help please ...Wired USB laser mouse not working

Question: help please ...Wired USB laser mouse not working

OS=windows 7 (64) and Laptop is HP dv6t 2000

G500 logitech wired usb mouse was working intermittently for 6+ months and now has stopped altogether. (not receiving power from usb port, no mouse capability, not showing in devices and printers). The lights on the side of the mouse do flicker very occasionally as if it is trying to work.
The mouse does work on another laptop and another usb wired optical mouse will not work on the hp laptop in question. Additionally, of significance (I think) is that a thumb drive in USB and a new wireless mouse works on the laptop. Touch pad works.
Tried to date:
?Uninstalled set point drivers for mouse and installed latest version
?Ran System restore for a time period 30 days prior and mouse started working intermittently again but after a few days it failed
?Deleted hub routes under USB controller in device manager and restarted the laptop (per suggestion on a google search)
?Looked at device manager and noted no errors on any device
?Clicked on update drivers on all devices shown in device manager under headings of: ?Mice and other pointing devices?, ?USB controllers?, and ?Human Interface Devices? and all show latest drivers and working properly
?Shut down and unplugged laptop and removed battery (again google suggestion)

I am hopefully that the brains on this forum might have a suggestion to fix. The google search shows that there are a number of folks reporting this issue but I do not see many suggestions and none seem to work for me. Although I have purchased a wireless mouse that is working now, it is a concern that soon it will experience some similar conflict issue. Thanks in advance for the help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We just received a shipment of Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 12 tablets.  One the first 10 that we have imaged with Windows 7 Enterprise the BT Mouse will not connect.  I have downloaded the latest BT driver and installed it.  The mouse connects, but it's grayed out and it will not work.   Anyone else have this issue?  8 of the 10 started working after the BT driver reinstall, the last 2 will not work no matter what I do.

I'm back using a USB mouse since my Lenovo Win 8.1 mouse stopped left clicking.  New batteries and the following: I have tried a second Lenovo Bluetooth mouse new out of the box with similar results. And I have done the delete device and add device, uninstall software, reinstall all to no effect. Am I doomed to having a cable on my desktop or a dongle occupying a USB port? The problem just seemed to happen in the middle of using the mouse.  I also did a Win Reset without success.

Answer:ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse buttons stop working

Hello,

Did you delete the Bluetooth mouse or the Bluetooth drivers from the Device Manager?

Although I don't have a W540, I do have a W530 running Windows 8.1 Pro and had a similar problem pairing with a Lenovo Bluetooth mouse.  The solution, for me, was to to remove all of the drivers for the Bluetooth stack itself, reboot, and let Windows redetect it.  Everything's been working fine since then.

Recently I installed a Microsoft wireless mouse and it is working. But the wired mouse is now sporadic and at times freezes. I have unplugged the wireless mouse and rebooted several times. Even did a system restore.
Also an Excel spreadsheet stopped working with the wired mouse just freezing the screen completely. Even after rebooting, the Excel will open and eventually I will get a cross hair image. I have tried to update the driver on the wired mouse but it says I already have the most uptodate one. I am running Windows 10 64 bit. I scanned with Malware antimalware and it eliminated over 300 items. I am not sure what is going on.
I hope I don't have a virus. I have Norton 360 with my Comcast subscription but now I cannot even see it in my taskbar. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but nothing happens in Control Panel when I try to uninstall.
I have a Dell XPS desktop. As I write the wired mouse is not functioning. If I unplug the mouse and put it back in the mouse port it works for a minute or so and then just dies. I don't even see the red light at the bottom of the mouse sometimes. I just unplugged the wired mouse and now it is working. So it is very odd behavior. I imagine by the time I post this the wired mouse will freeze again as has been the case. In the interim while I wait for a reply, I'll contact Comcast and see if they can help me with the Norton virus software issue.

Hello, Everyone. I'm hopeful someone can help me with an issue I'm having. Many thanks in advance for any and all responses. The basics of my problem are this:1. My usb wired mouse is not working properly as it routinely will suddenly stop working. The laser light will turn off, and the cursor will become unresponsive. However, a quick unplug/re-plug out of and back into its usb port (or any of the three other ports on my desktop) will immediately fix the unresponsive/undetected mouse...until it very soon happens again. Two important side notes: 1.) The mouse itself doesn't appear to be the problem as it works just fine on other machines, and 2.) I, just this evening, installed a linux os alongside XP on my hard drive, and guess what? The mouse worked perfectly fine for over an hour without a hitch! The fact that it works fine on Linux tells me there's probably some sort of issue involving XP or other software, but I really can't be sure. Again, thanks for any and all help!

I have an Aten 2-Port USB KVM switch. Up until 2 days ago all working well and then it gave up the ghost. I have just replaced it with an identical switch but now the mouse I have won't work. I have tried another mouse which works fine but the mouse I want to use just scrolls screens or goes left to right. The driver is up to date but it just won't allow me to use the mouse. It's as if it is stuck in scroll mode and just moves pages up and down rather than the pointer.

I really got used to this optic USB wired mouse. It's an old one but the way how my hand got used to it is the most important for me. So I got this new Windows 7 desktop. It recognized the mouse without a need for any drivers and the mouse works without a hitch, but when I reboot that desktop the mouse doesn't work. To fix it I have to unplug it from the USB port and plug it back in. This seems to happen every time I reboot. Is there any way to fix this?PS. I do not have a driver for it. The mouse has the IBM logo on it and that's as much as I can tell about it.

Hi there,

So on my computer yesterday, my Microsoft Wired Optical Mouse 200 was working. Now, it's not.

I didn't install anything onto my PC, nothing. Just nothing. The only thing that happened was that I'm installing Windows 8.1 onto my desktop (the error is on my laptop, Win. 7) as I type this, but I absolutely don't think that would affect anything.

The scroll wheel and the two buttons (click and right click) still work, but moving the mouse does nothing. I tried rolling up a small thing of tape really tightly and lightly touching the inside laser with it, and the cursor moves, but only lasts for less than 10 seconds.

If it helps, it is a Microsoft Optical Mouse 200 (model 1405), and has always worked.

I never had a problem before but one of my usb ports stopped working. I just get a message saying that i exceeded the power level. When i tried it on other ports that particular mouse doesn't work in any of them, however my other mouse which is wireless works.

Any ideas
Thanks

Answer:Usb port for wired mouse stopped working, says exceeded power level

Probably a short in the mouse circuit board or cable and is drawing excessive power from the USB port. May be time for a new mouse.

what does a laser mouse do that a normal mouse cannot or an optical mouse cannot. I thought it might be a point at the screen laser curser but this seems to be wrong, I have looked on the web but none seem to explain the difference. any one explain in simple terms please.

A simplified explanation is that they read the surface more often and are therefore more accurate for precise movement. Usefull in graphics applications and games.

I'm thinking of buying a new mouse as my old Microsoft explorer 2.0 has started to perform poorly. I had a look at some Logitech mice today and I came accross this one:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/GB/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=10917

Now I'm not specialized in this and so would like some advice. I like the design and the laser capability of the one I linked above but didn't really have time to examine others.
I'm not necessarily looking for a game mouse with thousands of buttons on it but a good response time one to work on my wood surfaced desk.
Also, it MUST to be wireless and would prefer laser as it's more precise.

Any advise please?

Answer:New Laser Mouse (advise)

It looks nice, only thing a lot of people look for in cordless mice is the batteries - the fact that they take AA batteries means they'll need replacing more often whereas if you got, say an MX1000, it has a charging cradle so doesn't require you to replace the batteries.

Just a thought....

Question: Laser Mouse niggle

Hi guys,A few months ago, I ended up with a PC-Line (PCL-FL1) Laser Mouse from PC-World.It has been a great item so far,,,, but yesterday it started to 'play up' (I think that's the technical term !).It seems that the curser is now a bit,,, well sort of 'wobbly'. It sort of flickers/jumps about a bit around where it should be. It isn't constant, but every 2 or 3 times I move it.It's a USB item & I have tried it in several sockets, but it's the same.I don't have access to another unit to try it on.Any ideas out there please ?Am about to call PC-W, but I didn't keep the receipt for this,,,, but if there is a known problem with this model, it would be nice to tell them.thanks for reading this,,,,,

Try Uninstalling it from Device Manager. But first before you do the above, connect your old mouse to use to reboot so that it as two mice's reboot and it should reinstall the mouse. The one to uninstall is a HID-compliant mouse

Firstly, I hope this is the correct Forum for this post.

I have a New HP650 Laptop with Win 7 64bit Home Premium installed.

I purchased a Bluetooth Laser Mouse BT which I installed from the disc provided.
Initialy the Mouse worked fine, untill, win 7 went into standby mode. When I went back into Windows, the Mouse would no longer work. Nothing I attempted would recover it. Switch Off, Switch On, Press ID Button to reconnect, nothing.
I Un Installed the Program and Drivers.
I then Re Installed and it worked fine, untill, and you know the rest of the story.

This problem seems to associated with win 7 going into Standby Mode and Recovery.

Does anyone have a clue about this Nasty.

Regards
Owen Carlton

Answer:Bluetooth Laser Mouse BT

Does the BT transceiver plug into a USB port? Check that the two options shown below are Disabled. The first is accessed from Device Manager under the USB Hub Properties. The second is accessed through the Power Options in the Control Panel then clicking on Change Plan Settings (for plan you use) > Change advanced power settings. There seems to be a common problem with USB ports after the PC goes into hibernation.

Its probably "MTI"(the letter I not the number 1) not "MT1" Check http://www.acrox.com.tw/driverdownload.asp for drivers.

If the MTI driver doesn't work, try a few of the others as mouse drivers are usually fairly standardized.

I have Windows XP with service pack 2 and never ever had this problem with any other mouse before. The only way that I see to fix the problem is to shut down my browser and open back up again(I use Internet Explorer 6.0.) Is there an easy way to fix this problem????

Answer:Laser Mouse Problem

There are many and varied reasons for this error in IE, it has been around since Windows 95 and in all versions since, but I don't think your Logitech mouse is one of the reasons at all.

One common reason involves the Google Toolbar, if you have it installed then uninstall and reinstall it again.

Also clear out your Temporary Internet files.

Question: Labtec laser mouse

Hi,My 1 and a half month old mouse is great except that the 4 way scroll has stopped working. I noticed this some time ago but just thought it was the programme i was using. The software can't have corrupt as the 2 side buttons work fine. Also, while in a thread, could anyone please tell me what beta actually is?Thanks

Answer:Labtec laser mouse

Beta - When software is being released, the first release to the public is usually called an alpha release (alpha being the first letter in the greek alphabet); a second, more stable release, is called a beta (the second letter in the greek alphabet) and this is usually the last one before a final release.Alpha + beta = alphabetThere are many other steps but that's just a quickie answer...Sorry I can't help with the mouse but maybe a reinstall of the software will help.

I live in Japan, and recently got this mouse for about 40 bucks. My old Microsoft laser mouse (the 6000 model I think) was started to fall apart on me and stop working randomly, so I found the Elecom mouse and got it because it had a decent dpi (1600) and wasn't super expensive.

Now I'm starting to regret my purchase. I don't know why, but the mouse lags A LOT. When I first move it after idle it takes a second, which is ok, but there are times when I am using it and it lags or freezes up completely for as much as 3 seconds or so. It also slows or skips sometimes when I am moving it around the screen, either taking a huge movement to make the pointer move a small distance, or making a tiny movement move the pointer straight past what I was trying to click. My old laser mouse never had this kind of problem, so I am wondering if anyone can advise me on anything?

I'm not sure if there is signal interference, either through the desk or from other wireless objects, or if the mousepad (a black non-reflective one, but I also tried a freebie plastic one with white and blue and a picture on it) is messing up the laser, or if this is a sign that the battery is already dying, or what. I just got the mouse about a week ago, so this is pretty annoying, especially when I am trying to play games.

I have a Perixx laser mouse and every so often I hear the windows sound that it has disconnected from the usb (link below).  My mouse become unresponsive for a short while until I hear the sound that it has reconnected and all works fine again. I would say it just does it randomly just now and then, but I cannot figure out whats wrong with it. I have tried some fixes that I thought would help, like changing it to a different usb port and I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. I also looked on their website and it tells you to just use the window driver, so there is no manufacture driver for it. The only other thing I could think of is that I use a hard mouse mat and sometimes it gets oily from using it by hand. Do you you think this could cause it? That maybe the laser has run over a oily surface or something? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Perixx-MX-2000-Programmable-Gaming-Laser/dp/B0083H4NG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374162179&sr=8-1&keywords=perixx+mouse

Hello,

I have a problem, so i'm running at lenova g550 laptop with a creative fatal1ty 1010 mouse. I just recently bought this laptop and moved my desktop mouse to my laptop however it does not work. It will click but the mouse does not move. I need it for work/gaming because my pc is fried. The mouse will work sometimes, but other times it won't(still click-able but will not move). I have added a mouse pad surface (which shouldn't matter since it can be used on any flat surface) Tried updating the drivers, uninstalling - reinstalling, different usb port, been through device manager settings, still nothing. Usually when my mouse is active the side will light up and the sensitivity button will glow. I know it's not the mouse, but I don't know exactly what could be wrong.

I currently have a Creative Optical 3000 mouse, it's about a year and a half old, nothing wrong with it except for the cord. It just gets in the way sometimes and it's starting to aggravate me so I think it's time to go with a wireless. I don't do any gaming, im just a net surfing, music burning kind of guy. The only two surfaces I use the mouse on is my desk and by bed, my optical performs well on both surfaces with no problem. Laser is the newest technology, but is it overkill for me or is it worth the extra money?

It would work fine for a while and then the cursor would just slow down and go really slow across the screen for a few mins, then it would work fine, then it wouldnt.....and on and on........ Finally it stopped working alltogether so i brought it to the shop and got the microsoft one to replace it.

I've had it for less than a month but right from the off it is doing the same as my logitech did..The cursor just randomly slows every so often and is very annoying, it just gets worse and worse till i have to revert back to my cable mouse, which i dont like at all....

So im wondering at this stage is there something wrong with my pc?
The logitech worked fine for nearly 2 years...

I have all updated microsft mouse software and drivers,
I have tried uninstall and reinstall several times
The microsoft mouse works via a bluetooth dongle that came with it which works fine when sending and receiving things with it
I dont think its the recharable battery in it because i tried putting a brand new battery in it when it goes funny like microsoft suggest bit it still doesnt work right!
Ive also installed on different profiles on my pc aswell to see if any difference..

The mouse has a light on it thats green and goes ... Read more

I'm trying to install a Trust MI-7570K laser mouse on my XP PC. I followed the very basic installation guide but couldn't get the PC to respond (the Device Manager does see the USB transmitter/receiver). I exchanged the mouse at the retailer but that one doesn't get any PC response either. Trust support simply referred me to the installation sheet. Has anyone got one of these mice to work with XP?

Answer:Trust MI-7570K laser mouse

Have you first pressed the button on the receiver then quickly press the one on the bottom of the mouse. It will not work without you do this

Hi Every time I place the mouse into its receiver a pop-up box appears in the bottom right hand corner of the screen saying 'Your MX 1000 Laser Mouse's Batteries are critical'. I do not understand why this is happening (it has been doing it for about 4 months) as it is a rechargeable item and the batteries in the mouse cannot be replaced as far as I know. The mouse has 3 green lights on. I have asked Logitech and they are talking about the Logitech SetPoint files being corrupt and to reinstall but in Clean Boot. This is far beyond my knowledge so does anyone know an easier way please. Thanks Di

Answer:Logitech MX1000 Laser Mouse

U need to go into ur windows control panel and selecting the install/uninstall programs. Find the Logitech setpoint application and then unintall it. THen reinstall using either the disk, or download it from the Logitech website. Im affraid its the only thing you can do, I very much doubt that its a hardware problem. If u need any more help or a more detailed walk through just ask.

I've been having this problem for months, somehow it would disappear, lately it's not disappearing. Today I was trying to figure out what could be the cause, my only culprit is my laser mouse.

This is what happens, I'll reboot the computer, everything boots fine as usual. I'll begin to use the computer, opening a program the mouse cursor will jump or it will take effort to do a simple double-click, and finally the worse is all my icons will grow to as large as they possible can, there is no solution but to reset, if I try to shrink the icons to their original size, I can't, because they will instantly grow to the largest size. I'm making a good guess that the laser is not working probably anymore, what do you think ?

I originally was thinking my ram, silly thought, then I thought maybe my monitor, and I came the conclusion my mouse, only thing left.

Answer:Laser Mouse - Oh not it's growing Icons

Several minutes, and sometimes less, after boot-up, the mouse becomes erratic, sometimes coming to a complete halt. Thinking it was either the interference of an outside signal or a build-up of static electricity, I have tried several things, including 1) rebooting, 2) disconnecting the power sources, 3) moving my external hard drive away from the mouse, 4) using different keypads to limit potential static build-up, 5) moving my entire system to a somewhat different location (fortunately, it's all on wheels) -- absolutely none of this works! Disconnecting the main power source and reconnecting it solves the problem sometimes, but only temporarily.

A couple of months ago, I purchased a new Logitech MX610 cordless, laser mouse. I was hoping to use this in conjunction with my system which has a Gigabyte K8N-SLI motherboard, 3200+ processor and 1 gig of DDR. My PCI express graphics card is only a Radeon X300 SE. Since installing the new mouse it has been very erratic with the cursor, so I have been trying to rectify this fault by following all the advice on Logitech website. After a couple of months I have tried everything possible, including putting the small USB connector onto a USB extension, so that it is away from the main computer system. Still, after it has warmed up for a minute or two, the mouse cursor jumps everywhere on the VDU. Has anyone else experienced this with this mouse, and been able to rectify it. I do like the build of this mouse, so I would like to be able to use it. Thanks for any help given.

Hi
I have a problem with my g7 mouse , I have it 2 months now with no problems but the other day my son dropped it pretty hard. Next day i couldn't double click to login to my pc so i used the keyboard and once logged in mouse was fine. Since then the problems have gotten worse , every so often ( anywhere from 5 to 50 minutes) the buttons will cease to function on the mouse but i can still move the cursor, if I press ctrl + alt + del and then close task manager the buttons work again for a while and then it happens again . When playing games ( 2-4 hours) there are no problems . Dont know if this is a hardware or software problem. i have reinstalled both mouse and drivers , changed usb ports , system restored to a point before problems but nothing seems to work. Any help or ideas would be great thanks.

I believe I'm having some sort of signal problem with my wireless mouse. I play an online game in which you can hold down the right mouse button to look around. Occasionally it will get locked like that, and I have to click the button for it to fix itself.

I surmise that for whatever reason, I click and hold down the button, but when I release it, it is not registering that I have done so, so it just acts as if I am still holding the mouse button down. Clicking it once gets the signal sent that I have released it.

My friend reports having the same problem with his wireless mouse, yet far less frequently.

I've always had little annoying problems like this with wireless mice, and I'm beginning to think they are inferior in overall design to something much less complicated, like a wired mouse. Does anyone know what my problem might be?

Answer:Problems With Wireless Laser Mouse

Well, the connection between a wireless mouse and its receiver occasionally drops, sometimes for a millisecond or so, sometimes for longer. In your case... It'd seem a bit odd for it to only do that kind of errors.. Anyways, if you want to get rid of this problem, start by testing with a decent wired mouse... The wire is always there, whereas the wireless link isn't.

I need help finding a mouse that is as small/light as the Radio Shack Gigaware; doesn't have to be wireless. We have very limited choices here in the islands, I've been all over cyberspace but of course, I can't try it out.

Hi

I am new to this forum and please forgive me if i didn't do something by the rules.
Here is my problem, i'll try to be as concise as possible.

Just yesterday i bought Wireless Keyboard/Mouse (laser) combo from Sweex (product code KB225US).

After two hrs of work the mouse pointer stopped responding. This happened after i rebooted my machine because of system freeze while playing with keyboard costumisation and copying files into the external HDD . I recall killing two or three processes, don't remember which one.
Receiver works ok on whichever USB port i put it into.
Mouse buttons work ok
Keyboard works ok
Pointer reacts (a little) only when exposed to direct light.
Batteries are new

Went back to the store this morning for replacement but it worked fine on their newer comps that were for sale. But same problem occurred with two older comps at work this evening.

My actions wereSwitched USB ports several times
Swithced off WiFi/ changed channel (to prevent interference)
Driver uninstall/reinstall several times (from CD/website)
Mouse uninstall/install (device manager)
Uninstall Wacom Intuos3 Ddriver

Nothing worked

I am willing to fight to the death for this mouse
Please help me. Should i go safe mode or registry or whatever? Just don't tell me to format, i have so many softwares installed. However, no other mouse software.

Specs:
WinXP Pro
Version 2002
SP2
AMD Athlon 64x2

Thanks in advance

Hoping this is a simple fix.....
the scrolling on my mouse is choppy, when I scroll an IE page it has like a delay? Its not a smooth scroll. I have been all over my manual and support for it and cannot find anything that will change this. The settings offer up slow-fast options but it only causes the page to flip faster or slower duh lol sorry I am at a loss as to how to describe this. Let me know if I can tell you anything that would be of help.

Answer:MFST wireless laser mouse 6000

No one familiar? I have been digging but cannot find a solution. This really seems to be a simple fix with-in the controls but there is not any option that corrects this. You scroll and the page moves with a delay and a line as if going page by page. I had first thought it was a setting within IE but it also does this in notebook and other software programs. Even sliding the sidebar vs. scroll is choppy. Any suggestion would be nice thank you.

New Years Greetings!
I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 (March 2007) with Vista.

I just installed the Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000...several times in fact!
First time it worked. Then after rebooting, it came up with a message with 3 choices:
- install driver (had already done that)
- don't ask again
- (I forget what this said)
So I said "don't ask again" and that's when the mouse went dead! Argh!
After uninstalling and installing from the disk TWICE, (pressing all the correct buttons on the transmitter and mouse and unconnecting the USB before this)
I finally downloaded the driver from online just in case it was the driver that came on the disc. It is Driver Version 6.20.173.0
Finally got it to work, HOURS LATER! but not on my mouse USB port which is the PS/2 Port that says IRQ 0x0000000C (12)

I had to move the USB connector to another port.
I spent [email protected]! trying to install and uninstall this and am coming to the conclusion that VISTA is the problem. Am I right?
I went to all the help features and did all the right things.
Device Manager says this new mouse is there. Says it is working properly.
But then nothing happened until I moved it to another port.
I would like to plug the USB into the normal mouse port. But it probably won't work. Why?
Am seriously considering a Mac for the first time since I started using a computer in 1980s! Thanks for any and all suggestions. Cheers!

I'm looking for a new mouse. The only thing I require is that it is a laser or optical mouse. However, I don't quite understand the difference between the two. I used to have an optical mouse long ago and I use a glass mousepad, but only the old Ball mouse I had worked on that mousepad and the optical mouse had tracking problems. I hear that a laser mouse is stronger and could work on that kind of surface, but I wanted to ask before buying.

On the same subject, I'm really not sure on what kind of mouse brand/type to get. I never really know what to look for and not every mouse has reviews. Of course, the cheaper, the better since I am on a bit of a budget, but I want a decent quality product.

I was wondering if a laser mouse is that much better to the point should I switch to a laser mouse with 800 resolution from my trackball with 300dpi would I notice it in gaming?

Personally I have never wormed up to the trackballs, but I can tell you that my Revolution MX is very comfortable and at the beginning was incredibly precise but after a while it started glitching unofrtunetly I bought it in the us and I can't get a guarantee over here:-(
All i can tell you is that when the mouse was in perfect shape it worked great on various surfaces. soemtimes I would watch movies from my bed which is about 3-4 meters from the computer and on the nonsmooth drapes (Not even straight) it would still work perfectly.

Hi,

I just bought a Microsoft laser mouse 6000 from Newegg (specs here). I'm trying to get the back and forward buttons working in Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty). I did some modifications to configuration files as suggested by Google search results. Unfortunately, that screwed it up so that the scroll wheel controls back and forward, and the real back and forward buttons don't work at all.

The imwheelrc config file (/etc/X11/imwheel/imwheelrc) says that the xf86config file needs to allow for enough mouse buttons. But locating xf86config in the terminal returns nothing.

What can I do??

I am considering purchasing the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 as the Logitech MX Revolution I have had replaced twice since I initially purchased it in Feb 2008 has developed the same fault again, i.e. The Freespin wheel has begun to wear out and as such intermittently the Freespin feature stops working, the last MX Revolution suffered the same fault and eventually the fault got worse. Very disappointed as otherwise I find the mouse to be goodAnyway that's beside the point:I was wondering if anyone uses the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000, and the Intellipoint V6.2 software and could tell me if it is possible to set the mouse up with the Intellipoint software to allow the two buttons where your thumb goes to go back and forward a page on IE7 & Firefox?

Answer:Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000

I think you will find the software is upto v6.3 well thats what im using at this time with a 5000 and yes the buttons can be configured. The two buttons on the left side (thumbside) have been set to lower button (magnifier) top button (Back button)

My mouse keeps losing connection with my laptop. At first, it was just occasionally. I would have to go to Control Panel and reinstall the mouse again. Then last night, I couldn't get it connected at all. I put in new batteries (my laptop/mouse is less than 2 weeks old) and that didn't help. My Y560 finds the device, there is a little popup that says the driver has been installed... but the mouse is useless. It doesn't work.So what now?Any ideas how to fix this? Secondly, I don't know if the Bluetooth itself is defective or if the mouse is crap. Is there a way to find out?

As title. This mouse is still available in the official HP store Uruguay in two versions (HP# LB423AA, HP# LB425AA) but I have not been able to find it anymore in Europe. Any advice on a place where this can still be purchased would be very appreciated!

Hi People, very simple question. Maybe I could get an answer to my question that I should had asked when I was buying. This wireless mouse uses two "AA" batteries or rechargeable batteries. Question: What about turning it off for the night or whenever I leave my computer? So that I don?t change them every two-three days. Thank you for your help with such a stupid question.

Answer:Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000

The mouse should go into a low power mode so it doesn't use that much battery power.

Came across a decent review of the Lachesis this evening. The author is very blunt about what he did not like about it, but gives credit where credit is due. If anyone has wondered if the Lachesis is actually worth the price tag, read the review and see.

Hi, I have used my Thinkpad bluetooth laser mouse with my T400 for a month. It worked quite well for few weeks, but suddenly, the mouse can not move at all, although it still can click and scroll fine. I tried to reinstall all the latest drivers for bluetooth and the mouse and changed new batteries but it is still same. And I found that the mouse works somehow on a semi-reflective glossy paper (i.e. cover page of magazine). I do not know if this is hardware problem.. What should I do with this mouse? Has anyone had same problem before? Please give me some advice. Thanks,Message Edited by sanglee on 01-14-2009 02:47 AM

Answer:ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse (41U5008)

you probably got dust clogging the laser lense or a fault with the optical sensor itself.

I have had no problems for the past several years with my Thinkpad BT laser mouse, but after recent updates it has been dropping and will not respond to Wizard discovery.  I found that using Fn+F5 power cycling the BT connection gets it back online.  Anyone know why this sudden issue and how to prevent it?BTW:  batteries are fresh

Answer:T510 BT laser mouse loses connectivity

Check in Services for two Bluetooth services. Try only having one running (or the other).

I have an Ikari Laser mouse by SteelSeries which I love, however in the past few months it has started to go intermittent. I'll plug it in, computer recognizes it and loads the drivers and it works fine, then all of a sudden I hear the computer making the 'unplugged' and 'plugged back in' sounds and the mouse stops working while this happens. Didn't know if the cord was damaged (doesn't have any obvious physical problems) I have made sure all drivers are up to date, I have changed the USB ports and tested it on different systems and OS. Problem is consistent in all situations.

I don't want to trash it if I don't have to as it is an expensive mouse and know I will not replace it for another. Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions? I'm willing to try anything so no idea is dumb (ie opening it up, so long as somebody knows what they are doing to instruct me)

thanks in advance!

How long have you had the mouse? Steelseries has a 1 year warranty, FAQ - SteelSeries - What does my warranty cover in North America?

If your mouse is older than a year you can try cleaning the inside of it. There are usually 4 screws under the mousepads.

Yesterday, I read a column by Craig Crossman about the new Logitech cordless mouse.

The second paragraph of the article states (in part): "...The cordless mouse uses the 2.4-gigahertz frequency unlike conventional wireless mice. This gives the V400 a more consistent 30-foot range with less interference..."

That confuses me because I thought 2.4 GHz things (e.g., telephones) were to be avoided because they interfere with wireless networks, most, (if not all) of which run on 2.4 GHz.

Since this mouse is meant to be used with notebooks, and most notebooks have wireless capabilities, how can the mouse's using the 2.4-gigahertz frequency be advantageous and not problematic?

Thank you.

Does anyone using a laser mouse experience their mouse pointer dancing around with small, rapid movements, when the mouse is stationary on most surfaces?I have just bought a Trust laptop laser mouse which does this, unless I place it on a textured surface.I was after a laser mouse in the hope that it would work on more surfaces then an optical one, but this one seems to work on less.Alternatively, anyone happy with their laptop wireless laser mouse (with >2 buttons, preferably programmable), I would appreciate a posting with your mouse's make and model number. Thanks in anticipation.

Just upgraded my OS to Windows 7 and so far so good....the only snag is my Microsoft Wireless Laser 8000 mouse will not work.

I have not got the USB bluetooth device it pairs it but this shouldnt be a problem as it did paired with my laptop (Sony VGN-NW11S) when I was using vista.

It now pairs up but doesnt then work.

I tried to download the latest driver software to solve the issue but this did not help.

Can anyone please help?

Many thanks in anticiaption

Ben
