Outlook sends .jpeg as 102 .dat emails

Question: Outlook sends .jpeg as 102 .dat emails

When I send an email with a photo attached, the receiver gets 102 emails for each one, all as .dat which they can neither read nor see a picture.I am using XP. I have had the PC for a year and until recently had worked properly. The only change I made was to add a webcam about three weeks ago. Could this have caused a problem?I hope someone can help, Thanks, Gill

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Sent Items and Inbox folders became filled with emails on Tuesday and I was unable to send or receive emails until I removed several thousand old emails from both folders (which I did, then the system was running fine again as of late Tuesday). I discovered this problem when I attempted to send 3 emails with attachments, making the emails around 5 megabytes each in size (I did not realize that the recipient's system could not handle any email more than 2 megabytes - thus, my Outlook Express kept trying to send these emails every 1 minute for 3 hours until I discovered the problem). I had to delete around 100 email notifications that the recipient could not receive emails at that size and that my email boxes were full.

I corrected these problems and relocated the emails from my Outlook Box to Drafts (until the recipient can change his settings).

All day Wednesday (yesterday) I was able to send & receive emails without a problem. This morning I was sending & recieving as well, then all of a sudden, I was unable to receive any emails. When Outlook attempts to receive, I briefly see a box with the number of emails attempting to be received, then I get an Unknown Error message. I am able to send emails without any problem and my Internet connection has been stable all day.

I've rebooted, turned on & off Outlook. I even disconnected my Internet connection, then reconnected it. I've checked my Outlook settings and they are fine. I also turned off my ... Read more

Answer:Outlook Express Won't Receive Emails - but Sends Emails with good Internet Connection

Hi rherrygers

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

Have you attempted to logon to your ISP's mail server to see what messages are still on the mail server along with determining the size of the messages?
Outlook Express may be timing out trying to download a message that is larger than normal.
Did you also send yourself a copy of the message with the attachment?

Can you post the exact error message please?
If the Send/Receive window is not appearing, you can make it appear by double clicking the area marked in red here:
When the Send/Receive window appears, click the Errors tab, right click on the error message and select Copy and paste the error message here.

Hi All.......I have XP and plan to upgrade to Windows 7. I originally had outlook express and because it can't be used on 7, I have switched to outlook. When I login or have been away from my pc for awhile, the server sends emails that are already in my inbox - but not all emails-just some!! Other times it will send over all of the emails - as many as 300!!! (I use my email for business and sometimes receive as many as 75 daily). I am on Yahoo/ATT & T. Also there is always a yellow triangle at the right lower corner that says "send/receive error". My pc "guru" can't fix the problem, and when I called Microsoft, I was transferred to several "techs" and hours later, some jerk tried to sell me something. I just hung up in utter frustration!! The only way I can avoid getting hundreds of dupes is to access my inbox at daily and delete all the emails that have arrived on outlook. I am NOT a techie (probably obvious from this message) and would surely be most appreciative of what I need to do!!! I still have both outlook express and outlook on my pc and wonder if that could be the problem. (Still trying to figure out outlook's address book!!) Help!!! And again, many thanks!

Just a few days after running various programs to clean up a computer, I noticed 2 strange emails in the inbox. My ISP (comcast) appeared to block the two emails from being sent to 2 different addresses: both

The 2 emails contain info from comcast notifying me of those 2 emails being undeliverable, but there's not any record of the emails themselves in my sent/outbox (emails that I never sent anyway).

I've ran further scans, with no results, so I'm not sure if I'm still infected (if that was the cause anyway).

Any help would be greately appreciated. Thank you.

I apologize for bumping, couldn't see how to edit my original post.Update: I've received another 35 emails in the last 3 days about new emails that have been sent using my comcast account, however some of the emails notifying me of undelivered mail have been from other servers, not just comcast's. I have emails going to taiwan, china, list goes on.Is there any chance that my account has been compromised and the emails are being sent using my account from another computer or location, not mine? The charity I work for has about a dozen users and uses Outlook 2007 for email. Over the last few weeks we are getting more and more emails that send multiple times - someimes a handful of times, sometimes 50 times. The hosting company give us advice like delete all your large sent emails / make sure the offending email is not stuck in your Outbox / turn off virus scanning on outgoing emails. But none of this works. Can anyone help us resolve this please?

When I forward an email OE6 sends everyone I forward it to 10- 50 copies of this same e-mail. I ran ad-aware, spybot, housecall, panda and didn't find any problems. I set the time out to 5 minutes and that didn't work either. I deleted the outbox so OE would make a new file the next time, and it still is doing the same thing. I will attach hijack this log in case there is some info there. Can anyone help me?

Answer:outlook express sends multiple emails

I think I might have found the answer. See if this makes sense. In OE I went to was a box checked that said break apart messages longer than 60 KB. All the files I was sending had pictures in them. Maybe everyone got pieces and not the whole email because they said they could not open them. I sent the same email to my daughter that had been multiplied after I unchecked the box and she only got one email. Think that might be the solution?

I am ruuning outlook 2003 under windows xp service pack 3, updates upto date as of a couple of days ago. I also run norton internet security again up to date as off a couple of days ago.

I have for some weeks been experiencing a problem with outlook.
I download mail from gmail and for each item received I am getting an email generated back to the sender which is basically an advert for a electrical wholesaler. My spam filter is trapping this and putting them into the spam directory, although I suspect that an email to my compete address book may have gone out.

The email has no attachements but does have a url link.

Norton reports no problems with any viruses or problems with the mail item generated.

I have chatted to Norton support, which has got me no where.

When I down load mail I have been getting a pop up informing me that my security cert has expired and do I wish to carry on without it, whether this coincided with the start of the problem I do not know.

So where do I start attempting to find this, obviously something is generating these emails.

When I send an email, it goes through but I then get an error message that says some errors have occurred while processing the requested tasks. There are no errors listed below that. The email stays in my outbox, even though it was sent, and keeps sending emails, sometimes over 10 times. It eventually leaves my outbox. I have been manually deleting them after the get sent. Can you tell me what the remedy is?

Try renaming your Sent Items file. When OE restarts, it will recreate a new empty sent items file. My guess is that the sent items file is over 2GB in size. OE doesnt like that !!
The easiest way is to use the search facility in windows and make sure you search hidden files and folders. Search for "sent items". Once you find the correct one (Check the dates), rename it within the search program. That way, you have a backup copy of old sent items. (If you dont want a backup copy, just delete it). Problem should be fixed and you can use a program like DBXtract to get to the old data if needed.
NOTE for future: Must clean out old files regularly from the sent items folder (Actually, all folders!) before it gets this big again !!

I work for a charity with 12 staff. We use Outlook for our emails. Recently, we are all finding that some of our emails are sent again and again - sometimes a few times, sometimes 50 or more! On some occasions you can see it stuck in the Outbox and manage to cancel it but other times it has sent straight away and there is no sign of a problem til the phone starts ringing from annoyed/confused recipients.

The company that hosts us (Solid Rock) says we have outgrown them and that they cannot help. That seems curious for a small organisation like ours. So question 1 is whether this might be true or whether we have a deeper IT problem - and if so, what is it?

Second question, while we sort out a new hosting company, is about an interim fix. We use when we are travelling (usually abroad) so that we can send emails without hotel or other public places blocking them. If we move everyone onto authsmtp will it stop the multiple sending problem if our current host is the problem?

Answer:Outlook sends emails multiple times - 2 questions please...

A common reason for repeated sending of mail is a full Sent Items folder.
Is everyone affected using the same installation of Outlook and the same Sent Items?
You could try creating a new folder named Old Sent and moving everything from the Sent Items into it.

What type of account is it? Pop, Imap, Exchange?

I have a client that has Windows 2000 pro machine. When using Outlook Express they send an email with an attachment. it will send anywhere from 13 to 41 emails. The emails are the same but the attachments extension has an extra extension added. An example sample.doc email sends sample.doc.dat All the emails that I have seen the dat extension was added. I thought this was a virus and scanned but found nothing.Does not appear to be Spyware or adware problem. This has been happening for about two weeks. It doesn't do this to every email with an attachment but almost always. I reran internet explorer setup files. to reinstalled Internet Explorer and Outlook Express and that failed to help.Need more info just ask. A big thanks for any help you can give.

Answer:Outlook express sends multiple emails with attachments and adds an extra extension???

Under Tools - Accounts - [select your account] - Properties - Advanced - Uncheck "break apart messages larger than..." and all should come right.

It is splitting the attachments into bite size pieces. Multiple emails with each bite result.

When I get e-mails the person sending it to me immediately gets an e-mail saying it's from me but they know it isn't as it contains many spelling and grammer errors. This also happens with e-mails that I get from commercial entities and then I get an e-mail that says that I can't reply to that address. I have virus protection but this is continuing. It seems it only does it once per sender as far as I can tell. Plus my "sent folder" shows a couple e-mails (in the last 2 months) that I did not send and shows them coming from me and going to email addresses that I don't recognize.

I am running Windows 2000 Pro and Any time I send an e-mail using Outlook Express with a wmv video attachment at the end of the transmission, I receive an Oulook error window which states "Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks. Please review the list of errors below for more details." When you look below there are no errors listed in the box. Now during this transmission, the e-mail was passed to the outbox folder and transmitted from there but when the transmission is completed it is not removed, just stays there. If I leave it there and send another e-mail the same process takes place as when I sent the first e-mail but this time both e-mails are transmitted, sending the first e-mail a second time, and if I do not remove these e-mails from the folder they are sent again every time I send an additional email. I can remove the email with the attachment and it will send the others and the outbook will be empty, but I have to manually remove the email with the attachment. Now today it started doing the same thing with a txt return receipt.
I have scanned with Norton's, AVG, and Trend Micro in safe mode and nothing. I have run Spybot & Ad aware nothing. I have reinstall both Internet Explore and Outlook Express, did not fix. I disabled norton's firewall. I disabled norton's virus scan of outgoing mail. I have called the ISP and they checked the settings and everything looks fine.

Hello, my computer is sending spam mail from my computer. I noticed this because Symmantec Antivirus ( is blocking them as they go out. This occurs regardless of whether my mail client is open (Thunderbird). I ran a Spybot S&D scan and removed everything it found. I also ran Spy Sweeper (Webroot Antivirus) and it only found this: Mal/Behav-066. However, Spy Sweeper could not quarentine it. I found some directions online in a forum that recommended disabling system restore and then running the "bitdefender" and "ewindo" online scans while in "network" safe mode. I did this. "bitdefender" found the following and deleted it...

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{62A29C60-7C8B-4C91-B38D-6E91FF0CDB13}\RP37\A0014971.exe

"ewindo" didn't find anything. I restarted my computer in normal mode, re-enabled system restore, and my computer started sending random spam mail again.

Hello everyone!

When I turn on the computer, it seems to be trying to send multiple emails which then are eventually scanned and blocked by Symantec seen through innumerable windows that open up telling me that. This stops as soon as the cable is pulled out. Also, several boxes with the heading 'Symantec Email Proxy' appear saying that 'your message is unable to be sent'. I've run the Symantec anti virus scan but it came up with nothing.

I have somehow acquired some type of virus on my emachine desktop computer (which runs Windows XP). It (apparently) gains access to my hotmail and aol mail accounts and sends out mass messages to a bunch of my contacts. The messages have no subjects but the emails themselves always contain just one single link, and this link changes each time the virus sends the email. One friend of mine told me that there were over 20 of these messages in her inbox at one time, over the span of only a few days. Some of the links it has sent are:

Removed suspicious live links.

(and these are just a few)
I have never opened any of the links it sends, so I do not know what they are, and I have never even heard of any of these sites.
I currently run Norton 360 and it tells me that everything is fine and that my computer is protected, but I know there must be another problem somewhere. Does anyone know what this is or how to get rid of it?

Answer:Virus that sends links in emails?

Hello and Welcome.

It's possible that a spambot has simply harvested the email address from somewhere on the net and is using it. It's also possible the machine has an active infection.

FYI, while we appreciate you're trying to provide as much detail as you can, I've removed the suspicious links from your post.

We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link I'll give you below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here:

After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs. Please post them in a new topic, as this one shall be closed. I currently have as many open topics as I can effectively handle; this will have you back in queue with the proper logs so an available helper would be able to assist.

My computer has been sending out emails from an old email account of mine. I have changed all my passwords and cancelled the email address, but it is still happening. I have run virus scans and that hasn't helped. Is there anything I can do to have this stopped? Do I need a special program to stop this?

Answer:my computer sends emails from old account

It's more likely that your old address has been cloned and it isn't coming from your computer at all. Ask one of the recipients to forward one of the emails to you and have a look at the message header - this may give you a clue as to the source, though there may be little you can do about it."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..."

I wasn't sure whether or not to post this in the email section or here but lately a few people on my contact list on gmail have been getting emails from me that I never sent like:

omg well whats up
well hi its been forever since ive heard from you I spotted this on the tv you must take charge of your life do not keep putting this off trust me everybody will be jealous.

I also received similar messages from my friends on messenger.

A scan with bitdefender says there is nothing wrong and I am not sure if it is a virus on my laptop or if it is on my friends laptop.

Can anyone help? I am mortified that this thing may be sending emails to people I work with.

Since you AV scan came up empty, perhaps the next move is to call your ISP and tell them you want a new e-mail address and new password.
Then change your e-mail account settings with the new info.
There will be this hassle of informing your contacts of your new address. I don't see any other alternative.

Our computer is a Dell Dimension E510 with Windows XP. We are experiencing some mysterious symptoms that began about a month ago. They were not associated with any recent or emails we received (that we know of), and our PC-Cillin and spyware programs have not uncovered any threats. We've de-fragmented our computer and cleared our temporary internet files. Nothing seems to help. The symptoms are:
1. Certain programs run very slowly, including Word.
2. Emails are very difficult to send. Sometimes we must restart the computer to get them to send.
3. Our Outlook says we have a message in our Outbox that keeps causing a send-receive error, yet when we look in the Outbox, there is nothing there! The error reads, "Task ' - Sending' reported error (0x8004210B) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' "
Our email provider, Verizon, has not resolved the problem so far.

The results from our DDS scan are:

My Computer wasn't even turned on when I got the message, that my Mails could not be delivered. I'm a bit confused, but after searching for help and searching for information I think my computer got infected and I really hope someone can help me, because the E-Mail-Thing is not the only Problem that came on since the last few days.

About a month ago, my computer decided to send emails by itself (well, without my help). I read and followed the malware removal guide instructions. As far as I could tell, nothing of significance was found. Since "something" was sending email from my hotmail account, I figured "something" had to be there and I posted my logs for your review. You did not find anything either.

I attributed the problems to a bad AVG update, and when I finally was able to uninstall AVG completely, I began using the free version of Avira AntiVir Personal. The automatic emails stopped.

Since that time, the Avira AntiVir Guard has popped up several times. Each time, it was an htm file listed in C:\Documents and Settings\Terrie\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ folder. (The specific folder and file name changed with each notice). With each notice, I clicked deny access. When the guard popped up this week, I checked quarantine in hopes that would get rid of the problem.

Within a couple of days, my computer started sending emails again. These emails have no subject line and the only thing inside the email is a weblink.

Today, I ran another complete scan with Avira AntiVir and then ran cccleaner, superantispyware, malwrebytes. With the exception of a couple of "warnings" detected by Avira, nothing else was found. So, I go back online to see the next step in the removal process when the Avira guard popped back up with th... Read more

I think I contracted an email virus and would like some help removing etc. I run windows xp with sp3. I got an email from a friend that said you have a card, so I downloaded it (which I thought was strange, but in my infinite wisdom did it anyway). The file was card.exe and then the craziness started. All these popups started coming up saying "your email message was unable to be sent" and I wasn't trying to send anything. Symantec antivirus 2005 corporate edition could not find anything. I restarted and card.exe asked if it could run at startup. I said no and this seems to have stopped the problem. Also, active desktop recovery came up as my background. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my DDS and attach. I could not get gmer to work properly.

Hi there,

My computer has a nasty little virus. It randomly redirects me to websites (ie yellow pages), sends emails that contain a link which is a virus to people on my google email account, and slows my computer down. I have had an Antivirus system popup before this one, and I think I got rid of it, and everything was running fine, but now this fake program Antimalware Doctor (or something to that effect) has popped up, although not in the last couple of days.

Also, when my computer starts a popup saying "error loading dddcyt.ddl" (I think that's what it says) comes up. I don't know if I deleted a necessary process or file on accident. I tried deleting anything that I didn't recognize, without going too crazy.

I just ran this RootRepeal system that I saw on this website, and I have the log file attached.

Please help me get rid of this!! It affected my banks logon screen and asked for my pin number, and when I called the bank services, they told me I had a virus. This is bad!

Thank you,

I am about to pull my hair out. I use Win XP Pro-MSN dialup internet access-and a email address. For some reason MSN will no longer let me send or receive emails that have attachments in the .jpeg or .jpg format. I get the error "access to the following potentially unsafe attachments has been blocked". I can go to the website and login to my email account & send these files just fine. The hotmail site uses virus scanning while MSN uses McAfee. I spent all afternoon trying to work with MSN tech support on this. They had me change everything except my underwear & would never consider the problem was theirs. This problem has only started occurring within the last few weeks. The files I am trying to send are family photos I've taken with a Sony digital camera & are not infected with any virus. Does anyone else have this problem. Thank you.

Please note: this is Outlook 2003, not Outlook Express. O/S is Windows XP Home. When sending messages that include an attachment, Outlook seems to get stuck in a loop. The message stays in the Outbox and the recipient receives multiple copies. Sorry to forum members who have suffered this. The only way that I have found to stop this behaviour is to set Outlook to work Offline, restart, then delete the message from the Outbox. The messages do not appear in "Sent Items".Any ideas?

Answer:Outlook sends attachments, and again, again...

Do you get any error message?A guess - would it have something to do with Server Timeout? A combination of large attachment and slow AV scanning for outgoing attachment? Try going into Advanced Settings for your email account, and increase the timeout value.

Okay - the most likely problem is an issue with your POP3 connection settings.  Sorry to ask, but please double-check these with your ISP.  In Advanced settings, ensure that you haven't changed the default port number (110), unless instructed to.  Ensure that you haven't checked the secure connection boxes, again unless instructed to.

I am really stuck!!

my MS Outlook account is on my desktop PC (wireless & Vista)
I also have a laptop using live mail (wireless & Win7)

what I can't fathom is that when I send emails from my desktop they are not being recieved at my work address (outlook 2003). bit of a pain this. There is no notification back, and it seems everyone else gets emails from my desktop no problems.

From my laptop I can email my work account no problem.

Can anyone help please?

I reloaded the whole desktop system from file recovery image disks the other day back to a year ago. Before I did this, the desktop was sending emails that were not being recieved by others, such as my father, but now he is recieving the. The only recipient not recieving them is my work accounts (I have two and they are uk government accounts).

Appreciate any top tips. Thanks.

I just installed broadband ([email protected] - cable) 4 days ago. My previous ISP for many years was AOL (good riddance!), which has it's own e-mail system, so I'm not very familiar with Outlook Express. I've noticed two anomalies:

1) It sends some messages twice (recipients have told me so). I have noticed on more than on occasion that after composing a message, clicking the Send button, and closing the compose window, the Outbox still shows a message in it. When I open the Outbox, the message goes...apparently again. Why does it not go (or does it?) when I click Send, and if I've clicked Send, why is it still in the Outbox?

2) I have checked the option to capture e-mail addresses on messages I reply to...but it doesn't. ??

Running 3 home computers using D-Link wireless network with all computers on Windows XP. I'm self taught, so have limited tech abilities.
E-mail jams up frequently sending. Receiving is good. Checked with my server and set-up seems to be good.
Seems to always get stuck when there is any attachment. Just did a test and sent the same message out on all 3 machines. Each one had the same attachment. None of them would go. Error message is:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject 'Fw: new pictures for you', Account: '', Server: '', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Any ideas?

Answer:Outlook Express sends sporadically

Your ISP may have a maximum allowed size for attachments. If the attachments are larger than allowed, the error message you're getting is usually the result.

Try sending a small attachment...50K or yourself and see if it goes through.

I run the computer network for a small company. On one of our computers, I have a problem with outlook 2003. From time to time, it will send out completely empty e-mails. The user types a complete e-mail, but the recipient will receive an empty message with just one character: the "is smaller then" sign <.

This happens intermittently, maybe once in 100 mails. Sometimes, it doesn't happen in weeks, then one mail goes bad or a couple of mails in a row. The e-mails are empty in the sent box too, so the user cannot resend them, he has to retype the entire messages. There are no error messages when the user sends the mail.

Any idea what could be causing this? Or how I troubleshoot the problem. Does Outlook have an error log file that I could check ?

Help please. Whenever I send a mailing with an attachment or even when I embed something within the text area, the recipient receives multiple mailings of varying numbers. I sometimes suspect that the larger the attachment the more they get.

Answer:Outlook Express Multiple sends.

Do you use Norton AV? If so the scanning of outgoing emails can cause this to happen - try disabling this feature. If you don't use Norton then it might be caused by a virus - run your antimalware programs to check.

I have 3 PCs on a network. All use outlook express to sign in my comcast email account. One PC, while on with express open, monitor failed and nothing shown. So turned off the power. After changing monitors and restarting, outlook will ask to sign in, repeatedly. When canceling the sign on I get the standard error on no connection. Naturally I can't receive any e mails, but tried to send and was sucessful. My other PCs, using same comcast account, all are receiving and working with no problem. All PCs set to not delete email off server for 5 days, so I know there is e mail that should be received. Problem PC has XP MCE, others XP.

This one is a doozy [at least to me].

My first configuration of Outlook 2007 [Windows 7] accessed three different accounts on three different servers. When I tried to send out an email, it didn't go anywhere, and when I reopened it, it said "this email has not been sent. This email will be sent by [name of default server]. Thinking the problem was all the different accounts, I deleted all three and reinstalled the default account [please note that the entire time i've the three accounts on my Outlook using the same settings on my laptop with no problem]. Now it says "this email has not been sent".

The really odd thing [and I'm hoping this is the clue that cracks the case]: not only does the test message send; when I reply to it, Outlook will pluck it out of the outbox, while leaving behind a message written by me!

How is any of this possible???

Answer:Outlook 2007 only sends some messages

Hi jdkoerner,

* User Name: If you don't already have your complete email address entered here, do so now.
6. Click the More Settings button.

8. Change the following settings:
* Check the box My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
* Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
9. Click the Advanced tab.
10. Change the following settings:
* Check the box This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Incoming server (POP3).
* Select SSL from the Use the following type of encrypted connection dropdown menu under Outgoing server (SMTP).

* Outgoing server (SMTP): Change your current settings to 465.

I've been told that when I use OE 6 to send an email (which is rare as my primary email acct. is web-based Yahoo!) that the recipient gets 2 copies. I tried sending a test msg. from my OE 6 acct. to my Yahoo! acct. but only received 1 copy. What's going on?

OS is Win98 if that helps. Thanks for the help!

On separate machines, both Outlook 2003 and 2007 have recently started continuously and repeatedly sending the same email - if it exceeds about 500K.

I have totally cleared 'Sent Mail' folders, with no change.

Only way to stop sending is to delete from 'Outbox'. As there is no way to know (AFAIK) whether one, two or more copies have been transmitted, recipients are getting several copies before I guess that at least one has gone, and I delete from Outbox.

I have noticed that the "Preparing to send ..." stage takes a lot longer than usual.

Problem is no different for an email that I originate or a received one that I forward.

I have run virus, malwarebytes etc and machines show clean. Advice welcome!

I can send emails using OE, but when I click on send/receive I get an error message as follows:

An unknown error has occurred. Account: '', Server: '', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800C0133

This only occurs on my laptop, The desktop sends and receive using OE with no problems. The laptop os is XP Home and it has 1 gig of memory. Plenty of memory. It was working OK until March 31 at 1205 PM which was the last email I received and I am using OE 6.

Went online to ATT and made sure the email servers and my email was correctly setup and they verify the problem is not with my setup connections and is with OE. I send mail OK.

A few weeks ago, when I started Outlook without connecting to the Internet, I randomly saw again displaying near "Transmitting" in the status bar of Outlook, "Sending 14 e-mails", which I hadn't composed, the next time starting Outlook a minute later or so, 15 e-mails are displayed to be sent. I am the only person using the PC.After having done some measures to avoid this with kindly help of "The Panda" - - I chanced to see it again in the status bar some days ago: there are still invisible messages sent from Outlook, respectively it is displayed.Might there be a bug in Outlook doing something like that? I have read of such a bug doing something like that, but concerning IMAP only (I only have pop accounts). And these message being sent by the bug you can find / make visible with a program like SpyOutlook or another program from Microsoft as far as I know.Would it be possible to catch such messages? Or to find out their contents, their destination?Nice greetings, Dirk

I recently noticed that when I send an email from my Outlook it goes to some recipients but not others. The strange thing is that it goes through the outbox and ends up in the sent folder. I never get an error message thus giving me the indication that it was sent successfully. I have a home PC and I often send emails to my office PC but it isn't going thru. Other clients are also telling me my emails are never reaching them. But it seems to work with others. I have Windows xp and outlook 2003. I also checked with my provider, Comcast, went thru all of the settings and was able to sent an email to them successfully. Also did a restore. This is driving me crazy. Any ideas?

Answer:Microsoft Outlook only sends to some recipients

Sounds like the Comcast email servers are being blacklisted by anti spam software. Check with the IT in your office, see if for some reason the Comcast mail servers are being blacklisted.

I have not had this problem until the past week or 10 days. If I send an attachment less than 1 MB it seems to through okay. If the attachment is over 1 MB, however, it looks like it was not sent but the recipient will tell me that they receive multiple copies of it. I have up to date NAV, Zone Alarm Pro (also up to date) installed. I have changed none of my send/receive or other Outlook options.

I have a POP3 account. It always worked fine. Since 3 days ago when I'm sending an email it hangs for a long time until it gives an error "not able to connect to SMTP" server.

I check and re-check the account configuration and is the same as I always have.

If I close Outlook I can't start it again. The Task Manager still shows Outlook in the process tab.

If I stop the process and I start Outlook again it sends and receives pending the email. But afterwards it comes back to same problem.

Bottom line, at this point I have to close Outlook, stop the process in the Task Manger and start Outlook again in order to sent an email!!

What else can I do?

Is there any way to control those messages?

I have 3 accounts set up in Outlook 2002, let's call them A, B and C. Account A is the default and uses my current ISP's settings. I can send and receive via this account. Accounts B and C were set up under old ISP's and I can receive emails through these accounts, but cannot send via them. Under the "Send/Receive Group" option in Outlook, account A is set to send and receive, but B and C are set only to receive email. When I click on the "Send/Receive" button in Outlook, account A performs a send/receive, accounts B and C perform a receive, but then account C tries to perform a send, which fails as I no longer subscribe to the ISP associated with account C. How do I stop account C from attempting a send?

The last two times I have enabled the Autoreply feature using the Out of Office Assistant, people have been getting two emails from me:
One is the "Out of Office Autoreply:" that you would expect; it only generates once per sender.

The other is an old email from October 2008 (!) that states I'm out of the office until Nov 3. Its title is NOT prefaced with "Out of the Office Autoreply:". It just has "RE: <sender's email title to me>". AND it sends this response _every time_ someone emails me, not just once per sender. So if John Doe sends me three emails, he's going to get three of these weird responses, plus one of the Autoreply responses.

I've deleted all rules on my mailbox, thinking it might be some odd one that somehow was enabled with the Autoreply enabled. No luck. My IT department is offshore and I cannot get them to understand the nature of the problem.

Unfortunately, as a manager I receive 100+ emails a day. The last thing I need to be doing is spamming my peers and those in my management chain.

Has anyone seen this before, or have any clue what is going on?

Running XP pro , outlook express can send e-mailsbut incoming mail seems to be stuck trying to download 1 message and eventually times out.Is there anyway I can stop this incoming message ?

Answer:Outlook Express sends but can't receive e-mails

If your OE is getting stuck trying to download an email, then the probability is that there is a VERY large email on your ISP mail server. The easiest way to unblock it is to go to your ISP website and access your emails from there. This should give you the opportunity to delete the email from the server.

Messages with attachments larger than 5MB are not clearing out of the Out Box once they've been sent. This is causing the messages to be sent multiple times, at least until the email is manually deleted from the Out Box.

The attachment file type does not seem to matter. This will happen with PDF, doc, xls, jpg, etc...

Anyone have a clue as to why OE would keep resending my messages in an endless loop? Unless I remember to go into my outbox and delete the messages, it keeps on sending them.

Is there a way to reinstall Outlook Express?

Answer:Outlook Express sends message multiple times

In WindowsXP the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable
Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start>Control Panel>Folder

With OE closed, find the DBX file for the folder in
question {Outbox.dbx} and delete it. A new one will be created
automatically when you open OE.

Also, Run the System File Checker

Go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow ( sfc if not reconized)

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem. You will need your Windows cd.

I have a text document created in Word 2000 SR-1. I wish to copy part or sometimes all of this document to an outgoing Outlook 2000 SR-1 mail, and have the copied and pasted text appear in the body of the email. However, many times the receiver gets a message which reads "please view the attached file" and the information I thought I had sent as part of the body of the email now comes over to my receiver as an attachment.

Moreover, this does not happen 100% of the time. Occasionally, the mail goes exactly as I want it to, with the receiver able to open the mail and read what I pasted in the body. I cannot determine what differentiates the automatic attachment of my copied/pasted text, and that same text appearing as intended.

Please advise. Thank you.

I am using Outlook 2003 on a laptop running XP SP3, regularly updated. This setup has been stable for the 3 years I have been using this combo. Occasionally I have to send a PR Blurb mail from the road, which is a 300kb mail with an image or two embedded, bcc'ed to about 1000 addresses, using an ougoing mail server that I have cleared this with and used in the past. The last time I tried this it sat in my Outbox for a long time, maybe an hour plus, and after it had finally gone I discovered it had gone to each addressee multiple times. My virus scanner has always been disabled for outgoing mail, my mailboxes are archived so there shouldnt be a huge mailbox size... I started a test run tonight with just a couple of hundred addreessees but cancelled it after it sat outboxing for 15 minutes, clearly longer than normal given the decent broadband connection.

Anyone have any suggestions? Why should it take so long to send, and are mails going on to addressees before the end of the message reaches the server? Do server timeouts have anything to do with this? Out of my depth here, thanks!

Answer:Outlook Slow Mail Send = Repeat Sends

Hi Millsdes

Due to spammers, your ISP may have set limits on recipients. Just because "Someone" told you it was ok, does not mean they reconfigured your account to accept 1000 recipients.
I "believe" my ISP has the limit set at 50.

Your best bet is to talk to someone at your ISP and find out what their limits are, that way you can setup several distribution lists to work within their guidelines.
You may need to create 20 distribution lists if their maximum number of recipients is say: 50

Talk to your ISP is the best advice I can give you.

For 2 days I have tried to figure this out! I have 1 laptop, 1 desktop and a droid that all retrieve my email from a charter POP3 account. They have all worked beautifully since set up months ago. A couple days ago - the laptop stopped receiving email, but will send. Here is what I tried:

checked accoutn settings - all identical to desktop which is working fine.
turned off firewall - no change
did a system restore to the day before it all started - no change
created a new profile and then deleted the old one - no change
Uninstalled a recent Outlook 2007 Security update - no change

I don't know what else to try. When Outlook either manually or automatically tries to send/receive, send goes through and then it hangs on "send/receive status 50%" indefinitely. This seems like an easy one - but I am sooooo frustrated. Can anyone help? i searched the forum and could not find this exact problem.
