USB/Printer Update

Question: USB/Printer Update

First I want to Thank all that help me with my printer problem(From Oct.24th post) After messing with the darn thing I finally figured out that where the USB cable connects to the printer bit the dust. Does anyone know if this can be fixed? ( It's a Epson CX5200) It still works as far as scanning, just can't get it to connect with my computer. I took it over to a friends house and installed the software on his computer and it still wouldn't work being hooked up to his computer. If not I would like your opinion on either the Epson RX620 or the Epson RX700, pro's and con's. I know Epson has had some bad talk, but I've used a Epson printer for years and have been quite pleased with them. Thanks.

Preferred Solution: USB/Printer Update

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Unfortunately printers are getting to be like Bic lighters...when they run out of gas just throw em out.Look up Tom's Hardware Guide on the web for hardware reviews. Pick your price range and go from there.

I had an old canon printer a couple years ago that I long discarded. I also went through the process of uninstalling the printer driver through the printer section of windows 10 setup as well as uninstalling it through the Canon installed software in the all apps section of windows. I did the best I could to make sure all parts were removed before donating it to a friend. My friend still gets a windows update message indicating that the Microsoft still no longer has an updated version of this canon driver available. To this day, Windows Update still attempts to try to update this ghostly installed driver. Does anyone know where to find this ghostly driver and remove it once in for all? Other than poking around the registry is the only place I haven't tried. I appreciate any advice.

My Mom has an HP laptop. She recently purchased a new HP printer and I have been trying for the last 4 days to get it to install/connect. I've been in touch with HP but the links they provide aren't resolving the issues.

First, using the CD that came with the printer: hangs up at around 85-90%. It doesn't not show up as installed. I copied the CD to the desktop, modified Setup.exe in CFFExplorer and Run as Administrator and it appears to completely install; however, when I go to Device Manager, it says no driver is found. I sometimes have the option to update and sometimes that seems to work but I can't access it through Add a Printer (which has the green bar run across the top, then pulsate and freeze).

Trying to install using the driver I download from HP results in no installing screen appearing but it does hang up in the background and the only way to stop it is to Restart. The same thing happens if I try to use HPs Wizard.

I've installed several HP printers through the years and not had this much trouble. That doesn't even include the dozens of times I've had to reinstall my own HP printer because of its contrariness!

Additionally, attempts to uninstall the old printer results in it hanging up/freezing soon in to the process, whether I try to uninstall from the Start menu, file or Uninstall program. I'm not even being able to get the Windows Updates to install - that process also just hangs up/freezes. FYI - I've not checked her machine in a while so there are ma... Read more

Answer:Unable to install printer drivers, uninstall old printer, update Windo

Hi columbia93, welcome to 7F!

Printers are touchy animals, when installing any printer you have to follow the install procedures exactly as described by the manufacturer.

This may be the root cause:

Quote:
FYI - I've not checked her machine in a while

Not that you haven't been able to check it, but there may be an accumulation of problems on your Mom's machine that also are stopping the update process.

I am trying to find one of 7F's tutorials on improving performance of a computer, but it boils down to cleaning out all detritus that a machine can accumulate of a period of time.
I did find this but there is another one: Hard Disk Space - Free Up and Recover The first three options would help

Run Antimalware/virus scans, run a Check Disk then a sfc /scannow then try to uninstall that old printer driver, and if that works shut down the machine, and try to install the printer without the HP disk, when it looks, but asks if you have the disk say no and allow the OS to install what it has.
It is my understanding that HP Printer drivers already come with Windows 7.

But do the cleanup first and see if that helps.

Can a Firmware Update and/or drivers on printers be reversed?I am new to BleepingComputer, so I do not know which Forum to post this to, as this issue involves multiple forums: Hardware (HP Printers), Software (Firmware & Drivers), Operating Systems running Windows 2000 and Windows XP.At my workplace, we have many HP Printers on the network. HP sent me a link promoting HP Easy Printer Care. I figured I would try it (big mistake) because I take care of all of the printers in our building. So this Easy Printer Care tells me that there is updated Firmware for my printers. So I get the firmware and install it. Of course, HP didn?t really explain how to install it. I had to look it up to actually do the install. After installing it, HP tells me that the Firmware Updates still need to be updated!?!Now the end users are having problems when they print. Multiple users are having the same and or different problems. The problem that has the most reports to me are: When someone is printing a document and they want to change it from portrait to landscape, they click on properties and receive an error message that reads:Function address 0x2e2a5aa caused a protection fault. (exception code 0xc0000005) Some or all property page(s) may not be displayed. Click OK.Then another windows pops up saying: Operation could not be completed. Click OK.The function address is always different (for different users or systems) The exception code is always the same. The User c... Read more

Answer:Can A Printer Firmware Update And/or Driver Update Be Reversed?

You can go to Device Manager and find the printer and in properties it gives you the option to "roll back" the driver to a previous version. A firmware update and driver update mean 2 different things, to me anyways. My understanding is a firmware update offers "improved" instructions to the onboard chip of the device. What does HP say about the problem?

Answer:Printer issue update.

Previous thread
You should have added to that thread instead of starting a new one as it contains the important information eg printer model, os, etc
Uninstall the HP software on the wife's pc and start again. It is absolutely vital that you work in the right order. It is usual to install the software first and then when prompted to switch on the printer and then connect. Instead of using the cd provided you could try going to the HP site and downloading the latest versions. Try a different USB port too.
In the meantime you seem to have 2 printers. Are your PC's networked? If so you could share the printer.

Been back to PC World this morning. Told them what was wrong. No hassle. Just said I could have a new one. Didn't even try it. Accepted my word that there was a fault. None in stock at the store I visited. Didn't want another make or model as I had just bought a new set of cartridge inks.So the assistant went onto their web site and a brand new one is being sent from another store where they have several in stock. So hopefully will pick a new one up on Friday. Can only say I have had good service from PC World. Just stated the facts in a pleasant manner and had the correct paperwork. Will update you on Friday

on friday can you give a link to (presumably) your other thread about this as it is rather confusing only having an update on something.Or maybe you meant to add the update to your other thread and have started a new one by mistake.Hope you get your new printer ok.

Hello all,

I have Windows XP and MS Office 2003. Recently I realized I haven't updated Windows or Office in years so I upgraded to Windows XP Service Pack 3 and even did an update on Office 2003 (don't recall the details). After that when I ran Office an error message said that my Adobe Acrobat 5 was no longer compatible with it (which is understandable since it is so old)... So I uninstalled Acrobat 5 and installed Acrobat 9.

After all that, I realized my printer no longer worked. I don't know which step caused it, but I can't print at all. I figured it was a driver problem, so I reinstalled the current drivers from the Dell website (my printer is a Dell 922 all-in-one) but the problem remained. The curious part is... I don't think its a problem with the actual printer, because:
a) In most programs, an error occurs before I'm able to select any printer, and it won't let me even choose another printer like the Adobe PDF maker ("virtual printer").
b) Scanning from the same printer works perfectly.... verifying the connection seems fine.

Take a look at these crazy error messages (IMAGES ATTACHED). One is from notepad, one from word, one from internet explorer, and one from when I click on "printer properties". Isn't that messed up? It's a different error each time. And they remain even after multiple attempts to reinstall drivers and multiple computer restarts.

Can somebody PLEASE help??? It's a mystery!!... Read more

I keep getting Microsoft ? ?Printer-6/21/2006 12:00:00 AM 10.0.15063.0? updates coming up in wushowhide. Originally two of them, both were selected to be hidden. But every time one keeps coming up and there is only one listed under hidden updates.
I have an old Canon printer and use the old drivers with no problem, but MS keeps trying to install there drivers that don?t work well. I tried updating the printer in device manager and it did start to down load a new driver so it looks as if this update is related to the Canon printer and MSs desire to stop it working. How do I actually stop it being available as an update and is it actually for something else?

Answer:Can't get rid of Printer-6/21/2006 12:00:00 AM 10.0.15063.0 update

That driver repeatedly fails to install here with a digital signature error and appears to be a bug unrelated to your printer. You can just ignore it or it can be hidden through Powershell.

Hi all, I have 2 laptops I use regularly, both with Windows 10. This little one is 32 bit, the other 64. Since the last WIndows update, my HP 4630 Officejet driver won't work. In the control panel printer screen the HP printer displays in gray, and print jobs are ignored. I've uninstalled and reinstalled every time I want to use the thing. I don't want to have to buy a new printer; there isn't a thing wrong with it. And since this issue is the same on both computers since the last update, I'm assuming this is a Windows issue. I am not a computer geek and have no clue about getting into the guts of the thing to fix stuff. I'd have to take it somewhere. Is that what it's coming to?? I now need to print up a shipping label and will have to uninstall that driver and download yet again for the umpteenth time. Help!

However, after the update finished (and it took most of a day's time), my printer was no longer there......nothing in the printer folder. I tried to add it, and I got a message telling me that it could not be completed....printer spooler service not active.........I dont' know anything about this, as I do not "spool" my printer.........can anyone help me??????? Please?????

Answer:Windows update removed my printer!

Most all printers use the spooler service. If you go into the service section you will see a Print Spooler option. Check the status and make sure that is turned on. Also you may want to try a complete reboot after the update it may have updated somthing in relation to the print spooler.

Hello,

First of all let me explain the situation.

Before the latest Windows 10 update I had all computers connected to the Homegroup and we could print everything just fine on our HP Laserjet 3050 printer.

Now after the Windows 10 update, it seemed to screw something up. I had to reinstall Windows on my mothers computer and also mine.

I installed the printer which is connected to my mothers computer up and prints fine there.

Now the issue, I can not seem to get it to print or even detect on every other computer now.

All computers are back on a new homegroup with printer sharing on.

I changed all advanced homegroup settings to optimal settings which discovery and everything is on.
Can someone please help out and maybe know something I am forgetting?

EDIT:
I got it working. I had the printer set to wrong port, set it properly and then had to reconnect to homegroup on every other PC and it showed back up.

I posted elsewhere earlier that when I tried to install an OKI C511 printer in Win 7 Home Premium (32 bit) it could not find a driver in Windows Update. This is puzzling since I had installed the same printer on another Win7 computer and the driver was found in update.

I've now gone into OKI's website and followed their advice about installing a plug and play printer; when I tried the first part of installing the same printer on another Win7 computer to the point where I select OKI from the list of manufacturers, it does list the C511 as one available through Windows 7. (I did not proceed beyond that as I did not want to complete the installation on that computer).

So why did not the Win 7 on which I was trying to install this printer not pick it up? And, I am never offered any Optional Updates on that computer either (although I have the "Give me recommended updates..." box checked).

I would really welcome any suggestions about these problems.

Regards

John

Dear Sir:

I am trying to install the driver for HP Deskjet 6122. The manufacturer does not provide a driver, so I have to use Windows Update from the Add a Printer under Devices and Printers. The driver I am to look for is HP Deskjet 990C. However... it is not in my list, so when I go to update the list, it searches for a tiny bit, and then gives me a message, "Windows was unable to get a list of drivers from Windows Update. Please try again later".

I do not know what to do, and all of my searches for how to figure this out are failing. I tried doing it from my administrator account, and still no change. Under my settings of Windows Update, I have it set so that all users can use it, and that it automatically updates. But this driver list seems a bit different.

I really need this printer for grad school. Can you please help me?

You shouldn't rely on update scanners because they're not 100% accurate and they tend to display erroneous information. If your printer is working okay, that's the main thing.

Answer:epson printer update remover

When you first bought your printer it should have had an Epson driver included and that is presumably one that allowed you to use compatible cartridges. I would go to control panel, printers and uninstall the existing printer driver (you might also find it under Add'Remove Programmes) which ever method you use run CCleaner afterwards to get rid of any unwanted files and registry entries. Then re-install your old printer driver OR as a second thought go to Device Manager and find the entry for the printer go to Properties and see if you can Roll Back the driver to the one you had previously installed.

Ladies & Gents

Recently I began to update some machines that have not been updated since 2007. They are on winxp pro sp2. At the start I did not know that the win 03 server had the ability to push updates to the clients. So I forced the first one to use the regular windows update site and brought it fully up to date with sp3. All seamed fine.

A few days later it was reported to me that they could not print to one of the printers anymore. So at my next visit I attempted to fix this printer issue. The printer is shared from another client and works just fine. It shows up in the win 03 server, and I can print a test page from it and to it.

When I try to add a printer on the client I get an error message '....unable to add the printer connection, the specified printer has lost its connection to the server.'

This post seem to indicate that the problem may be sp3
http://forums.techguy.org/windows-server/855120-solved-network-printer-problems.html

Any other thoughts?

Most of what google yields is quite dated. One post even has a big log registry hack to follow. I don't really want to go there.

This is the first time I have ever used win 03 server, so.... I am acquainted with 3.0, 95, 98, me, xp and vista. Now I use Debian Linux on every thing.

Thanks in advance

I am having issues with both. I have a windows 7 64 bit preinstalled. The windows update is behaving oddly. When you hit the ?Check for updates? it looks for them, then doesn?t find them most of the time, say the firewall maybe blocking it. What is odd at the same time, the windows update icon by the clock, shows it downloading updates. Just in case it is Windows firewall, how do I allow windows update through the windows firewall. Step by step instruction, I am not familiar with the newer windows firewall. I need to know the name of Windows Update executable, so I can add it to the firewall exception list.

Like I said above I have a 64 bit machine that maybe the problem. Hp claims W7 will install the default OS driver. No luck. I don?t know if the other suggestion about downloading updated driver list from windows 7 worked or not due to my issue with Windows Update.

Yes, I am still on a dial-up, so I can?t download windows 8.1 full install plus I don?t know if that will fix the issue anyway.
Thank You in advance.

Answer:Windows Update & Printer Driver.

hi groze. welcome to the forums.

what anti-virus are you using if any?

you also mention that you are on dialup? so are you allowing enough time for windows to download the necessary updates?

i wouldn't beleive that the standard firewall with win7 would block win7 updates?

also can i ask if you are using a original copy of win7?

I have a Windows Vista Home Premium. It's about a year and half old.
I've been having problems that past few days with going to print a saved PDF. I hear the printer start to do its' thing; then it stops, takes an extra bit of time, then prints.
Not today. ugh! There have been a couple of new downloads since Sunday. I think that they have caused the problem.
Today, I did a system restore to earlier this morning. (didnt help.)
I did another system restore(thought I'd be smart and restore to the first of Feb.) not smart after all.
I don't know what else to do. I'm desperate for the use of the printer.
The printer is an HP Ofiicejet7310xi All-in-One ( no longer supported and about 4 or so years old. was running like a champ til this morning.)
Any help would be soooo much appreciate.

Answer:Solved: New update from HP is causing printer to not function. help?

I finally figured this out. HP did a couple of updates. of which it made my cd for the installation of this printer to work only with Windows XP.
It no longer will work to reinstall the cd with Vista. They want me to buy a new printer.

I can still install and run the printer from an XP machine I also can still network the computers; just not print from the Vista. LOL! I can go to the XP machine and open the network and print anything off of the Vista from the XP. sigh......
at least it works. I cant afford a new printer.

Hi all,

I installed SP3 on Windows XP Professional recently and it seems to have completely messed up my file and printer sharing.

Now, every time I start windows I have to run the Network Setup Wizard in order to get my filesharing up and running, otherwise it just won't work. The PC can access shared folders on other computers, but the other computers can't access shared folders on this machine. The files appear to be shared, but they are not accessible from other computers until I run the wizard. Very strange!

I should stress that this was not a problem under SP2, and all other computers on the network are able to fileshare between each other without any issues.

Any suggestions on how I can get to the bottom of this bizarre problem?

Thanks,

Marronza

Hi, I'm new here. Desperate to make a thread regarding this issue.
Yesterday (15 November 2017), I installed an update
2017-11 Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4049011)
2017-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4048954)

And bunch of other Microsoft Office update. But I think one of these update is the main culprit of my problem.
Today, my dot matrix printer Epson LX-310 can't print any work document. Switching to other non dot-matrix printer will print without any problem. Tried with POS printer and inkjet printer.
I tried with my other work computer which got updated too, and this problem persists. First I think my LX-310 is faulty, but after testing with my Epson LX-300, same problem happened. When I tried with a laptop runs Win10 that didn't upgraded yet, it prints without any problem.
The document will sit in queue, and then dissappear, indicating that it has finished printing. But printer doesn't move. Connection using USB. My PC didn't have print port.
Anyone experienced this problem? Is there any workaround, since these updates can't be uninstalled.
This problem is ruining my work since I can't print any invoice.

Thank you.
Edit for additional note: Drivers already up to date. No problem in driver.

I just went from XP to a new Dell Windows 7. I have a multi-function printer that used CD drivers on XP, but with Windows 7, I had to install the printer with Windows Update and a scan utility from the manufacturer's web site. All of a sudden after a month, I can't scan, so I want to uninstall/reinstall the printer. How do I do this when it was installed with Windows Update? I see a list of drivers in the DriverStore/FileRepository folder. Do I delete those so Windows Update can reinstall them, or were they already there when I bought the computer?

Answer:How do I reinstall a printer installed with Windows Update?

Let Windows 7 manage the defrag.Uninstalling the printer and reinstalling it will just reinstall the Print driver but this (unlike the original software) have anything to do with the scanning software. You need to uninstall and reinstall the scanning software you originally installed to make it work with Windows 7.***You may be better off doing a System Restore to before you installed the defrag software since this will roll back all system files, registry, and drivers to the way they were at the time before you messed them up trying something new. This is probably the best solution for you.Know that Windows 7 does not need any help with keeping your system defragged the way older Windows OS's have in the past. In fact, you do not even need to manually defrag at all since it is continuous. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I have an HP Office Jet Pro 8625 that worked fine until the windows 10 Anniversary update. It is connected via Ethernet. I can print to the printer fine from iphones, etc. so printer is ok.

Windows keeps thinking the printer has gone offline. When I run the troubleshooter, it says the problem is that the printer is "off". It says to turn on the printer. I do nothing to the printer and just hit "next" and the printer starts working again.

Until later, then it does it again. Have rebooted both computer and printer and still has the same issue.

Hi all,
Hoping someone out there may be able to help with the following.

I have a Canon MG8250 all in one printer/scanner. All was fine on Windows 8, but then upgraded to 8.1 a couple of weeks ago. Just got round to using the printer and scanner and the printer wouldn't work (scanner was fine). Uninstalled MP drivers and reinstalled from Canon site and all seemed fine with the printing. Alas the scanner now would not work. Did the same, uninstalled MP Navigator Ex and reinstalled from Canon site, but no fix this time. PC says "Cannot start MP Navigator Ex" and printer says "Set PC to start scanning".

Anybody know how to fix?

Thanks,
Peter

Hi, my windows 10 HP computer had an automatic update done last night and since then I haven't been able to print anything out. Firstly I received a message saying the print spooler service is not working. I've done a whole lot of stuff since including restarting my Print Spooler under services. Now the problem I have is that it's saying I don't have any printers installed (although my printer shows under printers & devices). I have tried to uninstall & reinstall my HP Photosmart 5520 printer and get an installation error - Error 1726:Failed to add port monitor HP discovery Port Monitor. I installed a wizard from HP website that is called "HP Installation Failure - Port Monitor Failer" and followed all the steps (several times!) and I still can't re-install my printer. It was all working fine until this latest update. I tried to restore my computer back to a restore point from three days ago and the restore failed. I hope someone can help because I have job orders I need printing out for work tomorrow

The latest Windows 10 update apparently killed off the driver for my HP OfficeJet J4540 printer. When I tried to print the document, nothing showed on the window except the FAX and PDF programs which I never use.

When I went to the control panel and clicked on the printer icon, the line underneath said that the driver was unavailable. That's strange, since the printer is only four years old and it was "available" before the upgrade.

So what's up with that? Even the Driver Support program can't seem to help.

My printer shows as offline since the Win 10 Anniversary update. The HP Print and Scan doctor advised a download to correct problem which I did and I set up a new port as advised. The problem persists when online but I can print a document placed on my desktop. With the help of a Microsoft tech I have stopped Windows updates because I am on a monitored allowance. Microsoft isn't smart enough to allow me to schedule their updates to my free period  - - well they did for one day in September of 2015 and it worked well but they wiped out that ability with a cumulative update the following day. The tech helped me ( unknown to Microsoft) because his home computer is on a monitored allowance like mine. Updates used to fail for two or three days before they were installed because they were large and made my access grind too slowly. It is also useless to uncheck the box which says that Microsoft will download updates of their other programs when downloading Win 10 updates - - - that doesn't work. One update sneaked through so I disconnect power to the computer when I shut down.  I am seriously considering reverting back to Windows 8 or buying a Mac computer.

Dont know why every time some major update is installed,
there are printer driver problems. After several hours of
1703 update today I was unable to print to my LAN printer
HP LJ Pro MFP M477 serie. I removed the device,
did restart, reinstalled the driver from freshly downloaded
install pack from HP site. Restarte the PC.
The device had no driver installed :-(
The solution was - remove device and immediately re-add
it MANUALLY by using its IP address (driver has to be
already installed)
Why do I have to go through all this every update?

Windows 10 updates a lot, and with every update I have to uninstall then reinstall my hp aio printer! Having the latest driver doesn't prevent this. Does anyone know how to avoid this?

Answer:Need to uninstall/reinstall printer after EVERY windows 10 update!

Welcome to the Tenforums.

In reading your description I wasn't sure if you actually roll back your driver to get it to work.

One thing you may want to try is to tell Windows not to update hardware drivers. Not sure why it would if you had latest but ....
Stop Windows Updating Drivers
Right click on Windows Start
Click on Control Panel
Click on System and Security
Click on System
Click on Advance system settings
Click on Hardware tab
Click on Device Installation Settings
Click on No
A menu appears (first time) click Never Install driver software.
You may get a warning. Click the option that says I’ll take care of it (not exact words)

To re-enable follow the instructions again and click Yes.

Hi all,

I'm installing a network printer onto windows 7, the printer is hosted from a windows xp machine.

Windows 7 detect's the printer, and then says that its looking for drivers on windows update, this might take a while. However I never see an option to browse for the drivers myself.

I've tried running the exe to install windows 7 drivers for the Canon Pixma i4500 but it says the printer is not detected, well of course it isn't its a network printer.

Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Answer:Add Network printer only looks at windows update for driver

Hello,

You need to install the windows 7 drivers onto the Windows XP machine as additional drivers.

See:
Microsoft Corporation

Also, you need to make sure that the printer is shared so that the Windows 7 machine can see it. You can then add the printer via the Add Printer Wizard or browse to it and double click the printer (\\XPMACHINENAME).

After talking to the Lexmark tech support, they verified my Impact S305 was working properly however it was probably affected by a recent Windows 7 Update download. He stated he has received numerous calls from people all with the same problem in the last week. The Printer will only print once and then the computer must be restarted or it will not accept another print command. The printer will print the job automatically after the computer restarts (no need to hit the print button again). Does anyone know which download is causing this so I can remove it on the Windows Update site?

Answer:Windows 7 update stops printer from printing

Windows updates are customized for your computer. You can look at the dates to determine which updates were installed last Tuesday. If you can't determine which update is causing the issue then use Google to determine what each of the updates were for.Your issue is the reason why I do not use Auto Update. I allow Windows to notify me which updates are available. Then I review them. I rarely allow any hardware driver updates from Windows to install. If there is a need to update a hardware driver it is better to get them from the manufacturer instead. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

This is not a Microsoft 10 issue. When MS does a major update, manufacturers must also update their drivers for the new OS.
What is the make and model# of your Printer?
First, go to Start/Devices and Printers. Is there more then one of your printers listed? If so, right click and Remove Device of any duplicated or greyed out printers that are no longer on your system. Highlight your existing printer and choose See What's Printing, go to toolbar to Document/Cancel. Cancel all documents in the queue.
Once the queue is cleared, right click the printer and Remove Device
NowGo to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc, right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, expand Printers, right click your Printer and Uninstall it. Now remove the USB cable from the computer end.
Now, go to Start/Search and type appwiz.cpl and press enter. In Programs and Features, uninstall any printer, scanner software you have.
Restart the computer. When the computer comes back up, go to the printer manufacturers support/download drivers web site. type in your make and model# and download the latest printer driver for your model.
During the install, it will tell you when to plug in the USB cable to the computer. Do not do this until it tells you to, Once the printer is installed and it prints, go back to Devices and Printers. Hi,

The computer at my workplace updated on Thursday. It installed the Creative update that gets rid of Paint.

Since the update I have been unable to print. It says Printing Error and nothing else. I can scan and tell the printer to print a test page, from the computer, but not print.

I have tried reinstalling the software/driver, but didn't help, also tried in compatibility mode (Windows 7), again no help. Also tried manually installing it via the older model printer feature, but the green bar just keep scrolling and never seems to finish installing.

I need this sorting because the printer is required for the business to run (send parcels etc).
Computer is a Compaq CQ230EA, running Windows 10 Home, Version 1703, OS Build 15063.483.

Printer is a Kodak ESP 1.2.

Yesterday I was notified by HP Support Assistant that there was an "important" new printer driver update for my HP printer. I installed it and immediately the following issue started: The display on my laptop screen is out of position - it is shifted about an inch to the left and down, so there is an inch-wide black bar down the right side of the screen, and the start button and task bar are off the bottom of the screen.

I've tried everything I can find ... display settings, screen resolution, graphics card settings, etc. I restored to a system restore point created just before the software update, but it didn't solve the issue. I contacted HP support by phone, but as the PC and printer are both out of warranty, they were unable to help without a charge. They helped me uninstall and reinstall the printer driver, but it did not solve the issue.

Meanwhile, I've set the screen resolution to a lower setting and moved the task bar to the left so I can see the entire screen image, even if it is not using the full screen.

The computer is an HP Pavilion dv6-2150us laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with SP1. The printer is an HP Officejet Pro 8500a.

Any suggestions?

If I try to run it as administrator and click 'run online' I get a message 'arguments invalid' What has happened and has anyone else had the same problem. The update was Security update KB950582

Hi all,
Hoping someone out there may be able to help with the following.
Thanks,
Peter

Answer:Canon All in One printer/scanner problem with Windows 8.1 update

Hi,
Managed to fix it. Deleted all evidence of printer and installed mini master set up from Canon, but scanner still didn't work, so also installed MP Navigator EX from Canon. All seems fine from PC and printer.
Thanks,
Peter

Hi,
My friend replaced my harddrive with a bigger one the other day.
Everything is fine except that I get [Error number: 0x8007043B] when trying to install windows updates. Setting the value data to BITS and WUAUSERV in regedit did not work for me.
Another problem I am having is that my HP psc 2410 photosmart all-in-one printer will not install properly. It installs upto like 30% and then I get a message like "The system cannot read from the specified device." or "ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE" with "D:\setup\hpzgat01.exe -gate cue -runhpzmsi01.exe -m doc proc" or "D:\setup\hpzgat01.exe gate cue -runhpzmsi01.exe -m photogallery"
Now, I don't think it is the harddrive cuz everything else is working very smoothly. I dunno if maybe I am missing windows files or what...PLZ help me...When I have a problem I usually find a fix on your forum but this one is a little bit more complex and I can't find a fix anywhere. If u need more details about something plz ask me.

Thanks for reading!

I was investigating another problem, which I posted here Audacity Error Initializing Audio when I have USB audio interface onWhile doing this investigation I noticed that there have been multiple failures in windows update history and current update installation never seems to complete. I have a backlog of updates waiting to be installed and the current "Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2837592) 32-Bit Edition" never seems to complete.
Also noticed that "Canon - Printers - Canon MX330 series Printer" has successfully installed 3x almost every day since 10/30/2015. This is odd.

In the "Add a printer" window, there is an option to retrieve a more extensive list of printer drivers from Windows Update. After dozens of tries on different days and on all hours of the day and night, I keep getting a window popping up and saying that windows was unable to retrieve the list and to try again later. Is anyone else having this same problem? How did you solve the problem, if you indeed managed to solve it?

Answer:Win Update wont retrieve printer drivers list

There never was and never is an option to retrieve a more extensive list of printer drivers from Windows Update! You have to install a printer in order for Windows Update to populate a list of drivers compatible for use with the particular printer.i_Xp/Vista/W7User

When I try to install a new printer driver, or change an existing driver, I'm getting "Cannot install Printer.  Access is denied".  There is no GPO applied to this machine, it's a member of a workgroup.  The Package Point and Print
GPO setting was set to disabled just in case.
The user in question is part of the Administrators group, but just to be safe, I logged on as administrator and got the same message.

Anyone having same problem following this update?
I have been using hp officejet pro 8610 for many months without a hitch. I noticed the printer driver was no longer working once Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems KB4022725 had installed. The Printer Driver Version is 32.3 direct from HP.
Although the printer was still visible in devices and printers, I was unable to print via network. I manually uninstalled the update and recovered the printer functionality. Problem is auto update in windows 10 keeps nagging to reinstall the update and the problem is reproducible. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm trying to add a Canon imageCLASS MF7470 printer to my laptop. When I plug it into the USB, Windows 7 detects it, but as unspecified. It says no driver is installed. When I do a Windows update it comes up with other imageCLASS models but not the one I have. I've tried going thru these threads to locate my options but nothing works. When I go to add printer, properties is as far as I can go cause the only tabs I get there are general and hardware. This is a work printer for a jobsite, so of course the disk has been lost at some point, but I need this running ASAP.

Answer:Add a Canon printer with no driver and Windows update doesn't work

Here is the driver page for Canon, just specify your OS, download drivers, install and go at it could be that MS just doesn't provide them. However Canon does for both 32 and 64 bit.
