Epson Printer Cartridge Chip Re-Setter

Question: Epson Printer Cartridge Chip Re-Setter

Hi everyone. I have Epson Stylus C43SX. I came to know that it is possible to refill the cartidge although it is non-refillable. Refilling is performed in two steps:1) Refill the Ink using siring.2) Reset the chipI am not able to find Chip resetter hardware. So I just want to know that is there any software chip resetter. Without resetting, printer does not accept the cartidge. Please tell me if there is another method to refill ink.I shall be very thankfull to you...:: DW

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Am I dreaming or have I read in an earlier issue of PC Advisor of a programme that over-rides the Epson chipped cartridge and so allows use of ALL the ink in it?

Answer:Over-ride Epson cartridge chip

I don't use Epsons, but there is a thing called Zap-it that apparently reprogrammes the chips on Epson cartrides, allowing them to be refilled. click here

Hi to all, did search for this topic but no answers. I have an Epson stylus C42 printer, i only require black prints so therefore spending on colour ink would be nothing more than a waste of money. However im a bit stuck now as the colour ink has finally run out and refuses to print anything even though i have a new black cartridge. The reason for this is the chip on the cartridge alerts the printer that colour has run out so user needs to spend 30 pounds on colour ink to use printer again :( duhAfter a bit of googling i found some sites with compatible cartridges for a seventh of the price! £4click hereI also found a "chip resetter" for 8 pounds that stops your printer from locking up as a result of no colour ink.click hereSo, the ink at 4 quid seems the best way to allow me to print again (in future i'll select black only so colour wont be used), but im concerned whether or not it will reset the printer. It probably would as they then wouldn't be "compatible", but i would like confirmation from someone please that the 4 quid cartridge WILL work. I didn't see info about chips on the siteThanks for any light shedding

Answer:epson cartridge chip question

Its just Epson trying to get you to buy one from them. The compatible will work fine. Personally I use Choicestationery. If you do a fair bit of text printing however you could buy a cheap mono laser, you can get one for about £50 and they are much cheaper to run.

Morning Chaps,I've had this printer, Epson Stylus Photo 870 for almost 4 years. It's given no problems AT ALL in that time, but this morning when it flagged I needed to replace the colour cartridge, it keeps saying 'the installed color ink cartridge cannot be recognised by this printer. Please replace the color ink cartridge'. For the past 2+ years, I've been using Print Rite cartridges with no problems whatsoever, so has anyone any clues why this is happening now? JUST when I'm about to print an IMPORTANT letter??Any advise appreciated. I don't really wanna buy another printer just yet, as this has been so good.AngeTheHippyxx

Stylus Photo 890 . I've used Jettec inks for 2 years, never any problem til now. Put new colour cartridge in and get message 'Installed ink cartridge cannot be recognised' Is this some new way Epson have found to inflate their ink sales and please how do I get round it?

Answer:Epson printer will not accept Jettec cartridge

If you've been using the jettec with the 890 for two years it's probably just a faulty cartridge, it happens on branded product as well as compatibles.

Have replaced my epson cartridges with jettec ones in my stylus photo R300, and almost every time i print something this annoying window pops up to inform me that the cartridges installed are not epson therefore the print quality will differ and do I wish to proceed? I obviously click yes and the document prints perfectly. But does anyone know how I can stop this annoying pop up?????

Answer:epson printer problems with jettec cartridge

After you change the cartridge and recharge the ink. Perhaps it is loosely seated, and that is causing a problem. Try pressing it down firmly.

This seems a little odd as they didn't seem to be empty before the original colour needed replacing.
Please does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I had acompete change of inks and no bother ,after pushing the stop button it settled in the position to change them I have sinse tried after a week and it moves about but doesnt stop now to remove cartridges Is there a way to get it sorted
thanks

Answer:Epson sx200 printer wont move to cartridge position

in my experience with these printers the carriage will only stop in the correct position, when you lift the lid, if there is an empty ink cartridge.
To force a change you need to go through the software on the PC.
Open the printer information, go to maintenance and select cartridge change and follow the on screen prompts.

Can I use just a black ink cartridge (T040) in this printer? Does this convert anything in colour on the monitor to black & white on the page?

Answer:Epson C62 Ink Cartridge

In the printer driver's printer properties you should see an option to print in black or colour. I believe the C62 has one black cartridge and one three-colour cartridge. I don't expect the printer will work at all if the colour cartridge is not fitted. It might print in black if the colour cartridge is empty. From the print menu, click on properties, and check the print as black option.

Problem: need to decipher the 6-digit code stamped on Epson OEM ink cartridges to see when the cartridge was manufactured, and hence the "best by" date, which according to my last info was 5 yrs after mfr date.

Background: up to now it has been relatively simple, according to an article I found a few years ago, explaning the mysterious code on the cartridges, to determine the manufacture date: the first 2 digits of the 6 were the year and month of manufacture, e.g. 89 - - - - meant that the mfg date was Sept 2008. Always matched up with the "best by" date on the box, when it was available. Simple, right?

Not any more, it seems. Looks like something has changed, and Epson's normal tech support channels are either unable or unwilling to help (I suspect the former). Can you visualize the email equivalent of "deer in the headlights?" The code on the cartridge and the info on the box are not matching up. Two examples for a couple of my T060 cartridges:

These cartridges both came in unopened boxes, and on one of the cartridges is stamped on the side opposite of the label:

On the outside of the box:

With another T060 unopened box, the following is stamped on the opposite side of the label on the cartridge:

That happens on all Epson printers when installing non-Epson chipped ink cartridges. But once I have said "Yes" to continue it normally doesn't come up again. It could indicate that the ink cartridge is not installed properly? Try taking it out and re-installing.

Hi Guys
I need ink cartridges for my Epson sx 115 printer, and a bit spoilt for choice with the big collection of compatible and genuione suppliers.
I bought some compatible this week but am sending them back, 3 different boxes so the company obviously buy in from different companies.
The frustrating thing is, I virtually only print the odd letter, so I thought I could get buy with black only, but apparently its not that straight forward.
Any advice on genuine/compatible, and best suppliers from your experience.

Most obtain produtcs from several suppliers. With epsons the biggest ink use is when turning on and off.

Less than one year ago, I bought an Epson xp-420. It came with ink cartridges. I bought some non-Epson refill cartridges and just tried to install one of them when the printer gave me the message that my ink was out. Now the printer is showing that it does not recognize the cartridge! I have searched the web for "fixes." I did not know that Epson had a proprietary "glitch" in the software that won't allow refill cartridges! Is there any "work around" that I can use? Is it possible to use an "open source" driver so that I don't have to use the Epson software? Any ideas will be welcome and appreciated!

Answer:Epson xp 420 and refill cartridge problems!

Its not just Epson nearly all manufacturers are doing this to force you to buy genuine ink. I have a HP printer and the ink is ridiculously expensive and never last long enough. What I do is buy from ebay, many sellers nowadays have worked out a way to make their ink work although the only think you don't get is the ink level, not a big deal. Have a look on ebay and ask the sellers questions.

The other think you could try, and its worked for me in the past, if remove the little PCB under the old genuine ink and put it on the new non genuine ink cartridge, obviously remove the PCB from the new ink first. Something this works depending on how the printer handles the PCB, some of them will invalidate a PCB once the ink runs low.

Hi,

Situation:
I have a printer (Epson Stylus CX4300).
and I don't have colored ink anymore,
but I have black ink.

I don't use colored ink..
I often use black only.

but I can't print even I have black ink,
I changed it to black and white mode,
but it doesn't print
it always says that "replace cartridge"
but I'm not printing colored,
and I only need to print black.

Questions:
1. Can I print black and white even I don't have
colored cartridge?

2. What is the reason why I can't print black and white even I have black Ink?is it because colored ink is also needed in printing black and white?

3. What are the other ways of printing black and white without colored ink?

Hi, I have a fairly new epson nx400 and i bought compatible remanufactured cartridges for it. AS soon as i put them in the printer will not reconize them. I went online and read a few things to try byt nothing is working. I can't return these so if anyone knows any way to make them work i'd really appreciate it

Answer:epson won't reconize compatible cartridge

Not always, but generally Epson as well as other printer manufacturers don't do well with aftermarket cartridges.

The code on the gold stripes/contacts... on the cartridges...must be read by the printer driver/software/firmware. If it doesn't match, you get the message/problem you're seeing.

In my opinion for the few extra dollars it's worth using genuine ink and paper for the printer. Headaches cost me money...

Answer:Epson C86 magenta cartridge probs

The jet is blocked more than likely. To clean it with out expending masses of ink try the following. You will need a refil syringe or small hypo syringeor a small squeeze plastic bottle [ some cosmetics come in] thin plastic tube or drinking straw or cable sheath deionzed distilled water[Steam iron/battery stuff]alchohol[vodka] make a 10% solution pr window cleaning fluid[a water/alcohol solution]The idea is to creatre a pump .Remove the Cartridge. fit the tub/straw over the feed spike in the base of the chamber- and pump the fluid back and forth- This should blast the obtraction out.

I immediately replaced the Color cartridge, then installed the new BLACK cartridge. Printer works ok BUT.... The ink indicator for the COLOR cartridge reads FULL, and its actually only about 1/2 full!
Can the indicator be reset to give the proper reading for the color cartridge, or should I just take the OLD color cartridge out & install a new one

When the OLD color cartridge is finally empty will the printer's flashing lights in the front panel show it?

Gary, unless it is a VERY critical printer I wouldn't worry about it at all. You will know when it is empty by wasting 1 sheet of paper. That is allot cheaper than 1/2 a color cartridge.

I have an Epson Stylus D88 Plus inkjet printer. And I'm using a bulk dye sublimation ink system to feeding to it. This was all fine, and the bulk ink system has filled the cartridges, and beforehand, everything was working fine.

The ink has leaked once or twice inside the printer before, but it hasn't caused much problem in the past. Everything still worked and I required the odd automatic nozzle clean, but that's about it.

Since then, I have disassembled the ink system from the printer, left it be for a month, and reconnected it, finding that the cyan ink doesn't print, and in its place, there's some light pink lines. I tried printing a small square of cyan, and each time I did, I get the exact same pattern of inconsistent, pink lines taking its place.

What I've tried:

- Cleaning the nozzles a few times, then leaving it, and trying it again.
- Taking the cartridges out and cleaning a bit of the mess around the hole where the cyan would come out.
- Cleaning the bit that sticks up into cyan's hole (excuse the innuendos). There's this black thing that the cartridges sit in that move across to drop the ink onto the page (that's where the things stick up - are they the heads?). I haven't been able to look at the bottom side of that.
- Printing a square of cyan several times.

On my nozzle check, where it's meant to print an unbroken line across, on my other colours, I get the full line, on my cyan, I get a very tiny amoun... Read more

Anyone help to remind me how to replace a damaged cartridge before it's completely empty of ink?I've lost the original handbook for Epson Stylus Colour 600. I need to get the carriage to stop at the centre of its movement which happens automatically if the ink is empty. Thanks once again in anticipation!

Answer:Epson Stylus Colour 600 damaged cartridge removal

you should have a piece of software installed on your computer that came with the printer that allows you to change the cartridge. I think it is the one that allows you to select the print quality etc

My Epson R300 only uses six cartridges...:-)You may still have another cartridge(s) ready for replacement - it won't work unless all cartridges are operational. Also try Epson's own Printer Status Monitor from:click here

Hi,

My computer is working fine - but I recently purchased a new Samsung ML2570 laser printer that just died when the starter cartridge ran out of toner (or actually when the printer counter hit its predetermined set no. - probably 1000). At least I think that's what happened. The starter cartridges come without fuses. Replacement cartridges or toner refill kits come with fuses that are supposed to reset the counters, so when I refilled the starter cartridge and inserted the fuse that came with the kit, the printer still didn't work. I tried again with two more fuses, with no luck. I don't have a printer jam and all the doors are well-latched before I turn it on. Does anyone have any idea what I should do next to get my printer working again? My email is [email protected]

Regards, and thanks for any help,

Marie

Try to buy a new quality printer for a long term use. But before that I want an idea about how I can select a quality printer and printer cartridge? Is it good if I select a printer or cartridge using internet? I enquired in many sites and was impressed with the information provided about[top quality inkjet cartridges in http://www.inkdomain.com/. Anybody heard about this site? Please revert back if you know anything about this?

Answer:How to choose a Quality Printer and Printer Cartridge!!!!

inkdomain,On the subject of "best" inkjet printers as in many cases in life it depends a lot on what it is you intend to use the printer primarily for.If you intend to do a great deal of photo creation then you would want one that can give you high quality photos. If on the other hand you will only be using it for printing data then speed may be a required criteria. Also if space constraints are an issue and you want to have a scanner, photo copier and a printer in a small area then a combination unit might be the best way to go.For myself as i refill all my own cartridges (an immense cost saving) i would be principally (after use and quality considerations) only purchase a printer that i personally can refill the cartridges from bulk ink. I could with the extremely limited information you have given make some recommendations but it would be more precise if you defined your own objectives considering my earlier points.truenorth

Since I was last on the forum I had problems with the computer continually blinking all the time, as if programme was running in background continually. I had installed Secunia PIS and believed that it may have caused the problem. I then had problem uninstalling Secuni and found that I was able to sort it out using “REGEDIT” in the Software section “user_software” and “machine_software”, click and deleted the programme.

The continual “blinking” saga is still there. But, at the same time I am having problems with printing any documents with the Epson C90, which would take at least three minutes to complete the spooling and printing function. I didn’t have this problem before. I spoke to Epson support and sadly they were no help, except to advise me to uninstall and reinstall the programme.

I thought that possibly my WORD programme could be part of the problem, which is WORD 2000 SR-1 that is fully updated to SR-3. I then uninstalled WORD and reinstalled WORD as per Microsoft Download site for software, and printing problem was still the same.

Hello!

Request recommendation between Epson Stylus TX 510 FN or Epson L550 Ink Tank Printer -- I had bought the Epson Stylus 510 FN Multifunction Inkjet Printer in January 2013 and have been facing different problems with at least 5 service requests for different errors/problems. While the local Epson service team has been very helpful and supportive, I am now fed up with the unit and requested Epson for a new replacement or an option to go for a higher-end model (a model upgrade, with the price differential to be borne from my side, of course). The Epson regional head promised a replacement of the unit as the minimum.

I'm waiting to hear from them (they promised to revert in the next day or two), though the minimum they have promised is that they are ready/willing to replace the error-prone Espon Stylus TX 510 FN that I have with a new unit (i.e., same model). If the company HQ does agree for a model upgrade (with the price differential to be borne by me), should I go for the Ink Tank system-based L550 (Fax and Wireless/Ethernet are a must). I see that the Ink Tank systems have been introduced recently. What's their performance like?

Appreciate any feedback on the L550 specifically please. Is the bad experience with the Stylus TX 510 FN (in my case) unusual, or, is the model (Stylus TX 510 FN) having inherent glitches/flaws itself? Finally, should I stick with the Stylus TX 510 FN (i.e., the new Stylus 510FN unit replacement by the company is promised as... Read more

Answer:Epson Stylus TX 510 FN or Epson L550 Ink Tank Printer - which one?

Welcome to the forum indieprint In all likely hood the best answer I think you'll receive would be to compare two reviews and look for features that you will require.

The problem with printers is they are especially electrically and mechanically complex even in the computing world and the reliability can be very random when you have so many moving parts, also there is the work load, maintenance schedule, toner and ink quality, paper quality, computer stability, multiple experience levels. You could read ten reviews of the same printer and each would have a different experience so even if your lucky enough to receive a reply from a forum member with his experience of those two exact models I wouldn't use that as the basis for a new purchase.

So I would read as many respected technology reviews and also as many consumer reviews from printing suppliers and of course take into account you ink running costs.

Again welcome to the forum and I hope you get a more helpful reply.

I have a Canon i860 printer. This printer has 4 color cartridges (one of them is black for photo printing) and 1 black pigment ink cartridge for text printing. Is there a way to deactivate the black pigment ink cartridge and write text with the other black cartridge ? I'm tired of all the smudging. I tried everything but nothing can prevent this smudging. I had other printers and they all do that with black pigment ink. It never seems to dry.

Most printers have a cleaning procedure built into the software. Going though the process may help. Go to your Control Panel and open the printer utilities. On my system they are located in printer Properties under the services tab. There should also be a calibration and test procedure there. Good luck.

Geez, it sure seems like I should know the answer to this. But I don't. I usually print in grayscale. Right now, when I try to print something that has color in it, the stuff in black and white comes out okay but the stuff in at least some colors doesn't print at all. I presume that means I need to replace the color cartridge and that my assumption that the color cartridge isn't used when printing in grayscale is wrong? Right? Since the cartridges cost so much, I don't want to replace the wrong one. Also, I thought there was some way to test how the ink cartridges were doing but if so I don't know how. Is there a way?

I have an HP Deskjet 970 printer.

Thans, grandpaw7

Answer:Which printer cartridge?

goto the store, and tell them u want a color cartridge for the 970 . theyll give it to you.

greyscale printing doesnt use color ink at all, as far as i know. because i have a laserjet 6l, which has only black ink, and prints great greyscale images. however, if left unused, ink nitrites can dry out. this has happened a lot of times with my epson, and drives me nuts. if u want to continue printing in greyscale, get the black cartridge only. if u wanna printt color too, get the color ink also.

note: if ur printer supports multiple cartridges for all the colors (CMYK), u should only reblace the ones that have run out. but i dont think the 970 uses CMYK or RGB\bl cartridge sets, and the black cartridge can be refilled, refilling can void ur warranty though. and is even illegal someplaces

I just installed 2 non HP print cartridges (Black & color) in my HP Deskjet 1660. I purchased them from Amazon. It printed for a few days, with some grumbling from the HP Solution Center about non HP cartridges but I figured they would stop after a while. Now it won't print telling me there is no 2 way communication. I changed the USB cable but the the problem persists. I suspect the problem is due to the non HP cartridges. I do not want to pay the exorbitant prices HP charges for their cartridges. I have used a refill kit for the HP black cartridges which works but it is rather messy which is why I decided to try the counterfeit ones. I don't believe there is a legal issue here because I own the printer, I don't rent it & I can do with it what I want.
Do I have a real 2 way communication problem or is it the cartridges? If it is the cartridges is there a way to bypass them? A generic driver maybe?

I have a Dell Photo Printer model 924. I only use black ink but have left the empty color cartridge in place or it won't operate. I do not use printer but maybe once every couple weeks or so.
When I now tried to print something I get the message that right cartridge, (color one) is incorrect. These are Dell cartridges, never have been refilled. I removed cartridge several times and reinstalled it. It still gives the same message.
Is there a solution for this problem, saving having to buy a color cartridge, I won't use to fill the spot for it to be recognized?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank You 4dsmom

Answer:Printer says incorrect cartridge

My opinion would be that the sensor on the colour cartridge has tried out and is therefore producing the error message, as the printer cannot determine that the colour cartridge is the correct one
Have you checked in options that you are configured to print only in black or whatever dell calls it.
As it is way out of guarantee I would chance it and fit a compatible cartridge

I have a Canon MP970 clour printer and I think I'm a bit out of my league with it. There are seven inks and when my black ran out I looked online for a supplier and found confusingly that there were two blacks listed along with my other colours. One of the suppliers said he would look up the correct one for my printer and I ordered it, meanwhile disposing of the spent one. This was a mistake because I had noticed that the black I took out was slightly fatter than the other colours but I had forgotten this by the time I got the new one a week later, which of course was the wrong one. Only as I was putting it in and noticed the space was too big did I remember but it was too late to retrieve it before it slipped awkwardly into place. I haven't been able to get it out. I have removed the other cartridges to make more room but although it will move left or right a bit I can't shift it. I can't lift the printhead out either. This is a difficult machine to get at internally as the lids only open halfway. Canon tell me it isn't covered by the warranty as inks are consumables and an engineer will cost 105.00 just to come out; plus parts if he can repair it. If he can't, the additional cost of returning to the workshop looms.I bet no-one's had this problem - who would be so stupid? - but any suggestions from anyone familiar with this printer would be welcome.

Can we find alternative for costly pc ink cartridge? one thought came to my mind which is I am keeping before you people that instead of ink cartridge can we use a normal ball-pen? Some R&D will be required but let us look into this I am from india and any kind of pc cartridge cost in between Rs. 500 to 1200 (Black only) max capacity of 8 ml to 20 ml, with changes in PC printer user should be in a position to use a normal ball pen (which cost hardly Rs 5 and no fear of ink dryness and can write around 100 pages) to write the word doc, as I am having PC printer which is used only for normal letter printing and that is also in BLACK. this will be very useful for normal usage - Thanks

Answer:Alternative to PC printer ink cartridge

Sorry but no chance. A ball pen can not write in anything like sufficient definition (ie small enough dots). Also a ball pen relies on contact with the surface in order to rotate the ball which has the ink. printing dots would not allow this. Good idea but in this case not possible but keep up the lateral thinking and one day??!!??

I haven't been printing much and now my cartridge won't release ink even though it is 99% full.

I followed the instructions about cleaning the cartridge nozzles, etc. and I ran the 'clean nozzles' thing on the printer itself.

The weird thing is that when I wipe the toner cartridge with a damp cloth as they suggest, all three colours come out on the cloth, so it would seem that the cartridge is not clogged, but no colour will come out using the printer.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

It's a Lexmark Z22, if that helps.

Thank you.

The Cartridges are probably "Chipped" and you will need to get a "Device" to "re-set" the Chip.I think that I saw one in Morrisons ~ If that is so, then most of the Supermarkets will have them!

I purchased a refill kit for my printer..which was Lexmark at the time. Read the instructions and threw them out. About 2 weeks later my printer broke and I bought an Epson C44. Now I can't refill the cartridge because I threw out the instructions and they are all different. Does anybody know how to do it or where I could get the instructions? I looked on the net and found lots of people selling them but nobody with any instructions. I've emailed the company that makes the ink refill but haven't heard from them yet. If anybody knows I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Answer:Refill printer cartridge

You aren’t going to like the instructions. Epsons have a chip in the cartridge that estimates when the tank is empty based on use and shuts down the printer until it is replaced. As far as I know all current models have this feature. The only workaround is to reprogram the chip. Special refill kits come with the deprogrammer. You can buy aftermarket tanks with a chip that will fool the printer but they aren’t as cheap as they were before the chips.

These are the best instructions I have found: http://www.oddparts.com/ink/help.htm#Epson
www.inksupply.com also has good instructions.

Generic refills that will work with both Lexmark and Epson printers will give poor color. Not even all Epson, Canon and HP printers take the same ink as their stable mates. Black usually works OK but color ink is different between printers. The two places with instructions I linked have ink specifically formulated for each printer, and even those are off slightly enough to give a color tint printing in grayscale, which mixes colors in most printers.

I need the location of each cell for each color from within the cartridge in order to do a refill. could someone help me please. its a hp1823d cartridge.

Answer:printer cartridge hp1823d

Hi, Firstly- I know how you probably feel about the cost of printer cartridges, and I feel the same- but, have a look at this link referring to using another HP ink cartridge, check in the list to see if your printer is supported...the info says that the HP 78 one works a lot better.

You can find the manual for the printer at the support site for HP::

Just type in the model of the printer and you can obtain the specs and manual. That will show the color arrangement. If you had posted the printer model, I would have looked for ya.

I have a Lexmark P6250 printer running under Windows 7. It was working fine the other day but now it says to install a black cartridge on the left side. There is one there and was there the other day when this printer was working.

I have removed and reinstalled the cartridge but I get the same message. When I just ignore the message and print a page it prints a blank page. The cartridge is new. I have printed maybe 10 pages with it. Very frustrating!

Answer:Lexmark printer - does not see ink cartridge

Likely a defective cartridge. If you still have the sales receipt, I'd take it back to the store and exchange it.

Hi,
I have an HP Colour Laserjet Printer CP1515n printer. I found that the black cartridge got a leak but the problem is when I print, I'm getting ink spread on the right side of the sheet as in the Image.

Is it bcoz of the black cartridge leak or drum problem. Other ink dots on the sheet is bcoz of the black cartridge leak. Can anyone help me to figure it out?Thank You.
