Windows Files Search form not displaying properly

Question: Windows Files Search form not displaying properly

Computer:Del Vostro 430 runing Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3, Comodo Firewall, AVG Free.Following a malware infection (now cured, see,134485.0/all.html) I have a strange problem with Windows Files Search. These two images show the Windows Files Search launched from Start > Search > For Files and Folders, and from Windows Explorer > SearchAs shown, the search form at the left is not displaying properly. Somehow it is scrunched up vertically so that only a tiny part of the actual form can be seen. The scroll bar of the form still works and I can get to all parts of the form but to use it is like doing keyhole surgery. Also, the link for the alternative Search Assistant (the ?cute? puppy) is missing. What in the world could be causing this behaviour? Any ideas are welcome.Keith

Preferred Solution: Windows Files Search form not displaying properly

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I wonder if you can help me with something. I have created a Form where there are 4 drop down boxes that collect data from 3 tables. How can I use that form to search for all the records matching one or more criteria chosen from those drop down boxes and display other fields on a report or a table?

The case is:

Table_Candidates (number of candidate, name, date of birth, address,…)
Table_Professional_Habilities (professional experience, years on the job…)
Table_College_Observations (College attended, degree, years, field of expertise…)

Form – Drop Down Boxes

Professional experience
College attended
Result Expected (How do I get this? In a table or a report, it doesn’t make a difference)

Number of candidate
Professional Experience
College Attended
Field of expertise
Age (how can I calculate this from date of birth?)

I've been advised to use Expression Builder. But the query isn't working because itreturns blank. Should I only select the fields on the Expression Builder (as an example, this is what it appears " [Forms]![New_Frm_Parameters_Selection]![Combobox17] "? Or should I make another expression?

Thank you very much.

Basicly I have been given the task of building a system to manage accounts and log calls and I have most of what to do already mapped out and having done similar things in parts with Access before I thought it would be a doddle but a few steps in and I have already come up against a brick wall. I have a form with several search fields and that works fine, no hitches at all and when you click on a button next to the top record it opens the customers details in a new form for editing, that works fine also. The problem I am having occurs when I get more than one result from the search and I try to click the button next to any record except the first and the problem is that the form I want to load is not loading anything, its just a blank form. No text boxes, no labels, nothing but the colours and the picture in the corner. I have put the code on the form to show me what data is going through and when following through with the first record it is showing me the correct data was transfered but when clicking any other record I am getting nothing. I have tried hunting for a solution for this but find it hard to know what to type to get the right information for my problem so I am sorry if this has been resolved before. Also forgive me for my patchy knowledge but I have taught myself everything I have done so far so it is probably just a step I have missed somewhere along the line.

Any Ideas?

Hello and welcome to TSF

Please do this

Download TweakUI (click on the colored link), the download is on the right side of the page. Save it to your desktop.

When the download is finished, double click on it, this should install it. When installed, Click Start, All Programs, Powertoys for Windows XP, click Tweak UI.

Hi, I have my screen set to a lower resolution, 800x600, and until now, have never had a problem with it. Some websites look a little different, that's been it.

Within the past week, however, some things are totally out of whack. Like a free email I use, the login boxes are little tiny, like 1cm x 1/2cm, and I can't login. Also,'s page is totally out of whack. It is so out of proportion as to be unreadable. Also, I was just filling out a questionaire(sp?) I can't use dictionary to check it! Anyways, I was filling out the form, and one box where the answer should have gone was the same 1x1/2 cm box as the email login was. Any ideas?

I use IE on XP, never had any probs before, it's all within the past week and totally random as to what's messed up. Like I say, a free email login,,, and an online questionaire. I'd really like to not have to change to firefox just for this, any ideas of what could be up, or possible fixes? Changing to regular screen resolution might be a diagnostic possibility, but I need this lower resolution to be able to see the screen good.

Thanks a lot guys

Answer:Windows not displaying properly.

Don't know if this will solve your problem or not, but have you tried going to View and increasing your font size? I run at 800x600 all the time, my font size is set at medium in IE, and I have never had that problem. Just a thought.

Hi, I'm new to the forums, but I just went to use the Mail app in Windows 10 for the first time and noticed that a lot of my emails are being displayed in a weird way, mostly with images. Most notably with youtube emails:
Ex. 1

(personal info has been 'oranged' out)
An entire third of the screen is being used by a single line of text (also some words at the bottom of the email) that should really just be directly beneath the 'YouTube' logo banner.

This problem is exacerbated when the app is made smaller with window mode.
Is this just normal for the Mail app, or is there a way to make emails and images display 'correctly'? I'm not very savvy when it comes to fixing these sorts of things...
Cheers in advance.

Greetings! My camera shows a shrunk version of the image it is capturing.Screen Capture  I have tried a whole slew of different drivers, auto detect as well as forced versions.  Settings within the camera app only change when I choose the 4:3 aspect.  With that the image just goes black.  Looked through Lenovo Companion and it does the same thing; except in the Camera Properties window that I can pop up.  The second tab of that window "Camera Control" does not allow for any adjustments except low light compensation, the rest is greyed out.   Since then, I did a fresh instal of windows 10 and the intel driver utility.  No change. Any ideas? Is there some settings that I am missing?

I just bought this 17.3" Laptop but when I play YouTube videos they keep buffering. You would think with 1TB and 16GB I should not have that experience. I bought the machine with Windows 8.0 from John Lewis and they told me to upgrade to TEN when it's available. I have kept my Acer Aspire 17.3" as I use it side by side and I must say it's generally faster than this new Lenovo. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding this before I march back to John Lewis and demand a refund?  Thanks  Peter

Answer:Brand new Z70-80 with windows 8 on board is not displaying videos properly.

Wrong section, this is for Windows Tablets. However could be several reasons why your having this issue. I don't think its hardware problem considering its an i7 with 16gb RAM (talk about overkill) aswell as the 840m.Most likely a software issue or driver issue, YouTube uses HTML5 & Flash depending on what internet Browser your using. -Update to the lastest version of Adobe Flash-Use a different internet Browser (Chromo, FireFox, Opera) See if any of these options work. Or it might just be slow internet, does it buffer when you watch a video that is not on YouTube?

Hi, I hope someone can help with this annoying problem.

Windows Media Player 11 displays the wrong titles for a lot of my AVI files. For example, one file is the film Beyond the Door. The filename is "Beyond the Door.avi". When I examine the file's tags in abcAVI Tag Editor or TigoTago, the Title tag reads "Beyond the Door". Yet when I play it in WMP11, the title displays at the bottom of the player and in the list pane as "Atom Age Vampire". If I right-click on the title in the list pane and go Properties -> Content, the Title tag reads "Atom Age Vampire" (this isn't editable within WMP11).

As I said, I've tried using both abcAVI Tag Editor and TigoTago to edit the tag, but the Title tag is showing correctly in both applications. I can't find any evidence in either editor of the file being tagged as "Atom Age Vampire".

What is WMP11 reading that abcAVI Tag Editor and TigoTago aren't?

Answer:Windows Media Player 11 not displaying AVI titles properly

And if it wasn't weird enough, I've just tried playing that file, over the network, on my Vista machine, and on that WMP11 displays the title correctly.

So I've got 2 instances of WMP11 running, one of which shows the Title (under Properties -> Content) as "Atom Age Vampire", and the other as "Beyond the Door". How can this be???

Its been happening ever since I installed Win7.

For example, When I click Start, type "CC" in the search box, the Start menu displays what I intend to start (CCleaner) but when I press enter I get this:

Its acting completely wierd!

On top of that, when I right click the entry, I get a menu which is expanded towards the left awkwardly. See below:

I also recall that I have unchecked "Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties." in the properties of my Windows 7 boot drive.

And since the programs are installed there, I think the problem might be related.

I have checked it again but it dosen't have any effect!

Please help! Any and all replies appreciated!

Thank you!

I am a true beginner in access programming, so excuse if my methods isn't the best, and any advice would be much appreciated.

My main problem is displaying a Query I did on an attachment field in my main table on a form.
This is what i am working with:
Access 2007
My main table name : Table2
Attachment column name in Table2 : Target_photo
Query name: QuerySpecGraph (Query on the attachment field)

The query works perfectly fine when I run it and gives me the correct result. Now to display the query on the form I added an new attachment under controls and edited the control source to display the query results.

I used the function dlookup:

I tried similar code on a text box, with a text Query and that worked fine. However it does not want to work for the attachment.

Then I tried to analyze the situation to see if the query is the problem, so changed the attachments control source to:

this was to see if even a basic dlookup function works in the attachments control source, but yet again the attachments box stays empty (Again I tested the simple dlookup function with a text box to see if my table is the problem, but the textbox's dlookup works fine)

I do not know what I am doing wrong, or if it is even possible to do what im trying to do! Any advice would be much appreciated, and if there is away around this I will gladly explain in more detail ... Read more

I am trying to create a data entry form for a large database. There is a parent form with 6 forms linked with a one-to-one relationship (due to a large number of fields) and several tables linked with a one-to-many. All have auto update/delete checked. The date entry form uses tab control (across 11 tabs) and subforms for some of the tables. I have two problems...

Firstly, if I enter part of the data for a new record in the form (eg fill in tabs 1-3) and then close it, the data appears in the tables, but when I re-open the form the record does not appear, so it is impossible to complete the data entry.

Secondly, when using the tab key to move through the fields in the table, when I get to the end of a tab control, instead of moving to the next tab control for the same record, it moves to a new record on the same tab.

I am fairly new to access and not familiar with all the code etc behind it, so I would be grateful for any advice!

Greetings, BexBomb.

Sounds like you've got something missing, most likely a bracket. Look for code similar to this:

<form>yada yada</form

Notice the missing > after the second "form".

If you can't find the culprit, post the address and I'll take a look at it, or you can validate the page at which should show any HTML mistakes on the page.

Hi all,

I am a beginner to MS Access. I was trying to create a form in Access which has 3 combo boxes on it, with each of them having the data on accountname, report type and date respectively. This data comes from 3 tables which are two column tables with one filed being the primary key one and the other fiield having the say accountname as type Text and so on. The form has the functionality that as a user chooses a particular combination of accountname, report type and date from the 3 combo boxes and clicks on a button titled 'Display report' the respective pdf file opens up. These pdf files are stored in a particular folder and are named as a concatenation of 'accountname+reporttype+date'. The form also needs to have a button clicking on which the user can close the form.
Any directions members !

Also could anyone explain me what actually a query is and what relationship does it have with a form. I have some idea about this but i am still not fully clear about these concepts.

Hi Guys
First timer - so please tread gently! I'm sure this is a similar situation, but wasn't sure whether it warranted another separate conversation.
I have a situation on an unbound list box in Access 2000 and haven't yet got to the bottom of it. I have a box which displays incorrect records for the user to correct. When they first go into the box, they see all 500 records (for example) and use a dble click event to edit the one they want, when they return to the box it will only display the first visible amount of records. They can use the scroll bar but the records do not scroll!

The Code behind ( and here's where I get lost - I don't do VB!) opens another form, allows you to edit the record, saves the changes, closes the form and returns you to the original form. We have tried keeping the original form open, as it was closed and reopened, but no change.

The DB has been inherited, so I have no idea why a List box has been used an not a combo.
Forms data is taken from a query.

I'll work out how to post a copy of the empty DB to you!

I'm sure this is an easy fix but I can't seem to find it. I just have a form, that will be a subform of another, that needs to display the results of a query.
The query is simple enough, just displays all fields of records that fall between specified dates. The query works great, but when I attach it to the form as its record source it doesn't display the data. I can see the correct amount of record selectors so I know its understanding the query but its as if all fields are hidden!

I have also tried building a query to the forms record source that was simply Select query.* From query. Oddly I have had this working before but I had to specify every field. What I mean is:

Select title From query
Select type From query
Select date From query ...

And so on for all the fields but this seems foolish, can anyone think of what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!
Edit, forgot to mention I also tried the foolish solution that I mentioned above and it didn't work so its definitely some issue that I'm not seeing, some property that's probably not appropriately set

Hi folks, I have a multipage form as part of an Excel development that requires checking the completion of fields on page 1 when a user enters page 2. All very straightforward I thought having done it many times before in word macros

eg If Multipage1(0).<variablename> = "" then
msgbox(<error message>)
multipage1.value = 0
End if

but no. The tab of page one is activated but the form controls displayed remain stubbornly those of page 2 and vb sicks up because it can't see <variablename>. The only reference I've found to this is that it was driving people mad and 'appeared to be a bug in XL2003'(sic) I'm using Office 2010.

Since installing W7 my Samsung my Syncmaster 2232bw monitor won't display in its proper 1680x1050 resolution. The closest it comes is 1080x1224 and there are only four choices.

The Samsung website claims that it's the video card at fault, but the video card worked just fine with Vista and XP. Nothing has changed but the OS.

If I try Device Manager the video card (NVidia GeForce 7300 GS) states that there isn't access to enough system resources to run properly, but it sees no problem with the monitor and it never had an issue with the equipment before W7.

The monitor, which is on a KVM switch, works just fine on the old Dell, but it is using XP over there.

So where do I go now? Is W7 the real culprit?

Answer:Monitor not displaying properly

It could be that Win 7 is not liking the KVM. Or it could be that the nVidia driver for your card needs updating from nVidia.

When I log into hotmail, the page doesn't display properly. as though the screen editing commands are not being understood. if i try and click on any link, nothing happens except an "error on page" message in the lower left corner of my browser. what I must do is hit the refresh button, then the page displays properly. of course the next function i perform, i'm back to my same problem. what i end up doing is having to keep refreshing the page every step of the way. if i want to enclose something, i must do that first, then refresh and type the message. if I type the message first, then add attatchments, I must refresh to activate the send button and 9 times out of 10, the message text disappears. it's become a giant pain in butt.

anyone else experiecing this? for the most part, hotmail has always been flakey at best. ie: forwarding a message with attachments usually gets sent minus the attatchments.

maybe it's time for a new mail provider. i use yahoo already. any other good ones out there?

i'm running WinNT V4.0 sp6, IE Explorer 6.0 sp1 and connected to the web via high speed ( ) comcast cable.

I go to the Yahoo home page and everything is fine. When I select an article, I get a plain white page, yahoo logos randomly scattered around the page, a list of links in a column format and if I keep scrolling down the page, I'll find the article I was looking for. I first discovered this problem when my kids couldn't get to Webkinz. I don't have this problem with all websites. I do have this problem on 2 PCs, but not all. I have a home network with 7 PCs on it. The other 5 PCs work correctly, just not those 2.

The PCs are both running XP, SP2, IE 7. I wondered if it wasn't an IE issue, so I uninstalled 7, and 6 did the same thing. I redownloaded a fresh version of 7, same thing. I installed Firefox, same thing. I reset all options to default/original settings, same thing.

What's the common element between Yahoo and Webkinz. I suspect there may be a clue there.

Thanks everyone!

Not even sure this is a Windows 7 issue but...
my ACER laptop died and took a few attempts to get it back up but when it did, all the profiles were gone leaving me with the factory default. Couldn't get wifi to work at all but eventually got Internet Explorer open connected by cable. When opening web pages such as Facebook, Yahoo etc, the page template was there but no actual info despite being logged in. Yahoo mail had the usual appearance (side bar, ads) but no emails in Inbox / Sent and my personal folders were missing. Facebook had the title bar showing profile, friends etc at the top and showed I was logged in but the remainder of the screen was blank.
Then tried playing a DVD but got an error telling me Windows Media player is not installed properly. Never had this issue before.
Grateful for any suggestions!!

I need a bit of help here. Just got myself a new laptop and configured it ok for wireless broadband using an ADSL router.

Problem is that on certain websites the page will not load properly at all and, having checked that stuff like Java VM was installed and working ok can't figure out what's wrong. I tried using Mozilla as well as IE6 but the problem is there as well.

Pages are (amongst others)

in each case I can see some of the links but not others. Laptop is in danger of being chucked outta the window.

Any ideas? Have also reset the settings in Security and Advanced tabs under Tools > Internet Options but no joy.

PS: There are no problems with the sites themselves - they load perfectly well on my work llaptop/network.

If you are here to help thank you if you have the same problem i hope you find the solution. So a week ago i got advanced system care 5 for my computer (win 7 OS) and i installed a ran the program. The next day i am on the net when i see these weird icons out of place ive tried extensivley for one week to find a solution to this problem but to no avail i hope you can help me find a solution. I have attached some pictures to this post so you can see the problem for yourself. Also, this is happening on all browsers not only chrome.

Registry Cleaners are NOT recommended by most on our staff. See if doing a System Restore prior to advanced system care 5 installation fixes the problem.

so i have a new hard drive that i upgraded from Windows XP(i will miss you) to Windows 7. i wanted to get everything settled on it before i transfered it to my regularly used laptop.

i've got nearly everything configured, except for one annoying problem i cannot seem to fix, or find a fix for. all the images displays seem to be squashed height wise. and i mean images online, image files on my computer, even the icons on my desktop. and i cannot for the life of me figure out why! i've tried every setting for resolution, which doesn't make any difference, tried fiddling with display and preferences, tried even changing the theme! it won't do anything. i tried to take a screenshot, but when i transfered it to my regular computer, it looked perfectly fine. so i've taken a side by side picture with my camera to show the differences in the same image. because i love anime and sailor moon, that is the chosen picture for comparison.

not as bad as some people report, but the higher an image is in height, the more skewed it looks. and some of the images i use tend to be high and it's very annoying. and i'm sure if i try drawing anything that looks normal to me on 7, on everything else it'll look skewed. any help would be greatly appreciated!

also, please note these are pretty much the exact same model of laptop! though it seems to monitors are different...on my XP, it says this for the display

My computer is win7, 64-bit with IE9. Occasionally when I click on a url link in a web page, a new tab will open but the entire page is "rolled" up to the top. If I run my mouse up to the top (or bottom, hard to put into words) until I get a vertical 2-arrowed cursor, I can then pull the page down for normal viewing. If I click on any shortcut link in the quick launch bar, the page will open normal or maximized, depending on the properties setting.

But if I click on a shortcut link from the desktop, that's when the page is "rolled" up to the top. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks!

The site in question is: - the Free valuation form

I have cleared the temporary internet files in the cache and the history to no avail.

I have hooked up an external monitor, which works fine!!! Has anyone else had this problem, and if so what was the solution. I have incerased brightness etc, but to no avail. Am I missing something very basic?

Answer:Satellite A10: LCD is not displaying properly

Hi Patrick,

It sounds like your FL Inverter has failed. This is a hardware component which provides backlighting for your screen.

Typical failure symptoms are that the screen will be visible, but only just, whereas an external monitor will work fine.

I suggest you contact a Toshiba authorised service centre.

Please has anyone any more ideas on this? I can't get my web email from that page.

Basically, whenever I visit a site that has animated images on it i.e. banner, advertisements, etc. the images itself will be messed up and won't show properly. Hello everyone. New user here, really need help with this issue I'm having. At first I thought it was just an issue with Chrome, but then I started using Internet Explorer and am having the same issue. 50% of the time when I load a website, it either won't load at all or will load all messed up with no images and just black text and buttons, usually all stuck to the left side. Also, sometimes the site will load properly except all the images are not loading. This even happens in iTunes when viewing the iTunes store or account page. Any browser is susceptible so I figured it was an issue with a Windows Update. (I just bought this laptop so I didn't have time to update yet) However, even after all windows updates were installed the issue was still present. I have no idea what the problem is. I'm going mad here, please help! Thanks

I have had Mozilla for a few months now with no problems and now all of a sudden when I go to certain websites, instead of regular text there are all sorts of weird symbols that almost look like a foreign language. On other websites, the text is mostly normal, but certain places on the website have these weird symbols. The only way I can eliminate this is if I go into "View" and click on "Page Style" and select "No Style". Then all the text is normal, but I don't care for the way the page looks with "No Style". I am used to having it on Page Style so that it looks the way it does with Internet Explorer. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

To All,

I am running Windows 7 64 Home Premium and I recently installed a program called Glary Utilities.

I created a shortcut and pinned it to the task bar and all was fine.

The next time I rebooted, the icon in the task bar had changed to a blank looking page (a little awkward to describe). I looked at the original file in Windows Explorer and it too had the same appearance.

I was able to change the icon to another program within the Glary Utility suite, but it has baffled me why the original icon for that file is not displaying properly.

When I look at the file's properties it is there.

Any ideas how I might correct this?

Thank you for your time.

Answer:Icons Not Displaying Properly

Hello KC,

You might see if rebuilding the icon cache may help if it is just a glitch.

You might also pin the source file instead of a shortcut to see if that may work better.

Hope this helps,

I got this email from Imagebam:

That image hosted on our servers is the exact copy of your file, it is unchanged & loaded direct as though on your harddrive, any behavior you see that is different is due to the way the file is being loaded/viewed, meaning it is either the browser or where it is posted that is creating the difference,"

Recently reverted back to Windows 7 from Windows 10. I did a clean install using a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 December 2015 slipstreamed copy.

I only installed Office 2016 and Foxit PDF viewer.

I wanted to run a Muslim prayer gadget but it showed up messed up as you can see in one of the attachments and I've added another picture of how it's supposed to look. I don't know if linking is allowed but it is literally the first hit on Google if you search for "prayer gadget".

My other gadgets (weather, CPU monitor) work fine. I tried other gadgets like a calendar and they work fine, too. The problem seems to be exclusive to this gadget. I contacted the author of the gadget and he suspects it has to do with something I installed. I think it might be due to some Windows update that was slipstreamed and installed which is causing this.

I wasted a long time looking for a solution right here and went down the list; from uninstalling IE11 (my DPI scaling was already set to 100%) to running all those command prompt commands to register the various DLLs and deleting the IE Zones registry entry. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Gadgets from the "Turn Windows features on or off" setting.

This app worked perfectly fine when I was using Windows 7 before I installed Windows 10 back in August.

Sad thing is, I recall having a similar problem a year (or more) ago with this gadget and resolving it pretty easily but now I'm just pulling my hair out lol...........

I just bought a new system that includes a mobo with a DDR2 800 memory standard. The RAM installed is DDR2 800 4-4-4-4-15-1T SLI Ready (mobo is SLI ready as well). I set the BIOS to read the RAM as exactly what it is - DDR2 800, 4-4-4-4-15-1T. When I open up cpu-z and go to the memory area, it shows both of my sticks running at 400MHz!

Something's wrong here... anyone have any ideas? The timings are correct, and it displays PC6400 like it should, but the MHz is all wrong.

I also tried installing Firefox and get the same issue.

When I go to the site via a different computer (Win 7 with IE8) it works fine!
Is this a Flash player issue? Java? what else could run this calendar?

Answer:Website not displaying properly

It could be a flash or java issue. Do you have both installed and enabled for IE11? The other issue which is more likely is that the site isn't coded for IE11. Another thing to try is to add it as a trusted site or use compatibility mode. If it works well with another browser I would just use the other browser.

i'll jump right into it: there are 4 user accounts on my computer. mine is fine. the other three will not display the contents of the windows search side bar in explorer.

We have windows XP home with sp3 installed, and so far i've run Regvac registry cleaner on the accounts to clean out any stray entries. ive scanned with Trojan Remover and found nothing, and also reset the windows explorer policies using trojan remover. ive checked msconfig to see if anything nasty was starting up but there was nothing there.

another problem that is again happening with all accounts but my own (and as such i feel is related) is the internal application error (directly quoted as "An internal application error has occurred.") when trying to open Windows Media Player 9.

i have googled the search sidebar problem, but whether my google skills are subpar or no one else has had and reported this problem, i couldnt find anything. im ABOUT to google the internal application error regarding windows media player 9, but i thought i would include it in this post as its similiarity to the other problem (affecting the same 3 accounts) could help a speedy diagnosis.

my account is used far more often than any of the others and other than this the only difference is that i regularly scan with regvac registry cleaner, whereas trying to solve this problem was the only time i had done it with any other account. the other 3 user accounts have been used (as far as i know) only for emai... If you're reading that correctly, that file type is so obscure that even FILExt - The File Extension Source and File extension HAR - How to open .har files -- two pretty comprehensive sources of information -- don't know about it as other than "primarily associated with 'e-Sword' by Rick Meyers. e-Sword is an effective way to study the Bible."

You'll have to ask the manufacturer of the DVR/CCTV system.

Recently had a power outage and windows media player was up at the time. On restart a message came up that said something like, "WMP was not shut down properly some (puggins or add-ons) were disabled."

Later when using youtube, the pages stopped displaying correctly. I can still see the video screen but the page itself is all screwy like it lost it's formatting. Not sure if these are related but they did happen at about the same time.

All other internet pages like, hotmail, are displaying properly.

Hello guys, I don't know what's going on but this has bothered for quite a while.

It doesn't happen to all programs but just some.

Below is just a snapshot of the start-up windows for Test Drive Unlimited 2. As you can see, the image as well as the scroll bar is screwed...

As another example, my KMP wizard window doesn't even show the Next button so I can't proceed. And the texts go beyond the boundary... The size of the windows can't be adjusted.

Things just seem to fall out of places.

Any help is appreciated!

Answer:Some Program Interface Not Displaying Properly

I don't see any snapshots, but the first thing you should try is updating your video drivers to the latest version available.

Hello all, I recently assembled a computer, and all checks out fine except for the video card in my system information.

I ordered an N560GTX PCI Express Graphics Card, and when I try launching games, my graphics card is instead displayed as an NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / NVIDIA nForce 630a.

I tried some of the other tips I've found when browsing through this site, such as disabling the display adapter I have under the Device Manager, but to no avail.

I also went into my BIOS, and all I could find that pertained to my problem was the "Primary Graphics Adapter" which is set to "PCI Express". I'm not sure if there was another option I was supposed to change, but to my knowledge, I couldn't find anything else.

I even went as far as taking my computer apart to check if It was plugged in correctly, and to my knowledge it is. One thing I do not understand is that the box my graphics card came in says it has dual fans, and instead the one in my computer only has a single fan.

I'm not sure if I was a victim of fraud, or if I just wasn't doing something right. If anyone could offer me any tips to solve this annoying issue, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

EDIT: Sorry. Missed a spot. Before anyone asks, yes, I did update my drivers on the NVIDIA website. I still haven't received any visual changes or notifications on the matter.

nForce is the chipset on AMD mobos. Is this correct? It could just be using the APU instead of the GPU.

There's nothing wrong with my PC at all. I'm just having trouble with webpage to display properly on my PC. I know I satisfied their minimum recommendations in terms of what kinds of browser, monitor resolution, etc. Here's what it looks like:

Hope I inserted a jpeg version of it correctly. The problem is one frame side on the left would overlap where it would cover some paragraphs. How do I make it work on my PC?

I upgrade to Firefox 9.01, all the regular web sites I went to seems to display properly. Then the other day, data that should be on the screen, is not displaying. I notice under about: config, that plug in for Java is off. So I set it to on, no change.

For static pages like this:

as simple as displaying the team of a red cross, on the above page, it's blank (from my firefox 9, it's a white page, no name, nothing)

On facebook, in a page that I should see a "Send Gift" button, I no longer see it.

Java shows Java 6, Ver. 6, Update 30, which is the latest, and so is Adobe Flash, it is the latest too.

any1 has this problem?

chrome works fine displaying the above pages

Why don't you check the HTML's source as suggested earlier to make sure that there actually is a problem before jumping to conclusions? If it's not there in one browser versus the next, the website is modifying the page based on your browser's user agent string or functionality.Click to expand...

Have you done that?

Google Chrome does not display pages properly. Often I have to refresh the page for it to show all of it, and it still loses part of the display. I've checked all settings and have done all that Google Chrome recommends. Using Dell Dimension 3000; Windows XP Home SP3 Intel 2.8 Mhz processor; 2048 MB memory.

Okay, I am at my wits end. I have tried to repair. I rebuilt the icon Cache, and used the registry fix that was available here on the forum and nothing is working. Here is a screen shot to show what is wrong:

All application files(.exe) are the same. I don't know what else to try. Help please.

Hello Willow, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Do the shortcuts still work otherwise?

You might see if downloading and merging the .reg file for the listed lnk (LNK) and exe options in the tutorial below may be able to help. It will restore the default associations for them.Default File Type Associations - Restore
Hope this helps,

Hello Guys:

I've come across a pretty weird issue with all browsers on one particular machine (Win XP Pro SP2).

When you navigate around you'll find that most links are not displayed at all (IE8) and sometimes the formatting of the page comes out extremely messed up (Firefox 3). At first I thought it was preventing CSS files from being displayed but some links and general layout appear.

I've tried upgrading IE from 7 to 8, installing the latest Firefox 3 and even tested Chrome so it looks like a computer issue. I ran Malwarebytes and McAfee, McAfee found Adware-180SA and quarantined it while Malwarebytes didn't find anything.

Googling around I found some people with similar issues due to corrupt Winsock settings so I downloaded WinsockXpFix and ran it with no fix to the problem.

I also ran a HijackThis log and didn't find anything obviously weird so I'm posting it just in case I'm missing something.

I'm attaching two screenshots, one of how the faulty browser displays the page and another one of how a regular browser displays it.

Sorry for the lengthy post I wanted to cover all the bases and thanks in advance for your time.

Answer:Browsers not displaying content properly - Win XP Pro SP2

You may still be infected, or this may be an "orphan" entry -- you can use HijackThis to delete it, but it may not remove the parent program >>

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bvfrju] C:\WINDOWS\System32\gaejqrmc.exe

I can't tell from your screen shot what types of links are not being displayed. I would right click on one and select properties -- see if it is a java or flash program of some kind or what the image or link source is.

Try testing in Safe Mode with Networking support.

It may be a firewall or antivirus configuation issue which blocks certain types of script sources.

Hi! I am having problems with how my icons are displayed on the desktop. They show the normal icon but then there is another icon over each one. They all operate normal when running them and i have tried to delete and re-create the shortcuts with no change. I've tried running the Icon DB rebuild and its not affecting my issues. Attached is a screenshot of the problem. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Hello, I've ran out of ideas of what may be causing this weird error, so I have come to you all in seek of a more experienced user. When I try to load images, sometimes they appear distorted with shifted colors and horribly misplaced (don't worry I've attached a picture) if I keep refreshing the page, they keep changing colors, until at one point, it loads correctly. (I've noticed it's more frequent with long images, which start just fine, then you scroll down and half of it is screwed up).

I've tried:
Clearing the cache
Uninstalling the browsers (Firefox & Chrome)
System Restore
Extensive virus scan

I can't seem to find the answer to this problem, and it's driving me crazy.

Also, I've attached an image of Gizmodo - The Gadget Guide, which shows me this... at first I thought it was them, but then I tried accessing through my iPhone and it loads just fine (both the mobile and desktop sites)

EDIT: Also, if I try to refresh the browser constantly, sometimes I see a chuck of code, and sometimes I get this error:

The webpage at might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Error 330 (net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED): Unknown error.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi there,

Hotmail is not being displayed properly. The links to emails are broken and the layout is expanded. First I thought this may have been a Java or Flash problem so I uninstalled both and reinstalled. Re-installed the browser, cleared the caches, tried Internet Explorer and the same thing happened. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Answer:[SOLVED] Java not displaying properly.

Looks to me it's an issue on their site. I don't have a Hotmail account myself, so I can't check, but I've seen other sites where the CSS style sheet fails to load properly and they will show like that.
