Mouse- More responsive vs less responsive

Question: Mouse- More responsive vs less responsive

which one would be better for fps gaming (more specifically cs:s)

since they give you the option of changing the responsiveness, i'm guessing this doesn't matter? or does it?

i have a A4 tech mouse that's more very sensitive, while a logitech optical mouse (i think nubius has it, he recommended it to me when i asked for a mouse) that's less sensitive

which would be better (or it doesn't matter?)

Preferred Solution: Mouse- More responsive vs less responsive

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Mouse- More responsive vs less responsive

More sensitive.

Hey everyone.

So my PC began acting up and I have a feeling it started when I was looking for video editing software and came across a video editor called "softonicdownloader_for_Windows-live-movie-maker.exe" I'm sure it's a virus or something because problems with my PC began shortly after getting this.
I deleted and uninstalled what I could, went into safe mode and ran the latest updated version of malware bytes. It got 5 infected files that were deleted.

After doing so, I had little success. Here are still the issues with the PC

#1 Desktop and start menu programs won't respond. Can be clicked and the arrow with hourglass will show up, but with no response. Sometimes clicking on them will freeze and lock up. Sometimes they will, but it is only after several manual shut downs. If it does respond (such as clicking on internet explorer), upon closing out the program it will not respond again without a manual shut down.

#2 Boot up is a lot slower, will stay on "Loading your personal setting... Read more

I bought a MS Wireless Optical Mouse some time ago. The installation was not a problem, however I have a very strange problem in that for no apparent reason sometimes the mouse will have no or very delayed responsiveness to clicks and scrolls.

This is very annoying and when I use the spirit of the irritation built up to press the button harder this will most often on 3rd or 4th occasion get the mouse in action. After a while it the non responsiveness stops (10 minutes to one hour) and the mouse will work fine again. It is not normally a problem on start up.

I have changed batteries, reset the mouse "receiver", installed more RAM (now have 512 MB) and nothing has helped.

Can anyone out there please help me as this is very frustrating.

Finally, if I use the keyboard (when possible) there is no delay, only when using the mouse (so if I cannot scroll with the mouse there is no problem using the arrows up and done for example)...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help! Will be much appreciated.

Answer:On and off non responsive mouse

FWIW, I just had a similar issue with my Logitech cordless optical mouse. I finally took it apart and it has several really huge dust bunnies blocking the scrolling wheel. Cleaned it out, and all is well.

I have 2 computers, desktop & notebook, both by Packard Bell & running Vista Home Premium SP2.
The desktop came with a (Packard Bell) USB wireless keyboard & optical mouse. The keyboard's fine (if you ignore the proprietary clutter!), but using that mouse has been like swimming through treacle right from the start. Also, I have to left-click twice instead of once, often but not always. I haven't figured out any pattern to it, so get multiple instances of e.g. my browser opening (which, understandably, the computer doesn't like one little bit).
I tried a new combo (from Lidl), but it was no improvement. With more time now to use the desktop for the work it's intended for, the problem's moved to the top of the list!
Before any Helproom Angels suggest possible causes, I have followed up plenty of good advice online re sluggish mice, but to no avail (more detail later, if wanted). But I hadn't been thinking straight (prolonged troubleshooting seems to have that effect!), and somehow missed the simple first step of swapping things round.
Now I've tried that, it seems to me that it's eliminated the previous suspects (dirt, run-down/duff batteries, wrong settings etc), and some mice are just better than others?
With the laptop, I use a little cordless USB optical mouse, which has always been nice and responsive. When I tried the Packard Bell set there instead, I had just the same problems as when it's connected to the desktop.

hope someone can help , my mouse clicks has become so slow and not very responsive. about 6 months ago i would click on a page or go back or forward a page and i would be there in a second , but now i have to keep clicking the mouse to do its job.
ebay,, amazon etc for example - ill click to go back a page and nothing happens , click again and still nothing click again and it will go back two or three pages .also on outlook express - ill click the mouse to delete a message and nothing happens , click again and still nothing then click again and again and it will delete 4 or 5 messages in one go.
its absolutely infuriating !
i have only had my pc 18 months and running on windows XP.
i have googled a slow/ non responsive mouse and nearly all answers lead to a spyware infection.
i have full macafee security package ,spyware detector and windows one care safety scanner.when scanned nothing serious found . but i downloaded STOPZILLA , and its scan found 7 threats of which 4 were high risk. i clicked on remove/ quarantine but i would of had to pay $20 for a years membership.
problem is i dont want to pay $20 to remove these threats that may be causing my very slow responsive mouse and find out i still have the problem.
is there anyone who can help me on this matter and kindly advise me .

Answer:please help! mouse clicks not responsive

There are several free online scans that will remove what they find here are three.
All of these will take a long time to scan. Depending on how much you have on your hard drive a scan could take several hours.

Up until yesterday afternoon, all was working well with my system until quite suddenly my mouse and keyboard both stopped responding. I switched the USB ports they were plugged into and they started working again and I went on my way.

A little later I started getting a USB error, Unknown Device. So I unplugged all USB cables except for the mouse and keyboard ( hard to use the system without those guys) and the error went away. I was able to later last night to plug in my digital camera and download the pictures without recieving an error.

This morning the system was working just fine but after coming home from runing some erands, the mouse and keyboard wern't responding again. I've tried changing the ports the mouse/keyboard are plugged into without any success.

I haven't added any programs or made any changes to the system since my RAM upgrade back in early March.

Any ideas out there? I really can't work without my own system, and am using hubby's until I can get this fixed.

I recently purchased a new desktop with Vista on it and I attempted to install my wireless keyboard and mouse from my previous (XP) computer. After installation I was prompted that it has not been tested with Vista, but I stupidly chose to proceed anyway. I'm stuck using my old computer now.My wireless mouse is nowhere to be found and my wireless keyboard syncs with the wireless hub, but not my computer. My USB keyboard and mouse do not respond at all.I've tried:-Powering on and off my computer using the power button on the tower, since I can't use my mouse or keyboard to power down properly-Different batteries-Syncing the keyboard with the hub many times-Powering down PC and unplugging the wireless hub and USB keyboard and mouse and replugging in all but the wireless hub-Cussing at my computer as well as myself Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your (hopefully) quick response!

Here is the full story (feel free to skip if you don't think it's necessary):

So my dad and I found a $5 computer at a garage sale that had a 1TB HDD and a better processor than our current one in our family computer so we decided to get it and move our HDD to its motherboard and I install the 1TB HDD into my computer. So after we put the "new" computer together with pieces of our "old" one, I make a USB version of a windows 7 repair disk so that the OS will be able to update itself to the new hardware. But for whatever reason this doesn't work and the OS doesn't want to boot, it would keep freezing during the startup animation for the Windows Logo. Anyways we mess around with it for a bit and decide we might as well just put our old computer back together. So we do so and put all the parts in correctly etc. etc.

So this is where the problem starts. Now when we try to boot up the computer, we see the full "Starting Windows" animation however it remains up there for WAY longer than usual (at least a few minutes) eventually it goes away and we are greeted with a black screen with a movable mouse and nothing else. We tried waiting a few hours but that changes nothing. I then tried booting into safe mode but I still couldn't get in. I then went to the "Repair" section by pressing F8 before the computer booted and ran the first option (I forget what it was called but it was something along the lines of a "startup-analyzer" t... Answer:Black Screen after Windows Logo with responsive mouse

Welcome to the forums, Magnus.

It's probably a driver remnant left over from installing the drive in the old (new) computer. When you moved the drive to that computer and attempted to boot with it a flag probably got set somehow, and now you have to find a way to get it right before the machine will boot.

Try this tutorial and see if it helps:

Hello !

About two weeks ago, my girlfriend's laptop (Dell Inspiron 1721) running 7 x64 had the mouse poorly responding. Right after the boot, swiping on the touchpad barely moved it on the screen...just inch by inch...
The system loads fine, if I press the Windows key for example it reacts immediately. The same goes if I connect an usb mouse; there, I can move it fine. After a while (from 5 minutes to an hour !) the touchpad will get responsive again.
The problem occurs again when I wake up the system from sleep, although it sometimes doesn't.

So after searching for a program interfering with the mouse, I decided to format the all thing. It seemed to work fine as I was reinstalling everything. Then I decided to apply Windows 7 updates. And bam, at the next reboot, the problem again.
To me, it must be related to a Windows 7 update that messes everything. I really doubt it's a program as I barely reinstalled them, only classic stuffs that are not responsible as they were installed when things were fine (you know, Firefox, Comodo, Ashampoo, etc.). I'm trying to uninstall updates one by one but while uninstalling them does fix the issue, it's there again when I reboot.

What should I do ? I know, I could format again but, if it's probably what I'm going to do, I would like to know if it happened to someone before and if we can identify the issue...

Thanks !

I am using KVM extender on Windows 7 using USB ports and my keybaord/mouse are connected to this KVM extender.

Sometimes I USB hard disks on the PC directly. The issue I am facing now is that after the USB disk usage, when I select "safly remove hardware" for USB disks my keyboard/mouse which is connected to extender becomes un-responsive.

How can  I force the KVM extender as an internal drive? or any other solution?

Hello all,

I have newly loaded WIN 7 OS. Everything works but randomly, the wireless mouse & USB KB lockup & are non responsive. The only way to get them back is to do a hard power reset. I checked the Windows Event Viewer System Log & this error is showing up multiple times:

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device USB\VID_0A5C&PID_5800&MI_01\6&66de6c9&0&0001.

Did a Google search & the posts show this is referencing a media card driver. I tried disabling the media card reader but still having the issue. I also applied this from Microsoft:

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a Dell XPS 400 (DXP051, BIOS version A05, 05/30/06) Windows XP desktop PC with a UBS keyboard and UBS mouse. It has an Intel Pentium D CPU at 2.80 GHz, dual core, 64 bit Intel EM64T.
My problem is that both the mouse and keyboard are nonresponsive after boot-up when the ?Windows Welcome, click user to start? window comes up. (Both DO work perfectly in boot mode and in the diagnostic tests.) I?m not sure what the problem is - the computer has always worked fine until this problem. One clue is that after a Windows update on ~ 12/17/12 the shutdown got hung up after hours of attempting and so I turned off the power and shut it down that way.
I have tried many things (with no result), all while trying all mouse functions and keyboard functions such as arrow keys, num-arrow keys, Windows symbol key, various combinations of alt, ctrl, shift, delete, esc, and numlock keys, etc. Since I have no functioning mouse or keyboard at the Windows welcome page I have shutdown the computer with the power push button on the computer which seems to do a ?proper? shutdown. Things attempted (again all with no result):
1. Disabling the Integrated NIC (factory default setting is on/ enabled) under ?Integrated NIC? in SETUP.

I'd like the wireless version of this mouse, but my experience with wireless mice is that they are not as responsive and accurate as a wired mouse. Is that still true and is it true for this mouse? That's if anyone has used both versions.

I'll just go for the wired mouse to be on the safe side probably.

Hi Folks,

I've had Windows 10 for a while now, and i've had this problem the entire time. I am having trouble finding a trigger, so this may be a little vague and I apologise for that in advance.

My main purpose for my machine is Photoshop and Lightroom, as I am a photographer. Parts are as follows;
Motherboard: Gigabyte (Will come back with model number)
CPU: i7 4790k (Not overclocked)
RAM: 32gb of 1600Mhz (will come back with brand)
Video Card: Asus GTX960 Turbo 2gb
HDD: 1x Samsung 850 EVO 250gb SSD , Seagate Barracuda 2tb, 120gb SSD (will come back with brand) note: issues were apparent before 120gb HDD was installed.

Essentially, the issue is described as in the title. At seemingly random intervals, my computer will not respond to any inputs. The mouse still moves freely across the screen, however there is no reaction to anything else. Additionally, Photoshop will, seemingly at random, slow down to an absolute crawl (this is usually followed by the non-responsive state).

In checking, my drivers are all up to date and after other checks with programs like CCleaner, CHKDSK, Ram Check, and even Kaspersky, there are no issue with my machine.

To my great frustration, I don't know enough to know if there is anywhere that will give me a report on what the issue(s) may be, except to say that I had this set up (ex the 120gb SSD) running on Windows 7, and it was immaculate.

Answer:Computer non-responsive. No BSOD or visible error. Mouse still moves

DarethMortuus said:

I could be absolutely wrong but to me it looks like a hardware or RAM-related prolbem, rather than a Windows issue. It could also (highly improbable, but who knows) be the incompatibility of your PS version with Win 10.
Finally I would use Kaspersky Rescue Disk to check if a malware ddn't do any harm to your OS.

Do you use any USB hubs?

Hi! If anyone could help me with my problem I would be infinitely grateful.I'm usually pretty good at removing viruses by doing an internet search to target my problem but this one completely baffles me and I'm panicking a bit! I'm using Windows Vista. So about an hour ago my computer started slowing down as it expected when I have been running my computer for many hours, with a lot of windows and programs opened up. So I restarted my computer and tried to reopen Firefox. It redirected me to a screen that told me my Firefox had been updated and that's when my computer becomes non-responsive. The mouse/pointer moves freely but when I click anywhere on the screen, nothing happens. (For example, usually buttons become beveled or highlighted on mouseover but on my possibly-infected computer this does not occur). Typing anything on the keyboard does not generated a response either (I tried doing alt+tab to see if I could switch windows. I tried doing ctrl+alt+delete). Interestingly, I can still eject the CD-driver by pressing the button on the side of my computer...That works. Otherwise, all I can do is hold down the power button with my finger until the screen turns off.I have nothing popping up on the screen though. No windows or random programs to indicate that I have some sort of rogue program. What I have tried:Starting the computer in safe mode (without networking). Question: Non-responsive HDD

(I'm sending this from wife's laptop so TSG Sysinfo not much use!)
System: 'Advent' tower PC, Intel Core i7 3440 3.4Ghz Quad Core CPU; 12Gb RAM (DDR3); 2Tb HDD (Seagate)(SATA), using Windows 7.

Sequence of events:
1 Attempted to reboot PC following a minor update but PSU did not power up - it wasn't a particularly quite unit so silence pointed to a PSU fault. On removing the cover, the CPU cooling fan was not operating either, confirming no power.

2 The OEM PSU (CWT GPA450P) was not easily replaceable. Having had to replace PSUs in earlier PCs, I opted for a Corsair CX500M. At this point, I committed the cardinal sin of not practising what I used to preach before I retired - having replaced PSUs before, I did not think I needed to RTFM! Having removed the faulty PSU, I unpacked the replacement and fitted the black box in position before noticing that there were some significant differences between the OEM PSU's 'open' cable loom and the Corsair's sleeved loom. One of these difference was that instead of the 'old fashion' direct cable links to the SATA devices, there was a variety of alternative modular connectors. Had I read the Manual, of course, I would have seen that these plug into the PSU via black sockets on the face of the black CPU box but at this point, they were now hidden in the dark depths between the PSU and the back end of the DVD drive housing. Instead, I looked around for a connector that fitted a 4-pin ... Read more

Answer:Non-responsive HDD

Hello, unfortunately there is a very good chance that the HDD was damaged by the psu incident. The easy way to determine that would be to remove the hdd and then hold it while the pc is turned on. You should be able to hear and feel the platters spinning. After that, just to make sure, you can use a sata to usb adapter and plug it in to a different computer and see if it detects it.

First, turn off the caps lock key, unless it is broken too. That is considered rude.To get any meaningful help you need to give some information about the system, how old it is, when the problem started, other problems with it, what happened unusual right before it.So info on the computer including the make and model number and the power supply, including maker and wattage (it's on the side of the power supply inside the case).See below. We'll be waiting for your responses.

Windows GDI update for 2k3. My IIS 6.0 server just started getting flaky on me. Only one website - all ISAPI shutdown - only .asp extensions allowed. URLScan 2.5 installed.

No notice in the logs - just an unresponsive IIS 6.0 server. Doesn't appear crashed, and no insane processes - i.e. no hogs. However, it just goes down - and I have to restart IIS 6.0 to get it running again.

Nothing has changed- except for a patch from microsoft a few days ago that was a "GDI update". Anyone else seeing IIS 6.0 flakyness in the last 2 days?

I thought it might be a DOS or something - but wouldn't a syn attack shut down all my interfaces? Or just the interface in question? What kind of logs would I look for to see some kind of attack? I have Scan Alert which scans my server and reports 0 vulnerabilities. So - at least I have taken care of some of the obvious attacks.

anyone have thoughts for debugging or unravelling this issue?

Question: XP non responsive

Earlier today I installed Outpost Free Internet Security, it crashed my network connection so I uninstalled it, then had to perform system restore. Then I opened MS Outlook and PC turned itself off immediately and restarted. Message came up that Windows had recovered from a serious error.
Came on tonight no programs would open, i have put Xp disk in to try and fix and it seems okay(ish).
Other anomaly is that i keep getting message " this computer has undergone significant hardware changes since Xp installed and XP needs reactivation within 3 days. I have had to do this on average once a month including today.
I rang Microsoft to activate over the phone and spoke to a real, very helpful person who also found it strange that it keeps asking to reactivate.

Anyway I have attached the logs from event log, dont know where else to look for errors. Please if you can help i would appreciate it as I am pulling my hair out.

Answer:XP non responsive

i have put Xp disk in to try and fix and it seems okay(ish)

What is Okay(ish) really mean? does the computer work properly, and do all of your programs work? You do not have to include all of the logs. Just instances with a red X the yellow warnings don't mean that much, and the logs are too long to read through.
You can do some maintenance. Go to Start/Run and type chkdksk C: /R and press enter. Then press a Y for Yes and then restart the computer. Check Disk will run at next bootup to fix any file errors. You can also go to Start/Run and type SFC /scannow and press enter. Put the XP CD in and it will replace any missing files from the CD. If you don't have a current Anti-Virus Software, download the free Microsoft Security Essentials (do not have more then one AV software program on your computer at a time) and do a full scan. Also go to Start/Run and type dfrg.msc and press enter, highlight the C: drive and press Defrag Now.

Question: IE Not Responsive

I hope I am posting in the right place. My Windows 7 pc has been acting up for quite a while. I am not sure if it's an ISP issue or just my pc. When I am running IE or Firefox or Chrome, my websites become non-responsive. Or I will click on a link and nothing happens. It is very "jumpy" meaning pages seem to lock and then switch to new pages after some time has passed. I get the message box pop-up saying that IE is uisng so much RAM and it is usually over 250 MB. I am not sure if it's a hardware issue or internet issue. I did a speedtest and came back over 4 mbps. My issues seem to get worse by the evening. I don't have many issues when using software...just internet websites.

As in the heading of my PC keeps freezing and is Non-responsive. I have just formatted the HDD and reinstalled WinXP.

It takes forever to open some pages and I have 1gb of ram. My HDD is 120gb and the motherboard is 3.0ghz.

I have a LG DVD burner which is another problem.......and a Nvidia video card

Major software installed is

Win XP home edition with SP2
Bullguard Anti virus
Opera internet browser
PC on point registery fixer
Assorted Popcap games
Microsoft Office for XP
123 copy dvd

I only know the basics about PC's but I thought that my PC should be a lot faster than it is. I have downloaded all updated drivers for everything.

I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction to fix whatever problem my PC has.

When it becomes unresponsive and I manage to get the task manager CPU usage is only about 5%

Answer:Freezing and Non-Responsive PC

It might be that registry fixer you got there. I remember at one point i had one and after i ran it, my computer would let me logon, but after a few mins it would restart, and i couldnt get it to stop, until i reformated. So you might try re-format again and dont install or run that registry fixer. If that don't fix it try hitting it with a hammer :knock: !!

Best of Luck.

OK where do I start

Yesterday (sept [email protected] around 8pm) evening I was prompted to update Mozilla, to the newer 3.5.3. I did just that, after the update it required a restart, did that, I clicked on Mozilla icon to continue my browsing, Mozilla would not load. So now I go and click on the Norton icon to run a scan and see if everything is ok. Norton will not respond either, just the hour glass shows up and then disappears. I go and click on IE and see if that will run for me, it does, and it is slow real slow, I have not used IE for at least 2 years, I figured it was the version I am running.

I decide to restore the laptop back 2 days to get my old browsers versions back, no dice, that was all for last night.

Today I restore the laptop back to AUG 18 and it told me nothing had changed, I was left scratching my head, I installed at least 15 updates the past 3 days, so something should have changed. I tried Norton again, no dice it wont even allow me to get support. I decided after chatting with a fellow fisherman to un install mozilla, and download and run Malwarebytes Anti- Malware. It pulls 268 infected files out, 3 of which are trojan files I restart the laptop and rerun this again and get 42 more files.

I try Norton again, nothing, I re install Mozilla nothing, I try Opera, nothing. Next I download and install Super Anti Spyware save it on my desktop, and restart the laptop in safe mode and run a full scan with SAS it gets 49 more files one of which is a Read more

I have An ECS K7S5A Pro mother board with a keyboard that won't respond. This is one of the stangest issues I have have ever come across dealing with keyboards. When the computer boots it will boot into Windows XP and the keyboard will not respond but the mouse responds and device manager shows no keyboard listed and no conflicts. Then when you reboot the computer and try to access the bios the the key board still won't respond and the computer boots into Windows as before. No "no keyboard" errors are posted on boot up. I have tried all of the standard trouble shooting techniques (trying different keyboards switching cables etc...). Is the anybody that has come across a systoms like this? I am reluctant to condem this MB because I don't know for sure whats wrong Thanks Scott

Answer:Non responsive Key board

Is the keyboard standard PS/2 or the USB kind ( too lazy to check on the specs of the board).
But let's assume that the keyboard is the PS/2 kind. If you tried the usual "song and swap" and still no response, then it's the board chip that is messing up. I would give it a last shot, but looking on the mobo and trying to clear up the CMOS if you haven't tried it yet.

my power strip that i have my computer, printer, etc hooked up to is located under my desk, where your feet are. the other day i accidentally hit the plug for the power supply to the computer and the comp turned off, so i restarted it.

my printer doesn't work any more after the comp came back on, everything else was fine (the printer is a HP officejet 4110). and by doesn't work, i mean that there is nothing showing on the printer's screen, and the little green light that is normally green now flashes green for a few seconds and then starts flashing orange/red very very quickly. when you turn off the printer, the computer says "found new hardware". so i put the installation disc in my cd drive and tried to reinstall the software, and it says the software couldn't be installed because it can't find the right software. i then make sure it's searching my D drive (cd drive) where i put the printer's software installation cd into, and it still says it can't find it.

what should i do? i am running win xp service pack 2 BTW

Hello guys.

My first post on here.

I have a real problem with my laptop. It started playing up a few weeks ago, and would freeze after clicking to open a picture.. The egg timer would come up but it wouldnt open the picture.. After tapping the touchpad a few times, the message would appear "not responding" I then would have to clixk the red x and it would then bring up another box saying do you wish to end this not responding program..I click end now and it would then shut down internet explorer.. Doing this and starting again seemed to work, but it started to get more frequent.

Ive now got problems trying to sell things on ebay. The program freezes on the add picture page on every attempt.

Ive used my symntec antivirus and that says things are all ok.. Ive bought this registry cure thingy and that hasnt helped either.. Its now doing my head in.. Any ideas?

Ive tried scandisk, defrag.. but still to no avail, and the computer is defo slower than it used to be..

Im not the most intelligent pc lad.. so be gentle...

Okay, I've Googled this and tried a couple of websites looking for an answer, but so far no luck. At times, for no appartent cause, everything in my taskbar will suddenly become completely non-responsive. I can click away all I want on "Start", on quick launch items, on minimized programs, on icons in the system tray ... nothing, nada, zilch. When I go into the control panel and click on "Taskbar & Start Menu", the same ... no response. It just sits there in sullen indifference (that last bit is peotic licence). The only cure is a reboot.
Can anyone shed some light?

The reason Im posting is because My Laptop, which ive had for about a year now, Is an HP dv1000 model if I remember correctly( im in the library right now) and when I went to turn it on saturday afternoon all it did was turn on and stay on a black screen, it did not respond to me pressing any button at all and even my wireless usb mouse didnt get signal. I left it on untill the batter ran out to see if that worked and when I turned it back on it was still the same. I also tried putting a music CD in but that didnt affect it at all. Sorry if this is in the wrong section but Im not sure where the problem is coming from.

The keyboard on my ideapad U530 is not as responsive as I would like for it to be.  I have to hit the keys quite hard, which of course slows down my speed and affects the accuracy of my input.    Is there a way to change the amount of pressure that I need to use on the keyboard?

Answer:keyboard is not very responsive

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
There is no setting that I am aware of in Windows or the system BIOS to adjust the keyboard sensitivity on your model.  Is it certain keys or is the whole keyboard like this ?  Was it always like this or is the problem getting worse ?  If the keyboard was always like this even when the laptop was new, it could just be the way this keyboard responds to key presses.

Recently had problems with computer flashing multiple windows of emails or advertisements.  Thought the was computer infected so I just reformated the HD and reloaded XP Pro and SP2.  After what appeared to be a successful load, I went to load the two programs, which also appeared to load successfully.  When I went to load the new printer drivers, the computer became non responsive.   It appeared to lock up.  When I went to see if one of the new programs would boot up, I double clicked on the desk top, and mouse pointer/hour-glass would constantly flash at different points on the screen.  So I went to the Start menu and went to 'all programs'.  When I attempted to leave the 'all programs' to select the program I wanted, it would send me back to the dest top, and I couldn't get either of the programs to start.   I tried a different video card but the problem is the same.  I can't get any of the programs to respond.    Appreciate any advice.

I'm a tech at a huge dealership. Some, not all, of our pcs have an issue with IE running really slow and some times not responsive at all. The thing is, all other programs wether it be firefox or some kind of messanger are not affected at all. I originally thought maybe it was some kind of connection issue, but after having both AT&T and the communications company that originally setup our connection come out and verify there is nothing wrong, I'm stuck searching for answers. I know it's not the "temp" or "offline" files as we delete and refresh the pc's all the time.

I'm really at a dead end here and I'm praying some of you guys and girls can help a brother out!

If you have any ideas and need to contact me asap, please feel free to pm me for my cell phone.

Lets see what you have running, as you may have some background things running causing this problem.

Lets take a look at a log. go to , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show other issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

Last night I was showing a young child my FSX, and all the things that you could do with it. Somehow he started playing with the keyboard and the next time I opened up FSX the joystick movements were not responding in the aircraft. I checked it out by using FS 2004, and no problem, it worked fine, so the connection wasn't the problem. I think it must have been due to the kid playing on the keyboard which made the jostick unresponsive when using FSX. Can you help please.

this happens to me alot using my flight stick and xbox360 controller. when you start up fsx keep your flight stick unplug till you get passed the loading screen. pause your fsx plug in the flight stick and wait for a minute for the computer to load it in now go to your controller and see if it is active you might have to select it rather then the mouse for controlles. also add if you have fsuipc. cause it could be the problem as well always good idea to add it when asking for assistance. because it has speacail key and joystick assignments as well

I have a computer running XP SP2 + all updates to date, for a few months now when you go to press the start button the system can take upto 30-60 seconds to respond, once it does your right for another few minutes then stop's responding for another 30-60 seconds and keeps repeating this cycle. I have checked all running processors and there doesn't seem to be anything there that should be.

My initial thinking is that it's trying to check something which holds the system up regular???? Anyone else have this or seen this problem???

Thanks in advance!!

This normally takes a couple of days for it to start occurring but after that when I lock the system when I log back in explorer.exe is non responsive. Once it becomes unresponsive once though every time I lock the system and come back it is unresponsive again.

None of the apps running at the same time seem to be in common. I think the only app I have not eliminated yet was Chrome.

I ran memtest overnight and it didnt have any errors. I also ran MBR Check Super Anti Spyware and TDSSKiller and they came up clean.

I disabled all non ms apps using shellexec and action center is clear. I also verified and made sure all drivers are current.

The event viewer doesn't show anything of value. Just that it become unresponsive.

I am pretty much stumped at this point. This is a brand new system too.

Any advice would be great.

Answer:explorer.exe becomes non responsive

I'll tell you how I solved the exact same problem when it happened to me. I think IE is crapping out on everybody. But when I haad the problem, I got Mozilla Firefox. Copy and paste this URL into your browser when it is working so that you can download Firefox. It is a more stable and dependable browser to use. And it's free also. I hope this helps you as it did me.

I recently was given some extra RAM by a friend. I wasn't sure if it was the correct size for my PC, so I removed the RAM to check. It indeed was the wrong size, so I replaced the RAM and tossed the extra RAM given to me. I'm sure that the RAM stick was placed back into the computer the right way and is fastened down tightly. When I reconnected everything, the computer turned on fine. But it didn't seem to be recognizing the monitor. Nothing was coming up on the screen and instead of the power light being green, it was orange. So, I checked all my connections and tried again. It still wouldn't do anything. So, I checked all the internal connections as well. I hooked a different monitor up and got the same result. At the moment, my situation is the same. Both power lights on the tower and the monitor are orange instead of green. The computer won't respond to any key commands, nor will it even try to initiate opening Windows XP.Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong? Could I have damaged the RAM when removing it? Any help or ideas would be amazing. I have no idea where to start or what to do. I've got a lot of work saved on my computer that I really can't stand to lose. -Thanks

Hi i've encountered an issue which I can't solve by myself.

My PC has been incredibly stable up until today - booting suddenly takes forever, explorer takes ages while loading icons on my desktop, trying to use right mouse button or open folders results in complete hang of the system. If i wait long enough until all desktop icons are loaded, i can even open browser and some folders but eventually explorer or PC hangs anyway, not to mention that everything is working sluggish.

I can open the task manager and check resource usage, also AIDA actually load successfully and according to them - there is no increase in CPU or RAM loads.

I've tried running Eset online scanner and I've checked my system disk with Avast! - they didn't find anything. I've used hijackthis but found no suspicious entries. I've also used combofix but it found only some harmless .dlls none of which were unknown to me.

I am able to load Vista in safemode without non essential programs but the issue exists even there, despite slightly faster booting and icon loading times.

Unfortunately I cannot use system restore and even though I do have complete pc archive - so far I wasn't able to use it, since it's not available in safemode and during normal boot my PC usually hangs before I am able to get to control panel.

At this point I've exhausted all known options and solutions and would welcome any help or suggestions whatsoever. Could it be sudden hardware issue? If so - what could be respons... Read more

Hi, I cleared a trojan out of my system about 3 weeks back and for some reason I can't use the taskbar whenever I restart. I've downloaded TaskbarPlusRepair tool program and the only way I can actually use the taskbar is by using this program each time I restart, which is beginning to get quite tedious... Each time I use it, the program restarts the Windows Shell thing, does anyone know how to just have this start up along with everything else?

I think I pretty much know the answer to this question however I'm in a slight dilemma.

I have an HP laptop here with the trackpad not responding at all. I dug all of the viruses out of it and reinstalled the drivers several times, as well as a system restore from 10 days ago. But the trackpad still didn't work. I considered re-imaging it since it has a recovery partition with a factory-loaded default image, but instead I decided to pop in a Linux LiveCD.

Upon booting Ubuntu, the trackpad still didn't work.

I checked all Fn keys. Nothing helped activate it. There's also a dedicated on/off button by the trackpad. It of course is enabled.

I think it's pretty safe to say it's hardware related, but my tools are at work and this is bugging the **** out of me. Is there anything else you guys think I should try before I crack this thing open tomorrow?

Answer:Trackpad Not Responsive.

There is a cable that connects that trackpad to the MB, while you do have to take a lot of the laptop apart to get to this cable it isan't as hard to get to as the processor. I agree, it does sound hardware related (assuming you've hooked up an external mouse and it worked) and if the plug is fine, you may need to replace the track pad.

My Pavilion laptop has a button right above the trackpad that turns it off - stupid i know but just make sure that light is on if your laptop has that button.

Alright so after a bad download, my laptop got infected and I did the removal using Avast and Malwarebytes anti-malware. It's good now but here's the thing. You see my laptop is a good laptop for gaming and such, so I can handle games especially the ones I have been playing, but the thing is whenever I launch a game such as league of legends or Planetside 2 or anything, the whole client (game) goes "not responding" and then "responding" in less than a second and it keeps alternating for 5-10 seconds and I cant type or do anything, its like tabbing in and out really quickly and Idk waht to do because this never happened before. Im happy to provide any info that is required. My operating system is also Windows 10. The name of the laptop is Lenovo y-40

Got a Win XP SP3 Compaq desktop here, none of the USB ports are working. 4 are flagged with the yellow marker in Device manager. If I uninstall them then let Windows redetect it asks for the file 'seehcri.sys' which I cannot find anywhere.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Answer:usb ports non-responsive

You need to install the drivers for them.
To do this go on Compaq (hp's) website and go to the driver download section and enter the model of computer in and there should be a section on usb ports and there will the drivers that you need.

My pc has lately as expected gone very slow and not as responsive.
At the start-up especially. I have to wait a good 2mins before touching anything or things start to 'Not respond' and such.

I was wondering if you guys could recommend me ANYTHING that I could do to speed up my pc significantly.
Exclude, formatting my pc / buying new parts.

Thanks for your time.

Answer:Slow/Not responsive

First verify you're defragging your drive regularly. Vista is normally set to do this automatically so I doubt fragmentation has anything to do with it, but you should check to make sure.

Second, run antivirus. Sometimes a virus can slow a PC down. Again, I doubt this has anything to do with a slow PC, but it might.

Third, check your startup programs. If your PC is running slow at startup in particular, one real possibility is that you have a bloated number of programs and services starting up. Go through the list in msconfig and see if there's anything you can disable. Also use the Services console for the same thing.

Post PC specs. You might be low on resources.

This may be a double post, but I can't find my original posting.  My x230 is approximately 30 days past warranty (Windows 7 Pro).  Overnight it has become non-responsive. I have tried with and without battery, two different power supplies. I have tried, multiple times, holding the power button down to "discharge"?  No lights showing, no response to any buttons being pushed.  Within the last week I accepted Lenovo's prompting to update various files, including BIOS.  My recollection it has been re-booted at least once since the Lenovo system updates.  For what it is worth, I have always had the touchpad "turned off" via the software.  Any help, thoughts, or insight would be appreciated.

Answer:X230 non responsive

Make sure that you hold the power button down for a minute without the battery in! Otherwise its a motherboard issue and you might need to buy a new one

The lights are all on on the mobo, it just won't boot. I can't get any fans to turn on, no sounds at all.

What do you think my problem is???

Answer:Computer non responsive

Sounds like the power supply might be shot. Incidently flicking it on an off can cause surges which may cause more damage.

My computer is Non-Responive more then it is working.  If my memory is correct, I went into the Bios et. al. and set all to maximum performance years ago, as I am a firm believer of keeping the computer COOL!.  I am **bleep** retentive in using cans of compressed CO2 to blow out the computer.  In reading I find that if the Cooling fan is part of the problem that I should get a warning that the fan has failed to perform to spec's.  But my interpretations of this gives me the impression that this is tied to the Intel processor, and not looking at the AMD Radeon GPU 6770M.  As a side note I have also been uninstalling programs at the same time. At first I thought I had a failing CPU, and or a clogged Heat Sink.  In looking into the replacement of a CPU Fan, which I mentioned earlier I should have gotten a warning from the Bios that the fan was failing, I found it was the same cost to buy a new fan as it was to buy a Heat Sink with a new fan.  Once I realized what the Heat Sink looked like, I got to thinking the GPU may be the actual problem of the computer becoming unresponsive, which is why I started wondering if I should replace both the Heat Sink and the AMD GPU. Does anyone have any suggestions, advice other then to throw the computer away.  I would rather to spend some monies and at the same time upgrade the computer to higher spec's CPU and GPU and get another year or two out of the computer as this computer ... For the past week or so, I have had problems with a computer, and browsers and webpages becoming slow or giving error messages. Trying Microsoft Fix-It the whole system froze. Tried to do an XP repair with nil results, so did a full format. All seemed well until I tried to do updates,Avast Ok, connection to internet Ok, then on reboot, goes as far as the XP motif and then shutdown, with repeating events.
Trying now to boot with the original XP disk, so as to try a repair or reformat, and the computer will not boot from disk. Previously the computer use to ask 'Boot from disk-None' and went into start mode. Now no message.
I hope that I have explained okay. Any help would be appreciated, so as to get the computer working again..

Question: Responsive slow

I have a custom built desktop. It is Windows XP Professional SP3, Intel Pentium 4 3.20GHZ, 2GB DDR-400. My computer is pretty slow, it takes time to do stuff such as trying to choose a file to burn etc. I usually have to give it 1 minute or more so it can load. I have tried to do a full scan using DrWeb but after a minute of scanning it just randomly freezes, which i have to restart it. So i can't find out if there are other viruses on it. I've tried using sfc /scannow but it keeps saying to insert the XP disc which i did. Other people had told to copy the I386 folder to C: drive and change the registry to run from there but that didn't work. Can someone please help me, this may have a lot issues?

Now don't get me wrong here. I like Emsisoft and how it operates. But lately I've been playing my usual games from Steam and from some of my online games like Mortal Online and Elsword, when Emsisoft suddenly steps in saying they're giving off suspicious behaviour.
This has gotten my interest piqued as to why Emsisoft would react to my games like this, especially my Steam games. I recently got Planetside 2 and during play Emsisoft came up with 2-3 reactions.
Is this to be expected of Emsisoft? or would this be a cause for concern?
