Preferred Solution: Screen Freezes. Then Blares Static as loud as possible. No blue scree.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi kcollins5, Welcome to the HP Community, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see that you are getting a blue screen or as it is known blue screen of death (BSOD). What error message goes along with the BSOD? That will help determine the cause of the error. Here is detailed article on Everything You Need to Know about BSODs. One of the potential solutions is to reinstall drivers because this happened during a video here is the Intel High-Definition Graphics driver and Intel High-Definition Audio driver. Was this a DVD or CD you were playing the video from or were you streaming it online? Thank you,

Hi. My Toshiba laptop has been randomly crashing/freezing with colorful static on the monitor and loud static noise from the speakers (usually if I'm on youtube). This has been happening on and off for months. Sometimes it just crashes to a black screen and restarts but often it does the dramatic crashing. I don't have a good connection to go downloading troubleshooting stuff and I have no idea if its the battery, the video card, a virus (because rarely on boot-up the microsoft security essentials is turned off or malwarebytes has an error about root-kits that doesn't come up again when its restarted), or what. I don't know what to google to even start finding answers to this problem and I need help.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX280

The specs are 3.0 Ghz P4 processor

512mb DDR3200 Ram

dvd-r drive

floppy

Everytime i turn on the computer now it loads up windows and after about 15 seconds into windows the PC completely freezes and the fan starts blaring.

i tryed disconnecting the dvd drive and the floppy drive from the power to limit the use of power but it seems as though its not a power supply problem. I really dont know how to check and see if the contact between the heatsink and the processor is good or not. I ran Hirens bootdisk and tested the components of the PC and they seem to work fine all but when i test Memory it tests the first test(inversion) 100% on bank 1 and then doesnt move.
could it be that my ram is bad after 1 1/2 years of use? Please give me suggestions. Thank you for your time and help.

I'm not sure if this is related or not but I had my brother-in-law put in another hard drive and I had updated my laptop to Windows 10 but both of those changes did not automatically make the problem start. Every time I power up my laptop and windows starts once I get to the sign on screen and there is a background wallpaper which I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it but it freezes. Sometimes it takes me 25 times to shut it down you know press the button hard hard boot several times and then it finally works. And then sometimes I'll get it to work and then all the sudden I hear this click and it shuts my laptop off again. What is going on? do you know is there some way I can bypass to find out? It is on the left...the loud humming and I wonder if it's the fan.

Answer:Loud hum sign on screen then freezes

I had my brother-in-law put in another hard drive and I had updated my laptop to Windows 10Click to expand...

What's the brand name and model name and complete model number of that laptop?

When you brother replaced the hard drive in that laptop, did it already contain Windows 10?
sometimes I'll get it to work and then all the sudden I hear this click and it shuts my laptop off againClick to expand...

It sounds like that hard drive is failing.

I have had my P300 for less than a month and two weeks ago it started with this problem. The problem being that the screen will go to static and then freeze. I am unable to do anything other than do a hard shut down. I have also noticed the touchpad scroll function often doesn't work.

I am loathe to send the notebook away as it took me 6 months of arguing with Harvey Norman to get this one as a replacement for an Acer that had issues with the hinges and screen coming apart (amongst other things).

I have only installed the Student version of Microsoft office and Paint Shop Pro X2 (which was installed after the problem started) and I use Firefox as my browser. Vista is the operating system.

If anyone could offer any suggestions (in novice terms) I would greatly appreciate it.

Answer:Satellite P300 - screen goes to static and freezes

Is the laptop still under warranty? I would send it to an ASP for warranty repair.

Firstly update the BIOS and Display Driver, then I would backup the data and run Recovery to rule out a software problem

So i listen to music on itunes and I put it on max volume, then like 20 min of me listening to music it suddenly freezes and makes a LOOOOOOOOUD sound that I can't exactly describe, its like a horn sound?? Well anyway's its very loud and the laptop gets frozen so there isn't anything I can do except press the off button to restart my laptop. Whats wrong with it? I barely got my laptop 4 months ago! And this problem only happens when I'm listening to music please help? :]]

Also I have enough ram because I barely install anything and I don't have many files like music and pictures saved on my laptop either :)

Answer:Whenever I play loud music, my laptop freezes and makes a LOUD sound??

Your computer may be overheating. Blow all the fans out with a can of compressed air. Consider a laptop cooler.
Does this happen if you listen to music through headphones?

So this problem has been going on for awhile. Thought completing a system upgrade I had been planning would do the trick but of course not. I can play games from anywhere from 5-15 minutes before my computer completely locks up. Virtually any game, I've tried them all: BF3, WoW, Far Cry 3, MW3, etc. Black (sometimes green) screen, loud sound coming from the speakers as if it is frozen on a gunshot repeating, and also if you watch the video card it ceasing functioning.

It should be noted that this is the second video card this has happened on, first on an old 5750 and now on my brand new 7850, so I know it's not the cards. I just installed Windows 8 along with a new SSD drive, so in the last 24 hours I have completely wiped my old system, started up good as new again with a new OS, and still this keeps happening. All drivers have been downloaded from the developers for video card, motherboard, etc. The only thing I remotely have to go on is when I view my event history or whatever its called. Being that my OS, HD, and SSD are brand new and fresh, the only critical error listed is from when the game crashed, below:

Hi all,

Been having some problems with my PC since it was first put together 6 months back, but recently it has become an almost recurring problem.

During games the system will often freeze up. This is accompanied with a series of 'static' lines dancing across the screen and the souns cutting out to a static whine. Usually, the screen goes black, then comes back on, although there is no longer any sounds. Sometimes it never recovers and has to be rebooted.

When it happens seems to be random. League of Legebds only had it happen when the game was really busy on screen. However Diablo 3 (Beta) did it from an options menu, and Super Monday Night Combat did it 4 seconds into game start. League has stopped doing it since I turned the graphics settings lower, butreally based on the spec below it shouldnt have any problem running at max settings.

My PC doesn't have a sound card - it is all done through the motherboard. I nearly always have last.fm (flash based music website) running in the background. My best guess is either there's a sound conflict, or, since the graphics card appears to reboot and League stopped doing it after fiddling with the graphics, there's a fault at the graphics card end.

The site I followed for building the PC did suggest adding a soundcard to prevent a conflict, maybe this is the end result of that?

I managed to get a quick video of the 'static' effect I mentioned when playing LoL. In this case, it never recovered.... Read more

I left my computer on overnight, and when I just returned to it I discovered that it had shut down, and when I started it up, I was informed that Windows had just recovered from an unexpected shut down. I'm sorry I don't have much more info, as I wasn't there when it happened. Though I guess I should mention that the other night, even though I was not doing anything on my computer, a fan was working really hard (loudly), so I just shut it the PC down. I'm thinking it could be overheating, but it is currently quite cold where I am, so it doesn't really make much sense. I'd love if you could help. Here's the details of the error - if it's at all helpful:

Answer:Solved: Blue Screen and shut down while away from computer, sometimes a loud fan

Check your event longs in Event Viewer around the time the shutdowns started to occur.for any critical errors. That should be your first starting point. You can also cross reference the reliability monitor to see if there were any changes around the time that the computer started shutting down that may have caused the issue.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

ABout 30 minutes ago, most of the white on my screen has been placed by blue and any black has red static on it. I can't think of anything that I could've done to have broken i.e. haven't dropped it, smashed it, spilt anything on it etc. I've just been using it normally either on a desk, my lap, in bed and so on. I've tried a system restore because I installed some MS updates recently but that hasn't done anything.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Question: Blue Scree Bug

Ok. Recently I downloaded a file that was laced with trojans. I managed to get rid of most of them (I think.) but while I was blocking the trojans with my security software, the command window popped up (command window= black screen with white letters, basis of all computer systems.) Not sure if anyone can help with this but recently, as in sometime in the last few days, my HTPC audio has gone spastic.
When trying to watch live tv or previously recorded tv (still in the media centre tv format) there is really load static over the top of the audio stream. When I say loud I mean take those warehouse clearance ads (Mr bankrupt for example) and multiply by 100. It has got to be the maximum audio output and I thought it was going to kill the tv speakers!
Watching video in any other form (AVI, MKV, h264, mpg) is fine and all other audio I have used (mostly mp3 or ogg) seems to work too.
PC info below;

CPU ? 3Ghtz Athlon 64 X2 6000+
MOBO ? Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H
RAM ? 4 GB DDR2 RAM
TV Tuner ? Compro E750F
OS ? Windows 7 (Media Centre 7)
Has anyone encountered this before or have suggestions?

Answer:Loud static on HTPC tv

just a short idea: Did you recently change any cables? It sure sounds like defective/insufficient shielding of some sort.

Question: loud static noise!

My computer is constantly making a loud static/rushing/electronic interference noise, all the time apart from when I play a CD using the Windows CD player - but if I try and play a CD using Windows Media Player I still get the noise, and the CD volume is so quiet you cannot hear it over the interference!

Any suggestions? I have a USB broadband modem and the problem started shortly after I installed this. I only have integral sound that came with the motherboard, I don't have a soundcard.

Any help welcome!

When I start up my computer, my background is changed from the picture I used to have to just a plain blue screen. When I researched the blue screen on MajorGeeks.com, I found out that this is not necessarily a virus but it is almost a "joke" that can be pulled on anyone. It gave directions on how to give this blue screen to your friends, and when I searched the System32 folder in my computer, I found the executable file called ntoskrnl.exe, and I am wondering how I can get rid of it and get the blue screen to go away.

Also, while the blue screen is on my computer, my computer will not allow me to change the background back to a picuture, or anything else for that matter. I need help please. And if it makes any difference, my computer runs off of Vista.

This problem just started about 20 minutes ago, for no reason at all my laptop started making this noise. At first it was intermitten static, almost like static beeping, but then it became steady. I restarted my laptop, but it started up again once I turned it back on. I also heard it through my headphones but I unplugged them and now it's just from the speakers again. It starts as soon as I play audio, and stops about 30 seconds after I stop playing audio. I don't know what to do.

Hi everyone, I hope i'm posting in the right place. I joined this forum because i need some help. Less then a week ago i purchased a new sony laptop model number sve151a11w. My problem is almost every time i play a game (i only have dawn of war 2 + expansions and minecraft at the moment) after a couple of minutes of playing there will be a loud static sound from the speakers then the computer will freeze, the only way to unfreeze it is to hold down the power button until it shuts down. Ctrl + Alt + Delete doesn't work, the windows button doesn't work and i'm starting to get worried about shutting my computer off like this all the time.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers, Ben.

At first it started as soon as I played any audio, and would stop about 30 seconds after I stopped playing the audio. Now it starts as soon as I start up my laptop. I tried updating my Realtek driver, and my graphics driver (amd radeon hd 8400/R3 Series) but as soon as I did my laptop wouldn't turn on at all. I had to completely reset it from the menu you get when you press esc while booting it up. While that did allow me to use my laptop again, the static noise is still there.

I would really appreciate anyone with any idea how to fix this.

Okay so I have installed WIndows 7 x64. After having HUGE Issues getting the proper sound drivers I had to resort to a fix that someone made for windows 7 and the soundblaster's (x-fi). When I'm either on skype or ventrilo I hear LOUD static when other people have their microphones queued (on skype this is all the time, ventrilo is hotkeyed) Even if their microphone is physically muted, when they queue their microphone i hear LOUD static. I have no other audio issues but I cannot solve this and its becoming frustrating.

The weird thing.. is that in games like Heroes of Newerth or Counterstrike Source I hear no static when people queue their microphones.

Any ideas :( ?

Answer:Windows 7. Loud Static on VOIPS. not in CSS?

Anyone? I managed to fix this error last night by installing the drivers on the creative site in combination with Daniel K's fix. the static was gone. I log on today and it's back. When someone has their mic muted I hear static, and when we're currently in a conversation i hear the static, the only thing that subdues it is when we begin to speak, it dissapears.

Also with my OWN mic now, when I hit "listen to this device" and unplug my mic attachment I hear the same static.

Opps sorry. I am using windows VISTA not XP......
Hi, i am a total newb when it comes to dealing with computer failures.
recently my computer keeps crashing and getting blue screen of death( i probably need to check on my rams)
However, there was this time when my comp restarts after dumping from the blue screen of death. I see that most of my desktop files are gone and i am directed to the fresh user welcome page with slide bars etc.
When i check my hard drive i see that my files in my C drive are still there. and i see under computer/c/users/ 4 files.
1 adminstrator 2, kq(my old desktop files are there) 3.kq-kq(pc) ( the new user that i think i am on) 4.public.

I wonder how i could go back to my old user's config with all my desktop files all back when the windows starts.
Help would be much appreciated, thank you for reading.

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING QUOTE WAS COPIED FROM ANOTHER THREAD

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

i have a simular problem with 2 pc's running different boards, 1 matsonic and 1 asus, except mine is atapi.sys, otherwise the bluescreen is identical to this. the pc's were spontaniously restarting, so i disabled the auto restasrt and got this bluescreen. reinstalling windows doesnt help. it seems that if i install windows and dont update, it runs fine, as soon as i install the 1rst or second update it starts doing it. it doesnt matter if im sut\rfin the web or just letting it run with no programs running, it does it. what is the problem??????

Answer:a blue scree error message

You never mentioned whether you tried the CHKDSK /F. While researching your problem this is what I found according to www.aumha.org.

0x00000024: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM
(Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article, or see Windows 2000 Professional Resource Kit, p. 1543.)
A problem occurred within NTFS.SYS, the driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system drives. There may be a physical problem with the disk, or an Interrupt Request Packet (IRP) may be corrupted. Other common causes include heavy hard drive fragmentation, heavy file I/O, problems with some types of drive-mirroring software, or some antivirus software. I suggest running ChkDsk or ScanDisk as a first step; then disable all file system filters such as virus scanners, firewall software, or backup utilities. Check the file properties of NTFS.SYS to ensure it matches the current OS or SP version. Update all disk, tape backup, CD-ROM, or removable device drivers to the most current versions.

Let us know how things turn out for you.

Hi,

I currently bought the Tt eSports Shock One headset:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826254008

The microphone emits a loud feedback. Using a program like mumble, the noise suppression feature allows the buzzing to be removed.

I am looking for driver/software that would allow me to put noise supression on the mic at a Windows 7 level, rather than a program level.

Thank you for your help.

Please move this to another subforum if this is the wrong place.

Answer:M30-304 blue scree shutdown and associted issues

Hi

If someone wrote ?until now ?? it is not easy to say why the problem occurs. Who knows what did you done last time with the unit?

Did you try to roll back the operating system to earlier time?
What you mean with recovered? Did you preinstall the unit using Toshiba recovery media? If you think that this is caused by WLAN card remove it from device manager and restart the unit.

I have found many different forums with similar theme but I have no found any concrete solution.

I have been experiencing an occasional Blue Screen crash for quite some time now, although it has recently become more frequent. The symptoms for the crash are extremely consistent: - The keyboard stops responding to any commands. (The background lighting stays on, but any button presses are not registered.) - On many occasions, the USB ports lose power and any devices connected to them will disconnect. Aside from these issues, the computer appears to behave normally and can be used for even several minutes before the Blue Screen occurs. - I have attempted to start up the Lenovo solutions center and perform a hardware scan when it is in this state, but the Blue Screen always occurs quickly after the program is loaded. - Restarting the computer, plugging and unplugging the adapter have no effect. In order to resolve the issue, I must hold the power button down and force shut down, at which point the computer starts up normally and keyboard/USB ports work as if nothing happened. There seem to be a large number of related topics, but I am not seeing any that have a solution posted that works. I have updated Windows 10, all my drivers are up to date, and the bios is updated. - Nikita

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

Hi,
I've built a gaming PC last month and everything was fine until a few days passed and my PC started crashing frequently.
Here's a picture of the blue screen I get every couple of hours :

I already ran the "Windows Memory Diagnostic" tool and it detected a memory problem and it said that I should "contact the manufacturer"

Here the details about my PC :

OS : "Windows 7 Ultimate"
Motherboard : "Gigabyte G1 Gaming GA-Z170-Gaming K3"
CPU : "Intel Core I5 6600K"
8GB of RAM (One stick of 8GB)
An SSD for Windows 7 + 1 tera HDD
GPU : "Nvidia geforce gtx 1070"

I installed all the updates for Windows 7 and I also updated all the drivers with the software "Driver Booster 7"

Should I update to Windows 10 ?
Or maybe it's my motherboard that is defective ? I only put one stick of RAM on my motherboard because it crashes when I put both of them...

Do you guys have any idea what I could do ?
Thanks

Answer:I've built a PC but it crashes every 1-2 hour (blue scree)

You have not included the most important part; the exact pw supply you have installed.
When you list parts, do not list 8gig of ram. Post the exact brand and model# Do that for ALL of your parts.

turned on computer and it went to blue boot screen- won't do anything. Won't load boot menu or set up menu- won't to system recovery or diagnostics- won't so ANYTHING- was working fine the previous day- windows vista- HP pavillion desktop.

Answer:can't get computer to go past blue boot scree

i have had this problem before and the best thing to do usually is to reformat thedrive and reinstall vista otherwise locating the error of the blue screen can be quite frustrating and time consuming, maybe pluggin the hdd in a desktop pc and using tools to recover your data and then reinstalling vista would be a better option

I recently got new headphones (Bose QuietComfort3) and they work fine with an ipod and one of my computers. However, with my other computer, I get a loud, constant static noise coming out of them. The noise starts around half-way through booting up Windows and doesn't stop until the computer shuts off. My old headphones work fine with the computer (they are very cheap headphones though) and my speakers work fine. These new headphones also play sounds fine, but the static sound drowns everything out. My soundcard is a SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit.

Things I've tried:
1. Updating the soundcard drivers.
2. Disabling the soundcard.
3. Making sure there were no loose connections in my case.
4. Cleaned out my case.

Thanks for any help.

It seems this driver, Driver Reference Table - SaiMini.sys, caused problems with driver verifier.
I'm not sure what it is related to, but I would suggest to update the software/drivers or remove the related things.

Im trying to play a video in Windows media player but with any video all i hear is a really loud static noise, ive tried playing the exact same files in Windows movie maker and the sound works just fine so i know the files are ok.
Ive also tried playing them in DivX and i'm getting the exact same ear popping static noise so the only thing that seems to be able to play them with the correct audio is Movie Maker.
The video file is .AVI but ive also tried .MKV with the exact same results, i know my Windows media player used to work fine so i have no clue whats messed up, Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey everyone, I seem to have a recurring problem that I just can't puzzle out on my
own and need some help here.

A few months ago I had to replace my power supply unit, and at the same time decided to
upgrade my RAM and OS (moving from Windows Vista to Win 7).
Before I was running on 1 gig of DDR2 PC2-5300 667 MHz. I updated it to PNY 4 gigs
(also DDR2 PC2-5300). Computer kept restarting so I brought it down to 2 gigs - things
worked ok for a little while and then I started to have similar problems again. My PC
continually restarts itself randomly, Displays the Blue Screen after an hour or so of
operation and constantly freezes on the starting Windows 7 logo screen.
I have absolutely no clue where these issues could be coming from. All of the RAM seems
to be accurate spec wise and I don't believe the Power Supply to be at fault. Also, this is more recently, whenever I try to sync up my iPod with iTuens, my system also decides to restart itself randomly during the sync. Any help
on the issue would be GREATLY appreciated.

Below are additional PC specs:

- OS Windows 7 ultimate 32bit
- CPU, Intel Core 2 - (2) of them at 2.13 GHz
- 2 Gigs PNY RAM
- (any additional specs needed - please let me know!)

I'm out of ideas here; any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I seem to encounter SO many problems with my Ideapad U310 - which is about 6 months old. My laptop's been getting the blue screen of death a LOT these days - the error number seems to be different most of these times so I can't seem to figure out what's wrong. It's also been freezing a lot, so the only thing I can do is a hard reboot. I also have a horizontal line of bright blue pixels about an inch from the bottom of my screen, is a replacement of the screen the only thing I can do? If anyone has any clue as to what I should do, PLEASE help! I'm starting work soon and I can't afford to lose precious documents because I get BSOD'd everyday!!  Best, Ipsh

From the Blue Screens, check for and post any minidumps by going to C:\windows\minidump. Select all the .dmp files and right-click sending the files to a compressed(zipped)folder. Upload the folder as a file here

I re-installed Win 7 Pro 32 bit from a USB device (I have the product key) after being unable to prevent further BSOD occurrences. User errors were the cause of the failed first 2 attempts of the re-install, but the third time proved to be a charm. No more blue screens, but ...

1) My CPU now sounds like a jet as it roars down the runway. This especially while playing games on FB with Chrome as my browser.

2) After the re-install there were more than 150 updates. Normal? I installed the IMPORTANT ones -- there were 102. (BTW, post re-install I did Updates first and then Drivers. Hope that was correct.)

3) There is a crackling noise emanating from the built-in speakers, even when muted. The static cannot be heard when the head phones are used. The noise is still present, but only the expected audio comes thorough the wires. Also, I don't recognize the sound driver. I am pretty sure it's not the same, but not certain. Can't confirm either way as I erased the backups. Sorry about that.

4) When I ran sfc /scan now, it took forever and the marathon yielded many, many corrupt files. Some files were reparable and others not. Some of the errant files were Chinese Dictionary files. It surprised me, too. Unfortunately I do not have that log.

I really need some help with this. I am going on 24 hours with no sleep and can't see myself soundly sleeping until this is solved. I have no idea how to solve it. Another re-install?

I should mention that the hard-drive capa... Read more

So I recently upgraded my psu, GPU, and cpu on my rig, triple checked all compatibility for this and ensured that my motherboards bios was upgraded as I hadn't upgraded that.
Keep receiving random restarts (at the oddest moments see below).
Kernel power error/reboots
Probably caused my AuthenticAMD (windows debugger)
Weird parts are, I can play assassins creed unity at the ultra graphics setting with no delay no error and it will not crash out at all. However on the desktop it will crash randomly (no specific tasks) and it will always crash out when playing mount and blade Viking conquest within 10 mins or less.
Specs are since upgrade (will be more detailed later)
Motherboard - M5A78L-M/usb3 (upgraded bios to version 2001)
Cpu - amd fx 8350
GPU - asus radeon r9 290 dc2oc
Psu - Evga 600b 80+ (also troubleshot with corsair psu 650w)
Cpu cooler - Evo hyper 212 with just one fan and an exhaust for more cool and hot hair relief on chasis.
Ram 16gb ddr3
Win 7 64x home basic
DVD/cd rewritable standard sata

Like I've said I've tried the old hardware one by one same error repeating.
Troubleshooting -
Tested each hardware with memtest86, furmark, cpu stability, occt etc. Works fine. Only crashed on cpu stability once.
Tested with different psu/cpu/GPU same again.
Heat is fine GPU ranges from 50-68 Celsius (depending on game) and cpu idle is 28-30 and 40-50 during games (Celsius). GPU idle is 40 normally. Used with speed fan and afterburner.

Sometimes my laptop shuts down - sometimes there is a blue screen error message before, other times it just shuts down without one.

Hi there, I'm brand new to this forum board, and pretty much forum boards in general. I finally just built my own computer with little knowledge on how to do so, but it all successfully came together, that is, until I started getting blue screens.

They seem to only happen when I'm gaming. I also wanted to start recording "Let's plays" for youtube, and while rendering videos, the computer freezes within 30 seconds of me rendering, it doesn't matter whether I'm rendering the video at 480P Widescreen or 1080P.

The only consistency other than gaming (which happens for the most part randomly during whether I'm playing for an hour, or up to eight) is the video rendering. Every single time it freezes, but does not blue screen.

Sometimes games freeze, and I can hear a random glitchy sound playing through my headphones until I shut my computer down, or it blue screens.

I haven't been able to write down the error codes but I remember the last one being something like "000000001" and about two more.

Here is my DXDIAG save log, containing specs and other things I don't completely understand if it helps!

I have a problem which I expect is due to a corrupt BIOS chip. I'll explain everything I've done, so someone can perhaps figure out what I've done, and how it can be fixed.

A friend of mine asked me to format and re-intall windows due to it running very laboured and slow (I did add some RAM to help with speed). So, I used my old XP disk, but during set-up, there were quite a few files which couldn't be installed. XP then tried to start, but froze on the black XP screen with the blue progress bar running accross. I suspect the XP disk was damaged, so I tried again, using another XP disk, but it kept freezing in exactly the same place.

I then put another hard drive in, and had the original as the slave, and tried installing XP again, but still had the same problem. SO, I disconnected the slave, but no change.

I tried resetting the CMOS, and took the battery out a few times, for up to an hour, but no change.

I then got a hard disk from another computer with a working copy of XP on it, but with this one, it would go to the black screen asking whether you want to start in safe mode, but no matter what option I choose, it goes to the Blue Screen of death, with a 0x00000007B error.

I'm really desperate for help, as this is my friend's machine, and I'm worried I stuffed it up with a corrupted copy of my Windows XP disk.

Hi,
I recently bought a Samsung EVO 840 120 gb SSD and did a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro on it. Also formated my other HDD's. And after that I started to experience at random times the complete freeze of windows and sometimes blue sceen of death with "clock watchdog timeout" message. They usually happens when I unpacking an archive, during file copy, downloading big files, istalling mods in nexus mod manager for skyrim or sometimes just in very random events. I noticed that usually when this happens hdd activity led on my pc case blinks continuously. When this freeze or BSOD happens I need to manually reset my computer. This problem is starting to get really annoying. Please can someone tell me how to fix this?
(Also most of the archives I download from the internet I get crc errors for most when I try to unpack them, so I have redownload it again :/)

CPU: AMD Bulldozer FX 8150 Eight core Black Edition

No memory dumps in the uploaded reports:

Upload Dump Files:
NOTE: If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues.
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service. Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.

Also, search your entire hard drive for files ending in .dmp, .mdmp, and .hdmp. Zip up any that you find and upload them with your next post.

Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDumpMore info on dump file options here: Overview of memory dump file options for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Wind... Read more

Hi everyone,

I hope someone here can help me out because i'm getting stuck trying to debug this issue.

Blue Screen Information:
A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated.
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA80190D3B30, 0xFFFFFA80190D3E10, 0xFFFFF800039D4510)

I have read that the dump log file should be stored in Windows/Minidumps/ folder or directly under the windows folder called MEMORY.DMP but there have never been any such file created in all my crashes even though i have changed the settings from kernal dump to minidump and back and forth.

Symptoms:
The computer gets blue screen or hangs within 0-60 minutes.
The problem has occured when i am webborwsing, watching video or gaming.

Observations:
When the computer hangs, the orange load button on the computer is lit up constantly suggesting the hardrive is working nonestop.
I did some monitoring of when a freeze occured, it seems that there is a spike in activity CPU and HD then it goes dead and shortly thereafter the HD load goes to 100% all the time, dipping down brefily to 98% really fast then back up again.
After blue screen occurs, the computer has a tendancy to set my set my bios setting incorrectly. Trying to select my sotrage drive to boot before my SSD main drive. This result in a "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key" message at startup and i have to e... Read more

Answer:Blue Screen or Computer Freezes

Hi again,
After countless more hours of debugging I seem to have things up and running stable now again.
What i did was install windows 7 on a new SSD disk which i wasn't using, tested using only that disk installed and everything worked fine, got no freeze or bluescreens.
I then added my storage drive, everything still working fine.
I'm planning to try to use the old SSD disk as storage now instead and see if it works, if not i'll just throw the disk away.
So i've removed all partitions from the old SSD disk, formated it and updated the firmware as suggested, hopfully it will work and not cause any more problems.
So to conculed it seems that there was somthing wrong with the SSD disk, i'm not sure what at this point could be the old firmware that was bugged or became incompatable.
So if you have problem like i posted above i suggest you:
a) Try to update your harddrive firmware.
b) if a doesn't solve anything, try removing the windows disk and install a clean windows on another disk and try running with that disk only.

As an extra note, i noticed that my bios was set up to run the disks in RAID mode when i was fiddeling with the firmware updates.
This seems to be the default setting, since i haven't got my disks RAID configured i decided to switch to AHCI instead which seems more reasonable. I'm not sure if this was contributing to my freezes and blue screens somehow as well.

Hope this helps anyone else out there.

I built a computer approximately 9 months ago, and about 3 weeks ago I came home and the computer was frozen. I restarted the computer and as soon as the motherboard screen and all following screens were garbled. So I figured that the video card must have failed. I put in a backup video card that I had and it worked for about a week. Since then the computer has been freezing and blue screening with error code 0124. It seems to mostly be blue screening when I am watching videos with VLC, it blue screens usually within 1 minute of the video starting. Twice, I was able to use the computer for two days without it freezing or blue screening. But for the past couple of days it has been worse than it has been for the past two weeks.

The motherboard, processor, RAM and hard drive are all 9 months old. The power supply is approximately 2 years old. The video card that was in there that is now garbled is about 2 years old. The video card in there since it has been freezing is about 4 years old, but for the past year it hasn't been used. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64bit installed 9 months ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if any additional information is needed.

These were all caused by hardware (124) as you said. They are at the same memory spot each time I would run memtest to verify yours and follow the below for the 124 stop

My computer randomly freezes and then goes to a blue screen but the text on it is garbled. Is this a hardware problem? I think something overheated.

edit: some more info: It happens after about 10 minutes. Suddenly, my cursor isn't able to move vertically but it can move horizontally. Then it completely freezes and leads into the blue screen. After I restart the computer, the cursor thing happens just a few seconds after windows startup, so I think it really is a heating issue.

Answer:randomly freezes with blue screen

I'm on the computer with the problem right now and here's my hijackthis logfile in case it's not hardware related.

So I wanted to reformat my pc to get more space on my computer. The operation system i installed was windows 7 which is the same system i had before. Everything went well until i restarted my pc after installing audio and graphic drivers.
(Note that i haven't had any issues with the computer before.)
I can't go in to ''safe mode'' or ''Advanced Bios''. ''Safe mode'' doesn't appear on the screen and ''Bios'' just freeze when selected. The only thing i can do is to press F12 to get boot options.
The boot device i can choose from are the following:
Generic STORAGE DEVICE 9451
SATA PM: OCZ-AGILITY3
SATA SM: ST32000524AS
SATA SS: TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-2
UEFI: TSScorp CDDVDW SH-222BB
UWFI: OCZ-AGILITY3
Enter Setup
i can't choose ''Enter Setup'' then it all freezes because its the same as starting the ''Advanced Bios''. I have tried to reformat it again but i end up in a restart loop that ends in a blue screen.
The Blue screens i've been getting are the following:
0x0000007E
0x00000050
0x000000D1
Is there anything else i can try?

I have my laptop set up with a dual boot system where there is a partition on my HD one for each XP Pro boot and one for my data. One of my XP pro boot system is designed specifically for photography and is kept clean to stay fast. I do not use it often, but last time I used it there was an error screen on start up but I did not write it down. I do not think I have made any installations or changes recently to set this off. Now when I try to start that system up it freezes. It goes through the black XP screen with the XP logo in the center and the progress bar below it. Then it goes to a light blue screen with the XP logo slightly right of center and freezes there. I have let it sit for 10 minutes or so and nothing. I have also tried F8 to boot in a safe mode but it still goes to the light blue screen and freezes.

I have not had this dual boot setup for very long but have had no problems so far. Is this a sign I should employee some sort of multi-boot software to help out or is this just a problem with this particular boot?

I had made a disc image of this system setup before this happened. Should I try to reinstall that image?

Thanks

I own a thinkcentre m55 8810-fbu with Pentium D-3.0 Ghz, SATA HD, with Windows XP Pro SP3 installed.  This is a small form factor desktop.  My problem is that the machine destabilizes after about an hour.  I notice lots of wavy line activity on the monitor, the fan revs up some and then it disconnects itself from the internet.  After that I have about 20 secs before it freezes.  I have to power down with the power button to get out of it.  It will boot up again and is operable again for a limited time. When I open the cover, I notice the CPU to be very hot (almost too hot to touch) and the hard drive hotter than I would like to see it.  This unit only has one vent fan. I have reloaded windows which got rid of the blue screen and memory dumps but I have no confidence it won't keep happening.  I have flashed the BIOS with the latest revision available (2jjy49usa - 12-12-2008).  I have reconnected the SATA drive and memory modules.  I don't know that it helped any.  What should I be looking at to rectify this problem?

Answer:Thinkcentre freezes and sometimes goes to blue screen

Please veryfy, that the CPU-fan is running after turning the ThinkCentre on. If not, the fan must be replaced. You also should take a look whether the ribs of the fansink are free of dust. The ThinkCentre works like a vaccum-cleaner and the dust locks the ribs ather a few months of use.You can clean the fansink with compressed air after plug off the fan-power-cable from the board. After that job re-attach the fan-power-cable and test the temperature again.

Whenever I try to start up my laptop, everything goes fine until the blue login screen. It just stops loading right before the WELCOME message replaces the Windows XP Logo.

I'm not sure if this is the cause but:
Before my computer started acting funny, I ran CWShredder. After it was done, whenever I double clicked Internet Explorer, instead of loading the browser window, a new shortcut to internet explorer (without the icon) would come up on the desktop. Then the recycle bin was moved to the very top left corner of the screen and two new folder icons appeared under it, but none of the three had any label under the picture. Then the original IE icon lost the words under it. I tried to restart, but nothing would happen when I clicked the button. So I tried to log off. Again, nothing happened. It wasn't like my computer was freezing up, there was just nothing happening when I would click something.

I tried to boot in safe mode, but the same thing happened. It stopped loading on the blue logon screen before the word WELCOME replaced the XP Logo.

What the HELL is going on, please somebody tell me how to fix this.

Answer:WinXP Freezes at Blue login screen

it could be a number of things, hard to diagnose if I dont see it in front of me. But at this point If u can get into ur operating system, msconfig it and get rid of any startup items, if u cant the best thing u can do at this point is a repair install.

If you have a dell/hp/etc.. type computer they give u a recovery disk, forget that crap.

Get hands on an OEM version of windows xp home or pro, and use the cd key sticker pasted on either the back/side/under the front panel of ur computer. I would recommend a format, but if u have vital data perform a repair install. After that, u will be able to get into ur computer. U can then go through and SHOULD do a proper virus scan/spyware clean. Again I recommend avg antivirus, asquared free, adaware, spybot, and windows defender. all free, all work superbly.

Honestly, if u have the means, after the repair install backup any vital docs/music/pics/movies etc.. (cant backup programs) and just format the computer.

Ok I'll be short and to the point. I was surfing the web, when all of a sudden, I hear the clicking noise that happens when you click a link. It occured rapidly for about 5-7 seconds. All of a sudden I got a error message saying Windows was going to shut down. I restart, then I get a blue screen upon logging into my Windows (XP, Home) acct. Now when I log in, Windows chugs, then it freezes, or I just get a blue screen. I can only work in safe mode (which is what Im doing now) and when I "google" or even "bing" something, I click on a link and get redirected to a totally different site. This happens randomly (sometimes it will take me to the correct site). Please someone help! I tried doing a system restore from safe mode, but when I click the "Next" button, nothing happens. It doesn't freeze, just nothing happens.

Hello.

I have just bought a new computer, think I bought it in August. And ever since then I have had some issues with the computer.

First it was that my SSD harddrive was dead. I called the company wich I bought the computer at and we figured it out then so I sent the SSD hard drive to them and got it replaced with a new.

Now I have sudden freezes, or the computer slows down and almost stops entirely for about 3-5 seconds before it goes back to normal. This may not happen at all for a couple of hours and then it also might happen 7 times in 30 minutes. So its completely random.
Ive scanned my computer multiple times and I have no viruses or spyware on my computer at all.

This is what I have on the last Bluescreen:

BCCode: 1000007e
BCP1: FFFFFFFFC0000005
BCP2: FFFFF800030A3408
BCP3: FFFFF88003153838
BCP4: FFFFF880031530A0
OS Version: 6_1_7600
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 768_1
Anyone who can help me figure out acctually whats causing the problem?

I have also had some Video Card errors. Ive checked for updates and it says I have the most updated driver availible.
Problem Name: LiveKernelEvent
BCCode: 117

Answer:Sudden freezes and blue screen issues

Hey, what is the make/model of you're computer? Also if you could attach the minidumps it would help. To get the minidumps go to start>computer>local disk>windows>minidumps. The files in this folder will need to be compressed to be posted here, use 7-zip for this.

Hey all. I have problem, again.

While playing games my PC freezes, I get sound loop, PC restarts. However no blue screen occurs, it just restarts. Sometimes I can play forever and no bsod will occur, but sometimes bsod occurs after few minutes.

I've ran memtest86 for 16hours, no errors. Prime95, no errors. Cleared CMOS. Fresh windows install. Temperatures of CPU and GPU are normal.

My PC: Asrock P67 Fatal1ty
Intel i5 2500K
Corsair Vengeance 4x2GB
ATi HD 6850 Sapphire
SSD Samsung 830, 128gb
HDD WD Caviar Blue
Crosair TX650 v2

When I run Driver Verifier and select all drivers (expect Microsoft ones), pc crashes before boot logo loads (this time I get blue screen, but only says STOP: 0x0000001E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF80002E73736, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000), nothing more) and doesn't create minidump. When I deselect all drivers and select only random ones (tried with several of them) windows loads, but when I log on to my account, pc freezes before it completely loads (this time, no blue screen occurs and minidump is not created).

Since crash dump mentions ATI driver, I reinstalled graphics driver, but BSOD still occurs.

Answer:PC Freezes, no blue screen, while playing games

Hello SoapyCro.

► Uninstall the programs:
Alcohol 120%
AsRock Utility
Catalyst Control Center.
► Then if it crashes again, Do it:
Download and install |MG| Driver Fusion (Driver Sweeper) 1.1.1 Download.
Reboot the computer in Advanced Boot Options, safe mode. Search Driver Fusion in your start menu, and remove all components of your nVidia display driver.
Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, follow option two to search for the appropriate driver for your system automatically, and install it.
Let us know the situation.
