Question: Gaming Laptop

I found a really decent laptop from, but I have a concern about it.

When I google search P170EM, I find that it's made by "CLEVO". And that it's listed a LOT cheaper at other places. I'm willing to spend $1700 on a laptop with no questions asked. But if I can get it cheaper, and more options, then I'll go that route. So what gives? I also find that Sager NP9170 is extremely familiar to the one at

Either way, what are some good websites that offer gaming laptops? I've been messing with iBuyPower, SagerLaptops.. I'd REALLY like to have a AsUS laptop but I can't configure them :'(

Preferred Solution: Gaming Laptop

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm just going to make a long story short and say this: I bought an ibuypower laptop (Battalion HEL80) a while back and I had to format. Unfortunately I don't have the driver disk for my network card (wired and wireless) and I don't know what the exact model or who the manufacturer is. Does anyone know what kind of card this laptop would have or know of some way I could get the model number?

Answer:Can't find network drivers for ibuypower laptop

I believe it uses an Intel 945PM chipset.

If so it probably uses an Intel NIC. You can download the chipset drivers from here:*%20XP%20Home%20Edition&lang=eng
And the NIC drivers from here:* XP Home Edition&lang=eng

Hi Jage_B. Try an application like Everest. It should be able to tell you who the manufacturer is of all of the hardware components in the system. Whether or not drivers are available is another question lol. Here's a link for Everest:

has anyone heard good/bad things about this site?

I'm someone who lacks the ability to build their own PC and i've seen quite a few people recommend this site for building gaming rigs, so i was wondering if this is a good place to buy a PC from...

my desktop is an ibuypower computer which i think is pretty good but their tech support is really sh*tty and on top of that say if u purchase 2GB of ram and your motherboard will only support 1gb they will only give u the 1gb and they wont even tell that ur mobo aint compatiable with it. if u want to build a ocmputer there like i did i searches the stuff i was getting and made sure it would work with each other. but if u can get it built and it performs well its a kick ass computer like mine

This is where is primarily want to buy my rig from so any input is greatly needed. Don't buy from them, build your own and save money. Most their comps come dead when you get them.

Having issues with BSOD and i can't find out why or how it happens. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
thank you. I've never used a forum before, and have no idea what else to do in my position. I uploaded the files that you will need to solve this if you can, thanks again. Also my temps read around 40-60 because i play mmos, and my rear fan runs hard core alot even with case open, and idk if its just the fact that its a gaming pc or if it is telling me of a soon to come heat problem.

Answer:BSOD like many others. New iBuyPower....

Uninstall Avast then use the removal tool. Set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Automatic and start them too, using services.msc.

Update Realtek HD Audio codec driver from their website:

RTKVHD64 RTKVHD64.sys Fri Mar 29 09:40:06 2013 (515599B6)

Update motherboard bios to newest version.

Likely that the memory is not configured well, mismatched, or defective.

Please attach a screenshot of CPU-Z first tab, one of memory tab and one each for each stick of RAM of SPD tab - along with newest crash dumps - if necessary after completing the above. (Or perhaps Avast removal is the trick instead.)

I have never heard of an Ibuypower, but I do have an Emachine. I am still using an Emachine 333id model. I would say an Emachine. Go with what I know LOL.

I am on my 3rd machine (4th if you want to be technical). Built the third time. Build the machine if you can afford it. If you check my past post you can see just how fustrating it can be, but normally not that hard.

Anyway, what's troubling me is that a look at their ratings at is "great"

So my question is has anyone here had experiences with that company along with suggestions, etc. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone out there know if the iBuypower computers or other computer out there on like Tigerdirect or the ZT brands from Costo are any good? I've never heard of them but keep seeing them popping up everywhere....

I've only ever had a Dell, HP or Gateway machine.

Answer:iBuypower and other non-namebrand computers

They're most often made from quite much better quality parts than Dell, etc as they don't get exclusively extra cheap motherboards and other parts like the big brand companies. They do sometimes use lower quality power supplies though, quite a feat considering what the factory built boxes have. I wouldn't recommend getting any of them without modifying it yourself and selecting a quality power supply for it, or replacing it yourself to save a few dozen dollars, as well as getting a longer warranty for the PSU.

Answer:Ibuypower Or Cyberpower Laptops?

Ummm , the styling looks a little old, like the " C " series Dell. It is also AMD. More then likely it is a good notebook. awahat you have to think about is worst case scenario, this probably will not happen, what if you have a major failure. How good are they with warranty. Will they send you the part like Dell does or will you need to send the whole notebook in. I see a lot of Dells which also means if a few years down the road you crack the LCD, you more then likely can buy one on ebay instead of paying double or triple from the OEM. Also site support like drivers. support email. How much do you have to spend ? Have you looked at alienware notebooks ( they are owned by dell)

This was an "Opened and resealed" deal from I knew the unit wouldn't last for too long as-is but I did at least expect it to work on arrival. Out of the box it would turn on for about half a second and then it would die. After I got it opened, I reseated RAM and GPU and all of the other motherboard connections and then it would start. When I connect it to a monitor, though, the monitor  just sits there in a dormant state. BIOS doesn't even try to run. Neither the motherboard's connection nor the graphic card's will work. I know the motherboard is at least partially functional because the CPU and GPU fans are running. The tech told me it was either the motherboard or the PSU, but given that the stock PSU that they use on Amazon is only $25, I'm betting that it's the PSU, but I'm not an expert. I had the tech trace the serial number and it turns out that this website nobetterdeal bought the unit from amazon. com after a customer returned it. I have about 24 days to decide on getting a refund or keeping the parts. What do you think? Does it sound like the PSU? Or is it more likely the motherboard? Thanks!Specs: Motherboard: Gigabyte Ultra Durable GA-78LMT-USB3PSU: ALLIED ATX12V Model #:  SL-8320BTXOther Specs:     AMD FX-4130 (3.8GHz)    8GB DDR3, Power Supply: 300 WATT    1000 GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive    AMD Radeon 6670 1GB    Windows 8

Answer:iBuyPower Dead On Arrival

Update: I've tried starting the computer with 1 stick of RAM installed and no RAM installed. Didn't make a difference. I've also tried starting it without the graphics card. \Also, the CD-ROM drive will not open. I've confirmed that it's connected to the PSU and the motherboard, but no love. I'm not really sure what that implies. If it sounds like the PSU I think I'll take the plunge and buy another one for $25. If it might be the motherboard too..idk.

Hey all, new to the forums and in pretty serious need of some help. I bought an IBUYPOWER prebuilt gaming rig last... April I think, and its been working great for me. Recently however ( the last month or so), the sound keeps going out. It went out for about a week before randomly coming back (nothing I did), and now its been gone for about 2-3 weeks. The sound icon down by the clock shows a red x and says that no speakers are plugged in. I've tried a bunch of things to try and get my audio back on, but no luck. I'm not sure what I would need to provide here for anybody to help me, or what I SHOULDNT post for security reasons, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some important notes
*I have Windows 7
*I have two jacks for my speakers, one in the back where you would typically expect to find one, but also an additional one in the front panel. Neither one apparently works, leading me to believe its a driver issue.
*Gosh idk what else to put down! any help would be greatly appreciated, I used to think I was capable with computers but this seems to be beyond me

What seems to be wrong us that the UEFI can't seem to detect the harddrives when determining boot order? That's my best guess. I really have no idea. If I load Bootable media, such as my installation drive, it detects it just fine and all my components are fine and I'm able to format and install as I please.
However, I'm unable to access the UEFI configuration, as the pc just stops.
Twice in the past few days it's been able to work itself out and boot as normal, so I know it's not a harddrive issue, but it's extremely rare.
I formatted and installed a fresh windows on a secondary drive to see if that would help to both avail.
I have a video showing what happens, but I can't upload it

I have just recently noticed how slow the install is because I got a new copy of Windows 7 for my 13inch MacBook Pro(2.66 Core2, 4GB RAM) and it seems to run games faster and be more stable. Could it just be a early version of 7 that is causing the problem? or is it hardware?

I have a 2 year old laptop and two weeks ago it stopped charging. So I took it to a repair shop that fixed it and then this week it stops charging. My wife and I noticed a funny smell the past few days. I am short on cash so we i opened my laptop up and took my motherboard out. It is dark brown all around the dc jack and there are melted parts that dripped down.
Can anyone tell me what should be my next step? Can I fix this? Or is it not possible?

Hi there I am having such a hard time with this laptop concerning gaming which is one of the main purposes I bought it for, especially considering the fact it was specifically advertised as a gaming laptop.  The 4K resolution has some serious scaling problems, reducing multiple programs to tiny boxes and things like that. Also apparently the rest of the hardware like the Nvidia Geforce GTX 860M graphics card and the CPU cant even keep up with this resolution which is why while running games at 4K, everything is incredibly slow and the FPS drops significantly. Its just silly. At most all my games I have to run at 1080p for the hardware to kick in and even then sometimes I can't even play on high settings. Like for instance I recently bought Assassins Creed Black Flag, which supports 4K reoslution and of course when I started playing, everything was so slow and laggy even on the lowest possible graphics settings. Once I changed the resolution to 1080p it shrank it down to a tiny size and was STILL super laggy and had a low FPS on high settings. Although changing the graphics settings down to the minumum helped with FPS issues to a 'playable' level, the screen was miniscule and unplayable. I am getting soooo many issues with this 4K resolution thing and im very surprised Lenovo did not mention this and further more label this Laptop as a "Gaming Laptop", as it is seriously turning out not to be and after looking at many reviews into this, a lot... Answer:Is the Lenovo Y50 Gaming Laptop even a "Gaming Laptop"???

I just bought a new laptop, it's Toshiba L300. I loved it so much, but then I tried to run Sims 2 in it and it's so slow even though I already lowered all the settings, it's still slow. Now my questions is: Can I increase the specs of my laptop so I can play games in it especially Sims 2 and 4?

Answer:Is it possible to make my laptop a gaming laptop?

Laptops are very difficult to upgrade. If money was no object, you might be able to do something, but practically speaking you are stuck with what you have.

There are "gaming" laptops, but they are quite expensive compared to a desktop. And they are prone to high temperatures and expensive to repair.

The majority of laptops are not suitable for gaming, especially if it's going to be DX10 and possibly Vista.

Question: Gaming Laptop Help

I am getting a laptop for college and was wondering what is the best I can get for the price range of $900-$1300. I've been looking, but am having a hard time determining what will run the games I want since they are compared based on desktop configurations. I really want to be able to play the games Elder Scrolls: Oblivian, F.E.A.R., WoW, and Half-Life 2.

Thx for any help

Answer:Gaming Laptop Help

unfortunately Laptops designed with gaming in mind are very expensive. Alienware makes some and so does ABS. But they charge an arm and a leg for them. What you have to look at is what the system requirements are for the games and then look for a laptop that meets or exceeds those requirements. A budget of $1300 is not a lot I am afraid.

I use my asus rog gl552 to play mostly ps3 games (sleeping dogs, bioshock, skyrim, etc). I enjoyably play these games on their lowest settings but find that the fan area of my laptop still becomes quite hot. Last week I asked this site if I would be able to play a more demanding game such as assassin's creed unity and the answer was yes (on medium settings). Why would I be recommended a more demanding game on higher settings when my laptop already gets pretty hot with lesser games on lower settings? Am I overreacting to the heat? Is there something I can do to cool my laptop while I game?

The ASUS ROG 552 laptop appears to come with Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

There were some articles recently about Windows 10 causing overheating in some laptops, so it's possible that yours is having that problem.

I am in Canada and would prefer someone to link me to a Canadian site with Canadian products. And also what brand is best for laptops?

their products are very reliable, and not always as expensive as you may think as long as you don't go overboard.

Can anyone tell me how good this GPU is for gaming laptop, what its expected performance in games. Can i run BF3 on high for example:

I'm struggling to find any information on the internet such as reviews and comparisons especially FPS?

Answer:Gaming Laptop

You should compare the laptop to the system requirements of any game you want to play. It's always a good idea to buy above the minimum, as high as possible, so that the laptop will not be obsolete when the next games come out.

But laptops in general are not meant for gaming. They are designed for portability and low energy use. Some exceptions exist, like Alienware and Origen PC.

Question: Gaming laptop?

Hey Team,
I'm a rookie when it comes to computers, so I need the advice of you wise internet folk

I'm toying with the notion of getting a new laptop, or perhaps going the direction of a desktop. Due to limited time and budget, I won't be building my own desktop.
I need your advice to help me decide between a laptop or a desktop (I've narrowed my options to two models that quite interest me:
[Gateway laptop or desktop.

I intend to use it for mild gaming (DOWII, SCII, COD:BO, D3 (if it ever comes out)) so I'm wondering which system will better handle my needs.
Yes, I understand the differences of portability between a laptop and a desktop. I only need to move my computer to different locations a half dozen times a year, but the covenience of a laptop is very nice for these situations!

Any and all input is appreciated!

Answer:Gaming laptop?

I don't like Gateway. I do love ASUS. Take a look at this: - ASUS K52 Series K52JC-XN1 NoteBook Intel Core i5 460M(2.53GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce 310M + Intel HD

Hello Everyone!

I've purchased a laptop today off tigerdirect for some gaming since my PC that I have now is ancient and can only run WoW on low settings, it's awful I know. I wasn't looking to go all out, but I did spend about $600 with tax/shipping.

I don't know much when it comes to GPU and their models I've come here to ask for your expertise. I'm looking to run WoW, Diablo 3 and some other games off of Steam.

Here's the rig.

Acer Aspire AS7750G
It has:
- 17,3" - 44 cm HD+ LED (1600 x 900)
- Intel Core i5 2450M (2,5 GHz, 3 MB L3)
- 4 GB DDR3 1066 MHz (with empty slot)
- 500 GB SATA 5400 rpm
- AMD Radeon HD 7670 1 GB Dedicated
- 6-cell Li-Ion, 49 W battery
Can someone tell me what to expect running Diablo 3, WoW and some of the newer games out?

Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Answer:need help with gaming laptop

Not the best to answer this (hence why I'm scanning beginner forum), but as no one has. Everything looks good except the graphics card which is integrated with the processor. I found this doesn't work as well for gaming as it causes issues when the processor is working hard and trying to do decent graphics.
That said mine is not as good (cheaper and a year old) but I still think get a discrete graphics card.
Quick scan of ebuyer came up with the below for £630. Not sure how the processor compares and the screens smaller. Its more for comparison as it was the first on the list.
Samsung SF310 LaptopIntel Core i5-480M 2.66GHz
13.3" HD LED
NVIDIA GeForce 310M
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Lastly without expert knowledge shopping for a discrete/integrated card is pretty hard as they are often not very clear in the description

Question: Gaming laptop

Hey Im entertaining the idea of purchasing a gaming/video editing rig laptop with ok specs, I know Lenovo pumped out the y700 with a sub 970 Graphics card, and Asus seems decent with it's G series, 551. Price point below $2,000. Can anyone chime in and offer some tips?

Answer:Gaming laptop

I've got a Lenovo Y50-70 (the 2.6 GHz to 3.6GHz variant), and it handles intense graphics and calculations (molecular dynamics) pretty well - of course not as good as a full-rigged desktop would. I'd recommend a Lenovo of an equal or higher specification since I've got one, but I can't speak for Asus.

Answer:Looking for a new gaming Laptop

Welcome to Tech-Forums, slikvic!!!

This laptop is right up your alley:
Asus - Laptop with Intel? Centrino? 2 Processor Technology - White/Black - G51VX-RX05

Has 4GB of RAM, a 15.6" screen, can't guarantee the overheating (but ASUS makes alot of gaming laptops, so I think they got the cooling in mind when making them), and has a great graphics chip (GTX 260M) that will play most games at medium to high settings.

This looks to be a great buy, but I'm not sure if you want to wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday, which I'm sure there will be tons of steals on laptops.

Hi! I am considering on buying a Gaming Laptop in the very near future. I am looking for a computer that I can use for school and also do some gaming on. I will provide some requirements that I'm looking for, then what I have it narrowed down to. Either help me choose, or if there are any alternatives that you know of that fall under the criteria, please list brand, model, etc...
Note: I am currently a college student. So Portability and Power are key here.
PRICE - $1,000 & UNDER
Display Size - between 13" and 15"
Resolution: 1920x1080 or 4K //(Doesn't matter)
CPU - 6th Gen i5 or i7 //(if possible)
GPU - NVIDIA GTX 960M w/ 2GB //(or higher in GBs or type = 970M, 980M, etc.)
RAM - 8 GB or higher
Storage - If HDD, Preferably 1TB at 7200 RPM | If SSD, 256 GB or higher
If Computer has both SSD and HDD, even better!
Here what I have it narrowed down to:
Dell Inspiron i7559-2512BLK or Asus ROG GL552VW-DH71
Help me choose or provide another computer that meets or exceeds these requirements.
Thank you in advance!

Answer:First Gaming Laptop: Help?

I prefer the ASUS choice you posted. But, make sure you check the ventilation of the laptop before purchasing it. Go to a store and examine their display unit if available. This is the second most important feature you should look at next to specs. Your ASUS choice seems to have good ventilation, but for a "gaming" laptop it seems a bit smaller.
The Lenovo Y50 is an example of a gaming laptop that has good ventilation (for your reference since it costs more than $1000).

Similar performance. Just a matter of chipset preference. Intel/nVidia or AMD/ATI

Although the intel build has a better audio chipset.

Warranty should be the same for both, so it boils down to brand preference and/or price.

Look at an Alienware M11x. This is the only Alienware worth buying. It may sadden you on the screen size, but a good GPU is one of the most important hardware in gaming.

Though, you would get more performance and spend less money on a Desktop build. Even if you are inexperienced, we can help.

Question: Gaming Laptop

I am Tara Covell.
I have think to buy a good gaming monitor under $900. I like to playing online games regularly. So, would you tell me best gaming monitor which enhancing my gaming experience.
I have seen some articles. I see the Dell 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop(6th Gen Intel Quad-Core i5-6300HQ Processor up to 3.2GHz, 8GB DDR3, 256GB SSD, Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M, Windows 10) under $900.
So, tell me "it is good enough or not".

Answer:Gaming Laptop

As long as you realize that for under $1,000, you're going to be buying  a compromise between gaming and price, it's a decent system.  It will absolutely NOT allow you to play high-hardware-demand games without reducing the video settings -- the 960M is a capable chip but it's low-end these days where gaming is concerned.
If you're looking for top-level gaming, double your budget for a notebook OR buy a desktop system.  $900 can buy or build a very capable gaming desktop with a very good 970 or 10xx GPU in it -- an order of magnitude better than any notebook available at that price point.
The rule of two still applies - a $900 notebook will give you the performance of a $450 desktop, or looked at the other way, you'll pay $1,800 or more for a notebook that gets you what a $900 desktop does.

What's up everyone,

I'm new to this forum and to gaming PCs so I just wanted to know a few things. I just ordered an Asus G75VX and the stats are as follows:

Screen Size...........................................17. 3 inches
Screen Resolution.................................1920x10 80
Max Screen Resolution..........................1920x1080 pixels
Processor......................................... .....2.4 GHz Core i7-3630QM
RAM............................................... ....... 8 GB DDR3
Hard Drive............................................. 1024 GB
Graphics Coprocessor...........................NV GTX670MX w/ 3GB GDDR5
Number of USB 3.0 Ports.......................4
Operating System..................................Windows 8

So I wanted to know what upgrades I could make to make this laptop run at its max. I also wanted to know what type of RAM to buy (Asus website says that this laptop is upgradeable to 32GB of SDRAM).

Let me know what you think.

Answer:New to Gaming Laptop

As it stands, you're lucky if you can find a laptop that can actually support upgraded main components, IE CPU and GPU. The way it sits gives it the max it can give.
8GB of RAM is plenty for gaming.
Only thing I would consider is ditching the slow HDD and grab an SSD.

Question: gaming laptop help

I recently got a macbook pro retina for a gift about a week or so ago and their are a lot of nice things about it but it just dosent have that WOW!!!! feature and I dont particularly like the OS. It has a very nice track pad and 2880x1800 resolution and everything but I think I will sell this to buy a gaming computer.

I need a laptop because I take it to school and I like sitting on the couch with my laptop so a desktop wont work. I really like the look of alienware m18x r2 but I know its overpriced and I hear about a lot of them failing but im not sure. I hear good things about sager laptops but I have watched reviews and the mic is placed in a weird spot and I think I noticed a few other things. It just dosent look badass by like the alienware laptops.

I would really appreciate anybodys input on this. Does anyone know of better place to sell my macbook pro instead of craigslist? I would like selling it online but paypal sucks so I cant use that.

Also no matter what laptop I get should I get like the cheapest HDD, cheapest RAM, Cheap GPU. Then just upgrade all those myself? or is it not even worth it?

Thanks guys

Answer:gaming laptop help

I like my Asus G73. They have the G75 out that a member here has, and he really likes it as well.

AS for upgrading yourself... RAM / HDD are easy to upgrade. Get the best CPU/GPU/screen you can. Screens can sometimes be upgraded, but not always. My G73 originally came with a 1600x900 LCD, but I swapped it out for a full 1920x1080 screen; was a $120 upgrade.

It doesn't have to be one of those extreme alienware laptops though because im not really a gamer... I'd just like it to be able to run some simple games if i wanted to play them. such as spore or other games... but i'd still like it to be fast and be able to run those games, not necessarily with perfect clarity or on the highest graphics levels.

do any of you know any decent laptops that would be good for gaming (i don't excatly mean doom 3, but more morrowind-ish) that fall inbetween 1,000$ and 1,500$?

if not, then what should i look for in the ram, the processor and the graphics system? thanks! btw, i like both AMD and Intel so i don't play favorites.

Answer:a gaming laptop for under 1,500$???

dell, gateway, hp, toshiba all offer decent laptops at that price. look for the video card to have 64mb video ram, preferably 128. a Pentium 4 processor or AMD XP with HT. 512 mb ram. preferably 1 gig. dell is the 5150. just look around.

I have undergone the task of selecting a new mid range gaming laptop as my previous one has died. I have narrowed my options down to 4, I just need some help selecting the best one as all the reviews for all of them seem positive but none stand out from the others.

I have been unable to find a review of this specific type of Omen 15, it is more angular than the normal Omen click here The HP Omen 15 - click here The Acer Aspire VX 15 - click here Finally, Dell Inspiron 15-7000 -click here was wondering if anyone with slightly more understanding of these machines could assist me, also if anyone know anything about the first Omen 15 machine as I can't find any review of that specific model. As I side note all of these laptops will contain the 1050 graphics card NOT the 1050 ti, I had to try and filter the reviews depending on which model they had.

Thank you very much in advance I really did not want to make the wrong choice.

Question: Laptop Gaming

I'm getting some lag on Portal when graphics are maxed. I'm thinking my GPU is the bottleneck here, but here are the specs:

8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM
Intel Core i7 740 QM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1 GB GDDR3
500 GB 7200 RPM HDD
1920x1080 OLED multi-touch LCD

Also, it gets pretty hot when I'm running like this. My laptop is barely thicker than a netbook which makes me wonder if a more powerful GPU will even fit in there.

Answer:Laptop Gaming

There's no point thinking about other GPU's unless the 1 you have is removable which I doubt it is. The GPU (and subsiquent memory) is mounted on the mainboard.

The main problem is that 'mobile' GPU's just don't have the same power as their desktop counterparts and as such, running high performance games/apps will require more than the mobile GPU can offer (depending on in-game settings).

Saying that, you have a very impressive laptop and i'm now highly jealous but i'd look at lowering some of the in-game/app GFX settings and see if the problem still arises.

Another thing to note (and it's just me having my 'standard' head on lol) is that you need to make sure that all fan/heatsync ports have plenty of space as this can cause overheating.

Question: Gaming Laptop

I'm trying to get a new computer in the next couple months. I currently have an old laptop and i definetly need something new. I currently use my laptop to play some games but really cant play much. (WoW, Starcraft on low settings)
I'm looking for a system that can play guild wars 2 and the upcoming simcity on high or good settings and just run overall very smooth.
So i was wondering if itd be possible to get a gaming laptop for this or should i just try to build my own desktop. I've never built a pc but have looked into it.
So any recommendations for laptops with regards to how it would run games and maybe there price range would be very helpful, or if i should truly just get a desktop
Any advice is appreciated.

Answer:Gaming Laptop

I think it would be easier for people to give you an idea what you could get if you provide a price range that you are aiming for.
You must have some idea how much you would like to spend.

Hey I'm looking to buy a new, mid range laptop for gaming. Mainly just LOL at the moment and I know both of these would handle it fine, but I'm wondering which would be the best performing laptop, so if anyone can help me out that'd be cool.

#1 -

Cpu- ? Processor: Intel Core i5 Gen 2 2467M Processor (1.60GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.30GHz,3MB L3 cache, 1333FSB) (duel core)
Ram- 10gb
Graphics card- Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce GT 640M 1024 MB Dedicated Graphics, supporting Microsoft Direct X 11

Cpu-The Lastest 3rd generation Intel® Core? i7-3612QM Processor 2.10 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.10 GHz (quad core)
Ram- 16gb
Graphcs card-# NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M -1GB Dedicated Video Ram

Basically #1 has the better gfx card, but it is only a duel core with a worse processor. Either one has more than enough ram. I'm wondering if laptop #2 with the better processor, aswell as being a quad core, will out perform #1 when it comes to gaming even though it has a better gfx card due to it being a duel core with the worse processor.

Any help and advice is appreciated, thanks.

Answer:Which laptop would be better for gaming?

Both of those graphics cards are low-end and pretty lame, so you won't be going much hardcore gaming.

Option 2 is better for you, though, IMO. I think LoL is more CPu dependent.

Hey guys! I am looking for a gaming laptop that would be handle games like BF3, TF2, L4D2, Etc. but I am having trouble finding out what would be the best computer for the lowest price. I need some suggestions! The cheaper the better and the appeal is important to me. I would like to be able to run the games listed above with like 60+ fps. Please leave some suggestions

Answer:Gaming laptop under $1,000

Option 1:

Has a GTX660M, 8GB of RAM, 3rd Gen i7, and a 1080P display. It comes with Windows 8 since the Windows 7 ones are gone. I wouldn't recommend this at this moment since last week there were 2 other models with a 500GB HDD @7200rpms, which is what you want, not 5400RPM. They are sold out though, maybe they will replenish for xmas since revenues will be released for Q4 soon, or maybe not. Also the 660M may struggle at 60fps on BF @ 1080p, it will play high at constant 40-50 fps (guessing from past experience but not completely sure)

Option 2:

Chose from the configuration you would like. This is MUCH more custimizable and they are great laptops, I would recommend this more.

K so hi everyone im pretty much new to these forums

I recently found myself some free time in my schedule and would like to start Warhammer probably

I am an old DAOC//CS 1.5 and 1.6 player//War3/WoW , pretty much those i played a lot.

Now i am in need for a laptop for school and i thought why not try and get one that could run warhammer online so i could use it for both, my old desktop isnt good nomore it lags on CS 1.6 a bit and stuff.

I was looking at alienwares etc, i love them but i cant afford a decent one from their website theyre way too expansive. I was looking on ebay and forums, either go for a used one or something i dont really mind i know there are some real good deals out there.

Alienware is only a preference, i dont really mind another brand,as long as it can run AT least warhammer online fully.

I am asking here if anyone would know of any for a decent price (it CAN be used)

Basically it has to be a good computer so yeah. I lost track with all those new technologies and i dont know what to look after etc thats why i am asking here.

Thanks a lot :_)

Answer:Laptop for Gaming??

Gaming laptops are NOT cheap. A good friend of mine owns a small independent PC shop where I do lots of service/tech work and he recently custom configured a gaming laptop for a customer: it had SLI nVidia 8800GT video, 4gb DDR2, 2 x 320gb hard drives in RAID, BluRay DVDRW, Vista Ultimate x64, and had a price tag of $3200. But since SLI video and a BluRay burner aren't really requirements, you can probably expect to spend about half that amount on a good gaming laptop. Figure a minimum of $1500 for a good gaming laptop; higher end laptop PCs for gaming start at about $2000.

Question: Best Gaming Laptop

I'm looking for some direction in the purchase of a new laptop and would welcome any suggestions to a specific Brand and model. I know there is a wealth of experiences out there and I would like to draw from it.

Here are the critieria:

1) Needs to be a laptop using a Windows OS(user needs a portable workstation, but it doesnt need to be light. previous laptop was a Dell Inspirion and weighed like a brick)

2) Needs to be outstanding playing games so a good processor, ram, graphic card configuration is key. ( Processor would probably be in the P4 range with minimum 256 MB ram and i figure using the Radeon 9000 mobile card is the minimum, but if people are seeing better results with the new nVidia I'd like to hear about it)

3) ideally made by a major electronics manufacturer, for customer service/reliabilty reasons. Alienware is about as small a company that I would go for, unless the response is overwhelmingly in favor of a small-mom-and-pop operation.

4)Price should be under $2500

5) Cant be a Dell. User had a really bad experiece (an atypical one in my view) and will not even consider buying another dell.

Thats it! Any Models that people really like, I'd love to hear about it.

Answer:Best Gaming Laptop

They are the absolute best at gaming PC's.
You MIGHT be able to get one under $2500 there, but I doubt it.

Question: Gaming laptop

Alright I'm not going to sugar coat it so here it goes. Currently I have a Asus g72gx (linky shown below) Asus - Laptop with Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor - Black - G72GX-RBBX05 Now here's my problem. Three days (yes three) after i bought this product the newer model came out(linky shown bellow)
Asus - Laptop with Intel® Core™ i5 Processor - Blue/Black - G60JX-RBBX05 So my question is it worth it to go exchange them. For one thing the one I have right now has a 260 Nvidia in it while the new one has a 360 which was built for mobile devices and can be said as a little bit better than the 260. The bad part is that its one inch less than the one I have now so the new model is 16 while the g72 is 17. As well as a new processor the new model totally outclasses this one. As well as my other question should I wait a few weeks after i return my laptop and see if best buy has anymore "surprises" under its sleeves? Any info is much appreciated. Like whether I would really notice the diff. of one inch. Or whether I would notice the difference in the processor. Main use of this laptop is gaming hint hint as it says in the title!

Answer:Gaming laptop

I'm not sure but judging from the GFX cards on both, don't think you would see major difference, if any particular difference at all. Only better stuff mainly in the both is the processor, but the Core 2 Duo is a great processor also and it won't quite go behind the other. Also the 1 with the Core 2 Duo has 6GB RAM, which kinda makes up for CPU speed difference I think, if it matters much.

Hi guys,

I was wondering, after hearing some good reviews, wether it is a good idea installing WIn 8.1 on a relative old (from 2009) gaming laptop ? Would it make such a great difference if upgrading from Win 7 ? I'm especially interested in possible improvements during gaming.

Thx in advance

Speaking from experience on the GT series, I think the current GT600 series would game much more better than a gtx200-gtx400 series.

I wasn't able to locate any direct information on removing your current gtx in your laptop.
So someone else on here or elsewhere would need to help you.

Hey there friendly folks

I'm looking for a nice gaming laptop. I'm going to start at a university in August, and I need a laptop because of the mobility.
My budget lies at around 1500 euro maximum. I'm unsure about this though, if I can get a lot of extra durability (in terms of how long the GPU will last for gaming)
for a bit more money, then I could raise my budget a bit. (keep in mind that 1500 euro thus doesn't mean I necessarily want to spend that much )

The GTX 1070 and 1080 will be released soon, and I'm wondering if this might result in a price drop, and if there will be mobile/laptop versions of these cards.
Because in that case I'd like to wait a bit instead of buying one now, to see if prices might drop.

What I'm looking for:*
15" or 17" screen 1920x1080 minimum
Nvidia GPU (GTX 960 or up preferably)
Intel i5 or i7 CPU (haswell or up preferably)
Atleast 1TB HDD
Preferably atleast 120GB SSD (not required)
Windows (10)
Atleast 8GB Ram
HDMI port
Atleast 3 USB ports

All other specs, I don't really care all that much about, but maybe I'm forgetting something.
It might seem like a long list, but it just comes down to 'a nice gaming laptop' hahaha

About the screen, I'm unsure what size to choose. A friend of mine has a 17" MSI, and when I look at it it doesn't look all that big, but I'm worried that it might be a hassle*
to take it to university every day and if the tables there will be big enough hahaha. So a 15" might be... Read more

Answer:Looking to buy gaming laptop

If you can, look into Eurocom to see what you can get for your budget. They have some good laptops and are fully upgradable usually.

Other than that, I've had 2 MSI's and loved 'em. Asus G75 and up series are good and get really good reviews so they're also an option.

IMO I wouldn't really go Alienware or Razer, because like you said they're fairly overpriced for what they are.

The MSI's (and Asus that I had) were all 17" and it was nice for a gaming laptop. You can always hook up a larger display, but for mobile gaming, 17" IMO is plenty fine. One thing you'll definitely want is A GOOD BACKPACK! I carried around 17" gaming laptops for 3 years at college...and I can't stress enough at getting a good / comfortable backpack. Spend the cash to get one with plenty of pockets/storage (you'll be carrying a power brick with you for sure), for laptop, books, accessories.

I don't know much about the new game specs, but your computer specs tell me you should at least be able to play them. I also know that a laptop is no match for a desktop with similar specs.

My old laptop finally went "kaput", now I'm looking for a gaming laptop. I've been looking into some Alien Ware computers, but they seem to have a lot of negative sides to them (from the reviews I've been reading that is).

I was looking to spend no more than $1300.
