Device Disconnect/Device Connect Sounds

Question: Device Disconnect/Device Connect Sounds

Every now and then, something on my PC will try to do something. I get the Windows "Device Disconnect" sound followed straight away by the Windows "Device Connect" sound. (the sound when you plug/unplug a USB device).
My PC freezes for a second while this happens then carries on as normal until it does it again. It can be very intermitent or happen up to 5 times in a row.
It can do it any time, but is most annoting while playing a game and it doesn't do it in Safe Mode.
I have done the stuff you say to do for Malware plus anything else I could think of.
I'm not really sure it's bad stuff on my PC or if some application is just having a hissy fit.
Thanks for any info you can provide.

Preferred Solution: Device Disconnect/Device Connect Sounds

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi
I've noticed over the last week my computer and my laptop are both having the device connect/disconnect sounds playing frequently and randomly. About once every 2-10 minutes, I'd say. I found that when I unplugged my modem, it stopped. How can I fix this annoying issue? Is someone trying to hack me?

Running Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1.

Problem:

I am hearing the Device Connect, Device Disconnect, and Failed to Connect sounds at random times, sometimes 2 minutes to 10 hours apart. No error window pops up when this event occurs, nor do any event logs record anything out of the usual when these events occur. It does not appear to be connected to any specific program or application that I run.

I have scanned my computer with multiple virus scans and malware scans. I have observed firewall connectivity and it appears that whatever is causing it is not trying to connect to the internet. I have full confidence that it is not an infection. I have also reinstalled the OS and applied the updates, but the problem is still there. I have done a driver check on all the hardware and all drivers seem to be in order.

To me, this is truly a phantom problem that has driven me to wits end. I apologize if the information seems lacking, but to be honest it's pretty much all I konw about this problem. I would be greatful for any comments or suggestions.

Answer:Device Connect/Disconnect/Failed to Connect sounds

What do you have connected to your USB ports?
What are the settings in your Control Panel to control the activity of the USB ports (in particular, any settings that sleep/disable that device when it's not being used).

The easiest thing to do is to disconnect all your USB devices and only connect them when using them. Also, follow the Safely Eject Hardware protocol when removing them from the computer.

Answer:Laptop keeps making device connect and Device disconnect sound.

hi koushikt,

Welcome to the Forums.

The Desktop Window Manager is a part of Windows 8 that manages the aero effects (i.e. Aero Peek, Window Coloration, etc.). From the screenshots that you posted, it looks like a problem with DWM itself as discussed in this microsoft article.

Can you try to:
1. Run Windows Updates to get the latest patch and bug fixes for your OS.
2. Update your display driver (if you have Intel HD 4000 Graphics, get it here)
3. Disable visual effects and reboot.

Let me know your findings,

Good day,
My system has developed a new system, which seems right out of the blue. My system will randomly freeze for a second or two, then it will play the device connect sound and then the device disconnect sound. It is totally random, and nothing should be connecting or disconnecting. I have not done anything new to my system in the way of installing new hardware. I have a firewall on my Linksys router. I just dunno what in the world it could be. I just know it is really terribly annoying. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I connect a device, oh let's say an ext hdd or flash to my pc, do my thing (normally xfr files) and when done do the required safe-disconnect procedure. A short while later I may need it again, but I always have to physically disconnect the cable/device and re-connect to get my pc to 'see' the device again. Is there away to do this w/o physically disconnecting the external device?

(I went from Windows ME straight to 7 and seem to recall that there was a 'detect hardware' button that would re-establish the device's presence on the pc w/o the hassle of removing and replacing/unplugging/plugging the cable/device)

Answer:Connect/Disconnect Device

The possible method is to safely remove the drive and then force Windows to re-scan for hardware changes;

Start|type Device Manager in search box|Enter|Right click on root computer entry|Scan for hardware changes

Would this program be suitable for your purposes?

HotSwap!

Time to get your virus definitions up to date and run a virus scan. Then run a spyware check. I use Spybot from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html Adaware is another good one.

Firewalls will not protect you from virus and spyware.

I have a linksys wrk54g wireless router connected to my cable modem. Off the router runs my desktop, roomates wireless laptop, my wired xbox360 and my roomates wireless ps3.

My problem is that when i play online games on my desktop, i momentarily get disconnected from the internet....for a couple seconds and drop the game I'm in whenever either the xbox or ps3 are turned on. I also get disconnected from other online programs such as aim/xfire but thats not as bad cuz i just log back in right away. It is pretty annoying and i believe it is a problem with my router somehow?

I am semi competent at computers and setup the network myself. Please if any1 has ideas or has heard of this problem before id appreciate it.

Answer:Network disconnect when I connect w/ a new device. Plz Help

sounds like you have a duplicate IP address on one the the boxes

get a connection and make sure you can browse the Internet using google
and search for anything you like (we'll use this as a test)

Connect a device and make the browser search again (even on the same words).
If you get disconnected, then the last device connected has the conflict.

Go to that device and REMOVE any static IP address and make sure you have
Automatic DHCP for the IP and DNS addresses on that device.

Hi,

At every start-up there is ether a Device Disconnect sound or a Device Connect sound that gets interrupted by a Device Disconnect sound.

This happens on every start-up, after almost everything is loaded.

P.S.
There are no Yellow !-s in the device manager.

Answer:Device Connect/Disconnect Sound at Startup

Hello Desmond, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You could troubleshoot by disconnecting one or a few devices at a time, then restart to see if you still get the sound until you find the culprit.

When you find the culprit, you could test connecting it to a different USB port to see if it still does it to see if you may have a bad USB port. You might also see if there may be newer drivers (if applicable) available for the device as well.

Hope this helps for now,
Shawn

Did you install Audio drivers from Creative Labs? If so, you may want to uninstall and reinstall them and see if that helps.

This one is driving me nuts . The "Device Connect" sound randomly sounds off. I have unplugged all the USB devices and it still randomly chimes. I even disconnected my Cable Modem and still get the random Device Connect sounds. There doesn't appear to be any event logs that would explain this. Watching Task Manager, the only thing I see using the CPU at the time I hear the sound is "svchost.exe". Anyone else ever run into this problem?

Walt

Answer:Device Connect sounds randomly

Well it's been about 10 hours now and I haven't heard the random "Device Connect" sound. I guess I fixed it. If anyone is having the same problem, here is how I fixed it on my computer.

I went to my Motherboard website, downloaded and installed all the drivers for my Intel chip set, Realtek audio drivers, and Realtek network adapter drivers. After installing all the new drivers and rebooting my computer, I haven't heard the random "Device Connect" sound.

I run Win XP. I am having no problems.

But two or three times a day I get the Microsoft Sound that is made when you disconnect a device, and then a few seconds later I get the sound that is made when you reconnect it. (As though, for instance, you disconnect a mouse from one USB port and plug it into a different port.)

Can anybody explain this? Or suggest where in Administrative Tools I might go to try to figure it out? Thanks.

I have an old hard drive for my pc that I would like to use as a backup device. Since it is not in my machine (and I don't want to put it back in), I am looking for a device that allows me to connect it via usb to use to backup my work.

I am sure I have seen these a while ago and they cost around 10-15, though I can't remember what they are called or what they look like, so I'm not sure what to be looking for.

Can anyone help?

thanks,

Hi all,

i need your advise pls.

I have a Samsung series 7 laptop with 2 usb3 ports and 2 usb 2.0 ports. On the device manager i can see the installed driver Intel usb 3.0 root hub and intel usb 3.0 extensive host controller.

I also have purchased a Samsung 64GB sdxc card SDXC UHS (I), that according to manufacturer it can reach speeds "Transfer Speed: Up to 80 MB/s Read and up to 40 MB/s Write". I have enclosed this in a USPEED USB3 card reader, so that I use this as a 64Gb usb3 flash drive.

My problem is that everytime I connet this flash drive to my laptop's usb 3 ports, I get the message "This device can perform faster if you connect it to a superspeed usb 3 port" (!!) so I dont get it! What is wrong??

Actual writing speeds, when i copy large files (eg movie) this is done at 28 - 30 MB/s while speeds when copying many small files (folder with many smaller images) is done at 10 - 11.5 Mb/s.

I also have a usb 3.0 Seagate hard drive but I dont see this message everytime I connect it. Also, the exact same test (with the exact same files beeing transferred) are: Large files (eg movie) at 90 - 95 MB/s while smaller files (folder with many smaller images) is done at 34 - 37.5 Mb/s

I know that the Samsung SD card can't achieve the same speeds, but I am mostly curious why this message comes up "This device can perform faster if you connect it to a superspeed usb 3 port" . Is my flash drive operating at usb 3.0?

Thank you for your h... Read more

Answer:Your device can perform faster when you connect it to a usb3 device

Hi Dionisis , I have a couple of USB 3.0 flash sticks that give me the same message even though I have them in a USB 3.0 port.
In your case it may be due to the fact that an SDXC card isn't really a USB device, I'm not sure on this. someone else may have a better explanation.

You can run comparisons using the same files and copying in the 2.0 and the 3.0 ports to see any difference.

On my Dell Latitude D531 laptop, running XP SP3 (2GB RAM), I have 4 USB ports - one of which I use for a mouse.

I hear the USB connection/disconnection sound frequently when I move the laptop from a stationary position to my lap, and, on occasion, simply when the mouse cord is moved.

I've tried another USB port, and the same thing happens, but seemingly not as often.

Any thoughts on this?

I upgraded to Windows 10 a while back. Every time I open the computer I get a pop-up notification telling me the USB device is unrecognized. I have no USB devices in any of my 3 USB ports.
I sent my computer in twice. No help. They just uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything and told me it should be fixed. It is not. I then went about updating every driver in my Device Manager. I uninstalled the Unknown USB Device and then updated
other drivers. Certain drivers (such as PCI Express Root Port #3 - 9C14) when updating would also reinstall the Unknown USB Device, which I would then uninstall and keep working down the list. At the end of updating EVERYTHING I scanned for hardware changes
and "found" the Unknown USB Device.
From what I can tell, and I know very little about this stuff, my computer can't name one of my USB ports. Since it can't figure out what it's called it can't download the proper driver for it. Since it can't download the proper driver it can't work properly.
The practical result from this is that one of my three USB ports does nothing when I put in any USB item (connect my android phone, thumb drive, presentation clicker, etc).
I've looked on tons of forums. My current thought is that if I can tell my computer what the deice is or download the right driver and tell my computer to use that driver for this device it should solve my issue. But I don't know how to know what the name
of the USB port should be (I imagine it woul... Read more

I just got a brand new Lenovo T420 and after updating Windows 7 (64-bit) and installing other recommended updates, it plays the Device Disconnect sound after startup. It seems to happen once everything is loaded, maybe about a minute from the time you see the desktop.

The screenshots below is my devices and printers menus not giving me the option to remove device and it giving me the option to remove a different device.

Answer:Bluetooth device refuses to disconnect

Is the issue that you cannot pair the controller with a different device because it latches onto the laptop or is it that you are trying to clean up the look of Devices and Printers?

If the former isn't there a way to tell the controller to disconnect from a device or to tell it to pair with a different device?

If the latter I cannot think of anything to help. I find the Devices and Printers to be pretty helpful, but feel that we just have to live with some aspects that don't work the way we'd like.

Unplugging the drive doesn't stop the sound and jiggling the (somewhat loose) adapter cable while everything is plugged in and running doesn't seem to change anything either, but unplugging the adapter card from the power supply does stop the sound from playing. The sound isn't that annoying and there doesn't seem to be any issue with performance, but what I'm wondering is could this become a problem for the drive in the future?

Answer:Device disconnect sound played after waking.

After you hear the sound, does the drive appear in explorer? Do you have to replug it to get it recognized?

Does chkdsk run on the drive on next boot or at any time?

Is the cache turned on for that drive, or is it configured for quick removal?

I've had this problem for several months now and have been unable to find a solution elsewhere. Maybe someone here can help. Here's the story:I was using a self-built machine. Suddenly, about 3 months ago, random USB device disconnect-like sounds started occurring (sometimes 3x in a row, other times not for several hours) - I disabled all system sounds and it still continued, even though I didn't notice any USB hardware blips). Two months ago, I bought the new Intel NUC7i7BNH, installed Windows 10, and within a few hours the issue suddenly started all over again.I've recorded the sound. Here's the link: https://soundcloud.com/finvarra/nuc-soundI have replaced or swapped out literally all my hardware (even eliminated USB devices completely and used bluetooth keyboard/mouse), disabled all Windows power-saving settings, turned off ALL Windows system sounds, tested the same configuration on *3* different computers (1 running Win 10, the 2 others Win 7), been on several computer help forums, pretty eliminated every computer-related fix Google (and several computer advisers) could suggest including testing all USBs and running USBDeview (with no hits) - and the same "disconnect" sound (or whatever it is) continues. So by now I have ruled out this being a USB or Windows issue. It's definitely coming through the speakers b/c I can lower the volume. I get no hardware hiccups. Usually, the sound is the 2 tone Downward disconnect sound, but sometimes... Read more

Answer:Random Device Disconnect-Like Sound - PLEASE help me stop it!

Are these speakers connected via bluetooth or do they have bluetooth support to where other devices portable devices are interacting with them?Asking this because it sounds like an issue my wife had with her speakers for her PC. They had bluetooth support and made a chime when devices connected and disconnected from them.

Windows 7 has been making the device disconnect sound and then the re-connect sound shortly after at a random interval. This has only happened today and I've tied it to Event ID 7036 in Event Viewer. I opened event viewer and refreshed when I heard the sound and checked for differences. There is an Event ID 7036 at the same time as the sound in every case. Each has the description "The Multimedia Class Scheduler Service entered the running/stopped state." What could cause this and why?

Recent hardware changes: plugged in multi-card reader, external hard drive has been plugged in for weeks. I've unplugged the card reader in the meantime to see if that was it. There have been no "device disconnected" bubbles or notifications connected with the noise.

Hello! I have a PC I assembled last June. After I loaded it up with my applications and connected my devices I began getting device disconnect sounds as well as a few device connect sounds. I've been troubleshooting by disconnecting all devices then adding devices back one at a time to try to find the culprit. I'm not getting consistent or convincing results so far, but will keep working on that approach.

A Web search on the subject returns lots of results where users are experiencing these sounds. Answers are sparse. And antagonizing! I have not found any hints as to how to extract from the system what is actually happening. What I am looking for is if anybody knows where in the system I can find a log that records device connect/disconnect events associated with these sounds. Anybody have a clue?

Answer:How to find Device Disconnect event in Win7 logs?

Dave

The best place to start is in event viewer. You want to do whatever you need to cause the problem and look in event viewer around that time.

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Event viewer (local) and look for the critical errors listed in the last day, week, etc. Then go to the windows log>application tab. Finally the windows Logs>system tabs.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ). If nothing critical is related to the problem keep looking it is there.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

Maybe you guys can help me figure this one out... because I am stumped.

I was using a self-built machine. Suddenly random USB disconnect sounds (the old windows DUH-DUH downward disconnect sound) started occurring (sometimes 3x in a row, other times not for several hours) - I disabled all system sounds and it still continued, even though I didn't notice any USB hardware blips).

Two weeks ago, I bought the new Intel NUC7i7BNH, installed Windows 10, and within a few hours the issue suddenly started all over again. Here's what I have done:

(1) updated all drivers with Intel Driver Update Utility
(2) swapped out a wired keyboard
(3) bought a new isb mouse
(4) used bluetooth mouse and keyboard
(5) replaced a wired USB hub with a newer model ( thought this was the solution - no sounds for 2 days, then suddenly 4 times today - sontinues continue with or without it running).
(6) disabled all energy saving options in Win 10 power settings
(7) disabled all windows system sounds (in the 1st machine, I even deleted the offending WAV files - still heard them)
(8) disabled onboard audio
(9) updated all drivers and BIOS
(10) reset Windows 10
(11) have no network printers
(12) shut down a Synology NAS (sounds continued)
(13) running a Sonos controller and speakers (latest updates)

I received no error messages in event viewer and nothing shows up in USBDeview. So it doesn't seem to be a USB issue. It MUST be some external hardware, but I have no idea what it could be.

Got kinda a off the wall one here: With my recent purchase of my new Windows 7 computer I added a fluorescent light above my workstation. Its around 21" long and mounted about 3 feet above my monitor and PC. Sometimes when I first turn on the light I hear the "bong-bong" sound of the device disconnect sound from the PC. This does not happen every time but I would say about 60% of the time it happens. I do not see any indication than something actually "unmounted" but this does have me stumped. I know a fluorescent light does put out a frequency but I have not heard of anything like this. I have stopped using the light for not until I can figure out if it is actually interfering with anything. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Answer:Fluorescent Light Makes Device Disconnect Sound

I think you've answered your question. The problem-causing thing is the fluorescent light. For some reason, flurorescent light causes touchscreens to lag and touch-pens miscalibrate too.

Why is the fluorescent light causing this problem? That I have no idea. But it may be related to what you mentioned about fluorescent lights giving out a frequency.

Hello!
I have a blutooth speaker that I use with my laptop. When paired, the OS (Win 8.1) identifies it as headphones and uses the headphones icon. I don't like that; I want to give it my custopm name and use my custom made icon for this device.

When I change name and icon, all works as supposed as long as the device is not unpaired. But since I sometimes need to pair the device with my telephone, I have to re-pair it when using it afterwards with the computer. And then all my customizations are gone.

How can I get the OS to remember my device and apply the nice icon and name I have prepared for it?

Thanks!

I am unable to use my headphones with my windows 7 64 bit HP Elitebook 8440 notebook. There is no option to even configure it

Any suggestions on how i get headphones to work on this device?

Answer:No headphone device option under sounds

Pockettes welcome to the Seven Forums.

It might be a new laptop, but it doesn't have the audio drivers installed. Give away on that is that any time you see the audio device listed as "high definition audio device", it is running on the default Windows audio driver and not the proper driver from the manufacturer. The default windows driver is enough to provide basic sound and not much else.

In your case go here,

HP EliteBook 8440p Notebook PC*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

to get the IDT audio driver for it (the first one listed, dated 29 Oct, 2010).

I am getting numerous Device Disconnected sounds and occasionally Device Connected sounds.
I am trying to trace the source of these and started looking in the event logs.
There does not appear to be any events with Critical or Error tags showing.

Should the Device Disconnected event create a log entry?

If it does not can one be created to give me a clue as to what has been disconnected?
Everything still appears to be working after a Device Disconnected sound is heard.

I have a projector on my network which has LAN connectivity for the purpose of emailing error messages (ie. lamp due to be changed).

The connection path is as follows:

Using cat5e, I've connected the projector to a 5-Port Linksys SD205 where there are other devices connected. The SD205 is connected to a 24-Port Zyxel via cat5e which is where all network devices meet.

The projector is properly configured with IP information.

I am unable to ping the projector through the network. The port to which it is connected gets a brief, intermittent flash. If I connect the projector directly to the Zyxel switch, I can ping it and access it via IE.

Bad switch, right? I thought the same so I swapped it out with a 8-Port Linksys EZXS88W but still get the same results.

Perhaps it is a quirk with Linksys, so I swap out the switch with a 3com and still the same results.

Why would this device connect when directly connected to the ZyXEL but not when going through the Linksys SD205? What does the intermittent flashing light on the Linksys SD205 mean?

Suggestions?

Answer:Can't access a network device.... Its more interesting than it sounds.

Are they routers or true switches that do not generate IP addresses (no DHCP)?

What IP address does the projector get?
What IP address do you have?

without using the stereo mix method, how could i make all applications play sounds on all my output devices. I want to do it this way, so if i want an application to play on just a single output(ex. headphones) i could just mute that application on all other output(ex. speaker, stereo, HDMI) on windows' volume mixer.
or if there is a software for this, i looking for designs as plain and simple as the default mixer and easily accessible. i don't want it too complicated.

(I'm desperate, i don't know if this is spamming, sorry.)

Answer:how to play application sounds on all output device.

Well, if you have two audio cards (an onboard and a discrete) then you can hear the inputs (line in, microphone) of one from the speakers of the other. For example, I have an onboard Realtek HD audio card and a discrete Creative SoundBlaster Audigy card. I can configure to hear the input of the Realtek microphone through the Audigy speakers, see photo below. But there is no similar setting to send a sound to all sources, at least not directly from Windows. I don't know about a third party program though...

What are you trying to do? You could use a Y audio cable to connect both speakers and headphones to the speakers output of your audio card, and then listen to which one you want or both. See picture below.

My Lenovo G575, Win7 64, stopped outputting audio today after I plugged in a Jawbone Jambox into it by USB for the first time. A small window popped up stating, something about software or drivers being installed (I don't remember exactly). After the (install) process was complete, I unplugged the USB, and the audio from the laptop no longer worked. I immediately did a system restore to an earlier date when the audio worked. After the restore, there was still no audio coming from the internal speakers or from the output jack. If I plug in headphones into the output jack, all I hear is faint static. There is not faint static, or any sound, coming from the laptop's internal speakers, however.

Next, I:
1. Control Panel >Hardware and Sound >Manage audio devices
In this window, it shows that my Default Device (Speakers, Conexant SmartAudio HD) is enabled. This is the only playback device listed, and the meter bar displays activity if a mp3 file is played, but still no sound.
I have right clicked on the playback device in this window:
A. Enabled and disabled this playback device, and restarted my computer. No effect.
B. Configured speakers. No effect.
C. Test. No sound, but activity displayed on the meter bar.
D. Clicking Properties in this window:
General: This device is enabled
Levels: 100
Enhancements: defaults restored
Advanced: defaults restored

2. Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Troubleshooting > Hardware and Sound > Sound >... Read more

Answer:No sounds from PC with audio device installed, updated and enabled.

Go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for your sound card (Conexant) to highlight it and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT check the box to uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound.

If there were a corruption between Windows and the sound card, this will fix it. This also fixes a lot of flakey problems and may take care of yours.

Regarding "

I just looked at the BIO setup.  It has 4 options, threee of them are enabled, the only not enabled is
Password Beep.  Are you suggesting that turn on Password Beep would eliminate this stupid power swich problem?  It does not seem to be logical.

Hi - I am hoping someone might me able to assist me with a problem I have with my Sound Card.

In device manager I have a Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM) which is showing as working ok and the device is enable.

However under Sounds & Audio Device Properties this is missing from both the Sound Playback and Sound Recording - when the drop down tab is selected nothing is shown.

Any ideas how I get this back so I can select as the Default Device,

Hope this makes sense

Many thanks

I recently recorded some songs on video at a concert on both an iPod nano and regular camera, and although the video came out fine, since we were standing so close, the mic must have been overloaded on both devices, and when they are played, they are just so muffled and distorted because the music there was SO LOUD. Is there any way, hopefully easy, to reduce the sound, and possibly recover some of the music so it at least partially listen to-able? Thanks!

In windows 10 mobile, I can go into my bluetooth devices, and 'disconnect' a specific device. In Windows 10, I can only 'remove' the device (which I don't want to do) or turn off BlueTooth altogether.
Does anybody know a way to just disconnect a device? For instance, I want to have my headphones connect to my phone instead of the PC.

Answer:How to disconnect a bluetooth device without turning off bluetooth.

'Remove device' is probably not the best choice of words they could have used on this! When you close the process (i.e. 'disconnect' your headphones) on your PC, you are performing the same function as what you describe on your phone. You are not actually removing the device, just closing the process. I hope that makes sense!

Hello,

I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Surface Pro 3.  I'm able to turn on Bluetooth and connect to some bluetooth devices.  I also have three "Bluetooth Smart", or BLE, devices.  I believe this stands for Bluetooth Low Energy.  Windows
8.1 is supposed to support it.  Typical BLE devices are sports accessories like heart rate monitors and bike speedometers.  My device manager shows that I have the Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator driver and LE Generic Attribute Service installed
correctly.

When I try to connect to two of my BLE devices, I get a message that says, "That didn't work.  Try again and make sure your heart rate monitor is still discoverable.
The closest I've found to troubleshooting is this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3020785

I downloaded the hotfix but when I try to install it, it doesn't install and says that the fix does not apply to my computer.  I'm not sure this is my problem anyways, because the symptom "After you confirm the error message, all discoverable Bluetooth
devices under new Windows UI disappear." does not happen with me. I just get the error message with no ability to pair the device.

I'm wondering if anyone else has any ideas, solutions or experience with this problem.

I am running windows 2000 at my office. I am constantly having problems with scanning. I use my scanner to fax but every once and a while I get the error message, cannot connect to twain device. The only things attached to the computer are a printer (connected to parallel port on back of scanner) and the scanner (connected directly to computer). I figure the problem has got something to do with the printer running through the scanner but since the scanner is setup that way, I assume it is supposed to be able to handle it. I bought the scanner recently, so the drivers should be ok with win 2k. I'm not sure what else to do. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. Also, could a possible solution be to just shut the power off to the printer when I get the error message then try to scan. Thanks.

It is a HP G60 series laptop about 4 and half years old, running Win 7. The "dee-dud" is intermitant, sometimes it does not sound at all, and at other times its off and on. Sometimes if I move the laptop it sounds
When I go into the control panel to "hardware and sound", then the "sound" area then "manage audio devices" then the sound tab where the "device connect" and "device disconnect" warning noises are sounding. How do I turn off the "device connect" and "device disconnect" warning noises?

I have no external devices plugged into the USB port.

Answer:device connect noise

Ricky, please don't make multiple threads for the same question. It advises not to in the TSG forum rules.

When I start up windows, I hear the sound of device failed to connect.

No error message shows on the screen.

How can I know which device is causing problem?

Thanks for your help

Answer:Device failed to connect

Hi pieren,

You may try a 'Clean Boot'; it is likely to help you in isolating the culprit. Please refer to the following 'web article': How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

If you are using a notebook; and an external mouse is also connected, unplug it and check for the 'sound again'. While researching, I came across a similar situation in another thread where unplugging an external mouse fixed the issue. You may also give it a shot, if applicable.

Hope this helps.

I have a device connected through ethernet.
i need to use it through ethernet but have no idea how.
In the files of the software of the device is a network.ini file wich shows a adress i can chance.
but i have no idea what the adress is i need to set.
i can also connect the device over USB and chance IP, gateway, mask and port.

how can i connect?

thanks!

Answer:How to connect a ethernet device?

That is not a lot of information to go on.

What is the device you are trying to connect?
Do you have a router?
Are you trying to connect directly to a PC without a router?
Is there a second device (or more) that you are trying to connect to, or is it just the internet you are trying to connect to?

I've been able to pair a device (Samsung S5) with my X1 Carbon, Windows 8.1 64. On both devices the pairing shows up. The phone works fine for bluetooth generally (can use various devices). Upon initial pairing, the computer shows that the phone is connected, but then this goes back to "paired." That is, there is no active connection (although the phone is right beside the computer). When I click on the bluetooth icon in the taskbar, there is an option: Allow a Device to Connect. It is greyed out. So basically, the computer will pair, but will not connect. Please advise?

Answer:Connect external USB device to two PC`s

USB auto switches are available from Ebuyer etc.A friend uses one of these to share a printer/scanner between two PC's, it works fine.

Hi, I am using T410 for a couple of months. its camera was working but it has suddenly stoppped working now. in the Win7 device manager it appears as unknown device and in details: -"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"I have tried re-installing drivers and rebooting machine etc but no help. Please suggest how to fix this. Also tried reinstaling ehci controller device but no luck. Thanks, manu

Answer:Webcam not working on T410, detected as unknown device in Win7 device manager

hey manugautam000,welcome to the forums, disable to camera from device manager and remove the current driver installed to it.reboot your unit, re-enable the camera. windows should then install its own generic drivers.test your camera with the generic drivers.later on, head to http://support.lenovo.com , download the latest camera driver for your unit. set your unit to diagnostic mode via msconfig and then install.

Dell Vostro 1400, Core2Duo. Installed Windows 7 64 bit a year and a half ago. For those not familiar, the Vostro is not entirely compatible with 64 bit, so the drivers are a little hit and miss.

Computer runs slow sometimes, has since the install. I don't think I've ever seen the yellow triangles before, but I may have never looked at the device manager ... the computer is a secondary machine in the house.

My question is, do these indicate a performance problem or can I ignore them and assume the computer is working as best it can?

Answer:Base system device, core processors yellow triangle in device manager

please check out this webpage. it may help you to get started: Device Manager - yellow exclamation point

The yellow icons showing an exclamation point can indicate missing or improper drivers. The system does not seem to recognizing your hardware. Hope this gets you started.

Hello, For no reason that I know of, the bluetooth facility on my little S10e has stopped working. I noticed a couple of times when shutting down I got a "BTstackserver" not responding message. I use the laptop to regularly download from a bluetooth enabled device. today, when I go to connect, I am told 'bluetooth device not found'.'Verify that your bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on'. The hardware manual shows the LED config and this is correct, If I press 'Fn' and 'F5' keys, I get the menu to turn on and off both the wireless and Bluetooth. I can enable and disable both wireless and Bluetooth with this menu option BUT when I enable bluetooth, I get the message 'One of the USB devices attached to the system has malfunctioned or is not recognised'. I have removed the installed Bluetooth software and re-installed using both bluetooth install files published on my S10e drivers list on lenovo. Neither one works. I know that you need to install from C:\DRIVERS dir once the installer has finished unpacking. I have tried various other obvious things but with no success. I also enabled 'Bluetooth co-operation' in the wireless lan settings. All I can do now is get at the Bluetooth device under the keyboard cover and have a look at that? Anyone got any suggestions before I get the screwdriver out? (The device is out of warranty).

For six months or so, I've had a problem where my laptop's audio will stop working. The red "X" appears over the volume icon in the system tray and audio will not function whatsoever. Until now, rebooting has been 99% successful at restoring the audio until it eventually fails again. But in the last three days, my normal quick fix no longer does the trick. Apparently my laptop can no longer find the actual Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD hardware on the motherboard. This is a T520 laptop running Win 7 with SP1. The T520 is roughly six years old, so I realize the hardware's age might be a factor. There are definitely other issues related to its age (general performance sluggishness, inability to wake up from sleep mode, backup no longer works correctly) and I will eventually have to replace the laptop. But in the meantime, solving this persistent audio issue will buy me at least a few more months, so it's worth fixing to me. I've found dozens of threads that suggest reinstalling the device drivers, which of course I have tried several times using the drivers here. The problem: After rebooting, the device manager still doesn't list any playback device ("No audio devices are installed") even with both "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" checked. Similarly, when I run the 8aad14ww.exe device installer, it terminates with an error message ("Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the device for this driver").  Has the hardware itself ac... Ok, I have a new SL300 and I installed a NEW Hard Drive and installed windows XP Pro CLEAN. I got ALL the drivers up and running with ONE exception. There is an UNKNOWN Device in the device manager and I can't seem to find what it does. Looks like everything works on the system. I also can't seem to get the Intel 5100 software to control my wireless card. If anyone has any ideas it would be very helpful! I ran a utility for unknown devices and that didnt find it either.

I'm trying to fix an hp pavillion dv6704nr laptop running windows vista home premium. It has the little red x on the speaker in the lower right hand corner. The owner said it has been there for some months. I have tried downloading the current audio drivers for the computer but every time I try to install the driver, I get an error that says the device couldn't be found.

The first time i restarted the computer, after the driver installation failed, the audio came back and worked fine, until I had to restart the computer. Now I keep getting the same error and nothing i have found so far online has helped.

There are no yellow triangles in the device manager and the device list isn't showing the category for "sound, video and gaming etc." at all.

Please help. I did a search but the other threads didn't solve this problem for me.
Thanks in advance.

Answer:No audio device installed error and devices wont show in Device Manager

I see three different audio driver packages at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...ct=3646926#N661.You need to find the right one to install. If you install one and the system doesn't work properly...please uninstall it before trying the next one.Installing the wrong one won't do anything harmful to your system...it just won't do any good to leave it installed.Louis

Answer:Lenovo Solution Center Shows Unknown Device But Device Manager Doesn't

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform that it is a false indication from Lenovo solution center. Since Windows doesn?t detect any missing device drivers within the device manager, there is no driver that is missing.
If the warning keeps popping up, change the reminder settings to ?never?. Probably, you have to wait for an LSC update in which the bug would be fixed.

Refer here for further information regarding the issue.

Hope it helped!

Best regards,
Mithun.

The AUDIO FADE PROBLEM is an issue with this laptop and I am wondering if it is related to the above.
I have upgraded to the latest BIOS and drivers using the Dell Product Support pages.
Every other day I have to reinstall the Realtek Audio Device to get audio from streaming media.
The current Driver Version is 6.0.1.7908 from Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Date 12/08/2016 which is what it defaults to upon reinstall.
I suspect that for whatever reason Dell has not yet come up with a fix. Has it something to do with the fact that although I bought the laptop new, it had been upgraded from Windows 8 to 10? (A fact that I only discovered later)

Hi,
We are using the Microsoft "Windows Device Portal" REST API to do mobile app side-loading.
Everything in the REST API is working for us except for the "uninstall app" which is a "http rest delete" call.
So, to troubleshoot, I thought I would use Microsoft "Message Analyzer" to see if we could see the http traffic coming to and from the workstation to the mobile device over the USB.
I didn't want to install the Fiddler .net library and it looks like if you are on W10, then you can use the Microsoft-Windows-WinINet-Capture provider.
My steps:
0. Start "Microsoft Message Analyzer" in admin mode
1. click "New Session"
2. click "LiveTrace" button
3. Add providers:
    a. Microsoft-Windows-WinINet
    b. Microsoft-Windows-WinINet-Capture
4. put *IPAddr == 127.0.0.1 as a filter
5. click Start button
At the top, I get an error icon saying "Modules Loaded  Errors or warnings were found when loading modules."
When I look at the log, these are the errors:
