Dualshock 3 lightweight modification

Question: Dualshock 3 lightweight modification

Recently one of the analogue sticks on my Dualshock 3 (PS3) controller developed the commen 'sticky stick' problem. As I am going to be replacing the stick soon I am wondering whether or not I should remove the rumble motors- seeing as I never have the rumble on- thus making the controller much lighter. My concern is that this may cause some damage, as removing the motors would leave some solder with no connection on the main board. I can't see anything wrong with doing this but thought it would be best to check and ask for someone else's opinion. Thank you in advance.

Preferred Solution: Dualshock 3 lightweight modification

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Dualshock 3 lightweight modification

Shouldn't be an issue that I could see.

Are you planning on leaving the wires on and just taping them off, or are you planning on removing the wires from the board as well?

Question: Dualshock 4 on PC

Hi,

I'm not great with computers. Please help.

I play a game on my pc, online, and I use a Dualshock 4 control pad to play it as the game is optimised / designed around one. I have tried this wired, bluetooth and wifi (using an official 1st party Dualshock 4 specific adaptor) and no joy. I've tried a different controller also, wired.

What happens is, I'll be playing, moving, running, jumping or performing any other action and all of a sudden my controller will 'lock up' meaning my character will keep running in the direction they were running, or the screen will continue to spin in the direction I was spinning it, if I was holding a trigger down, the game would continue to act as if the trigger were being held down etc.

for just a split second, then it work again. Sometimes this happens twice in quick succession.

It can happen once in a whole night, or not at all, or it can happen multiple times in the space of a few minutes.

I THINK its something to do with my computer restarting my usb connections. You know like how if you unplug something or plug something in to a usb slot your device manager will refresh all the usb connections? Its like that but I've no idea what is causing it. Maybe one of the devices connected via usb is causing them to play up but I'm wondering if there's a simple way for me to diagnose which one it might be?

I think (although it was some time ago and I'm not 100% sure) I've already gone through... Read more

Sure, it will work. It's a hardware thing, not software, so no drivers are needed.

Hello guys,
I've been playing fifa 17 demo with dualshock 4 on my PC desktop (WIN10). Everything works good, controller works, I am able to remap buttons in game. But when playing I realized that my right stick doesn't control 'skill moves'. Is this because :

it is only fifa 17 demo?, it'll work if I buy full game?
I use PS4 controller and it's functionality is limited? Should I use some software to remap buttons or simulate xbox controller ?

P.S. When going into game settings and customize controls I see list of buttons plus description (left stick is on the list, but right one is missing)
can anyone help please?
Thank you

Hi,

I'll try to get everything down so far and feel free to ask questions so I can fill in the blanks. I've got a decent PC, it was custom built by my brother who is a bit more techy than me.

Despite this, I only really play one game. Final Fantasy XIV: Online Heavensward.I've played this with a pad, sometimes connected via usb lead and sometimes connected via a small bluetooth USB adapter.

Recently however the pad has been doing this incredibly frustrating thing whereby I'll be playing normally and it'll just lock up for a few seconds. My guy continues running in the direction he was running, or my action bar remains open as if I was still holding down the R2 / L2 button but none of my other buttons will respond. The rest of the game continues along just fine, not graphical glitches, there's no lag, nothing is slowed or stopped. Just my controller that stops working / responding for just a second or two and then responds again.

Now I've tried what I thought was everything.

1. I changed the pad.
2. I replaced the bluetooth adapter with an official Sony DS4 wireless PC adapter.
3. I tried using it wired.
4. I tried using different USB ports.
5. I attempted to update the drivers. (was told I already have the best one available).
6. I completely removed (I think) all drivers and any software associated with any of the controllers.
7. I deleted and reinstalled the game (an hour or two process for a 3 year old + MMO)

None of this seems to h... Read more

Hey all

I was wondering what the best light-weight laptop is at the moment. I would prefer something under ú600, but if it does go over - no worries. I was looking at a Mac Book Air, but I'm really after a Windows machine without a DVD drive. I just want something light that I can easily use on a plane/train, maybe even hold it with one hand and work on it whilst walking around if I'm inclined to.

What would your recommendations be?

I run Windows 7 as my main OS. However, I still keep an installation of XP on a small 30 GB partition which I boot up every now and then to play an older game or run some old software.

I would like to isolate the XP installation from the internet, and only allow it access to computers on the local network. The Windows XP firewall is not versatile enough to do something like this, so I am wondering: is there a lightweight, free firewall that would allow such configuration (limit traffic only to local subnet) without coming bundled with additional bloatware which I don't need?

Thanks

Answer:Lightweight firewall for XP

Do you have a proper hardware firewall? Could be done pretty easily if so and you wouldn't need to install anything on the XP box.

Dear Forum,

Could you kindly recommend a lightweight and easy-to-use firewall?

1. The system is an older laptop from 2004
= Therefore, the firewall must be light on resources

2. Avast Free is the anti-virus software (of course)
= Therefore, the firewall can be standalone

3. The laptop's owner is NOT good with computers
= Therefore, the firewall must be easy-to-use

Thank you!

PS: I would like to choose PCTools Firewall Plus Pro. However, the final release of version 7 is not yet completed.

Hello I have a PC which is just 1/2 year old and I am using BitDefender Total Security 2014 as an Antivirus .. but I sometimes use my laptop which is I think 6 - 8 years old and it is very slow and sometimes it hangs. I am using AVG Antivirus 2013 for that laptop and I think that it is the cause of the additional burden for my laptop. So what are antivirus programs that are lightweight and very effective? Because I don't think that MSE is effective because I was using MSE and it was not getting any virus but when I switched to AVG, it got some viruses. ( Im not after free antivirus only ) I need a lightweight but very effective antivirus

Question: Lightweight laptop

So, I'm looking into replacing my netbook with a lightweight laptop - I like my netbook, but it's just not powerful enough to do some of the stuff I want to (like, despite having a 720p screen it can't play 720p video, and it actually struggles on YouTube 360p, too...). So, I'm going to sell my netbook to put towards getting said lightweight laptop.

What I need is help finding a good one at the right price - budget is ?500 (USD$650) maximum at the moment, but if it's really worth it, I could stretch that to ?600 (and that really is the maximum).
Mostly using it for school (and eventually uni), which I've found needs a little more power than a netbook for, and just general surfing and such.

I'm not especially interested in good specs, but to be more specific:
- Anything better than a low-spec Atom and GMA500 graphics (the worst imaginable). I've been looking at low-spec i3s and Pentium CULVs.
- I'm hoping for at least six hours battery life (most I've been looking at quote 8.5 hours)
- Size, 14" maximum. My netbook is 11.6", and I should say that's the minimum.
- Screen, I'm not too bothered about the screen quality, my netbook's is abysmal so I'm used to using a crap screen :P
- RAM, 2GB minimum, I can always upgrade it to more if I find I need to. My netbook has 2GB and that's never been a problem.
- HDD, really not bothered. My netbook has 250GB and I've barely used half of it (and only about 30GB of that is actually necessary, the rest is random video and such... Read more

Answer:Lightweight laptop

I'm not sure how prices are in the UK but here are a couple of models I would look at,

Higher Priced
Alienware M11x
Dell Vostro V13 - awesome small system but battery life may be less than what you are looking for
Asus UL30 series
Asus U30 series

Lower Priced
MSI Wind12 U230 - This model has a Athlon Neo x2 and HD 3200 igp so it should offer very good performance while maintaining a netbook form factor. If MSI's other netbooks are any indication it should have a great screen.

The Wind12 should be well within you budget but I'm not sure about the others. I haven't used the Wind12 however i have owned a 10" Wind with a Atom for a year and a half now and have been very happy wit it.

any recommendations for a lightweight browser ?
Been using mostly firefox till now but since the recent updates im not really happy with it anymore. Kinda gettin bloated, slow and resource hungry lately.
Not to mention annoying huge updates all the time. Not very usefull for people with a download cap.
Something with a simple UI , favorites, history, saving websites for offline reading, resuming download manager, low on memory and cpu usage, small download size. Available for Windows and Linux. And some privacy, i dont like all my data uploaded to some company (chrome). Preferably runs as standalone app without the need to install.
Thats all i need.
Is there anything like that or do i need to keep on dreaming.

In the planning docs for Lightweight Gateway, the following table is presented as reference:

Notice it only goes up to 10 CPUs & 24GB of RAM.
So...I want to know if it will go beyond that number if the DC can handle it.  Our DCs are much too beefy.  We have 32 cores and 256GB of RAM.
Our Busy Packets are around 8-9K (which is uncomfortably close to 10K).  While we haven't had an issue yet, we are concerned that it will fail if goes over 10K.
QUESTION:  Can the Lightweight Gateway handle more Packets per Second than 10K if the DC is beefy enough?  Or is it a software limit?  If it is a software limit, is it possible to apply a tweak to get additional performance
from the Lightweight Gateway?
Unfortunately, we have been told that Port Mirroring isn't an option for us and we are forced to use the Lightweight Gateway.  Thank you for your time.

Hi

I have been put in charge of buying a laptop in the next couple of days. Because of a lot of travelling, it has to be very lightweight. I was looking on the Toshiba website and the lightest weight seems to be the Portege series. The one that weighs 2.6 lbs has no cd or dvd drive. How does one install software?? Would it be better to go with a couple of pounds more to get a built in cd drive?

I would most appreciate any advice as to what laptop to buy. It does not have to be a Toshiba if there are better ones. This computer need not be used for gaming.

I also have to purchase a mobile printer. Any suggestions of what to look for or a specific model would be most appreciated.

Thanks!!

Currently I'm using VLC but it doesn't allowing scrolling through the timeline, only forward play.

Has anyone used a FLV player which they can recommend? All I've found on google so far seems far too heavy weight and unwieldy for my tastes.

Answer:Good Lightweight FLV player

Here's what I've been using. Simple & sweet.

Is ZoneAlarm Free too heavy for a Dell Inspiron 10 Netbook running XP Home? Will this program slow the computer down? Is there a better free, more lightweight, less system-intensive firewall for a netbook like this?

(I won't know until I uninstall Zone Alarm, yet This Netbook (a friends that I am fixing) is running really slow. I just finished a clean reinstall of the OS, and installed this firewall without first using the system - so I'm not sure if this computer is just naturally slow or if its the firewall is slowing it down.)

Answer:Lightweight Firewall for a Netbook

COMODO Firewall ONLY sits at about 3Mb of memory use during normal operation. From my experience ZA has a heavy gui that seems to take forever to navigate on slower systems.

If the system is running as slow as you suggest perhaps there is a system resource issue.

I have a little netbook running Windows 7 from an SSD and 2GB of RAM. I'd like to have read/write access to my Dropbox files, but I find that the Dropbox client service is a massive memory hog.

Is there either A) a lightweight Dropbox client, maybe from a 3rd party, or B) a way to run Dropbox so that the client doesn't always run, and only syncs files periodically ... say, once an hour or once a day?

Hi, I've been using Foxit for a couple of years (even paid for it once to support them), but since the upgrade to version 5.0, Foxit has been a lot slower and just feels very bloated.

Are there any good alternatives? My next to try is probably Sumatra, although it seems like a lot of people really hate it for some reason.

I just need a good reader, as I already use Sonic PDF Creator to print from Websites to PDF, and PDFill for filling out forms (got a better alternative for that, too?).

Thanks!

Hey guys,
I'm looking for a very lightweight browser that has minimal system impact while gaming + streaming.

I'm streaming a 720p/45fps stream and game performance is nice so long as I do not have my addon-heavy Firefox browser open. I suspect it's the annoying flash that has the severe system resource penalties.

I need those addons on that browser to be productive so I'll need either a Firefox lite mode which can be launched with the click of button (without hassle), or a completely different browser that supports Flash.

I only need that browser to watch the quality of my stream, and to chat with my viewers + browsing lulz pages during my downtime (1+5~tabs=).
Or can I bypass this in another way?
I currently have process priority manager where I have set flash and plugin container to 'low' priority. But this doesn't really help for that particular issue.

Flash is not generally slowing the system down from get-go, but after several minutes; while having my own stream feedback open and playing: the system slows down.
Soon as I close my browser, performance is back up.

edit, add:
Oh, and I'm looking for qualified experience opinions in general.

Answer:Lightweight webbrowser with flash

Perhaps try SlimBoat portable:

Best Web Browser for Mac, Linux and Windows. Fastest Cross-platform Internet Browser.

Configuration can be a little confusing!

Opera Portable 64bit vs Cyberfox 64bit vs SlimBoat Portable 32bit
Memory usage - all of the above with one tab open. Opera and SlimBoat both run from folders on desktop

Memory usage - Cyberfox (installed) one tab open, Opera (run from desktop) one tab open,
SlimBoat (run from folder on RAMdisk) five tabs open.

Start using flash and Memory usage roughly doubles.

Hello,
I had ATA 1.7 installed on a small virtualized environnement with
1 Lightweigth Gateway installed on my DC (Windows server 2012, 1CPU, 4Go RAM)
1 ATA Center
2 computers
Everything was fine but since I updated ATA to the 1.8 version my gateway doesn't start anymore. When I check the tasks manager, I can see the process "Microsoft ATA Gateway" appear and disappear.
Does anyone encounter the same problem ?

Hello everyone! I'm kinda new here :cool so take pity on me if this has been answered before (though I've used the search tool and the only relevant thread I could find was from 2009).

I have a sneaking suspicion that Norton is taking up a lot of resources on my brother's laptop. I've been using AVG for years, but lately I've been finding it a little annoying. I've been getting false positives A LOT lately, so when getting another anti-virus I don't think I want to try AVG. I've tried Avira but their pop-ups are so highly annoying I uninstalled it out of irritation.

TL;DR: What is, in your opinion, the best free lightweight antivirus? (Besides Avira)

Answer:Best free lightweight antivirus?

AVG and Malwarebytes. You can all so try Super AntiSpyware.

I have not had any false positives with either in over a year.

I'm trying to find a lite weight Linux distro for one of the computers in our office. Its has an AMD Athlon 2.1ghz with 480MB of RAM, and with XP Pro on it, its so sluggish.
We don't use it for much - all it has to do is access the web, load pdf & maybe tiff files, and be able to access our networked server, with an easy to use GUI desktop. Not asking much right .

I have used Ubuntu some, but still a Linux noob, so I was hoping someone had some good ideas for a distro.

Thanks.

Answer:Looking for lightweight Linux distro

Ubuntu would be ideal. It'll be absolutely fine on that hardware, and faster than XP Pro is currently too. The official minimum specs are here, though you may find your RAM will struggle to run a live CD for installation. I would recommend you install using the Ubuntu alternative CD instead.

The best thing to do is try to install from a live CD, and if that fails, install from the alternative CD instead. You'll experience some slow down due to the lower RAM, but it should handle simple stuff like office documents, email, web browsing etc without any issues at all.

I've also got a step by step Ubuntu installation guide in my signature below as well, so should answer anything your unsure about.

Yet another blocker for those who can't stand micromanaging rules etc., but are yearning for something that doesn't eat away at their computer resources, it's easy on CPU and memory footprints. As you may have guessed, pretty much a lot of it was taken from HTTP Switchboard and then reduced to a simple blocker like so many out there. Only one big button in the popup to turn it off or on for specific sites.

See Change log for latest changes.

An efficient blocker for Chromium-based browsers. Fast and lean.

The above screenshot was taken after running my reference benchmark plus a bit of random browsing. All blockers were active at the same time, thus they had to deal with exactly the same workload. Before the screenshot was taken, I left the browser idle for many minutes so as to let the browser's garbage collector kicks in.

Hi all. I'm thinking of coming back to Avast free after trying a few other AV programs. I just want a lightweight, free program that offers good protection. The full Avast package looks very bloated, but I've seen a few people recommend doing a custom install and installing the file shield only (none of the stuff under 'tools', no web shield, etc.)

Would just the file shield and a program like Malwarebytes be "good enough" protection? I'm usually pretty careful about where I go online and what I download.

Answer:Good lightweight install

Ciao (hello)

If you ask me, Avast is a decent product and it can do its job fairly well. I agree that it can be bloated a bit too much, therefore if you do not wish to use the additional features which can be installed, I recommend choosing the custom install option and then unchecking all objects except for the protection shields you wish to use and any additional languages you may want installed.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a good product and does a good job. If you use Avast, I recommend using Malwarebytes on-demand (the free version will be enough as it supports this) and then Avast for the real-time protection. I don't recommend using two security products for real-time scanning (unless the additional one is just scanning processes).

The quick and short answer is yes, however if you are a happy click user than no product will be able to completely protect you. Apply good browsing habbits and you'll be much safer online generally speaking.

Hi,

Just helping clean a friends laptop, that is sooooooooooo unbeleivably slow!

Anyway sorted it now, it's running Vista unfortunte for him,

I have 2 questions:

1st what's the best FREE firewall that takes up very little system resource?

I'm running Sygate but don't think there is a Vista version

Also it's an Acer laptop and EVERY 15 seconds the screen powers down if there is no activity how do I disable this it's nothing to do with UAC I think it's a laptop setting????

Thanks

Answer:Best Lightweight Vista Firewall???

Hi

Vista's own firewall is fine ( but if they are not a safe surfer ) then try Comodo or Vista Firewall Control ( 32bit ) < there is a 64bit version available if they are using that Vista version >

As for Screen, its a battery power saving routine, but if they are on mains or wish to keep the monitor live, then Control Panel > System & Maintanence > Power Options > click the Change Plan Settings under the chosen Plan of theirs, and set the Display to Never or a time of their choosing > Save Changes

Hello folks!

Im an illustration student who prefers working digitally. As such, im looking for a laptop i could bring with me to the uni and back, to use for drawing while in class.

What i want:

1) NOT A MAC. I dont care if they are faster, better, same, cheaper, whatever. I am not getting a mac, period. Sorry, mac lovers.

2) Lightweight. I will be bringing it with me every day for next ~3 years or so, so i want it to weigh less than a large brick Preferably around 1.5-2kg

3) Performance - the laptop will be used 99.9% for digital drawing. Im talking 2d Photoshop and Paint Tool Sai sketching, painting and editing. No games whatsoever are planned, and very mild internet browsing. However i would prefer my PS / PTS running properly and relatively smoothly, without delays or other "slow" things. There will be no 3d, just 2d art.
I already have a powerful desktop, so i do not need any "additional" functions - this laptop will be used only for drawing in class.
My price range is under ~?1200 or so.
There are 2 reasons im asking about it in this thread.
1) Im terrible when it comes to laptop hardware. I have no idea what's available / how much it costs / how it performs / etc.

2) I have no idea what specs i need for digital art. I mean, i always used my main "powerful gaming" pc for it, meaning i always had more than enough CPU / GPU / RAM / etc for it. However when it comes down to what specifically (and how much of it) i need for my lapto... Read more

Hi,

I have just finished running a full scan with Comodo Cleaning Essentials. And I had the following checked in Options:

Scan for Suspicious MBR modifications

Report all MBR modifications

The scan took over an hour to complete, and in the results it showed an MBR Modification ( MBR[at]Disk 0).

But, since I did not know whether this was a false positive, to be on the safer side I did not clean or remove but instead chose ignore.

So now, can someone offer any advice on what I should do regarding the MBR modification - is it unsafe? should i remove it?

Thanks.

Answer:MBR Modification: does it mean am I infected?

Lets get a second opinion. You may need to temporarily disable Comodo.  Please download aswMBR ( 4.5MB ) to your desktop.Double click the aswMBR.exe icon, and click Run.When asked if you'd like to "download the latest Avast! virus definitions", click Yes.Click the Scan button to start the scan.On completion of the scan, click the save log button, save it to your desktop, then copy and paste it in your next reply.

Hi everyone,
This is my first post! Anyway, my girlfriend recently purchased a Dell Dimension 2400 with a P4 2.8 GHz processor. She had planned to get the PC and install either a Radeon 9800 XT or the X800 Pro. Unfortunately, the mobo does not have an AGP port, and it only has a very limited number (3) of PCI slots.

I suggested that since she really needs a good graphics card, she could replace the mobo (it has the Intel 845GV chipset) with another mobo that had an AGP slot.

My problem is that I have heard rumors of how Dell power supplies can damage mobo's not provided by dell. I was wondering if any of you had ever heard of this. If so, will she need a new power supply too? And what mobo should she purchase?

Any input will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Answer:Dell PC modification

No, it would just not be enough for some mobos, especially P4 mobos. The Dell versions of P4 Mobos are modified to use little power, while the actual ones uses a ****-load, not to mention it's also power-hungry enough to require a 4pin connector to the mobo for extra stability.

HelloI bought used t61 about one week ago and the first thing i did was CPU upgrade from t7100 to t7500 my model is 7665-CTO and the queston is that Can i flash the middleton BIOS on it because this model is not listed in official thread? If you're referring to middleton's post with all his modded bios', he doesn't list any model numbers for any T61 series as they all use the same bios. The numbers after "T61/T61p are R61 models that also use that bios.

i recently got a helpful program that compiles all listings according to specifications, but the program is currently so slow that it is almost not worth it.

i am wondering how i can speed it up. if need be i can upload the program and its files (its small). i have admuncher (a great program) but it doesnt work for this. that is a problem, since kings of chaos runs numerous ads per page that greatly slow down the process.

is there any way i can either speed it up manually or prevent the popups from occurring?

Well all laptops have a HS of some sort and I was working on one the other day and it was almost as loud as my desktop . Laptops do get hot and frankly that is to be expected and from what I have read to date their CPU will run hotter than desktop so this probably what you are experiencing.

Here is a link for disassembly of laptops in case you want to remove, clean, refresh the thermal interface material and replace the HS. I would start here as I bet it hasn't been cleaned out ever.

Hi,

new member.

I just had f-secure inform me of a change in system 32 and ask me whether or not I trusted the process. I was unable to connect to the internet by denying it, so I did the only thing I knew to do...that is allow it. However it does seem a bit strange that system 32 has been modified as I have not downloaded / installed any updates, to my knowledge, in the past weeks.

please help.

Currently, when delldock is in the background, I can hold my mouse over it for a second to make it pop up. Is there a way to make this instantaneous, instead of a second?

I know programs like rocketdock have the option for instant popup, but they don't seem to have delldock's ability to use categories, which is extremely important to me.

Hi,

After update to MS ATA 1.8 the ATA Lightweight gateway on one of my domain controllers don't work. The second DC work normally.
MS ATA console show that Service status is Stopped.

I reinstall the ATA light gateway many times, delete ATA certificats on DC before it, download install package from ATA Center.

The ATA services (gateway and gateway updater) on DC is running normally

WinEvents have't errors.

But we have errors in gateway log file:

Hi,
Are there any specific Antivirus exclusions recommended for DCs running the lightweight gateway? I am aware of those needed for the ATA center, but can't find anything specific for gateways. There is a mention on an old thread in this forum, but that just
refers to the generic list of AV exclusions for various Microsoft products, of which ATA is not even mentioned!

Thanks
Richard

We have a virtual 2012 R2 domain controller on which we have installed the ATA Lightweight Gateway. We've given the DC 6 CPU and 16GB (dynamic) memory. The VM is running on a two host Hyper-V 2012 R2 cluster.
Nightly we are seeing the DC reboot, usually around the time DPM backups are in operation (one is an in-guest backup of system state, the other is a VM image backup). In the logs the following errors are present:

Looking for lightweight Antivirus/Internet Security for Windows XP. An associate in the office has been running Symantec Endpoint Protection for small business on his office computer for a while now and did not realize it has not been updated since January and cant be updated due to the software version being at its EOL cycle. He cannot upgrade to latest version hence the point of this thread. Need something lightweight since his PC is pretty crappy and despite the numerous times I've told him to upgrade he is one of those people that wont do so until its broken.

Answer:Looking for lightweight Antivirus/Internet Security for Win XP

Kaspersky is real lite and works on WinXP.

I recently installed Windows 10 onto my netbook, it has very poor specs and I'm wondering what anti virus I should use, it needs to be free and lightweight so I can still use my netbook for browsing with it open without it using up all of the system resources.

Thanks

Answer:Free Lightweight Anti Virus

If your system resources are indeed too low, consider using Toolwize TimeFreeze... Everything would be gone, in reboot, including any infection.
Considering an antivirus solution, I'd go with Avast... for me, definitely the lightest of all.

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a very lightweight media player with an itunes/songbird like interface, but with support for the majority of video codecs, like VLC has.

My problem with itunes: very slow, and very limited when it comes to video codecs
My problem with songbird: faster than itunes, but video codec support is even more limited than itunes
my problem with VLC: has support for virtually every codec you could ever need support for, but its media library leaves a lot to be desired.

I need a media player with a songbird like interface, with a media library, but with support for a wider range of video codecs and containers.

support for .srt .sub or .idx subtitles would be nice too

thanks in advance guys

I'm trying to edit a 12G 1080p mkv file and the program I'm using now, SolviegMM video splitter, crashes with a runtime error when I try to load it, so I am looking for another lightweight mkv editor. The thing I liked about solvieg is that it didn't re-encode the file so there was no quality loss, which is something I always struggle with because I want to produce something of 1080p quality.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I've installed ATA 1.8 and the lightweight gateway on a 2012 R2 domain controller.

On the domain controller, the ATA Insights service is running but the main ATA service is stuck in a starting loop.

Are there any logs to find out the reason? I've rebuilt the performance counter database as suggested in another thread, but to no avail. Nothing of use in the event logs.

Thanks!

We have 4 domain controllers which acts as an ATA lightweight gateway.
All 4 domain controllers have installed a certificate from our trust CA with the following CNs:
Common Name : Computername(FQDN)
Our ATA Center has a certificate
Common Name: ATA Center URL (ata.<domainFQDN>)
Both certificates have the following specs:
EKU:
Client authentication
Server authentication
Key Type: Exchange
Key Length: 2048
CSP: Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider (Encryption)
We could use both certificates for ata gateway<-->ata center connection but after the upgrade to ATA 1.8.1 it creates a self signed certificate and using that certificate instead of the one from our CA.
I have changed the thumbprint in the gateway json file, but after restarting the gateway services it changes back to the self signed thumbprint.
How can I use my CA certificate instead of the self signed certificate?
