Preferred Solution: I really dunno whats wrong

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: I really dunno whats wrong

Your Operating System and Internet Explorer versions are WAY out of date and represent a major security risk. After we fix your current problems, you must get updated. You need to install Service Pack 2 for security purposes.

Your HJT log shows no signs of the READ ME being run, please follow the steps below:

Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

well here's what happenswhen i push the power button....only the red LED would turn on the yellow LED wont....at this condition my monitor's LED is blinking and no display....if i kept on pushing the power button and once the yellow LED turns on, the pc would start up then hang while the windows is initializing or hang at windows start up....if i removed my modem, the pc would startup but later on hang....i dunno whyif i remove the cdrom and the harddisk...the computer would wait for both and would not start up....once i shut down the pc then start it up again....there are times when the yellow LED won't turn on and there are times when it would....uhm please help me on what is the possible defect of my pc?

Answer:help please i dunno whats wrong with my pc

Quote if i remove the cdrom and the harddisk...the computer would wait for both and would not start up....You probably don't want to remove the hard drive, yet. That'll cause you some problems.  Please post more specs. Like, Processor type and speed, motherboard model, RAM, video card model, and Windows version. Too much is better than not enough. When did this problem happen? Can you remember what you were doing right before it started happening? Give us as much info as possible to work with.

ok, so im not so good with computers, and im playing an online game, called Crossfire, every so often, a good bit actually, i get ping spikes, which freezes my computer's screen, no sound at all, then all of a sudden it comes back and a big burst of noise happens, then i play again.

i read your sticky, and my game isnt in the 'can you run it' program, so below is a copy of their system requirements, and my dxdiag.

NOTE:
-im on a desktop computer which is hooked up to a linksys wrt54g wireless-g router, which also has 2 laptops hooked up to it wirelessly.
-im using comcast high speed internet.
-im not sure if this is a problem, but my LINK light on my modem is orange, solid when im on the internet, blinking when im playing, then right when im about to come out of my ping spikes, it's solid orange, then after the spike it blinks again.

GAME SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

DXDIAG:
ok, i did the diagnostics, but when i open my saved notepad, its all symbols... what do i do >.<

Whats up guys. Alright well I'm building a computer, as I've built at least 3 from the ground up(been a couple years since I've built or even opened one up though) I figured it'd be a piece of cake. I'm gonna try and list as many things as I can as I'm not positive what went wrong. I was assured the components would all work together(reassured really as I had made a list of exactly what went with what). I got an Aspire Dreamer X-II case which comes with a 350w psu. I put in a gigabyte mobo, i915PL chipset and installed a 3.2 Ghz P4. I hooked everything up including harddrive, cdrom, geforce 6600GT, and ram(DDR 1GB 3200 Dual KByte (2x512) 400MHz). I pressed the power button, and the computer didn't turn on but the fans did, and they were kinda jumpy. I thought wtf and i unplugged everything right away except for cpu and ram, then (7hrs later) replugged in power cables to the motherboard, started it up, same thing but fans slowed down a little. I unplugged cpu and double checked connections, turned it on again(only ram and mobo connected to power or anything for that matter) and after about 2 seconds a chip near the ram fried. I took out the mobo and put in back in the box to take back tomorrow, but I don't really want to make the same mistake twice. I might even take back the ram and get a i915P board for the HD audio. I'd greatly appreciate any insight. Thanks a lot. Oh and btw I'm gonna pick up a 20-pin to 24-pi... Read more

Answer:Fried the motherboard dunno whats the problem

Hi m8,first Id throw away that psu and buy a decent one,a great 350 psu would only just be enough for a p4 3.2 and 6600gt and that aint a great one"the ones that come with case never are"The make and specs of it would be helpfull.

2 other power connectors you may not be familiar with are the 12v atx power that plugs in near the cpu"square 4 pin" and the video card power"a standard molex that plugs into the back of the vid card"

You also didnt mention any beep codes,I would guess you havnt plugged in your speaker to the mobo, check before you try again they can be really helpfull at times like this.

IMHO I would take back that cpu aqnd board and exchange it for an amd one,one reason because I'm an amd fan boy,but the other main reason the 3.2 p4 "presscot" core's are plauged with heat problems

look to the right and see how many worried p4 owners have viewed these threads for advice.

With the standard cooling thay can be hard to keep under 70 degrees c and over that they start to throttle, they slow down so as not to damage themselves, you may not even notice while using it,but its performance lost that you have payed for.

Well, my computer was infected with the PS Guard at least, and it seems that I managed to wipe out it. But ever since, my network is as slow as possible. Even if I'm not doing anything, my connection keeps working. I wonder if somebody out there is using my connection to access my PC or something like that. I welcome any king of help! Hello macaco and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. The first thing we need to do is update the operating system on this computer.Your operating system is extremely out of date. By not keeping the OS updated the computer is vulnerable to every infection on the net and in emails today and trying to repair an unpatched system is virtually impossible. For update purposes, Microsoft has even stopped supporting a system that is this far out of date. Go to the Windows Update site and install Service Pack 2. Once that is done, go back to the Windows Update site and install all available Critical Updates. This will patch the system with the most current security fixes and plug all the known holes which are present on this system. After all of the updates have been performed post a new HijackThis log back here using the Add Reply button and I will review it when it comes in.Cheers.OT

I'll recommend the easy way, even though some forum members can't seem to understand why it works. Install the NETBEUI protocol on both machines, and I suspect you'll be browsing after that. It's on the XP CD in the VALUEADD directory.

While I was looking through the forums... I started to think whats wrong with Internet Explorer 8 . Can you guys please respond.Don't get me wrong Im not putting MF or chrome down. But on my computer IE8 gets the job done for me and its not a bad browser as most of the tech world says. Also theres not a lot of features that Internet Explorer is lacking other than some few ads.

So please get back :?

Answer:Whats Wrong With IE8?

There are a few things wrong with it that are a more personally aspect than anything else.

For starters IE8 takes longer to load up than any other browser. Then comes in the aspect that IE8 has no ability to be customized for personal preference. There is no skins, no extensions, no spell checker built in and so on. Such things are what people want with today's software.

People want the ability to make the software their own. IE doesnt allow that at all. Even with the newly released IE9 there still is no option for such things. You cant skin it, you cant use spell checkers effectively. There isnt much that IE can do that draws appeal away from other browsers, aside from the fact it comes preinstalled with Windows allowing you access the the internet upon boot.

The other aspect is from the developers standpoint. IE8 uses coding that is specific to that browser. It doesnt follow any standards set forth by such committees as the W3C or World Wide Web Consortium who have gone to great lenghts to get web based aspects brought under a single standard so that a website can be designed and viewed under all browsers. This is so that they not only look the same but act the same in every browser on every platform. IE8 doesnt offer this. IE9 is Microsoft's first attempt at trying to follow such standards. IE9 follows HTML5 and passes the Acid tests. IE9 passes the Acid2 test but it is not 100% with the Acid3 test only scoring 95/100 on that test. The HTML5 test it ... Read more

Alright, so first what my computer is doing.
It is taking abnormally long to start up, and it started this all of the sudden.
When i try and open "my computer" it takes forever to show the C drive, e drive, and my documents.
When i using ie and i am in a web address, it takes approx 30 seconds to open the page. But, once it has opened that page, such as forums.majorgeeks.com, it will open it right away everytime after that, or any page associated. But, if go to google, and do a search, i can open the page right away.
I followed all the step listed in sections above.
here are the logs i have.

Answer:Whats wrong with it?

I just recently bought some new ram and its either, not reading it at all, reading it sometimes, or freezes on the post ram check. Using vista btw.

2 packs of KHX8500D2K2/2GN

because my 4G of Dual Channel Kingston HyperX 800Mhz was reading at 667Mhz and PC wizard said it was 333Mhz and noone could tell me why.

My motherboard is Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 and according to its memory support list, it supports KHX8500D2K2/1GN. The number at the end is a 1 instead of a 2 but thats because i bought mine in packs of 2 instead of 1... or at least im almost positive thats why its different.

So when i put all 4G in, the PC turns on but theres nothing on screen, i don't have a speaker hooked up because one didnt come with my mobo, but im sure if it were hooked up it would be beeping saying theres no ram inserted. So i tried each stick of RAM 1 at a time, 2 of the sticks get to post and then freeze at the memory check, the other 2 sticks have a 50% chance of getting past post and 50% chance of freezing at the memory check, when they do get past it, them it freezes on loading into the vista user select screen.

Question: whats wrong?

i cant seem to get very high speeds on my 3200 winchester. i can get up to 2.6 non stable and about 2.4 stable. i have OCZ plats rev 2's v1.1, DFI lanparty mobo, Thermaltake Venus 12 heatsink, and a modstream 520W. when i get to 2.6 it says something about a rounding error expected less than 0.4 when i run Prime95.

i have been running the mem at about 2.8-2.9V at a 1:1 ratio and my temps are fine.(mid 30's idle when OC'd).

what do you think is holding me back? i think it may have something to do with my RAM. it is the TCC5 version i am pretty sure because on the left side (i think) it said v1.1 should i give it more voltage or try setting the ratio different. i dont think its the timings because ive been having them at either 2.5-3-3-7 or 3-4-4-8.

anyone?

Answer:whats wrong?

Run memtest86+ to test just your RAM. That'll tell you if the problem lies in your RAM or not.

Also, change the RAM to FSB ratio or the CPU multiplier to set it at stock speed, just to eliminate possibilities. It could very well be that your FSB can't take the high speed.

Try different things. RAM at stock with processor running fast and test it and vice versa. Might want to try to set both at stock using seperators and multipliers too, just to see if your FSB can take it.

Are you lowering your HT multiplier as you increase the FSB?

I currently have two sticks of 512,

the problem is, when i put both in together the comp will not boot, but putting one or the other in on its own works fine. I got a message saying that the DRAM timings were out after rebooting with just one stick in the comp.

The weird thing is that this has only happened recently, they worked fine together for months.

XP Pro
MSI-865PE Neo 2
P4 2.53GHz
2x512
GeForce FX 5700 Ultra

Answer:Whats wrong wiv my RAM????

Make sure your RAM clock and RAM timing settings are both set to "auto" inside of your BIOS...Then try turning off the computer and putting in both sticks.

If that doesn't work, give the RAM a really conservative RAM clock and DDR timing to start with and try adding the other stick again...If it boots that time, you can then adjust your timings and clock to get what both sticks will support.

Hi,

I've just copy-pasted this from Bleeping Computers where I first posted this. I'd appreciate any help I can get here. Also, I assure you the minute I get a response from either of the sites, I'll advise the other site accordingly. It's just that I don't have a lot of time on my hands. I'm not sure if this is unacceptable. Anyway, here goes...the introduction is true for both sites:

My computer's started acting up and I can't seem to fix it and can't really afford to have a pro physically take a look at it so I thought I'd turn to you fine people. I've often just browsed through here and found other threads where people have faced problems similar to mine and used your help from there to fix my pc.

Anyway, getting to the point:

A few days ago I got infected. I use Spyware Doctor which detected and cleaned a few Trojans. One of the several effects of the infection was a sudden appearance of Zango Toolbar (something which has happened before) and some other software which I hadn't downloaded consciously. Once this was done, my computer refused to start up. It started restarting every time it reached the windows xp loading screen. I used my XP CD to repair windows after which it worked fine and started up. However, after the first time when I restarted the computer, the Data Execution Prevention screen popped up and stopped init logon and then stopped me from running task manager and then stopped me from running explorer. However, I manage to get aroun... Read more

ok this is my problem.

yesterday when playing world of warcraft my screen froze and everything stoped responding. nothing new in mmo's so i restarted then the same thing happened after about 3 minutes of surfing. then i rebooted again and it froze on the 'abit' logo screen.

so i leave it for a while, get into bios after reeboot, check temps-all fine. cpu is like 33 c mobo is something the same. so i reboot after a while, get into safe mode, run a virus scan and spybot. they dont find anything too serious. backdoor downloaders and the usual spyware i clean off my pc every other day.

i talk to a dial a tech guy and he tells me its maybe a failing hard drive. i did notice that my ati radeon 9600 pro needed updated but it wasnt a successful install for some reason. so then after i mess around in safe mode and clean it of nothing that seemed out of the ordinary, it worked. oh btw i also performed a system restore during all this.

so it worked all day today np but tonight it freezes again. as i type this im afraid of it happening again. could it be an outdated driver? could it be a failing HD. one thing i can tell you is that before it froze the last time i heard a click coming from my hd.

thanks in advance guys

Answer:whats wrong with my pc

Possibly your hard drive is going under. Especially
if you are hearing clicking sounds from it. Are
you overclocking your pc at all?

I would go to the HDD manufactures website to
see if they have a hard drive utility.

Question: Whats wrong....

I was given a PC a friend built.
It seems were running into tons of problems just trying to get the OS installed on there.

Here is all the information i can provide without pictures.
I hope this can help.
Hardware specs i know:

ATX 450W Power Supply
Abit KV7 Motherboard
DVD and CD ROM
AMD Athlon XP
Memory clock is DDR 266
Its running Phonix Award BIOS V.600PG
HD
Floppy

Well we boot the computer up and get a black screen. The screen reads:

"CMOS Checksum error - defaults loaded"

Then all it allows you to do is boot into the BIOS.
After i check the settings and make sure everything is ok, and reboot....I usaully get the next following message.

"CPU is unworkable or has been changed. Please recheck - CPU Soft Menu"

Then from here im basically at a complete loss. From what im gathering...It seems the CPU was overclocked before given to me - and is now ****ed.

But how can i be so sure? Since this would be the firs time ive ever dealt with a trashed CPU.

And suggestions would help amazingly.
Thanks guys.

Answer:Whats wrong....

You need to enter the BIOS setup, load the Optimal BIOS defualts, correct the CPU speed to what it shoudl be, save and exit. If the settings don't hold then you may need a new CMOS battery.

I'd also suggest you download the motherbaord manual from the ABIT website if you don't have the paper copy.

Welcome to Major Geeks!
Please do this first:
* Please download TDSSKiller to your Desktop
* Extract its contents to your Desktop so that you have TDSSKiller.exe directly on your Desktop and not in any subfolder of the Desktop.
* Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bold command into Run box and hit Enter.

"%userprofile%\Desktop\TDSSKiller.exe" -v

* Follow the instructions to type in "delete" when it asks you what to do when if finds something.
* When done, a log file should be created on your C: drive named something like TDSSKiller.2.1.1_27.12.2009_14.17.04_log.txt which is based on the program version # and date and time run. Please attach this log to your next reply.

Now:
Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Go here to download AlcanShorty_en.exe and save it to your desktop.

Double click the alcanShorty.exe file and follow prompts.
It will make a folder on desktop called Alcan Shorty
Open the Alcan Shorty folder & double click the run.bat file to run it.
This will download a file called BFU.exe and a BFU script.
If your firewall asks for permission to connect to the Internet you must allow it.
A message box will pop up saying "complete".
Be patient and wait for the message box to appear as it may take some time.
Press OK then BFU.exe will open.
Select the option to "Show log after script ends"
Execute the script by clicking the Execute button.
Note that you should see a progress bar while the script is being executed.
When the script has finished press "copy" and that will make a copy of the report in your clipboard.
Paste the log into Notepad and save it to your desktop to post back here later.
Note: If you have any questions about the use of BFU please read here.
Download AVG Anti-Spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop.

When the trial period expires it becomes feature-limited freeware but is still worth keeping as a good on-demand scanner.

Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double click it to launch the set up program.
Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

these problems have started since... i can't remember when. the specific problems are:
*my backspace is crazy
it malfunctions like almost always. when i type something, usually, in a search box and use the key it erases the whole thing i typed or sometimes it closes the whole window or dialog box. And the most epic is when it just doesn't work at all
*the dialog boxes or windows i open even, a simple right-click on the desktop, flickers or automatically closes. i have found that pressing the enter key helps ward off the malfunction somehow but it keeps coming back

these problems have been causing me wrinkles, fits of anger, bursts of profanity and mostly stress. i don't know whether this a hardware problem or not or a glitch or a virus but i have "tried" to get rid of it but... unfortunately its still there. i searched in the net why this happens and i found an article, also on a forum which says that it might be malware and there's this whole process to remove it and im sorry but im a lazy person so i just took the easy way out, i installed malwarebytes. it helped tremendously and for a day the malfunctions stopped but eventually they came back but atleast this time they're a bit less but still annoyingly noticeable. all the articles i've found have the similar problems i have but not exactly the same. so im just wondering, as a person whose knowledge for these things are quite basic... whats wrong with my pc? :/

I was just infected with the dreaded Trojandownloader.xs and Abebot (.exe). After trying numerous removal tools, I looked on several sites and read many forums. The common fix seemed to be the "Hijackthis" log posted for troubleshoot. Looked complicated with all that had to be done with the results from the troubleshoots. Thought I was looking at wiping everything. But then the wife says, "Try to use a restore point". I told her I didn't think that would get rid of a virus. I tried it. Found a restore point 4 days back. Virus gone. My question is: Is it really gone? Seems too simple of a fix. I have been running with no signs of infection now for about 18 hours.

Answer:Whats wrong with this fix?

Hi and Welcome to Majorgeeks

Yes at times and if the previous restore points are not infected then yes you may well be fine, so your wife is correct, I would though make sure you rescan your PC with your security software and even our guide here to double check, READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide and if nothing shows then you will have no need to post the logs.

Steps to flush System Restore points out Disable System Restore ( see Disable And Enable System Restore)

then scan again with your security software and have a read of this guide for some more tips to help prevent malware How to Protect yourself from malware!

He continues to get an hour glass.... or errors and the only way he can get out of it.. he has to close the browser. This closese all his open IE browsers. He continues getting error messages to submit to microsoft.

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:HJT Log Can someone see whats wrong?

There is nothing in that log to indicate malware ...that doesn't mean he isn't infected as the HJT program was not installed correctly.

Please uninstall HJT as it will be properly installed when you do the following:

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

Question: whats wrong here?

my computer has been really slow...and same with the internet sometimes...
heres my HJT log.

Edit by chaslang: Inline HJT log removed. READ & RUN ME sticky not followed.

Answer:whats wrong here?

Slow PCs are not always caused by malware!

HijackThis logs are not an adequate indicator of whether a PC has malware. That is why we do not ask for them to be posted until ALL other steps in our READ & RUN ME sticky thread have been completed.

If you want to know whether you have malware problems, the below steps are require, but just remember what I said that slow PCs are not always due to malware.
Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThisMake sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the followin... Read more

Not sure what happened, but here are the problems I have. I had AOL and Firefox open and all of a sudden both closed and my computer shut down and then restarted.

Since then, I have not been able to log onto AOL.com (I can log on to AOL thru my desktop icon without a problem.

iTunes was gone. My daughter was able reinstalled itunes without a problem and all her music was back.

I cant sign into my credit card account. It is giving me a page that asks for all my personal info (didnt do it).

Everything else looks ok. I dont see any new programs installed.

I ran Malwarebytes and SAS (full scans) a couple of times and it didnt find anything. Any advice on what to do next?

I have XP home

Hi and thank you in advance.

I am running windows 7.

My bitdefender antivirus recently expired by about a day. I immediately bought downloaded and installed the 2014 version. Right away my computer was sluggish and would take about 10 minutes to boot up. It got better after a week but not by much. I also installed some vst plugins from trusted sites. I began receiving flash update notices, real player notices and DivX player notices. it wasn't annoying and I didn't have the time at the moment so I ignored them until today. I turned my CPU on and waited the 10-15 minutes to boot and when I came back the CPU was frozen on the desktop. I waited a few minutes to see if it would begin to function but nothing. I forced shut down and restarted, this time it wouldn't even get to the bios and the screen remained on standby. I forced it off again and restarted it again but this time it asked if I wanted to go the windows start repair r boot normally. I selected the repair tool and it started to load but then had a series of glitches numbers in code line scrolling up the screen. After about 3 minutes of watching this I forces it off again. I tried 3 more times to turn it on and it wont load anything on the screen. Did a virus do this or does it sound more like a hardware issue. Btw, when nothing showed on the scen the external hdd's still lit up but the internal ones Didn't sound like they were spinning

Answer:Whats wrong here?

Question: whats wrong?

hey.
here's what happened to my comp
everything seemed fine (for the most part) until a few days ago when the warcraft patch 1.13 came out. i tried installing it but then it failed so i decided to reinstall it. the installer crashed halfway through with an error from something in my temp folder. i tried again and it worked but then the game would crash after the intro with a corrupted file.

therefore a desperate and frustrated me reinstalled my entire windows xp pro formatting the drive. now i have a fresh windows installation with only messenger 6.1 and the critical patches of windows update. i cannot install any program now. microsoft office crashes during the installation, warcraft crashes after intro, simpsons hit and run during installation. does this have anything to do with faulty ram or hd coz thats what i think i narrowed it down to?

Answer:whats wrong?

probably faulty RAM. check to see if the RAM is securely plugged it. and wipe off any dust from the copper connectors, with a DRY TISSUE PAPER. DO NOT TOUCH THE COPPER CONNECTORS!!!!

Ok, a few days back, my pc turned off and would not turn back on. I thought it was the psu and got a new one. I took my hard drive and put it one my sis pc as master but when it came on, i got a blue screen saying something about hardware failure. When i ran my hard drive as a slave, I was able to access all the stuff on my hard drive. When i put my sis psu on my mobo, the mobo comes on. However, when i put the new psu with her working hard drive on my mobo, it does not want to come on.
Can it be that the new psu is not working? How can i test this? That seems as the only logical answer since:
-her old psu and my mobo and any hard drive starts
but
- the new psu or my old psu and my mobo and any hard drive does not start
WHATS THE PROBLEM ??????

Answer:Whats wrong with this ?

Sounds like the mobo. Assemble it with just the CPU, one stick of RAM, one hard disc and the graphics card. See if anyhting happens.

I am trying to install a game. I have windows xp and i am  inserting the game into the CD Drive and it auto runs then i press the install button on the game screen and a window pops up saying " C:\WINDOWS|SYSTEM32|AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." It then gives a choice of Close or Ignore. Neither of which do anything to help.   Please can someone tell me how to install it. P.S it is compatible for XP!! as it runs on our other XP computer.

Question: IDK whats wrong :(

So i am in the middle of a game and suddenly i lose control of my keyboard and assume i am getting hacked because buttons are being pushed without me pushing them. I turn off my computer and restart without internet. I check my firewall and it says that an application was accessing my computer to i guess hack me. So i click block and terminate and all is well. A week later it happens again except that instead of losing control of my keyboard, the buttons dont register as what they should. i press "f" and it types "sfd" i press "b" and it shows up as " b" etc... I tried restarting, replugging in the keyboard, reinstalling keyboard drivers and other things but nothing works. I plugged in another keyboard and thats how im making this post but i like the other one better and i dont want to ruin this one to the same problem. here are the logs that are supposed to go with this post.

I recently did a benchmark on both my hard-drives and these were my results:

Scores (HardiNFO 2005 Enterprise):

1. WD 120GB JD S-ATA 8M - 10.99

2. WD 200GB JD IDE 8M - 23.51

HD number 1 is my windows hard drive and I have had it for about 1.5 years

HD number 2 is for storage only, and I got it much more recently (like maybe 6 months ago).

I think this is one of the reasons my computers runs very slow, do I need to buy another one?

Answer:Whats wrong with my HD?

move your document and application data to the second hdd. from pcworld

Quote:

Separating your data isn't as easy as relocating My Documents. By default, Windows XP or 2000 put your files in the Documents and Settings folder, but some files in this folder should not be moved.

First back up your Registry; for instructions on how to proceed, review April's "Windows Hacks" feature. Next, if you haven't already, use a program such as Symantec's $70 PartitionMagic or Acronis's $50 Disk Director Suite to adjust your hard-drive partitions. When the drive is repartitioned and you're ready to make the move, close all apps except Windows Explorer. Confirm that your PC shows hidden files and folders: In Windows Explorer, select Tools, Folder Options, View. Verify that Show hidden files and folders is checked, and click OK. You can change this back when you're done, if you wish.

Navigate in Windows Explorer to the data partition you just created (I'll refer to it as 'X:'). Make folders for each user with a log-on: Select File, New, Folder and enter the user name. Repeat the steps below for every user on the machine.

Your C:\Documents and Settings\log-on folder (where log-on is your log-on name) has four folders that likely hold important data: My Documents, Application Data, Local Settings\Application Data, and--if you use Internet Explorer--Favorites.

If you haven't moved My Documents yet, right-click the My Documents folder in Windows E... Read more

Answer:Whats Wrong Now

Hello bikeralley and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I do not see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean. There is one entry with a missing file so let's fix that while you are here. Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O2 - BHO: - {3a64281e-1c87-4406-b49c-46305ad2c4b6} - (no file)Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair. As far as computer performance, that would be a question for the XP forum. I would suggest posting a question in that forum and see what they have to say.Cheers.OT

Answer:Whats Wrong?

Could you provide us with your system specs (system make and model, processor, RAM, hard drive, video card, etc)? If you don't know this info, you can find it with this free download: http://www.gtopala.com/index.htmlAlso, please take a look at your Event Viewer. To do this, go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Click on the + sign by Windows logs, then click on both the Application and System logfiles. Please note any errors that you see. Finally, please go to Start and type in "perfmon.msc" (without the quotes) and then press Enter. Click on the Reliability Monitor and let us know what errors show up there.

Hello,
I've been working on my computer for hours trying to fix it and rid it of spyware. Winfixer and other popups kept popping up, so I ran all of the programs and did the steps to get rid of them. I still have an unusual amount of popups, though, so I'm not sure if it is gone or not. Also, my computer had a hard time starting up in safemode. it was basically a blank screen...but i still found a way to run the spyware scans. can you look at my Hijack This logfile and maybe see whats up?
Thank you sooo sooo much. I really appreciate it.

Answer:I still don't know whats wrong...please please help

You did not follow the directions for installing and running HJT properly. You are running it from:

C:\Documents and Settings\Helena Varnavas\Desktop\HijackThis.exe

Please go back and follow those steps properly before continuing.

If you are using WinXP or WinMe, make sure you have system restore disabled (per the tutorial).
For all OS types, make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

So, lately my computer has been REALLY slow. I am running Windows Vista, it is slow when I use the internet with either Mozilla or IE, its so slow that even when I open a folder, it takes a while to show the documents inside because its "searching". it really sucks because its almost new, I bought it in May and havent had any problems since then. It's a Dell Inspiron 1505, here are the specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 2 duo T7200 @ 2.00 GHz
Ram: 2GB
System: 32-bit

Since I have Vista, the panda scan was not able to run :-(
My operating system is updated with everything.

So, here is my HijackThis log, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

Question: Whats wrong?!?!?

Ever since one day during summer I have had some horrible problems with my PC. These problems include: Downloads being corrupt and not working at all, certain programs won't install or if they do the don't work, random restarts, Firefox closing randomly etc.

I really don't know what's causing this but it's getting VERY annoying because I want to put some games back on but these problems are keeping me from doing that.

My specs:

DFI Lanparty 250
1gb pqi 3200
60gb wd hdd
256mb 6800 GT
500 watt psu
amd athlon 3000+ 64 bit

Answer:Whats wrong?!?!?

you could try reseating memory, repair your windows installation, update all drivers, or destroy and rebuild the whole box.

Answer:help me, whats is wrong with my PC?

Hi rainy91 and welcome to TSF

Sorry for the delay in getting to you, the forum has been really busy and all our helpers are volunteers. If you still need help please follow these instructions.

Download Deckard's System Scanner to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, 2 text files will open - main.txt and extra.txt
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt back in this thread (do not attach it).
Please attach extra.txt to your post.

To attach a file to a new post, simplyClick the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box: C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt

Click Upload.

What DSS will do: create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review. DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

Ok so i have sygate personal firewall installed and it tells me what applications are trying to do what and such. An application was hacking me and i blocked and terminated it. After i blocked it i deleted the program. I thought that would fix it but a week later my keyboard was acting funny and i check my firewall and see that the program is still terminated but it was back after i deleted it. Each of my keys registers as 2 or more keys. When i push "a" it types "as", when i press "f" it types "sdf" etc. I noticed that it only happens to my most commonly used keys if that means anythnig.
I was wondering what i can do to find the source of this problem and how i can get rid of this jerk hackin me. Also, how can i reset my keyboard keys? They were clearly altered to register wrongly so there must be a way to make them right. I scanned the file before i deleted it with norton and norton didnt detect a thing, what can i do. i used hijack this and the log seemed normal. Also, i went into the file before i deleted it and there was a 300kb text document along with it that documented everything that happened on my computer. It said when i logged into an account for aim, what i said to someone and when, and when i opened an internet browser and where i went. it also had my pw's when i logged in. I deleted it again, plugged in a new keyboard to type for some help and now dont know what to do!!!!!

Answer:Can you see whats wrong with my HJT log?

Welcome vitamin water

I will be helping you under the guidance of one of our expert coaches.
Please give me a little time to get back to you with instructions.

In the meantime please note the following:

Any recommendations made are for your computer problems only and should NOT be used on any other computer.
Please DO NOT run any scans/tools or other fixes unless I ask you to. This is very important for several reasons. Here are just two of them:
1. The tools that we use are very powerful and can cause >>irreparable damage<< to your computer if not used correctly.
2. Commercial scanners, for the most part can not completely remove some of the more "resistant" infections. This makes it much more difficult to get rid of completely.
If you get stuck or are unsure of something please ask for a further explanation, do not guess.
A lack of symptoms does not necessarily mean your computer is clean.
Continue to respond to this thread until I give you the All Clean!
Please Note: My instructions to you are checked by an expert prior to posting. This may cause a small delay between posts.
Thanks

I'm usually good with fixing problems with computers but this one stumped me. For some reason (it doesn't matter what browser I use, they all give the same errors) the webpages have trouble loading. The error are different each time I refresh the page. This just happened one day. I didn't change any settings.
Heres what it looks like after I click search on google:

And this is at my.yahoo.com:

Here is all the weird things going on too:
-Slow Internet
-I tried windows update and it gives and error 80200056
-All my drivers are up to date
-During this past week it gave 3 random Blue Screens of DEATH
-Tried Factory Restore on my router and still the same

And for some reason this only happens on the three Ethernet computers. My 2 wireless connections are fine. No weird errors but it is a little slower then normal. Please if someone could help me with this that would be awesome! Thank you for your time!

Answer:Please Help, IDK whats wrong.

3 different PCs have the exact same result?
Are the Ethernet cards the same in each?

Please re-check the Windows Update error code - 80200056

Connect one or both of the wifi systems via Ethernet - same results..?

overnight my partner michaela downloaded a film from limewire that took several hours to do

she tried to 'burn' the film onto a cd but this was unsuccessful

since this happened, two further issues have occured :

a] the monitor keeps losing brightness, so much so that you have to switch the power on every five seconds at times

b] a box appeared suggesting we download a family filter

this post has taken me 40 mins to do due to the brightness going on the monitor !

i have tried system restore to saturday 22nd march to no avail

i have turned the computer off and on several times to no avail

i have run c cleaner and an anti-virus to no avail

when machine is restarted a message pops up about a file being ready to rewrite to cd

as you can no doubt tell, i am pretty clueless about pc's etc..........

Ok well I order this new Mobo offa Newegg i get it in the mail and hook everything up. Everything is hooked up the right way no problems whatso ever. I turn on the computer and I hear everything power on and i dont get anything on the screen =,=. Needless to say i was really agrivated. Ive tried powering it up with my 6800gs and my onboard graphics. This mobo was a replacement to an old one because it got fried. All the components have been tested after the frying except the chip. Also when i power it on i dont hear any beeping or anything. Its just all the components i hear. Anyways if anyone could help i wuold really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Answer:Whats Wrong Here???

So you're sure that the CPU is fine or not? I can't remember if the motherboard beeps if the CPU isn't working or if it just does nothing.

my desktop pc isnt working. it keeps restarting by its self. ive seen it restart on its own 3 times in a row when i turn on the power to the pc tower to boot up. i turn it on & it just keeps restarting. finally it will actually stay on my desktop & boot up but then immediately freezes before i can use it. whats wrong with it & how do i fix it? ive got windows vista & its a compaq about 9 years old.

Answer:whats wrong with my pc?

Sounds like a RAM issue.

What PC model do you have?

I think you need to try running a memory test to confirm the issue.

How many RAM sticks do you have, it could be just one is faulty, you could try one at a time to confirm.
Finally,
If you only have one RAM stick and the memory test fails then you will need to buy new RAM, just let us know the RAM details or take a pic of it.
