Live Video Streaming - no computer at source?

Question: Live Video Streaming - no computer at source?

I am not sure if this counts as a hardware or software question, but here goes:

We are trying to set up a streaming solution for multiple live cameras in various locations. The locations are bars and they are spread around the US, so we are trying to pursue options that don't require a computer at the source for the media encoding. We have looked at several standalone cameras and some media server units, but nothing seems to be quite what we need. Plus, there are some questions that aren't getting answered through phone calls to the manufacturers etc. I have looked on the Microsoft site, but there doesn't seem to be a media streaming forum that I could find. Search engines are yielding a lot of irrelevant results.

Does anyone here have experience with this sort of thing, or know of a good forum where I could get some info? I need to know if hardware exists that will send windows media encoded streams, or whether a remote server could handle encoding streams from 50 different cameras... stuff along those lines.

Any help is appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Live Video Streaming - no computer at source?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This has been happening on and off ever since I started with Win 10 and its always very annoying .

System just hangs, no error message, no bsod, just complete freeze and loud hum.

I cant say I can remember having issues watching youtube videos, its the streaming of live content such as filmon. Sometimes I can watch filmon for days and not have the issue and then randomly it will start again. Today I was watching hypermole playing on twitch tv (live) and it just happened. Getting tired of it.
I can also report having all my video content display as a green screen after using hyper v although that may be totally unrelated.

As far as I am aware, I'm using the latest drivers for my graphics, I always try update everything. I have attached the log files as requested.

Hi m1a1t,

Welcome to the 10forums

I'm not a specialist when it comes to freeze problems, but I do have a tip (or 2 when talking about reverting back the changes)
IObit software is known for causing problems, I would highly recommend that you remove it and revert back the changes it made when it comes to drivers.
DB3 may install corrupted or the wrong drivers what may cause problems,Malwarefighter is IMHO garbage,Advanced SystemCare may cause more harm than good
About the uninstall program I can't tell you anything, because I have no experience with it and I prefer to keep it that way.

Im using www.uStream.tv right now to Live Stream my video,
but I want to LIVE Stream Video without www.uStream.tv
through Adobe Live Media Encoder, but I have no Idea what
the FMS URL is.. I looked at a tutorial it said to write it like this,
HTML:
Enter the following address for 'FMS URL':

rtmp: //Your_Domain_or_IP/live/instance_name

Replace Your_Domain_or_IP with your domain name or
dedicated IP address (if your account has been assigned one).
When entering your domain name, do not enter the 'www.'
portion (e.g. type in mysite.com and not www.mysite.com).

The instance name is arbitrary and is used to reference the
stream.

Example FMS URL: rtmp://mysite.com/live/soccermatch
So mine would be rtmp://voccc.com/live/service
but I dont have a /Live/service direction wtf! please help!

My website is www.voccc.com
Need answer ASAP,
Thanks,
Ruben

Answer:Help Live Video Streaming?

Its fairly easy----you need to encode your video to a format like .wmv (Windows), upload it to a server, and voila, thats it. Most basic NLE's will allow you to do this---Remember, you need a server to host your video and that since video files are fairly large, you would want to make sure that you get a good deal on bandwidth usage with your provider.

Hey,

I'm trying to watch an online stream on http://www.theyoungturks.com/ (the one on the homepage). However, I always get a problem where it just doesn't load. WMP tries to open it but stops after about 10 seconds. Sometime the stream works perfectly though, which perhaps means its not WMPs fault, but theres something wrong with the computer. I've tried searching for a solution, but nothing is working. Any tips?

I'm using XP media centre.

Does anyone know of a simple, straightforward application that can record/save live webstreams in order to watch them again later? The webstreams are basically concerts. I notice that by right clicking, that the webstreams use Adobe flashplayer. But, right clicking doesn't result in any way to save the webstream. (I can sort of see why. The source would need to save it and make it available as a link.)

Or, another option is I can choose a lower video quality by clicking on a link from the source site, and this causes the webstreams to open in windows media player.
So, I'm hoping to be able to save them, and maybe even edit them. But every program I've looked at seems too complicated for my beginner status.
I've downloaded Itunes, but as far as I know it can't record right?

Answer:Recording live streaming video

I use Real Player which is free, and has a "Download this Video" link that is fabulous. This link will download any video, movie, music, etc. The only thing that will prevent the downloading, is if the item is protected from downloading by its license (which happens occasionally, but not that often).

Answer:How to record live streaming video

Hi,
I guess that maybe there would a problem with copyright, I may be wrong?

I would assume live streaming as 2009 would conflict with the rights of the owner.

Other members may have more insight into this particular aspect of legal/copyright.

Sorry but couldn't think of anywhere else to post this but how would I go about streaming my meetings online through video and audio? If anyone has some quick suggestions please respond to this, I'd really appreciate it.

Answer:Live Video/Audio Streaming

If you want to have some type of on-line interactive meeting between people at two or more locations, the feature is included with Windows 2000 and XP:

http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/NetMeeting/InAction/default.ASP

If you wish to broadcast your meeting over the internet then you will need to run some type of streaming server and have a high bandwidth connection out of your meeting location.

Obviously I have some how lost my google skills or something but I can not find anything for this situation so hopefully someone can help.

I'm trying to help my church get live video streaming of the sermons online but I'm not quite sure of the software I need. My church already records all the sermons and makes them available online so they already have the camera setup they need. I want something along the lines of like Shoutcast but for video. I want the source to send data to a higher bandwidth server that can then redistribute it to any viewers. I know uStream is available but we'd prefer to have something of our own setup. The computers in the booth run Windows XP and we have a co-located Linux server running CentOS. Can anyone help out?

I also hope this is the best forum area to post this in.

Answer:Live Video Streaming From Church

Well, I would really recommend uStream, but if you're dead set against it, check out VLC player. I'm no expert on it, but I think you could set it up on the WinXP system, then set it up on the CentOS server, and have CentOS re-broadcast the stream to your viewers. (setup the WinXP comp to stream, then tell the server to get it's source video from that stream)

Hi all.
I've got the mlb.com baseball package. However, the video always ends up freezing or stop and go. Sometimes it will work fine for as long as 2 min. Sometimes if I let it run, it corrects itself. Other times it freezes my pc. This has been going on since I subscribed about 2-3 weeks ago. I've tried every setting as far as display properties, text size, shutting off security center so there would be no background programs running. Including windows update. Still no luck. I've also tried disabling the display adapter, rolled back driver , updated driver. Every time I log in, I get this message after clicking the error icon on the MLB screen:Message: Object doesn't support this property or method

I did change a few #'s after the id= with xes just in case for security reasons. Any suggestions out there on what I can do? No sense extending my sub with the results I'm getting right now.

Not sure where this belongs, since it is audio thought here, feel free to move to proper location if there is one...

This has been an issue for me for a long while now and still cant figure out why, I have gone and built another PC with a better sound card but still cannot get any audio.

I have no problems with audio when I am streaming video from a file, but if it is live streaming I get video but no audio, sorry it seems repetitive but just drives me nuts.

I have a hauppauge1600 PCI Tuner card, and I had no problem with the video, nor with the audio when I was in Media Center, and when streaming a video file, I have tried using some streaming programs and havent had any luck, have used: webcamax, unreal, broadcam, adobe flash video encoder, windows media encoder, video lan.... and nothing plays audio

I have also installed codecs, sharks codecs and even bought another tuner card Kworld PCI ATSC Hybrid HDTV Card (PC150-U). Even got a new Creative X-Fi extreme sound card thinking that was going to fix it, but noooooooo....

at wits end at the moment, and about to shelve this again for a few weeks, but this is last resort, can someone point me in right direction or at least help me trouble shoot?

HELP!

Answer:Have video but no Audio, when streaming live

Guess no one wants to mess with this one, and I'll have to shelve it yet once again. I took out the X-Fi sound card, and still have no audio when streaming live, even updated the RealTek Hd audio drivers to latest. so the onboard dont work either on live streaming.

Hello, I have noticed that sometimes when I am watching live video being streamed from websites on the web that my PC will just shut down.  I know that this can be sometimes caused by overheating, or too many programs running at once but usually when I'm watching streaming video that is all I'm doing.  It may be caused by fullscreen viewing on the websites, but when I play DVD's or watch movies that I'm downloaded in Full screen this doesn't happen.  I don't receive an error message(I know this may be because of a setting that calls for auto restart when errors occur.) the PC will just shut down and then I can hear my HD revving really fast.  My PC to my knowledge has a good power source and it is an intel processor 6x T1100 Phantom II so, it should be able to handle quite a bit I would think.  Any help would be appreciated, I know you guys are the best because you've helped me before.

Answer:No Video (audio only) When Live Streaming

What exact pages don't work/or what player are they using? YouTube is "streaming" video, so obviously "streaming" video is working.

Most likely, whatever player is used on the page(s) that don't work, needs to be updated or reinstalled.

Does anyone have experience with live streaming video servers? What I would like to do is that a live broadcast that originates from Quicktime Broadcaster, pipe it through a video encoder and format agnostic server, and offer it up to clients.

Wowza Media Server (@wowzamedia.com) seems to do that but the $65/month they want for it is a bit steep for the 2-3 hours per month that I need this to work. I do need a version that more than 10 clients can connect to.

Generally speaking paying for a server product isn't the issue if it's a one-off price, the subscription based approach isn't going to work though.

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated, I can host on Windows or LInux, MacOS Server isn't an option.

Hi guys,

We cut the cable and are relying on Roku (in the bedroom) and Xbox 360 (in the living room) to watch TV through Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. We had some nasty weather come through this week and my other half (some may say my better half) wanted to just have the weather on the TV while we were hanging out. So, I set off to make that happen.

A local TV station (1011now.com) has a Livestream feature on their site, which requires Adobe FlashPlayer, and I was hoping to use that. However, Xbox 360's version of Internet Explorer does not support FlashPlayer. So, I scoured the web to see what I could find and it seemed that I may be able to stream video from my computer to the Xbox via web browser.

After about 30 hours of frustration and a fresh installation of Windows, I finally have my computer linked to my Xbox 360. I can play videos and music from my computer libraries without any problems. That being said, I still can't for the life of me figure out how to stream the FlashPlayer content to the 360.

I also learned that I don't have Windows Media Center (WMC) on my computer, which is what the 360 wants to use to do that kind of thing. I also learned that WMC isn't available for Windows 8.1. That is, unless I've grossly misunderstood something.

Any ideas on how I could make this happen?

Well, I have a desktop with a pretty decent sound card, no monitor though. I use the computer for the sole reason of playing music through my surroundsound via Remote Desktop.... Anyways... I recently managed to rip the headphone port right out of my laptop (my main computer) and the computer seems to detect headphones still in the port(whats left of it), so I can't have any sound whatsoever on my laptop anymore...

Is there a way to stream all sounds from my laptop, to the desktop? It'd be better this way anyways, if it would have all my sounds playing through my surroundsound.

If there isn't, is there a way to disable my laptop from detecting the headphones that aren't there, so I can at least play sound through my laptop speakers?

I am interested in starting an online live interactive cooking lesson series. I want to stream the lessons for 15 - 25 people using a video conferencing program (goto meeting, VeaMea, Cisco Webex...not sure which one yet) through our laptop.

I want to have two or three cameras running through my laptop that i can toggle through. One would be a wide shot of me and the kitchen. Another would be a close up of the cutting board to demonstrate cutting techniques and one camera mounted above the stove for when i am cooking. I want to be able to change cameras with a click of the mouse during the lesson and then be able to change back.

Can I hook up 2 or 3 cameras to my laptop (Intel core i3-380m with 6 gig ddr3) and accomplish what i want to do, or is there no way in heck that this little laptop is powerful enough? I am currently looking at high quality usb HD webcams.

Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated. If this is not the best forum and you know a better one, please advise. Thanks,
Willy

WHENEVER I try to stream video from the internet my browser and whole computer freezes and I have to do a hard re-boot. Be it with WMP, Quicktime or realplayer or anything i can never manage to play a video. After this happens it won't let me close the browser or even do Control, Alt, Delete.
This problem started after i'd got my computer back from repair sorting out a virus, it might be related because the malware is still there being annoying it's just supposedly inactive.

With quicktime a tiny snippet of audio can be heard for a few seconds before it freezes and with WMP i think it says "error loading codec" or something.

Oddly, youtube type videos are fine. I know other people have posted in with similar problems but i've had no luck fixing it. Any help would be much appreciated,

Hey guys,

This one has been eluding me so I'm looking for outside help.   This computer belongs to a friend of the Wife, who uses it for World of Warcraft and watching videos on youtube and hulu.   She says it's frozen up off and on over various incarnations and has had some hardware changed (gpu, hard drive for sure- memory and motherboard have never been changed).

OS - Windows 7 x64 · What was original installed OS on system?   Unsure.   It had been reinstalled once or twice.   When the computer came to me the windows installer was acting up and I couldn't update drivers or install Windows Updates so I just reformatted and re-installed Windows 7 Ultimate at the owner's request.
· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)?  Full retail version I purchased for personal use some years back and never used, so I had it laying around.· Age of system (hardware):   Uncertain.   5-6 years old maybe?  · Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS?   2 weeks old.· CPU:   Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 @ 3.00GHz· Video Card - 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD R7750· MotherBoard - NVIDIA NFORCE 790i ULTRA SLI (Socket 775)  (It's a XFX and their website makes it very hard to find drivers for anything but video cards)· Power Supply - I though... My laptop is a Sony Vaio running Windows 7. When I watch online videos (can be Youtube or any other kind of streaming video) my computer has been freezing very often lately (at least twice a day). When it freezes the computer stops and I can't move the mouse or do anything but the sound from the video persists as a slowed down, very roboty sounding version of the real sound. This will go on for about a minute and then the sound will stop. Eventually the computer will unfreeze itself after between 2-10 minutes of sitting there doing nothing and then the video will resume as if nothing happened (sometimes between 1 and 2 seconds of video have been skipped). Is there any fix to this problem?

I can watch home videos etc that are stored locally on my computer no problem, but if I try watching a full-screen video on hulu.com my computer crashes, saying the video driver failed. I have updated the driver for my video card, but have still encountered the problem, although not as quickly. The two places I have had the issue recently are hulu and watching a video full-screen on Facebook. The videos are fine until I watch them on full-screen. Does anybody have any ideas where to start looking to diagnose the problem?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Lance

Hey guys, so when I am streaming youtube or TV shows, my computer will all of a sudden freeze up, the mouse won't move, CTRL+ALT+DEL does nothing. for an instant the sound will become loud and just white noise (about 3 seconds). After this, the computer will sit at that stage, frozen and will never change, the screen won't go black, I need to do a hard reset to restart it. I have recently upgraded to windows 8.1.

My hardware is:
Mobo:ASRock 970 Extreme4
CPU: AMD FX 4100 Quad Core 3.6GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series
8Gb RAM

I have tried manually installing the newest driver for graphics card from the website. I have tried reinstalling adobe flash as well.

Has anyone got any ideas? I am out of them. It will usually crash within minutes of streaming, I have been using the computer at this moment for about 40 minutes without streaming and it has not crashed, apart from this, I don't have any other proof that it is crashing due to the streaming, but it is fair enough to assume it is.

Cheers guys

Hi, i got this new computer about 3 weeks ago. When i watch streaming (twitch.tv mostly), sometimes it will freeze my browser for 5sec-10sec (but the sound is still going) and come back after. When i try to watch it in 720p or HD, it will lag but only the video 1/2 of the time, while the sounds is just fine.

I updated all my drivers and reinstalled my firefox/chrome.

Over 720p will work for 15mins then starts lagging like crazy. A

Also, when i open anything (i think with ''Flash'') my browser will freeze for 5sec. The chat from twitch.tv beside the video will take for ever to load and make my browser lag.

Thank you.

I have a 5-year old HP Pavilion with Windows XP Media Center 2004 loaded. Up until about a month ago I could watch virtually any streaming video without a problem. Then one by one they all started causing the same total computer crash about 15 minutes into viewing. No problem with listening to NPR, but the streaming video problem exists whether it is PBS, Netflix, Hulu, or others. I clear my cache several times a day and I have updated my Silverlight, FlashPlayer, etc. till I'm blue in the face and nothing works. The tech guy at Hulu told me my computer was just too old. The Netflix tech guy said it was a problem with Microsoft. And I can't get any help at Microsoft. So am I just not going to ever be able to stream video again? Otherwise, my computer works fine - and I'm on it 18 hours a day for my work (which is incredibly boring which is why streaming video is so important to keeping my sanity.)

Basically, any time I stream a video my computer freezes, generally with a buzzing noise. The only time it happens is when I stream videos. I can play Skyrim or WoW all day without a hitch, but 5 minutes into a show on Hulu and its frozen. I've tried replacing the graphics card but that didn't help. According to windows, my sound driver is up to date. I don't know what else could be causing this issue.

I have had problems running any type of streaming video for the last 2 months, even UTUBE which uintil last week worked fine. (I can listen to music on AOL Radio, and even play most music videos)....however, I cannot watch Sports replays, movies or Shows, the News..etc.
Computer freezes totally, must do a reboot...video usually runs for about 1 minute. I get no error messages, ect..

I have followed the 5 steps suggested...
I have never had an issue with any type of Trojan or Virus..I clean out the adware ect on a regular basis. I use Zone Alarm, AVG , Spytbot and Adcanced Windows Care V2 Personal (I also have CCleaner, but the WindowsCare seems to do a good job with the Regisrty).
I run these on a fairly regular basis...I also had no new updates to install, as I do those consisntly as well.
The following is the main Log..I have tried to attach the other as suggested..please bear with me on this, as I do not usually do much "posting"

Hi, I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and recently downloaded SP1. Now when I stream video, the whole computer freezes often and seemingly at random times. The video stops, the sound gets stuck on one note, and I am unable to use the mouse or keyboard until it unfreezes which is sometimes twenty seconds, but sometimes twenty minutes. It eventually unfreezes and usually continues playing like normal. I have tried using chrome, firefox, and explorer all with the same results. Do you have any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

I'm running XP SP3 Home Edition. Whenever I watch streaming video, on YouTube, newscasts, TV shows, etc. the computer reboots without warning, sometimes right when I start the video, sometimes a number of minutes in.

I've checked the temp in the BIOS and the CPU doesn't seem to be overheating. I've also disabled "automatic restart on system failure", but that has not prevented the reboots. I can't find anything in the Event Log that relates to this.

I've wondered if my video card maybe cannot handle newer video? It's not on-board, but a PCI card: RADEON 7000 from ATI Technologies, Inc. This card has VGA and DVI, but my monitor only has VGA, so that's what I'm using. I updated the driver to the latest available from ATI (this helped for a bit, but then the reboots happened again). The driver date is 5/3/2006, which is probably the last driver they will ever put out for that particular card.

Any help would be appreciated. I just want to be able to view video!

My new computer that has windows vista home premium on it won't play streaming video like youtube, google videos, etc...It will play around 2 seconds of the video and then stop playing but still have the pause button displayed likie it's still playing. my connection speed is 100mbps. Does anyone know what is wrong? I even wait for it to finish loading and i can fast forward the sliders to another part of the video but then after 2 seconds it stops playin again....

Answer:My Computer Won't Play Streaming Video And I Have Cable

Are you using Internet Explorer? I recommend you install Firefox and use that as your main browser. You have to install the flash plugin first, however, to make youtube videos work. When you go to a webpage with videos, instead of the videos, you'll see a 'you are missing a plugin message'. Click on that to install it.

Basically what the title suggests. My computer will work fine for varying amounts of time when streaming video (watching movies, skyping, etc) but eventually the computer starts running sluggish until it virtually freezes. This problem doesn't seem to be nearly as bad when I'm streaming movies or tv shows, but when it comes to skyping this problem has been a nightmare. I'm at the point where I can't skype someone for more than 10 minutes before my computer freezes. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be awesome.

Hey, I recently started having a problem with my computer where it will freeze whenever I try and play any type of streaming video, or when playing music through itunes. When it freezes, I can still use the mouse, but clicking (left or right) does nothing, on anything, and pressing ctrl+alt+del does nothing either, so I have to hold down the power button to turn off computer then turn it back on.

Also, when it freezes, any audio playing at the time starts looping, about 1-2 seconds worth of audio just looping.

I have tried running AVG virus scan, came up with no problems, Spybot and Adaware, came up with stuff, fixed it, no change. Used a registry cleaner, fixed it, cleaned it up, no change. Ran Chdsk and it cleaned some stuff up but no change.

In the event log, it shows absolutely nothing when this happens, under any heading. Ive tested this using the itunes freezing recently, and it will show itunes service starting, then the next event is event log starting when I restart the system.

However, I did find some stuff from when it started (around 12:21 am Dec. 25th) which is:

This under system log:

Hi,

My home built PC reboots when I watch streaming video online. I use Chrome but I've tried IE and it happened with that too.

I don't get a BSOD, it just reboots out of the blue. There're no errors listed in the Event log apart for one where the computer is complaining that it just restarted without warning.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit. I've checked my BIOS and it's the latest version, I have the latest graphics card drivers. I've used Speedfan and the cpu temp is 45-50C. I can play games fine without it rebooting.

One of the first things I installed was Windows Security Essentials, so I should have been warned if a virus had snuck in.

Any ideas what might be causing this/steps on troubleshooting this issue?

Answer:Computer restarts when streaming video online

Usually, it's the inability of Windows to reset the driver, or an instability in the GPU/Video Card or even the CPU. I stress USUALLY.

Are you overclocking your GPU, or CPU?

I've had this problem for some time now. Whenever I stream a video from the internet my computer will freeze. It happens in both Firefox and IE, usually a minute or two into streaming the video. The computer becomes almost entirely unresponsive and I have to reboot.
I've tried a number of solutions for this problem. I've installed new codecs, I've looked for updated version of my Flash player, and run a number of different Spyware/Virus removal programs, yet nothing has solved my problem.

I'm posting my Hijack This log in hopes that someone can tell me what my problem is.

So ive been having this problem for a few weeks now.
Basically, when i watch anything on youtube or icefilms on my laptop that's longer than 5 minutes long or so, my computer abruptly stops, the frame freezes, the sound goes on a loop, all of the lights on my laptop turn on and i have to turn it off.
I can't even use the task manager to shut it down.
My computer has 4 gb of RAM, an intel i3 processor, a nvidia graphics card and I'm running windows 7.
It's a bit under a year old.
I already cleaned out the registry did a disk cleanup and defrag, and now im out of ideas.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening and how i can fix it?

Hi everyone, I hope this is the right place for this.

starting a couple months ago I began to have this issue of my computer doing a hard shutdown at first seemingly randomly. I have now been able to narrow the issue down to whenever data is being downloaded.

Streaming video seems to be the worst; the computer will only last between 2-30 seconds before shutting down, but it also occurs when downloading multiple files

specs are:

mobo: MSI K9N Platinum (MS-7250)
Processor : AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ @ 2000 MHz
Chipset : nVidia nForce 570 Ultra
Physical Memory : 2048 MB (4 x 512 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3
Power: 450 watt Antec sp-450

I have attempted the following fixes:

- reinstalled windows

- virus scanned including boot scan.

- updating display drivers/ uninstalling display drivers

- changing and disabling network ports. also installed another network card to try it.

- CPU heat monitoring. cpu heat stays around 31 C and at most reaches 44 C. shutdown appears unrelated. GPU never goes above 55 C

- Dust. Fully removed mobo, cpu and thoroughly cleaned for dust. also dusted fans.

- uninstalled flash player, reinstalled. reinstalled earlier version.

- updated bios version

Frankly, I've run out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all. Need a little help.

When I'm watching streaming video on Firefox, most of the time, about 5 minutes or so into it, the browser will crash. Sometimes, even my entire system crashes and restarts on its' own! I've read it might be a RAM or a temperature problem, but I don't really know the first thing about diagnosing, recognizing, or fixing those problems. I've done a Disk Cleanup and a Defrag, but that doesn't seem to work. I've got more than 20% on my Hard Disk and 448 MB of RAM.

Not sure what else to do. Anyone have any ideas?

[EDIT: Ah, now that I thought about it, it happened when my son was playing some games on the internet. I believe it was the Nick Jr. website. Not too sure which program Firefox uses to play the game.]

Hello Bleeping comp.
I have a small Acer notebook which has been running fine up until this point.
Lately i have been having trouble using video streams from sites like gametrailers and youtube
the videos eventually load slower than usual but the sound is choppy as is the video, i can hear the the audio skipping very slightly.
Also the sound files (the opening startup sound windows makes, or the pop up error message sound) have been skipping and sound very choppy.

I haven't gotten any important error messages lately either.
If it helps i run VIPRE Antivirus software but it hasn't found anything that could be causing this.
Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: i forgot to say that all other parts of my laptop are running smoothly which is why the problem is so confusion to me

Answer:Youtube, video streaming problems, slow computer

When you say small Acer is it an Aspire One with SSD? If so I found a small program that makes it run as fast as my tower, it has no issues with streaming video or for that matter nothing else!

Hi everyone,

A few days ago my computer started freezing whenever I watched video with any media player or online. The video will play from anywhere between 30 seconds and a few minutes. I'm getting no error codes, no BSOD, no screen tear or blocks, the video and audio just freeze and I get no keyboard or mouse response so I have to restart the computer. I get no problems just being online or using word processors, seems only problem is when I play video or play games.

I've had issues with my graphics card before so I'm guessing that's the problem again, but I'm not sure so that's why I'm here.

My computer specs are:

Intel i5 2500k Sandy Bridge
ASrock P67 Pro3
8GB G.Skill Ripjaw
ASUS nVidia GTX 560Ti
650W PSU

I just ran FurMark stability test on fullscreen and I was averaging 100fps and 75C for 60k frames with no problems. Don't know if that helps at all.

If you need more info I'll do what I can to get it for you. Thanks for taking any time to help me out.

Description:
The computer freezes completely and any audio being played stutters. This lasts only for about a second or two and then the computer resumes normal function. This only happens 1 time every few minutes and more frequently while gaming, so Im assuming its a graphics card issue.

I have noticed this problem happening while streaming videos on Netflix, and while playing games. Originally I thought it was a hard drive problem because I have heard the Marvell SATA controller has had issues. But that isnt the problem.

All of my drivers are up to date and there hasnt been a BSOD or any error message. I also updated the BIOS to the latest version.

Hello there members ,

I'm working on my mom's computer again. Last time I was here it had a bunch of viruses, and the good folks here helped a lot to get it functional again. It does not have a virus now, nor malware, but it is extremely slow. Trying to play music from Internet stations or watch youtube videos online is impossible, and overall it feels sluggish.

The Windows Task Manager shows CPU usage pretty low at 4% or so. 71 processes running which doesn't seem high to me. I see System Idle Process, CPU at 99? Not sure that's it though. There's probably about 55% or so available on the C disk drive. I'm about to defrag it and see if that fixes anything, but I'm pretty doubtful.

I've run all the usual anti-spyware (Spybot + Malware bytes), and anti-virus (Avira) but that hasn't helped a thing. What are some things I can do to troubleshoot?

BTW it's Windows XP on this machine. Any assistance is most appreciated

Answer:Slow Computer - Herky / Jerky Streaming Audio Video

Did you used to have the problem before your malware issues? Playing audio and video online could simply be an issue with your Internet connection. When you say playing is impossible, what does that mean, nothing comes out, stuttering.... Have you measured your upload and download speed? Speedtest is fine, if you avoid hitting the ads. What sort of things are sluggish? Page changes, mouse movements, programs starting up.........The System Idle process being 99 means it's not very busy! 71 processes does seem a bit high but these days every man and his dog wants to run a service on your PC. Mine are currently 54. I would have thought that during your malware removal exercise, others in this forum would have indicated what programs and services do not need to be running.

Videos Pause Anywhere! Internet and on Computer, Streaming and Playing in Video Players..Anywhere!! HELP!!!!

No matter where I play videos they pause or freeze or go very slow..I can hear the audio but the video freezes like when it needs buffereing.

Usually in Youtube if it does that I will pause it and wait for it to load and then play it and everything goes smoothly. One day I realized that pausing and waiting wasn't working anymore. It continues to freeze and be pausey. I decided it's my video streaming and internet.

Then I tried to play a video file in Sony Vegas' Trimmer (Which usually plays everything fine) and it was still doing it. I tried Media Player Classic and the same thing. When I play videos in Windows Media Player it's just black with sound. I'm so lost..I searched everywhere and everyone's problems almot seems like mine but it was always something different so I can't use their solution.

Everytime I restart the computer the problem goes away..Then it comes back later...This is turning into an everyday thing..I'm very frustrated.

Does anyone know what this specific problem may be?

Or did anyone experience this before?

How can internet videos and video files both be a problem?
Sounds like a Display problem but I'm not sure about that at all.

Can you help?

It's like a horror movie for me. I edit videos all day. I need video playback.

Hi,

Am facing problems in PC speakers recently when ever i expand the player to full screen.
If the player pertaining to any video streaming sites, is in the normal viewing (half of screen) there is no distortion in sound, but if the player is expanded to full screen, the distortion in speaker is heavy.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash player but still the problem persists.

Hello! And I will begin by saying I am 1000% sain and I have a detective working to solve my issues. For over 2yrs someone has been invading my privacy in every aspect possible. I finally had enough evidence for an IT guy to create a report that states IP addresses of where this data is being transmitted. The detective doesn't specialize in IT/computers so she couldn't help and my IT guy hasn't responded all day. I have a home phone plugged into my modem using a DSL filter. My PC is powered down-I attempted to make a call on the phone and had a dial tone but also VERY CLEARLY can hear what ended up being satellite radio-streaming. I may be incorrect, but I am guessing that whoever this creeper person is that is always "listening" and doing multicasting from my desktop to his IP address, I must be hearing what is being streamed to his computer through my handset because he was somehow connected to my machine? Is this possible? Looking for help/answers because I kept my phone off the hook all day to keep hearing this streaming radio in hopes that someone would be able to trace/capture-whatever needs to happen to find out the source in hopes that it is indeed the perpetrator and a warrant can then be issued. I'm in desperate need of assistance! If anyone could help or guide me to the right place for these types of things I would be forever grateful! Thank you!

Answer:URGENTLY NEED HELP-needing to trace/capture streaming radio source

Seen this before...

1. Is this a land line telephone or an internet based service? If you have another phone connected to a wall jack, just pick up to see if you are getting a dial tone there, or you can unplug the phone later (after you have had a chance to do some detective work) and plug it straight into the phone jack in your wall to see. If you want to see now, but don't have a phone plugged in, find one or borrow one and plug it into a wall jack to check to see if you have a dial tone.

2. If you have IPs that's a good first step. One thing you can do is Google the IP addresses. This will give you a location (not necessarily the correct one) of where the IP is reported assigned. It's sort of reassuring to get some measure of information on who is invading your privacy, even it it's not necessarily accurate.

3. I am assuming that you have Windows. It would help to know which version of Windows you have. It's a good idea in these days and times to make sure that all sharing functions are off on your PC. Pass on your Windows version, so that information can be provided on how to check to see if you need to turn off sharing.

4. What type of firewall do you use? Do you use the standard Windows firewall? Again, it will help to know which OS you use if so.

5. Do you have evidence of tampering, for example, with your files? Have files been altered, deleted, or moved? If so pass on a couple of the most dramatic instances.

Question: streaming live TV

Is there any way to get live tv (ie - local stations, cable stations like Discovery and Comedy Central) on my computer by streaming off the net? I've seen the software that claims 4000+ satellite channels for a one time fee but their channels are from many different countries and they don't show a list of available channels (they probably don't have discovery, comedy central, sci-fi, etc.). I'm looking for something legit (monthly fees ok) and that has plenty of HD content and I do not want to have to use a video input card.

Thanx.

The BBC has a selection of programmes here, but I don't think the other channels stream their content yet.

Question: Orb Live Streaming

Hey guys,
Its rajkalyan here.
I put Orb on my brother's laptop so that we could watch cricket on the TV through my Wii, but I couldn't. I went to Orb's support site and looked up stream video and found how to do it. It says to go to Video, Online Video and Select an Online video site (Don't know why this is bold )
Anyways, I could not find that menu. I went to Online Video and all I found was Google Video, Guba and Dailymotion. There was no Select an Online video site. So I wish to know, how can I stream live cricket from my brother's laptop to my Wii with Orb?

Thanks!

P.S. I still don't know whats with this BOLDness.. heh

Question: Live Streaming

On my site, I'm making a section on live streaming. For example, 3:00 this video plays, 3:05 this different video plays... you get it. I could create a simple PHP script which gets the time, and when 3:05 hits it will change the .swf/.wmv streaming file, but then someone can just change their computer's time.

Is there any easier way to do this? Preferable not using advanced PHP or action script?

Thanks!

Windows Live Mail does not have an "edit source" option.

But there is a way to get around this nuisance if you need to create a specially formatted email message.

I opened Microsoft Office and created everything on a Word document.

When I had everything (text, images, etc.) exactly the way I wanted it, I clicked on Edit > Select All, then Ctrl C to copy the message.

Pasting the message into Windows Live Mail worked perfectly.

It's more of a nuisance than not having an "edit source" button, but at least the results are exactly as I wanted to see them in the outgoing message.

Don't know whether to just give up. Trying to work on an older HP Pavilion computer which is clearly badly virus infected but I can't get it to boot from any bootable source whatsoever. Have tried Windows disks, multiple off-line virus cleaning CD's (KAV 10, MSE Live, etc), and a couple of flavors of Knoppix. The system has 2 optical drives but one is clearly broken, so I only have access to one. What happens when I try to boot from the hard drive is that I get the "windows didn't load correctly" screen with the countdown and then it reboots. If I try to boot from a bootable cd the system begins the boot process appropriate for that cd, gets between 15 and 45 seconds into it, and then spontaneously reboots with no error message. If I attempt to boot from the HP recovery partition the system exhibits the same behavior, 15 seconds into it and then reboot.

I have taken the hard drive out and put it into an enclosure and scanned it for viruses offline with KAV and with MSE - both found multiple infections they cleaned. I also ran manufacturer diagnostics on the drive and it passed. I put the drive back in the system and no change. I have a USB CD drive I attempted to boot from, but it exhibited the same problem - cd's began to boot then restarted.

Apart from being unable to boot from any source the system shows no obvious hardware problems - it doesn't make any funny sounds, no funky flashing lights, doesn't shut itself off, seems ... Read more

Basically i am looking at getting a new laptop to stream live sports in hd and wondering what specs I should be looking for. On my old laptop there is a little bit of lagging which is definitely caused by the laptop and not the streams as it works perfectly on my desktop. i was wondering would i be better getting something with more ram or a better processor? which is more important in this instance. thanks in advance

Answer:Specs for Live Streaming

Pretty much anything you buy new today can stream HD video as long as it's not one of those super cheap AMD single core laptops. Pretty much anything with a decent dual core processor and at least 4GB of RAM will work. If you want good overall performance than look at an Intel i3 or i5 processor base laptop and more than 4GB of RAM.

Exploring possibilities on streaming audio from website, any hints from the pros?
Is Icecast the cheaper answer for streaming mp3's. Any freeware that ya'll may have used in the past that may ease the burden?

Answer:Live streaming audio.

Here's an idea for you smart guys. Live streaming audio is very expensive due to bandwidth. Here's a possible solution to the bandwidth problem.

1. Server gets request for audio stream, downloads small client that acts as a peer2peer server for concurrent downloads to the PC requesting the audio. If the server cannot meet bandwidth requirements of user, user's client seeks other client's peer2peer servers to grab any missing packets that the original server cannot provide fast enough.
Each client download can include a encoded list of IP's from concurrent users to use as additional sources for the stream.

Any idea's, comments? Media must be cached in order for this to work, a small ramdisk can be set up by client application in order to cache and prefetch.
Of course, user has to be notified somehow that his use of the streaming client is contingent on some use of his upload speed, and client server should uninstall automatically on disconnect.

Hi! i have a online tv subscription, running through vlc. Occasionally its keeps rebuffering, so can i somehow test whether its server or client problem?

Answer:Live streaming rebuffering

May be your internet speed is not fast enough to make constant buffering unnecessary. That's the usual cause, not their server or your software. Be aware that internet speed varies throughout the day, with evenings being the worst time for heavy network traffic which can affect download and streaming speeds.

Hi,

I hope someone can help me. My PC is an HP Pavilion A6137c and my OS is Vista and I currently 4 GB of memory. My DSL is with AT&T. My DSL speed is 1.5. When I try to watch live streaming it freezes and stops. Does this mean I need to increase my DSL service? I have a Motorola 2210-02 modem that really feels hot to the touch. I thought this might have something to do with it.

Do I need a new computer?

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Slow Live Streaming

No modem (nor modem/router) should feel hot. The air vents are clogged, or you are not giving it sufficient space, or it is defective.

When I try to watch live streaming it freezes and stops.Click to expand...

Stops completely? It does not resume streaming after a pause?

I assume by "1.5" you mean 1.5 Mbps download. Is that what you measure with something like Speedtest.net?

I work in a Senior Living community. One of the most difficult issues we deal with is trying to set something up to work, like streaming a live feed from a church, while there is no one tech savvy on site. My current setup is having a laptop plugged into a TV and someone manually clicking on an icon to bring up the service, maximize the screen, etc. at a specific time. Is there anything I can run to schedule this to make this happen automatically? So that the only thing that needs to be done is the TV turned on? I would appreciate any help out there.

Hey everyone!

Here is what i'm trying to do: Find a wireless streaming solution, so i can share my wildlife cam with my friends and family.

I have uniden UDR744 security system, with 2 wireless cameras, and the only way i can view my cameras is if i use the monitor that came with the system, or downloading an app on my phone. I cannot view it on my computer or stream it to any sites (or cannot figure out how).

Is there a way to stream with these cameras? If not, is there a wireless webcam that's affordable and would allow me to stream without having a computer plugged in (as the camera is in my yard, that would not be ideal)

Thanks in advance. I can provide any relevant information needed

-Justin

Answer:Webcam And Live Streaming Help

According to the manual for your security system, it seems there is no direct way to stream this to a Windows based device.

There are 3rd party applications but I find it discouraging of the more than 2000 supported cameras with this application, not one Uniden is listed.

Frankly, I thought this would have a simple solution but it does not appear so. I will say it is probably a more secure system this way because then hackers cannot easily hack in and see if you are home, or if your kids, for example, are home alone.

I did find this, Uniden Guardian but it does not look like it has been updated in a awhile.
