I had cleared these sites multiple times, but still had trouble
accessing them. I ONLY WANT TO BLOCK TWO MEASLY WEBPAGES - NOT THE WHOLE INTERNET!!!

Am I doing something wrong here, or does this proceedure
have a bug that prevents it from working effectively? IS
THERE ANOTHER WAY TO BLOCK A WEBSITE? Do I need to get special software to do it? Thanks for shedding light on this dilemna.

Answer:Do I Need Special Software To Block Access To A Specific Website?

Add the web-sites to the Restricted zone Tools/Internet Options then select the security tab and Restricted icon and add the web sites here. You can further customise the capabilities of the web sites in the restricted zone.

Hi, this is my first time posting here so please let me know if I need to make adjustments or edits to my post.

My problem:
A few days ago I wanted to play the game Dark Souls online which runs on the 'Games For Windows Live' platform, after several reattempts of trying to connect to the service I was unable to do so, I didn't really think much of it at the time considering that GFWL is generally a terrible platform when it comes to anything remotely practical.

My suspicions that something has infected my computer increased when I discovered that I was unable to access support.Microsoft.com - I am still unable to access the site and receive a 'The connection has timed out' message upon trying to connect to the URL. I have tried this in several browsers including Firefox, Nightly, Chrome and Opera.

After many Google searches and much frustration I have found other users with the similar problem to myself, though mine seems to be less severe, many users report not being able to access any antivirus websites such as AVG, Antivir, Spybot S&D etc... as well as support.Microsoft.com.

I however have discovered that only the following sites seem inaccessible for myself:-
support.Microsoft.com
bleepingcomputer.com
Avg update URL (Can't find this now - But it's the URL AVG uses to update/install)
Comodo.com

What I have attempted thus far:
Here is what to me seems the most frustrating and confusing part.

Hi techguys,

I am running Windows XP SP1, AMD Athlon XP 2600+, with 1GB or RAM. I recently purchased an X-micro bluetooth adapter. What I want to do transfer some freeware applications to my Samsung D500 cellular phone.

I access my Network Connection, and choose to create an advanced connection to another computer directly, using COM5 (the port set aside for bluetooth). When I get to the Network Connection Wizard's Host or Guest Page, I select my computer as host, and I click Next. The computer thinks for a bit, and eventually, I get presented with an error saying "Incoming Connections depends on the Routing and Remote Access service which was unable to start.". I checked the Event Viewer and got this message:

"The Routing and Remote Access service terminated with service-specific error 340 (0x154)."

I have checked on the Internet for solutions, the majority say that I should check that NetBIOS is enabled in my TCP/IP network settings. This I have done, and it is indeed enabled. The problem still persists. I am unsure what other services Routing and Remote Access depends on.

A friend mentioned that it might indeed be a problem with SP1, and that I should reinstall it. This seems a rather drastic solution though.

Would anyone kindly help me with this problem? I would be most grateful.

For the past 2 months I have been having a problem viewing a specific website (Real Clear Politics). This problem occurs with IE, Mozilla, and Google Chrome, from three different ISPs (Comcast, Wide Open West, Keyon Communications). After contacting the webmaster for the website they were baffled and recommended a workaround of eliminating the "www." at the beginning of the address. This solution has allowed me to view the website though it does cause annoyance and links directing to deeper within the site are broken when clicking on them and the "www." must be removed to access them.

Today while exasperated I came upon a possible cause and solution of flushing the dns cache

However when I tried to perform the operation ipconfig /flushdns I received the message
"The requested operation requires elevation."

Any help would be appreciated either aimed at the root cause (ideas, solutions) or at this flush dns issue.

Thanks very much

Hi everyone

I am looking for help solving this problem if anyone can be so kind as to help!
The site in question is www.modelmayhem.com which I have been using daily on a desktop machine for over 4 years but since last weekend I have been unable to access it with any of the 3 browsers I have installed - IE9, Chrome and Firefox 10.2 the later being the one I was using before and since the problem arose. The error message I get on Firefox is "Connection was reset) ie timeout and inaccessible.

The computer is connected to the internet via a Ethernet cable plugged into a wireless router which in turn is into a modem. Using my Windows phone 7 I am able to access the site via the wireless router which I have assumed means that there is no problem with my isp etc.

I was running Eset, Superantispyware and Malwarebytes non of which found any problems, and I have since un-installed them in case one of them was the cause. I have also searched all files and the registry for any occurrence of the site in both text form and its ISP number I have since installed the latest version of Eset again.

I cannot ping the site but as it isn't possible for a ping from websitenotworking.com to get a result it may well be due to the site admin have measures to prevent a ping. The site is however accessible via websitenotworking.com.

I have run CC cleaner, flushed the dns cache etc all to no avail, and I think I have tried all of the suggestions I have found in other ... Read more

Hi,

I am hoping you can help me out. I am unable to access the site www.afford.com (alternatively afford.com or 24.249.218.80).

We have two other computers in the house using the same router and security software (verizon) and they can get to it just fine using Firefox, but my main computer cannot. We are all running XP. Tried using both IE and Firefox tp see if it made a difference. Firefox loads a blank page and IE just says the page in unavailable.

I tried several things based on advice I saw in other searches, including clearing all the temp files, resetting the DNS, doing a netsh winsock reset, setting the firewall to see it as a trusted site and specifying that it could send cookies (though I don't know if it needs to). Host file only lists the default that comes with the system (local host). Also disabling the firewall does nothing. None of these measures has been necessary on the other computers and they display the site just fine.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I need to use this site to pay my son's monthly college bills and it would be much more convenient to do it from the computer where I do my bookkeeping.

I visit a certain website on a somewhat regular occasion. I tried Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome and the website cannot be accessed. The website didn't block me. However, when I use proxy I can reach it. Error given by the browser is DNS not found or server error.

Answer:Unable to access certain website

What is the URL?

Hie guys,

I am new to this forum. Hope this I am posting at the right place.

I am currently running on Windows XP.

I have this problem where i am not able to access this website. www.uae-photo.com using IE and Mozilla

I have confirmed that this website is up and running because i have asked other people from other parts of the world to try and access it. The website seems to be running fine. It only seems to be me.

COuld it be a problem with some cookies/internet settings or anyother sort of problem? I could access a couple of days ago. The error i am receiving is:-

"Network Error (tcp_error)

A communication error occurred: "Operation timed out"
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.

For assistance, contact Customer Support"

Hope someone has some input. Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Answer:Unable to access website.

I can access the site fine too.

Test your connection by opening a Command Prompt window and typing the following:

TRACERT www.uae-photo.com > tsftrace.dat

and then pressing return. Leave it for a few minutes (may take a while depending on the speed of your connection - the prompt will appear back when it's done), then, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the folder that your Command Prompt is in (shown at the start of the line you type on in the Command Prompt window) and look for the tsftrace.dat file. Open the file in Notepad and paste the text you find in it back in here (the text should end with ' Trace Complete'. That should give us and idea of what's going on.

Hi to all

I am having an issue and need some help please. Earlier today I was given admin access to a website to assist with some forums there. I was told to enter my username and a password (given by site for admin access ) then enter my normal user/password details.

I did this there was a pop up to be filled I believe called iexplorer and I completed the necessary. However I got a message stating unauthorised access. When I attempted to log in as normal to the site(I use Norton to store passwords etc) I was unable to access the site, I am able to access other sites(one or two are stating my password is wrong had no issue before and norton self fills all my saved sites)with no problems.

I use IE but have tried chrome still no joy, I have cleared cache etc flushed dns no joy.

I have been able to access the website using my mobile phone roaming data away from home, but if I use my home network I am unable to connect.

Any help is appreciated
oh I have checked Norton isn't blocking the site and it is set to allow so I am stuck

Answer:Unable to access a particular website

You need to talk to the person who owns the website. Most likely you need to install special Client Software for the server that they are using.

Hello, I am at my girlfriend's house, she has been unable to access my page for about a month now:

The page gives me a 400 error in IE and regular "no connect" in Firefox. I cannot connect from any of the four pages in her house. I've tried dropping the security settings, etc. in both IE and FF, to no avail. I suspect some sort of firewall, but I can't find one on this PC. So, here's my HJT for the main PC in the house...

A friend of mine has a curious problem with a fairly new machine.

Using Internet Explorer he's unable to get at the web site www.collectorcartraderonline.com although they were once able to!

For about a week since the machine was set up (in early June) he could get on the site and since that time, it doesn't look as if anything particular has been loaded onto the machine. No new fixes or anything of that nature.

I've checked things like Java being installed and it looks OK. I've restored the system to earlier times (like when we believe it WAS able to connect to the site) but no joy.

I've looked through the various patches which have been applied but the only one which seemed connected in any way was Q831167 so I tried removing it but to no avail.

I've tried with different browsers (firefox and Netscape) and all produce the same result... it says it can't find the site.

It's not being misspelled. I tried getting at it via a link on another site (www.classiccarslasvegas.com) but still no joy.

I've looked through security and similar settings and have run out of ideas.

It's the only site that we can find that shows this problem and using http://www.dnsstuff.com/ I am able to ping it and traceroute it.

Has anybody got any ideas? Has anyone seen anything like this before? What is so special about this one site?

Oh yes, the environment is XPhome running IE6.

Just thought I would let the MajorGeeks community know that I have finally resolved my own dilemma regarding access to a particular website after some troubleshooting. I'm posting the solution in case someone else out there has encountered a similar problem.

I use Internet Explorer7 with Yahoo7 (latest updates) and it appears this browser was (for an unknown reason) blocking my access to the website in question. After enabling the Firefox/Mozilla browser I found I can now access the website using either the website's IP address or URL!

Yeeehaaa!!!!

I can now continue using Internet Explorer7 for everything else (because I like all the tools on it) and flip over to Firefox whenever I need access to this other troublesome website.

Cheers

I am unable to access a single website. eharmony.com

I was able to via DSL but just switched to cable (optimumonline). The curious bit is that I have a router and didn't change any settings.

Using the wired connection I am unable to connect now, but if I remove the router I can connect. Previously I had no problem with this router in place.

I have this issue with all browsers. Also, if I open up AOL software (full version), I can then access the website without a problem with any browser.

It seems as if the combination of the cable modem and router is causing the problem as the DSL modem and router worked fine, and the Cable modem without the router works fine. I was told TCP ports 443 and 80 need to be open and according to windows they are.

Other than that I'm lost at present and I'm getting the run around from the companies.

Hi,

First posting this and completely new to me but if anyone is able to help I will be very grateful. My problem is similar to that posted my nvmar in September but I'm not technical enough to follow all of the advice. Problem is that I can no longer access a specific website - bbc. Was never a problem until now. Thought it might be blocked for some reason but can access from another computer. Have run virus scan (Norton) and Ad-aware and removed what little came up - didn't look anything serious, restarted computer but problem still exists. Help please.

Answer:[SOLVED] Unable to access bbc website

Either a coincidence or this website is truly remarkable - just tried accessing the website again and no problem - it works! Don't know what was the problem so if anyone is still able to comment it would help. Will certainly keep this website in my favourites.

I am running Win XP Pro with a norton firewall and have a D-link wireless router. I have done all the usual malware scanning etc, and I removed the router but still can not get this connection to an FTP site to display in IE. I have reset all IE controls to the standard settings etc.

Can anyone detail what might be wrong and how to fix this issue as I need access to this site in my Job search functions. I am unemployed at present and have lost two days here so some kind guru please come to the rescue. NOTE: I was having no problems on Friday with full activation of the firewall, and the government site is working for sue but not for me.

I have just tried to access http://blog.seorevolution.com/2013/01/24/5133/ and get the following:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /2013/01/24/5133/ on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.19 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.19 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_perl/2.0.5 Perl/v5.8.8 Server at blog.seorevolution.com Port 80

I haven?t a clue what this means. Can anyone help please?

Answer:Forbidden Unable to Access Website

The error you're getting is generated by the website's server. It has nothing to do with your computer. It has to be solved by those who maintain the website.

So, there is nothing to worry about.

I'm able to access other websites so far but one keeps redirecting me to a cloudflare captcha page, and the captcha won't load.

I am able to access the same website on the same network using my mobile phone. I already ran AdWare Medic and it came up with nothing. Cleared cache and restarted. Still won't let me access the page or see the captcha.

Help please?

Incidentally, I received this error from Firefox when I was clearing the cache:
Script:chrome//browser/content/sanitize.js:206

I thought I was running Firefox, why is it saying Chrome?

Thanks in advance!

I am able to access all website except one particular website from my home network. Also, I am unable to access the same website using my ipod-touch. The website is up and running and it is not down or offline.

In order to verify, I took the laptop and ipod touch to starbucks. I was succesful in accessing the website from starbucks using my laptop as well as my ipod-touch.

Also, I tried to replace my existing router with a new router, but still the problem exists.

Would really appreciate if you can advise resolution for this issue.

Operating System: Windows Vista 64bit

Thanks,

Answer:Unable to access one particular website from home

Hi deb_chow,

That reads like a DNS issue: your ISP DNS server isn't giving the route. Try setting your router to use the OpenDNS servers instead, if you choose to sign up (there are additional filtering settings and more you can use) there's a free version. OpenDNS servers are 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220,

Hi everyone,It is in some desperation that I have been directed here via various search engines, in order to ask a question with regard to a particularly annoying problem I have. For a couple of months now, I have been unable to access the forum on a particular 'flight simming' website (captainsim.com).  I used to be able to access it just fine, but one day, all of sudden, I was presented with a 'page cannot be displayed' message.  The forum on the website in question, uses a '.info' address...'www.captainsim.info/forum', I soon discovered that the only other part of the website that I can't access is their online store, which not suprisingly happens to also use the .info address.  Just as a sort of test, whilst messing around with addresses, I typed in www.captainsim.com/forum, and was presented with a test forum from the website.  If nothing else, this did at least seem to confirm that the part of the address that is being rejected is the '.info'.I have tried adding the forum address to my trusted sites, deleted all cookies and cleared internet cache etc, disabled firewall, all with no success. If anyone could offer me some advice on why all of a sudden I have been unable to access this part of the website in question, and what I may do to solve the problem, I would be most appreciative.  I hasten to add that it is just me with this problem, I have discovered that others can access the forum in qu...
