Preferred Solution: Toshiba Satelite C655 doesn't recognize network controller

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Toshiba Satelite C655 doesn't recognize network controller

It shoulda taken care of it on factory restore...however i'd re-install laptop drivers...either from the driver CD that came with it...or from the laptop manuf. website...

I have the Ethernet cable currently connected and that is working just fine, however the laptop will not recognize a wireless network. Do not really know much about how to fix computers so i checked the adapter in the Device manager and it claims to be functioning normally... any suggestions

I put windows 7 on this older laptop that is an a15-s1292 satelite and everything works great but under the device manager it shows no drivers for the video controller! I went to toshibas website and they do not have this model listes as supported by them for windows 7 Any help you can give would be appreciated!!
thanks

Answer:toshiba satelite a15-s1292 and need a video controller

Is it suported by vista? You may even be able to install an XP driver this way. Follow this tutorial. Compatibility Mode >(edit) I don't see it listed at all. So go to device manager click on display adapter>properties>details>drop down menu hardware id. Then post a screen shot of what's listed and we'll seee about getting you a driver. Hello,

I have notebokk Toshiba Satelite L300-1AM

My HD is broken and I would like to replace this HD into SSD.
Is this notebook supporting SATA 2 or SATA 3.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Answer:Has Toshiba Satelite L300-1AM - Sata 2 or 3 HDD controller?

Satellite L300 is pretty old notebook model so, in my opinion, it definitely doesn't support SATA 3.
Anyway, you can upgrade it with SSD and you will get real good performance. I have upgraded my old P500 with SSD and it works really fast now.

Of course to get most performance from your machine I also recommend you RAM upgrade and Win7 32bit installation. Long time ago I?ve installed Win7 32bit on friends L300 and it runs very good and stabile. Better than original Vista version.

If you have more questions you are welcome.

Hi everyone I'm new here and hoping there are some smarter people here than what I've been lead along by, sometimes it takes a group all on the same page.
I have a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi EA4500 N900 wireless router and shaw modem
I am using a Toshiba Satelite laptop which uses a Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless Lan 802.11n PCI-E NIC network adapter drivers upto date.
I checked for firmware update on wireless modem and showed non available.
-Windows 7
-AVG
I can connect to the wireless router without issue although the wireless connection intermitently drops.
I contacted the Linksys tech through chat and explained the drop I was getting and the last tech I dealt with had me reset my wireless router to factory defaults and change the name of each of the 2.4 GHZ network and the 5 GHZ network so they were not the same which I did.
I also changed security mode to WPA2 Personal and did the same on the 5 GHZ network and set the password on both.
I had been told that the purpose of the 5 GHZ network was so that the lower HZ 2.4 GHZ network which uses things like handheld telephones would not interfere.
This is the link to specifications for the router http://store.linksys.com/Routers/Linksys-EA4500-Dual-Band-N900-Router-with-Gigabit-USB_stcVVproductId145330245VVcatId543809VVviewprod.htm
Problem is I only see the 2.4 GHZ network ... Read more

Answer:toshiba satelite vs 5.0 GHZ network

I see nothing about 5.0 GHz on this Realtek page. What makes you think that adapter supports 5 MHz?

I'm building a computer at work to deal w/ some huge data files (160GB+). I'm using an Areca ARC-1213-4I R SAS/Stata RAID controller card to run a RAID 10 setup w/ 4 Seagate Barracuda SATA III 3TB hard drives. The card has a single SAS port on it, so I also purchased a cable w/ SAS connector on 1 end and 4 SATA connectors on the other. I've installed the latest driver for the controller card. I'm running a fresh installation of Win7 Enterprise 64-bit on an SSD boot drive that connects directly to the motherboard (ie, not connected to the RAID card).

When I access the card's BIOS menu at boot-up, it says that there are no storage devices available. Thru a process of elimination, I know that the drives and the power cable to the drives are all good. So that leaves the SAS-to-SATA cable, a hardware issue w/ the card, or a configuration problem w/ the card.

There are no troubleshooting instructions in the manual, and knowledge base on the Areca website wasn't helpful. Any ideas on how I can troubleshoot this?

Answer:Solved: RAID controller card doesn't recognize hard drives

Turns out that the SAS connector has a double clasp on the end. So it felt like it was pushed in all the way, when in fact it was only pushed part of the way in. It's building the array right now...

Question: Toshiba C655 USB

My usb ports went out a couple weeks ago and am lost at how else to use USB devices without those ports.

Any other solutions to this? I have a ethernet port but this pc is rather basic.

Toshiba c655 s5512

Also I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers under DM, so don't ask about that.

Answer:Toshiba C655 USB

If you connect some device, do you see if it is receiving power? (mice light up, HDDs start vibrating and whirring, or some lights flash)

Can you check the manual that there isn't some key or key combination that disables/enables the ports?

Can you install the latest chipset driver from here (I know it says it is not USB drivers, but the chipset is the component actually controlling USB ports anyway)?

Question: Toshiba C655 USB

I am running Win7 64bit.

So for some reason my USB ports does not read anything except my Nikon SLR - Apple Ipod and phone among other devices have all been successfully run from these ports, but as of a couple days ago - the PC fails to recognize anything except the camera.

I am wondering if this is a firmware issue and where is the USB 2.0 firmware download?
Also when viewed in Device Manager - none of the entries show any exclamation points or failure - I'm totally stumped.

Unfortunately I regularly remove old restore points to save disk space - as of yesterday - I had only 1 restore to choose from, but when attempting to choose that - it would reboot the pc and when it came to the desktop - it would tell me the restore failed and nothing had been changed - said it might have been due to a antivirus program, but I disabled them and tried it again and same thing.

I currently have the latest BIOS 1.30 & legacy USB support is enabled.

This pc is a Toshiba C655 S5512.

Answer:Toshiba C655 USB

So far I have not determined the cause - I performed a clean boot via the msconfig options - doesn't appear to be software, but am totally stumped at why the Nikon is recognized by the pc and nothing else (either port).

Now, as of 2 1/2 days ago - when I plug the Nikon into a port (doesn't matter which one), after attempting to copy files to the pc, it will cut power to the Nikon device.

So it sounds like the ports are on their way out ugh.

Hi I hope someone can help.
A friend downloaded some video of me on a Toshiba MK8032gsx portable hard drive. We checked to make sure the video was there before he gave it to me.
My computer sees it as removable disk F, and says the device is working properly. However, I can't open anything on it. When I click on it in the Computer Window, it scans (the green line appears at the top, but doesn't complete).
I tried searching online for a driver update, but the computer said the driver was up to date.
Any ideas?

I am thinking of upgrading my Toshiba Satellite C655 with a faster CPU and am wondering if anyone can tell me which CPU's are compatible with this laptop? At this time it has a AMD V140 Processor 2.30ghz. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C655D-S50851. Thank you for any information you can give me.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite C655 CPU compatibility

As a general rule with laptops, CPU upgrades don't really give decent increases in performance. Increasing system memory to max allowed and installing a bigger faster hard drive will give you the most "bang for the buck"...

Nothing.  Second installation i installed all the drivers before, with access hotkey and power management driver. After i tryed to update everything by System Updater and after runned the windows updates.Nothing. I tryed different comination of drivers and reinstall all nothing. Bios tell me that is enabled. Device manager says that Network controller and PCI simple comunication controller are missings, the second one should be just the card reader, isnt it? ps. first installation i also updated the bios by system updater. any help?

Answer:Network controller dont recognize, i tryed all.

Hi, I searched for the model type you've posted and it told me the notebook has a bluetooth device. That could be this driver. The missing PCI simple comunication controller can also be Intel Management Engine Interface.I got those files after querying the QuickPath system: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?DocID=HT050904. Let me start off by saying I am not very tech savvy lol

I have been having issues with this laptop lately. When I try to do updates on things such as Adobe and I have to choose between 32 or 64 bit, it recommends 32 bit, but I'm supposedly running on 64..

It takes forever to load pages on the internet, and now I can't even see video content through sites like youtube. I have all these services running that I don't even know what they are or if they should be running, can anyone help me get this laptop running better?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite C655 running horribly help pls

Hi, we need more info on your system, to begin 2 gb, on a 64 bit system is not going to cut it, you do need 4 gb of RAM, so this would be my first consideration.

Very hard to read your screen shots in a meaningful way, go to start search and type cmd, right click on the returned cmd.exe and select "run as administrator" at the prompt copy paste:-

Code:
echo > 0 & tasklist /v >> 0 & net start >> 0 & systeminfo >> 0 & echo >> 0 & notepad 0
press enter, please copy paste the notepad outcome here.

BTW:- from the systeminfo cmd you can delete the windows updates(hotfixes) we don't need them, will reduce the size of the post.

I ran the utility to diagnose the problem and it said it couldn't find anything. I can enter safe mode and eventually my computer will stop beeping and will work normally. Yet, every time from then on my computer will hang on the windows screen and beep before it starts. I 'd like to the solve the problem before my computer completely refuses to turn on. Toshiba Satellite C655 Laptop cannot restore to factory settings with or without OEM Toshiba rescue disc.

In short, I attempted to replace bad hard drive. First, I used spotmau to partition and format the replacement drive. Then, I changes the boot settings to usb dvd. I booted to the OEM Toshiba rescue disk to reinstall windows 7, 64-bit os. I used both a LG Super multi drive to install the rescue disk, and the laptop's actual optical drive/disk tray to no avail. The first of four disks did download. The second disk of four failed to complete the process.

I bought this laptop for a great deal less than a month ago but the return policy was the first of January. On the 8th I spilled a water bottle by accident from doing some school work and not paying attention to how close it was. I know that it is a horrible choice to eat/drink around technology. I quickly turned it off, took out the battery, tipped it upside down to get some water out, then i took the keys off and dried it all underneath them, next i waited about 6 hours and was so worried i turned it back on and everything was working fine until I tried typing =( I knew i should wait longer so i turned it back off and waited 30 hours and it still wasn't typing right i.e press k kj90 comes up. Then I decided to just use a usb keyboard and do the rice thing to the actual keyboard. Now I am still using the usb one which can get annoying but I can live and it has been over 4 days since the accident occurred. Is it possible that it's still drying out some keys work but some of them type other letters that are close by it? Could I buy a similar model keyboard and replace this one? I called Toshiba and they said it wasn't covered and would cost $180 to get it replaced but I don't have that money. I have also checked online for the same keyboard replacement but I didn't find any but similar one's. Thanks

Hello,

I have recently gone to a trip and used wireless internet on the hotel that I stayed at it was all working fine but, once I got home
and connected the ethernet cable to my laptop it does two things; 1) the light that usually flashes when I connect it doesn't flash and 2) It says that the network cable is unplugged. My modem and ethernet cable are both working fine with my PC so I don't think there is anything wrong with them. I have even changed the ethernet cable just to make sure that wasn't the problem.
That's what I'm like 90% sure that there is something wrong with the laptop.

I have been surfing around the web trying to find something that might work and nothing has so far.
I don't want to completely reboot my laptop since I have files that I would like to keep.

Please help me. I don't know what else to do.

Sincerely. Ghha.

I have relatively new Toshiba Satellite C655 and after spilling a (tiny) amount of soft drink on the upper left keyboard, the keyboard quit working completely.

After installing a new keyboard, most keys work except for the P, R, V, T, [, and Space keys. External USB keyboards work flawlessly. I bought another new keyboard and carefully replaced it, but the problem persists. After this, I tried updating the BIOS to no effect.

Is anyone familiar with this, and know how to fix the problem?

Answer:Satellite C655 - new keyboard doesn't work properly

Hi

I guess this issue did not appear in the past before the soft drink has been spilled on the keyboard. Right?

This means that this fluid is the reason for the keyboard problem.
I guess, both new keyboards are OK.

In such case the problem can be the motherboard or you used both keyboards which are not fully compatible. But I guess this isn?t really a problem.

Possibly you motherboard is affected?. :( but this is just an suggestion

I have a C series and it was working fine yesterday. This morning i turn it on and you can hear it starting as usual and then the first screen (Toshiba screen) is visual and then it goes black with a hash mark at the top left corner and stays like it and wont move forward.

Any hints on how to get it working right?

Answer:Satellite C655 - Windows OS doesn’t start anymore

Enter BIOS settings please and check if HDD is listed and recognized properly. If yes set BIOS to default settings and try to start your notebook again.

Is result the same as before?

I have recently installed Adobe Creative Suite 4 (CS4) under Windows 10. Photoshop within the suite doesn't recognize two of my four network printers, which happen to be my best printers. This is purely a Photoshop thing, as Illustrator and InDesign within the suite do recognize these printers. It seems that occasional lack of printer recognition occurs in some other Adobe products as well. The Adobe 'error' message is banal: in essence, you silly user, you need to install a printer before printing anything. Duh.

It goes without saying that all my four networked printers are recognized by all other applications installed under Windows 10.

There may be no solution to this Photoshop CS4 madness, but perhaps there is a fix?

Answer:Photoshop CS4 doesn't recognize two of my network printers under W10

Hi there
works fine for me

Check things like firewalls and AV

I'm using a network HP deskjet -- no probs at all with it. --perhaps re-install the printer again -- could be IP address screwed up / firewall / AV software / DHCP addressing hosed up. Also got a decent A3+ printer (epson) - no probs with that either.

Are your printers wired or wifi into the network - that can make a difference too.

Try also re-installing CS4 again.

I've a weird prob with my Vista Ultimate 32bit. I have a home network with an old XP SP3 32bit machine (which is the proxy server) and Vista 32bit which I use.

Sometimes I just cannot connect to the XP machine machine. "Path not available" error. But I get the ping response in 2ms flat though. I dont understand.

To cure this I sometimes tinker with Media sharing ON OFF and it works then but not always. Most of the time I need to restart the Vista machine to cure the network hiccup?

Any ideas? I use ZoneAlarm Free firewall on both, even after taking down the firewall on both machines I still get the same problem. The only way to cure it is to restart my Vista machine.

Good evening!! Been awhile since I posted. Haven't had to. Got rid of an ugly virus on one of my daughter's Win7 machines. But that isn't why I am here.

My daughter in HI just called me. System is a Toshiba Notebook Satellite L650, bought brand new last week. All was well until yesterday. She couldn't connect to the net with any source, dial-up, DSL, etc. She went into the Device Manager and all of the network sources under Network Adapters have ! next to them. She went in to properties and all of the drivers are installed and working properly.

Now, since I am Win7 challenged I am not sure about my solution (haven't done it yet until I find out if it can be done). In other Win OSes, I would uninstall every one of them, power off, power on and let the OS find and install the drivers. I saw when I install my other daughter's Win7 machine, that Win7 installed everything! I didn't have to do a thing.

My question is: Is my solution right? Will that work?

Yours in long distance teching .

Hello!  My recently purchased Ideapad 100S sees all other networks around me, but does not see my wifi network. It sees my slower wifi network but not the faster one. I've entered in the network as a "recognized network," but it still does not appear on the list of networks I can connect with. I have a different computer that does see and use the network, so I know it's a problem with the Lenovo. I have tried most of the troubleshooting stuff I could find, to no avail. What could be the solution????? Your help is very very appreciated

Answer:Ideapad doesn't recognize wireless network

Hello and welcome,

Is this an 11 inch or 14 inch 100s?  By "slower" and "faster"networks do you mean 2.4GHz and 5GHz?

It looks like the 11 inch 100s doesn't support 5GHz wifi, but the 14 inch does.

My laptop doesn't power on after I do a windows shutdown.

After it completely closes, when I try the power button nothing is happening (neither a led, neither the screen or the vent. it doesn't start)

After I take out the power supply and the battery for one minute and put it back, when I try to power on - it starts.
I changed the RAM memory with good ones, same thing. I cleaned up the laptop and put high quality thermal paste on the processor.

The model is: Toshiba Satellite C655-S5128.
This thing it happens since I cleaned my laptop.
(I mention that I do clean up for laptops everyday, so I know how to do it)

Answer:Satellite C655-S5128 doesn't start - power on problem

The unit doesn?t power up since you cleaned the notebook?
Hmm? these sounds like something went wrong during the cleaning procedure.

I believe you that you have lot of experience in notebook cleaning and you know how to do that but obviously this time you made some mistake? sorry to say this?.

In my opinion the issue is related definitely so some hardware problem? I don?t know who you cleaned the unit and what parts (beside the CPU) have been removed during this procedure but probably one of these parts have been affected or don?t function properly.

Here again since I have the most weird problem ever which I have never seen nor heard of before. I recently upgraded the OS on a friends computer, from Vista to 7. However now I can't seem to get the onboard ethernet adapter to work, it can't be seen in device manager nor anywhere else. I have tried to reset the bios (by removing the cmos battery) and I have also checked that the network adapter is set to 'Enabled'. Also, when I connect the cable to the ethernet port no lights go on, it doesn't give any sort of hope what so ever. The cable is ok, the "modem" is ok, and everything else seems to be in order and yet it doesn't work.

Computer in question:
HP Pavilion 6530sc
Non-default GPU and added 1Gb RAM

Answer:Solved: Computer doesn't recognize the network adapter

Whenever you install a new OS, always take note of the model of core system hardware like GPU, chipset, and ethernet/wifi (there are a few others that aren't as important, but nice to have updated) since those are critical to your computers core functionality.

However, a quick google search of your model yielded me with your PC's system specs. Your PC contains a Realtek RTL8201N ethernet adapter. So far I am unable to find a driver from Realtek itself and the HP driver is not Realtek, but instead nVidia nForce.

So after a bit of searching, I came across this: it seems to me that you have an old chipset from nVidia. I am not completely sure, but I think you have an ION chipset. Try installing this ION chipset driver (64 bit) ==OR== this ION chipset driver (32 bit) and tell me if it works. It should include the necessary component drivers and if it works, it means you have an ION chipset like I suspected.

Here are the specifications for your PC BTW.

When I click on "Devices and Printers" there's a little yellow triangle next to the icon for my computer. After I "apply the fix" (looking online for a driver) I briefly see a message that indicates the system is intalling drivers for devices, but then it says that the driver installation failed. I downloaded the latest drivers for NVIDIA nForce 630i from the NVIDIA site, and installed it, but I still get the "Network controller doesn't have a driver" message. I've tried to update the driver, but it never finds it online. Am I missing something here, like a driver? I'm still trying to fix my sister's laptop (more out of sheer determination at this point). I gave up on trying to fix the black screen problem and on trying to get to her files, and did a full Factory Restore... Vista booted up perfectly after that...and then I tred to get online.

Here's what I know: The wireless adapter is enabled (when I press "F2" a little icon pops up with an antenna with waves coming off of it, so I know it's on). When I run the connection utility, it says "Windows cannot find any networks", but my network is fully operational and I am connected to it on my computer, laptop, cell phone, playstation, and tivo, so I know the signal is working. I ran a diagnostic on the adapter and it passed everything, so from that I can see that the computer recognizes it and it is functioning. I also tried to update the driver but still had no luck.

Any other ideas? I'm still floating with the idea of wiping vista and using my OEM CD to install XP, but I want to make sure the thing is functioning properly first. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Answer:Dell laptop w/ Vista doesn't recognize wireless network

Hi liguy,

OK, on the laptop:

1. In Network and Sharing Center, is Network Discovery turned on?

2. In Manage Network Connections, are there any other connections shown besides your wireless? Any with a red X; if so, disable it.

3. If the above is all OK, open a command window (Start, Run, type Cmd in Open: Box and click OK). In the command window type ipconfig /all (space between g and /, no space after /), right click on window, click on select all, right click on window icon at top left, select edit > copy, and paste result in your reply.

Please let us know one way or another.

I have 3 computers on a network over a linksys WRT54G router. A netbook running XP, an HP laptop running Vista Home Premium SP2, and a MAC running OS 10.5.8. All 3 show on all computer network locations and I can access files between each of them EXCEPT the HP Laptop under VISTA to the MAC. For that connection, VISTA wants a user name and password and I enter the same (and only user) name that I have on the MAC and I get the message that Windows cannot find that machine and asks me to check the user name/password. I use that same user/password combo when accessing the MAC from the XP Netbook, it works fine. What can I do in VISTA to get to the MAC. I know that the user name/password I am using is the only one that exists on the MAC. I also have 2 printers attached and they both work fine on all 3 computers.

A relative asked me to help diagnose her G505 (Kabini A6-5200 model) which no longer connects to wireless networks and no longer recognizes cards. She needs it fixed before she flies out again in a couple days. She attributes the appearance of these problems to her laptop getting bumped during the airport security process. Since the laptop was off and has a SSD and the bump was slight, I wouldn't have thought it possible it could receive any kind of damage. But she had left a card in the card reader-- and unfortunately on this model SD cards stick out quite a bit when fully inserted, which seems to me like a poor design-- so it's conceivable that could have bent something there. The wireless adapter recognizes the existence of networks just fine -- inSSIDer shows high, consistent signal strength, everything seems normal, but when I ask it connect it tries for a very long time and then gives up with "Can't connect to this network." All of the Windows network automatic troubleshooters are entirely useless. This is the same for multiple wifi networks all of which work fine for other devices. I've tried everything up to removing and reinstalling the mini-PCIe network card, with no change. (I haven't tried replacing the card- no place locally that I know of that sells those, though they're cheap enough online.) The card reader is still properly recognized by Windows, but nothing happens when inserting a card. Getting at that would AFAIK involve basically a full disa... Read more

Hi there,

I cannot load the battery and the notebook doesn't run on AC power.
The power supply is already checked and is ok.

Can that be a faul battery?
And why the notebook doesn't run without it?

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

Answer:Battery doesn't charge and Satelite A75 doesn't run on AC power

Hi

Due to the fact that yours A75 Satellite does not run with a connected AC adaptor and with the connected battery, I presume there must be a serious hardware issue.
From my personal knowledge there could be something wrong with the power supply electronic.

In my opinion you will be not able to solve this problem without the ASP help.
Therefore I would recommend to make a call to the ASP technician and to ask for the details and further handling.
If the warranty is valid, then everything should be done for free?

I hope you can clear this issue? good luck

Hi, I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Profressional 64-bit on my 2010 Thinkpad X201. I've used Windows Update and Lenovo System Update to download/install all critical/optional/recommended updates. Still, my computer is not recognizing wireless networks (I'm currently hardwired via ethernet cable). Wondering if it has anything to do with the Network Controller. In device manager, it has a yellow exclamation mark. I've tried right-clicking and updating driver, with no success. Then got the idea to uninstall it. I'm having a tough time finding a network controller driver online. When I search for it, I see a bunch of 3rd party driver tools that scan and update drivers on your system. Surely there's a better/safer way to get this one Network Controller fixed? Thanks so much for any help.

Please provide me the MTM (Machine Type Model) of the system which will be at the bottom of the laptop. Do not provide the system serial number in the forum, we require only the MTM number. So that I can provide the exact driver for your model.

This utility must be installed at first and in my opinion it should be responsible for the SM bus controller.
You should also check the installation instruction on the download area.

Answer:toshiba satelite a200

Welcome to TSG!!

I see models of the a200 with up to 2.0 GHz processors on Toshiba's Web site. It would seem yours would support at least that. None of the documentation I saw had any reference to upgrading the CPU. I'm sure they don't support end users doing that. You'd be on your own with it. Not sure where the CPU is. Some are extremely accessible. Others require moderate disassembly. How comfortable are you inside a laptop?

Little help if possible, i recently came to suspect moisture in the keyboard of my Toshiba Satelite laptop. Upon booting the keystrokes are all mixed up making it impossible to log into the O/S. The symbols outputted by each key are random, some being normal, some giving no response at all and some ouputting very unusual symbols. Has anyone encountered anything similiar to this and is it possible to remedy this by taking the keyboard apart and cleaning it in it's individual pieces.
If so how do you remove the keyboard?

Cheers,
Cian

Answer:Toshiba satelite keyboard

If this is a moisture problem (and it certainly seems so), you will be best off just replacing the keyboard. Most new keyboard circuitry is generally laid out on a plastic-type film which the keystrokes come down on to make connection. Once this is shorted by moisture, all is generally lost for it. I've tried repairing this on a Microsoft Natural keyboard with just wasted time.

As far as getting it off, that's a little different for most laptops. There's a combinations of screws (usually hidden by some type of cover) along with some gentle prying on the edges (be very careful with this). If you're not comfortable with this I'd recommend taking it to a professional.

Hope this helps a little.

Hi all,

This is my first post on here so apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I am having great difficulty with factory resetting my Toshiba Satelite laptop.

I have searched and searched online on how to perform this factory reset and although many have suggested holding the 0 key whilst booting up or the F8 key, neither of these seem to work.

When attempting to turn on my laptop whilst pressing either of these keys, I hear loud beeping and although I continue to hold either the 0 key or F8 button, it never proceeds to the boot up menu.

Can anyone on this forum please shed some light on what I appear to be doing wrong?

As Windows 10 has upgraded on my laptop I felt it would be a good start to back up my data and have a fresh out of the box laptop.

I look forward to any suggestions you may have!

Thanks,
Gary

Thanks,
Gary

If the manufacturer set up your PC to run from a compressed Windows image file (also known as Windows image file boot or WIMBoot) and included the option to restore factory settings, that option will no longer be available after you upgrade to Windows 10.

I have the above said laptop, which has a good deal of ram right now(im not sitting at it right now so im not sure how much). How far could you upgrade such a computer and could it be done with ddr-sdram.

But this all has me interested because i wasnt aware you could modify your laptop besides maybe a drive change. So what else can you do to a laptop like mine?

Answer:toshiba satelite ram upgrade

Please specify which model of Satellite (e.g. M30, P30) you have, there are many of them.

I bought a second-hand Toshiba laptop, so decided it would be a good idea to format the C drive and re-load Windows 98se.It now doesn't run properly (always crashing and asking for the MS CD etc) and someone said it was because Toshiba have some special BIOS software which would have been deleted during the format process. My local computer shop tells me they can't do it and to go direct to Toshiba. Have gone on Toshiba website, downloaded correct BIOS, but laptop doesn't like it.What now??

Answer:Toshiba Satelite 4090 CDS

BIOS firmware (not software) is stored on the motherboard's CMOS chip and controls the low-level hardware settings and communication. It is what enables a PC to start up in the first place. It is not, in any way, stored on a hard-disk and cannot be deleted by formatting a hard-disk. You may hear or read references to a tattoo, but that works in an entirely different way, was not used at the time of Win98 and would not create this behaviour anyway.I would suggest that you first atempt another clean installation of Win98, with all the correct device drivers readily to hand, and see how it goes.

Answer:toshiba satelite reinstall problem

Try to reinstall from the recovery partition with this procedure:

1. Make sure the computer is turned off.
2. Press and hold the 0 (zero) key on your keyboard while powering on the computer. When the computer powers on, the Toshiba Recovery Wizard screen displays.
3. Select one of the options, and then click Next. The options are: Recovery of Factory Default Software (recommended) or Erase the hard disk.

Turned on and a blue screen popped up saying low memory, gathering info and will auto restart. Now it is on the main screen but it's frozen. I can't swipe from left (no cursor), use arrows and when I remove battery and adapter, hold down zero, hold down start button, etc. It brings me right back to the same screen and same situation.

i have a toshiba satelite a105 laptop that i bought from a friend of mine. problem is that it will not boot. when i try to boot from cd to reinstall operating system (has a virus that causes it to go crazy) and even to the hard drive i get message
pxe-e61: media test failure, check cable
pxe-m0f: existing intel boot agent.
what the heck is going on and how can i fix it?

Answer:Toshiba satelite a105 will not boot

It sounds as if the BIOS is trying to boot from the network card. You will have to enter the bios and change the order of the boot. Boot from CD should be listed first.

I have a Toshiba satellite A305-S6825 that has quit working. I get a blue screen that briefly shows this message.
???STOP: 0X0000008E (0XC0000005,0X83206487, 0X8CFFF754, OXOOOOOOOO)
*** ataport.sys ? address 83206487 base at 83200000, Datestamp 4ce788e8

I have tried to start in safe mode but it restarts and tries to go into the desktop then goes to blue screen.

I have tried to check out what is happening and have found that it may be a memory problem but am not sure how to find out for sure.

I have considered using the restore disc but am afraid that I might make things worse if it is a memory problem.

thanks

I was watching a movie and had a couple of windows open at the same time. My computer started freezing and I thought the processors were being over used or something, I decided to quit the other windows. I also then kept refreshing the desktop but made it even worse. My icons weren't showing up and everything was just frozen, so I pressed the on button and held it til it turned off.
When I tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't go pass the windows start up page. I turned it off again and went to the windows recovery option but it would just show a black screen and a mouse in the middle. I went on forums and tried doing what others have suggested and it's still isnt working. I need help, I have important files in my computer and I can't afford to lose them.

Hi Readers,

Just recently found out about these new drivers mostly issued in Dec 2007. I purchased a Satelite Pro A200 in Nov , there 32 + BIOS updates for this laptop

I am going abroad in fortnight with the laptop. Do you think its really necessary to be installing all these new drivers before i go away?

I have spent some time uninstalling the trial apps. which are now expired. Installed new firewall ZA & AV Avast. , plus Office 2003

Comment s will be taken and review the status etc.

Regards deejaydee

Answer:Satelite Pro A200: Do I need all the Toshiba Drivers

I have Satellite A200 and I have updated Value Added Package only. Other stuff must not be updated.

With new version flash cards run much faster and you can use them much better than before. If you want to do the same download latest version, remove preinstalled from the system and at least install latest version.

Bye

I use this computer for around 2 years already. but, from 4 months ago, it started to show strange behavior.
For example if I restart it, I have to wait for 5 - 10 minutes after it shut down to boot again.

It's still looking good. However, it was solved using a cooler. If the cooler is plugged, it can be restarted immediately.

However, the problem getting worser now. I can't boot my computer without cooler plugged into the laptop. Anyone know how to solve this?
Thanks....

I have a major problem. My Toshiba Satelite 1900, WINXP Home edtn,(not SP2 updated) P4,2.0Ghz, 256mb RAM, won't boot up.I was running Norton Sys works - speeddisk to defrag the HD. The screen was blank because the powersetting I have switchs it off after 10mins of no input. My son passed the laptop with the (lid)open as he called it, and thought I forgot to close it as the screen was blank, and of course the laptop shut down. When I reopened the (lid) screen again it would not display and the system had no POST beeps . I tried to boot from a recovery floppy - no joy - I then tried to boot from a WINXP boot CD - again no joy. A friend gave a lend of his SPINRITE v6.0 disc to boot from as he says it has its own O/S - again not joy. The battery and power adapters are all ok we tested them with a multi-meter.One further note is that I have GOBACK v3 installed but due to the fact the laptop wont boot I cannot recover the last good point. I also believe that as I was running a defrag program when this accident occured the restore points will be cleared. At this point I am stumped. I have some work on the laptop (Excel Files) that I need to access. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. My last resort after this forum is to go to PCWorld clinic which I have never resorted in the past. The laptop was bought in PCWorld and I never had a problem with it.

Hi!.

I have a Toshiba Satelite L30-134 laptop, but i didn't get a CD to this. I downloaded drivers from the side but it couldn't operate. Please help me!
Thx!

Answer:Where can I download Toshiba Satelite L30-134 dirvers?

Your posting is pretty confusing so here some facts for you:

Satellite L30-134 is obviously delivered with Windows XP Home operating system.
Notebook is delivered with two medias: recovery media and Additional Software CD.

All drivers, tools and utilities for this notebook model you can find on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
There you can find all this for WXP and Vista.

I don't know what you do but if you use own operating system installation please follow the installations order listed in ?Installations Instructions? document.

For WXP installation please use WXP SP2 installations CD only.

I have been unable to use my Toshiba Satelite Pro M10 using WiFi in my kitchen. I presumed it was the walls between the Wireless router and the kitchen, however, a friend on mine managed to get a strong signal with his HP laptop.

I then tried a PCMCIA WiFi card in my laptop (assuming the power of the built-in WiFi might be less effective than another card). This card was weaker than the built-in WiFi.

I presume the problem is with the power supplied by the machine (running a Centrino processor). Does anyone have any knowlege on this?

All views/advice highly appreciated.

I have a Toshiba satelite C655-S5514 that it keyboard is not responding. At first i thought maybe it was the keyboard that is bad, but when i connected an external usb keyboard it behaved the same. when i press the caps-lock and num-lock keys, their signal light comes but none of the keys are responding.

I don't know whether it is a configuration or software problems. Please help me.

Try tapping F8 after the Toshiba screen (or POST info screen if you turned that off). You should get a menu, if so try Safe Mode and let us know if the keyboard works when that desktop shows up.
