I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Webcam not working on HP Pavilion dv6 with windows 7

It's likely you will need 64bit drivers written for Win7 and the device.

Hi, I recently upgraded my OS to Windows 10 on my HP Pavilion x2 10-n018TU, but now the webcam is not working. And I was not able to update the "Doritos 1.0 - Ambient Light Sensor Driver - Win10 x86". I tried several times but it still failed to install.  Please help... Thanks.

Answer:Webcam not working on Pavilion x2 (Windows 10 upgraded)

Hi @Bongskie?,Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion x2 - 10-n018tu Notebook and issues with the WebCam drivers. I would go into the Device Manager and remove this Doritos 1.0 driver and software. The Ambient Light Sensor driver is located here: sp72639.exe Then try installing this sp72640.exe  Here is a document that will help troubleshoot the WebCam on Windows 10 using Youcam Software. Restart the Notebook and try the WebCam.Please let me know how this goes.Thanks.

Hi there, I am new to this site so hope this is the correct place to post this thread I have a HP Pavilion dv6 & tried to Skype my son last night but the integrated web cam is not working. I have uninstalled, updated river software - already on the latest version, gone in to Device Manager but don't have Imaging Devices so I found the web cam further down under sound, videos, game controllers & checked it was all up to date, it is. It is running a Cyberlink Youcam, other people can see me but I cannot see them. I have Googled until I am blue in the face but they all tell me what I have already done It says that no web cam is detected but the program is there!? I go in to the web cam & try & change the the destination or whatever it is but nothing happens. I have Windows 7. I check on Skype that it is picking it up & it is the only web cam in the drop down list so I am at a loss. Can anyone advise please? Thank You.

Answer:HP Pavilion dv6 webcam not working :(

If others can see you, then the cam is working. The cam is used to capture your image. It has nothing to do with displaying other images onto your screen.

So it sounds like you have a Skype or display issue, and not a cam issue.

Other than that, I don't generally use cams and have never used Skype.

I am assuming (very possibly incorrectly!) that I am dealing with a hardware issue as I have tried all the suggestions in the troubleshooting section. I recently have been unable to use my webcam on my HP Pavillion g6 101-4sa netbook and when I open the software (Cyberlink youcam) I get a message saying " connection to your video device was lost" when I click ok or try to exit the message (the only available options) I receive a further message stating that"  Cannot connect to the video device (USB Video Device). Please select another capture device via the settings or close any applications that may be using video device and retstart Youcam"  When I select ok the first message appears again and it becomes a cycle of when I ok one message the second message reappears. Therefore I am currenlty not even able to go into the settings. I previously was able to do so but after following instrictions on the troubleshooting page I uninstalled the youcam program and reinstalled it when I originally was able to go into the settings there were no other options only webcam 101. I have tried everyother option on the troubleshooting page for the webcam but have failed to come up with any solution. Would really appreciate any advice anybody could give me to help me to resolve this issue.

Answer:HP 101 webcam not working on HP Pavilion g6 101 4sa

What troubleshooting document were you using? If any of this is a duplication of what you already tried, my apologies. Is the webcam listed in Device Manager?Click Start > type "Device Manager" into search box > click Device Manager from list of results.Look for the Imaging devices category.*If the category isn't listed, or if no webcam device appears when you expand the category, go to Action > click Scan for hardware changes.*If it is listed, expand the category and look for your webcam device. Right-click the webcam and select Uninstall. Then go to Action > click Scan for hardware changes. If the webcam is recognized by Device Manager but the YouCam software still isn't working, try uninstalling/reinstalling the software again. If that doesn't work, uninstall it and then try downloading different software to use your webcam. There are freeware programs available that should work (Google "webcam software" for options and reviews).

Webcam has never worked.  Knew it wasn't a software problem as downloaded all the updates etc and HP help desk then wanted to me to return to factory settings which is such a pain.  So I said no thanks and then went to good old Google and the wonderful community of the world gave me my answer!! Managed to fix it by following the you tube clips about taking off front of computer (beval??) and then fiddled with wires to right of camera and lo and beyold it now appeared in my list of devices whereas previously did not even show up!!! I feel like Rain man thanks to all those helpful people who posted things earlier - thanks heaps

Webcam always worked fine (mostly using Skype). Now Skype says it can't find a webcam. When I try to run the HP Mediasmart software it can't see the webcam either.
I've tried downloading new software from hp.com (Cyberlink youcam) but when I try to install this it just hangs and never completes - probably bc I've seen something on the cyberlink site that says it will not install successfully if there is no webcam.
Running Windows 7.

have you dropped your laptop lately? maybe the connection became tangled or even disconnected.

However if it is software, have you updated the video/bio drivers of the computer, as well as download the drivers for the webcam?

I have a laptop from HP, Pavilion dv6000, and the webcam, which is built-in webcam and it always worked fine under windows xp. Now it does not work and I do not even see it listed anymore under Device Manager.
How do I fix that or do I need to go back to windows xp???

Answer:HP Pavilion dv6000 built-in webcam not working after win 7 installatio

If it's not listed in Device Manager then it looks like it's not compatible with Windows 7.

Have you checked HP's support site to see if there are any Windows 7 drivers for the webcam?

If all else fails you can always buy a webcam that is compatible with Windows 7.

I've owned this laptop for quite a while and had been using Webcam Central to control the Integrated Webcam on my Alienware M17x R4.   I never had any issues using Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or even Windows 10 until my system updated on 8/20/2016 with a scheduled Windows 10 update.
After the windows 10 update my system restarted and the next time I went to use my webcam I noticed that I couldn't control the pan / zoom / or tilt or alter any of the settings in webcam central.  If I attempt to change anything it automatically changes back instantly.  For example of I move the slider to zoom, or attempt to change the pan, it auto goes back to where it was and will not allow me to change the settings.
I also notice that my mouse pointer flickers over the webcam central GUI, meaning, there seems to be some issue with the GUI after the windows 10 update, I assume is also whats causing the settings not to be changed.
I have tried uninstalling both the drivers and software and reinstalling to no avail, same problem is present after reinstallation of both drivers and the webcam central software.
Wondering if anyone else has run into this and whether there was some type of resolution.
I was able to get the pan / zoom / tilt working with 3rd party webcam software, however I would prefer to go back to using webcam central.

I was also already running Win10 and it didnt mess with Webcam Central - till yesterday when I gave the reboot necessary to install the update files.Pan/Zoom/Position Arrows show as available to be used but if you try to use then, nothing happens and back to full zoom. Only thing it allows me to do is to change to Face Tracking.I called Dell Suport Center and for about 2 hours I ran diagnostics and tried possible solutions with the tech assistant but he wasnt very helpfull at all. All diagnostics came back with positive/OK/passed results and they offered me a paid support to fix the problem. Not exactly a good solution, is it?It was clear though MS updates messed up with the webcam driver - I checked myself at Devices/Imaging there was an update for the driver done exactly when MS updates were done. Unfortunatelly, the rollback option wasnt available. For that matter, I decided to uninstall the whole Windows KB3176938 and CAPICOM (what ever that is) updates done using Control Panel/Updates but no-go. Next step was to google for that problem which leaded me to other Dell Forum threads pointing to reinstall Webcam Central which also didnt work at all then I bumped into your threa... Read more

The problem simply is, the webcam stopped working for some reason, an error messeage says "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer".

I noticed that whenever I put the computer in sleep mode I was getting on the icon tray a notification says "USB device unrecognized"... I wasnt aware what it was - thought it becasue of the USB mouse being plugged... but I think its related to the camera...

software is installed but camera is not working and cant enable it .. I did download the latest driver from toshiba site , but still not working ...

Currently my laptop runs Vista HP SP2 32-bit, Windows defender enabled, Windows Firewall Enabled, Windows UAC enabled, Kaspersky Ani-Virus 2009 Enabled. I only use Windows Live Messenger (which up to date I think , version : 14.0.8089.726) which i used camera with, I quite using face recognition long time ago and rarely use the webcam ... I didnt install or update any drivers and used to have the laptop running perfectly..

So what happened now ?!

Answer:Satellite A300-1G5: webcam stopped working - Webcam driver open fail

Hi

I have had a similar error message and could solve this by disabling the webcam software from startup.
In msconfig -> Start Up tab I have unchecked the Chicony webcam software.
This prevents it from automatic loading.
I don?t use MSN but Skype and the Chicony webcam software is always disabled (not executed) if Skype is running.

Maybe you should try this too.

Furthermore you could try this:
Go to device manager, mark the webcam (imaging devices ? USB video device) and deleted it from the device list.
Then reboot the notebook and wait until the webcam has been recognized again.

Then test it.

After looking through this forum, I have tried several 'solutions' but to no avail.

After trying to load the webcam i get the message: "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer"

I have tried updating the Driver software for the camera, and updated the BIOS.

This message still keeps coming up. Is it worth uninstalling the camera completely then attemtping to reinstall it?

Sorry if some of this doesnt make much sense, im not entirely "computer savvy"

I hope somebody can help,

Thanks,

> Is it worth uninstalling the camera completely then attemtping to reinstall it?
Of course!

You should firstly go to device manager and should uninstall the driver.
You should also remove the software from control panel -> Software

After that you should clean the OS and registry using CCleaner. It?s free tool? google?
Then reboot the notebook several times and install the webcam software again.

Cheers

discovered the solution the other day. Go here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03430151 and scroll down to the heading: Video does not display in your webcam software (such as YouCam, Skype, Messenger, etc.) Then, follow Step 3: Update or change the webcam driverWhat you're going to be doing is changing the camera driver to the, Microsoft USB Video Device driver. This solved the problem.

Recently my webcam has just stopped functioning. This laptop is brand new however and I just got it on the 14th.
I have no clue why it wont' work anymore. I checked under device manager and under Imaging devices its called "facap, FastAccess Video Capture".
I enabled it, for some reason it had become disabled, and it wouldn't work. And it seems no Driver updates are available. Also have tried reinstalling the driver but it didn't work. I then uninstalled the old driver and tried to install the driver and it failed. So I used Windows Restore Point feature thing. Now its just disabled.
Any ideas on how to fix it?

Apparently FN+F9 will enable or disable the webcam!
It seems that I had done this inadvertently at some point and turned it off, and while messing around for a solution the other day, II tried the combo it turned back on the webcam!
Quite a powerful key combination I have to say if manually enabling the web cam and reinstalling the web cam driver don't do anything.

Hi shaivalshah50,
Good work on troubleshooting. If you have updated the BIOS, ran the diagnostics and still if you find webcam not detected then it should be faulty.
Also, I would suggest you to restore the system back to previous operating system to check if webcam works.

WEBCAM NOT WORKING. I have a Toshiba DX730 All-in-One desktop PC running Windows 10. Since I upgraded to Windows 10 my integrated webcam has not worked. I have unsuccessfully tried the following:-

1. Checked the BIOS to ensure the webcam is enabled - it is.

2. Uninstalled/installed the appropriate drivers from Toshiba Support numerous times, including after a clean boot.

3. Uninstalled the hardware from Device Manager numerous times. An interesting point here is that the webcam does not appear in Device Manager under Imaging Devices, but is shown under Other Devices as USB 2.0 Camera, next to which is the dreaded yellow exclamation mark. Right clicking this and selecting Properties always shows that no driver is installed. I've run Driver Update and pointed it to the appropriate folder, but Windows always fails to find the driver.

4. Uninstalled Skype, just in case it was causing a conflict.

5. Run the software in compatibility mode.

None of this has worked!! When I open the Camera app the following error message appears "Something went wrong. Make sure your camera is connected and not being used by another app". Skype cannot detect a webcam.

I've finally found a way to resolve the inverted / vertically flipped / upside down webcam issue with the Chicony camera in the X220T and others when viewed with the Windows 10 Camera App.  FIrst, install the Windows 7 webcam driver for the X220T. This will create an error in the Windows 10 Camera App.  Then install the ThinkVantage Communications Utility. In the Windows Control Panel, click "Hardware and Sound", then "Lenovo - Web Conferencing". In the "Advanced Camera Settings", check "Flip" until the webcam image is the right way up.  Now, in Device Manager, go to "Imaging Devices", then right click on "Integrated Camera" and click "roll back driver". If this option is greyed out, click "Update Driver", "Browse my Computer", "Pick from a list", select "USB Video Device", then click next.  The webcam driver now in use should be the default one from Microsoft. However, if you go back to the Windows 10 Camera app, the webcam image is the right way up! Hooray! P.S. Considering the solution is so simple (probably due to some entry in the registry), I wonder why Lenovo hasn't already issued a permanent fix for this?

So recently my computer was re-installed with a fresh copy of windows 7, and not the packard bell windows 7 previously installed.

Everything works perfectly except my webcam, which doesn't seem to work at all or with any program.

I think this could be because I don't have the webcam driver installed as this driver wasn't included in this version of windows 7.

I have scoured the download section of the Packard bell website and there is no webcam driver listed with the other drivers for this computer.

I can't even find the driver after doing a google search :(

What do I do???

My computer is a Packard bell Easynote TK37.

Thank you :)

hi everyone...
i'm a newbie here, desperately need some help regarding to this issue

before i re-install windows 7 ultimate, built in camera was working properly. and now my webcam is nowhere to be found, oh and ASUS hotkey utility also not working properly after i re-install it.

i've been searching all over the web for the last 4 days
tried by uninstalling n installing the built-in camera driver but it's still not working.

i checked in device manager, imaging devices, properties in the general tab and it says something like this in the location info:

0000.001d.0000.001.001.000.000.000.000 and it says "this device is working properly"

out of curiosity i also tried another cam/ plug-in usb webcam (it's still work properly in my friend laptop) and the result still the same, nothing happened in my laptop. the location info also says something like i mention above.

it's like my webcam is lost somewhere in my laptop, I hv no idea why windows won't detect it?

can anyone help me, i would really appreciate all your efforts, hope i could get some clue of what happen and resolve this issue. thank u

Good afternoon everybody, hope you had a great Christmas.

Unfortunately, one of the gifts I received this Christmas, a webcam (specificially, this webcam), refuses to work on my Windows XP Home computer.

The drivers appeared to install fine (although there was a warning about a missing streamci.dll, which I later put into my system32 folder), however when I try to view the webcam by going into My Computer > Webcam, it gives the following error message -

I realised that it may be a hardware problem, but the product works fine on a friend's Win XP Home laptop with similar specification. To make sure it was a fault with my computer in particular, I tried the webcam function of a conventional digital stills cam and the result was the same - worked fine on the laptop, but the same error occured on my computer. Consequently, I posted the problem here, suspecting it was related to my Win. XP installation as opposed to a hardware fault.

If anyone has any idea how I could go about trying to fix this problem, I would be hugely grateful. Is there any part of Windows I could reinstall or repair relating to its webcam support?

A massive thanks in advance to anyone who can give any help whatsoever.

PS: Service Pack 2 is installed on both systems.

Answer:Windows' webcam component not working(?)

First go to the device manager and check you’re USB for any flags. If there is a flag, remove the device that it is beside and restart the computer and have windows replace it. If there is no flag go into the BIOS and check and see if the USB port is enabled or disabled make sure that it is enabled.

Try this: 1) uninstall the drilvers. (restart if it asked)2) let windows install it's default drivers and see if that works.

Hi,
Could somebody possibly help me out? I've just upgraded from windows 7 to 10 and my webcam (inbuilt on laptop) doesn't seem to be working. I've checked the settings within the camera app and they seem fine. Also have an issue with viewing YouTube videos on Edge - I can't view them (?). Help/pointers appreciated - thanks!

Answer:Why isn't my Webcam / camera working after the upgrade from Windows 7 to 10?

Regarding camera, check device manager. If there is exclamation or x mark there, you probably need to install a driver. Get the driver from the laptop website. You should be able to use windows 8 driver if 10 is not available.

I have a Logitech C250 webcam. As soon as I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista, I was no longer able to connect to people through Logitech Vid or Skype. I plugged the camera into my second computer with XP and it works fine.

I have uninstalled the drivers and software from my Windows 7 machine and got new software and drivers from Logitech's site specifically for Windows 7, but it still won't work. Logitech support is worthless. They blame my connection but it works just fine on other machines.

Any help would be great!

What firewall, antivirus are you using. Current version of WLM?
We could also use the system specs (lower left corner) filled in so we know what hardware you have. 32bit or 64? clean install or upgrade?

Have you r-installed skype?

Does it do the same thing when booted in safe mode (F8)?

is the driver installed and working (in device manager)??

Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If your driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

what driver did you install? was it win 7, vista, or??????

Ive tried to reinstall everything. I dont have the original CD. Where can I download the drivers or get the webcam working?

In Device Manager, under Monitors, it shows Dell S2340T (HDMI), but does not show anything under videos. I updated my Windows from XP to 7 as it crashed and now Ive updated it to Windows 10, and I think I lost all the drivers then.

Hi,

I've just bought a Samsung R580 and the built-in webcam is working fine on skype and everything else except for msn messenger. When I connect on video chat with someone, I can see myself but they can't see me and I can not see them, checked my firewall settings- using Mcafee and windows live messenger has full access. I also tried it with my Logitech Quickcam, downloaded softwares too... same thing, I can see myself - webcam is working but people can't see me and I can't see them. Funny thing is it worked once briefly.

And on another chat platform, video is connecting fine but unable to connect to server. It occasionally connects briefly then logs off in 2 minutes.

OK after spending hours trying to fix it- webcam on windows live messenger, was falling asleep and it dawned on me found the webcam in device manager, uninstalled the drivers for built-in cam then restarted the system, they got reinstalled automatically and now it is working fine!

Then, the voice went out on Skype so we started using Yahoo messenger..then the camera went out on messager...I went and bought both an external webcam and microphone and neither would work at the same time but every once in awhile one would work. Currently I can get voice on skype and that's it. Skype doesn't even give me the option of a webcam anymore and when i try with messenger it says no connection found. I'm not a computer smart person and I've tried and tried to get the camera working. I have no idea what to do about it now..I'm almost to the point of just buying another computer. Hi There

All the USB ports in my HP Pavilion dv6-3122sa PC stopped working a few weeks ago. I tried to revert to a restore point but no luck.

I have now reinstalled the Windows 7 O/S and the USB ports are still not working.

Can you please suggest any resolution?
Thanks

Answer:USB ports in HP Pavilion Windows 7 not working

Could be the ports have failed, they are part of the motherboard. I'd get a Linux LiveCD or LiveDVD .iso/image file to use in creating a bootable disc and boot to it, see if the ports work. There's several good ones and are free, I use the Linux Mint flavor, have version 13 on an older Notebook with Centrino [won't support a newer version] and version 17 on a newer Notebook. Doing so will determine if it's a hardwire problem or not. If not hardware then it must be the drivers for the motherboard such as for the chipset or other.

I purchased a Pavilion dv9000t recently with Vista Ultimate and decided to run it on XP Pro until Vista becomes more useful. Figured out that I needed to disable the native SATA support in the and BIOS and installed XP Pro. I am going to add a second 100GB 7200 rpm SATA drive to the system shortly.

Everything is working well except for the webcam. It simply doesn't work. In the device manager, it shows up as "USB Video device" instead of "HP Webcam 1000." I see a "USB Video Device" in "My Computer" but when I double click on it, I am told: "Creation of video preview failed. Please check the device connection and make sure that the device is not being used by another application or user." When I try to use the webcam with Skype or other programs, I am told that webcam is not connected. By the way, the webcam did work, sort of, when I tested it with Vista. I say sort of because I made a recording and the recording quality was BAD.

I have tried to install the XP driver for webcam from HP's website (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3224058&os=228&lang=en) but that didn't do anything.

Thanks for any helpful ideas.

The Webcam on this laptop has been working fine for some time, but just recently it stopped working and I believe this occurred after one of the automatic upgrades. Following considerable investigation I find that I have 2 drivers under Imaging devices, they are as follows.

A Intel(R) Imaging Signal Processor 2400
B Intel(R) AVStream Camera

When it stopped working B was the driver showing under Imaging devices.

I also discovered that when I "updated" the driver and selected A the webcam worked and I thought problem solved but when I close down and then restart the webcam no longer works. The device listed in Device manager is still A. If I "update " still driver A the webcam works again.

Driver B is still present but only when I get to "Select the device driver to install". I do not select it.

How can I get out of this loop? Will deleting driver B help and if so how do I do this?

Any help appreciated.

Didn't the devices come with an installation CD? AND did you use it before plugging in the Cams? Usually the 'yellow flag' implies that there may be a driver installation problem..wrong or missing.

Hello, I recently upgraded to windows 8 and I have everything working so far except for the webcam. I've installed the drivers so that when I go into device manager under Imaging devices it lists Integrated Camera and Camera Plus and device manager says both of these are updated and working the fine. However, when I use the Camera app which I get to from Windows 8 metro all I see is a cartoon of a camera crossed out. The yellow webcam light does turn on, but it's not working. The same thing happens when I try to do a video recording in Microsoft OneNote 2007, which I used to be able to do.  I've tried to uninstall the webcam drivers and reinstall it, but it still isn't working. I've tried doing hardware scans and update scans in the Lenovo Solutions Center but it says everything is fine. Any suggestions would be really helpful. If I can't get everything to work in Windows 8 I'm switching back to Windows 7, which I made a backup disc of. Thanks,-Noora

Answer:X230 tablet Windows 8 upgrade, webcam not working

I think I finally fixed it actually, sorry about that. I just kept installing drivers from the Lenovo website and it's working now. The camera program that you access through Metro says the camera is only 0.9 pixels though, and I thought the camera was more than that.  Is there a way to tell if I've installed all the necessary drivers? I have done multiple software scans with Lenovo Solution Center but even when the camera wasn't working it said I had no updates, so that's why I kept installing drivers from the website.  Also, does anyone know the driver to make the wacom pen right click button work? I really miss that One thing I think is better with Windows 8 actually is the screen orientation change button. It's way faster than in Windows 7! I also like that it doesn't do it automatically, because I don't always want it automatic.

Hi,
im currently in university accomodation with free broadband internet use, this is good but it is restricted in the fact that not all ports are useable, torrents limewire etc are all blocked which is fine for me.

However i like to use msn and more specifically video chat. This worked fine in the first couple of weeks that i was here, however i tried again more recently and it seems it doesnt work for me. It does for other people in my accomodation block. When i try to enable my webcam it displays the image from it and says connecting, then live messanger just says it cannot connect, try again later.

I have reinstalled live messanger, tried using windows messanger (forgot how awful that was) and i have gone into networking services and enabled UPnP. I have tried with a number of contacts with no avail. I have also tried a new webcam which was no help, both webcams work on the pc, recording videos and taking pictures, but not on msn or live messanger.

Ive tried searchin google to no avail, im using xp so the thread on here about vista doesnt help me.

My copy of xp is fully updated, windows firewall is enabled and im using a NOD32 protection suite with IMON internet monitor included.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give as much detail as possible,
Does anyone have any ideas whats up?

Thanks,
Khris

I have just installed the latest Yahoo Messenger (v.10) on a new Windows 7 (x64) platform, and I can't get my webcam to work. All I get when I try --> Messenger --> My webcam is a black screen. In other words, my webcam does not broadcast. My webcam seems to be correctly connected and installed on my PC with the latest drivers ("The device is working" ). And I can use my webcam with other applications, like Skype, on Windows 7, with no problems. I use a desktop PC with a USB webcam.

By the way, I can see the video image from the webcams of my YM contacts when I am in a video conversation with them. So, no problem the other way.

I have also tried to un-install/re-install both the webcam (Windows 7 re-installs it automatically) and YM. I have also tried the previous versions of YM (v.9 and v.8) I have also gone through all the camera settings in YM. But still no chance.

I have already searched the Net, and I found several other YM users reporting the same problem when they try to use their webcam with YM on Windows 7, but I could not find any solution.

Is there a well known problem related to the use of a webcam with YM on Windows 7 ?

Could someone help me ?

Answer:[Help requested] Webcam not working on Yahoo Messenger with Windows 7

Since it is working in other applications, it can only be the settings or a feature of YM that is not yet working (in win 7 at least). Are you able to try with another webcam?

Hello,I upgraded my w520 from Win 7 to Win 8 last year with zero problems. Now I upgraded my W520 Win 8 to Win 8.1 via the store download. Except the webcam everything works fine. In e.g. the Skype desktop application, Google Hangouts or the camera app, the built in webcam no longer works. The green light turns on, but I just get the crossed out camra icon in e.g. the Skype video options. No video. I see there are no drivers yet for Win 8.1 on the Lenovo support site for the w520 camera. In device manager it still shows the 2011 camera driver 1.1.0.1147 and says "This device is working properly." But it does not work properly.Did anyone get the camera to work or is it just a matter of waiting for a driver to be released eventually?I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, camera is enabled in the Bios and permissions are set to give Skype and the camera app access to the camera. I also tried the W530 drives as was suggested elsewhere. Thank you!

Answer:W520 webcam no longer working after Windows 8.1 upgrade

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I'm really sorry to hear that when you try to use webcam in your Lenovo ThinkPad W520, you are getting a crossed camera image.

Check if your camera is in normal or private mode. This could be happening because you might have set your camera in private mode.
Go into Lenovo Settings App on Metro view, and select camera.
There will be the options of Private and Normal.
Select Normal.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

I upgraded my wife's Laptop to windows 10 from windows 7 last year and it seemed to work fine. She just went out of town and tried to use Skype to video call me but the webcam isn't working. The Audio works fine and Skype worked fine on windows 7. I had her push FN+ESC and it told her that there is no Webcam installed. I connected to her laptop via Teamviewer and tried to check the Device Manager Imaging Devices, but there was no entry for Imaging Devices. I downloaded the Camera Driver(Bison, Chicony) for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Lenovo G460, G560 Lenovo G560 driver for windows 8 (no driver available for win10) and tried to install it but no luck. I'm wondering if there is a Microsoft Generic Webcam driver that might work, but this is her work machine so I don't want to remotely install drivers willy nilly. Thanks

The webcam worked perfectly with the installed version of Windows 8 that came with my machine. These problems appeared after installing Windows 8.1. When I start Windows 8.1's Camera app, the LED positioned to the right of the webcam flickers on and off. Sometimes when the LED is on, you can see webcam footage for a brief instant. It's very inconsistent though. I have Linux Mint 16 installed alongside Windows 8.1 as a dual boot option, and strangely enough the webcam also does not work in Linux Mint. Trying other camera apps, such as Google+ Hangouts, does not work. I downgraded to Windows 8, and the camera still does not work - even with Windows 8's version of the camera driver. What should I do?

Answer:Y410p webcam no longer working after Windows 8.1 upgrade

After a lot of wasted hours, it seems like my webcam does work in Linux Mint on some applications. So the hardware isn't at fault. I'm hesitant to reinstall Windows 8 and all the drivers from Lenovo's website, because I tried it and it didn't work. No amount of driver reinstallation or Windows Updates is doing the trick. Regretfully, I also deleted the recovery partition that came with the laptop. *sigh* Guess there's nothing I can do.

Answer:Windows 10 upgrade Thinkpad T410 Webcam Not Working After

HiSo here is how I solved the integrated camera being not recognized/detected by Windows 10.- I went Into Device Manager, uninstalled the unrecognized USB device.- Shut down the laptop. Removed the battery.- Pry out the plastic frame surrounding the screen to uncover the camera.- Remove the two screws retaining the camera and unplug it.- put back the battery and wait for Windows to load and log in as usual.- wait for all drivers and programs to load normally.- plug the camera back in.- you'll normally hear Windows detecting a new device and will automatically install it. Check your device manager for an imaging device. You should see an imaging device in the list.- to test if it's working properly, you can use Skype and see if it detects the camera in the video settings.

Hmmm  seems that the Aspire 5315 is regarded as obsolete?  can't see why, mine is running win 10 except that it wont recognise the webcam!  Can anyone help with that problem please ?

Answer:acer aspire 5315 webcam not working in windows 10

Just thought to add that my 5315 runs Win 10 just fine, except that I can't work out how to get the webcam to work. Win 10 has installed a programme called CAMERA which although it is in the Apps list which come up in All apps, cannot be either started or removed from the list ??????
I tried installing several different webcam drivers for the 5315 but none of them work. I have uninstalled them all now and will do some more research for a solution.

PS.  I WAS ABLE TO GET A BRAND NEW 5315 KEYBOARD (UK version only) via Ebay for AU $15.

MY 5315 NOW LOOKS and runs LIKE NEW.
Only thing is that the @ key is "hidden" where the " key is and @ is found at Shift '  But......I do now have a fully functioning laptop which had been rendered useless when the original US keyboard got damaged and literally fell apart.

Greetings, Windows 10 installed on my wife's laptop automatically, when she told me I didn't believe it but after doing some research it's happening to alot of people.  The first thing I noticed was the touchpad didn't work, I could move the pointer around but that was it.   After much research  I schooled up on windows 10 and this issue and quickly learned that alot of people seem to have this same problem.  I'm not going to bother you with everything I did to get the tap feature to work that's easy business, the scroll feature is the tough bit. Listen up HP:I went to the Lenovo website downloaded and intalled their driver onto your machine and it works with Windows 10.  You cats should be embarrased.   Yes this fixed the scroll issue.   Will Windows 10 change it the next time it updates? Probably, but how about yall, get off your rear ends and support your customers and provide us a driver fix for this,  Lenovo figured it out why can't yall?   Here's the link to the driver:http://support.lenovo.com/bd/en/downloads/ds032247 The driver:  V16.6.4.13If your touchpad isn't working at all connect a mouse up and keep it moving. You need to go into device manager and intall from there.   Download the file whereever you want it to live, create an empty folder, next extract the downloaded files contents into the new folder you created. ... After a system restore of my Notebook and an upgrade to windows 10 my webcam had stopped working so I had checked the driver for updates which Device Manager had told me there were none and neither skype or youcam could recognize the integrated webcam despite it saying there were no problems, I tried disabling and re-enabling the webcam as well as restarting the pc and nothing had worked and eventually I had ended up accidently uninstalling the integrated webcam driver altogether and I really don't want to restore my notebook again if it can be avoided. So is there a way to re-install the driver for the webcam that comes integrated with the HP Pavilion 17 Notebook?, I have already tried searching the site for the driver and could not find any drives for my notebook it simply suggests that I update windows (which I already have and the issue was not resolved).

The driver and software are still available at HP for your model laptop...uninstall from Device Manager then go to HP, read the install instructions on the support page for your laptop under the multimedia tab at top of page.

Hi, this Hp Pavilion dv5-1235dx integrated webcam won't work. I've tried everything, quickplay, acer drivers, hp drivers, everything! I am very fed up with this!

The device status says:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

The required section was not found in the INF.
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

This is not my computer, but it's a friend's after he formatted both partitions of his computer. The repair partition. Not sure what I can do, please help, he desperately needs this!

Okay so on some sites and programs when I have to use my webcam, everything goes smooth and works...until about 5 or so minutes in and my webcam turns off automatically and quits working. Skype, Omegle and Chatroulette are the sites I use that include the usage of my webcam. I am not sure if I need to update my drivers or something like that, I have looked around online to see what I can do, and have not found much help, so I figured I would come here and see if anyone can help me on this issue and future ones if anything else arises, thanks much!!
And hopefully I am posting this in the right area, if not please direct it there, thanks again!

Hello people! First of all, I'm a complete beginner when it comes to computers so please bear with me. I bought a used HP PAVILION DV9715NR laptop at an online auction. It supposed to come with all these goodies (17" screen, wi-fi, webcam) but without the hard drive. Using the online video instructions, I manage to put a new hard drive in and install a new Windows Vista operating system!!! So far so good, now comes the fall (lol). When I try to get in to the internet, my computer tells me that there is no network adapter detected, but according to the specs on this laptop it suppose to come with one. There is an amber light that goes on on the lower left hand part of my keyboard area but I can't get it to turn blue. Is it just a switch or do I need a "network adapter" (I don't know EXACTLY know what my laptop means by that)?? I even tried physically connecting my laptop to my router with a cable my router provided, no cigar!!! I tried going to the "device manager" but I just don't know what I'm looking for or to activate it when I find it! If I don't have the "network adapter" hardware (whatever those are) is it something that a neophyte like me can do or would I need to take it to a computer repair store where it will probably cost me an arm and a leg. I went to my "device manager" and I seem to have a webcam according to it, but I don't know how to turn it on. And shouldn't Window Vista rec... Read more

I Hp laptop DV9010. I had to use the restore disks that came with it and had this wierd program FBI GUI running in the background and the computer would restart time and time again... I disabled the "restart on system failure" to no avail. I restored the computer 3 more times with the same results. So after 3 hours chatting online with a tech obviously using a script to answer my questions they sent me another set of restore disks and... the same thing happens. So now I have installed XP Pro and I cannot get the webcam to work and my built in wireless internet will not work. If someone could please give me the links to the correct drivers to make these two items work, I would be soooo grateful. I am S I C K of looking at HP's website! Many Thanks!

Hi,I have an HP pavillion dv6-6156ea that is just over a month old.  It runs Windows 7 Home Premium.Today tried to use webcam and microphone for first time, for a Skype call, but neither of them appear to be working. The webcam is not shown in Device Manager, but the microphone is.When I open Cyberlink Youcam, it does not recognise that there is an internal webcam. What do I need to do to activate the microphone and cam?I followed the link below and followed the instructions.  But the webcam isn't showing in device manager.http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02452221Since it's not finding the device, I don't know how to update the drivers.I don't know how to troubleshoot the microphone issue.  I don't know if these things are likely to be related.Any help appreciatedThanks

Answer:Pavilion dv6 webcam and microphone issue

Feel a bit stupid replying to myself, but nobody else has replied and I thought it best to share what I have discovered. The webcam was faulty, straight out of the box.And the microphone is connected to that functionality, but uses a different driver - so if your microphone works it might be a sign that your issue is with cam driver(s). I bought from PC world about a month ago, so took it back there despite it being very busy.  This was the second faulty webcam in an HP they'd had returned today - the earlier was a dv7.  There was no issue with getting it replaced - they took a look at it, considered installing drivers off a disc but when it wasn't shown in device manager and the mic not working either, they knew right away.Really does show very poor quality control from Hewlett Packard.  It is a shame as in the first few weeks I've been really pleased with this model, but realistically now I know this is what their QC is like, when my business needs it's next piece I'll be going with something other than HP.

Hi! Camera is not functioning after upgrading to Win 10. As I described in another thread called "webcam" suggestions found in youtube do not help and lead to the famous blue screen of death. I have found this suggestion in the HP forum: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Camera-drivers-Pavilion-X2-10/m-... Should I dare to try it? Note that my system has a different final string in its name. Does it matter? Should I download the suggested drivers or search for other? Has anybody success to report? Help please! So frustrating!

Answer:onboard webcam on Pavilion 2x not functioning under win 10

HiThank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion x2 - 10-n080no Notebook and issues with the WebCam not working correctly. Here is a link to troubleshoot the Webcam not working. Please make sure the webcam is the selected video/capture device for your webcam software as it is not a hardware issue. If more than one webcam driver is listed, right-click the driver and select uninstall for any driver that is not the HP Webcam-101 or Microsoft USB Video Device driver. Once the other drivers have been removed, restart your computer and open your software. If the program has settings built in, you might want to look at this. Please let me know how this goes. You can say thanks for trying to help by clicking the Thumbs Up below! Thanks.

Hi,

I think it was a year or so ago now that for some reason my C drive managed to switch drive letters all by itself and I had to reinstall the OS just to get my computer to boot back up again. I don't think the reinstall was 100% successful. A lot of screwy things showed up in the device manager, and I had to manually reinstall lots of drivers in order for my computer to be usable again. I guess I just forgot about certain things because I never used them, but now I'm just trying to get my system back in order a bit.

I've been looking for solutions on this for a while now, but nothing seems to be working. My webcam is not being recognized by anything whatsoever. Facebook won't recognize it, Skype doesn't recognize it, and it doesn't even show up where it should in the device manager. I've tried downloading webcam drivers, new versions of HP QuickPlay, even drivers for 3rd party webcams. I've even gone to HP's website, looked up my exact model, but for some reason, they don't have drivers for a webcam, which is odd considering I'm looking a webcam as I'm typing this.

Any ideas?

I'm using an HP dv5t-1000, with Windows Vista 64 bit

Hi there.

I have a Toshiba QOSMIO X500-10W PQX33E-00R00CIT.

When I format my laptop and reinstall the operating system Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, the webcam works perfectly.
After I update windows through windows update the webcam stops working. Also with Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB. What I have to do? Thanks.

P.S.
I think is just a software problema and not hardware. The webcam works perfectly until I do the windows updates! "****" Microsoft!
