How do I import Hotmail folders into my Outlook account?

Question: How do I import Hotmail folders into my Outlook account?

I have perused many forums about this and can find nothing that is comprehensible or useful!

I have created a folder in my Outlook for my Hotmail account, and the Inbox contents have come over but not the folders. It seems a simple request but I can't find a solution.

1. I don't need Outlook Connecter - the account is already created.
2. Microsoft Help is useless, so please don't tell me to go there!
3. If you are going to speak to me of .pst files, please explain what they are, where they are and what to do with them!

I can't find anything in the Outlook menus - am I missing something? I also can't find anything in Hotmail.

PLEASE HELP!!

Preferred Solution: How do I import Hotmail folders into my Outlook account?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just got a Lumia 830 as work phone, but I have a bit of a problem with importing contacts from exchange account. When I create a new contact in outlook 2010 I have several folders where my contacts are. But When I do this It won't import the contacts, but if I move a contact to the standard folder "contacts" I will import right a way.

Anyone know how to do this?

I have tons of contacts online (in Hotmail) and I would like to be able to acces them when i am at home using Outlook xp.

Can anyone help

Thanks

Answer:Import Hotmail contacts into Outlook

This may or may not work,
1. First have the HotMail acct installed in your OE application. To do this follow instrucitons at this link
2. Than open up Address Book> TOOLS> Press Synchronize Now.
3. This will move contacts from the Address Book's Main Contact folder
(not any contacts in sub-folders that you have created) to the HotMail
Address Book, and visa versa. You will need to check both address books
for duplicate entries, and delete as necessary.

Hope it helps

Folks I have read the MS tech notes on how to get Outlook 2003 [I have it via Office 2003 Professional, full install] to import from OE6. It fails under either option: import from "another program" or "Import Internet Mail....". Under the former it is pointed to the correct folder, but fails with Error: Cannot open,.. another program in use" but there's not... I tried copying the folder to a nice clean location on the C: and checked all the properties, nothing interfering, still won't open the folder.
Under the latter option it just doesn't do anything after directing it to the correct folder. Seems to accept the command, closes the window, but does not import anything. No error messages.

Umm.... do MS teams communicate with one another??

Closely related: If I could just get the FOLDERS I had setup it would be a great asset, or if i could just get the ADDRESS book it would help. Do you know how to import *.dbx folders into Outlook 2003? Or the old outlook Express address Book?

thx

Answer:Outlook 2003 Will Not Import Outlook Express folders, mail, anything

They are written in two different formats that are uncompatible. The Oulook Express has a file sytem totally unique to it.

I had the same problem about 6 weeks ago going from XP to Win7.
I had to transfer address book to notepad and put it into Outlook one at a time. The old mail sits in the old PC.
I have heard you can transfer the OE mail files over to Windows mail or gmail etc. Then transfer files from the new mail server to Outlook.
File system is changed over with the mail transfer- I haven't tried it though.
Mike

I did a Google and found this. I didn't find this page six weeks ago.

Hi,

I have been trying to import my Outlook 2007 contacts to my Hotmail account.

I have exported a copy of my contacts from MS Outlook 2007 to a .csv file. But when in Hotmail I am unable to import the .csv file to my Hotmail contacts list.

I have followed the online steps for doing this and still nothing.

Is Outlook 2007 compatible with Windows Live Hotmail?

And does anyone have any ideas on how to overcome this problem?

Thanks,

watty.

Can you get back old Hotmail account, after having renamed it to new Outlook account?
Well here is Microsoft's answer on Reddit!

If you renamed your account, and want to rename it back to the original name, you can do that.
IMPORTANT: This may not work if you are outside of the US and have a "@live.com" or "@Hotmail.com" address!
First, remove the alias that was created when you renamed your account (the alias will be for the original name).
Go to http://account.live.com, select "Notifications" then "manage your email preferences" and you'll find links to remove aliases.
Second, go back to the Rename page, Sign In and rename back to the original name.

Hope it helps someone!

I inadvertently hit the Outlook Express icon on my desktop. All my emails in my Windows Live inbox were then exported into Outlook Express and the emails no longer appear in my Windows Live inbox. Supposedly, I can import the emails back into Windows Live using the File menu in Windows Live. However, I cannot find the Windows Live file menu. Supposedly, I can hit my Alt M key and make the full menu appear in Windows Live. However, hitting the Alt M key on my keyboard has no effect on Windows Live.

To sum up.

How do I make the File menu appear in Windows Live?
Once I get access to the File menu, how do I complete the import process from Outlook Express to Windows Live?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

I'm fed up with web mail and want to move to Outlook as my only mail source. The problem is, if I use Outlook, I won't be able to get all of the emails that I've organized into folders in Yahoo mail without taking every single one out of the folders and letting it sync. Outlook is able to sync the folders just fine with "Outlook Online." Is there a way that I can make Yahoo Mail do this?

Answer:Import existing yahoo folders into Outlook 2010?

Actually isn't too complex but depending on the number of Webmail folders you have it may take time - but only once!

I would:
In Outlook create identical folders you have in Webmail.
Set Outlook to REMOVE FROM IMAP SERVER otherwise you must manually DELETE the emails after Download (steps 6 & 7 below).
In Webmail, make sure your Inbox is empty.
Open a Webmail folder and SELECT ALL emails in the folder.
Under Actions, select Move Inbox then click Apply - the emails move to your Inbox.
In Outlook, initiate Send/Receive.
Once received, select all and move to the desired folder.
Repeat.

GEWB

Hi, I have exported a list of empty folders from Lotus Notes and saved them in Excel. It's a simple list with the names of the folders (e.g., USCS\2. Cross-Sector Services\CMR\j2G). I want to use the same folders in Outlook 2007. I am VBA-illiterate but it seems a VBA macro would be the best way to import the folders and tell Outlook 2007 to put them under the Inbox = Inbox\USCS\2. Cross-Sector Services\CMR\j2G. I have attached a file with 10 sample folders. Any help would be appreciated! Best, M

I decided to backup (copy) all my folders with messages in Outlook Express 6. I did a Google search and found numerous sites which gave specific instructions for doing this. All, including Microsoft, were basically the same. I exported to my desktop assuming everything would be in one folder, but rather every folder was displayed separately. I created a New Folder and dragged them all into it. I then opened OE6 and found there were no messages at all there. I then followed the suggested procedure for importing back to OE6 and the messages returned. I then deleted the New Folder I had created on the desktop and re-opened OE6. All messages were gone again. I was able to recover most of them (not all) by restoring from the Recycle Bin. I have attempted several times to recover all the messages and restore OE6 to the exact state it was in before I started this process, but could not. I picked a date prior to beginning this and did a System Restore, but it still left all the icons (folders) with messages on the desktop. Every time I would attempt to import these back to OE6, I would loose more messages. I have tried everything I can find information on but with no success. I simply want to get as many of my messages and folders back to OE6 and removed from the desktop. Can you help?

Answer:Export-Import Messages (Folders) in Outlook Express 6

Please tell us...the exact steps you took...to import messages into the new message store. You know...you could simply have changed your message store...to that folder...and your email would have worked fine. It's not necessary to import messages into OE6...if you just change the message store location. I have all my old emails in folders labeled "2009 Emails", "2008 Emails" and so on and I do not use the default message store (which is in Documents and Settings).Inside Outlook Express - Files and Settings - The OE Store Folder - http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm Louis

Greetings.
My old PC was threatening to konk out in a major way, so I made certain to back up all important data before it finally gave up the ghost. The most important data for us is, of course, our email.
I was running Outlook 2002 on Windows XP for quite a long time. I backed up our Outlook 2002 personal folders as .pst files.
Our old machine zonked out and today we bought a machine with Vista installed. I have successfully gotten Office XP with Outlook 2003 installed onto the new PC and am now trying to import our old email folders from the backup I made.

Unfortunately, when I try to import the files, I am presented with the following error:

File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file E:\inbox.pst

I hope that someone here is able to tell me that all is not lost and that I will not have to tell my wife that all of our backedf up email is gone, gone, gone.

Any help will be appreciated.

Sounds like an easy fix - read here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258468
and here:

Just make sure the file is not read-only, and if E is a CD. copy it to your hard drive and then try again.

I have a Windows 10 phone (Verizon 735), a couple of Windows 10 laptops, and annual Office 365 subscription. Just a home user and have all my Contacts/Calendar in Outlook, but don't have an Outlook email account....just AOL accounts which I get via Imap/Pop.
In past, I setup m.hotmail.com to sync across laptops and phone but sketchy at best. Just got notifications to "Re-connect Outlook 2016 ". Deleted old Outlook account and added new account....tried no hotmail this time. Outlook came up great...only 1 calendar!!!!! However nothing syncing with phone. Assume still need hotmail?
All I want to do is have my Outlook contacts and calendar synced with all my devices. Assume this should be very basic as guess all this is on "My Cloud"? Also, should be the minimum if Windows phone has any chance. Appreciate any help.

I am migrating from an XP SP3 desktop to a Windows 7 64 bit machine. I use Outlook Express extensively on the XP machine, but have loaded Live Mail on the W7 one as the recommended solution.

I have experimented with the Import function in Live Mail using the .dbx files produced by OE held under 'Identities' but find that the Account field for each email (visible in Live Mail when the Account column is enabled) is not being populated in Live Mail. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug? I note that any new emails I receive do populate the Account field, and I am confident that the Account information is present in the .dbx files.

I would like to find a workaround for this problem - any ideas folks?

Many thanks

I suppose you could call it a bug. It seems to happen whenever you do an import using the "import/export" "wizards". Not just with OE>WLM but also WLM>WLM. (Same with Vista's built-in WM.) It's been too long for me to remember what happened when I last did OE>OE. Keep in mind that wherever an import/export is involved (even with contacts), some fields are lost.

Answer:outlook and hotmail account

The free Hotmail account will no longer work with Outlook. If I remember rightly a figure of about £12.00 is required to open yourself up to the biggest Spam-fest in the business.Don't get me wrong, I use Hotmail, but the levels of spam in it's system is huge and their filters only get about 2/3rd of it. You also have to check the spam folder anyway, just to see if anything has been incorrectly assigned.I reckon it's less hastle to leave the lot on line.

I am not fussed about the money but I am not sure if the technician is genuine?

That option is a scam. Currently, Hotmail/Outlook are having problems, down for many users.

I told the computer NO I do NOT want to "try" outlook go directly to hotmail when it started showing up upon log in. Well it ignored me and forced it on me anyway. At first it would let me just use that gear thing and tell it to switch back. It KEEPS doing it though? Is there a way to make it NOT automatically force the outlook on me? Something is wrong with it if I use the IE browser to get into my email. It lets me log in then sits there spinning its wheels indefinitely. I figured out to go use a different computer with firefox on it to log in so I could at least clean it out from all the junk but I am fed up now. Am I or am I not going to be aloud to KEEP hotmail. Will I eventually be forced to keep the outlook? I hate to have to do it but if that is the case I need to quick pull all my contacts etc and start using yahoo or something else that actually WORKS and lets me delete crap without opening it first!

Answer:outlook keeps taking over my hotmail account

As I understand it we can continue to use hotmail.com and live.com addresses indefinitely. I suspect that the Hotmail GUI will disappear completely one of these days and we'll be left with the Outlook GUI or one of Microsoft's email clients.

I have an outlook account <removed by mod>
i'm not able to login here because of password is incorrect, so finally how to reset it. I'm using window 10 OS.
I need toll free Outlook/Hotmail support number.

Answer:How to get back into my Outlook/Hotmail account?

i have removed the email address as it will provide you with a lot of SPAM
There is no support number , for outlook/hotmail as far as I know, BUT that may have changed now with Windows 8 (when MS first started linking email accounts to PCs for login)
you can goto chat - and MS will assist via Chat service

If you have forgotten the password - goto another Pc that works
Login page for the account
Then click on forgotten password
you then have to either do
a) Enter the mobile number to get a text code to reset - these should have been set up when the account was first created
b) Enter the alternative email address to get a Code to reset - these should have been set up when the account was first created
c) Enter the answers to the security questions

If you cannot do any of these - then there is a form to try and rescover the account
You need to provide a lot of details, and on the three attempts I have tried this to help people, they have an email back saying not enough information and ended up changing to a new email address and never did recover - BUT Thats before this windows 8 and using MS password

so you maybe OK to use Chat line

What country are you in - you may have a support number - not sure it will be toll free
the UK is 0344 800 2400

Hi.
I still have a Hotmail account I want to secure better. Right now all I have to do is enter my email address and then approve the login with the authenticator on my phone.
Well jeez.. talking about making it easy to break into my account! If someone knows the code of my phone, all they need to do is look at my iPhone info and they can see my email address. Then, simply enter the email address and approve it and BAM they're in!
At least Gmail asks for a password AND the authenticator code when logging onto an 'unknown' device. Or does it work the same way for Hotmail/Live/Outlook?
I prefer to always log in with my password initially. If I didn't have a password on my PC, they'd very easily be able to log into my Hotmail account, since 'stealing' a phone login code is very, very easy. People will just stand behind you, watch you tap your login and BAM it's game over. Sure, they'd still need to get a hold of my phone, but man, I just hate it that Hotmail switched it around.
You should always have to enter your password first, and an extra code from your phone as an extra.
I'm asking this specifically, because my Gmail has a Hotmail account as backup email address.
Thanks.

This past week, every time I've opened OE, Ive had to synchronize the account to show the hotmail folders. Then every message in each folder has to be re-downloaded. 'Set program access and defaults' is set to use OE, but each time I return to that page, the settings have been changed.

Today I had OE open all afternoon while writing emails and all my folders disappeared again and a message appeared "there are not any folders to show for this account. would you like to view a list of available folders now? y/n". I dont know why this is happening, but I would just love my email folders to stay put for a change."

Aussiegirl's thread is marked as "Solved" but there are no clues in the replies as to how the problem was solved. I have tried to email aussie girl for a solution but she has opted to not receive emails from members.

I use Windows XP home (SP2), AGV 7.5, Outlook Express 6 and IE 7.0

Can anyone help me please?

I am going to close down my old Hotmail account as getting far too much spam and have opened a new Outlook account. Is there a way to transfer some of my folders from old to new without going through each one and mailing the saved enmails to my new Outlook account ?

Answer:Transfer folders contents from Hotmail to Outlook

This article explains the various steps to migrate contacts and mail from Windows Live to Outlook. Under the heading of migrate mail you will see that item 5 says "select which folders you would like to export to Outlook" - whether it keeps all of the e-mails in the folders I don't know.

For a long time I was happy to use Outlook Express for all my emails (hotmail with msn.com). I arranged incoming emails in named folders which I could structure with sub-folders eg a 'personal' folder with subfolders for each friend I corresponded with.I shifted to Outlook as my email client because MS told me (ages ago) that I could no longer use OE for hotmail. The change hasn't been for the better. In particular, I don't seem to be able to create sub-folders any more. Is it possible? If so, how? (And if not, why not?).Another oddity seems to be that the messages are (apparently) not on my PC - or are they?

Answer:Outlook 2002 HotMail Folders & Subfolders

What you can do may depend on the email system you're using (I've never used Hotmail!). In general though, if you are using POP3 protocol, messages are retrieved from the ISP's POP3 server and stored in your computer. You should be able to create whatever sub-folders within the Inbox that you want to. With IMAP4 protocol, messages remain on the ISP's IMAP server and your email program "synchronises" with the server either automatically or when you run a Send/Receive session. As Hotmail is essentially a web-based system, you may be able to create sub-folders by going to the Hotmail website to configure them. If Hotmail is using Microsoft Exchange Server then, similarly to IMAP, Outlook will "synchronise" with the mail on the server rather than downloading and storing in your PC. This could be the reason why you have to use Outlook instead of Outlook Express which does support IMAP. Again, you may be able to configure sub-folders on the website, which Outlook will then pick up as it synchronises with the mail server.

I recently boought Office 2003 and I am having some trouble setting Outlook to open my hotmail account. Whenever I try to "Add new e-mail account" onto Outlook I go through the wizard and follow all the instructions (entering my e-mail account name, password etc) and it gets as far as transferring my hotmail files to Outlook and then an error window apears saying "the server responded 'access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook express now requires a subscription' please upgrade at http//upgrade.msn.com'".Ok I checked out that link and the only way to upgrade there is by paying a subscription (which I don't want to do). Also the funny thing is that a friend of mine just configured his Hotmail account to Outlook only a few days ago without a problem??Does anyone know how I can set up Outlook to my Hotmail without paying a subscription??

Answer:Setting up Outlook 2003 with my hotmail account???

As suggested in this link click hereyou could try MrPostman from click hereThis works for most webmail. I tried it with Yahoo, just to test it, and it worked It is has a configuration to work with Hotmail.I am not going to delete my Hotmail folders to try it while I can currently D/L to OE :-))

Hello,

I have a Microsoft account and I am using it with Windows 10.

I want to use the Windows 10 built in Mail App.

It seem very nice.

I added multiple Gmail and Yahoo accounts without any issue.

But, finally, when I want to add more Hotmail accounts Windows 10 told me to use "Windows Hello" or something like that.

I really don't want that Windows adds ANOTHER USER in my computer, I only want to use MULTIPLE Hotmail/Outlook mails and their contacts and calendar!!!

I am afraid that it will add them as USERS of the computer, I don't want it!!!

PS: I found an half solution, I don't add the Hotmail account as "Outlook" account but as GENERIC INTERNET account. And it works. But I cannot use CONTACT and CALENDARS of it.

Hi Guys

I have an old hotmail account so I can use programs such as outlook to view my e-mails which is what I have been doing for many years though Outllook 2002,2003 and now 2007. Everything has been fine up until this week when I started getting a 0x800cccf0 error. I have looked this up on google and it tells me that it happens when you have more than one hotmail account I don't and that is only for outlook 2002. I have attached a jpeg so you can see the error message in full. I don't know if it is a hotmail problem or not my NTL account is working fine. The PW is correct as I can log onto the webmail.

Any Ideas

Recently I have configured my Hotmail Live email account in Outlook 2007 through POP account wizard. All of my inbox mails got downloaded but my personal folders (Sent, Jobs, Family, Finance, etc.) were not configured / downloaded.

I understand that by installing Outlook Connector I can download personal folders. But I dont want to install Connector as I see people have many problems with that.

I would appreciate if anyone can guide me as how can I download personal folders without installing connector.

I am running Outlook 2003 on Windows XP Prof. I installed Outlook Connector 12.1 and added my hotmail and MSN accounts. Both showed up in my mail folders list and both connected to the web and downloaded just fine.

When I tried to Send/Receive just my hotmail account, it was not listed in the Send/Receive group, so I checked the Email Accounts list. The hotmail account is not listed in my Email Accounts list (tools, Email Accounts, View/change), yet it is showing in the Mail Folders. I can send mail from that account if I hit reply on a received message but not if I try to select that account on a new message. I uninstalled Connector, and removed MSN from the list but I cannot remove hotmail as it’s not on the list of accounts. When I try to close the folder (right click, close [email protected]) I get an error saying to use the Email Accounts list to remove it...but it’s not on the list.

Any idea how to remove an email account that shows up in the Mail Folders but is not listed as an account in the Email Account list? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Solved: Outlook Connector- remove Hotmail account

I_am_psYon,

Welcome to TSG!

Try this:

In Outlook's Account Settings window, go to the Data Files tab and select your Personal Folders and click Open Folder.

In the window that comes up you should see a file named emailid_hotmail.ost. Close Outlook and delete this file.

Reopen Outlook to see if Hotmail account is gone.

Hi. I have a similar problem. I don't have a Microsoft account, I don't want one. My Windows 8 E-Mail address is for the E-Mail account on the family webserver, and yet when I get the confirmation E-Mail, it links me to a hotmail/outlook login page.

hotmail/outlook can't process my Windows 8 E-Mail account, how do I get past this aggravating obstacle?

Answer:hotmail/outlook can't process my Windows 8 E-Mail account

When Win 8 asks you to verify your account, it shows you your email address in one box with some of the characters replaced by *s and wants you to type in the email address in its entirety in another box. Once you do that, an email is sent to that address with a code for you to enter to verify.

There shouldn't be any confusion about which email address to enter unless you have 2 different but very similar email addresses.

All Windows Live Hotmail accounts can be used with Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 or with Office Outlook 2003, whether you use a free or paid Windows Live Hotmail account. To use your Windows Live Hotmail account together with Outlook, you must first install the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector for Windows Live Hotmail.

Hello,

By default, when adding hotmail accounts on Outlook using EAS, the account got added with FULL HOTMAIL NAME:
[email protected]

There was a process by which the left pane of Outlook showed any Name that user wanted.

Now with reconnecting Hotmail account in Outlook (going to Exchange), the same situation of FULL HOTMAIL NAME in the left panel has come up.

The older process (with EAS) does not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I have a IMAP Hotmail account running on Outlook 2007 and suddenly it doesn't delete emails when I use the delete function on the toolbar and only sometimes deletes when I use the keyboard delete key, only then after going to another folder and coming back to my in box. I have tried running Account Setting again, even reloading my account. I used my Office 2007 disc to delete Outlook and reload it and still the problem persists. I have used Outlook 2007 and Hotmail for years without this problem. Has Windows 10 done something in an update that might cause this or what else could be my problem?

I have somehow deleted my personal folders in my inbox. When I restore a .pst file from previous backup, I have everything such as inbox, deleted items, sent items, etc. However, the personal folders I created within inbox are missing. I am so confused. They have had to been backed up because I can go back and recover deleted emails from years ago, yet I still cannot find my very important folders that I created within my inbox. This pertains to the discussion as I am using Outlook 2013 and I was able to find them when my hard drive failed a year ago, but as of two days ago, I cannot find them. Is there something hiding them? I have used scanpst.exe as well but to no avail.

I have been cleaning up my folders/files and moved all my videos and images + documents to an external hard drive. Now I can't find all my current emails and folders. I can find an old version from beginning of 2013 with a different email address I no longer use.

However, I have just checked my external drive and I have found one OUTLOOK data file file showing my correct email address size 1.36 Gb and a small data OUTLOOK file size 158MB.

How can I restore and transfer the two data files back into my OUTLOOK? I also need to get rid of the older version email address which I no longer use.

Hope someone could help me please.

Answer:OH DEAR!! I have lost all folders in my OUTLOOK Mail account.

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,

Have you checked for any previous versions of the data file? From the file properties tab "Previous Versions" (assuming you have System Restore turned on for files)

You handle all data files from the Account Settings, tab "Data files". But I think you can just copy and replace the data file with your backup as long as the names are the same and Outlook isn't running.

I would imagine they are not lost, just in a different user profile now.

Search your hard drive for *.DBX files, these are your OE folders.

Once you find them, you should be able to re-import into current OE.

I have Outlook on my Iphone 6 for work and the app provides for the ability to create folders as I organize my mail. I have my personal Windows Phone with Outlook mail and the inability for create folders. Why would the iOS have better features and this is a must have for those of us on the road.

Answer:Why does Outlook on WP 10586 lack the critial option to create new folders in your mail account?

The iPhone app was finished a while back, before Microsoft bought it and renamed the app Outlook. It was created by another developer that Microsoft bought out.
Microsoft then started to work on porting it to Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile as a universal app, and it isn't yet completed.
Once it is complete, new features will be coming to Windows first in the future, as will be the case with all of Microsoft apps for Windows 10. For now, it will just take a while to catch up with the features.
It is coming.

I can’t access my HOTMAIL accounts- HOTMAIL support?

I learned about Microsoft’s new policy of not allowing you to send email from Hotmail using it’s own products Outlook and Outlook Express unless you are paying an additional fee, when I replied to a (Hotmail) email while using OE. After sending my reply I received an error message that OE could not access the account. It then proceeded to DELETE all my previous email message in outlook express for this account.

A web search then led me discover that this account was one of those now requiring payment of a fee to send mail using Outlook or OE instead of logging on to the website. (They are doing this in stages so some HOTMAIL accounts still allow the free use and access with Outlook/OE.)

I then tried to sign on to my account using another Microsoft product Internet Explorer- initially everything looked unchanged,

1. however after typing in my name and password instead of opening my account

2. I got a new screen of “scrambled letters” designed to prove that a person and not a machine is accessing my account.

3. I type in these scrambled letters and one of two things happens:

a. (Usually) I receive yet another screen of scrambled letters to input

b. (Occasionally) I receive the “sign in screen” again EITHER WAY

4. Whichever screen I receive- whether I input scrambled letters yet again or insert my name and password the process repeats itself and one of two things happens:

I've never used Outlook or Outlook Express in any form my self, so I can only offer some limited suggestions for sorting this out.

First: have you tried deleting all cookies and accessing the account? If using XP/2k -- it may even be helpful to try creating a new User Profile and logging in under that, this will ensure you have an entirely new web cache, index.dat and cookie folder.

Try accessing the account from another computer and see if you get in that way.

i got this surprise when i was unable to log in into skype then i when to my email and i got this
and after several emails to support i got an answer saying that

"ve verified that a serious violation of the Microsoft Services Agreement occurred on your account .......................   Due to the nature of this violation, and pursuant to the terms of the Microsoft Services Agreement, Microsoft can neither grant you access to the contents of your account,..."
whats next now?
i want to know what happened exactly, and can that be appealed?

Answer:Problem with hotmail account, account temporarily suspended)

Ask them for a appeal? The only ones who will know what happened is them. Do you happen to use Skype to send adult content? I hear they have been cracking down on that more.

My Windows 10 account is somehow tied to a hotmail account I don't remember creating. Is there any way I can turn it into a local account? I don't really want it to be connected

Go into All Settings and choose Accounts. Under the 'Your Account' menu you'll see an option on the right to 'Sign in with a local account instead' - choose this.

I've searched the forums & via Google & can't seem to find a solution to this problem. I've been trying to import an ICS calendar file into my online Live or Hotmail Calendar, to also use in Outlook Office, but each time I import the ics file from my computer or SkyDrive, the import fails with the following message. I've checked what the message is asking me to check, but those settings are fine & so is the internet connection. I can import into the Outlook on PC My Calendar, but not for the Live Calendar.

The same error occurs no matter if I import into a New Calendar or Existing Calendar.
Any ideas?

Error Message after Import.

I had several hotmail accounts that I could view in the Nokia 930 windows 10.
I have not installed any apps (however there wsa an app that I do not know what was doing there with the text showing @\user\microsoft\windowsapp\ etc. the text was longer an I was not able to remove the app)
However the problem of the emails did not arise after the above app was mysteriously installed but happened before.
It looked like that one specific account was inexplicably confused with another email account...e when I was tapping on one Icon app of hotmail account I would actually read the email of another account.
My main Email setup account within windows phone setup had disappeared and when trying to re added it was saying that it was already setup.
Therefore I could only but hard rest my phone. I have hard reset it four times now and every time I setup the account with my main Email account everything is fine but when I add another email account it all goes wrong with similar variations of the above issue and now I even have an error message saying the account the I added
Now I am getting has the settings out of date. I tap FIX button there is some activity but nothing happens.
How can I fix this!!!

My wife wants to change her hotmail name to reflect her new name (which would require an account change)

My question is, where is the setting that can foward your emails to another address inside hotmail? or is this possible? she doesnt want to give up her name because everything she's done for the past 7 years has been on that name.

Answer:Receiving hotmail from another hotmail account?

There is no automatic forwarding option in Hotmail that I am aware of.

A friend has just set up a new system in Win2000 using OE6.

He has several message folders in OE6 on his old machine running Win98.

How does he transfer the desired message folders to the new machine? I have tried to do this without success. Microsoft seems to have made this operation very difficult. I have done this procedure often with Netscape message folders and it is relatively simple.

I can find the Outlook Express dbx files associated with the desired folders on the Win98 machine but how do I get their contents to the new computer???

Answer:Export/Import of OE folders

emails in folders
you need to recreate the folders on the new PC
then transfer the .dbx files
caution: it will replace any existing .dbx files of the same name

so obviously if you have email in the inbox and you replace it with the old inbox.dbx - the new ones are toast

at this point (already using OE on the new PC) i'd transfer the old ones to a new folder - 'transfer', which will create transfer.dbx on the old PC
copy it to floppy

then create a 'transfer' folder in the new PC
close OE
then transfer the old transfer.dbx to the new machine

see tomsterdam's OE site for more - and the use of OE BackUp to do the same thing, including importing the address book

it's easier to do it all at once with OE BackUp before you start using OE on a new PC, but the manual way works fine too

note: remember the default security setting in OE6 which disables viewing/receiving attachments
- go to the tools, options, security tab and uncheck the box if that's what you want

I am trying to work with Gmail. I have numerous email folders in Outlook Express that I sort my important emails in. How can I import them into Gmail. I'm not getting any support from Gmail at all.http://images.techguy.org/smilies/confused.gif

Answer:Gmail import folders?

do you want to just use Gmail
so a mail received by gmail will be automatically assigned to a folder - like an outlook express rule

is so just use the gmail filer option and you can labell the email
works just like outlook express

However, if you want the mail you already have in outlook express to go to gmail - not sure what you mean
