Outlook 2010 - received emails are going to Outlook Express

Question: Outlook 2010 - received emails are going to Outlook Express

Hello, I hope you can help!

I have installed Outlook 2010 as an update to my Outlook Express.

I can send /receive fine having manuallt set-up the incoming/outgoing server info etc, but when I send test messages or from my separate O2 email account, all sent and newly received emails are all going to the old Outlook Express, and not into the new Outlook 2010.

Why is this, I hope you know as I do not.

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Save file with date email was received, not exported out of Outlook, and subject line.

I have Outlook 2010. Until recently, the email address I use the most would
automatically download any emails received every so often. Lately, it doesn't do that.

I went to File-->Options-->Advanced & clicked on Send/Receive. There I made sure that
my main email address was part of on of the groups listed. Then I set that group to
check & download emails every 15 minutes. However, it still is not doing that . How do
I fix this? Thank you.

Hello,

I Recently upgraded several XP sp3 workstations from Outlook 2000 to 2010. When receiving an email with a digital certificate from a existing sender the contents of the email are blank but also get no certificate error messages. Email correspondence before with Outlook 2000 on same PCs was fine. Any help in this matter will be much appreciated.

Windows XP Prof; I use Internet Explorer 7 and Outlook Express 6. A few days ago I uninstalled Mozilla Firefox. I could not delete it from Control Panel-Add/Remove programs. I deleted the main program and all folders that had the word Firefox in it.

Since then, if I click on a blue URL in a received email in Outlook Express, nothing happens. For example, when I received my registration email to this forum, I had to copy and paste the URL into Internet Explorer.

I reinstalled Internet Explorer 7 but that did not help. I think I deleted Foxfire on Feb 5, 2007. I tried Norton Goback a few days later, but that did not "go back" to Feb 5th.

Is it possible that Outlook Express is set up to use Firefox, and now that it is gone, Outlook Express does not know that it should use Internet Explorer? Come to think of it just now, I am pretty sure when I clicked on a URL in a received email, it was Firefox that responded.

Answer:Solved: clicking on URLs in received emails in Outlook Express does nothing

Just writing to this forum made me think about my problem, and I solved it: Internet Explorer was not the default browser. I guess Firefox had made itself the default browser, and when I deleted Firefox, Internet Explorer did not step up to the plate. I made IE the default and now everything works as it should.

Anyway, I am glad I have discovered this forum, and I shall attempt to become a regular member.

So, folks, no need to respond to my previous post.

This is an intermittent problem that started a few days ago - some emails from the same sender sent at the same time get through as normal then there are gaps in the list in my inbox where there is no sender, no subject and when I click on the email the content is in (HTML?) code.

It happens with different senders, to different email accounts - although they are all sent to BTinternet.com emails.

No problem sending emails, and when I checked by accessing the emails via webmail they were all perfect in that inbox.

I haven't changed any settings on my PC.

Thank you
Cat

Hi Folks

This is my first post on the Windows 7 Forums I hope General Discussions is the correct place for my post.

I will shortly be getting a new desktop pc with windows 7 home premium 64 bit. It will have Microsoft office Outlook 2010 on it.
This will replace my current computer which has Outlook 2003.

Is there a way of transferring my saved emails from Outlook 2003 on my old pc to outlook 2010 on my new pc?

Also I currently have 3 email accounts. Is it possible to configure Outlook 2010 to be able to view emails from 3 different email accounts?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Answer:How do I transfer emails from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2010

Hello Richard and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm not a fan of Outlook so I don't have a lot of experience with it. Having said that, I remembered an old Microsoft Answers forum thread about moving 2003 .pst files over to 2010. The first answer by Russ Valentine should still be valid. One suggestion if I may. Before attempting to move any emails I think it would be helpful to back them up, make a system image, do something to protect them should the unthinkable happen.

Moving Outlook 2003 Data Filses to Outlook 2010 - Microsoft Answers

There's a separate Seven Forums category for "Browsers & Mail" about half way down on the home page. You may get some better repsonses and suggestions if you ask one of the Forum Moderators or Admin to move this thread over. In the upper right corner of your original post is a red triangle. If you click on that you should get a dialog box where you can ask that the thread be moved.

Runing Microsoft Office 2007 in Vista can you import outlook express emails into office outlook and be able to read emails and access outlook express address book as well.

Answer:inport outlook express emails and address book into office outlook in vista

Yes. OUTLOOK - FILE - IMPORT / EXPORT - IMPORT FROM ANOTHER PROGRAM OR FILE - OUTLOOK EXPRESS BTW - I've never tried it (I don't use Outlook Express). You can also try Exporting from Express and Importing to Outlook, though I'd guess the above method will work.

I use OE 6 on my desktop running XP pro, but use Outlook 2007 on my laptop running XP home. I cannot receive attachments sent from my Outlook 2007 to my OE 6 when I send it to myself. They are stripped off, not even showing an attachment. The attachment comes through to other recipients as far as I know, INCLUDING my alternate email address (through at&t). So OE 6 receives the attachment when I send it from my default email account to my at&t account, but not when I send it to from and to my default account. I have checked with my email provider, who has checked the server (IMAP) and they do not see any problem--the attachment is on the server. I have already unchecked all potential blocks under the Security Tab--image blocking and attachment blocking--and am operating in the Internet Zone. And, as far as I know, I am receiving attachments from everyone else in the world. I know there are ways to work around this problem, but it is irritating and I have concerns that my email attachments to clients may be unknowingly blocked. Also, I cannot receive those attachments on my Blackberry either.

I have a friend who just purchased a Windows 10 laptop.

It came with Office 365.

She has for many year been using Outlook Express in Windows XP.

She wants to move all of her outlook express emails (and sub folder of the Inbox) to the Outlook program on the new windows 10 computer.

Is this possible ??

I have succeed in getting her address book exported and imported but cannot find any info or instructions on how to move the emails and folders.

I do remember that some years back I did a transfer from outlook express XP email to a Windows 7 computer running outlook. But I seem to remember having to have some kind of special software to make this possible.

Can anyone tell me if I am wasting my time or is this transfer a possibility ?

She really does not want to give up all of her old emails.

Thanks in advance,

Just going through the frustrating task of switching to new Win7 machines from old XP machines.

I have several thousand important (business) e-mails on my old XP machine under Outlook Express 6.  Six different accounts, each with their own inbox.  Four are POP3, 2 are IMAP.  The new machine has Office 2010 with Outlook, and I have set up all 6 accounts and they are sending and receiving fine.

I have read several articles on how to move (or export/import) all my old e-mails into Outlook, but they all seem to be written as if I have both Outlook Express and Outlook on both machines - not the case.  Some say to install Outlook temporarily on the old machine and make the conversion there - is this really necessary?  Where would I get just Outlook 2010?  Download a trial version?

The articles all seem to make reference to a PST file.  I have located the store files on the Outlook Express (old) machine, and they are all in a .dbx format.  Additionally, there are literally dozens of these dbx files, many for old folders that I no longer have on the old machine, even some old e-mail accounts that have been closed for years..

Can someone walk me though how to move (export/import) my e-mails from my old XP machine, with Outlook Express 6.xxx only, onto my new machine, with Outlook 2010 only?  Can I migrate individual folders, or do I have to move everything (all 6 accounts plus the sent items folder) at ... Read more

I have Windows XP, Outlook 2002 and use EarthLink.

There are at least four people to whom I send emails, and to more than one address with one of these people. They are simply not getting emails from me. Some receive it at one address but some receive nothing at either of their addresses.

I have tried sending from a different account within EarthLink and it worked with one person but not the rest.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Have you checked your sent folder to be sure that the email was intact when sent? You could try and type the address in the sent box and see if it is received. If it works, your contacts may be corrupted.

Many emails I receive from friends in Outlook have a perpendicular line near the left margin (sometimes two parallel ones). When I forward these emails how can I eliminate these lines? I have tried over and over again, nearly always without success.I also often find that some of the words at the end of lines are missing. Again, whatever I try I can seldom recover them. Howdy, folks:
I'm trying to use an Outlook macro to initiate an Excel routine. I've taken a look at geek123 and rollin_again's conversation that would seem to be on point for what I'm doing. I've somewhat modified the recommended code - attached below:
Private Sub Application_NewMailEx(ByVal EntryIDCollection As String)
vID = Split(EntryIDCollection, ",")
For i = 0 To UBound(vID)
Set objMail = Application.Session.GetItemFromID(vID(i))
vSubject = UCase(objMail.Subject)
vFrom = objMail.SenderEmailAddress
If Left(vSubject, 1) = "C" Or Left(vSubject, 1) = "D" Or Left(vSubject, 1) = "L" Then
Set xlApp = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
Set xlWB = xlApp.Workbooks.Open("c:\stubbs\test.xlsm")
Set xlSheet = xlWB.Sheets("Sheet1")
vRow = xlSheet.Range("A" & xlApp.Rows.Count).End(-4162).Offset(1, 0).Row
xlSheet.Range("A" & vRow).Value = vSubject
xlSheet.Range("B" & vRow).Value = vFrom
xlWB.Save
xlApp.Quit
Set objMail = Nothing
Set xlApp = Nothing
End If
Next i
End Sub
The code errors out while trying to open the workbook, saying that it couldn't find the file. I've checked the pathing and the filename and they're correct. Has the format for the open statement changed?
Thanks for you help.

Answer:how do i get emails from outlook express 6 into outlook 2007?

I don't use Outlook, but I'd think the general procedure would be to:

1: Export from Outlook Express to location X

2: Open Outlook, use the import function, and navigate to location X.

Is that what you are doing?

Can you export in more than 1 format? If so, try another format.

It's also a good idea to make manual copies of all of your Outlook Express files (dbx, etc) in case your corrupt the originals during the export/import process.

Email export and import functions haven't improved in the last 10 years, so welcome to reality. I hate changing email programs for that reason.

There are applications out there designed to convert DBX to PST, but I don't know if they are required.

I think I have made sure that in "Settings" everything is OK (Compose messages in HTML and so on). I believe that there are files which can clog up the system and prevent images from being displayed, but don't know how to access the correct place to delete these.

Is there any way to edit the subject field on emails that have been received?  (Friends replay without changing the subject, and I would like to save the email with the subject field corrected)

Answer:Outlook 2003, edit subject on received emails?

When someone replies to an email from you, the subject has "Re:" inserted, doesn't it?  So, why do you want to change the subject?  It should remain the same.  The "Re:" clearly indicates it's a reply, not an original message.  And, if you reply back to such a message, the subject line will start with "Re: re:".  That creates a sort of a trail which can be useful in recognizing the history of the message.  So, why try to change the subject line?

Hi

I am new to the list but here it goes. I have switched from my iMac to my Dell for my email and internet. On my iMac I could edit received messages before I printed them to get rid of junk. It seems I can not do that now on my Dell. I have Outlook express 6.0 I have searched properties, options, and looked in the help information and can't figure out what is going on. Is there going to be anyway I can edit the received messages? Thanks for any help anyone can give me. Oh, I have Window 2000.

Answer:Outlook Express /How to edit received messege

If you have Outlook (not Outlook Express) I would suggest moving to that. It has a "FILE, EDIT MESSAGE" capability that OE does not. However, the only thing I can think of is to do a reply or forward (but don't send it) and copy the text out and paste into a text editor, edit the content at that time and then print.

Hello,
I have my font setting set as Taffy, size 12. Well, when I receive emails some are displayed as fonts of their choice but others appear as the font that I've selected. This just started, outlook express did not previously do this. Was it something I did wrong? I've also noticed that once I reply to that email (the one that shows my font/size) I'm not able to change the font before sending. You're help would be great!! Thanks!

Hi, if I receive a message and want to save the music on my hard drive this is the way I do it, I go into TOOLS,OPTIONS,SEND unclick "Reply to messages using the format in which they were sent" and change MAIL SENDING FORMAT to plain text. Open your message and press forward to, you will then see all the attachments in the message even the music so you save only the music in a directory that you can retrieve later and play the music. Oh, do not forget to go back into your TOOLS,OPTIONS, SEND and put things the way they were. Well, my problem this morning is that the music attach.does not appear. Why is that? Can anyone help?

Using XP and OE6.
Last few days attachments received regardless of where/who they are from are being renamed by OE. Example a word doc called 'check this file' will appear as 'checkthisfile' with spaces gone. That would be okay except
a. I often copy files from friends etc and need to ensure I am working on latest one
b. If try to save this renamed attachment it saves as type 'file' and I have to open it with word then resave it as a word document.

My Sent Items and Inbox folders became filled with emails on Tuesday and I was unable to send or receive emails until I removed several thousand old emails from both folders (which I did, then the system was running fine again as of late Tuesday). I discovered this problem when I attempted to send 3 emails with attachments, making the emails around 5 megabytes each in size (I did not realize that the recipient's system could not handle any email more than 2 megabytes - thus, my Outlook Express kept trying to send these emails every 1 minute for 3 hours until I discovered the problem). I had to delete around 100 email notifications that the recipient could not receive emails at that size and that my email boxes were full.

I corrected these problems and relocated the emails from my Outlook Box to Drafts (until the recipient can change his settings).

All day Wednesday (yesterday) I was able to send & receive emails without a problem. This morning I was sending & recieving as well, then all of a sudden, I was unable to receive any emails. When Outlook attempts to receive, I briefly see a box with the number of emails attempting to be received, then I get an Unknown Error message. I am able to send emails without any problem and my Internet connection has been stable all day.

I've rebooted, turned on & off Outlook. I even disconnected my Internet connection, then reconnected it. I've checked my Outlook settings and they are fine. I also turned off my ... Read more

Answer:Outlook Express Won't Receive Emails - but Sends Emails with good Internet Connection

Hi rherrygers

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

Have you attempted to logon to your ISP's mail server to see what messages are still on the mail server along with determining the size of the messages?
Outlook Express may be timing out trying to download a message that is larger than normal.
Did you also send yourself a copy of the message with the attachment?

Can you post the exact error message please?
If the Send/Receive window is not appearing, you can make it appear by double clicking the area marked in red here:
When the Send/Receive window appears, click the Errors tab, right click on the error message and select Copy and paste the error message here.

Strange error, A windows 7 64 bit PC with Outlook 2010.
Some emails get cut off, meaning that if you send an email say with 100 lines in it, only half of it actually arrives to the recipient.

Weirdly, it's not the FIRST time you send it but if you reply to having it sent back to you.

Anyone ever seen this before?

Hi !
Notification for new emails in Outlook 2010
There is a builtin option for notification in Outlook 2010, but the problem is that it?s only visible for a very short time.
If you are not looking at the computer when it shows, then you will not see that you have got new emails.
I wrote a small program that fix the problem b? creating a permanent notification on your screen.
It creates a new window that does not go away until you have acknowledged it by typing "Y" or "y",
upper or lower-case doesn?t matter.
This also means that you get a new "open window" below the screen, so if another windows hides the notification-windows
you will still see it.
If the notification-window is not your topmost window then you will have to select it before you type "Y".

Answer:Outlook 2010 not receiving emails.

Once you have downloaded your messages on one device, and that device is configured to "delete messages on server after downloading", they won't exist anymore to download them on a different device or application. They can only be dowloaded one time.

I have recently installed MS Office 2010 on the Desktop at home which is primarily used by my wife. I had already installed it on my laptop (used by me) with no problems. My wife has a gmail account/email address and, when installing I was prompted for her preferred email address and password.

So far so good.

Outlook worked correctly for about 24 hours, after which it continued to display her incoming emails but stopped sending.

When trying to send an email the mail goes into Outbox but then hangs up. It does not send, nor does clicking 'Send All' do anything.

This is a problem we had on an earlier version of Office (Outlook 2003), which we never did get properly sorted out. What is irritating is that, as I said, Outlook continues to work fine for me on my laptop (with an aol email account) but not for my wife with a gmail account. Neither of us has or uses a hotmail account.

Can anyone help?

If I open Outlook, and wait till its fully loaded,i.e. its done a full sweep and downloaded any new emails,

if I then try and send ( or even reply back to a new email, the following happens.

I see that the Archives Outbox is bold and has a figure [ 1 ] ( in green ) this stays and stays and stays even if I close Outlook down even if I reboot, it is still there.

If I try and send another one the same thing happens except the figure now changes to [ 2 ]

I have two xp computers on my home network running OL 2003 POP3.
Now I have a new Laptop running OL 2010 IMAP.

So, I can perfectly view and send emails normally on the new Laptop running the OL 2010 IMAP. After several days of building up important emails on the OL 2010 all the emails dissapeared.

Problem occures when I booted up the XP computers running the OL 2003. It seems like OL 2003 down loaded all the residing emails already downloaded on the OL 2010 computer. some how OL 2003 keeps purging all the already read files off from the server and strangly removes them from the OL 2010 copy on the new laptop.

I have 3 POP/SMTP accounts and 1 MAPI (hotmail) account configured. The last couple of days they are presenting problems because they will not allow me to send an email. I have tried sending one email from any one of the three to the other, or any other recipient and the error is this:

"Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test
Sent: 2/7/2014 5:30 PM

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

() on 2/7/2014 5:30 PM
None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient."
Now the weird thing, this error message gets sent to the hotmail (MAPI)address almost immediately, which by my understanding, has nothing at all to do with the SMTP accounts. These accounts receive fine. Several resets, malware/virus scans no problems indicated.

I did notice that the TO: email address gets changed to "()"

It is easy when I am viewing a contact to click on the relevant symbol to send an email to that contact and an email form appears already pre-addressed. I type the email and send it. I know from experience and tests, as well as a tracking facility I use that the email gets sent and received. However, it doesn't go to my sent mail folder. This means I have no way of referring to the content of that email in future which is a nuisance. This is never a problem when I am sending emails from the usual new emails section, but sometimes it is quicker to send some emails from within contacts where various bits of data reside. I have tried everything I can find to solve my problem with no luck!
Windows 7
Outlook 2010

I have two accounts in Outlook, one is mine and one is my husbands. Server is local internet provider through our telephone company company. I have a business and get a lot of emails daily.....many are left in my inbox so I can go back to them at another time. Here is where the problem lies! I can see emails in the morning and when I go back to these later in the day...they are missing. Usually Outlook shows today's emails, the yesterday, then next day, etc. and stay there until deleted. Well, not any more!

A Dell technician has gone through every Outlook setting and cannot find the problem. The strange thing is that my husbands account is working perfectly. This is a huge problem for me, since many of these lost emails are from customers who are waiting for a reply.

I have gone to my webmail, and the missing emails are not showing there either. I hope there is someone here to can help.

Answer:Emails are recieved with delay on outlook 2010

This is because Outlook is not constantly checking for new mail but instead in predefined intervals. You can change the time interval for sending and receiving new mail in Send / Receive settings.

First open the Send / Receive Groups menu and select Define Send / Receive Groups:
Set the time interval (highlighted yellow):
Set the value to 1 minute to force Outlook to pick new mail every minute. Personally I have to say I really cannot see any reason to have Outlook constantly checking new mail, even at work it's enough for me to check 4 times per hour.

I loaded and set up outlook for my btinternet site, and can send mail but not receive it.
I have checked and rechecked the settings and they are the same as my thunderbird, and BTinternet website settings.
I am going mad trying to get it to work.
Please advise if you can.

I'm working on a project where we've migrated our user base from Windows XP to Windows 7 Enterprise. They're using Office 2010 Pro. I'm seeing this issue with only one specific user, and not really sure where to start with his troubleshooting. Have read through some forums, but doesn't seem to be a prevalent issue.

We've migrated his .NK2 file and most of his email cache is working. As he begins to type the address, it drops down with suggested emails. However, there are two specific addresses in the GAL which will not cache. I had him manually click on the 'To...' button in a new message, search the GAL for the user, click 'To...' once again in the bottom left of the address book to add the address to the message, click okay, and send the message. Normally this would be more than enough to get it to cache, but no such luck.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated guys.

Recently I've noticed Outlook has been taking a very long time to download my emails from the server, it's probably been happening for the past two weeks or so. I've had my new rig for a month or so and it was fine when I originally installed Office 2010, just as it was on my previous two rigs. Office 2010 is installed on my SSD with the OS, anti virus software and Adobe CS2, nothing else.
I haven't made any changes to the program either, it just seemed to go really slow by its own accord for some reason. I could probably upload 6GB or more worth of photos to, say, Photobucket quicker than downloading 700KB worth of emails in Outlook, yet my download speed in 60MB and my upload speed is 3MB. All other net based stuff is fine, very low pings (pings at anywhere around 9ms), no lost packets and a stable connecttion at all times.

This isn't end of the world stuff and I'm not overly concerned if it doesn't get sorted out. I haven't spent a lot of time looking into at all (probably less than it took me to type all of this out) but thought I'd ask you guys who know this stuff inside out if you had any ideas.

Answer:Outlook 2010 Slow Downloading Emails

In earlier versions of Outlook, when downloaded the mails, it only downloaded the message headers by default. But in Outlook 2010, By default, it downloads both the emails and the attachments for every folder. As the result, Outlook mailboxes larger than 1 GB may takes a long time to download their messages. This setting was changed in Outlook 2010 to allow the program to index all content and display information about the emails and attachments each contact has sent Follow these steps to change this setting to only download the message headers to speed up Outlook:
Run Outlook 2010.
Click the Send/Receive tab.
Click Send/Receive Groups and select Define Send.Receive Groups.
This will allow you to edit settings for send/receive groups.
Select All Accounts and click Edit.
Click the Download headers for subscribed folders option.
Click OK.
Click Close.

I have tried to resolve the issue by following the advice in another thread here but that hasn't worked.

It's not every email so it is not a consistent problem. However as it is to a help desk email address that I use for running tech support for a client it isn't looking good when I have to keep asking them to resend time after time!

Hope you can help.

No Picture in Outlook 2010 eMails
Hello, When I go to view emails in outlook 2010 I have no pictures.
This changed some how all of a sudden.
Now, I know that this is probably because of security but there are certain emails that I get all the time that... I would like to see pictures in and then there are curtain ones that I don't care about.
So, my question is how do I get outlook to show those emails that I want to see pictures in the get outlook to always show pictures in those emails.
Sincerely,
Damian86

I have 584 emails from my wife who died recently. They are in a folder in Outlook 2010. This computer is BADLY in need of replacement and I would like to export (save) all these 584 on a flash drive or an enternal drive so I can re-install them on a new computer (into Outlook 2010 on the new machine). Can this be done and how?
Thanks so much - this means a great deal to me.
