Another Graphics Card Problem (sorry guys)

Question: Another Graphics Card Problem (sorry guys)

Hey.I bought quite a few PC games to play over christmas. My PC met the recommended requirements yet all the games were choppy and really really slow. I think it might be my graphics card.... Basically I'm unsure which one I have! I ran everest and it came up with what you see above. The numbers and letter also appear in my Device Manager window. So basically I'd just like to know1) How to nail it down and2) if you think this wil stop the choppy graphicsThanks in advance, Carlos.

Preferred Solution: Another Graphics Card Problem (sorry guys)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm fairly certain my graphics card is causing my computer to freeze so I'm in the market for a new one. I am not a hard core gamer, I barely spend anytime playing games so I really just need a cheap replacement. Id rather not replace the power supply if thats possible? I think I really just need a replacement that is the same as the card I had.

1. Games -
I only really play EVE online - which isnt graphics intensive unless i put it on high settings (which i rarely do)

2. Budget -
I'm looking to spend around £50 - don't think its worth spending anymore?

3. Power Supply -
See attachment

4. Computer Specs. -

1. Motherboard - Dell Inc - (model=0RY206)
2. Graphic interface - PCI-Express, link width = x16, max supported = x16 (I think the graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS with 128mb of adapter ram)
3. Memory - type = DDR2, size = 4096mb, channels # = dual
4. CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+
5. CPU Speed - Core speed for core #0 & core #1 = (+/-.1) 2812.5MHz
6. Power Supply Make/Model - no idea
7. Watt output/Amperage - no idea

5. Country -
UK

Thanks in advance

When I try to open up AMD Settings it says;
"No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for your AMD hardware.
I don't think I downloaded/installed a driver from the Internet as I am careful with my computer.
Instead I updated drivers from the device manager. I have updated the driver for the card. (AMD Radeon R7 M260)

It says;

"Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date."
On device manager the device status for the graphics card says this device is working properly.
I have updated all Windows updates.

I have a Satellite 1100 with the Intel 82830M Graphics Card. The latest driver is version 14.7 which I have just installed - the Graphics icon in the bottom right corner changes from a multi-coloured square to a blue screen when you install this, and the mouseover text says "Intel(R) Extreme Graphics".

However, since installing this, my display freezes every time I start a game, or if I go into Display Properties & change anything. A hard reboot is then required. Also, the startup process takes 2-3 times as long since this upgrade.

Has anyone else experienced this problem ? Does anyone know of a solution ? I have seen a few posts on other forums about this, including some saying that this issue was caused by XP Service Pack 2. Can anyone confirm this ?

Answer:Problem with latest Graphics driver for Intel 82830M Graphics Card on Satellite 1100

Hi

I assume you have installed the graphic card driver from the Intel website and you use NOT a Toshiba graphic driver which was designed especially for the notebook usage.
Well, Toshiba recommend using the Toshiba drivers. In this case you should try to use the recommended graphic driver which you can download from the Toshiba driver page.

I'm having a problem others seem to encouter, but can't get it resolved. I bought a ATI Radeon 600X Pro 256MB/PCI-E card. I have an Emachine T6410 computer with built in ati xpress 200. Specs found herehttp://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=desktop&subcat=T-Series&model=T6410)

My problem is after installing the card my computer doesn't recognize the hardware. As soon as I put the card in, my monitor will not work. The computer boots up and the monitor has power, but no picture. The card fan is working...i can hear it. I take the card out and it works fine.

Here is what I have tried:
-Called emachines for support and after disabling my onboard graphics, still doesn't work, they say call ATI
-Tried support from ATI....no help, they say its the computer
-Tried disabling in BIOS, but it doesn't offer a selection for that. It also does't have a PNP feature. Only first initial display..which I tried on PCIEX
-Plug monitor to both card, and onboard.
-Check MSI website and I do have updated BIOS

I can tell that the onboard graphics are disabled due to large scale print. I tried uninstalling the drivers, but when i turn it on it detects and installs the built in graphics. I just can't get the monitor to work whenever the card is inserted. If it would work I could manually install the hardware and drivers. I'm thinking I need a different BIOS that would let me use PNP and disable onboard graphi... Read more

Answer:Problem installing new graphics card on Emachine/onboard-graphics

An extreme option

As you do have the option of a working computer prior to installing the new card I would back up any files that are important to you..
Then, before I would pay someone else BIG bucks, I would put in the new card and try a fresh install of windows. Force it to recognise your new card. The drivers that Windows will pick should suffice until the install is done and you can then install the card specific drivers from your disk.
This is given ONLY as a choice. I am not sure this will solve your problem but IT IS something this cheap bas____ would try before paying someone else.

Good Luck and check back, maybe someone else will contribute a better idea.

Friends,

Lately I have been having graphics problems in games. There are these " artifacts", wierd shapes, triangles, ect that appear and "shot" through my screen. it is hard to explain what it looks like, except that it is NOT normal.

It is hard to say when these appeared. I have recently got a different monitor. It is not new. It is a Dell CRT monitor. I replaced 1 CRT with another because I am cheap .

I have the latest drivers, I think, for my graphics card ( GeForce 5700 LE ). Not great , but not terrible. I play the games with either low or medium settings. I ran a benchmark test that was terrible.

Any ideas as to weather it is the card or monitor?

Hi all,

I've this really weird graphics problem where in many 3d games, character rendering has gone totally whack. An example from 3dmark05 here:

When you see it moving, it looks horible, sometimes characters are blinking/transparent.

At first I thought it was a problem with my graphics card, so I took it over to a friends pc which has almost the same hardware as mine, and it ran fine without any weird glitches. What else can I suspect now? I've changed nVidia Forceware from 91.47 to 92.91, and its the same thing. Also, everything is stock, [email protected], GPU/Mem @stock (even tried massive underclocking).

Other weird things shown is like on games, some characters will have their arms/legs move up to some really weird positions, and return to normal in a very rapid manner... kinda like flailing limbs. I can play FEAR however, with almost no anomalies, except that lighting sometimes flicker at certain angles(when its not supposed to).

Really hope you can give me some ideas here as I can't solve this on my own. Thanks all.

My system:

C2D e6400
Gigabyte 965P-DS3
1GB Kingston DDR2
Galaxy 7900GS
CM Igreen 500W PSU

Answer:Graphics anomaly, but not graphics card problem

it could be overheating in your system, power problems, or a dusty/damaged slot.

Okay, so I've just had to turn my graphics card off. This is because the problem that has plagued me for the better part of the year has gotten worse.

The problem? THIS:

This first started in the first Q of the year. During a game (HL2 GarrysMod), the graphics screwed up. The thing is, when I got back to desktop, everything worked (works) fine. Just the graphics are b*ggered royally. After an email exchange with the sellers of the graphics card (An Abit Radeon 9600SE), Dabs, I got them to take it back and "fix" it. By "fix", I meant that after using the "fixed" card for a while (a couple/few months) it happened again (around September) . So I asked them again, but the warranty had expired so no help there. So I simply didn't play any games. Apart from a small period of time in October (Where it worked for some reason, then started screwing up again), I haven't been able to play any 3D games. I then reasoned that it struggled on the 3D factor. So I started playing 2D games like CnC RA2 and Baldurs Gate. But then, recently, they started to screw up too. So I stopped playing games. But now tonight, the card started screwing up, on the desktop. So I disabled the card.

More information. While the card was away getting "fixed" my stepdad lent me a spare card of his (which he no longer has), an Nvidia 5200. When i put it in, the motherboard wouldn't recognise it. So we did everything; we reinstalled windows, we did the... Read more

Hi, I have a EVGA e-GeForce 7600GT 256 MB PCIe Video Card which supports the SLI technology allowing me to link up 2 or more graphics cards for greater performance. Now this card has DDR3 memory. I wanted to know if I can link it up with a DDR2 memory graphics card which also supports SLI. If I can, how will this difference affect performance?

Which card?? "A card with DDR3 memory", or "A thingy with a red switch on it" tell us just as much.
But if it's not another 7600 GT you're trying to SLi, just forget it, especially if you're going to buy the other card.

ok i knocked my computer against the wall by mistake with my leg. and it must of done something to the cords to the graphics card. my screen turned off then on, then changed colors RED GREEN PINK BLUE(i think those colors anyway) really quickly. then back to normal, ever since then fps in games such as call of duty 2 have declined by alot. i use to get 333fps. now i get 120? not even that at constant. and then recently my monitor turned itself off completely. turns out i had to replace a cord from the monitor to the computer, or the monitor to power point (i cant remember).
would my graphics card be damaged or something els in my computer?, ive taken out my graphics card, cleaned it a little from dust etc.. put it back in, updated drivers etc.. but just still stays the same, any help would be appreciated thanks
i have a 7600GT, if you need any other information just tell me, my computer isnt old either, about1 year.

First off, I am not particularly computer savvy, and I appreciate any help you guys can offer.

When playing any 3D games on my computer, my graphics card will get ridiculously hot. I downloaded speedfan, and it says my GPU gets to about 120C; That is, right before it crashes.

I can usually play the games about 10 mins to an hour before it freezes, depending on how recently I have been playing before.

When the games freeze, the screen will freeze, I cannot move the mouse, and the audio will loop the last half second of sound over and over until I force shut down the computer and start over.

I noticed that the usual whirring on my computer was a little off, so I opened the case and looked at the GPU while a game was running. Sure enough the fan spends most of the time sitting still. It will sit, spin for less than a second, then sit again sporadically.

I took the card out, dissembled it the best I could, and cleaned a considerable amount of dust from off the wings of the fan itself with a Q-tip. There was no noticeable improvement, and speedfan still reads the same temperatures.

I have also tried about 5 different graphics drivers, again with no noticeable results.

It may also be worth noting that the driver I was using for a long time was said later to have had a fan speed error. Nvidia even had a warning on their drivers list for anyone using that driver to roll back.

My GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS (copied from dxdiag).

Thank you in advance for any help.

Answer:Graphics Card Fan Problem

That series is almost 5 years old, if that particular card is that old then it might be dying. If its new then its a faulty Graphics card in my opinion. If driver updates and cleaning it didn't cure it the only other thing you can do is add more case fans and position it so that it blows on the graphics card. But for the hastle involved with that it might be worth changing it for a new one.

Hi,
I have got an 1 GB Nvidia N210 series graphics card.... i inserted it in the right slot & connected it to the monitor via vga cable... but the monitor does not give any display.... i have no idea what is to be done .... please help...
Thanks !

Answer:Graphics Card Problem

Make sure that the video card is seated into the slot properly, and if any power cord is needed, make sure that it is attached. Next, make sure that the VGA cable is properly connected. You may want to remove the card and re-seat it to be on the safe side. Try clearing CMOS on your mobo as well-after reseating the video card. let me know if you need assistance with this!

Hi I've had my computer running for bout 3 months now and it has been, but recently i brought a AGP8X GeForce 7600gt 256mb DDR3 and now on my screen there are little black lines showing up.. It is not specific places on the the screen its just some icons or some widows but its covered in these little black lines.. if the image is black then it becomes white lines, sometimes grey. A lot of the times on games it locks up aswell and i have to press reset button because there is no other way of getting back to the desktop otherwise it's all messed up then i get a message saying the game requires more than 12mb of RAM. I'm sure it has nothing to do with my monitor i have tried 4 different ones and all the same problem. At first I thought it was my psu but then i got a 500w and my graphics card only requires a 350w. I've also been on BIOS and made sure it's on AGP and a 256 card, also tried putting he voltage up by +0.1 as someone suggested to me and that didn't work either.Although I've thought of one thing it could be is that i have to uninstall my old drivers that are with the onboard graphics but i have no idea how to uninstall them I've looked in BIOS nothing there,in devices there was nothing under display adapters except for my NVIDIA GeForce one that i am having the problem with. I have Driver cleaner but the problem is I am not sure of what drivers to get rid of. So I'm pretty lost I've tried everything everyone has told m... Read more

MS8147C+ Matsonic VIA Motherboard
Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 256mb 8x agp video card
Sound Blaster 2ZS gamer edition sound card
Windows XP Home Edition

All right, I've been getting an error on my computer, which I built myself. Once in a while, at completely random times, a blue screen pops up, and it freezes. The blue screen is filled with text, saying, summerized, that if this is the first time you've seen this, then go into safe mode, and uninstall drivers which you've installed recently. I've been seeing this error message ever since I've built my computer. At the bottom, it gives some numbers as followed:
0x0000007E(0x0000005, 0xF734E5C7, 0xF7C7E4E8, 0xF7C7E1E8)

I know that it's a problem with my video card because whenever I restart my computer from that blue screen, when windows load up, a window pops up and says "Windows has just recovered from a serious crash" and you can send or don't send error report, when I push send, and I fill out that info, it says that there's a vid card problem, and I should look at Nvidia's site. I also got the latest drivers for all my hardware installed.

Anyone ever experience this or know the solution? Thanks for reading.

Answer:Graphics card problem

On a Win98 system, i had a similar error while playing some video games. turns out it wasn't my video card that was bad but rather my memory sticks. If you have one spare, take out the memory that's in there now and swap it out w/ a known good one. Worth a shot.

Howdy folks. I recently built a new computer, and when I attempt to start it up, nothing displays on my monitor.

There are four LEDs on my graphics card. Only three of them will turn on, and the one that wont turn on depends on which side i hook the plugs. I need to put two six pin power plugs into it, and one of the plugs only illuminates one of the LEDs next to it. I am afraid I may not be using the right power adapters. One of the plugs I use for the graphics card has a little offshoot plug on it, with two additional pins on a seperate plug, and the other does not, which leads me to believe they are not the same type of power. They are, however, the only two plugs which fit the slot.

Is the problem that my graphics card is bad? Is my motherboard bad? Is the conenction bad? Is the power supply not giving enough juice, or the wrong kind of juice?

Here is all of my hardware:

Hi all

I'm new to this forum and I've searched around but I've not been able to find anything similar to this posted elsewhere.

My PC Is only a couple of months old and today it's started misbehaving. Twice I've had the whole system freeze up and the screen shows a series of vertical lines. Once this happens, the whole system is locked and all I can do is restart the machine.
Can you give me any ideas on what is causing this? I wondered if it's a problem with the graphics card (AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB). Here is a photo of the screen the last time this happened and I've included the info from TSG SysInfo below.

I just got myself a new graphics card to go with my newbuild, a Leadtek 6800 GT 256. Yesterday I tried to install the card, but after removing old driver, rebooting, and installing the new card, I get a lot of artifacts when I turn the pc on (mostly green dots all over the screen), and then it reboots after about 10-15 seconds. I also tried the card in an old Dell (280W ps), with the same result. I dont know if a not powerfull enough power supply will cause such a problem, or if it is just a bad card. The ps in my new box is supposed to be a 400W ps, but it is really lite, so I dont know for sure. It seems to be a crappy ps to me.
One thing i did notice is that the sound card and the graphics card share the same IRQ.
Any help would be much appriciated.

Hi AllI recently had a post about me purchasing a new graphics card and just wanted to say thanks for the help on that as after slight delivery problems i finally got the card installed and working great a very big improvement....BUTWhen my computer has been on for lets say afew hours due to annoying things like work or sleep when i switch my machine back on the grahpics card fan tends to make rather a large noise for anything between 10 secs to a minute or so, should i be looking to get the card replaced or is this a common occurance. Thanks in advice for all inputRob

Answer:Possible Graphics Card Problem

Many graphics cards are designed to work like that; the fan goes flat out at first, then the temp control software kicks in and the fan speed is regulated according to GPU temp thereafter. What card do you have? Any mention of clever fan speed control in the literature that came with it?

Hi all, can anyone help?I am running XP Pro on a 1GB Athlon with 384mb SDRAMI used to have an NVidea GForceII MMX 100/200 (Tornado) Graphics card. I started to experience problems with my PC which kept freezing and then came up with the following error:"WINDOWS SYSTEM ERROR""Microsoft Windows detected and recovered from a device failure. Please save your work and reboot to restore full functionality"and then the screen would revert to a different colour setting. My intention anyway was to upgrade the graphics card anyway and I have just done so to a NVidea GForce4 MX440SE-T with 64mb DDR. I thought this had resolved the problem however its started again. I get anywhere between 15mins and 1 hours use before it crashes.I installed all drivers for it with my AV scanner and all background software stopped.

I think I may have resolved the problem myself folks. Firstly rolled back the graphics driver then downloaded the rlevant update to a folder on my desktop. Opened up the Compatability wizard and set it to run with Win2000. So far havn't had a crash in the last 2 hours. Fingures crossed!

hey guys. Well i have a GeForce 7900 GT, so thats a very good graphic car, but the problem is that this graphic car is not runing as it supose to be. For example i can see the difference with some games, like Empire Earth, Wich dont require a LOT of graphics, but when i play it it goes slow when i have a quite big army in the game. so thats not normal. another example is: a friend has a GeForce 7300 GS and has a 3d program design. in his computer it runs perfect, but in mine in doesnt goe as quick OR quicker as my friend. and i can see this problem in many different games, wich are not games that requieres a REALLY good graphic card.AND for this car, i changed all my computer: the board (pci-express) 1GB Ram 160 GB hard drive... anyway it has all good accesories just for the graphic car. and it runs like a GeForce 6800 gt. Also ive downloaded the lastes drivers of the card in Nvidia, so i dont know what to do next. i will give a final example: With a game called Oblivion, when i just installed it, i saw an advertise saying "your graphic card is unrecognizable, so the graphics will be puted in Medium". so whats the problem, beacuse this hapens with many games, my graphic card is not running to its maximum power...! what should i do?

Answer:Graphics Card problem, Already tried everything!

If I were you, the first thing I would do is, download a little program called "coolbits" which is an overclocking app. I'm not saying overclock your card, but it will show you what speed it's running at, and you can compare it with stats from Nvidia. Then go from there. John

hi ..ive just installed a radeon 9200 se 128 mb graphics card on my pc ..my sytem only had 32mb on board ..however it runs very sluggish when i try to play a game and sometimes sticks then runs correctly..is there anyone who can help me correct this prob ..i also installed another 256 ram to see if this corrects the problem ..but no joy ..this is driving me bananas..hope you can help..my processor is pentium 3..cheers garry

Answer:graphics card problem

It all depends on what game you want to play. The 9200se is not very powerful and will struggle with new games, doom, half life 2 etc. You may see improvement if you lower the effects, detail, shadows etc in each games video options.

Wondering if someone can help me?

When I switch on my machine it works ok, but the picture goes into a pixal like state (hope that makes sense?) I have enclosed an attachment to show you what I mean.

My daughter first noticed this when she was on youtube the other day, and its gord worse ever since.

It seems to get worse the longer you are on the machine. I put the computer game Half life, and big boxes appeared on the screen like the game had crashed. Then the computer switches it self off.

I have updated the drivers and have tried another monitor, but its still doing it.

Has anyone got any ideas please?

Thanks for your time!

Tony

Answer:Possible graphics card problem?

If you are getting the same results from a different monitor, then pull the video card and reseat it. If that doesn't fix it, try a different video card.

Ok, I just bought the radeon X700 and i followed all the instructions and installed the software with the drivers, programs, etc... But now, when i check my "device manager", it says...

"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system."

I don't know what "devices" it is talking about. There are only 2 things in the "display adapter" catagory in my device manager, Radeon X700 and Radeon X700 secondary. The "secondary" is working, but not the "primary".

And every time i try to run something that came on the software, it says...
"This program will only run if an ATI display driver is loaded, an ATI display driver is not currently detected on ure system."

I dont know why this is happening, Can someone please tell me how to get this working!!!

Answer:problem with graphics card.

What are your system specs. Make, model, operating system, how much memory, how big is your hard drive? Do you have NET Framewok installed? Are all your Microsoft Updates current? Go to the AMD/ATI website and download the latest driver for your card. Drivers on CD's can be months or even a year old

My sister got a sony vaio for Xmas and it came with an integrated video card. So i thought i would get her the new radeon x900 pro. Today i installed it and flipped on the power, neither the integrated video card or the radeon where sending information to the monitor. We took the card back out and then the integrated video card started working agian. We then installed the drivers and put the card back in, the screen still showed it was recieving no information. Is there sometihng i forgot to do, or this new card needs to work?

Answer:Graphics Card Problem

Possibly but most VIAO do not take well to any changes. If its not too late I would actually recommend taking the computer and getting anything other then a VIAO as they are some of the worst peices of crap I've seen. Sony support is also extremely lacking in the PC area.

Also, there is no Radeon X900. But most of the other X series cards need a seperate auxilory power connector plugged in for the card to work. You also need a decent powersupply of 350 watts or better for these cards - something which most Sony's do not have.

Also check the manual for any changes you have to make in order to get a seperate card to work, you may need to use a jumper of change a setting in order to get the AGP card to work.

i just bough 2 7900 GTX cards ... i currently have 2 6600 Gt cards... i shouldnt need to delete my current driver since its the same one from nvidia but i did anyway... i plug in the 2 new cards it goes threw the system check no windows splash screen never boots up .... ive tried it in safe mode same thing... ive reseated them and all that they are hooked up to the power supply wich is 480 w not sure if thats to low but i would htink it would be enough to at least get windows to boot up? also the power cord from the cards is 2 female so i bought 2 1 male 2 female adapters and basecially hooked up each card to 1 male of the power supply ... would that be sufficiant? .... really dont know why windows isnt booting up with these cards ( also have tried to just use one and same thing) any ideas or solutions?

Answer:New graphics card problem

I'd never use a power splitter for a graphics card, only for case mod components etc. Hard drives, rom drives, and graphics cards should have connectors straight from the power supply. Try it.

Not sure what's going on!!! eMachines Model T3256 about a year and a half old. We played all the games on it all the time. All of a sudden problems started. The games played the most were Backyard Baseball, Toontown, and rolercoaster tycoon. All playable at one time. Installed Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 and things went bad. Did everything i could but cannot figure whats going on. Updated drivers for graphics cards, directx,......

The only thing i did notice is that when I run the test Direct 3D i do see cubes in all three tests but i only see the logo on the faces of the cube on test 7interfaces. 8 and 9 interfaces, i see only the cubes. On the surfaces are strange patterns and colors.

Hello and Welcome to Techspot!

What exactly went bad with Rollercoaster Tycoon 2?
Those strange patterns and color may be caused by overheating. Have you cleaned all the dust inside your case lately? If not, please do it. Clean all the fans (power supply, CPU, etc.), the motherboard, heatsinks, etc. And then try again.

Hi all... i am using a T61 with Core2Duo CPU, T7500 at 2.2 GHz, and 4 GBs of ram(which is useless).  Its graphics card is the onboard Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family. When i start up the computer, my monitor is displaying a very low resolution(4 bit) screen and i cannot set it back.  While i  try to switch it back to the 32 bit resolution, it still shows the 4 bit screen.  Some things i have tried:- Connecting an external monitor still gives me the same display on that monitor. -  when i uninstalled the graphics adaptor driver in control panel and restarted, my screen is back to normal.  But i lose all the functionality of the graphics card such as external monitor, and i cannot place my machine on standby. - i have downloaded and updated the most updated drivers, but still gives me the same problems. I have uploaded the screenshots onto flickr here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/zincbear/3446343443/http://www.flickr.com/photos/zincbear/3446344137/  Pls kindly advise!... Hi,

I bought a Geforce 6 6200 256mb DDR AGP graphics card for my pc. I have all the minimum system requirements according to the box.

I took out my old graphics card and put in the new one. When I start the pc it starts up like normal but the screen remains blank. the screen doesnt even recognise the pc is on, displaying "No signal"

I dont understand what it could be. I have a V266b motherboard and I have all the requirments. Can anyone shed some light or know any ideas I can try.

Thanks!

Answer:Graphics card problem

Does the hard drive light flash at all? If you're computer is booting up like normal, but you're getting a "No Display" message I would assume its a problem with your video card. Try replacing the video card, if it is intergrated video, try purchasing a cheap video card and popping it in there.

I bought a GeForce 7300 GT 512mb card and everything is fine. Games run great and everything. The only problem that I'm having is whenever i watch flash video, especially on youtube, the video is like choppy. It is like I can see the video being cut horizontally. Never had this problem with my intergraded card. Anyone know what's going on?

However there is a conflict with the graphics card a Club 3d Geforce 6600 256MB(PCI Express). I have installed windows xp and service pack 2 and the most recent Nvidia drivers. I suspect the problem has something to do with a conflict between the onboard card and the one i have installed. The card beeps? Or is it the motherboard.
You can usually locate a copy of the beep codes from the motherboard manufacturers web site... these might be helpful.
The Saphire Radeon 1950 is a good video graphics card, but nearly 15 % of video graphics cards arrive defective... regardless of the brand.
Since it is new, I would check with the Tech support people a the Saphire site... or just return it to the seller for replacement.

Welcome to the forum! First of all, let's decide whether we're dealing with a software issue, or a hardware problem. Try borrowing/downloading a copy of a "live" Linux CD and booting from it. If the same symptoms appear, your GPU is likely shot and you'll need a new motherboard. If the machine is fine in Linux, your best bet is to save all documents and other important stuff and do a clean install from scratch. Good luck.

Yes the graphic card is too old.As far as I read on Dell site you can't upgrade the graphic card with some new AGP graphic cards cosit's not compatable(XPS T600 uses AGP 1.1)and new one AGP 2.0

I have an integrated 64mb GeForce 4 MX graphics card (i know its crappy) and I just got half life 2 and it said that my graphics driver was out of date, so it gives me a link to upgrade it:

http://nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

So then I go into:

Graphics Driver>GeForce and TNT2>Windows XP/2000

It then takes me to this page:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_77.72.html

From that page I select Primary Download Site, and then I accept the terms and agreements and all of that stuff. While its downloading, I open this link:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/driver_...ion_hints.html

It tells me that before I get the new drivers, I have to uninstall the old one and whatever else the instructions says not to do, so I go ahead and do that. The download then finishes and I have to restart the computer.

Once I get back on, I fire up Counter STrike: SOurce, and the screen starts to flicker, and a message pops up and says:

Failed to set video mode- resetting to defaults.
Game will now restart with new video settings.

So I click ok, then it flickers and repeats the same message again 3 more times. After 3 times, a message pops up saying:

Failed To Set Video Mode:
THis game has a minimum requirment of DirectX 7.0 compatible software.

So I go and re-install DirectX 9.0C( which I already had before) and its still doing the same time. What should I do to fix this?

Is it the 420 or the 440?

Hello~ TO make a long story as short as possible .. I was having very odd 'hanging' issues , I eventually just reinstalled windows and went driver by driver- I found my 9600GT had a "this device will not start code 10" error in the DM , now I tried all the software / drivers from here and the manf. cd nothing , so I figured faulty card after a year + bad luck. I got a 9800 GT got it in installed the software / driver and got to finally see all was well in the device manager .. it was enabled working fine , had my graphics acceleration back peachy.. Not quite, it asked for the reboot (as it always will) and I figured ok , reboot then go to the most up to date driver done- wrong , PC reboots.. and 9800gt ~This Device can not start code 10~ I repeated the process installed it showed up worked fine could game do the usual.. then rebooted and back to ~This Device can not start code 10~

as a side note I have found no heating issues from .. anything CPU HDD etc all are within acceptable ranges.

I am at quite a serious loss of what to do, does anyone have any idea ?

Thank you!!

Whenever I'd run Starcraft 2 or World of Warcraft, there would be random streaks of lines and colors across the screen. The lines would originate from a random thing on the screen and it would be the same color. Like if there was blood, a few red lines would show across the screen. I'm not sure if it's a graphics card problem or not, but it's really bothers me when I play and I'm worrying that there's no way to fix it. I have not tried another game out. This is happening in both WMP and Realplayer!Any ideas / pointers as to what may be occurring all greatfully received!

I think the answer lies with the nVidia Desktop Manager's overlay controls, which can be used to control the brightness, contrast, hue and saturation output for video and DVD playback.

Hello guys.I'm in a strange problem with my windows 7, I don't know why it's not compatible with my graphics card. A few months ago the card was working fine, then installed XP, now I have 7 again, the problem is that when I try to install the graphics card driver, after reboot the screen in black (it works fine in safe mode) and I have to uninstall it.Windows 7 Ultimate with all updates, x86Nvidia GT-440 1GB DDR3The driver is compatible with windows 7, it says that even on the CD, so I don't know what's the problem Forgot to mention, the screen goes black after the windows boots, at the logon screen, don't even see the mouse! It's booting fine from XP and Ubuntu, only Seven fails

I have recently done a fresh install of XP Pro, everything works fine except the graphics card. The hardware is being found by windows, however the drivers will not install correctly causing the system to crash.Half way through the installation the screen goes black and is left with a flashing underscore in the top left. Similar to a DOS window. The device manager shows the VGA controller and 3D display controller with a yellow exclamation. Usually under display it would have Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX twice.I have tried removing and replacing to no avail.I have also done another fresh install in case it was the OS.Any ideas welcomed...

Okay, i ordered a new PSU to go with an ATI Radeon HD 4850 a few days ago. I get the parts today, put in the PSU, connect all the necessary wires, and start the coputer, and it works fine. I shut down, put in the card, and connect the 6-pin PCI-E connector, and the computer won't start, the blue LED's on the PSU come on for a second, then shuts off, and i have to unplug the PSU and wait a while before i can start my comp again (without the 6-pin connector plugged in. I think it may be the card, becuase the PSU works fine without the card, but i'm not sure.

Hi

I have read posts regarding a graphics card problem relating to Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I bought the game recently and carefully checked the hardware requirements on the box. It just said 32 MB RAM. I have an Nvidia Riva TNT2 Pro64 card with 32 MB of RAM. I have installed the latest driver and updated directx, but when I run the game the graphics are so poor that I cannot even see menu options etc. It is very clumpy - like zooming in onto a bitmap. I know that it is a grpahics problem and am frustrated that the graphics card requirements were not adequately spelled out on the box. Any suggestions apart from buying a new card? My system is a P4 - 1.7GHz, 768 MB RDRAM, 32 MB Nvidia AGP.

I bought my Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 PCI graphics card about a year ago. I installed it and it worked perfectly. Not too long ago I had to do a system restore. Since then, my graphics card will not show up. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, updating the drivers, everything, but nothing works. It still will not show up. In my dxdiag, under Display 1, it says n/a, where my NVidia card should show up. Due to this, I cannot play any of my games. I would attach my dxdiag.txt but I see that we cannot do so. If anyone wishes to see it, I shall email it to you. I am running Windows XP. Thank you.

I installed the graphics card listed above today. Wanting to test it out I downloaded and ran the Final Fantasy 11 benchmark. When I ran it I was a little disapointed by the score, although it wasnt a bad score. I then realised that i probably still had my old graphics card set up still in bios. I rebooted my pc and loaded the bios up, then i went into the chip configuration, and looked at the Graphics Aperture size, it was selected as 32mb. So i tried to change it to 128mb like it should have been but the only selectable options were 8 16 and 32. Does anyone know what the probelm could be and how it could be fixed. Thanks.

Hi. When it comes to computer hardware or programming issues, I'm the guy sat gibbering in the corner wearing the dunces hat. So any help would be appreciated from anyone who can spare the time.

Since I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, my AVS Video Editor programme keeps crashing with the message simply saying "AVS Video Editor has stopped responding" or sometimes I get a message box appearing multiple times saying something about a dll issue(?).

I'm also trying to run the DaVinci Resolve 12 Video Enhancement programme that I've recently installed but it tells me it cannot run as there is "No OpenCL Acceleration Hardware Detected!"

From the little I've been able to understand on the internet, am I right in thinking this is a Graphics Card issue? If so, can anyone tell me whether I can upgrade my graphics card and what I should upgrade it to? My current card is an Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset.

Many thanks

Noddy

Answer:Is my graphics card the problem?

Hi Mark and welcome to Ten Forums!

Any new card you'll get will be far better then yours. Since you are doing some video editing you may look a bit over the cheapest cards, but not in the gaming area.

Both AMD and Nvidia in the range between 50 and 100 $ will do. Or look for something used on Ebay. Gamers sometimes sell their couple of years old graphic cards for cheap.

BTW, there are some G41 Express drivers available for Windows 10 - from Softpedia.

I have a Ge-force 4 graphics card with an Iiyama E431s monitor. Once I had downloaded and installed the new drivers off Nvidia it went mad. As soon as there was movement on the screen my screen went black for about 2 seconds and then back on. I couldn't use the computer with my screen flashing on and off like this, so I rolled back onto the original windows drivers. The flashing has stopped, but I really need my graphics card to function fully in order to do much. Is it a memory fault. Or could it just be bad drivers?

When ever I play Everquest2 or Guild Wars, some while in the game my picture freezes and a sound comes from my PC. The PC locks up, and the only option I have is to switch the PC off from the On/Off button.

The card I have is a nVidia 6600GT 250mb, with the latest driver nvidia driver.

Could this be a graphics card problem?

Answer:Is this a graphics card problem?

Something like that is usually caused by heat. Next time that happens, immediately restart the computer and check the GPU temperature in the nVidia control panel as soon as possible, and use SpeedFan or a similar program to check your CPU and motherboard temperatures (you can also do this in the BIOS, but don't spend too much time in there, or you won't be able to see your GPU temperature quickly enough). The temperatures will always be higher after the system has been under a load, but if any of them look abnormally high, you've probably found your problem. Look in your case and make sure all of your fans are spinning, and check for dust or other things that might be restricting your airflow.

There are many other possible causes -- hardware problems often don't show up until the system is put under a load and parts get warm. It could be the video card, PSU, RAM, CPU, motherboard, or pretty much anything else. There are ways to narrow this down, such as putting your system under a heavy load that doesn't involve your video card. But first, look into the heat issue.

Atm where i am in melbourne Australia we are having a heatwave - around 40-43 degrees for the last few days (which i believe is 104-111 in fahrenheit) and my computer has been working fine. we have cooling through the house which has been keeping the temperature down abit but still feels quite hot.

tonight when i tried loading a game, the screen started flickering a bit and these blue dots and random lines started to appear then the screen turned off and had no signal. i turned the screen off and on and it came up with blue screen and reset. on the start up screen it loaded but had random symbols up and down some places and sometimes it did't even start windows.

i believe this may be caused by the graphics card overheating, but not 100% sure.

i saw that some of the external vents where quite dusty so i got rid of the dust, and opened up the box and removed a bit of dust around the cpu fan and graphics card fan and generally cleaned any dust that was around anything.

i put it together, and left it for about an hour. i turned it on again and it started with a few of the graphical glitches, so i started in safe mode and reset it and restarted it again, and it started normally. then 5 mins in it started to graphically glitch up and the screen off and bluescreen and shutdown. haven't turned in on since about 30mins/hour ago.

just wondering is it the graphics card overheating? or is it something else?

My graphics just **** out on me i think. I can hear it running, but when i plug my monitor into it it says "no signal, check wires". I tried multiple wires, nothing changed. When i did put this card in, i replaced the PSU as well and everything was running fine, then one day the GC just stopped. As of right now, im running off the card built into the Motherbaord.
Any advice on how to fix this problem?

The card im using is an EVGA Geforce 9800 GTX

Answer:Graphics Card problem

Check that the fan is still running on the card and that it's power cable is still connected. If possible test the card in another system and also try another card (preferably a cheap one) in the slot on your motherboard to rule in/out a bad graphics card and a bad pci-e slot. Report back with your results, good luck.

Updating computers sucks, don't you think?

Well, this time the problem isn't about upgrading. Instead it's about downgrading.
We bought some spare parts and turned one computer into two so we could have two computers connected to the internet. Now I have a computer with Windows XP installed on the hard drive. It had the drivers for an ATI Radeon 9000 graphics card installed. That, of course, created a problem when we downgraded the graphics card to an ATI Rage Fury Pro/Xpert 2000 Pro. We also downgraded the CPU from a 1250 MHz Athlon to a 750MHz Duron. Everything else, including motherboard, stayed the same. The old, better parts went into the new computer.

So now it starts up very slowly. The first time we tried, it didn't start at all. The second time it started in 640x480 resolution and gave a message that new devices have succesfully been installed and are ready for use. These devices were of course the "new" graphics card, the "new" CPU and a network card.

The first thing I did was, naturally, to uninstall the old Radeon 9000 drivers. I then tried installing Rage Fury Pro drivers from the disc that came with it, but of course the disc was from times before XP. It said "you have to be logged in with administrator rights on an NT system to run this program". That's when I realized the disc was old. I got a net connection working and downloaded drivers from the ATI webpage. I installed them, and now the computer only... Read more

Hi there. My graphics card has a strange problem, thats been going on for a long time now.

So I thought I would come here and see if anyone knows what to do.

I have an X1900XT. My problem is that if I turn the computer on, with the X1900XT installed, the PC just keeps restarting and restarting. I have developed a way around this problem- first I unplug the X1900XT.

Then I plug in an old PCI 32mb video card. I turn the computer on with this card installed, and it works fine. Once the computer is up and running, I hit restart and quickly plug the X1900XT in while its still shutting down (Once I plug it in the mouse freezes, so I have to retstart first and be quick).

The PC doesnt completly shutdown, but tries to restart and keeps making this clicking noise. At this stage I pull the old video card out. I wait a few seconds, then hit the computer manual restart button.

Sometimes it completely shuts down and I have to start all over again, but 99% of the time it restarts and boots up fine.

From there, I can play games, overclock, whatever with no problems. Its just this dam daily ritual of turning the PC on which is getting a little irritating. Any ideas?

My computer:

Intel Core2 Duo E6400
2GB Corsair DDR2-800
Gigabyte DS4- bla bla something something
ATI X1900XT

Thanks guys.
