Creative Sound Card Install

Question: Creative Sound Card Install

I have an old system (Win98, 4 gig drive, 196 MB RAM) that I am trying to install an old Sound Blaster Card on. (Can't find newer sound cards that run on 98).Windows auto detects the card fine and appears to install the correct drivers but I still get no sound. Device manager sees the card as SB AWE 64 which is the correct model. No conflicts are listedI also tried getting the driver from this site but am not sure if it was the right driver. (there were many matches all by different file names)Creative doesn't support the card any more, but I've found several matches for drivers for it there as well. Does anyone know the exact driver to use for Win98?P.S. this is the 3rd differnet Creative card I've tried to install. Is there something else that needs to be done besides selecting the driver in device manager. Another thing, I only get sound (pops and clicks) when plugging into the jack on the cardThe speakers worked on another PC with integrated sound. Thanks for helping me revive this old system. (For my daughters learning games)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

The computer I am working on is/was a mess. I did a system restore and then installed all the updates. Went to install the driver for the Creative Audigy LS sound card - and it will not install. Tried going to safe mode and it seemed to install but it did not. Did a selective startup with drivers not loaded. Searched microsoft and creative. Maybe I'm typing in the wrong key words for knowledge base?!? Anyway, anyone have any experience with this. Thanks!

My left click and right click click on my mouse stopped working after I tried for the last time to get my Creative Sound blaster Extreme Audio card to work. As usual Creative drivers didn't work. so I trashed the card and went back to on board audio, that is when i noticed right click had stopped working. The weird thing is it works fine in safe mode. In regular windows it works while windows is loading and once everything is on the screen it stops working. I have used other mice and no problem. I have done a repair, windows repair install, scan now, uninstalled the mouse in device manager, uninstalled set point and still nothing. It could be a driver issue or maybe irq problem. Maybe a port got messed up when I had the card in ...hmmmm

Answer:G500 issue with right click after failed Creative sound card install

I created two more profiles on as admin and regular. mouse works fine in both these profiles. So could it be a corrupt profile? did a clean boot and it works, it looks like it is a non Microsoft problem.

Hi,

I recently purchased the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX and am having problems getting it to actually play any audio or record any sound.

I've browsed other threads with similar issues on this board and as such have disabled my motherboards onboard audio in my BIOS settings, have reinstalled the drivers from disc and from the Creative website, and even attempted to use Driverpack Online to download any missing drivers. However my problem still persists.

I can see that the Sound Blaster Audigy FX is present on the sound option on the control panel, but it never actually plays any sound. Additionally, whenever I try to play a test sound in the speakers advanced properties I am returned with the error "Failed to play test tone".

I've included a few screenshots that might help make things a bit more clear, and I'd be very appreciative of any help I can get with this issue.

Answer:Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX Sound Card, no playback/recording

First thing, I assume you have correctly attached your speakers to the new SoundBlaster.

As you have a separate sound card, did you disable any on-board (on the motherboard) audio in the BIOS? If not, that is the first step. The on-board, is still enabled, can conflict with the SoundBlaster.

Also, temporarily disable the AMD HD audio in the Device Manager for testing (the AMD is for HDMI audio). Reboot after doing this.

Finally, although this has may not have any affect on playback, the default recording device should be the SoundBlaster "What You Hear". In the Recording sound panel, RIGHT click in an empty area and then check to show Disconnected and Disabled devices. If the SoundBlaster was installed correctly What You Hear should now show up and you can enable it and make it the default recording device.

I'm looking to buy the Creative Lab Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum eX sound card, but I'm not sure how compatible it is with my current system, which is an HP Pavilion 7960. It says you need an available adjacent slot to the PCI card for the Audigy extension, which I don't know what it means.

Also, I saw a picture of it online and I see that it comes with two cards and a black box. I figure that one card is supposed to be the actual sound card, and the other is this mysterious Audigy extension. But what is the black box?

Hi,
I'm working on husband's pc, it is an HP Media Ctr. set up. Pavilion 4100e. We had to do a System Restore when pc was over run with virus/trojan infections. SR resulted in some lost Driver/Controller files, including ethernet and sound card. I have recovered all Driver/Controller files-- and everything is working except for sound.

I have uninstalled Creative Audigy Audio Processor (through Device Manager) and reinstalled (through Found New Hardware). I have run dxdiag, only to find "device cannot start" under problem devices/sound card.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work again? I cannot use System Restore to go back to when it was working, because that would take me back to all the virus/trojan infections and nothing was working.

Any help would be appreciated~

Thanks,

Tricia

Hello!

I got a new sound card today. Installed it, installed the drivers from the CD, plugged in the headphones and it works. But the sound levels are way to low. I raised the volume in all the places I could find, but it's still a bit low.

Here's the card: Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 VX Sound Card - Quality 5.1 surround audio

Here are my headphones: Philips - Stereo Headphones Deep bass - SHP2000/97 - Indoor - Headphones - Accessories

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Answer:Low volume with new sound card(Creative Sound Blast 5.1 VX)

1. Since you are using a separate sound card and not the on the motherboard audio, disable that in the BIOS. If its enabled it can conflict and cause problems.

Are you plugging into the Speaker jack on the card or do you have it connected to the front panel in the case. If you are connecting to the front panel headphone jack, plug the headphone into the Speaker jack on the card and see if there is any difference.

Try the headphones in a different computer to check the volume level. If its low on another computer then the headphones are the problem.

I have installed and been enjoying my "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy" sound card, however there is an annoying Windows log on sound that I would like to disable, but can't seem to figure out how. I have searched through the control panel under the "Sounds and Audio Devices" file and looked for it in the event sounds scheme and couldn't locate it. I'm guessing I'll have to delete it from the registry and was hoping someone might know what I should look for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Remove log on sound from Creative sound card

in the control panel, sounds adn audio devices applet, sounds tab, there under the first group listed which is WINDOWS you will find "Windows logon" it should be the last item listed under the windows category.

Everyone - literally everyone who has posted a review - says the Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro sounds different for them, whether it's better or worse. I've bought one and plugged it in, installed and updated everything, and it sounds identical to my Realtek HD audio, which I hear sounds pretty terrible compared to the Creative card.

The only way to get it to sound different is through the effects, which I don't like and will never use, (aside from the EQ.)

Did I do something wrong?

PS. I'm listening to lossless music through professional monitor headphones.

I have this problem, I bought a Creative X-Fi card and installed all the software. Problem is that when I plug the speakers in he card they won't make a sound. Yes, I've changed the options in control panel, yes i've make sure no option is checked (mute) but when I change from the creative card to the built-in sound card soundMAX it will play fine!

When I run the diagnostics from the software that came with the cd it says everything is fine, drivers, OS, etc... then it says "Test sound" but no sound would come out of the speakers... do i have to disable the built-in card? how? i'm really lost on this one...

Oh yeah I also changed the card to another PCI slot just to make sure it wasn't it.. but yeah.. same unsuccessful results.

Please help.

ok here goes
I have read about 62 pages of threads looking for answers and tried the pinned post here about Creative sound cards
THIS is going to be a long one
I had this computer built for me and have basically had problems updating the drivers, program from day 1
Only change I made to this computer was I installed a creative Audigy Value 2 sound card to it.
I have the Logitech Z-5500 THX-Certified 5.1 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System
My problem is when I went to the website (Creative support) I found the correct updated driver but when I installed it some key features were missing...I tried and tried to research the problem but came up with no definitive answers, got the program to work (but IMHO never sounded nor worked as good as it did with my last system a XP OS).So I just settled.
I found windows 7 forums attempting to get help with a BSOD problem and the sound forum threads
I read the pinned thread by stormy13 on creative cards and went and installed the Audigy Support Pack for my card/system.Would not install. Then I tried the Audigy Support Pack 4.5 and lo n behold it worked! It returned some of the key features I lost last time (all except for Creative EAX console, see attached screenshot)
Also the center channel speaker will now only work on the PLII Music n Movie setting
Any advice, insight and direction greatly appreciated

Did the drivers install from Windows update?

I've owned a couple of recording PC's over the years with Audio cards such as M-Audio & RME Hammerfall.
The reason I ask is one machine was XP, and one was Windows 7, the XP machine worked like a dream. The Windows 7 machine gave me similar errors like you seem to be having.

Hi,
I have just acquired a creative Audigy 2 Platinum Pro (Model SB0290) from a friend, however Windows can't detect it so I can't install the driver. In device manager a device called Multimedia Audio Controller shows up under Other Devices.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Creative sound card not detected

If you haven't done it, disable the Integrated (on the motherboard) audio in the BIOS first. Two audio devices can conflict and cause problems.

The Multimedia Audio Controller is part of the sound device/drivers. When you get the SoundBlaster properly installed that should go away.

On the other hand, the old (and that is an old sound card) card may not work on your Win 7 system or may be defective. Actually, if you have a relatively new PC (or motherboard) the integrated sound on the motherboard is as good or may even be better than the old Audigy 2 sound card.

I downloaded Skype and installed it OK.  The Creative SB Live sound card has 4 jacks, 1 of which is the sound output, which works.  I have a microphone which came with my other Dell computer, but want to use it with this Dell XPS-T500. The problem is: 1.  Which of the 3 remaining jacks to use  2.  How do I test it to see if it is actually working?  Running W2k with SP3, 128mb RAM. Thanks in advance

Answer:add microphone to Creative sound card

If your plugs are color-coded, the microphone jack is typically colored red.  If not, there might be a picture of a mic next to the jack.  To test if it's working....  Go to the program that you need the microphone for and check if it works :-P  Haha, I'm sure there's a better way to test that, so wait for somebody else to post :-)

Hi all,

I've been having problems with my sound card drivers ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 64 from Windows Vista 32. I must admit I messed up by not writing down what specific sound card is in this laptop (Dell Inspiron 1520) and I have not been able to find any drivers from Dell.com.

I do have a CD that originally came with my computer thats labelled "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy" so I was assuming thats the type of sound card I have? When I look in Device Manager all it says is "High Def. Audio Device". Additionally whenever I do try to install either the SigamaTel Audio drivers from Dell or the Audigy drivers from Creative they just say the device is not supported. So I'm at a loss as to what to do!

I noticed this problem when I couldn't use a microphone (which although old) that until the upgrade had worked perfectly. Now when I plug it in Windows Seven just says it's a "Line In". What in earth does this mean?

I'm not too knowledgable about drivers but I wish to learn. I've noticed that there are a lot of great people on this forum helping each other out so if you guys could assist me in finding a solution I would really appreciate it. I would love to be able to talk to my buddies over Ventrillo again!

I am using the Audio Creative Console and wish to record some audio via the "What you hear" input.

It was working fine until a couple of days ago and now when I select "Record" it comes up with an error message "Recording Device is busy now. Please free the device and try again" If I try to record it goes into a feedback mode and is re-recording its own output.

ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS HOW TO "FREE" UP THE DEVICE AS PER THE INSTRUCTION.

I tried removing the programme and reloading the driver but that made no difference, so what next? Does anyone have any ideas?

Operating System: Windows 7 32-bit
Creative Model Number: Serial Number: 05902029451 on a Creative Fatal1TY edition 0466
Computer Brand/Model: Dell
Processor/CPU: AMD 64x2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.60 GHz
Memory: 2.00 GB

Thanks RDS Johnny

Answer:Windows 7 and Creative Sound Card

You have to close whatever program is using the device in order to "free" it.
It is something that's either recording or playing back audio - to be more specific you'll have to check your Task Manager to see what's running.

First step, close all browser windows. Then close all media players. Make sure that nothing is resident in the System Tray/Notification area.

This is a werid issue. I am running windows 7 home 64 bit. I have a creative xfi titanium fatality pro sound card. I just bought a new headset (turtle beach dx12). before I always used usb headsets so this was never an issue. me and my friends use ventrilo to chat while gaming. the headset works but when loud music or loud game sounds are played it broadcasts them to my friends in ventrilo. this happens even when my mic is muted so it has to be coming from my sound card. also if im listening to music on low volume it plays the music behind my voice while I talk even though its not loud enough to be picked up from the mic. I've tried messing with the settings to the sound card but I cannot figure out why it keep broadcasting loud sounds. I have all the newest drivers. does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Answer:Creative sound card issue

In your Ventrilo config, can you change the device that is selected as sound input device? E.g. select explicitly to use your microphone and not some "default" microphone device?

Running XP SP2 on Dell Dimension Pentium IV with Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1 (OEM) sound card. Stopped working suddenly, both Winamp and WMP have error messages similar to "no sound device found". Ran Creative diagnostics, and it passes the hardware detection but fails all drivers. Device Manager shows no problems. Downloaded current software and driver package but did not install because it could not identify the hardware. Opened the case and verified connections were OK. Speakers are OK playing system sounds. Configuration changes the past few days include the 4/10 Windows update (card worked 4/11, failed 4/12)
So, anything else I can try to confirm a failure of the card or a software driver issue?
Assuming the card failed I see three options and would like opinions: 1) the current card is still available for sale, but this seems wrong to install old hardware, 2) current Creative standard seems to be X-Fi XtremeMusic which appears to be the same size PCI card and will fit my configuration, or 3) Creative Live 5.1 24 bit External sound card that is getting good user reviews.

Have you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling the drivers? If no joy with that, try a shareware program called VolumeLock click here. Use the compatibility mode if there are install issues (click here for instructions if required). Not sure if the trial version will meet your needs, but if it does & you don't mind spending US$14.95 (~9), then click here to buy/register it. Appreciate some assistance.

Installed a CT 1790 (Creative chipset: CT 1745A and CT 1746B)sound card with no conflicts in Device Manager in an old PB computer, however, no sound is produced.

There is a speaker icon on the taskbar.

Went to Creative web site, etc, and there is no trace or sight of the CT 1790 (it is an old card supporting a Sony CD-ROM).

The card is loaded with jumpers, but can't figure out what they are supposed to do without some info.

Any ideas of where jumper descriptions or info on this card are found?

I have installed my creative soundblaster card into another tower... This sound card has worked just fine up until the switch, I disabled the onboard, reserved IRQ5 for it, as I don't have any printers or anything in line to use that IRQ, and installed the drivers.

it's not working. In device manager, it says the device is enabled and working properly, but the windows audio service refuses to start, giving the error message "no module found", and the same message is in the sounds and audio control panel module.

Please help? I'm getting severely agitated and I miss my sound.

Hello,
I just installed a creative 5.1 channel soundblaster soundcard. The problem is that when I connect it up to my 5.1 sound system, the subwoofer is not working. Everything else is working, including the centre speaker which uses the same jack as the subwoofer.

Here are the details:
Sound card: Creative SoundBlaster 5.1 It has 4 jacks, 3 is for output (Front, Rear, Centre/Sub) and the other one is for line in and microphone.

Sound System: iBall booster 5.1

i have checked all the connection

I tested the speakers with a 5.1 dvd player. Everything is working, including the subwoofer.

I dont know why the subwoofer is not working when I connect it to the sound card.

If you’re a serious music fan who listens to music on your PC, this is definitely a card to get! At around $200 bucks it isn’t cheap; but for those 200 bones you get an audiophile grade card with replaceable OP amps, a whopping 124DB signal to noise ratio, and a built in 600 ohm headphone amp for high end headphones.

YouTube clip added for box contents and tech info. Clip is 18 minutes.

Performance/Sound….. Listening to Alex Clare’s Tightrope, on his CD, The Lateness of The Hour reveals clean deep sounding base notes not heard on my previous card which I reviewed here (review on the X-Fi Titanium). I’ll also state this is a strong card that’ll get your neighbors up in arms if you like your base. It also doesn’t require a lot of input to push out the volume. In short, it’s louder and cleaner than the Titanium at the same volume; No doubt helped out by it’s 126DB signal to noise ratio.

Pop in a Jazz album like Hiromi’s Move, which is a three piece band featuring Anthony Jackson on Bass, Simon Phillips on drums, and Hiromi on keys and suddenly feel like you’re in the studio watching them play. The Piano is bright, the bass tight, the drums and cymbals clean and clear. In short, the instruments sound like they should, and this is on flat setting using the EQ. I also noticed the bass notes seemed to extend on this card compared to my X-Fi Titanium Pro.

Headphones…. As I noted, this card features a 600... Read more

Answer:My Thoughts on Creative's Soundblaster ZXR Sound Card

thanks for the review.

I been going around looking for reviews.
I ordered this card on saturday and will be receiving today monday(UPS loves me)... cant wait to test it out.

I had a titanium hd card but it only had stereo, so I been using the xfi titanium fatality pro card for 5.1 analog audio. but then I been stuck using my headphones connect to my receiver and not having the same feel as when connected to my hd card.

I like the fact that the ZxR card has 5.1 connecting plus the headphone and mic connection. so I can enjoy movies and some games on my receiver and listen to dubstep and other music on my headphones connect to the ZxR.

Hi, I just received my Creative Labs SoundBlaster 4.1 OEM sound card from ebuyer and I seem to have some problems installing the drivers. I don't think that there is a problem with the sound card since my BIOS and Windows XP do seem to recognise it in the correct PCI slot. However, when I try installing the drivers, I get this message:Cannot Install this HardwareThere was a problem installing this hardware: Multimedia Audio ControllerAn error occurred during the installation of the deviceThe data is invalidI have tried installing Windows drivers and also the one from the CD which came with the sound card but I still get the same message? Does this mean that there is definitely nothing wrong with the sound card itself and I won't have to send the sound card back to Ebuyer? I hope not since Ebuyer do seem to have a really bad aftersales service and are almost unreachable. Any help would very much be appreciated. Thanks.

anyone know a good sound card (Like not over 80$) that will work with my Dell Demension E310 that can run some of the "latest games" (because this term has been way overused in the forums) (I'm speaking especially for games like COD, the Battlefield Series, etc. I have (or am close to getting) a good graphic card but don't really know much about sound cards. My computer only has the Integrated Audio Card on the mobo and i don't know whether i need to update. On a game box i have, it says the "sound card should be DX 9.0c compatible," but, unlike many graphic card reviews, cards on NewEgg and the Creative website don't specify whether its DX compatible. I don't want anything expensive (over 100$) or macho. Just something to get me by. Thanks to all who reply!

Hello,

I have been trying to get my sound card (Creative X-FI SB0460) to work under windows 7 x64, i have followed both a standard method of installation and the "Have disk" installation both failed, the "have disk" method reports it found driver but encountered an error then, fails with a "code 10" error, "the device cannot start".

It has identified my device as "creative x-fi audio processor(WDM)" rather than just "multimedia audio device", but not installed and drivers.

I have followed others advice in these forums but still cannot get it working, if this is a "terminal" issue and cannot be resolved can you please suggest alternatives sound cards for under $60/?30 please.

Also, why do manufactorers continue to do this? drivers have been a particular issue with the increase in componenets being released, but why does microsoft not kick up a fuss about the issue of driver compatability..... just seems to make microsoft and (creative etc) look incompetant and a lack of willingness to suport legacy and bespoke devices. why isnt this dealt with under windows update?

It also continues to inflate the ego's of all the apple products which just seem to work with new hardware.

rant/

Answer:Creative Sound card driver issue

First, your logic is flawed. It's not Microsoft's responsibility to work with whatever hardware, it's the hardware vendor's responsibility to work with the Operating System. Microsoft gives vendors years to bring their hardware and drivers up to be compatible with new technology systems. At one time Microsoft designed their Operating Systems to be backward compatible with old hardware/software. That is no longer the case.

"It has identified my device as "creative x-fi audio processor(WDM)" rather than just "multimedia audio device". That is the correct identification. The multimedia audio device is only part of the overal sound drivers.

In reference to Apple, they control both the hardware and Operating System thus it better work. However, with the number of problems posted about Mac's that I see on some other forums, I have to conclude the "apple works better" is a myth.

Back to your Xfi problem. Since it's being properly identified, it's back to the Creative drivers. Make sure you are using the correct OS drivers. Normally, Vista drivers will work with Windows 7 but I've seen Creative Xfi devices that must have Windows 7 specific drivers and if there are no Win 7 specific drivers it's time to find a new sound card.

Answer:Creative Sound Card not found in Win 7 Ultimate

Install or reinstall the Intel motherboard chipset drivers and see if that helps. On older Intel chipset systems, if the chipset drivers have not been installed, non detection of devices can happen.

Some of the older SB Audigy devices are not supported by Creative for Vista/Win7. Does Creative have a Vista/Win 7 specific driver? The XP driver is not compatible.

I recently purchased the creativeX-Fi HD USB external sound card. Since installing, I have had multiple BSOD's. I don't get a crash immediately but eventually,(especially if the computer has set idle for any length of time) it crashes. I have consulted multiple forums, removed and replaced drivers w/ driver sweeper, have disconnected all USB devices except the sound card (an attempt to resolve IRQ device conflict/sharing). I have disabled all other on-board sound. All drivers for my entire system are up-to-date. This computer ran flawlessly before attempting to use the sound card. The card sounds quite good and would love to get this card to run, properly. Any help will be greatly appreciated ! I have the mini-dump files but not sure if the file extension is useable here. I have a jpeg image of the windows recovery report. If someone could help me to convert or upload the mini-dump files I will include those too (all 11).

I probably should uninstall the older stuff first but I have a lot of Creative stuff on the computer, sound card, all the original Creative software and 2 different Creative MP3 players with play P4S, and whatever drivers have been installed.
What process should I follow for replacing a sound card, and how can I determine which audio drivers to remove without removing the P4S drivers?

Hi,

will the Creative sound blaster x-fi xtreme audio notebook soundcard plug into my Toshiba Satellite L450D which has a 4 in 1 media card reader or do I need some kind of adapter?

Answer:Satellite L450 - Can I use Creative X-FI sound card?

Hi pitza,

Do you mean this sound card?

If yes you should read the user manual firstly. The 4in1 media card reader is only designed for flash cards like, SD card, SDHC card, etc.

This Creative sound card requires a ExpressCard slot (34 or 54).

I have checked the user manual of Satellite L450 and it?s not equipped with such a card slot
=> You can?t use this sound card!

Could you please advise whether I will achieve better sound quality by using the onboard Realtek HD Audio connection that is part of my Asus Motherboard or by reinstalling my Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music Sound Card or doesn't it make any difference?

With the onboard HD Audio I have a digital optical cable running from the Motherboard to the optical connection of the Logitech 'Digital SoundTouch Control Centre' that came with the speakers.

With the Creative SoundCard, I connect a Creative IO Module from the SoundCard and then an optical cable from the I/O Module to the speaker control centre.

Both ways allow me to play music DVD's etc. in Digital Theatre Sound (DTS) or 5.1 Digital Surround Sound, but I was just wondering if one connection was better than the other?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Answer:RE: Onboard HD Audio or Creative X-Fi Sound Card???

I've found that there are pros and cons with each option:

I was using a X-fi Fatal1ty Pro that was mostly stable. Ocassionally I'd get a strange tone being emitted from the card, but not on a regular basis. The big pluses were very good sound quality and reduced CPU workload during sound playback.

Whereas, with my onboard Intel HD Audio I'm finding the entire system to be more responsive, the sound quality while quite good isn't as good as creative's card. Also, CPU workload has increased a lot.

Notable; is that the intel solution is a complete 64 bit software package, whereas creative mixes a 64 bit driver with 3 32 bit support processes and audio controller. I believe creative needs to improve their driver and software with respect to compliance to microsoft specs, and I won't be at all surprised if vista SP1 refuses to work with them.

I'm looking for a sound card for my creative T7900 7.1 speaker set. I guess one limiting factor is that my Dell Dimension 8300 (2003) only accepts PCI cards and not PCI express cards or others. I'm also very confused because the T7900 cable colors do not match any of the sound card color slots I've looked at on the internet. These cables have the following colors: gray, green, black, and orange. They connect the subwoofer to the sound card. I would really appreciate some help. syrk

Answer:sound card for creative inspire T7900

Try these links for more info.:

http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=40153

http://support.creative.com/Product...dfaq:PRODFAQ_10321,VARSET=CategoryID:4&page=0

The first link deals specifically with the 7.1 setup; the second link is the complete knowledge base for the T7900. Based on these, my impression is the color coding on the speakers themselves isn't that important - at worst, you may have to do some trial and error to match up the correct ports for the front/rear speakers.

Based on these articles, it appears you should be able to set the speakers up on as simple as a 5.1 card with 4 outputs. To get the full sound experience, here's a link to an inexpensive 7.1 PCI card from a top US retailer:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...1&cm_re=sound_card_pci-_-29-111-001-_-Product

You should be able to find the same (or similar model) from a retailer in the EU.

Hope this helps.

First let me say that for exactly two weeks I loved Vista, worked great, looked great everything. Then, I added a sound card and everything went down hill from there. Vista takes forever to boot up and when it does the whole thing runs slower than I do. My system went from running on avg 22-26% RAM and 1% CPU, to 26% RAM and 45-80% or higher CPU. Vista does not see my sound card period, nothing I have tried works so far.

Only thing I can see left to do is re-install Vista and hope for the best.

I am thinking of buying this sound card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102188
Was wondering if i would notice a huge difference with it comparing it my onboard soundcard on MSI k8t Neo Mb?
I mostly use headphones though, and my pc is mostly used for gaming.

Answer:Creative Soundblaster sound card question

It will make a difference with resource demands as well as surround sound. Creative al
has a 3d effect when using head phones. But Creative is known to place some heavy
demands on resources that can cause issues with some of the newer pc games.

Recently a audigy 2 zs gamer didn't quite make it. It was then replaced with an audigy 4 pro model with no support for 98. Yet you can get downloads for mediasource and the cd writing addon that are 98 updates. Figure that one out. There is a big world of
difference on many systems when adding a pci card however.

If you install this model or another creative and start having issues with the games, a
few things can be tried. One is using the dxdiag utility to lower sound acceleration and
the other seems to increase of installed memory. New games with bigger demand on a
system resources run into this. The audigy 4 pro runs good. This one seems good from
the information listed at newegg.

Hello,

I am waiting for Creative to get back to me hopefully, but it's been a few days and I am anxious to figure out what is going on here. A few days ago after starting up my computer I noticed I had no sound coming out of my speakers. After checking to be sure they weren't muted or unplugged (my computer oddly stated the speakers were working, but unplugged!?) I assumed they had gone bad but since they were working perfectly the day before I kept messing around and eventually realized they were fine after plugging them direct to my ipod as well as to another speaker port in my computer. While looking at Creatives web site I did see one mention of "disabling any webcam microphone" leading me to assume there has been some conflicting issues in the past but it did not go into more detail. I had installed a new Logitech webcam 9000 a week prior to this issue and on that same day installed some of the Windows Live components. Everything had worked fine all week and I had made a few videos. Prior to this I had already been using a Logitech webcam for the whole year that I have had this computer, with no issues. I've never had a seperate mic to plug directly into the soundcard- the only thing plugged into it was the speakers.

My computer says the soundcard is working properly and is enabled. I also did a driver update search and it said I had the latest driver. But I cannot get any sound out of the card. In researching the problem I noticed several peo... Read more

I just got a new headset from GAME (GioTeck HC-4) and when plugged into my Creative sound card makes a very faint buzzing noise inside the headset. I know it's not the headphones because they work in all my other devices like my mobile, laptop and work with my MSI 970 gaming motherboards on board sound card. I tried the sound card with a completely brand new windows 7 installation on a separate HDD and the buzzing noise is still there but I'm currently using my motherboards on board sound card because there isn't any buzzing

Answer:Creative X-Fi 7.1 Sound card, new headset has buzzing noises

Make sure you are getting a good ground (earth) connection between the jack on the Xfi card and the plug on the headset. Wiggle the plug when inserted into the Xfi jack and see if it makes any difference.

I love everything about Vista x64 but Creative's current drivers for my sound card are absolutely horrible. The sound quality is worse than my onboard sound, which I'm using now. I listen to music alot and game on my machine and would love for my sound card to actually work right, but my experience with the drivers is just horrible. Does anyone else have a Audigy 2 and Vista x64 and having the same problem with the drivers?

That audio card has become the bane of anyone who likes both Vista and Creative Labs.

Every other manufacture of aftermarket cards of any sort seems to have a total understanding of basic IRQ addressing. Seems Creative has a policy (just my guess) of doing it their way and screw the consumer.

I gave up on Creative way back in the day when they had like 50 jumpers on their cards for a simple ISA slot application.

I mean really how many beta drivers does it take to make a simple sound card work?

One option I can think of is pick a PCI slot and in your bios set that slot to manual and look and see what IRQ and DMA settings are open and hope you can assign them manually. It’s a crapshoot but I’ve fixed two for people with just your problem.

Frankly it’s a damn shame they (Creative) seem to have the market almost to themselves and yet over the years many far better sound cards have come and gone. Turtle Beach for one, Yamaha for another and I still use a Philips in two of... Read more

Hi,

Creative Labs Sound Cards, whether a Sound Blaster or X-Fi are all supported by XP and Vista, doesn't matter which service pack you have or upgrade to.

Silly question. Just found out there is no on board pin out for the plugs and the pin outs on the card are for a Creative piece of kit.

Hi,
I recently was given an Hp 503w and plan on using it in my home recording studio. But, when I put in my Creative Audigy2 ZS Gamer sound card, or SB0350, I never hear anything from any of the outputs but the digital out, which only gives me a loud whizzing sound. I have downloaded every driver off the web and I still hear nothing. I checked on Creative's website, but all they tell me to do is check if my sound is set on "digital output only." But, after I followed all of the instructions, my window does not have a box to check. I also checked and windows says that there is no conflict with my other hardware. I'm using windows XP 32bit, with ableton live lite, amplitube vst, fender fuse, dynex usb 2.0 pcci card 40gb hdd, 512mb ram, and a Intel Celeron 1.7GHz processor.
Please tell me if there's a physical problem or if I need to do anything.

Thanks,
Josiah

I thought I would post this since I just came accross it. Dated Oct. 30 /09 Fabe Creative Worldwide Support

Answer:Creative sound card driver win 7 avalibility chart

Hi all,

I'm posting it because i believe it may help other people. I have an old Creative Sound Blaster Vibra 128 PCI Sound Card and I've recentelly installed Windows 7 on my PC (formerly I had XP). Well, Creative, in its site, says the sound card is discontinued and there is no driver for Vista or 7.

After much searching, I gave up finding a driver. But then i tried the stand-alone driver for Sound Blaster PCI 128 for XP (Creative Worldwide Support) and it worked! Sound is just fine!

For people with discontinued sound cards, maybe this solution will help. The drivers I've tried exclusively for Vibra 128 haven't worked. A generic sound card driver may work, as it did for me.

I have a titanium x-fi pci-e sound card on windows 8 pro. It works fine but I cannot save my own settings for sound card. Whenever I restart the computer it reverts back to default. Is there any solution this odd behavior ? Some people say that they cannot even hear any sound out of sound cards. Any idea?

Answer:creative company sound card drivers suck !!!

I found out a solution that worked .

To get the settings to stick after restart, Using the driver and console launcher mentioned above.

CSL_PCAPPBETA_LB_2_61_49
SBXF_PCDRV_WIN8_BETA_US_2_18_0015A
After installing them then setting the settings you want for your sound card. Put your computer into Sleep mode, then wake it up, and your settings will be saved.
Whenever you make changes to the sound cards settings, make PC go into sleep mode, then wake it up, settings will be saved always after restart.
Final drivers for windows 8 should be out on November 30 for a lot of the Creative Sound Cards, see here >> http://support.creative.com/KB/showa...sid=61105&h=13
I hope that helps.

my dell 9200 computer has built in audio i am going to change to a creative sound cardi like the xtreme gamer but is it worththe extra money over the standard xtreme audio card using it for games and some music

Answer:creative x-fi xtreme audio or gamer sound card

Like anything, your system will be as good as the weakest link. So, if your speakers and cabling are good quality then it wll be worth the extra cash. If not, then it's unlikely you'll see (or hear!) a significant increase in audio quality.

Hi,

I am planning to buy a Hercules Digifire 7.1 and planning to but Creative 5.1 or 6.1 speakers. I was told by a dealer that Creative speakers work well only with Creative sound cards. With a Hercules the sound quality might be poor. Is that so?

not really. creative's speakers use connectors which are mostly only work with creative's soundcard.

So, yesterday I was happily playing my music with the nice working drivers. Along comes the new Windows 10 November update to download and install, it went in fine without any issue. To my surprise the next day my speakers wern't working in full 5.1 (I have the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card) and the EAX effects didn't sound right (had no depth). So I then checked to see if the Creative Audio Panel software would open and inevitably it didn't.

I then went online and re-downloaded and installed the appropriate driver from the Creative Labs website, restarted my computer and then tried to open up the Creative Audio Panel... SUCCESS!! At least I thought until I spotted that not all the tabs at the top of the window were there (Crystalizer, EAX and X-Fi CMSS 3D). Then I decided to test with some music and again not working in 5.1 (even though it's specified in the software) and a weak quality in sound.

Please say this isn't what i'm going to have to listen to for months upon months. If anybody could help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Answer:Windows 10 November Update - Bad Creative Sound Card Driver

I used to have a creative sound card and the main issue I encountered was poor driver support by them. This was back in the Win7/Win8/8.1 days and I would have thought they would have remedied the situation by now.

Sorry about your issues.. I hope they update the drivers for you soon,
Jeff

I want to know why this is happening.

I have a Creative Labs Live 5.1 sound card (model E400 I believe). When I set up XP, Microsoft automatically installed a driver for it. I noticed that with this driver, the sound was so loud. I would have my volume at like 10% or so, and it would be at "normal volume". At 30% it would be loud and you get the point...

Then I installed the creative labs driver from 2003 ( the latest one). The sound is WAY lower. With this new driver, to have the same volume as the microsoft one at 10%, this one has to be at 80% or higher. I cannot notice any difference in quality of sound- sounded the same with both drivers...

Answer:creative labs live! 5.1 sound card driver question

you need a sound engineer with sound wave meter on this one.

sounds like the new driver is running less wattage (current) through the
actual speaker.

like I said a sound engineer in a lab could tell you the difference in the
drivers.
but I would just enjoy the sound.

P.S.
how old and what type of speakers are you using.
do they have the base and treble as separate cones????
the new driver probably is taking this into account and is moderating the
wattage going in to each speaker to give a better tone from each speaker.

like in the old days of 8 tracks---
massive stereo speakers that come up to your waist-----little computer speakers sound just as good at no where near
the cost.

Bit confused as ive read that when u use the SPDIF output on soundcards they will not process the audio but act as a through put. If your watching a dvd in 7.1 sound then thats fine by me, but if i'm playing music in mp3 connected to a stereo using the spdif cable just for stereo sound output, will the card process the sound so i can use effects like the new Crystalizer to improve mp3 sounds ?

Great card from what ive read but why they never included connectors for front pc case audio jacks is just an oversight, albeit an intentional 1 to make people by the breakout box.

Answer:Im thinking of getting a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music card

Nice enough card, but Id recommend the Auzentech Prelude. Most highly praised card in the audio community and well worth the money IMO>

Unable to Record

My sound card stopped working about a month ago on my Dell computer which uses Windows 98.

A friend, who was temporarily in town, installed a Creative Sound Blaster card, (AWE 64 -16bit) which he no longer needed, in my computer. During installation, it asked for the Windows 98 disk. After installation was complete the sound card appeared to be working. I was able to play songs using Windows Media Player.

This morning I tried to record an MP3.

I opened the Volume Control window and was able to adjust the Master Volume Control for Playback but when I switched to the Recording Control panel, the Master Volume control was washed out.

When I clicked Options | Properties, clicked Recording then clicked OK to open the Recording Control window, the Master Recording Volume control was not working. It was washed out. The volume controls for MIDI, CD Audio, Line In, Microphone and PC Speaker were all working properly. The Select boxes were all checked.

I would appreciate any help on my recording problem.

I have installed a new Creative "Soundblaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro USB Audio System with THX SB1095" soundcard. I disabled the old on-board card. Note: It's USB. When I start-up, shutdown, sleep or wake, I get a very loud POP thru the speakers.

I contacted Creative and they told me this is "normal" because Windows 7 is polling the USB input to see if there is anything connected. This doesn't sound right, because it happens when I shutdown or sleep, too! Why would Windows poll a usb input while shutting down or going to sleep? Anyway, it sounds like a bug to me.

If it's not, is there any way to have Windows poll without issuing an audible POP?
Thanks for your help and advice.

Answer:Creative USB sound card causes loud pop at startup and shutdown, sleep

There is an option, on most PC's to have the USB ports power active all the time. This would eliminate the pops with standby, but would not stop the pop when booting up (it is turning on USB port power) and the SoundBlaster is powering on or when Powering off when it's dropping power and the SoundBlaster is powering off.

It's really a design issue in the SoundBlaster. Basically the SoundBlaster needs to work with the PC, not the PC must work with the SoundBlaster.

They (Creative/SoundBlaster) could have eliminated this in design. Many Peavey (and some other brands) solid state guitar amplifiers do this when powering on and/or off, Peavey finally redesigned the power supply in newer models and eliminated the pop.

I have recently purchased the T5900 5.1 speakers from Amazon UK for use with my Toshiba Qosmio G10-100. Firstly, can anyone tell me if my Qosmio supports 5.1 audio output, I'm pretty sure it does with it being a Media Center PC and all, and secondly, can anyone recommend an affordable sound card that would enable me to use the 5.1 speakers properly, playing background noises etc. I have seen that Creative offer options here but I'm not sure specifically what I need... A PC Card would be good seeing as it's a laptop I have.
Thanks, James

I recently bought a dell computer second-hand from my friend, who had XP installed on it. It came with a subwoofer and a set of 4 regular speakers. On it, he had installed a form of creative volume control in addition to windows volume. The way it worked was he had the windows volume set to 100% at all times, and the creative volume control around 3% for regular browsing, 10-25% for gaming and 50% or higher for rocking out with music. I recently acquired windows 7 home premium x64 and upgraded my operating system. My soundblaster card has all the necessary drivers and the audio is all hooked up properly, and the only thing missing is this form of volume control. After looking around for the old software and trying a few different freeware and shareware programs, nothing has pulled through for me; any suggestions?

Answer:Creative sound card, windows 7 compatible volume control?

What exact sound card do you have?

Have you checked creative's website for additional software that goes along with the driver of your card? Is the windows volume not sufficient for you, or do you just want the extra ability for volume control?

If you installed the creative driver, have you checked in the audio control panel that's built into the driver?
