Page Setup in Explorer 7 - Help Needed for specific margin settings

Question: Page Setup in Explorer 7 - Help Needed for specific margin settings

I am trying to set up very specific margins and top/bottom spacing for an online passport application and IE won't let me. I have to print from the explorer window per the sites instructions. The entries I type in keep defaulting back to what IE wants as opposed to what I want.I am trying to input .25 for the margins and .01 for the top and 0 for the bottom. Can it be done? All and any help is greatly appreciated. I'm under deadline.

Preferred Solution: Page Setup in Explorer 7 - Help Needed for specific margin settings

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there,

I'm a newbie here, so thanks in advance for anyone who can help me from loosing the plot with some video conversion I need to get my head around.

Basically I have some very strict video conversion parameters to adhere to, and Quicktime Pro, and a host of other Apple Mac based converters I've tried just don't accommodate. I was hoping that someone might be able to point me in the direction of a (Ideally free, though not imperative) conversion app that does it all.

I absolutely HAVE to be able to fettle with the following for my target outputs;
Video:
File Format (Mp4 and 3gp)
Frame Size and progressive scanning
Max file size indication would be helpful so I know how big, in Mb, the target video will be
The ability to crop to any screen size
De-interlacing of target files
Codec (H264, H264HD, H264BP and MPEG-4)
Profile (Baseline, Baseline Level 3.1, Profile 0 and Simple)
Frame rate (from 15 to 30 fps)
Max Bit rate
B-Frames
Reference frame
I-frame interval
Sound:

Format (AAC and AAC-LC (48Khz))
Stereo or Mono
Bit rate (Variable or fixed, 64 to 160bps)

As I mentioned, I have found some apps that do some of the above parameters, but none that can handle it all.
Am I asking too much here? Or is there a great app (Free or Paid) that will save my sanity and allow this level of tweakage?

Many thanks for any help anyone can offer.
Regards,
Paul.

Answer:VERY Specific video conversion settings needed - Can't find an app to handle them

Best free transcoders I've used are Handbrake and VideoMonkey. Paid, would be Sorenson Squeeze and Adobe Media Converter.
Could you give us a list of what you've tried, so we don't just suggest everything you've tried and didn't like?

Hi,

I've just uploaded the latest version of IE (IE8) and I found that certain webpages are not displaying properly on a couple of sites we have. The first is at: www.juggletime.com/register0.php and www.juggletime.com/register_sp.php

and the second is on a site we're currently putting together

http://www.leaveopinions.com/postquestion.php (to see this login as admin:admin).

To see the problem, you need to have IE8 and you'll have to scroll down the page where you'll find the body of the page under the header.php

So far I've tried adding <meta http-equiv=?X-UA-Compatible? content=?IE=7? /> but it just displays a blank page. Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

Simon

Hi, when I change my bottom margin to anything below 3.05cm, I get a warning saying my margins are outside the printable area, and when I click fix, they are set to 3.05cm. I am able to set the top margins to less than this, but not the bottom. Can anyone help? I have an HP deskjet f380 (all-in-one) and Microsoft Word 2000.

Answer:Page margin on MS Word

to find out the minimum margins for any printer go to Page/setup & set all the margins to 0.When it tells you to fix click ok & it will them set the marginjs to the minimum your printer will accept. In your case if the bottom margin is shown as 3.0cm I would set it to slightly larger.ie. 3.06+

I started out printing with German region settings and Metric measurement settings.
IE6 page setup margins are labelled as being in mm however the fields react to figures based on 1/10" (inch) increments.
i.e. 3 = 3/10" instead of 3mm. (A substantial difference!)

Have changed the regional settings to U.K. English measurements in metric, rebooted and still the same issue.
Fields labelled as mm are really in inches.

This is an issue since some colleagues machines display this behaviour and others adjust the margins according to mm's as they should!

Anyone have ANY ideas about this?

I don't really care why at this stage, I just need a way to get all our machines singing off of the same hymn sheet again and printing doc's with the same margins!

Cheers,
Peter

I have an A4 sized Powerpoint 2007 (Vista) document (portrait) which needs to be PDF'd so that there is no printer margin and that 2 pages are printed per page (I have images which need to appear like they bleed across the centre of the 2 pages). Is this possible? I can print 2 pages per page but there is always a printer margin so that a thick white line appears down the centre of the page. I'm using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.

HI Folks

Apologies - I should know how to do this but.... can anyone tell me how to get the margin and page height indicators along the side and top of the page in MS Word2000.

I have a document that I want to reformat as it is too long with the default margins and page heights. I need to increase the height of the page and increase the margins to get more on the page.

Thanks

Persistent screen problem where rectangle figures representing margins of a page (I think from Word) are displayed on every web page, application, even my desktop. It is persistent through restarts, shutdowns, power cycles, etc. It sometimes changes from a single figure (8x11 Letter) to three figures (representing 4x6, 3x5, 2x2 cards). Sometimes the name of the format appears in the figure. Currently, I have the 3-figure configuration (portrait in solid lines and landscape rotated in dotted lines) across the page. All display intensity outside of the figure is muted ? inside is normal intensity. Immediately after sleeping the images are not present for a second, but the rogue process soon finds a processor and there they are again. This problem is PERSISTENT! Please help!

Answer:Persistent page margin formats on screen

Hi,

My machine runs on Win Xp Sp2. Am using Outlook 2007 for email communications. Everything was fine with the setup.

Past days while printing an email from Outlook, the right side portion of the email content gets cut off. Even in print preview it shows that right side portion is chopped.

Adjusted the margins under page set up - memo style to 0.5". Still the same. Tried various page margin sizes and tried in landscape/Portrait.

There is a large empty space in left margin, hence content at the right side gets cut off.

My browser is Mozilla.

Rest other print outs works fine except for emails at outlook.

Please help.

Regards,

Madmah

Answer:OUTLOOK 7, Page margin issues while printing

There is a Zoom bar down on the far lower right of Outlook. Make sure it is at 100% and not larger (eg) 125%.
You can also highlight the body of the Email and copy it and Paste it into Word to print it from Word.

Am using Word 2000 and want to permanently change the default 24 pt margin setting for page borders to 31 pt, to avoid the continual "out of printable area" problem with the HP colour inkjet printer we're using.

Have tried opening normal.dot, changing settings to 31 pts and saving (using >Format >Borders and Shading >Page Border >Options), but it always reverts to 24 pt.

It is getting kind of frustrating having to continually change this for every new document we create.

Any thoughts?

-I cannot set the start page in internet explorer, the buttons are disabled.
-I cannot see the start->Run command in my laptop.

I am currently enabling this manually everytime i am starting my laptop. But then i came across this forum and wanted to try with the HijackThis program. I am attaching theh log file. please suggest as to what needs to be done

thanks in advance

Answer:Internet explorer settings disabled, cannot change start page

Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Sadly Hijackthis on its own will not highlight all malware on a PC, which is why the guide below needs to be actioned and the requested logs attached.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
Bitdefender - from step 6
Panda Scan - from step 6
runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat

Hello all, how's it going? I usually fix my own stuff but have to ask some experts here for this one...

I have a WiFi setup where the wifi signal can go to 2 houses on my long-range property. One wifi router (Motorola WR850G w/ newest firmware update) is up on a pole between 2 of the houses. I could access it fine via wifi on my PC ever since i set it up a while back, but I was messing with it one day last week (nothing major changed), and all of a sudden now I cannot access the router setup page no matter what! (IP=192.168.10.1 by default).... it just simply times out now and gives me the 30 seconds loop to a page not displayed error in my browser.

I really would like to reset it via wifi, since its up powered on the pole outside, it'd be a huge pain to get up there and reset it myself....

is there a way I can get access to the page again in any way, by only using wifi from my PC????

The WiFi works great either way, and pinging to the router is 1ms so I just don't get it! Please help

Things I've done:
1. Pinged router, pings fine from any PC via WiFi...
2. Changed PC from DHCP, to 192.168.10.8 to get a non-used IP, since maybe it was timing out to the 192.168.10.7 IP I was using via DHCP. No go, it still times out no matter which PC or IP I have!

Answer:Cannot log into router/AP setup page.... page times out, but worked fine for weeks?

Did you change the protocol from http to https by chance, or vise versa ?

Hello, my name is Nick and I am brand new to this forum. Please excuse any errors on my part! Although I am very good with computers, I get easily overwhelmed with networking stuff. Please note that I know my current setup is garbage and that's why I'm here, for help to fix it right!

So I have a fairly complicated setup at my home. I will try to make this as simple to understand as possible.

We need a new setup as ours is becoming very problematic. Due to the circumstances of the setup (which I will describe below) I honestly don't know what the best overall solution is, and so I am seeking help on here.

Here's our setup:

Charter high speed internet with rented modem from Charter

Belkin AC1200 dual-band router that we own in the living room. It's the main router, about 1' away from the modem and connected using a short ethernet cable.

Second router we own is in bridge mode and is in the back room of a large separate garage. It is roughly 75' away from the main router in our living room and is connected to it with a 200' ethernet cable. This router is a Cisco EA6500 dual-band router.

The cable (one of the biggest issues I believe) is of poor quality, is WAY too long (I have a huge bundle of slack in the room), is unshielded, is "not" in direct exposure to rain or sunlight but is not protected by conduit or any other type of means. It is exposed to the elements, just not in direct contact. It is not underground but is ta... Read more

i bought a new stereo that allows you to stream songs wirelessly through wifi. however, it says i have to configure the settings to these:

SSID:W770-INST-PHAS
Channel: 5
WEP: off
AD-HOC mode

how exactly do i do this? im running winxp and my router is a linksys WAP54G. ive toyed around with a lot of settings and i really have no idea how. if it matters, im not the "main" computer on the wireless network. im in an apartment with a few other guys and its his router so i never installed any software for it.

anyway, thanks in advance.

Answer:how to change these specific settings..

well, i think it's pretty sad that you can't configure your own ssid in the media player.

but since you can't change those settings, you would be best to talk to your roommate, since it will basically change the all the settings on his wireless router, and break whatever wireless network he has now. Since i would be pissed if someone did that with my equipment, my guess is that he would be too.

Ideas?

From my ISP Modem I have one RJ45 Port.

On this port one IP-Address is advertised using DHCP.

However from my ISP I also have been dedicated an IP-Range beside that DHCP-Address that I need to use for one (maby later more) server.

Now I need a router that does what a typical home router das. Get an IP-Adress and apply NAT to a lot of clients in a local network, to connect them to the Internet. Wlan is also needed, but can be seperate.

But in Addition to that I need my servers, to be connected to the Internet with their static IP-Adresses from the IP-Range I got.

I think I need a Router that can disable NAT for certain IP-Adresses. Am I correct in that assumption? And can you recommend a router model with a good value (it should ideally have 8 Ports or more)

Or is there a better way? I thought of maby putting a small HUB in front of the (between router and Modem) router and connect my servers directly to that. Would that work?

I never really had more than one public IP Address before.

Any Help is appriciated.

If not, what network equipment/setup do I need for that?

A personal favorite music site of mine now comes up as "page can not be displayed" when I try and access it. I've spoken with other internet users who are fully capable of viewing the site. Other than that, theres the generally slow behavior, and constant error messages concerning random files (which I dont recall at the moment). I run a few programs, i.e. NAV 2005, Spybot - S & D, and Ad Aware SE Personal, fix the problems that they find and still I am at a loss. Easy fix I say, and turn to the trust-worthy folks and Techguy. I'd rather not resort to reformating, but theres nothing extremely vital on the computer. Any help before I have to reformat. Thanks for your time

If you did highlight the site and click Allow. Otherwise see if you have the Content Advisor on in Internet Options. If you do add your site to allowed sites there.

I'm having trouble accessing any of the webpages or services at my ungergraduate college. I use Eudora for email and have been unable to check my account. I also cannot access the college's home page www.wesleyan.edu, or the email web service at cmcnally.mail.wesleyan.edu. When I called the college help desk, they told me their servers were working fine and that I should call my ISP. Comcast (my ISP) told me that this is not a Comcast problem and was just a problem in my area (whatever that means.) What's going on here? And who do I contact to fix it?

It's been a while since I had a computer problem, but now I have one so I return to this lovely forum in the hope someone can help me.I'm quite a Nirvana fan, so I often check http://www.livenirvana.com. Yesterday at home I checked it on my mobile using my wifi. However since this morning it does not want to load (not on my computer, nor on my girlfriends, but it does work on my mobile very slowly ). Internet is working fine and I can browse other websites. First I checked if it was me specifically: http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ and it turned out to be indeed me .Then using google I came across: http://www.pagewash.com/ which does make the site (livenirvana) work for me.Also if I use my neighbours wireless connection (unprotected) the page will load just fine.I've tried ipconfig /flushdns but that didn't work.I've tried IExplorer and Opera both don't workI've tried deleting cookies also didn't work.I've tried disabeling my firewall, virusscanner etc. also didn't workI've updated my Java (read somewhere that might be the cause) also didn't work.Anyone has any suggestions?

I want to do when anyone enter a address of a page that not exist on my website (due to spelling error, removed or anything) then that person goes to specific page. Please tell me how to do it in HTML or any other script. I am using Dreamweaver Mx for creating website. If there is any tutorial for this then please let me know.

Answer:Move to specific page

I believe that would be a server function of the web server itself.Ask your ISP about page redirection.

hi all i was just wondering how i can set a defined ip for the devices in my network
like my ipod would be 192.168.1.20 and so on because when my devices reconnect they get a random ip

Answer:settings specific ips for network devices

see if your router has a Static DHCP or DHCP Reservation option.

if so, you can enter the device's MAC address and associate it with a specific IP address within that config page.

Hello, I was not able to repair a corrupt registry on my hard drive via the traditional ways (using restore disk, restoring to earlier date, via safe mode, etc). By luck, I still had my old (smaller) hard drive after installing a larger one this past august and was able to boot up. So now the old drive is C: and my registry corrupted drive is E:. I tried restore to the last restorable date and it must be reading only from the C: drive, because the last restorable option is this past August. I swapped the drives again, and used the E: drive to try to boot with no success (same problem - corrupt files).

The question I have is, now that I can access the corrupt (E drive when I boot off the old one, is there a way to restore to an earlier date stored on the E: drive to fix that drives corrupted files? The corrupt problem started around Dec 27, and I know I have a closer restorable date with the data on E:

Or better yet, is there a better solution out there to fix the corrupte files than what I am trying to do?
operating system is XP PRO SP2
Thanks
Andy

Hello, I'm running Windows 7 Porfessional (32 bit) on a laptop and have been running into a lot of BSODs. Rather than fix the problem early, I left it and have been having grief ever since. After running BlueScreenView, I've come to the conclusion that all my BSODs are caused by the following:
- ntkrnlpa.exe
- halmacpi.dll
- rfcomm.sys
- atikmdag.sys (this one only comes up a single time though in the BlueScreeView report)

How would I go about replacing these? Would doing so likely fix my BSOD problems? Any help is appreciated.

I 'mother' an elderly neighbour and friend and look after his PCs. Recently his PC went u/s totally (still trying to solve problem) so he ordered a new PC from Evesham.Problem - he had a Tiscali broadband ADSL connection working fine. Now the old PC is kaput I was unable to use it to transfer settings etc. He is never sure what he has or where it is, but we eventually found the Sagem monitor driver CD, installed that, and it progressed to the option to 'join' Tiscali broadband (various options). This would have meant starting a new client setup and of course waiting for the Sagem modem, USB cable etc etc., which we already have. Using the two Tiscali CDs my friend found didn't work so I rang India (!) (Tech Support) who after some time said we were using Dial-Up CDs, and she would send a broadband Install CD - however it could be "a few days".Has anyone any alternative suggestions please to install the necessary content into the Internet browser?Incidentally, although the woman in India was polite, I found it hard to hear and understand her. Is there anyone in the UK one can speak to?Any help would be much appreciated.

McAfee can not. It can detect it but not delete it.

Answer:Specific new Artemis trojan help needed

Hi -

Artemis detections are cloud/heuristics based. This can be a plus, but it can also lead to false positives.

Without knowing the exact file being identified, it would be difficult to tell you anything based solely on that. If you know the exact file name, please include it along with the appropriate logs.

Hi, I'm new here but stumbled across this forum whilst looking for help resolving a problem I'm currently having.

Lately I have been unable to access one of my favourite websites (a fan site for one of my favourite bands), but I know from other people that they are still able to access this site. I have tried scanning my PC for viruses and spyware and this had made no difference, and so I assume there must be some other problem but I don't really understand what it could be.

As my first though was that the problem was a virus I tried asking in the Internet & Networking/Security forum, in the following thread.

http://forums.techguy.org/security/432624-cant-access-certain-website.html

I've tried everything that they've suggested but I'm still having no joy, and so I'm hoping that maybe somebosy in this section may be able to help.........pretty please!!

I have a problem when surfing B&H Photo Video Digital Cameras, Photography, Camcorders when the page load it freeze for 5 to 10 seconds and the cpu jumps 100%. Have anyone experienced this problem with this or other site? in this specific site there is no flash content.

Answer:Chrome halts fro a while on specific page

Chrome I'm sorry to say is horrible, and I hate saying it because many people prefer and rely on it.

What it is, is that chrome actually takes a larger CPU power than expected, recommend only multi core users with a combined amount of over 6GHz to use it tbh.

This is a problem which effects so many computers, it effected my old one, my brothers, my freinds & my mothers.

After testing it I did find it is NOT the fastest browser available the fastest is actually Maxthon followed by OPERA which are obviously not well known but like IE or Firefox does not demand a large CPU usage but OPERA & Maxthon are not known for their usability.

I personally recommend Firefox after testing the speed myself against others (such as google chrome, Safari & IE) this came up top after Maxthon & OPERA. Also if you download the addon DownThemAll then the downloads are faster then any of its competitors.

So I havea pdf (hundreds of pages) that is stored online for my company and I am trying to create a hyperlink in excel to take people a page 15 in the document. I've tried adding #page=15 and when I click the link it still takes me to first page in the document (as a result of url losing the #page=15). When I copy and past the link into the browser it obviously retains the page callout and work correctly.

Any thoughts or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

My company is running Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP Professional. When any of us try to print this page (http://www.ai.org/serv/eventcal?PF=hpb-med&Clist=140&Elist=93868), we can see the print icon in the IE6 status bar, but the job never shows up in the printer's queue and never prints.

I tried printing the same page at home, using IE6 and WinXP Home Ed, and had the same problem. This is a totally different printer, etc, so I'm confident that it's not a printer driver or O/S issue, and not some specific security set up by our admins (who are totally unhelpful BTW).

HOWEVER ... I was able to print the page at home using Netscape 7.2, so I'm also confident that it's an IE6 thing.

Additional info ... When we print preview this page, it defaults to 75% and shows a blank page. If we enlarge or shrink the magnification, we can then see the pages in preview mode regardless of what mag. we use. We can see that the pages are too large for the paper, but none of our various printers' "shrink to fit" options are effective. I've tried every IE setting I can think of, set security to none, accepted all cookies, cleared caches and temporary files, but with no success.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated, or even info on if you can print this page with a different O/S or IE version. Thanks!!

I've been having these alot lately. First, I had trouble on my home wireless network getting to a specific web page. Running Windows XP, IE 6 with a basic Linksys 812.b network. In one of the strangest solutions I've ever experienced, switching the two identical wireless cards from the laptops on the network solved the problem.

Next, I was having trouble with a few webpages, also at home on wireless. In this case, I had to go to the network setup page and enable and set the MTU value. Problem solved.

Now, my problem is at work...so my ability to change settings is limited. But I'm so baffled by the problem that I have to post. I'm still running IE 6, this time on Windows 2000 Professional. I can't access two webpages, www.atrios.blogspot.com, and the Guardian Newspaper, at www.guardian.co.uk.

The Guardian worked once a month or so ago, and Atrios has worked for the last 6 months, but stopped two days ago. Both sites simply cannot load. I can ping both of them from a command prompt and get a quick response. I've also tried clearing my cache, and adding the sites to my trusted list. Is this IT blocking access? There are plenty of other blogs and news sites that I can still access. Suggestions and clues appreciated.

Answer:Busted? More specific web page problems

Might be unecessary, but some additional info. It's the entire Blogspot domain (www.blogspot.com) that I can't access, even though I can ping it successfully from a command prompt. Guess I could've explained this problem without revealing my political leanings, but oh well. Any suggestions appreciated. Also I tried flushing my DNS which didn't work.

If I disable javascript this stops this from occuring. It's only this one webpage that does it and it does it for whomever views the webpage.

I was wondering if anyone knows how someone did this and how I could stop it from doing so?

Thanks!

Hello Good Morning,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me move a pagebreak using VBA. I have a form and it is variable in the number of rows and the height of those rows, there are groups of data that do not have a consistant height (could be 12.75 a row or 100 a row) and also no not have a consistant number of rows. (excel 2002) I have researched for 2 days and have not found anything that did this or something like this (that I understood anyway)

1) Page Set Up 100% of normal size THEN
2) Checks make sure the page break is NOT in the middle of a data set
3) If it is, Move it.

Say the data i do not want to break up is in rows 30 - 40, then 42-56, then another group of 8-12 rows I know I am not supposed to use the "Select" Option, but my idea to get this to work is,

Select Rows (30:39)
If pagebreak is here then
select pagebreak
move pagebreak to Row 29
end if

Select Rows (42:55)
If pagebreak is here then
select pagebreak
move to Row 41
end if

Select Rows (No Page Break Here For all my data set)
If pagebreak is here then
select pagebreak
move to Row 41
end if

end sub

Does anyone have any thoughts? Is there anyway to pull this off? Or something that will have the same effect?

I dont mind tedious, when I am getting a new macro to work.

(I have taught this all to myself using the VBA book for dummies and wonderful forums like this, but generally speaking all of the Dim Boolean Loop types of code I have not needed to sort out yet. Help in e... Read more

Answer:Page Break - Not in specific locations.

I've come across something like this once before.

http://www.dailydoseofexcel.com/archives/2004/12/22/page-of-pages-in-a-cell/

For your example, I created the four "names ... to be defined" ("curly" quotes must be replaced with "straight" quotes).

Then, w/r/t "Select Rows (30:39)" I made row 39 way high so that the "boundary" rows would definitely be on different pages.

Then I ran this:

Sub test()
Range("A30") = "=PageOfPages"
Row30Page = Range("A30")
Range("A39") = "=PageOfPages"
Row39Page = Range("A39")
Range("A30,A39").ClearContents
If Row30Page <> Row39Page Then
MsgBox "We need to tweak the layout."
End If
End Sub

With r39 way high it gives a prompt. Resetting r39 to default height and re-running gives no prompt. Do you follow?

I'm having problems loading one particular webpage-- http://www.falloutboyrock.com .

I use it nearly every day, and have never had a problem. Yesterday, it worked in the morning but when I got home from work wouldn't load the top half of the page. I have XP and use Firefox as my browser. This is what it looks like right now for me:

I've tried the site on another computer, also using Firefox and XP and it worked fine so I think the issue must be in my settings or something. I'm not sure what could have changed but something must have since it's not working.

I attempted to do a bit of troubleshooting based on what I could find on google. I checked and updated Java, and that didn't make a difference. I also uninstalled and re-installed Flash. Yet again, it didn't work.

Any ideas? The top part of the page is needed to nagivate the rest of the site so it's pretty annoying that it doesn't work.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

Answer:Problems loading a specific page

Since that part of the page is a Flash presentation that would be what to look into. Have perhaps you blocked Flash?

Very recently the following page www.kinguin.net stopped working on my pc.

The issue is only specific to this page, and using the same router on my laptop i am able to see the page without any trouble.

On my pc however, the page loads up distorted with no images and a bunch of line codes.

Im using Google Chrome and tried clear cache on both Chrome and IE. No diferences made. Using the Chromes Developer Tools. Tried also disable all extensions repair Chrome and even Unnisnstall and Re-Installed it.

The page error can be seen here http://i.imgur.com/lNDAACU.jpg and here using Chromes Developer Console i notice it shows alot of errors http://i.imgur.com/o5lGcsg.jpg .

Since i can display the page on my laptop, i found this very weird to happen.

Were you planning on having multiple links to different tabs or just a single link to a specific tab?The reason I ask is this:If it's a single link to a specific tab, you could put a Workbook_Open macro in the ThisWorkbook to select the desired tab:Private Sub Workbook_Open()

Ok, this one is a doozy that so far has completely stumped the tech support team of Linksys. I have a Linksys Wireless B Router and WPC11 Wireless B Card. I'm running Win 98 SE. For some reason, I can't access the Lexmark web page, www.lexmark.com. When I plug in directly to the cable modem, or even directly to the router, the page comes up immediately. Tech support at Linksys spent quite a bit of time on this, and had me adjust the "MTU", Disable the "Block WAN Request," (under Filters) adjust the "RTS" and "Fragmentation Thresholds," change the "TX rate," (under Wireless) and adjust the "DMZ Host" (under DMZ Host) all to no avail. When I try to ping the site from a command prompt, the request times out. Anyone have any suggestions? I thought it might be a DNS problem. But I don't really know what that means or what to do about it.

Hi Guys

I have been reading the post on this subject from 2008, but not getting very far.

http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/782235-hyperlink-specific-pdf-page-excel.html

I got the excel link to the page to work when I run the macro, but cannot work out how the public sub works, and how to make that a clickable link at cell level.
What I have is an excel spread sheet containing multiple sheets and multiple columns . Each cell within a column will need to have a hyperlink to a different page within one of a number of pdf documents. There are about 6000 links to be made in all.

eg

column a= welds
843 links to doc1.pdf#page=30
944 links to doc2.pdf#page=5

Column d=specification
8124/2 links to doc4.pdf#page=35
8188/2 links to doc4.pdf#page=90

The links must be relative as the finished product of excel and pdf are to be loaded onto a memory stick and supplied to a customer

I was considering converting the xls to html, as the links work there. However as there is so much data the xls formatting is better for readability and printing.

My ideal solution would be single routine, each cell being a clickable link ie click on 843 and link to the appropriate page by calling the macro using 2 cell values variables ie a3,a4 . The macro would then extract the appropriate file and page values from hidden columns.

I know that you have already looked at this once before but your help on this would be very much appreciated

Answer:Hyperlink to specific page in PDF document

I will post the full code that I have created to link to the pdf page for each cell when it is completed. However I realised that the code

Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_BeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean)

Dim IE As Object, strFile As String, iPageNum As Long

If Range("C3").Value <> "" Then
strFile = "C:\Test.pdf"
iPageNum = 2
Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
IE.Navigate strFile & "#Page=" & iPageNum
IE.Visible = True

Is it possible to link a note to a particular page in a PDF file? Not the entire file but, say, page 154 in that file?

Answer:OneNote - link to specific page in PDF?

Found a way to do this in Acrobat.

But I use Nitro PDF, which has a link feature, but I can't get it to link to a specific page. Gotta be a way to do it in Nitro if Acrobat can do it?

Hi this is not related to my earlier post.

I have installed Windows 7 on this Vista Laptop and it is great software. But I think the Toshiba settings are missing which is causing it to overheat and turn off.

Is there anything I can do to stop it from overheating? Does Toshiba have recommended settings for my specific laptop for running Windows 7. Can I still apply them?

thanks
kris

Answer:Re: Satellite L300D-800 - Specific settings for Windows 7?

Hi buddy,

Which recommend settings you mean or expect?

In my opinion if your notebook is overheating you should try to clean it using compressed air spray. Blow gently and shortly with compressed air spray and therefore it?s not necessary to disassemble the notebook. It could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators and should be done from time to time.

Assuming I am using the correct terminology in my question but knowing that I am possibly talking about something else I will explain. Having done a fresh install of Win7 HomePrem I noticed that when I click on a drive I have to wake it up--it doesn't open immediately and I could here it begin to hum. Prior to my reinstalletion I did not have to do this--clicking on any drive would pop up a window immediately. Then I recalled that I had done this manually and I think it was through the 'Power Options' --> Advanced Settings --> Hard Disk --> Turn off hard disks after... Am I correct in this? That this is how I prevent my disk from going to sleep/turning off? by setting it at 0 or 999 minutes. Assuming not then how do I do so. Assuming yes, then is there a way to do so only for one HD? I have 4 (where my OS sits and 3 others). I do not like to wait every time I want to open a folder in a drive I am not presently using and since this drive mainly happens to be the D: drive and not my E: or F: drive (hardly used) I was hoping I could be specific.

If any, such an option should be in the disk properties in Device Manager. But I don't see such an option.

Ok, my title is a bit hard to understand. What I want to know is, if your computer has Windows XP Home, do you have to have a XP Home disc to do a repair, or could you use an XP Professional disc. Likewise in Vista, if you needed to do a repair, etc. on a Vista Home Premium machine, could you use a Vista Ultimate disc, or vice versa?

I need to know because I am starting out as a tech, and I don't want to have to buy every single version of windows out there, unless of course, I just get a Microsoft Technet Subscription and download all the various versions...but that's like $380.00.

Answer:Specific Version of XP/Vista needed to do repair or not?

I get an "internet explorer cannot display this webpage" message when I try to login to a specific website. This is the only page I'm having problems with (including other secure login pages) and I called two people in different locations who can access this page so the site is running. I tried another computer at my house with the same connecgtion and I have the same problem. I've already cleared my cookies, browsing history and temp. files and I've restarted the computer. Any idea what might be causing this? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Answer:Solved: IE cannot display specific login page

In case anyone else has this problem I just wanted to post an update:

After taking my laptop to the office and having no problems with the login page there, I tried using a different modem at home and didn't have any problems. I switched back to the old one and got the same unable to display message so I guess this is a problem with the modem.

I'm running Windows ME, with IE 6. I am having trouble connecting to links on ESPN's website. I keep getting the message "the page cannot be displayed" in IE. A specific example is when I click on story links on the right side of the main page. Clicking these links gives me the error message. However, I found a fix to these links. It would work if I erased the first part of the address and left the second part... But it's a pain in the rear to do it for every link, every day.

So does anyone know what might be the problem? For what it's worth, I have downloaded and tried using firefox on the same links, and have gotten an alert that says "the connection was refused when attempting to contact ......"(dots added because I'm not allowed to post url's). I have adaware and spybot, and appear to be spyware-free. And to my knowledge, I am virus-free. I suspect i may have host file problems, through my research on the web. But I don't know how to fix this. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Nate

Hi, everyone. Just found this website, and it looks like it will hopefully be helpful. Here's my problem:

I am unable to access a specific website: www.edline.net. I receive an error message stating that this page cannot be displaye (as if the site doesn't exist). However, on other computers, the page appears fine.

I have Norton Internet Security installed w/parental controls (haven't gotten a chance to try turning them off; don't know if this could be the problem). I'm thinking that maybe the oversensative parental controls are blocking the site, but can anyone think of what else could be causing this problem?

I only get the message when I go to www.edline.net. Other websites work fine.

Thanks for your help, everyone!

We all know the terrible history of Windows and folder view settings. They've limited some of the customization options and most of the problems went away. Windows 8 is rather decent in saving the folder view settings. All the folders in my local drives keep their view settings and I have no problems. However, I have a couple folders on my desktop that keep reverting to the default view settings and it is a bit irritating.

Here's the situation: I have several folders on my desktop. Some of them are shortcuts and some of them are located on the desktop itself. The shortcut ones have no problems with the view settings. The ones located on the desktop on the other hand keep resetting to the default view settings. They contain only one type of files - shortcuts for my programs and games. I'm not sure if the type of customization makes any difference, but one of the folders I like to view in tiles and the others in large icons. I usually sort them by date created. No matter of the view or sort setting though, they reset to the default details view quite often.

I've tried most of the possible solutions. I've also deleted and created the folders again but the problems persists. I've tried to identify the actions that might force the reset but I have no definite answer. In past versions of Windows it seemed there were some "connections" between random folders and changing the view settings of one affected the other but I don't think that's the case here because I don't ch... Hello everyone,

I'm using Windows XP SP2 with all the latest patches installed. My computer is a member of a domain.
My problem is that when logging off specific user (domain or local user), the settings are not saved (or maybe are overwritten in a specific moment). When logging on again, the settings are not those that I left. For example: all visual settings, folder options, etc.. It's not very conveniently to change all these things at every logon..
How can I solve this?

When I import an image into Word, I almost always have to end up resizing it. For instance I could create an image in Photoshop at 7 inches wide at 300dpi. Then import it into Word and it is much smaller (say 5 or 6 inches wide). The problem is that resizing an image in Word seems to lead to a loss of image quality, so I'd rather just be able to control the size of an image going into Word. Is there a specific resolution I need to be saving images as so as to keep their size from the point of saving to the point of inserting into Word the same? I've tried other resolutions (72, 150dpi), but never seem to be able to keep an image's size the same once it's in Word.

Thanks for any help.

Hi guys,

First time on here! From Dublin, Ireland!

I am trying to work on a spreadsheet whereby I want a specific hyperlink in an excel cell to open a pdf to a specific page.

Now I have managed to work with some code where I am able to do as such, however I am getting stuck at a very simple part.

The code works and opens the required page in the pdf in internet explorer, however I need different pdfs to open through the hyperlinks in different cells. Unfortunately, when I click a hyperlink, it is opening all the pdfs I've specified. Is there a way to assign the code to one singular cell so that only the required pdf opens through that cell, and similarly different pdfs in different cells?

I have to add hyperlinks to about 100 cells and while a few of them will open the same document, the pages will be different.

Basically, when I click a link, I just want the req'd page in the pdf to open, but it is opening all the pages specified, even ones for different cells.

The following is my code:

Private Sub Worksheet_BeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean)
Dim IE As Object
Dim s As String, sFile As String
Dim iPageNum As Long
If Range("J17").Value <> "" Then
sFile = "C:\Passdowns\Linked Procedures\Startup Guide.pdf" '<- Modify to suit
iPageNum = 12
Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
IE.Navigate sFile & "#Page=" & iPageNum
IE.Visible = True
End If
P... Read more

Answer:Open excel hyperlink to specific page on local pdf

You need to loop through the range with a variable and use the value of that to access the cell.
At the moment you are treating the whole array of cells as one.

I've looked all over the web and am having no luck. I'm a finance guy doing research.
I want to hyperlink the numberical data in each EXCEL 2007 spreadsheet cell to the specific PDF page that references the cell data. I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard. This process will provide a quick means of substantiating the data in thousands of cells.
I have read articles on named destinations, but the problem seems to be that named destinations are not recognized and even inserting the
"=page#" is not recognized by Excel. The hyperlink will go to the document, but not the specific page I want which is useless when you have about 200 citations within the document.
We have a web server along the lines of file// but if absolutely necesssary I could save to my local if that makes a difference, but that should be a last option.

If anyone has some other ideas about how to do what I want other than hyperlinking to adobe pdfs, then I'm all ears, or do I need a new version like PRO, other pdf software, other spreadsheet program, or other approaches to obtain the same result, like may be a workaround to hyperlink to bookmarks, I set up in adobe?
I appreciate anyone's time and thank you in advance.

Answer:Hyperlinking from Excel 2007 to specific page in Acrobat

Read this (even though it is about an earlier version of Adobe) regarding using destinations, rather than page numbers in your hyperlink.

That will save the hassle of searching through the large pdf file for the content

Can this be done?

I mean the hyperlink in my email content that can link up to certain page of the attached pdf.

And so, when the recipients click on the hyperlink word in the email content, it open up to certain page of the attached pdf file.

Answer:Opening a specific web page while I open a new tab In Microsoft Edge

Hello Balubeto,

It doesn't appear that we are able to specify a webpage for new tabs in Microsoft Edge yet.

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/7647-microsoft-edge-new-tabs-open-page-change-windows-10-a.html

As a workaround, you could add that webpage to the Favorites Bar to help make it faster to open after opening a new tab.

Twice a year I publish a village a magazine. Have done it for years but still use Word as the core program. The latest is at the printer now, made up from 40 separate pdf files. He is happy to accept that format.
For the last year I have given the magazine as a single pdf to the village webmaster, and obviously he has little to do but load it.
I set off with good intentions, a specific format for the Word pages which are about 60% of the document(with some text boxes) and the rest Corel Draw files which are converted to pdf when ready for insertion.
Fine for the magazine print, but when I try to make a single Word file ready for the net site my tweaks here and there cause lots of grief, where I have word files which have been squeezed and manipulated as single files and now play awkward as I try to make one file of them in page order.
I'm becoming slow and rather reluctant at times to learn new tricks.
Is there anyone out there who has a brilliant solution?

Answer:Assemble a 40 page booklet without a specific publishing program

I'll rephrase my problem.
I have 40 pages of a village magazine, all pages converted to single pdf files and accepted by a printing firm.
I now wish to give the village website manager one single PDF ready for publishing on our website
Roughly half the pages are Word.doc files and the trouble with simply pasting another page in the new one-piece doc is where I have had to tweak or take liberties with detail formatting. For example add a page number in its own little text box. This sort of thing is likely to screw up the existing format.
The lesser 'half' is a series of Corel.cdr files which paste easily into a full page text box on the next Word page.
Is it possible to lock a single Word page, so that it can be copied to a new page without messing up either the growing new document or the file being copied?

I have a form that is one page in size and I am wondering if I copy it on say 100 successive pages so that there 100 pages of the the same form, can I do an "x of y" it a specific location within the form so that the rest are automatically numbered?

What I have now is a single form that has this: Item number 1 of 100. Now I have to print 100 of these out, but I don't want to change the number each time manually to 2 of 100, 3 of 100 etc. So as I said, I want to copy the same form 100 hundred times and enter some kind of numbering fuction or formula that will enter the next sequential number automatically on each form on the pages that follow.

Is there a way to do this in Word. I don't want to use headers.

Thank you.

Just a note, I am using tables for this.

PDF links whose URIs include backslashes are interpreted by Acrobat Reader browser plug-in as local file-system links even when they are not. This means that a link that points to a specific page number will open the file but not automatically jump to the desired page . In our browser-based viewing tool, this means that the links are perceived as not working.

For Example : from IE Browser When we tried to open the link in PDF 1 which has the URL of the 5th section of PDF2 and the URL includes the backslashes then the Specific section of PDF2 is not getting opened . The link just opens the PDF2 first page. This Specific problem does not arrives if we try to open the link through Adobe Reader or if the URL mentioned in the PDF is formed using forwordslashes instead of backslashes.

Regards
Yeshwant

Answer:Problem while opening a link of a PDF that points to a specific page to another PDF

That's the cause of the problem; URLs must be constructed using forward slashes, not back-slashes. Whilst most web-browsers can automatically correct a mis-typed URL containing back-slashes, Adobe Reader cannot.

Hi everyone:

I am new to VB. I have a code that goes from Excel to a specific page in Adobe (which ends up opening it in IE). Problem is that I need it to be able to go on different computers so I am trying to figure out how to tell VB to get the file from the USB flash drive. Every flash drive comes up different on every computer.

Here is my code:
Sub TestPDFlink()
Dim IE As Object, strFile As String, iPageNum As Long
strFile = "F:\folder\nameoffile.pdf"
iPageNum = 125
Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
IE.Navigate strFile & "#Page=" & iPageNum
IE.Visible = True
End Sub
So, where do I tell it to go to whichever drive the flash drive comes up as (E:, F:, etc)? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,
I had a virus on my computer. I have now managed to delete all the files and now my computer is fine.
However on specific pages (generally on smaller websites), it is stuck on waiting for {website}. On YT and Twitter it is fine (and of course on here) but I find quite a lot of websites are affected.
I am running i3 Processor with Windows 10 Pro and Iris Graphics (I can specify exact numbers but I'm not sure it is too relevant).
I have tried looking at similar threads, where the problem has been the Internet Download Manager, which I don't have.
I have only tested on Edge and Chrome, but I reckon Firefox and IE would be the same.
Sorry if I have put this in the wrong forum, I am new to the forums but I will move straight away (just let me know).
Any reply is greatly appreciated
Thanks,
