windows activation (27-days left for activation)

Question: windows activation (27-days left for activation)

hi all

is SLP loader functions the same as windows activator?

i'm using Win Server 2003 Standard Edition as my OS. currently, it's already prompting and i have 27-days left for activation

this all happened when i initiate System Recovery using the same CD installer i used to setup the same computer almost 3-years ago. i did so as it hung-up and i can't managed even to go into Safe Mode, as well, the so called Last Known Good Configuration but still to no avail

i used the same CD Key i used initially before but it won't accept or recognized it where it states that if my CD Key was right and still not updating then i should telephone Microsoft

wow!

can i do that when i'm not in the continental USA much more these computer was registered not under my name since it's only a hand-me-down or surplus which is beneficial to me

so i'm looking for SLP loader or windows activator (if it function the same way) intended for Win Server 2003 Standard Edition as it may resolve my issue

hope it's okay to inquire and that if it's not advisable to reply post in here, i welcome it through PM

Preferred Solution: windows activation (27-days left for activation)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: windows activation (27-days left for activation)

If it's a valid key, you should have no problem calling MS to re-activate Windows.

It should give you an option to pick which country you're from on the activation window, and then a number to call.

Alright i just reinstalled windows. After I get it installed it says I need to activate and register it. I get it hooked up to the internet and before i even get a chance to enter in the serial number it says that it was entered in incorrectly. I try using the same one I used for installing it and it still says that. Is there any way to fix this without buying a new key?

Answer:30 days left for activation

call microsoft, its their new crappy authentication system, everytime you install you have to call

Just got a used (reconditioned) computer...XP Pro SP 2.

I'm not sure what to do with the notice I keep getting, which states I have so many days left for activation. And every time I restart the computer, less days are showing.

Answer:"...days left for activation"?

Take a look at this Microsoft article describing how to activate Windows XP. You will need to activate it using the Internet or by phone: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307890

Answer:3 Days Until automatic activation. Activate windows now.

Hi Matt -

Did you buy a copy of Win7 from your school? Is this a retail copy of Win7 or is it one which is activated by the school's IT department?

If it's a retail copy then with the Product Key you should have been given at purchase you can follow the steps in this link to Clean Install Windows 7. Be sure to boot the disk: How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD

If it's an organization's Enterprise copy, consult your School on how to activate it.

Ask back any questions you have as we will help you set it up so it runs perfectly.

I have a dell laptop with windows 7 Ultimate installed on it (Came preinstalled with laptop). Have been using since last 2 years.
2 days back I decided to upgrade to windows 10 (hey, free stuff ).
I selected Upgrade now option (Not iso/USB), it downloaded, did few things and started installing. While it was configuring (Big blue circle that comes) it failed at 5%. Mostly reason was C drive space was very less (8Gb free).
So it rolled back to windows 7. SO I decide to clear up some things, so uninstalled some stuff . got around 21GB in my C Drive now.
Restarted my machine and tried to install windows 10. But this time it somehow asked for Product Key (There is no SKIP option)
I went to system properties, to my surprise now it was showing 2 days till activation. I clicked on activate now and put my windows 7 ultimate key, but it did not accept.
Just did Genuine check on my windows , it said my copy of Windows is Genuine. But still it messed up with windows 7 license somehow. I am not getting call Support desk option anywhere, as some forums mention. Please help me.
Now I am stuck as I cannot upgrade. What are my options?

Answer:Windows 7 showing 2 days for activation while upgrading to windows10

Hello rohit404404 Welcome to the Seven Forums!

I think you may want to stop by SF's sister site for some information and help regarding the upgrade while I can point you to one guide there that could be a large help for you in getting this problem cleared up. Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First

The guide there may just be able to bail you out of this one while you could still try either to enter the product key found on the sticker attached usually on the bottom of a laptop unless too new where it is embedded into the firmware where you then will need a product key tool to recover and enter it in with. That's found in any guide but from an independent source. ShowKeyPlus

If you are able to get 7 to activate itself again automatically or do have to call into MS to explain what happened and get 7 activated with help you can then save a lot of time and effort following the steps in the guide there seeing a clean install rather then sloppy often buggy upgrade type install! And the one thing most never realize is that they should have made a full system image backup before trying anything like this just in case.

I got a virus today. I ran avast, malwarebytes and super anti spy ware. (avast indicated the type of infection as a rootkitgen) They got rid of some but every time I restarted I would scan and avast or malware would find some new infection. Also, Right after my first scan/removal today with avast I restarted my computer and when my desk top was loading I got a message that said significant hardware changes were detected and I must activate windows in 3 days. Answer:How to Extend the Windows 7 RC Activation Trial Period Up to 120 Days

This is really old news.
It's been more than 120 days since the RC version was available ... And there's a newer version anyway.
It's time to purchase a legal version now ... Even though it doesn't run as fast as the RC version

There's been an update .. And I'm not sure re-arming will work now anyway.

Greetings!

This is relatively new experience for me and I have spent some time Googling for solutions.

A friend of mine upgraded his genuinely activated Windows 8 Pro Parallels virtual machine to Windows 10 Pro. After the upgrade, he finds that his Windows 10 Pro is not activating. When I check, the error 0xC004C003 states that the activation is being blocked.

A common suggestion I have encountered was to install the OS from scratch, but that isn't practical in this situation. I am also aware that with Windows 10 the licensing is based on unique hardware identification, which makes me feel that this might affect virtual machine installations due to the nature of virtualizaiton, but surely Microsoft had thought about this before rolling out Windows 10 with the new licensing scheme (or at least I hope).

Another suggestion I read and tried was "slrmgr.vbs /rearm" --> reboot --> "slrmgr.vbs /ato". I still receive the same error. I also tried "slrmgr.vbs /ipk Windows8KeyHere" but it didn't work. I received an error code "0xc004e016" about the key being invalid.

Any ideas?

Hi everybody:
My problem is this: I just build a new rig, (my first build), ordered a Ultra ATA/133 Maxtor w/160GB, just to find out that i could also go the SATA route, ,so I did lots of reading and decided to go w/ a Seagate Barracuda 160 GB SATA, now I have two drives, one is a PATA and one SATA,I cant make a RAID s/u (at least I dont think can) so the PATA is s/u with windows XP (for every day use)and it is activated, The Barracuda is also set up with XP (for gaming) not activated. So I just adjust my BIOS accordingly to choose the boot drive. my dilemma is do I have to pay for a second OS?? even if its for the same rig??? or is there other options???
if anybody have a suggestion I will be very grateful..
p/s--Im on the 25Th day and dont want to loose my info.

thanks: Vitico66

hi everyone,

earlier on i installed a clean copy of windows home premium 7 64 bit.
when it prompted me to enter a product key i entered the one that's on the case of my computer(the product key is for windows 7 home premium) and when it got the desktop i went into system properties and it says "3 days untill activation. Activate Windows now."
i will now add some screen prints.

What will happen if i leave it for 3 days will it automatically activate it is a genuine copy?

thanks in advanced.

Answer:3 days until Automatic Activation?

As this is a genuine copy I would personally not wait for the automatic activation to take place but would select the activate now option.

If you wait for the automatic option and something goes wrong - either at your end or Microsoft's - then it could cause you some inconvenience, such as watermarks and loss of functionality and the need to possibly call Microsoft to activate manually.

Problems are not likely but I feel it is better to not chance this

Answer:Use Vista without activation for 120 days

Here a little more INFO....

You can easily extend the 30-day Windows Vista grace period to 120 days. No hacks required. This is an official, supported operation directly from Microsoft.

To extend the grace period another 30 days, simply start a command prompt as Administrator, and issue this command:

slmgr -rearm

Reboot for the change to take effect, and voila, you have 30 more days. You can only extend three times, so the total grace period for a Vista evaluation is 120 days. You do, however, need to be careful that you've installed the correct edition of Vista. At the end of that 120 day grace period, you'll have to pony up a license fee for the edition of Vista you've installed.

I have W10 installed for about a week and I want to know what'll happen after the 30 days grace period is gone. Does the system lock itself, does it go back to W7 (which seems impossible since I've done a clean install)??

BTW, I have genuine W7 before I installed W10.

Answer:After the 30 days of no activation, what'll happen???

It's not really a grace period as when a previous Windows install let you use it without entering a key for 30 days, after which it went into some minimal use mode.

There was a lot of fuss the first few days when the Activation servers were overloaded by the millions and millions of folks trying to activate their FREE Upgrades. But by now, if your install is still not activating, there is something different going on.

Did you do an Upgrade install? Or, did you do a Clean Install to a machine that never had an activated Win10 on it? IF you did the latter, sorry, it's never going to activate.

Just upgraded my Compaq laptop from Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium through download. New at this and never knew there would be a crisis. What now? Do I hit Activate Windows Now link? Or Change Product key? Any help is greatly appreciated. Bernie

Answer:3 days until automatic activation notice

It depends how you've obtained your copy. Windows 7 is not free, and if you bought it - it should have come with a key. You can't just download and use it for longer than the trial period (30 days) otherwise. If you have a key - use "activate now"

Hi all
Anybody who has been using the leaked preview of Office 2010 will get an activation message after 30 days-- and you can't activate it yet as it's not officially out.
It won't stop working however.

But since I downloaded Office Enterprise 2007 with the FREE Technet subscription on this site I'm not going to bother with it (unless it becomes available on the Free subscription). I'm actually quite happy with Office 2007.

Hello,
I want to know the best practice for REFERECE image windows 7
My server kms is  AUTO_DISCOVERY  if I build my reference image windows 7 on this network and I take ghost (image state before running sysprep), the image is auto actived
After I deploy with sysprep and rearm-0 but problem appeared on kms server with account computer. if i want to fix it,  I read on this forum that we need to tape slmg-rearm just before sysprep computer ..
If I want no activation reference computer I need to shutdown the kms server or build the windows on another network without kms server but the reference computer is good for only 30days after i need to reinstall each time

What is the good solution ?
1- never activate my reference image and reinstall windows 7 each time I want to change setting
2- install windows 7 on the network auto discovery after sysprep with rearm=0 ???
reference image = just before tape sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown....

Answer:REFERENCE IMAGE 30 DAYS ACTIVATION kms

Hi,
1. You must do a sysprep before doing a ghost. Otherwise the CMID is not reset which can cause problem with KMS activation. And there is no need to activate your reference image.
2. Activation can be reset an unlimited number of times for an activated Key Management Service (KMS) clients. You can use the sysprep /generalize command where the value of the SkipRearm setting is equal to 1 for the reference image. After capturing this
image, use the sysprep /generalize command, where the value of the SkipRearm setting is equal to 0. But if you rebuild your reference image from scratch no need to worry about that.

Hi there
I recently changed a MOBO from an INTEL based one to one using an AMD PHENOM processor -- W7 didn't want any new activation rather surprisingly. (Broken Mobo and I had a spare ASUS MOBO lying around).

However the first time I switched to using a LAN cable instead of a Wifi USB adapter I got the "Hardware has changed - please activate windows. OK it activated fine -- however seems strange to me that a MOBO change didn't call for any activation (Disks, memory, DVD device etc were canaballized from the old machine) but a simple switch from Wifi to a LAN did. !!! The internal logic of the activation process seems totally illogical and bizarre. (Running W7 x-64 ULTIMATE). !!!

Hi Gents,

Hope someone can help me here. I've been using a retail version of Win7 Home premium 64 for about 2 years now with no issues.

During that time I've reinstalled the product possibly 6 or 8 times. Excessive I know but when things start to go wrong I like to start fresh again. Anyway from memory the last 2 times I have had to use phone activation.

A couple of weeks ago I dropped my laptop and killed the HDD. Put in a new one and reinstalled Win. I've just tried to activate with no luck. I went to phone activation and being lazy I typed in my old code I had saved from last time.

Now I can't activate and when I try and open the phone activation box I get a pop up from the toolbar saying the copy isn't genuine and nothing more.

Is there a way to resolve this or have I pissed off the activation so much that I actually have to shell out for a new copy?

Thanks in advance and I'm located in Thailand if that makes a difference.

Hello, I have my original activation key but when trying to finalize it, windows tells me this key is only for upgrades not for clean installs?

I had to to do clean install and it was from my original official backup disc so I'm not sure what the problem is?

Answer:Activation says my key is only for upgrades not activation?

Maybe you bought an upgarde disc and not a full install disc.

Use your original disc, not the backup.

Hello, I was using OEM copy of Windows xp media center for my desktop. Last month, the motherboard become unsuable so i replaced it with another type. I also changed my processor and memory. Because I dont have a CD copy of the original OS, I was not able to use the OEM product key. I used "pirated copy" instead. How can I use my OEM product key to validate the copy of Windows I am using?

Answer:windows xp validation:31 days left

You can't. The OEM copy died with the motherboard. The only legal replacement is the same model of MB.

Please visit the TSG Rules, we don't assist with pirate copies of Windows here.

Hey people,

I recently posted a message regarding a laptop of a friend of mine, requesting help.

Now, i wanted to check if the windows 7 were genuine.
So, i went to the validation page of microsoft, I downloaded the program it asked and I run the check. After checking it told me that the windows 7 are genuine.

Thing is, I asked him about it, and he told me that they are pirated. When I asked for more information, he told me that he downloaded a genuine ISO from digitalriver, and skipped the "enter product key" when installing them. Since then, he has been downloading updates etc, without any issues. The only thing he has done is hiding that notorious anti-piracy update from windows update (KB97 something)

Can this really be? Shouldnt the validation check at least ask him to activate the windows?

Answer:Windows 7 Activation

Might be that he installed it less than 30 days ago by which time(30 dats or something) he would get asked to enter the product key or his windows copy would get shut down.

Ring up windows support line it may be that your activation code has been flagged up as being accessed from multiple machines leading them to the conclusion that its a pirated code.

Answer:Need help with Windows XP Pro activation

Welcome to Major Geeks! I've called Microsoft many, many times in the past to activate and every so often, there's a communication problem or I get routed to tech support or some craziness... the activation people are in India, so the occasional bad connection is understandable. All I can really suggest is to try calling them again on a different phone. If you boot in Safe Mode and log in as Administrator, you can run a product key extraction tool (like ProduKey or KeyFinderThingy) so you can have the product key if the activation people need it...... good luck!

Hi all,
Laptop details as follows:
HP DV8-1250ea which came with Windows 7 Home Premium
Upgraded to Windows 8 Pro using the discounted upgrade scheme a few years back and subsequently updated to 8.1 Pro
Took advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro (as coming from Windows 8.1 Pro)
I have recently upgraded both the RAM and Wifi Card (along with a BIOS Firmware upgrade) which triggered the Windows 10 reactivation - called the self help phone system and my activation was denied - went through to customer services and was told that because I used the discounted Windows 8 Pro upgrade, the licence wasn't valid for upgrade and that I am only valid for Windows 10 Home due to my base licence being Windows 7 Home Premium. Advisor told me I am to reinstall my whole machine down to Windows 7 and re-upgrade.
I am not too happy about having to do this as no where during the Windows 10 Upgrade process was I told this, and if I hadn't have changed the hardware once the year's free upgrade expires, I would have had to pay out for a licence.
I am also concerned that a number of people I know used the discounted upgrade to Windows 8 from XP/Vista a few years back - are you telling me that should they ever encounter the Windows Re-Activation they are going to be told they need to pay for a licence as XP/Vista didn't qualify for the Windows 10 upgrade even though they came from Windows 8.1 Pro?
Has anyone else encountered this?

Answer:Windows 10 Re-Activation

I know it is inconvenient but since you made some changes to your hardware, stuff like this can and will happen. After all, your computer gets activated based on a hardware profile stored at Microsoft. If those don't match your existing hardware, the reactivation will be triggered.
On the bright side: Once you do perform the upgrade again to W10 from 7, you do not have to worry about product keys and such.

will after she throw it across the world, i gathered up the parts and put them in an bag
the next day my friend gave me his old HP laptop for we can play mmo together again, but it did not have an hard drive so i put my hopefully still working hard drive in it
"its alive" it worked fine, after i downloaded drive software online.

so the window activation key thing comes up saying its invalid then it goes on to say that i should type the key form the sticker on the key board.
my sister tore the sticker off years ago....so i bring up system through control panel. an their is an window activation key already there....i click it and it say not valid.
so i goto Microsoft.com/genuine to check validation and it says
Validation Incomplete

The validation service is unable to determine whether this copy of Windows Vista is genuine.

what does that mean...it never did this on my acer....or i never noticed it i guess

Answer:windows activation key HELP PLZ

Hello Drew, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Unfortunately, with a OEM copy of Vista, that came preinstalled on your laptop, the product key number is permanently tied to the original computer (your broken laptop) that it was first installed on and can only be activated on it. You will not be able to use that product key number on any other computer.

You might contact HP to see if you may be able to get a replacement installation DVD with it's product key for that HP laptop's model and serial number. This way you may be able to do a factory restore with it to have it's original OS installed. Depending on how much they want to charge you for this, it may or may not be cheaper to just buy a full retail copy of Vista to use instead.

Hope this helps some,
Shawn

so i've changed around my hardware a few times lately, and reformated. i changed my cd-rw to a dvd-rw. then i changed both of my HDs to two new western digital SATAs. windows told me to activate my OS, i said ok, and i get a message that the software has been activated too many times based on the hardware changes and to use a different key.

they're kidding right, they dont expect me to buy another version? because honestly they can go you know what themselves.

i'm just looking for someone to tell me, do i obtain a new key through them or do they really expect me to buy another copy?

I've popped in the XP disc and Installed Windows again. The problem I get is when I try to log on. I'm required to activate windows to log on, but I can't log on to activate it.

The Error message I'm getting is :

This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate windows now.

If I click Yes, it logs on, but then automatically logs off again.

Any ideas?

Answer:Windows Activation. -_-

Hi Olliegami and welcome to TSF

You might try a format before reinstalling windows. From what you posted, sounds like the 30 day period has timed out.

Note: Once you have installed windows, don't adjust the date on the clock.
I did that once and thereby exceeded the 30day period. I couldn't get past the login screen you described and had to re-install windows to finish my setup.

Hope this helps,
Mack1

Have you checked the COA sticker on the side of the computer that usually has the proper keycode on it, it will also give you what version should be installed.Or maybe if you have changed the hard drive it may not be recognized.

Question: Windows Activation

I have just re-formatted the hard drive on my PC and re-loaded everything. All was ok until I re booted the PC when I got the message that the PC's hardware had changed and I needed to validate windows again. This happened 4 or 5 times and I had to ring Microsoft as I got a message that I had validated it too often (or something like that). They gave me a new code to enable Windows to work. As I hadn't changed any hardware - why did the message keep appearing?

Answer:Windows Activation

The validation code is stored on the hard drive. When you re format, the code is removed, so a new one has to be entered. It takes about ten things on you computer to compare with original. Some of these are drivers etc that may have been altered or removed.hence need for re activation..

"Microsoft out of box experience has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

any suggestions on how I can get my copy activated?

Answer:Windows Activation

Telephone Activation - if you choose to activate Windows XP using the telephone, you will need to read the 44-digit Product ID to the support representative in the activation center. You will then be given a 42-digit Activation ID, which you have to enter in the activation wizard. The support representative will wait until you finish typing in the Activation ID to ensure that the activation is successful.

I'm having a problem understanding how many people on here think, so I'm going to ask this question. Why are so many people throwing a hissy fit about having to activate XP? I have a legal corporate key that I use for my own system at home, so I don't have to do any of the activating. My fiancee has a laptop I bought for her with XP Home on it, which I did have to activate once, soon after buying the laptop. I've also helped quite a few neighbors and friends activate their copies, either for the first time, or after making some hardware changes. I have never EVER had any hassle from Microsoft, nor has it taken more than 5 minutes to do. So my question is this:

What is the big freakin' deal? Is 5 minutes on a toll free call too much to ask, assuming it isn't done online? Is laziness that rampant? Or is it just that far too many people fail to realize that Microsoft has ever right to protect their property, and they've done a pretty good job of implementing a protection scheme that isn't too obtrusive. I see so many people throwing a fit, saying they won't use XP because of the activation. I find this to be absolutely ridiculous. Can anyone explain this rash of madness to me, or am I missing something since I don't have to activate my own machine?

NOTE to mods: If this turns into a pointless Linux vs Windows debate, please lock the thread.

Answer:Windows XP Activation

I've always wondered the same thing.. only I was to lazy to type it all out

I think that an awful lot of people start playing around with their systems and activate it as soon as they get into windows. ( A MISTAKE) especially if your tweaking it.. get it stable before you click. you've got 30 days.. use it ...

Out of the blue, this Windows Activation box says:

The Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation

Then, there's 3 choices to click on:

Buy a new product key online
Type a different product key
Contact Dell to help resolve the problem

My desktop picture is all blank/black too (but the icons are still on there.) This is all news to me. I didn't type in anything in the first place.

I've had this Dell desktop computer for several years & this never did this before.

Hopefully someone can help me. (I'd try retyping the long digit product key in that I always had, but it's at my parents' house where I'd hopefully find it.)

I was able to purchase a windows vista home premium license early in 2009.  Since the capacity of my hard drive is just minimal, and I do not have a DVD writer insalled yet, my computer crashed several times starting in June, 2009.  I have to have my computer rebooted thru our neighbor's internet cafe to save on costs.  This happened in June and October, 2009 when the message "Product key already in use" always appeared with the number of days for activation to be valid.  During this period, sometimes when I was not able to activate after 30 days the message "this microsoft version is counterfeit" with some features being disabled or no longer could not be used.  Sometime in November I was able to purchase and install a DVD writer and a larger (640 gb) hard disk, but up to now the message product key already in use is still appears and the activation cannot be  done or finished.  please help me on this.   I want to be legal and licensed, updated and upgraded but I find myself in this predicament.  please help me.  thanks

Answer:windows activation

Where did you purchase the license from? It sounds like you have not purchased this from Microsoft. Licenses should always be bought from the manufacturer. If you have bought this from a third party then I would suggest you get your money back (if you can). And then contact Microsoft to get a valid product key.P.s welcome to computerhope

We have about 30 PC's with embedded BIOS product keys for Windows 7/8.1 (I don't remember which) But I know that if we put a Windows 10 HDD into the same machine and activate it with that BIOS Key it says it's activated. Does that mean that the hardware ID is now registered with Microsoft as a windows 10 Upgrade?

Question: Windows Activation

Hi, hope your well.I own 2 laptops from HP and have been very pleased usually. I recently updated my Pavillion DV7laptop to windows 10 and did a wipe as I wanted a completly fresh install.Install has gone great but I cannot activate my windows as the windows serial code is unreadable under my laptop with general wear and tear. (I can easily provide images to confirm this.) I have no documentation showing what my windows serial code is. This means I am limited in changing things on windows. Can you help at all HP?!?  I have tried to contact via support on the website but when I enter the laptop SN it comes up with warranty out of date and I cant speak to anyone via online chat or phone to discuss this. Thanks Mark

Answer:Windows Activation

That is a Windows 7 Code...useless for Windows 10. Did you not get a Code when you purchased Windows 10 or did you do the upgrade while it was still free?

Hi

I work for local goverment. We bought several PCs with Windows 7 but had them rolled back to XP for deployment.

We paid for the Windows 7 OS, and additionaly a license for the XP that was loaded. So, several of us took the Windows 7 CD that came with the new laptops and installed it on our current laptops. But it won't activate. It says the product key is incorrect.

No product key came with the software, I assume it's embedded some how in the software, but it seems impossible that it would know the laptop it came with from Dell.

Does anyone know about this? It's all valid, nothing shady going on, just loaded a purchased version of Windows 7. There is no product key on the packaging or on the computer it shipped with.

thanks

My downloaded copy of Win 8 pro using the key i was given works fine and installs fine and activates on a dual boot or also just on a single boot etc. I tried it also in a virtual programe but in this Win 8 needs to be activated and will not on the same key. Is this because it thinks the virtual machine is a different computer?

Also i have had to re-install windows quite a few times on my computer and have had no trouble with doing this and i was wondering How does it know my computer is the same one as i re-formated my drive before re-installing, As Windows 8 activation always seems to activate ok

Hope this makes sense
Thank You

Answer:Activation - Windows 8

Are you trying to run Windows 8 from within Windows 8? It would seem to me, that you would have to use a VHD of Win 8 MADE by MS for Virtualization, it would have it's own "activation" -But if you are using Windows 8 from within Windows 8 and trying to use the same Prod Key for Both - THAT will not work, One or the other will be de-activated. You can't have two Windows 8 on the same network using the same product key using the same Microsoft/Skydrive Login - Both will become deactivated, it's a licensing conflict.

Hello,Yesterday I bought a brand new HP Pavillion 15 ab-273tx laptop which comes with pre-installed windows 10. However after setting up he laptop, Windows is unable to activate itself. The activation window shows: Error code: 0xC004C003. Error details reveal: "......The specified product key has been blocked." Why is it blocked? I just bought this laptop yesterday, and from what I know, Windows 10 product keys are pre-installed in BIOS so what's the matter here, why is this product key not working? Please Help, HP!

Question: windows activation

if i build a new computer and stop using my current computer atm ie its out of date, not good for games and i scrap it or uninstall windows from it, can i install windows which i bought for my old computer and install it on my new build, or will i have to buy a completely new windows OEM for new computer

Answer:windows activation

All depends if you have the windows disc? you cant take out your hard drive and put it in the new pc and expect it to work, it doesnt work like that.
But if you have the disc just install it and use the same cd key and it will be fine, as long as your only running it on one pc(one pc per cd key)

Hope that makes sense

I just upgraded my old computer, new case etc. I put in my Hard-drive and boom, i've got to activate XP. I've got all my stuff on there, and i need that computer!

I click "online activation" and it says my there may be a problem with my connection (im using my laptop so definately not...).

I called the phone activation center, i had enter a 42-digit code, and they said they couldnt activate it, and i should go to microsoft.com/genuine and look something up (no other instructions). They just said maybe it was pirated, which it isn't.

I may had a COA sticker on the old case, but thats been gone for years. I need your help!
The Assistant wont accept the online activation, and the automated assisstant says the code is invalid. I've got nothing else to use, i hope you TechGuy can help!

Question: Windows Activation

Ok, so I'm one of those guys that likes to reformat about once a year, just to clear out everything I don't need. With me being myself working with the things i do, I build up tons of garbage I don't need and before I know it, my 280gigs of HD space is nearly full. I'm also going to be adding another hardrive and put am going to install Linux onto a new partition that I want to make. But now the question. I've already used my Windows XP installation cd 5 times, and yes all on this same computer (I used up 3 of them within the first month of building it cuz I had a bad drive that I just couldn't figure out). But anyway last time I reformatted and reinstalld windows, I ended up having to call Microsoft about the activation code cuz it's been used 4 times already.

Do I have to call them again to reactivate windows? Or when I called them last time, do they just give me another 4 uses.... They gave me a new 25 digit code over the phone last time that I've got copied around here somewhere, but will that work again? Or do I need a new one?

Answer:Windows Activation

You shouldn't have any problems, assuming it's a legal license. I'm not quite sure why everyone seems to think it's such a hassle, but a quick phone call, and you'll be activated and running fine.

For one computer i clicked No and signd in and i was in windows with a 30 day reminder to activate windows. From there i was able to install the ethernet card and service provider information, then sign right on and activate. However the other computer wont get past that login screen! I have hit No 50 times and tried going to the end of activation then hitting Remind Me Later but i cant get anywhere. Please help and thank you in advance

Question: windows activation

Do you have to activate Win XP and if not how can I stop popup reminder for activation countdown. Is there anyway cause it is very annoying.

Answer:windows activation

A necessary evil I'm afraid. Windows XP will typically remind you to activate the product (most users will have 30 days to activate XP after installation).

To activate XP manually, you can use the Start menu shortcut in the System Tools Accessories folder. At the command prompt, type: oobe/msoobe /a or Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Activate Windows.

I recently upgraded my PC from Win 7 Home Premium to Win 7 Professional, but now every few days my desktop wallpaper disappears and turns solid black, and in the lower right corner I get the message that "This copy of WIndows is Not Genuine" and it then prompts me to re-enter my serial number and re-activate my copy of Windows 7 on-line. Has anyone ever encountered this problem before? Right before this happens I get a cryptic error message to the effect that there has been some change that has called the authenticity of Windows into question. It's pretty annoying to have to keep activating my copy if Windows 7 evety few days. Does anyone have a clus as to why this is occurring and how I might be able to resolve it?

Thanks for any and all advice!

Answer:Windows 7 Keeps Asking For (Re-) Activation

Did you change some hardware after upgrading to Pro? Retail keys get tied to a hardware hash so if you make significant changes, you may get deactivated. But it shoudnt happen off and on.

Random deactivations can happen because of a permissions problem. Follow the steps here.

Ok, so here's what I keep running into.......I turn off UAC, and within a few hours I start getting a notification that I need to activate Windows 8. It's a legit install, and this only happens when I turn off the UAC.

If I turn UAC back on, then the activation is not a problem and all is good. However, if I try to re-activate with the UAC off, it runs into an error.

Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks -

Answer:Windows 8 Activation and UAC

Didn't see this yet.

Does it show as activated with UAC turned on?

It should work without problems.
If you have a legit install, that would need a legit activation (online). Also, legit settings: UAC turned on but of course some users need the UAC off to their own preference.

I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my PC.
I have activated it Successfuly.
MY question is .In the future when i have to reinstall my OS i have to activate again and again.
Instead of doing that there is a Microsoft Digital Signiture(a file about 7kb) which is written somewhere on my hdd. That file contains the Confirmation ID#.This can be used in case of reinstalling of OS,so i dont have to activate again.INstead you just enter the confirmation ID and then the activation is completed.
Is it true this or how does Windows 7 keeps the Activation.
i dont want to activate every time.
That is why i would like to know if such file exist and that is?
Thanks

Answer:Windows 7 Activation

Activation is only a click away, why bother finding another route? Unless you are going to upgrade multiple pieces of hardware at the same time, then you'd have to do phone activation.
