Deleted volume driver on accident! please help!!

Question: Deleted volume driver on accident! please help!!

This is a very huge problem that i created about a couple months ago. I deleted my volume driver on accident. I think i accidently deleted important audio files for the sound driver to work. I've tried reinstalling the audio driver but i couldn't get it to work!. when i do it and restart my computer it popps up blue screen and says something about me not installing the program correctly, or that it is a corrupted audio driver. I really really need help with this, I've tried system restoring, and just do not know what to do anymore! i really need your help please! I think my audio driver is Realtek AC'97 Audio, That's what it says to intall when i search for missing drivers. Also my computer system information is, Microsoft Windows XP version 2002 SP3.

Preferred Solution: Deleted volume driver on accident! please help!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, a few days ago I deleted the network adapter driver from my laptop by accident after I was having issues with Windows 10. Plugging an Ethernet cable into the laptop will not connect to the Internet (haven't been able to connect via Ethernet for a few years, I've always used wifi). Is there a way to get the driver back without downloading it to a usb and installing?I've tried doing the "scan for hardware changes" option but nothing comes up. The only selection I have under Network Adpaters is VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapters and I cannot connect using an Ethernet cable.

I didn't notice at the time so I don't know what it was called originally. My device manager shows I have no audio device installed and i've been to the Asus website to see if I can download the appropriate one but I'm confused as to what I'm looking at. Its my "Multimedia Audio Controller" that has the error icon next to it and says no drivers are installed.Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Hello, I recently purchased Dell XPS 8700 that came with a 2tb harddive formatted with GPT. The computer came with Windows 8, and I wanted to downgrade to Windows 7. However the windows installer wouldn't install on any of the current partitions, so I deleted every partition with gParted and proceeded to install Windows 7 successfully onto the one giant partition. Since I deleted all the GPT partition information (Idiotically), I am unable to make more partitions and dual boot.

So my questions are: Is my harddrive as of right now in MBR or GPT? And how would I add the GPT partitions back, as in the primary and secondary GPT headers?

Edit: I am attempting to dual boot with Xubuntu 14.04 and Windows 7 Professional, both 64bit and the computer has the UEFI, I think. Am I better off using MBR or GPT to dual boot? I only want two OS's and a shared data partition.

Answer:Deleted all the GPT Partitions by accident

Quote:
Since I deleted all the GPT partition information (Idiotically), I am unable to make more partitions and dual boot.

Deleting all GPT partitions is a recommended step to downgrade "Windows 8" as "Windows 7" is known to not much liking GPT based UEFI boot mode. Although "Win 7" 64 bit edition may boot from a GPT disk, i prefer MBR partitioning especially in case of dual booting with Linux. The only mistake you made here is not to partition the disk at the time of install. Fortunately you can split the single large "C" partition to two or three small partitions with the help of "Partition Wizard" free edition.
Download link : Best Free Partition Manager Freeware and free partition magic for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows XP 32 bit & 64 bit. MiniTool Free Partition Manager Software Home Edition.
What you need to do is first shrink/resize "C" and create one or more new partitions using the free space.

pc has 2 drives in it. c: and d:. i was installing xp pro on c: and during the install the process asked me if I wanted to delete partitions. I selected the wrong one (d: ) and deleted it. I did not format it. Is there a way to get all the data off that drive? I tried PC Inspector File Recovery but that program does not get all the files. It seems to pick up only on directories and nothing else. This d: drive is in a pc that has win2k pro with SP4 and windows no longer sees this drive. any help would be appriciated

I have a 2TB external hard drive and a 1TB external hard drive.
I got a new 2TB internal hard drive and was installing Windows on it.
On the screen where it showed the connected drives, I stupidly forgot the 2 external drives were still connected. I thought somehow it was breaking up the new 2TB internal drive into 3 separate partitions. I clicked on the two external drives and deleted the partitions because I thought it would merge them. I DID NOT format luckily.
I am in the middle of running the Analyzer using TestDisk on the 2TB external. Since it is a 2TB hard drive, it is analyzing about 10% of the disk per day. So I guess it will take 10 days to finish. Small price to pay if I can recover all the data on these drives. One has all our home movies and photos and the other has all our scanned documents in PDF format. Sigh.
I am wondering if I am doing this the right way with TestDisk? Is there a faster way? When I deleted the partitions, the process took less than a second. The drives were partitioned to used 100% of the drive space. I read the page TestDisk Step By Step but still not sure if there isn't an easier way for my particular blunder. Nothing should be corrupted. Just deleted.
Thank you!

Answer:Deleted Partitions By Accident Please Help

Yes it should be faster. I thought there were two levels to the restore deleted partitions and only the deeper level involves scanning the surface for old deleted partitions.

Answer:deleted userinit.exe by accident

There is a backup copy in C:\Windows\System32\dllcache

most of the time it is compressed in this folder.

Here is a copy of it from my XP installation (uncompressed)
See attached
You will need a XP install CD and use recovery environment to copy the file to the proper place, or use an Ubuntu boot CD to do it.

Here is an article on using a Ubuntu CD to copy data off an unbootable windows PC, one could also use it to copy a file to a Windows folder.

I've got an encrypted by truecrypt 1G WD elements SE volume.
Before accident, every time when I plugged this volume into my notebook, my system (windows 7 64) showed me a popup massage "You need to format the disc in drive I: before you can use it".
I didin't turn off it (I haven't known how), of course everything worked fine then,

but one day, accidentally I triggered it, and then, system instantly showed me
"the disk I: has been formated correctly" I didn't believe that disk was formated,
I opened truecrypt, I entered password, I tried to mount a disc, but a disk was completely empty. For 5 minutes I hadn't believed that disc was formated that fast.

There is any chanse to restore files on a disc?
I'm starting to believe that this is a permament erase

|edit|:
I guess, It's imposible to erase 10GB of files in such short time,
I think only a main entries to the encrypted volume have been deleted, but files are still, somewhere.

Hi

There are two types of formating Quick and Normal. Quick basically deletes your root directory but doesn't delete the data files. There are services and utilities available to try and recover your data but there are no guarantees.

I don't think any undelete utility will work and the fact that this is an encrypted drive will further complicate things.

A quick google search shows a number of utilities that say they can recover data after an... Read more

I just deleted an email in Outlook 2007 by accident & now I cant find it in any of my trash folders?

But for some reason it doesnt look like my trash folders are synced up with my godaddy account?

But I looked for the email on the godaddy server & it wasnt in my inbox on their cloud mail client either?

Answer:Just deleted an email by accident, now I cant find it?

I don't know anything about godaddy, but do they have a spam folder? Chances are that it isn't there either, otherwise your client wouldn't have received it. Do you have the client set to leave the messages on godaddy? If so, either the client or godaddy is haywire. If in neither place, I would say that it is gone, unless you use a file recovery program to search for it.

Due to an unfortunate pop-up click by her boyfriend, by roomate's HP Omnibook 4150 went haywire and mad crazy with spyware, malware, virii, you name it. It was almost back to normal after extensive anti-spyware and virus cleaners ran through it, then, at the last second, some bad stuff went down.

Ok another idea...

There is a site (I think it's something like bootdisk.com) that has many different Windows boot disks that you could download and try. I'll do a search on the net and try to find it for you. You could burn the download to CD and see if that works...

Hey Guys I screwed up as follows:

I was fooling around with my graphics drivers and accidentally deleted them. A screen popped up to reboot the computer. It rebooted.

Now whenever I restart my computer, first a microsoft screen appears, then it appears to load but I have no on-screen visual as i get a monitor error message (Not Optimum Mode, Recommended 1920x1200, 60Hz), I am therefore unable to download and install any updated drivers.

What Can I do to restore my Drivers or at least get a visual to Re-install them?

I'm running Windows Vista, and one of the newer NVidia Graphics Cards.

Answer:Deleted Graphics Drivers By Accident

I believe you'd need to boot into safe mode in order to get the resolution down, or at least that's the easiest way I can think of. Boot into safe mode and allow as much as possible, try installing your drivers from there.

I've attached 2 screen shots because i'm sure my explanation is poor. Anyway, this is driving me crazy - can't figure it out. I've been messing around with it for hours - at one point i had 'desktop' with about 15 'desktop' subfolders......

I don't even remember how I built it in the first place. The page is really 2 pages and I deleted one by accident. Is there a easy way of fixing this or do I have to rebuild both pages. Please some one if u know please tell me ...
If I can use the cached page what html can I remove to repair it back to the way it was.
Then how do I get it back in the place of the missing page?

I accidently deleted the Administrator file and need to know how to get it back where the Owner file is. I moved the file from the Recycle bin by click and hold and moved to desktop. I know I should have restored. Now it has the desktop as its routing (I can't think what else to call it). I can now log on if the error message that says "microsoft cannot log on" stays on the screen long enough to click OK. If the screen does not stay the computer trys to boot up (I guess) but will not do anything until the screen times out and I press a key; than the "microsoft cannot log on" error message will come up and I click OK. Than a screen appears that shows the Owner and I click on it and every thing works all right. I would apprciate any help. Let me know if I need to explain more.

I deleted Advanced video/audio fx engine from my laptop, which is a Dell Inspirion 1525, all by accident. Without install cd, how can i reinstall from my Recovery drive "D"?

Answer:Advanced video/audio deleted by accident

The best place to start would be to visit the dell support site, navigate to your product page and see if you can download the latest drivers from there. Reinstalling from your recovery drive would probably overwrite a lot of files that you want to keep.

This pc has two hard drives and I was cleaning (deleting unwanted files) on the secondary one which only contains data files. Than to my surprise I launched Adobe Photoshop CS2 a day later only to find it looking for missing files (as in the program won't even launch). It than occurred to me that there was an ''Adobe'' folder I deleted by accident. :cry

I can't believe I made such a beginner mistake but I haven't met anyone that installs programs on a secondary drive in ages. Don't really need the darn program anymore. I had defragmented the hdd a few times after that. Don't know if that matters.

Is there a way for me to uninstall this program now?

Or get the files back?

I rather go the easy route, whichever is better.

Hi, this is my first posting. :)

My friend was just infected by Spy Sheriff :( He uses Window XP Home edition. He got instruction from an online support, which part of the procedures is for him to use the CleanUp! software and using Custom CleanUp! which invovles the following:

-> Empty Recycle Bins
-> Delete Cookies
-> Delete Prefetch files
-> Scan local drives for temporary files
-> Cleanup! all users

Once he clicked "OK" to CleanUp!All users, his computer lost all icon images, he cannot see any icon on task bar, I.E. and can't even start some applications. But he still have Spy Sheriff on his wall paper :(

Can this be fixed? how?

Please kindly help ASAP!

I've been using StyleXP for awhile now. Usually without any trouble. Lately, I haven't been able to change my visual style. When I try to, it just stays at the one I'm currently using. Stupidly, I decided to delete all of the desktop.ini files I could find (in My Pictures, My Music, My Documents) thinking somehow, that would fix it.

It didn't. So now those three folders lost their little special-folder images (as well as the icons for C:, D: etc under 'My Computer', and my VS is still the same. I'm annoyed!. Can anyone help?

Answer:StyleXP not working & I deleted desktop.ini on accident

Hi toybird

Sorry for the delay in getting a reply to you (been busy). Any luck yet finding a solution?

If not, try these for a quick repair
1) System Restore
2) Uninstall StyleXP
3) Run a Registry Cleaner (CCleaner is effective).
4) Reinstall StypeXP

. . . and anytime you have unexpected system behavior, run some malware scans to rule out unexpected visitors causing havor with your system files.
_____________

To try System Restore:
1) Boot your computer into Safe Mode (start tapping the F8 key as the computer is starting up, and select "Safe Mode" from the Boot Menu).
2) Logon as "Administrator".
3) Click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore, and select a restore point from before trouble started.

Try CCleaner to clean up
1) You can download CCleaner here --- http://www.download.com/CCleaner/300...-10315544.html
2) Run the "Cleaner" functions to clean up temp files & other accumulating unnecessary files. Then run the "Issues" functions to clear up problems in the Registry. Run the "Issues" functions until CCleaner reports "no issues found."

Best of luck

Hi everyone...

Thanks in advance for helping me out.

I have both an inspiron 700m and a xps laptop...both dells obv. After breaking my lcd screen in the 700m i sent my computer in to be serviced. When trying to reformat the inspiron I accidently used the xps recovery and reformat disk to try to reinstall everything on the insiron. The trouble now is, all of the drivers are for the xps but are installed to the inspiron resulting in no sound or recognition of the wireless card, etc. I am pretty sure I deleted my inspiron's partition and cannot partake in the Ctrl + F11 command. If anyone knows how to fix this or recover my old inspiron partition and make it to where the inspiron was like new again with all the right drivers it would be a HUUUUUUUUGE help.

Thank you.

There was another thread about this, but the solution wasn't clearly explained. A user provided the OP with a Desktop.ink file, and nothing was said about what to do with the file that was provided. I'm having the same problem, where I deleted the file by accident and now there is no live tile for the desktop anywhere on the start screen, not even in the All Apps category. Guys I took a hard drive out of a macbook pro and placed it into a external enclosure. I connected it to my pc running vista and I was copying the files from the macbook pro onto my pc and by accident I hit the delete button.

The folder that I deleted is still in the recycle bin, well at least I can see it but the size of it is over 2 gb. I tried to just restore it but that is not working. Thing is I do not need the entire folder just maybe 100 mb of some files that are inside which is just pdf and documents. Any idea on what I can do? I have tried several different types of software and most will not work because I am guessing the macbook pro hard drive is a raw drive.

Thanks guys.

If you have an installation disc, either for Windows 7 or Windows 10, try booting off the CD if possible. Otherwise, if you have a different computer readily available that can connect to the internet, download a copy of Hirens, take the hard disk out of the PC and put in the other computer, write the Hirens ISO to a CD and boot off the CD. Then use the file manager to move all the important files to another hard disk. Once that's done, Open Partition Manager and delete the Partition, before reinstalling windows and all your programs. Hi, it depends what 'wiped' means here. Can you post the command you used?

Meanwhile try one or more of the popular data recovery programs e.g. Recuva.

Hi,

You can use the undelete option in a 3rd party partition manager. As long as you haven't attempted to change that partition in any way other than delete it, should work fine.

If you have a partition Manager - see if it has that option. Post back and let me know.

Hi guys, first time poster here so hopefully this will be at least somewhat bearable.

OK, so here is what I wanted to do, I was looking around the net and stumbled on to some videos about software RAID with USB drives. I know it isn't a very elegant or practical solution but I thought it would just be cool to see it working. So I found this article How to Create a Software RAID Array in Windows 7 and figured that since disk management in both 7/8 are essentially the same it wouldn't be a problem. I then went to delete the volumes on the flash drives and saw the option was grayed out. So in that state the drives cannot be used for what I wanted them to be used for. I did notice that on his tutorial his drives were described as "Basic" and my drives are described as "Removable" I think that somewhere along the line I saw something about removable drives being hard to work with in disk management so that may be it.
So if anyone knows how to do this all help is greatly appreciated!

I'm not understanding your problem very well as your post is somewhat brief and hard to comprehend.

1. I'm assuming by "baku" you mean backup? Please confirm.

2. When you say you deleted your system volume information do you mean the actual folder itself, or the contents of the folder?

3. When you say "no restore" do you mean you can not now set a restore point?

Any further details you can give as to what you did and what you are trying to do would be helpful.

I now cannot see my drive K: when I go into My Computer, but it is their in device manager, when I plug it in an out, i get the noise, but I just cant access it, so I did a system restore to a few days ago, but no look its still gone, i actually am not worried about the files on it, I just wanted to be able to use it again.

I am using Vista Home.

Answer:Accidentally deleted volume under disk management

You should be able to go back into Disk Management to re-initialize and reformat the drive. With the Disk Management window open, look down at the list where the individual drives are listed in bold print (it should list Disk 0, Disk 1, the CD drives, etc). The drive in question should be listed; right click on the bold print for the drive and choose initialize. Once that is done, you should be able to partition and format as usual.

Hi, I accidentally deleted the volume on my 3rd hard drive and now my Windows Vista PC won't even recognize the drive. How can I fix this?

The problem started when I put my old Barracuda 160 gig drive in a usb external case and couldn't get it to work until I put the jumpers on 7-8. The problem was, it was asking me to format the drive which was full of files which I wanted to retrieve. Through a series of now obvious mistakes, I first shrunk the volume backwards, I meant to shrink only 50 MB but deleted all but 50 MB and then stupidly deleted the entire volume.

What I need now is to at least be able to have my PC recognize the drive again and to be able to restore the full volume but would ideally like to still be able to retrieve the data, if that's even possible at this point. Also, why does, or did my computer only recognize this drive in the 7-8 jumper configuration? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tony

There's proprietary software that provides this functionality. You may need to scour Lenovo's website for downloads of this nature, or contact them directly to see if they can provide you with a download. Or if the laptop came with backups of this kind where you can install the various software from CDs, then start looking.

I had all my files saved on the secondary Western Digital 160GB Sata HDD, it was listed first at the time... But I accidentally deleted the volume on it.. Is there a way to get those files back? I had photos, movies, music, some other important files. The whole reason for having them on that secondary drive was to save them (kicking myself), until I installed Windows 7 on the new 500GB Sata HDD... I got a copy of Paragon Partition Manager 11 Personal ... and going through the Undelete Partition wizard now... Any help? Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

PS. I just did the "delete" option in the Windows 7 installation section for "advanced options", the HDDs were there.. but I accidentally hit delete on the 160GB instead... That's all I did with the drive though.

Answer:Went through to Windows 7 installation, deleted wrong HDD volume..

To try and answer your question; yes and no. You can take the drive and try to have it professionally recovered. There are some companies out there that specifically recover data from these types of situations. This can be very expensive and no guarantee. I know this not what you wanted to here.

I have 3 hdd in my system and have made notations as to the location of each drive and how the OS see's each of them...ie 0 is hard drive 1, 1 is hard drive 2 and 2 is hard drive 3, which is the way I have mine installed in the hdd cage...I know that hdd 0 is the 1TB drive and hdd 1 and 2 are 320 GB for backups and data storage. Keeping in mind each drive letter that the OS assigns to each of them. So when a re-install of the OS comes along I know what hdd is what and where.

I have many volumes and on each of them there is a recycle bin. Can deleted file be in recyle bin on another disk, volume? For example if reserve space for Recycle Bin on this volume is over. Or each Recycle bin is only for it's volume?

Answer:Can deleted file be in recyle bin on another disk, volume?

Hello userwin,

Each volume has it's own hidden protected OS $Recycle.bin file that stores deleted items from only that volume. One volume cannot have it's $Recycle.bin file on a different volume. It must be on itself.

When you open the Recycle Bin, it lets you see all the deleted items from the $Recycle.bin files from each volume there much like a library does with included folders.

If you like, you can change the storage size of the recycle bin for each volume to fit your needs if free space is available to do so.

Recycle Bin storage size

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Ok I am going to create a new thread on this, as I had been posting on one dated from 2012 that was an identical issue, but I think starting a new thread would be better.

I have a 1TB Western Digital HDD.

It is not my OS.

It is my data storage drive, with over 850GB of data and applications installed on it; while my OS resides by itself on my SSD.

I also have a small 1GB usb drive.

I was attempting to set up the USB drive as a bootable and was about to wipe it clean.

I was in Disk Management in Windows 7.

The WD showed up as 932GB.
The USB showed up as 934GB

I got the two mixed up, and I accidently deleted the Volume on the WD.

I did nothing else at that point, other then have a complete and total panic attack, nearly lost my dinner into a toilet... then started Googling for a solution or fix.

Google brought me here, to this thread - Undelete Hard disk Volume and recover data!

The poster appears to have done the exact same thing I did, and even posted that they found their own solution.

Answer:Accidently deleted/recreated HDD Volume, did NOT format, need recovery

So I could really use some help with this...

I'm not too familiar with this Active Partition Recovery program...

Should I just bite the bullet, spend the money to buy their full version that will allow me access to their "delete invalid volume" and "recovery in place" options...

Or is there some other way I can recover this lost volume for free?

Hi I had 2 external hard drives connected and in disk manager I clicked delete on the wrong one? So now the drive wont show up, so I simply created a Simple volume and know it is a RAW drive? How do I recover the files there was over 100GB and some of them are really important such as records and work related stuff, it is currently a RAW partition and all the hard disk recovery softwares dont recognise it because it is a RAW drive? do i have to format it to recover the files? Please Help!?!

Answer:*Important* Accidently deleted volume in Disk Manager, how to recover?

Do not format the disk.
this would make your task more difficult or even impossible.

There are free partition recovery tools available on the net.

Question the deletion, was it your operating system or are you still able to boot into Windows. I have never been in this position but someone will post some software for you. Just don't muddle the disk any further.

If you are able to boot into Windows this link will give you an idea of what you are looking for. Hang on because I know some forum members have done this will be suggesting more software.

Iobit's Driver Booster has screwed up my Dell Laptop. For the last four weeks I've searched the web for some way to put my drivers back into place. Every driver was forced replaced with generic or unknown drivers.

Here's what do work: hard drive, monitor, USB ports, ethernet, power, battery and charger.

The touchpad and keyboard for my laptop do not work now. I'm only able to use a Usb mouse and keyboard. The touchpad and keyboard do work during boot until the windows logo. The function (Fn-F3) key to switch the laptop touchpad on and off does not work. None of the Fn keys work right now.

Apparently, I also do not have plug n play, eventhough services.msc shows pnp is set to automatic and is started. If I un-install a device driver and re-boot, I get NO balloon message of new hardware found.

The audio driver will not install completely because there is no audio device found.

A total of 12 items in device manager still have yellow exclamation marks. I re-installed the correct dell driver for the DVD but no cd or dvd is recognized nor will it populate. The drivers status in device manager call for either Code 3 or Code 24 errors.

I have re-installed a few system drivers, like the HD graphics 3000 driver, the Intel(R) Management Engine Interface driver and Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family SMBus Controller. They did have yellow exclamations but do not now.

I found a similiar issue for errors in drivers and the registry. The website tells of almost all d... Read more

Hey guys:

I'm an idiot!!! Last night I deleted my System Volume Information folder off of a Raid-0 set of hard drives. As I mentioned, this raid set is not drive with my XP on it. This is just a drive for storage of pictures, video, and other programs I prefer not to have on my C:\. I did take go as far as to turn off System Restore before deleting it. Now when I boot up I cannot access the drive at all. It tells me that "The drive is not formatted. Do I want to format it now?."

I don't want to do that and I am wondering if there is a way to create a new System Volume Information folder so I can access the drive again???

Thanks

Answer:Deleted System Volume Information Folder on a Non-Operating system drive???

I think you are connecting the dots...where there is no connection.

Deleting a system volume folder...isn't possible by me, even when system restore is not used (I always disable SR immediately after a clean install). Even though the folders are empty and I don't have SR employed, the system won't allow me to delete these empty folders.

I believe that the problem is your RAID setup...perhaps you ought to try to repair it.

The error sign in Device Mgr says Microsoft WPD File System Volume Driver (location UMBus Enum) has a yellow yellow yield sign with an exclamation point problem. The driver Dell recommends will not "take" and when I force it, it will not work either but changes this device to a generic name. I have changed almost every other driver recommended up to date by Dell for my Inspiron 1520 Laptop and this one says this older 2006 driver is a compatible driver but it still cannot start.

Also, another prob, I think what my computer thinks is a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller may not be one but may be something else because it seems to be interrelated to the problem. I have tried some 40 fixes. Some of my own ideas and all of the ones suggested here and other blogs as well as all from Microsoft and Dell. You are the only hope I have left.

Oh, and this all started when I reinstalled Vista 32 again last week and got all their new updates loaded. There were over 100 of those. It crashed on several but I perservered to this point.

Also, there is an extra drive G:\ with 0 bites in it that is a non existent removable drive.

Also, I do not have MMC running????? Why I don't know. Local Users and Groups is not to be found under Systme Tools.

OK, this is NOT an April fools joke. Somebody please help me sort out this demon's problem. Thanks in advance, you have always come through for me.

I'm not sure if this happened with 5.55, but with 5.56, when I hit the volume up or down on my keyboard to turn the sound down for everything, it turns down winamp's volume bar too. Sometimes I can move winamp's volume bar up and down and it won't even be working. What causes this? It's pretty annoying for the music to turn down twice as fast or winamp's volume bar to not even work at all.EDIT: Moved to a more appropriate forum

Answer:Volume keys turning down computer volume and winamp volume at the same time?

Hi. I'm trying to get rid of files and this one is the main one that I have found so far that is getting stuck and not being deleted. It says that "change.log" is being used by other users.

Occasionally as well a chinese website pops up for some reason.

Thanks

I deleted mi1.exe because Norton said it was adware but then my computer froze and now when I start it up I get a blue screen that says: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. Technical Information: STOP 0x000000ED (0x82F8E3680, xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)" I have tried to start in Safe Mode, Normal Mode, and Last Known Good Configuration but I get this same screen every time. I have no idea what to do. Can anyone help me? (Dell Latitude C400 using Windows XP Pro)

Answer:Deleted Mi1.exe then "Unmountable Boot Volume" error

I contacted Dell customer support on a live chat and we tried to restore the system to a date when it was working but windows was corrupt and I had to completely reinstall Windows XP. I wouldn't touch the Mi1.exe file if I were you. The upside is that the Dell rep was really nice and explained things well so at least I know I have good support from the manufacturer.

Hi there,
my SanDisk flash drive suddenly is not working. It's detected in the "devices and printers," in "device manager," and even in the "disk management." But, i can find it in my explorer.

Then, I try the troubleshooter, and end up with this:

Ok so my computer has been crashing randomly for some reason. I checked my device manager and the only thing that had the yellow exclamation mark was 'file as volume driver'. What is this and could it be the cause of my system crashing?
Thanks in advance

Are we talking BSODs here? If so, please upload your most recent dump (crash dump, that is) so we can take a look at what exactly is causing the crash.

If you are unsure of how to do so, take a look here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...en-forums.html

Thanks!
