Intervideo TV Tuner Software,TV Capture Card WDM TV Tuner=Headache:

Recently purchased HP dx2000 Desktop and run WinXPHome SP2 and vendor installed a TV tuner card for me. I run a 'no-name brand' AC-powered amplified TV antenna via coax into the TV Card and set up software for 'antenna use'. Ten local TV channels come in 'off-air' for free.

When I exit the Intervideo TV Tuner program my computer crashes, then restarts and 'recovers from a serious error". . .I have pics of error messages.
Four times out of five the Tv Tuner package runs perfect. . .then it will crash on program exit again and reboot with error messages.

IRQ status reads: >(IRQ 22 TV Capture Card WDM Video Capture OK)

So. . .then I uninstalled the software and went back to the vendor. "please re-install the TV tuner software." Then same problem surfaces again. intermittent system crashes on exit one out of five times.

And now. . .PC TV runs perfectly 4 out of 5 times, crashes the 5th time. Sound works now. I am stumped.

Any ideas from all you bright guys and gals out there? Have seen many posts with Intervideo problems but none matching my case with TV Card and Powered Antenna use for local Off-Air reception of live TV channels.
The vendor described the 'Glaring Video' PC TV package he installed as "good hardware but touchy software! Verrry touchy!" Neither he nor I could find the problem. I'm still learning and might fall un... Read more

I would have posted in WMC but this seems to be a hardware issue.
Device manager only shows one Avermedia tuner.
These are identical PCIE cards.
In device manager should it not display 2 Avermedia devices?
It shows the USB vbox 3560 tuner, it shows an Avermedia tuner.

Oddly WMC claims tuner 1 has no signal?
Another TV program only says 2 tuners available, Avermedia tuner 2, Vbox 3560 tuner.

Also If I boot with only one Avermedia PCIE tuner card, either one functions ok.
If I boot with 2 Avermedia PCIE tuner cards, only one Avermedia tuner card functions and windows seems to call it Avermedia tuner 2

So what is happening you think?
Can windows distinguish 2 identical cards and configure them, or is windows getting confused?
Both cards get hot to the touch when both are plugged in together.

Hi there. I will just explain my hardware in question before asking my question.

I recently built myself a new RIG and then purchased myself a 42inch monitor;

The monitor does not have a built in TV Tuner. And I am interested in having this monitor stream my cable.

So here is my situation, I currently live in Ontario and have a Cogeco Cable Box, if I were to purchase the "Hauppauge 2250" Tv tuner, would I be able to connect my Cable box to my PC-TV Tuner and also be able to see all my channels as I would from my cable box as if it where connected to a normal TV?

If more information is needed just let me know.

Thank you,

- Mike

I've search for a solution to my problem but as yet haven't seen it anywhere.
My issue is with my G50 (Aust version PQG55A-04J01Y) which has the FM tuner (Toshiba FM Tuner FM-100 v1.1.0.48) and the TV tuner (Toshiba USB DVB-T/Analog Hibrid Tuner v built in.

I am running Vista Home Premium (32bit) with all the latest updates from Microsoft.
I can't get the two to work together, they only work separately.
I'm not talking about at the same time. I need to setup each one everytime I swap between them.

* To set them up I open up WMC and go to:
* "Tasks"
* "Settings"
* "TV"
* "Set Up TV Signal"
* Confirm my region as being Australia
* WMC then download the lastest info for my region and I then get to "Select Your TV Signal"
* Here I get to choose between "Cable", "Satalite" and "Antenna"
* I select "Antenna" and click on next
* I then get to choose between:
# "Analog terrestrial (PAL/SECAM)" - which activate the FM tuner
# "Digital terrestrial (DVB-T)" - which activates the TV

If I set up the TV I lose access to my FM radio and WMC tells me that I don't have a FM tuner installed.
If I set up the FM tuner I lose my any TV channels I've already saved.

Why can't the two work together?? :_|

Answer:Qosmio G50 - FM Tuner/TV Tuner don't work together

I believe its because the Radio and TV Tuner are in the same device, and the device can't run in Analog and Digital mode at the same time.

Answer:need of help instaling w7 64bit.pls help

Unplug every non-essential device from your machine. Also, doing an upgrade is ill-advised, do a clean/fresh install if possible.

Most importantly, unlpug everything that you can from your system and get it up and running before re-connecting devices - one at a time.

Answer:Problem instaling XP

Depending on how long you have waited for, searching for updates does take quite a while, especially since this is a fresh install. In all honesty, I'd have a good book nearby while waiting for it to be ready to download. You'll be able to finish it while it installs them.

This MB has 2 SATA controllers. Promise 20378 RAID and VIA VT8237 RAID controller. You are either doing one of two things here. Using the wrong SATA controller driver or connecting the drive to the wrong controller. The 2 SATA ports on the top are for the VIA controller and the ones on the bottom are for the Promise controller. If you use the Promise controller, make sure the controller is enabled in the BIOS and make sure the drive shows in the Promise BIOS that will appear after the MB BIOS. Either way just make sure the drive shows in the MB BIOS or the Promise BIOS.

Hi I dont know much, but Im getting a new computer tomorrow. I want to take my old HD out and put it in my new computer. I just want to move some data from the old to the new then remove the old from the case again. Im not 100 % sure on how I do this. Do i just open the case connect power and ide cable under the originally HD then boot up? Then will it show the new c: and the old d: there?

Or after I physically connect do I go into bios and make sure the new HD is a master and the old one is the slave? Then reboot? I just want to know because I dont want to try this then find out XP automatically fdisks the old disk losing everything...

Thanks for any help guys!!

Answer:Hi, some1 help about instaling 2nd HD

You just have to make sure you get the jumpers correct for the master and slave drives. There is sometimes a picture on the top of the HDD that will tell you the settings for the jumpers so they will register as master and slave. The only thing you might have to do in bios is make sure you have the boot set up for the drive with the os on it. Im pretty sure it automatically boots the master by default. It wont fdisk anything if you dont tell it too. Once you boot to the os you can just drag and drop from one HDD to the next. I did this and it works great if you just want to transfer a few old things. I wouldnt recommend this process though for transferring massive amounts of data, ie 10 gigs.

Hi I have an old PC the hard drive was wiped clean. (I have many old PCs)I reformatted it some time ago with a Windows 98 disk.I would now like to install Windows 95 onto it.I have booted it up with a floppy 95 typed in fdisk and got to the first page but I am unsure where to go from there.Dose any one know of a page on the net where it gives instructions.Ex

Answer:Instaling Win 95 from fdisk

* Make sure you have installation disks from all your applications. * Back up all your data files. * Create a DOS boot disk, making sure it has the commands to activate a CD-ROM if you are installing from a CD-ROM drive. * Reformat your hard drive. * Boot from a DOS disk as described above. * Install Windows 95. * Reinstall all your programs. Don't try to use a back-up tape for this. The programs and the system won't work properly because the programs all have to be re-entered in the registry. The entries are different from the Windows 95 upgrade entries. * Use your backup to re-enter your data files.

Answer:Instaling Windows XP Pro to second HDD

Don't know about XP but all other Windows installation disks will only install to C: drive. Why not download a copy of xxcopy from click here and install the new drive as a slave and then xxcopy everything over. Once that is done make the new drive the master and the other drive the slave and reboot. The smaller drive can then be re-formatted and the kid's games installed on it.

Answer:Need help instaling Windows XP SP2

Hi Dale064

Try installing it from the standalone installer --- --- unplug from networks, disable wireless, & shutdown your antivirus during the install - re-enable your protection immediately thereafter.

When done installing SP2, you might as well install SP3, now that it's available. Your system has been vulnerable to attack without the updates - it's a good idea to keep up-to-date nowadays.

Best of luck

we have a old hp laptop 6735s it was running on windows xp and I found a windows 7 upgrade kit and put the first disk in "acer Upgrade DVD" yes it was a acer upgrade kit and it ran a program and finished then I put the other disk in "windows 7 DVD" and it said did I want to install I pressed that one then I pressed the system option not backup and it started. and copyed files over then went into the next step. I went away and came back and the windows 7 program had crashed and all had frozen I waited a while in the end I force shutdown my computer and then turned on it and the screen didn't do anything and the disk drive sounded like it was going back and forth on off kinda and nothing happened I tried pressing f10 to go to boot menu no response screen blank still and then sent this please help we might take it to a computer shop if we need to

Answer:Instaling windows 7 but it crashed

It might be that the computer might not be able to be upgraded to windows 7. and i dont think using an acer upgrade kit in a hp computer is going to work either.i would check on the hp website for your model of computer and see if there is even windows 7 drivers listed for it. if not its going to be very hard to find the correct ones needed.if there are drivers listed than make sure you have enough ram to run windows 7. at the minimum you should have 2gbs at least to start with.another thought if you are able to put windows 7 in there you might have to check in the bios to set it for AHCI to install windows 7 correctly since if its running xp now it might be set for ATA, SATA, IDE, or compatability etc.

i bought a giga-byte GA-7VAXP and i think thier isnt enough risers or somthing because when im trying to plug something in the motherboead it tilts back and fourth and kind of bends. i dont know what i should do

If i have a cd rom drive and a HD what would the jumer dettings be for both of them.

Does anyone know where i can get some ddr memory at DDR 333 128 MB less that 40 bucks

On the F_PANEL settings does it matter which way i connect the pewer leds and everything. Left or right. IS it ok if i dont connect the soft power connector, my case didnt com with one.

SHould i get a OEM of AMD Xp 2100 or a retail version.

Answer:instaling a motherboard to a case

Sounds like you have som problems....or will have problems. There should be no bending of the motherboard if it is installed correctly. Is the case the correct size for a full ATX motherboard? There are metal or plastic standoffs that screw into the backplane and in turn the motherboard screws to those. They have to be placed properly and only under the holes that align with the ones on the motherboard. The drive settings depend on how you want to connect them to the motherboard. If they are on the same cable set them as master and slave. If they are on seperate cables set each one as master or in the casse of the hard drive as a stand alone drive. It does matter the way you connect the LED connectors since LED's are polarity sensitive. Go by what the motherboard manual syas, not the case.

I've had Windows XP Pro installed on my computer for awhile, but the activation code I was given did not work, so the time ran out. I think it needs to be started from Windows explorer, but I can't get onto that, since Windows won't let me log in. I've already tried a couple ways to boot from BIOS, but I couldn't find anything. Had a lot of trouble with my motherboard in my pc and decided to get a new one. So i ended up with this one click herecheck out the link. i know its not anything special but the expense of a good one i just could not afford. The problem at hand is i have got the motherboard installed and when i switched it on it started up but nothing happened on the monitor it was like it did not access the hard drive so i dont know what to do next. I know the hard drive is working as i took it out and tried it in my sons one and it worked alright in there so i know its not the hard drive. If you have any suggestions i would appreciate it as i cant afford to take it to a pc shop and i have had help in this forum before so i thought i would give it a go and try to get some help here.

Much as I dislike deriding any manf the pc Chips board is one of the cheapest and worst built boards little money can buy.It can be a right pig to set up properly having had much entertainment with them myself. ( I will not ever use them myself).Does proc fan run on boot-up but no beeps and no display..?If so Please post back with spec as supplied.( Proc speed and type,Hard drive size and manf,Grapic card if any, sound card if any Etc).

i went out this afternoon to look around my local puterstore and saw a great deal on Hard drives, 160gb samsung for 70, As my old 20gb HD is almost full to bursting, i bought myself one, but when i got it home, there are NO instructions, rung the store who said it doesnt come with instructions??? SO, can any one reccomend a site that gives step by step instructions (pref with pics) for sure some may think i shouldnt have bought it if im not sure what im doing, but im a student and cant afford to pay someone else to put it in i dont know any one who has the knowledge, and any way its probably a good way to learn more about my puter that i spend so much time with.

Answer:self instaling hard drive?

Its not difficult but do you want to keep your existing drive or replace it with the new one?It may be easier to get someone who knows how to do it to do it for you as the whole process can be done in 10 mins.Do you have the screws and cables etc or did you just buy a drive on its own?

I have two other problems trying to install iTuens and Adobe reader 9.1 updates. I think is a registry problem and would like some help. I run win vista 64bit. this is the error message I get when attempting to install the new Zune update:

No installation Media
cant find the media for installation package 'Zune'. It might be incomplete or corrupt.

Error code: 0x80070002

When I go to the link at the bottom of the error message it takes me to a knowledge base. At this knowledge base it gives me the chance to troubleshoot and download the exe file. None of it works.

Answer:Problem instaling the new Zune 4

I have this exact problem on both of my computers. One runs on Vista and the other is XP.

It's probably just a problem with Zune itself.

We do not recommend automated driver update software. It often finds drivers for devices similar to but not exactly the same as the hardware actually on the system. This can lead to conflicts and blue screen crashes. If you need help finding driver updates for a certain device, please start a thread in Drivers - Windows 7 Forums instead of using software. Driver updates are not always necessary and some updates can actually decrease system stability rather than increase it, so it is usually better not to update unless a device or its driver is causing problems with the system. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Many of us on the forums actually do not recommend automated optimization tools for Windows 7. Windows 7 does a much better job of handling its own optimization than its predecessors did. We especially do not recommend registry cleaning as an "optimization" step because automated registry cleaning causes more harm to the registry than it actually repairs.

In the future, if you need help optimizing Windows 7, please post a thread in Performance & Maintenance - Windows 7 Forums or follow the tutorial enclosed in that forum to Optimize Windows 7.

Hi ,

Just finished my first build ..all went well

Come to instal windows and i keep getting messages saying can't copy XXX file

Ie spiro800.dll and kodak_dc.icm .

It askes you if you want to retry and i did and the files copyed ...but some just will not copy .

I gets to about 58 % and i get a error message telling me to restart machine .

Any idea what is wrong ?

Thanks in advance

Answer:Problem instaling windows XP ( help)

It seems to be a semi-common problem with new builds, and could be caused by a bad disc, cable, or faulty hardware (typically memory in the case of my first build).

First, download Memtest86+ and test each stick of memory in the system. If you get many errors, then you've probably found your error (unless other hardware is also bad in the system).

Answer:Instaling an ethernet card.

It is installed in a PCI slot. The slot that is smaller than the AGP slot. it will have a gap that looks like this

Usually there are 3 or more PCI slots on the motherboard.

You will also need to install the driver for your ethernet card.

I have tried loads of internet sites for this. I have got a partition for XP and one for Vista. I booted the laptop from the XP cd. Now it cant find my hard drive. I tried to disable my SATA driver but that option isnt available on my laptop. The customer care says i can make a floppy drive of the driver and insert when prompted in the setup. But i dont have a floppy drive. And they say, i cant do anything else. I, however, got the driver and tried to incorporate in the xp setup using nlite. But then my laptop doesnt boot from that custom cd. I am stuck. I do however want my vista as well on the laptop. I dont want to clean it. I also am not able to find all the other drivers. I got hold of the ones on hp support site. But still some of them are missing. Please help!

Answer:no sound after instaling win7

First let me welcome you to sevenforums. there are plenty of resources and people to help you so dont hesitate to ask.

There are several reasons your sound stopped working.
It could be turned off in control panel (does the speaker in the system try have a read circle over it?), it could be a bad audio driver (try re-installing it) If you could give us some more information about your system it would help. Is it 32 bit or 64, do you have a sound card, is it a laptop or desktop, etc

Hope this helps

I have a new PC with Windows XP Pro and am in the process of installing all of our games, software etc.

The new PC has separate partitions, including one for all applications ie. so the C: drive contains only Windows and can be easily imaged.

Age of Empires (I or II) both refuse to install to the partition I have for applications (F: in my case). It will happily install if I leave the default of C:, but of course I don't want it there. All the other applications are happy with this set up (so far!!).

Can anyone offer any ideas as to what is going on here? It's all very strange ...

OK, so I've seen this done before on XP and Vista but I don't know if you can do it on 7. What I am talking about is where the OS and drivers are located solely on 1 drive, and all the data and everything else is located on a 2nd drive, by default. I'm not talking about installing the OS and then relocating all your default folders and everything else to another drive. The OS core is located on C, then on D you have User Data and Program Files, etc. Any Help?

Answer:Instaling Win 7 in a multi hdd format

It isn't recommended to have programs separated as they write registry keys which integrate themselves into the OS itself. But it can be done:

You can separate the User folders to another drive during install this way: User Profiles - Create and Move During Windows 7 Installation

i have an emachines pc 3230 that has an integrated graphics unit intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV graphics controller which is pretty crappy. i got a radeon 9600 pro from a freind for free to upgraded my comp and installed as follows..

uninstalled intel drivers, turn off comp, connect 9600 in the AGP slot, turn comp on enter BIOS setings n disabled the intel onboard. in the BIOS there is no option were u can select the AGP slot on or off just an option allowing u to select the MB of the card but left it on auto. save n exit. turn on comp and big black screen.... but when i turn the pc on i can still enter the BIOS settings when the monitor is pluged into the graphics card.

What is wrong? there is power to the card as the fan spins and the pc seems to load up normally into xp but there is just a black screen after the initial boot up and will not reach xp.. only bios
i have checked all connections and card in the slot but no change.

i would think my motherboard is compatable too as it has an AGP slot and the 9600 pro will support 4x 8x.
i have tried the card in another xp machine and that was fine...
so was thinking along the lines of the bios being disabled maybe by the OEM...
system info if needed

Pentium 4, 2800 MHz (28 x 100)
Motherboard Name MSI 6714 (3 PCI, 2 DIMM, Audio, Video)
System Memory 759 MB
BIOS Type Award (07/26/04)

help!! any ideas?

Answer:9600 instaling problem

It is rather strange that it will POST but do down after when Windows loads. Genereally, a driverless video card wil run in Windows with the bios "drivers". The fact that the mobo has a AGP slot is encouraging. Maybe your PSU can't handle the load. I would try to run a swapped out PSU(higher wattage rating) from another puter on that Emachines mobo to see if you can get past the POST before you go crazy! One option is to use your exiting case and hardware and just buy an new MOBO.

I am having a problem trying to re-install Windows XP on my Acer laptop.I am using a set of 5 Acer recovery discs that I know work OK because I have successfully used them before on the same laptop. The process appears to work OK, and eventually I arrive at a message that says ?Restore complete?. Then, when the laptop automatically reboots it goes through the usual ?Welcome to windows? stuff that you see when you switch on a brand new PC, inviting you to pick language, time zone etc. The first thing odd that I notice is that the touchpad does not work, although the mouse does. Then, when (optionally) invited to enter the computer name and description, I am unable to type any characters in the data field i.e. nothing happens, as if the keyboard is not working. The process then freezes at that point and I am unable to do anything other than power off the laptop. I have tried using a 3rd-party recovery disc to format the C: drive, which appears to work OK, then run the re-install process again, but exactly the same symptoms and problems occur.Anyone got any ideas?

Ok guys I am stumped. I am building a new computer. Computer is built and has the following specs:

1. Gigabyte Ga-965P-S3 Motherboard
2. 2 GB Crucial ballistik Ram (DDR2 800)
3. EVGA 512MB GE Force 7600 GS Video Card
4. Intel Conroe e6600 CPU
5. 250GB WD SATA Hard Drive

I am installing an OEM version of WIN XP Pro. This is an Officially licensed, full copy, hologrammed CD with COA.

When the system starts, it asks me to run from CD. I say yes as always and it takes me to the WIN XP setup program. It asks me to hit F8 to agree and then I select quick format NTFS as always. It quick formats it and then starts copying files. This is where the problem happens. It keeps coming up with an error that says it can't copy "x" file. I say "x" file, because I have tried the install several times and it is a different file that it seems to have a problem with. It happens at various times in the file copy process.

I don't know what the problem is. I have tried doing the regular format when it installs - all 2 hours worth! Same problem happens. Even though all parts re brand new - retail - could I have a bad DVD drive or hard drive? I have already changed out the IDE cable to the DVD player. I have not changed out the hard drive cable. Although I have switched ports (SATA slots on the motherboard). I have removed the RAM modules one at a time to see if I somehow got a bad one. I did not yet change RAM slots.

Please help!!! Thanks.

Answer:Trouble instaling windows

Usually this problem relates to a dodgy CD/DVD drive. Try a different one if you have one.

The operating system is operated by Samsung

This is a Samsung x11

Hi I had to reinstall my windows XP (sp2) with a cd after my friend downloaded multiple infections. when I installed it I had to install all the drivers again! How ever the the sound driver which is opens but then says "This will take several minutes" then after three minutes it just dissapears. I then went to a samsung website and downloaded then sp3 version (url)

I then downloaded windows service pack 3 from microsoft and installed it how ever when try to install the samsung x11 sound driver for sp3 it does the same thing.

I've tried 23 times and now 24 but now it wont even show that message it opens fat then closes. I have come to a conclusion that there is an error somewhere. But Sound is needed!! And i have no clue, what could be stopping it. It worked when i firstinstalled windows 1 year ago so why not now. Please Help me I would be very grateful

I can link you to the sound driver

Answer:Sound Driver Instaling does nothing!

Install your chipset, then your audio.
NP-X11 Intel Chipset Driver
NP-X11 Sound Driver

The below only pertains if your audio is Hi-Def.
If your audio is HD, it probably will not install if you are updated to SP3.
I am not sure if Samsung's driver contains the KB888111.
So here is the fix for that.

1. On your PC change the CSDVersion registry key to XP SP2:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\CSDVersion value=200
2. Restart your PC
3. Install KB888111xpsp2.exe HD_Audio/kb888111xpsp2.exe and your Audio driver
4. Change the CSDVersion key back to XP SP3 again:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\CSDVersion value=300
5. Restart your PC, finalize configuration of your PC, sysprep and capture.

Step by step
Goto Start>Run and type in regedit , then click OK.
Click the plus signs in front of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, Current Control Set, Control, and finally, click Windows.
In the right panel you will see CSDVersion.
Right click it, choose Modify.
In the highlighted input window, you should see 300. Change it to 200.
Click OK, close regedit and restart your PC. Windows will now think it is SP2 and allow you to install the UAA and your HD audio driver.
Make sure to reboot and then test your sound BEFORE, changing the value back to 300.

Then follow the same steps to change it back to SP3. Change the 200 back to 300.
(Thumbnails contain screenshots of locations)

If that doesn't get your sound back use Everest to get a report of your system?... Read more

Hi HeartbeatSensor,

After installing Windows 7 you're up and running, but with alot of generic built in drivers. In order to play games properly you also need to download the drivers for your Graphiccard & chipset drivers.

In order to find these, visit the manufacturers website.

Answer:Instaling Windows7 failed during installation.

Hello kiddy,

Might I ask what you did with your old Windows 7 installation?

Also, was there a reason you needed to flash the BIOS? You might consider uplugging the computer, holding down the power button for 10 secs, and pulling out the BIOS battery (google can show you how) to completely reset it, and then try installing again after you put it all back. Only change the AHCI mode in the BIOS (if you want that feature), nothing more, at least for now.

You might also try redownloading (from another computer, perhaps) the installer from microsoft, maybe the one you have now somehow didn't download right?

Are you positive your hardware is able to run Windows 7 (I know, you had it installed before), smoothly? Also, is it all in working order? You might consider removing non-essential devices such as excessory cards and HDDs during installation.

is there not an easier method in windows 8 to instal the video driver via a inf file instal - 1. Extract it to for example c:\lame2. Run cmd with admin rights (ctrl+shift+return)3. cd %windir%\SysWOW644. rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 0 C:\lame\LameACM.inf

Answer:stupid instaling inf video driver, why

"is there not an easier method in windows 8 to instal the video driver via a inf file instal"Probably not."ACM is the ancient Windows "Audio Codec Manager", and most applications that can save audio files to WAV do so through ACM, making LAME encoding through it pretty much universal.DirectShow is a much more advanced multimedia framework that allows several filters to be chained."

I have several problems instaling various software updates the first problem involves the latest iTunes update. I get this message during instalation:

Could not open key:
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact support personnel.

I also have problems instaling the latest Zune 4 update and the latest Adobe reader update. Each give different messages but they have to do with privileges.

Answer:problems instaling latest iTunes

I should mention that I already try to uninstall iTunes from my laptop but I get a error message. Not enough privileges.

Hi peeps,

Everyone i have talked to about this problem so far has no clue in to whats happening to my computer. well ill start from the beginning...
I have rescentaly instaled xp-pro by reformatting a hard drive and installing it, everything went really smoothly untill i went into one of my games "Joint-operations" were my performance had decreases by at least half (to what my windows 98 os had). i was getting a frame rate of 15 were i was meant to be getting a frame rate of about 30. i checked everything i could think of like firewalls to graphic setting and even downloading the new drivers for my ati radeon 9250. My pc precs are as follows:

AMD athlon 2.53ghz processor
1gb ram
ati radeon 9250
and a new motherboard with hyperthreading.

This has got me totaly confused to why on earth is it doing this?
My windows 98 os was at least twice as fast in game than xp-pro, thats not right??

Any wayz i dont know if this will help but my dad also bought xp-pro and installed it the same time as me and he aslo is experienceing problems with video playback (jolty).

I think it could be somethin to do with drivers and that microsoft automaticaly asignes a driver to my graphics card before i install mine from cd?!??...

Any help would be great thankz... :grinthumb

Answer:Performance decrease in games after instaling xp pro

Thanx for the advice but i have downloaded the latest drivers for my ati graphics card and the latest direct x but my frame rate is still around 10-15!
My joint-ops game is supported by windows xp pro. i donno if this helps but i have resentaly installed sp2 (heard it has some problems). i might un-stall sp2 and try runnning my game on that to c if it works better. Any ideas anyone?

Okay, I have a PATA WD800 with all my movies, music, and pictures on it, and a brand new SATA WD3200 with all my games, op. system, and various other stuff on it. My CD drives are PATA to, and I only have one slot, so their hooked to that. I have 4 SATA slots, so I got this for my PATA HDD

But I can't seem to get the WD800 to work. I'm starting to think it's a jumper problem. If I want the WD800 to be a slave were should i put the jumper on the HDD, and on the adapter, and which SATA slot should I plug it into?

Thanks in advance, Derrick.

Answer:Instaling a PATA and a SATA HDD on same system.

The link doesn't work. Your hard drive should have a master and slave diagram for the jumper setting on it. Follow it and know where the pins are aligned.

Answer:problems instaling a sata drive

Are you installing this drive for storage/back-up use? If so you'll probably need to make it a logical drive and format it.Right Click on My Computer and select "manage".Select "disk management" and your new drive should be displayed there. Right click it and choose "format" Windows should allocate a drive letter when you re-boot. Make it a Logical Drive for storage.Hope this helpsDumfy

how can i install windows7 (64 bit) when am running vista34 bit?????

Answer:instaling windows7 64bit in vista 34 bit

Actually you have 32bit Vista, there is no 34 bit. In order to install 64bit on a 32bit machine (run upgrade adviser from Windows 7 site first) you need to do a Clean Install. This means that you need to make a back up of all of your personal files to an external drive and when you are done, you will need to reinstall your programs as well. If this prospect does not turn you off, then you can do this from an upgrade disk by choosing Custom when you get the choice, then choosing Partition/Format and deleting the current partition (the largest one that Windows Vista was on), then creating a new partition out of the remaining free space, and formatting it. Then you can install it and choose which to install. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
