Asus joins the FreeSync market with 1440p, 144 Hz IPS display

Question: Asus joins the FreeSync market with 1440p, 144 Hz IPS display

Up until this point, Asus has been solely focused on producing G-Sync monitors for the gamers out there with Nvidia graphics cards. However this is set to change, with the company preparing to release their first FreeSync monitor, the MG279Q. ...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Finally a good IPS monitor. I got tired of seeing so many TN ones.

Interesting, wonder if this will change the switch to x86 by Apple at all?

A pair of dual core G5's inside a system would make for a very very speedy machine. With the advantages of RISC architecture, with the proper software I think it beats anything else out there at the moment.

Hello, I have a T430 with the Nvidia 5400M and I was wondering how well an external 1440p (2,560 x 1,440 resolution) display works with it. I only do web surfing and watch youtube. Will it bog down a little?  I currently have a 1080p display, and I noticed things slow down a tad when using both the laptop display and the 1080p display. Thanks!

The Integrated Graphics 4600 is capable of doing that, so as long as you're not gaming, you shouldn't see a major dip in performance.

Is it available on this laptop? AMD website states the FX processor as being dual graphics capable, yet i can find no driver package that enables CROSSFIRE. GPU-Z states "Crossfire Available" but is disabled. What gives? I purchased this laptop for this reason. Is this a windows 10 issue, the AMD website under features states windows 7/8 but does not list windows 10. Also, BOTH the r7 and m385x list freesync on the amd website but i can find no driver package to turn this feature on. Please assist.

Answer:y700 15acz Crossfire/Freesync

I jave the exavt same laptop, and I have yet to determine how to enable it, though not for lack of trying. If you downlaod a program called "GPU Z" is has a section that says "Crossfire Available (Disabled)" so it seems it CAN run it. Though additionally, in the new AMD crimson app, under Radeon settings, it shows that the graphics drivers are linked.  Crossfire may not be available as a feature per se, but maybe it's doing it naitvely anyway? After all, a AM running Phantom Pain on high with very minimal stuttering and barely any drop in FPS.

All right, I found a weird bug regarding Freesync VS sleep mode... So to enable freesync you need to put the display into Gaming mode. When you to that, you see an actual prompt that says "AMD Freesync: ON" at the top. Then you enable it in the driver and you should be good to go.However, when you set Gaming mode the brightness and contrast go to 75% each which is WAY too bright for my taste, so I lower it down to 25% and 50%. When I do that, the display changes from Gaming to a "personalized settings". Freesync still works perfectly fine, that is UNTIL the monitor goes to sleep... when it wakes up (no matter after how long), all my settings are preserved but freesync is DISABLED!!!!In order to reenable it, I need repeat all my steps (OSD - gaming mode, lower brightness and contrast) EVERY TIME....I also tested what happens if I change into gaming mode without changing any of the defaults afterwards: Freesync remains enabled after sleep. So the bug lies when you change any settings AFTER going into gaming mode....I also tried installing the HP Display Assistant thinking I could at least control things without going into the OSD and sadly it cannot activate gaming mode, so I am stuck using the physical buttons on the OSD.Otherwise this is the perfect display for the price, it has everything I was looking for and the resolution for this size is perfect at 100% scaling. If someone could help me out with this freesync bug I would be thrilled!

Question: 1440p HD

I can't grasp the context of 1440p HD. I understand 1080p HD as it uses more bandwidth to produce a clearer picture by using more pixels per cm sq.
As for 1440p, settings on youtube player, the background is always blurred yet the foreground is only as crystal clear as normal full HD. Bandwidth use is also much higher than ordinary HD. My GPU can handle it but I fail to notice if this new technology gives a better performance rather than 'full' HD. Would it make a difference on a TV?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Answer:1440p HD

rdave13: I'm wondering if you may be under a slight misapprehension? 1080p describes an image that's 1,920 x 1,080 - full HD. 1,440 is commonly used in 1,440 x 900 resolution screens/panels, and is a bit of an oddball as it's a 16:10 aspect ratio rather than 1,920 x 1,080, which is a 16:9 aspect ratio. (Other 16:10 aspect ratios are 1,280 x 800 and 1,920 x 1,200.) Thus, if your screen is a 16:9 screen but you use settings designed for a 16:10 screen, it's gonna look a bit squirly. (And, back in the day, screens were typically 4:3 aspect ratio, until SXGA came along which was 5:4, I think.)

Question: 1440P or 4K

I use a full hd 27 inch monitor but I fancy something a little sharper. Is 4K worth it for office and web browsing or would the 1440P be more suitable? I would be limited to 27-28 size. An IPS panel or equivalent would help the sharpness.

Answer:1440P or 4K

I'm on a Samsung U28D590D. 28", UHD (3840 X 2180). It's only TN, but it was a relatively cheap monitor that does 60 Hz. I'm not sure that an IPS or one of the other technologies would be sharper. Better uniformity and wider viewing angles, probably.

I like the extra real estate. Some applications (like Photoshop CS6) don't scale well: the icons are well defined but tiny. It's good fro web browsing, but dual monitors might be better for office applications.

Question: HDMI 1.4 and 1440p

Hi
I want to know that the panel of ASUS VX24AH is IPS or TN ??
And I have another question :
Can HDMI1.4 get 60HZ in 1440P ??

Tnx

Answer:HDMI 1.4 and 1440p

According to the specs on the Asus website it's IPS: https://www.asus.com/Monitors/VX24AH/specifications/
Panel Type : In-Plane SwitchingClick to expand...

As for the 1440p over HDMI 1,4, you'll have to try and see if it works. The monitor does support 1440p over HDMI but some video cards will not and limit it to 1080p, you can sometimes create a custom resolution, most new ones should go to 1440p/60Hz over HDMI.

Answer:1440p with 2xsli gtx 670

two GTX 670's at 1440p should be able to handle BF4 at ultra but I'm not sure at 60 fps due to your cards having 2gb of VRAM as BF4 is VRAM intensive at 1440p and i noticed you mentioned Crysis 3 at 1440p crysis 3 is more vram intensive at 1440p than any other game I have ever played not to mention performance wise it isn't all that great, I can't promise you 60 fps constantly but I can say it should be a smooth experience.

Hi, I currently have a Samsung P2450 and I love it (24"/1080p), is there a 1440p upgrade that won't break the bank?

Answer:Looking for a 1440p monitor upgrade

1440p is pretty hard not to break the bank still but I can offer a few suggestions:

27" QNIX 2560x1440p $349 (This contains a Samsung Panel inside 8ms response time)

27" Crossover 2560x1440p $329 (Has a better response time to the one above 6ms response time)

27" Yamakasi Catleap 2560x1440p $379 (6ms Response, this brand has some of the best reviews)

Name brands like Samsung and Acer cost a lot more, these get good reviews and are just fine for use. They all have decent reviews, yet the Yamakasi's from the newegg site always seems to have the most 5 star reviews and get good feedback. No matter what, your going to be limited in your choices in this area if you can pay a fortune lol. They are still in the Luxury price point range in my book until they hit below 300.

Hope this gives you an idea!

Hey guys,

I have decided I am going to leave the world of 1080p. I am looking to get a Korean 1440p for hopefully ~$300. I have been doing some research and have narrowed down the field to these two Crossover monitors:

1. Perfect Pixel Crossover 2795 QHD Ahips LED 27" 2560x1440 LG IPS Monitor Matte | eBay

2. Perfect Pixel Crossover 27QHD IPS LED 27" 2560x1440 LG s IPS PC Monitor Glossy | eBay

I think I have accounted for most factors, but I am still a little confused about some nuances here and there such as the impact of matte vs. gloss, AHIPS, and overclocking potential.

Does anyone have any recommendations on either one of these two or another one I should consider? Thank you for any and all help in this matter.

Answer:Looking to get a Korean 1440p Monitor (Help)

You don't want a glossy panel, so that solves that.

Overclocking potential relies on the panel itself and is a gamble. They say 100hz but it could be 75, it could be 85, you never know until you get it.

Both are LG IPS panels so more than likely using the same panel with a different coating, just take note that these only utilize a single DVI-D DL port.

Just a heads up, but Newegg sells a similar panel and an Acer for similar cost if you don't want to take the risk on a Korean panel having dead pixels.

Folks,
I have had some help with this in the past (thanks OBP!), but I am having problems with my query producing results the way I want it. The name of the query is “Budget_Remainder”

1. I want all my “Budget 2005” table results to display in this query. Currently, the only results that display are those were both tables have equal records. I want all 27 “Budget 2005” records to be displayed in my query because a blank result would mean no money was spent. I have tried different joins, but it does not give all the budget records.

2. My credits field is displayed properly in the query, but it does not reflect against the other fields. When credits post, it should DECREASE the field: Total for Year, INCREASE the field: FY Budget Remainder, and DECREASE the field: Budget Used (%)

What normally happens is Access does not know what join to perform first and I have yet to figure out how to create the SQL. I have tried left joins or all inclusive joins, but it does not report in the same format needed. The DB is attached and any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
CD

Hi everyone,

I seriously need some perspective. I've ordered an Overlord Tempest X270 OC 1440p monitor. I'm trying to decide between:

1. 2x XFX R9 290X (CrossFire)
2. 2x nVidia GTX 970 (MSI/Asus Strix) (SLI)
3. Single nVidia GTX 980 PNY XLR8 Pro OC

Other parts are:

EVGA 850 G2
Intel Core i5 4690K
Asus Maximus VII Hero
GSkill Trident 16GB
Intel 730 Series SSD (480 GB)
NZXT S340

Have been reading up a lot but am finding it hard to choose. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer:GTX 970 SLI, Radeon 290X CF or Single GTX 980 for 1440p (120Hz)

Only the first two options will get you to 120 fps on any game made within the last few years. I have a machine with an i7 and 970 SLI and a machine with an i7 and an EVGA 980 Superclock and at 2560x1440 only the 970s can manage... and not all the time. Most of the time I set my monitor refresh to 100Hz because there's a much greater chance that my cards can get me there.

I don't have any AMD GPUs atm so can't say about that but I will say that I've had one hell of a time getting XFX to honor their warranties in the past.

Hey guys,

Im running the following rig: 6700K, GTX 980Ti Zotac Amp Extreme!, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, Windows 10 (running at 4k), Samsung u28d590d (4K Monitor). This question is gaming related. Normally i play games at either 2160p or 1440p. However, if I try to set a game to 1080p (which is different from windows resolution, so Nvidia settings seem to have no effect on it through the control panel), like Star Citizen or for testing purposes Fallout 4 / Arma 3, the colors turn very washed out and grey. The monitor is connected via Displayport. The components used in the build are all from top notch brands. Higher resolutions work fine. Might it have something to do with windows resolution? Any suggestions on how to fix the issue?

One review from a blog actually stated E550 has a 1080 limitation; this is what concerns me. In short, can a E450 output 2560x1440 resolution via HDMI?

Hi guys,
I recently downloaded a video that was 1440p (and then the same one that was 2160p) from youtube using Ummy video downloader 2.1. It's MP4 format and when I try to watch it on Windows Media Player (I'm not sure what exact version I have) it only plays the audio for it and no visuals except for a blue/black-ish background and a musical note in a box in the center. At the very bottom left of the screen under the progress bar there's a small little rectangle that has moving "))))))))))" and when I hover over it, it says either "Network is too busy to play file at original quality" or "playing at 254 kbps".
Is there a way to change the settings or update my WMP? Or is there another video player out there that will allow me to watch these ultra HQ videos?

I'm planning on getting an Acer XB270HU 1440p 144HZ IPS Monitor.Since i was initially planning on getting GTX 970 SLI. The benchmarks I've seen running a solo GTX 970 barely handle modern games at 60+ fps at 1440p.(You can share your opinions regarding the GTX 970 here http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,150444.0.html)What cards do you think would be able to handle games like the Witcher 3 at 1440p while keeping the frame rates at 100+ fps?

Answer:Best Graphics Card for 1440p 100FPS+ Gaming?

Buying Monitor in one simple format and expecting about Gaming with good graphics card is not a good idea.I suggest go with 4K monitor which will bring you more fun and amazing HD quality to you.

In Access I have a table of Company names which business advisors have worked with. This is a linked table to an Excel spreadsheet which in turn is an output of an external data source. I have another table in Access where I log all companies where I have received an eligibility form. What I need is a query which would list all companies where I have not received an eligibility form. An inner join between the 2 company name fields would return the opposite ie. a list of companies that are eligible ie. where a form has been received.Similarly, I also have a linked table containing all invoices outstanding for a particular project, and another table where I log the invoice numbers of payments made under that project. I need a query that would return all unpaid invoices.

Answer:Access database Inner Joins

You can use the unmatched query wizard. This works only if you have designed your tables correctly. The 2 tables should be linked by an id field. Where you have received a form, you will have an entry in the eligibility form table. So if you run the unmatched query wizard what you will have is a left outer join and the filter criteria in the elibility form table primary key is set to "Is Null" But the wizard does it all and you don't need to worry about what kind of join it is.I am a bit worried. The overriding principle of a relational database is that no piece of information is ever stored twice. In other words you shouldn't be linking tables via comapany names. They should be joined via a primary key. You will have problems linking tables via names. The slightest typo makes them different.Check out the Northwind database and the examples there.

Our PS3 is no officially an MG folding machine. I have signed it up on team 12072, and my user name here, Mimsy, is listed as the Folding donor, so I expect my individual points to spike before long; the thing was 87% through a WU when I put in the team number.

To anyone else who has a PS3, sign it up! We need all the folders we can get, and this thing is just as good at folding as it is as rendering 1080p graphics in high resolutions.

I have used table joins in Access to bring out certain records. For example I have one table listing client records (Name, address, Date, Postcode etc) and a separate, second table of postcodes. Joining the postcode fields of the 2 tables will bring out all records in the main table whose postcodes matches that of the second table. However, what if I wanted a more advanced query join like all nottingham postcodes with a third digit "5" and ends in "E". In a query do I write: Like NG5 **EBut how do I incorporate it into a table join?

Answer:Access 2 table joins

If you want any post code that has a 5 AND ends in E you will need to put criteria in the post code field. Open up the query in design mode. In the criteria field for the field PostCode put this criteria.Mid([PostCodes],3,1)="5" and Right([postcodes],1)="E"This assumes that the postcode field is formatted the same.

Hello, I am a Photographer. The T460p with my current 1920*1080 panel just covers after calibrating 37 percent of the Adobe RGB. The T460p is sold by a 2560*1440 panel which covers until 70 percent of the Adobe RGB is perfect. I don't want to buy a new Notebook so I would like to change the panels.  My current panel LGD0521 (LP140WF6-SPB4) got a 30 pin connector. The 1440p panel 00HN878 has a 40 pin connector. So does not fit. But if ich replace the 30 pin cabel (01AV916) to a 40 pin (01AV915) cable it should work in my point of view. Or do I have to replace more than just this two parts? Is there anybody how knows something or got excpirience in this kind of problem? Thank youDominik

Greetings,
I have a Dell 7720 (inspiron 17R SE) laptop and I have it currently working with a u2715h Dell monitor in 1440p resolution via HDMI (even though I read in many places that such a setup with HDMI can only do 1080p!). Anyway, I'd like to know what's the best way to connect my laptop to two u2715h monitors in extended mode in 1440p (if that's possible). I'm fine with not using the laptop screen. The graphics card I have is GT650m, it has an hdmi and a vga output..

Answer:Connecting Inspiron 7720 laptop to two 1440p monitors

Just came across this old post. What I ended up doing is connect one monitor in 1440p through the HDMI port and to the other one in 1080p using the VGA port and a VGA-to-HDMI adapter that I got off of Amazon. I wasn't able to get a 1440p resolution out of the VGA port unfortunately.

Hello

My second monitor is a Samsung U28D590D set to extend my first monitor. The max resolution my GPU (GT 750m) can run is 2560x1440. When I set the resolution to 2560x1440, my desktop has thick black borders around the wallpaper. (See attached screenshot.) If I set the resolution to 1080p, the desktop is fine. Any resolutions in between also have borders. I can still right click on the black border section of the desktop, so the resolution is being applied, it's just the wallpaper that isn't scaling. Any ideas how to fix this?

Answer:Black border around Samsung U28D590D monitor at 1440p

Hi try adjusting the scaling in the graphics control panel could be called over or under scanning.

Please help me guys. I am playing a very old game. Burnout Paradise is a old 8 year old racing video game. I have a very powerful and capable computer to run a 8 year old game. Just check my system specs. I have a MSI R9 280X Twin Frozr 3GB. This card is a beast at running an 8 year old game. When I played Burn out Paradise at 1440p the game was dropping frames below 60fps but was getting above 30fps. This is a weird issue because the GTX 960 has similar performance to the R9 280X, In this video this person has a GTX 960 and is playing Burnout Paradise at 1440p 60fps no problem. Has the exact same settings as me, all max settings. So I assume this is a driver issue with the R9 280X. What drivers do I need to download so Burnout Paradise will play better? Also the audio is messed up too. Burnout Paradise is the only game that is giving me audio problems. I hear a buzzing noise from my monitor speakers whenever I play Burnout Paradise. I know there is nothing wrong with the monitor speakers. My monitor is the Acer H257HU.

Answer:Please Help, Playing 8 year old Game at 1440p and drops frames.

Excuse my English please as it's my second language...I have a 1440p 144hz monitor, I can not choose 1440p as an display option when connecting X1 to it via HDMI, I can only get 1080p in windows settings. In Intel HD Graphics Control Panel however, I can set custom resolution up to 2560*1440 @30hz, anything higher than that won't work, it says "The custom resolution exceeds the maximum badwidth capacity".I couldn't find the specification of the HDMI port on X1 carbon, but some people in the community say it's HDMI1.4 and they can get [email protected]? Then it should be able to handle [email protected] right? Also my cable shouldn't be the problem, since my other laptop can output 1440p @60hz just fine. Is anyone having the same problem?

Let me start with topologyModem>Router with 4 port switch>wireless AP.Router giving IP to AP clients (DHCP). Other clients static Ip.I have noticed on occasion that my modem will loose connection resulting in router to lose IP(WAN). Most of the time it will reinitialize by it self and sometimes I would have to disconnect from power and let it initialize to get IP from ISP.I narrowed it down to my wife's laptop from work. Every time she boots up it would reset my modem (cable BB). So far I came up with her laptop sending out UDP packets on ports 137,138 and 139 (netBIOS ETC.)every minute. Also UDP on ports 1032.1031 and 1210 and maybe some I missed. Now I understand that 137,138 and 139 is usual but every minute throws up flags and other ports sends flags for spyware and ad ware.My question is: I am looking for other possibilities to look into. I cannot run any software for ad ware or spy ware do to her company policy. I have spoke to her company support and they advised me not to touch her laptop. So as I wait for her techs to run scans I am looking for something I may have overlooked. Her laptop is WIN XP,VPN and firewall RSA SecurID also using Lotus Notes and a Web database. I am currently looking into maybe all this software is sending out a broadcast on initial boot and knocking modem offline.Any advice or more info needed? As always thanks in advance.

Answer:Modem resetting when client joins AP

if your wife's laptop is knocking the modem offline. My own laptop runs quite happily on all kinds of different setups, both private and corporate, and although I work constantly with wireless and wired networks I've never experienced a problem. My daughter's work laptop is configured in precisely the same way as your wife's, and she can use my wireless network without any problems at all. My guess would be that there's a modem-related problem - which model are you using?

The scenario is this
Table one - Customer list (name, address, phone)with CustomerName as Primary Key
Table Two - Product list (name, cost)with ProductName as Primary Key
Table three - Invoice list with two fields - CustomerName and ProductName
Very simple I know but I'm only learning...... (12 hours!)
Customers may have many invoices but each one has only one item on it.
My problem is I'm trying to get a list of customer names and totals for only one product
i.e. customer number 1 has ordered this product 6 times
customer number 2 has ordered it 4 times etc

I know the statement should be something like
select sum (product.productname)as total, customer.customername from customer, product, invoice where invoice.productname='certain product' group by customername;

I know that is probably really wrong but what should it be like? I know there should be some joins in there but left, right, inner????

Please help before I strangle that cat in desperation!

Answer:MYSQL Sum from two tables, joins AGGHH

An update to the above - I have done the statement in Access (it works...sort of) but when I try to write in in MySQL I run out of characters...??????

Original Article:Redmond Developer News | U.S. Government Joins Microsoft Against States
___________________________
The 2002 consent decree that partially governs Microsoft's actions about its monopolistic business practices was originally supposed to expire today. But Redmond is currently locked in a battle with a coalition of states that want to see federal oversight extended for another half-decade.

On Friday, Microsoft picked up an ally -- the very same government. The U.S. Department of Justice joined Microsoft in its attempt to persuade U.S. District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly that the consent decree has done its job and should expire this month.

At issue is the antitrust settlement that followed the Court's original finding that Microsoft had unfairly stifled competition through its Windows monopoly. Among other things, the decree stipulates that Windows development is supervised by a technical committee, and ensures that rivals have an even playing field. The current deadline was moved from today until Jan. 31 of next year.

The DOJ's brief argues that the states' rationale for extending the decree are illogical and even contradict their own past claims. The group of 17 states are led, as they have been throughout, by California and New York (called "Movants" in the brief). "The California and New York Movants advance inadequate and mutually inconsistent arguments to justify extension of the Final Judgments; both state groups argue theories,... Read more

Hi,

I have a bunch of IP devices on my network. Is there some software that will monitor & notify me when a new device is on my network? I would like to make sure when someone joins it either by DHCP or Static IP that I know about it.

Any thoughts would be great.

THanks,
Rich

Answer:Can I get a notification when a new device joins my network?

This is an interesting question so I'm sub'd for interest but on a side note, if you're paranoid about security / access, why don't you jot down a collection of MAC addresses of trusted wireless devices and then add them to a white list MAC filter? I'm assuming DHCP via wireless is what you care about, right? If you have people wire jacking into your DHCP, I'm sure you have bigger problems

Most WAP's support a guest wireless network for people who come over and jazz...

Hi All I need help w/ an sql query.

What I have is 3 tables.
Ledgers, Accounts and Contacts

For each account there are N Ledgers and N contacts.

I need a query that for each account pulls out all the ledgers (which I have no issue) now I need for each account and all the ledgers query 2 specific contacts. How can I pull this off.

What would be great is something like
.... JOIN contact b1 on (contact.something = account.something where contact.contact_type = something) JOIN contact b2 ON (contact.something = account.something where contact.contact_type = something2)

Answer:Solved: MySQL Where inside of joins

Spyware Doctor added to 'essential software collection'.

PC Tools has announced its Spyware Doctor program as the latest addition to Google Pack, a "free collection of essential software".

Google Pack includes Google Earth, Desktop, Picasa, Toolbar, Photos Screensaver, Talk and Video Player.

It also includes partner software such as Mozilla's Firefox, Adobe's Reader, Norton Security Scan, RealPlayer, GalleryPlayer HD Images, Skype and now Spyware Doctor.

"As part of this partnership we are providing an exclusive version of Spyware Doctor for Google Pack users," said PC Tools chief executive Simon Clausen.

The free edition offers the usual spyware detection and removal as well as real-time protection with PC Tools' new File Guard technology.

The free version is lacking a few features compared to the full version, such as Cookie Guard, Keylogger Guard, Startup Guard and Browser Guard. The free version also lacks phone support.

I have a ThinkPad S1 yoga bought in Dec 2013. I have being using the mini hdmi to work of 1 external 1080p monitor these last few years and it has worked fine. I now want to add a new second 1440 x 2560 along side my 1080 x 1920 monitor for a dual monitor set up. (Mostly for spreadsheets, emails, web browsing etc.) I do not mind if one of these duplicates my laptop screen. I was going to get the onelink dock to enable me to do this however I am not sure if it will work. I know the resolution with dual monitors running off the dock is limited at 1200p. What I now want to do is use the mini hdmi on my laptop for one monitor and the onelink dock for the other, however I want to be sure it will work before I go and buy the monitor and dock. Alternatively I could buy an USB 3.0 to hdmi adapted to run the 1080 monitor and a usb hub for the extra usb's I will need. (I think the dock will use less processing power and would be a slicker set up so I imagine it would be better?) You?re  help would be appreciated as I have read there can be issues trying to get higher resolution monitors to work.

Seems the NoScript add-on to Firefox has begun packaging a whitelist for the AdBlockPlus Firefox add-on.

Answer:NoScript Add-on to Firefox Joins Hall of Shame?

The latest release, 1.9.2.6, seems to have dealt with the issue;

"Why such a tight release schedule? Version 1.9.2.6 automatically and permanently removes the cotroversial NoScript Development Support Filterset deployed with NoScript 1.9.2.4. I sincerely apologize with those ABP users who missed the information about it given on the AMO install page, on this site's install page, on this very release note page and in the FAQ. Not including a prompt asking for permission beforehand from the start has been a very bad omission, and I want all the ABP users who felt betrayed to know how much I'm sorry for that. As a sign of good will, current NoScript 1.9.2.6 completely removes the filterset itself, if found there, on startup with no questions asked. Thanks for your patience.

Answer:Windows 2000 user joins new domain

Greetings

Try set him up with a roaming profile.

Open up User Manager for Domains, select his user account and open it.

Click on the Profile button and edit his profile like shown below (substituting the words server, share, username for the actual names)

Then copy his profile out of "c:\Documents and Settings" on his HD to that share.

Then do the same for the Win2000 server, and copy the profile to a server on that domain.

See what happens...

A few days ago the Dell monitor died and would not turn on at all. So I replaced it with a 19" Viewsonic. It worked for one night, and the next day it went black, saying it had no signal.

I tried moving it to a different DVI port, taking out the video card and using the onboard VGA, resetting the CMOS, and also tried another monitor (although the Viewsonic works when plugged into another computer)

So in a nutshell, even when I take out the video card, plug the monitor into the onboard VGA port, and reset the CMOS, it still doesn't display anything.

There are no POST beeps at all. I just turn on the computer, the fans spin, DVD opens/closes, HDD spins up, but nothing gets displayed on the screen.

I really hope I don't have to replace the motherboard, but does anyone have other ideas before I do that?

I am trying to connect my Dell XPS 15 9550 laptop to an Acer X34 monitor using this [USB-C to Displayport cable](www.amazon.com/.../ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00. I can use this cable for my previous monitor which was an LG 1440p ultrawide monitor with no issues (3440x1440 60hz). I am getting a "No signal" message when I use try to use this USB-C to Displayport cable with this monitor.
Could it be the quality of the cable? I have ordered another cable from Amazon which arrives two days from now but I am unsure if this will make any difference. Any suggestions?

Seeems like the French are concerned about this bug too.

or it could just be politics

Hello all

I work in an organization with 40+ PCs all connected to an Active Directory on a Windows Server 2012 with a Domain setup...etc.

Windows 7:
Prior Windows Server, we had LDAP on a linux server, which is still connected but is no longer used.
Windows 7 required to have 2 registry keys (info: here):
DNSNameResolutionRequired - set to 0
DomainCompatibilityMode - set to 1
and that's the only way we can join Windows 7 to the LDAP domain.
We purchased Windows server and we still install these keys prior joining the Windows Domain.
But it works, everyone logs in, they can see the NAS and file share like a big happy family.

Windows 10:
Joining a fresh install of a Windows 10 PC to Windows Server 2012 domain, will require these registries added, BUT...once this is done, no domain user can EVER log into active directory, no matter if its the actual administrator of the server or a staff user. (local users are able to login).
Windows 7 upgraded to Windows 10 PC (with undeleted data, and prejoined to the Windows domain from Windows 7) only users with opened accounts in C:\Users\ will be able to log in as seen in the screenshots:

if the user does not exist in the path (has never logged into the system with a profile since Windows 7) will not be logged in and receive the error: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.

This has nothing to do with the server, right? is it something to with the registry entries? something to with profile parame... Read more

Hello all

My client has 40 PCs and Windows Server 2012 with active directory users and domain.

Windows 7 PCs join domain and logs all domain users into the PC, but I have to include these registry keys prior joining the server.
DNSNameResolutionRequired
DomainCompatibilityMode

Windows 10 PC can join the domain but only users who have signed into the PC before can use it.
So its virtually impossible for any domain users to log in if the PC was pre-installed with Windows 10. but if its upgraded from windows 7 (With domain connected), then you can only login as those who previously logged into it!
others will get this message: "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request".

This has nothing to do with the server, right? is it something to with the registry entries? something to with profile parameters?

Ideas WILL help the human race...

NOTE: in the screenshot, you can see users logged in from windows 7 prior Windows 10 installation, these users CAN login, but for example jerrard.blacksmith cannot log in while he's in the AD, but NOT in the Users folder as he never logged into that PC.

Thanks all

Monty

This 64 bit gaming machine (which runs faster and hotter than my quad processor Dell Latitude) and which has been running pretty well for a couple of years has recently developed an odd recurring problem, Clicking an icon will cause the display to blank out. The screen then returns (without reboot) but only after some of the type of colour display you might see when running diagnostics. It is equipped with a NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS.

What could this be? Flash player crashes (which are always a problem) have recently gotten a lot more frequent. Norton is running at all times and doing idle scans and there have been no recent malware incidents reported. However, the Norton install itself is new and is frequently reporting excessive memory usage from Google Chrome or other browsers.

Thanks, cCc

Answer:Asus g2s display not working

For reference

http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Features/Power4Gear

Hmmm I'm not familiar with the software but by the sound of it can modify power features through bios settings,if this is the case and it has messed one of the settings up you may need a bios reset,in any case a bios reset is the course of action I would choose,to reset the bios you will probably have to disassemble the notebook,if your lucky the cmos battery will be under one of the add in card slots or the hard drive bay in which case just disconnect all power including the main battery, remove coin shaped battery for 20 secs, replace then try to power up.

To find out where the battery is you will have to download the service manual from the Asus site and read the dissassembly instructions,if your stuck or need help undertstanding the manual or my post don't hesitate to post back

For kicks though first remove the main battery and try to power up with just the power supply and then just on the battery.

Hello,

My A6G notebook has recently started having a very strange problem. I had it up on a table, hooked into my wireless network, as I was working on a sewing project and was referencing several websites. I had left it on one particular page for, I guess, an hour or two (I had disabled the screensaver and energy-saving modes so as nto to deal with the hassle of going out of them all the time), and when I went to look at it the display was .... strange.

Gray hues took on a pinkish cast, and the menu bars (like right now, the menu bar of my browser says 'ASUSTek Computer Inc.-Forum') -- which normally are a gradient that goes from blue to gray -- was weirdly banded in shades of pink, magenta, and yellow. The mouse pointer shadow takes on a vague greenish outline, as well. I rebooted to see if that would help, and noticed that the Windows banner (the four-colored one that shows up as it starts loading up) was weirdly hued as well. I can read the text and all, its just the colors that are strange. There also seems to be a sort of vague pixel wavering going on, like the pixels are now more prominent.

I have tried various things to little effect. I know I have nto changed it from its native display mode (though I have tested changing it back and forth to see if it helps -- it doesn't). I had it set to a purely black screen saver for about 30 minutes and when I turned it back on, it _did_ seem to be corrected for a little while before shifting back to this proble... Read more

Hi, Ive had a asus eee pc 1005PE for the past few months and it's worked perfectly until today when I dropped it 1m onto a wooden floor. Now when I turn it on, then screen works briefly before half of it either goes black or shows vertical lines. The actual display is undamaged since it shows my desktop in full colour before it screws up, so it seems that the LCD cable which connects the display to the motherboard has become loose or damaged. I've managed to open the netbook and access the motherboard but am hesitant to remove the motherboard since I've never attemped to troubleshoot somehing like this before.Could anyone who has experience with this or similar issues please advise where the connections for the LCD cable most likely are on the motherboard. Any alternate suggestions are welcome - pictures and video would help toothanks for your assistance - Keviv

I own an asus M2N68-AM SE2 recently it doesn't show any display[even the bios stetup].I have checked the RAM and GPU and they are fine. The monitor works perfectly on other PC's so there is no fault with it.The motherboard receives power[which is evident by the fact that the processor fan works and cd drive works even the lan blinks on] but shows no display.
I have tried to reset the bios jumper yet no display. What could possibly be the problem.

Answer:No display on ASUS M2N68-AM SE2

Just check whether you've tried these: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic133294.html

If your GPU and monitor are fine, it usually indicates a bad CPU or mobo.

Laptop specs:

Asus N550JK

Intel Core i7

8gb RAM

Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 850m

Dual booted Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16

Problem:

When I fist noticed the problem, the display would cut out when I moved the lid. The screen had power but no display. This was fixed in Windows by restarting the display via FN + f7 shortcut. The issue was also fixed by a suspend in both windows and Ubuntu. Now the display normally cuts out right after I log in for both OSs. The display never cuts out after boot and before log in. If I close the lid and suspend I normally can't get the display to come back without a reboot. When the screen display cuts out I still have a working display on an external monitor via HDMI. The display has never cut out while accessing the UEFI settings. If I remember correctly, this problem started before I installed Ubuntu but I might be wrong.

What I've tried:

Updating / reinstalling drivers
Cleaning out dust

So i have had this laptop for about a year now, i has never had any problems. I think the only risk i took was running production software on it but its been doing well and running the software well for more than six months now.
About three weeks ago I was just watching the office on it and the episode glitched a bit but i thought nothing of it(maybe it still has nothing to do with my current difficulty). When i was done, i shut the lid of my laptop, it was still running and carried it upstairs. I realised i needed to actually work downstairs so I carried it back down and when i tried to turn it on, it was like "nope". Well to be accurate it turns on(i can see that the power light is on) but the screen is just black and i cant hear any sound or anything. It just like being stuck in space or something. It doesn't even growl. Like you know when the hard drive comes alive.

I noticed that when I can only turn it off when the charger is out and it mediately turn on when i put the charger in.

Help please!

Hi Does anyone know if I can run two vga flat panels with d-sub connectors from this mobo.Manual says:Dual VGA output DVI-D and RGB,Then says: Note DVI-D only supports digital display. You cannot convert DVI-D to output RGB signal to CRT display.I have two LCD flat panels with d-sub connector are these digital or RGB ? Confused.Skyfly

Answer:Asus M2NPV-VM Dual Display

The simple answer is NO you can?t run two VGA flat panels with d-sub connectors from this mobo.?Dual VGA output DVI-D and RGB?Mean if you monitor have a DVI-D digital connecter and a RGB connector you can connect it via the DVI-D or the RGB connector If monitor only have a RGB connector you have to connect via the RGB connectorAll CRT type monitors use a RGB type connector Some LCD panel monitors have both DVI-D and a RGB connector Read this Guide to Monitor Cablesclick here
