Importing Talktalk emails to gmail

Question: Importing Talktalk emails to gmail

I have set up the above import and it is working, but my actual TalkTalk inbox is now empty.
I must have missed a tick box somewhere for still leaving the mails on TT, but now I can't find the option.
Any help appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Importing Talktalk emails to gmail

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Importing Talktalk emails to gmail

In Gmail open settings, then accounts and import. Where it says 'Check email from other accounts (using POP3):' and your Talk Talk email address select 'edit info', in the popup re-enter your Talk Talk password and tick the box for 'Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server...' Select 'save changes'.

This morning I have completed two on-line registrations which should have generated automated email responses. When neither arrived I sent myself a test email which has also not come back to me.Unlike last weeks TT server problem this time T'bird is just telling me that there are "no messages on the server."Is anyone else experiencing this today?

Answer:TalkTalk Emails - Again!!

To activate a TalkTalk e-mail account an e-mail has to be sent using a completely different e-mail address (perhaps you can still use your old one to do so). Also remember that the e-mail address and password for the e-mail account is quite separate from the TalkTalk BB connection username ([email protected]) and password.

Question: Talktalk emails

Is anyone else having a problem receiving TalkTalk emails in the last few days. The odd time I receive my emails I receive all the outstanding ones but about 19 times out os 20 I get the following message: Task 'mail.talktalk.net - Receiving' reported error (0x80042108) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'In my Mailwasher program I am told that the connection times out perhaps due to a firewall - not so as my Comodo Firewall is programmed to accept Talktalk emails!Any suggestions appreciated. I am running Windows XP, Outlook 2003 and Mailwasher Pro.

Answer:Talktalk emails

There have been the odd occasions recently when TalkTalk has not gathered my e-mails from a Tiscali account, but 10 minutes later (the time set to check for any new messages) they dutifully arrive.

When I logged onto my Email this morning ( Win7 64bit / Windows Live mail / Talktalk ) I received all my emails dating back to when I installed Windows7 earlier in the year and all the Emails also showed in the unread file. I installed the latest Microsoft updates last night and the system re-configured itself when I logged on this morning without any problems.Has anyone had a similar problem ? I can sort this ok but its annoying to say the least

Answer:Win7 / Talktalk Emails

There has been all sorts of problems with the TalkTalk (or Tiscali/LineOne) emailing systems for a few months now. Some links you may want to check out:TT Product support forum (several email-related threads): click hereLogin to TT webmail page click here states: "Some of our users are experiencing delays in receiving their emails. Please bear with us as our engineers fix this problem. Thank you for your patience."ISP review (5 pages of complaints relating to the email system): click hereI'm sure there are many similar discussions on other online forums & sites. At least you got your emails - many of mine (& others) have vanished into the ether. FYI, I had originally signed-up with Tiscali many years ago & still retain the tiscali.co.uk domain in my email ID.BTW, I changed my registered email address here (the PCA Forums) 2 months ago, but wasn't receiving their confirmation email. But today I tried again & it came through. So today's the first time in 2 months that I've been able to login here! I'd been in touch with the FE for help & suggested it was a forum problem, but now I know better - it was Tiscali/TT's fault all along. G

The question really says all about what I want to do, or need help on. I recently signed up for a new outlook account to try out the new outlook preview and I've set up gmail to automatically forward new messages to my outlook account so that I can use outlook to manage my gmail account.

Do any of you know how I would be able to forward the old messages, and not the new ones, to my outlook? I already know that they can be fetched into outlook by outlook's very own service, forwarding would be faster, so..?! Also, since I now use outlook to send email on behalf of my gmail account, how do I make it sync each email I send using outlook with my gmail - so that gmail has it all?

TY in advance. Please do help.

Good Day, I am having a problem with my primary email client GMAIL. I have 2 other email accounts and wish to have new messages imported into GMAIL's inbox. I know how to do this, but I am having problem's. To set this up in GMAIL, i would go to SETTINGS-IMPORT FROM ANOTHER ADDRESS, then i would add my other email client and password. Back in the settings window, it says "importing- will take several hours, blah,blah,blah.." and then it would set, and i would actually start receiving my new messages from my other 2 email accounts, no problems, except one that I will mention later.
The problem I am having, for whatever reason, one of my email accounts stop importing my new messages, YAHOO.COM. I would go through the settings procedure again, everything is fine again, then it stops importing again!!!!!
The other problem that I mentioned above is that the messages I SEND from my LIVE.COM account is importing into my GMAIL inbox!
I checked gmails troubleshooting on this problem but to no avail, does anyone know what the problem is?
Thank you for your suggestions, Roger.

When I try to do it through Accounts & Import in settings I get the error message:
There was a problem connecting to [my server]
Server returned error: "Connection timed out: There may be a problem with the settings you added. Please contact your other email provider to verify the correct server name and port."

As far I know all of that information is correct. Does anyone know of work around?

I have set up in the appropriate Gmail settings to do this and was working OK, well, for some time back.

I noticed that I wasn't getting any mail from that account so checked that setting which seemed OK. I clicked Check for mail now and got nothing and then History which showed nothing for the past week. I thought that perhaps that provider had stopped POP 3 for it.

So I sent a test email to that address from a completely different account I have which popped up immediately in my Gmail inbox, wonderful!

Going back to Gmail settings I checked again that account History which again said there was nothing!

Also I went to that actual account via webmail and found 2000 messages filling my quota! Luckily not important.

What has happened here? Please advise - thanks,

I recently had to change from yahoomail to gmail, because my yahoomail account got hacked. The hackers wiped out my contact list and all of my inbox, but left my "folders" file containing all the old emails that I had put into folders. Two questions: 1) How do I import the contents of my old yahoo folders file into my new gmail account, and 2) How do I set up a list of contacts on gmail? I recently switched from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium (after I set up the new gmail account.) Thanks.

Folks,I'm about to help someone, remotely, move some emails...The situation is that he has a work laptop that is being returned tomorrow, as he is retiring. This laptop has Outlook, (2007 I think). This Outlook has a considerable number of personal emails that he want to retain. He has a personal laptop, running XP Home, that does not have Outlook, but does, of course, have Outlook Express available. He currently doesn't use an email client on this laptop. What is wanted is all the emails, from the Outlook laptop, exported/imported into the XP laptop. What I propose to do is the folowing... will this work?...1)From within Outlook, do a File>Export and end up with a backup .pst file.2)This .pst file will be copied onto the XP laptop.3) On the XP laptop Outlook Express will be opened.4)from within Outlook Express File>Import>Mail messages and choose Outlook. What I'm not sure about is whether this last import stage, 4), will ask me to locate the .pst file, (as Outlook isn't installed). Does anyone out there know?I've done a dummy at work, (wihtout completing the process), but because it has Outlook installed, (which is the default and is what is used for email), when I try the import in OE I think it finds OUTLOOK itself, and thus knows where to find the .pst file.I hope my question makes sense.Anyone know if that will work?My second option is1) StartOutlook Express on the work machine.2) Import emails into that.3)Locate and copy the "Store Folder" for OE4)Paste that folder onto th... I am attempting to move all my emails from a machine with W7 SP1 Windows Live Mail to a new machine with W10 Outlook. As I understand it is not possible to transfer from WLM on one machine to Outlook on another machine I decided to install WLM on the new machine as an interim measure.

I backed up the emails by exporting from WLM to a folder on a Kingston Data Traveller, then installed a completely new WLM on the new machine and imported the emails from Kingston to WLM where they appeared in Storage Folders > Imported Folder. To my surprise the import procedure also copied in the details of the accounts I had set up on the old machine. Using Windows Explorer I copied Imported Folder and pasted it to C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail. Having closed then re-opened WLM I was disappointed to find no sign of my emails in the Inbox folder and all the sub folders. Tried getting callback from MS Support - although very quick they couldn't help as WLM no longer supported.

Please can you advise me if I have done something wrong or omitted a step, and what I need to do now to complete the transfer of emails.

Hi,

I am really hoping someone will be able to help me fix this issue, as its hampering my work and I am left scratching my head as to the solution.

I have an acer aspire 1810TZ laptop running windows 7, using outlook 2003 (I was using 2007 but hoped going back would help...the reasons why are to follow)

For my work I need to import emails into a web-based database, the software is from Bond and is called Adapt (http://www.bondadapt.com/section.asp?catid=1207), using Oracle and SQL databases (I will not pretend to understand this area). It also use Java platform 2 se 1.05_14

Everything was fine, i ask Adapt to import an email, it takes me to outlook, i select the email and it imports it as a .msg file, with any attachments also saved.

Now, when i ask to import an email, it will not do anything other than show the header/subject in Adapt, no attachments, no .msg file. If i ask it to include attachments it will import a .txt file of the message but not the attachments.

Java Console gives the following message

SyncManager - version 2.1
WARNING - It has not been possible to download a resource required by ADAPT.

Hello I am on a Pentium 4 PC 3000 mz running XP Pro Media Center. I have a second harddrive which I have installed XP Pro on by disconnecting cables from motherboard to the second drive. Next copy the .DBX files from the old drive and paste them directly into the directory on the new drive where you deleted the other .DBX files from.

When you open Outlook Express it will read from the newly pasted .DBX files.

I have an old HDD from my previous PC in an external enclosure. I want to transfer the old Outlook Express files into my Windows Mail program, so that I can read my old emails. Can anyone tell me what files or folders I need to access on my old drive, and how to go about this.

Answer:Importing old emails into Windows Mail

I assume you want to copy the Emails and the Address book.If the old hard drive is still active, create a folder on the hard drive to hold data. Open Outlook Express and select (from taskbar) tile windows. Highligt the emails you want to keep and drag (or copy & Paste) to the folder you created. They will be saved as *.eml files. When you have copies all the emails you want, go to File, export, address book, other and select csv format (Excel). save this to the same folder. You should then be able to import the address book into Windows mail (you will have to check the procedure yourself). The Emails are now ordinary files and can be opened directly withthe mouse.hope this helpsTerry

Morning all,

Last time I imported a .pst file into a new installation of Outlook '07 it brought in all my emails just fine, but then re-downloaded all of them (because a copy is kept on the server). I now need to do this again on another computer (different .pst and email accounts), and don't want to run into the same problem. How can I avoid this problem?

Also, I read a brief guide on importing the .pst file, and it described adding the email account first, and then importing the .pst. Do I need to do this for all the email accounts before importing the .pst, or just one to gain access to Outlook? I normally use a Mac, and am doing this as a favor for my boss, so please forgive me for the tedious questions!

Thanks.

Answer:Stop Outlook '07 from re-downloading emails after importing .pst

Hi lukenn

Personally, I just connect the .pst file to the new profile, in Outlook, avoiding the Import process.
Connecting the .pst file is a snap.
File > Open > Outlook Data File
Browse to the location of the .pst file and select it.
But even connecting the .pst file is not going to eliminate the downloading of the older messages. The new profile doesn't know what was downloaded by the previous profile.

What you could do is move everything out of the Inbox, into another folder, before allowing Outlook to connect to the mail server. Then connect to the mail server. After the messages are downloaded you would then be able to delete most of the messages from the Inbox, since they are duplicates.

Or as advised here: http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/duplicates.htm#Profile_Recreation
Start Outlook at least once with its new .pst file and allow it to collect the messages.
Then connect the old .pst file and make it the default delivery location.
No, you do not need to configure an e-mail account to access Outlook. You should be able to skip that part of the process.
You do need to configure an e-mail account to do anything beyond accessing Outlook.

I have a hard drive with Win7 on, pulled out of a PC because the motherboard has died and have it connected via USB/SATA cable to a Mac. I am trying to retrieve the email in Outlook 2010 (.pst files) to import into Outlook 2010 on another PC, also Win7. The folder Documents and Settings is a hidden folder and although the Mac can see it, it's not able to import and files. Connecting the drive to a PC using this process does not show the drive at all, hence I'm using a Mac, where it just springs up on the desktop.

Is there some way I can unlock this folder to gain access to the .pst files?

Any suggestions are most welcome, thank you.

Answer:Importing emails from hidden folder from Win7

You can do it through a PC if you know the username that was used. The PST files will be located in the following directory, which you can type in an Explorer window to navigate to directly:
<DriveLetter>:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

I know basically nothing when it comes to Macs, so I can't help you there. Good Luck!

hi,

ok, i at times have to mass email out to a bunch of media people with diferent press releases but i cant seem to figure out a way to import them into a group directly without them being in the main address database; the problem is when i import them from a .csv it goes into the main address database, and then i have to pick and choose which ones that i just imported to group them so that i can send the email to the apppropriate recipient.

so what i have done so far is before i import a list to email, i just delete all the addresses in the database and then import and then email; and then delete them again so that i can import the next batch for a different release; that works but it seems so 19th century ; shouldnt microsoft figure out a way to make that scenario easier to accomplish?

also, my friend has office 2003, and he has problem with the autocomplete feature of addresses; it works with some names but not others; i think it has something to do with .nick or .nk2 but dont know how to fix it for him; please advise

thank u

I just bought a new laptop because my old one was fried.

So I am using Windows 7 and bought Outlook 2010 to use for emails. Anyone know how I can import all of my old emails saved, account settings, etc, from Windows Mail on Vista? I have it all stored on an external harddrive. Tried to follow the steps that Outlook 2010 provides and it doesn't work.

Anyone have an idea?

Answer:Importing Emails into Outlook 2010 from Windows Mail

As for the Account settings, I would just reenter them manually.

I do NOT have 2010 installed, so I can not help with the others.

Hi,

Please don't think i'm impatient but i really need some advice.

I posted this problem yesterday, i think it's gone to the second page, maybe someone will get to it eventually, i hope you don't mind me posting it again.

Just before my pc crashed, my son, who shares Outlook Express with me exported his emails on to a cd, at that time i had Windows Me and Outlook Express 5.

I had a new c drive put in and went back to Windows 98, i also updated to Outlook Express 6.

My son has gone through all the stages of trying to import his emails from the cd back into his identity in Outlook Express but they went into my identity even though he loged in with his own identity.
How do i go about transferring his emails from my identity to his own in Outlook.

I am new to this sort of thing and would really appreciate your help.

Sorry for posting this twice.

I have 3 situations here.

The first is 2 computers newtorked together, old and new.
I want to copy all the old emails/contacts from the old to new, how do I do this?
Other case is this machine is being retired and I want to move the old emails/contacts somewhere temporarily like another hard drive (connected to the same network as case 1), then connect the other new computer to the network via cat 5 that was going to the retired machene, and import the emails and contacts. All computers running Outlook 2002.

3rd is OE on retired machine in case 2, like to transfer my wifes emails/contacts to new machine also running OE?

I tried the import/export function but I'd like to do emails and contacts all at once if I can?
Thanks
Happy New Year everyone!

I can't imagine I can be the only one with this problem !! I have just purchased a new PC running Windows 7 and wanted to inport my backed up emails from Outlook Express which are on a hard drive in .dbx files.
When I go to the drop down list in Windows Live Mail and click Import Messages a box appears and says select the format you want to import emails from and it lists Microsoft OE 6, Windows Live Mail and Windows Mail. I click the OE option and then next then a box about the location of messages appears. I click browse, find where the messages are and click next.A window opens and asks me to select folders and I select All folders (although I have tried a single folder without success) and then click next
A small box opens and I can see the folders being imported. When finished a window opens and says import complete and the messages are in Microsoft OE format
When I go back into Windows Live Mail in the Storage folders there appears a file called Imported Folder but when I open it there is nothing in there.
Mhy question is am I looking in the right place for the imported emails or have I missed something.
I know the emails are on the hard drive and it says it is importing them but I don't know where.........I have looked on the desktop and in a couple of other locations but no joy.
Apparently you can but a prog that opens .dbx files and displays them in an OE style. It is FreeFile Viewer but free it isn't.
Any help appreciated
Steve

Someone I'm doing some work for has got a new computer and are needing their stuff to be transferred over from the old XP machine to the Windows 7 machine. Files weren't a problem, but something weird is happening with his email. He had multiple inboxes setup so their were multiple identity folders to go through. It didn't really matter which you picked for importing because they all get put into a new folder that's called something like "Imported mail 1, 2, 3, etc.". Some of these dbx files for things like inbox and sent are between 20 and 40 MB in size, so there's STUFF in these files, yet after importing all of these the only stuff that shows up is about a dozen or so emails that consist of the last two or three days worth, nothing older.

There is one other thing weird about this. He claimed to have had several additional folders created he would sort emails into... and if that were true, there should have been more dbx files in the identities folders named the same as those folders. They're just not there, or he was actually using something other than Outlook Express. Perhaps it was the Outlook that came with Office? In any case, it doesn't make sense that all of these dbx files, regardless of size, only have within them a handful of emails. Are there any programs out there that are free that I could use to confirm whether or not there is indeed only just those messages in there?

Answer:Importing DBX files from OE into Live Mail only gets last 2 days worth of emails

Does the XP machine boot so you can simply look in OE and see if the messages are displaying?

If not, copy the DBX files to a flash drive (your choice if you want to put them in a folder on the Win7 machines desktop).
Download MiTec Mail Viewer and open the DBX files with it (it will open them right on the flash).
Any messages that are not corrupted will be listed.
You can save them from MailView as EML files that can be dropped into WLM.

To make life simpler, associate the Viewer with DBX files so they will open in the program by double clicking them.
To do that, do the following.

Open the Message Store folder and right click a DBX file.
On the menu, click OPEN WITH.
Click CHOOSE PROGRAM.
Click the BROWSE button.
Locate and select the MailViewer.exe on the desktop (or wherever you downloaded it to).
Place a check in the box next to "Always use the selected program to open this type of file" and click OK.
Double clicking a DBX file should now open it with MailViewer and show what, if any messages it contains.

If MailView isn't showing what you think are ALL the messages that should be there, you can use DBXtract to try recovering them.

I was using a Windows XP desktop and Outlook Express 6 exclusively for my emails. It was set up to do automatic nightly backups of all messages by copying the following folder:

Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{GUID}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Yesterday the hard drive on that XP machine crashed and now I'm trying to set up a new desktop that is running Windows 10 pro.
My main goal is to set up a mail program that will allow to import all of my emails from Outlook Express that also works in a similar fashion. (In other words that Metro mail app that Windows 10 has would not work!)
So I downloaded Windows Live Mail 2012 and went to File -> Import -> Messages -> Outlook Express 6 and specified a copy of the folder above.
Unfortunately when the importing process was done, first of all the inbox was empty. Eventually I was able to find it buried in a storage folder. Well, inconvenient, but OK. But then when I pulled it up, I could not recognize my messages. It seemed like a big chunk of them was missing.
Unfortunately I don't have access to the Outlook Express on a computer that crashed. Instead I had an old copy in a VM that was done back in Sept. 2015. So I did the same exporting process just to test. Here's how the inbox looks like in Outlook Express:

Question: Gmail emails

I just started typing out an email in gmail's web application. I needed to cut or copy the text to Outlook but it wouldn't give me that option. Is there a way to do that or are you stuck once you start with the only option of deleting? I even went to my draft sub folder and it wouldn't let me move the text.

A long time back, all my emails started going into my allmail box instead of my inbox.
Most of the time, that doesn;t bother me. But there are times, when i lose focus on the allmail.
Then I have to try and remember the shortcut to get back to allmail, or to go the sibebar, where Inbox is on top and below that "important" and so on. But to get to allmail, you have to go down to more, and find AllMail as a submenu in that. It might even be necessary to make the browser page smaller, so you can see the More menu.
So is it possible to either (a) get messages to go into inbox, or to bring Allmail up to the top of the sidebar, where Inbox is located.
The second one would be my first choice, as that's where my most of all my emails are ie in allmail.
But if i can only do the first thing ie get messages to appear in my inbox, is there a way to move all mails in my allmail box to my inbox?

update. Okay, after all these years, i have found out that all mail refers to archived mail.
So if all my mail is going into archived mail, does that mean that at one stage, i chose to have all my mail be archived. Perhaps I hit something invaderntly.
I came upon this, because I had another question about Archived mail. I was wondering if I was looking at mail, in all mail, and ticked a post, and chose to archive it, and then deleted it, was it still in the archive. But as I am in the archive (all mail) I am deleting it from the archive, or am I.

Answer:how do i get all my new emails in gmail to go to my inbox?

all mail refers to archived mailClick to expand...

No, All Mail is exactly what it says. Mail in every location: Inbox, any folders you created, archived emails, trash and spam.
There is a label in front of the subject line telling you where that particular email is located.
When you delete from the archive it moves to trash. You will see it in All Mail with Trash in front of the subject.
You can also see it if you open Trash.

Go to settings: (gear icon) then click on labels. If you cahnge All Mail from Hide to Show it will appear at the top rather than having to click the arrow aside of More.

Hello,
I'm trying to move all the old emails in my university OWA to gmail just to keep a record. I already know how to 'forward future incoming emails' using the rule option, but what I'm hoping to do is to move all the old emails that are already in the OWA. Is there anyway that I can do this without forwarding each email one by one ? (I have 300 ish emails!). I just want to keep a copy of all the communications, so either to forward them or to keep them as a file (in whatever format) will do just fine for me.

I have just recently converted from using Windows Live Mail for my email to Gmail. Mainly because there was not an easy way to sync my contacts between WLM and my Android smartphone. Syncing is much better now, but the system differences is taking some getting used to. I notice when I am using Gmail and search for a past email, many times Gmail doesn't find it. I try it searching by contact name, by contact email address, and by subject. Of course, I can scroll back through my old emails and find it manually, but it is frustrating that Gmail cannot spot it quickly. It seems to have the most trouble when I am trying to find a SENT email. Sometimes, one I just sent yesterday. I click on the "Sent Mail" folder and the search box shows "in:sent". I type the info and nothing is found. I have tried it backspacing over the "in:sent", and with leaving the "in:sent" in place before my info. Neither way seems to help. Is there a setting I am missing?

Answer:Searching emails in Gmail

Have you tried clicking the little black arrow next to the blue box with white magnifying glass to show search options??

after this I noticed that some of the newsletter senders keep flooding with lot of emails everyday,
I wanted to return them into the promotions tab,
I tried to practice the same steps - by:
filter message like this >> next >> create filter >>
but this did not work,
I tried this several times but still coming into my inbox directly, and I dont want to block or spam them.
just to redirect into the promotions tab,
Any solution or idea about this ti share here please?

Hello,

I have noticed on many occassions that when people send me an email to our business email account it says something like -

"[email protected] on behalf of Joe Blogs <[email protected]"

How do people do this?

I can see one advantage of doing this because I could use any computer or mobile device to log into my Gmail account and check my business emails. Our current set up would require me to lug around my laptop.

Does this have something to do with the domain mapping options?

Are there any disadvantages to doing it this way? Will the original email still 'live' on our business server so it can be retrieved via Outlook 2010?

Any help or direction would be appreciated!

All the best,

Dave

Hi,Just recently the emails that were going into my WLM account are being redirected

Thanks for any help.

Answer:WLM emails going into my gmail account.

Hello Tommy,

What do you mean by "WLM account" ?
Is this an @hotmail.com, or @outlook.com, or ISP (btinternet), or ... account?
WLM (Windows Live Mail) is a Client (installed on PC) email program and can have many email accounts.
Do you have multiple accounts setup in WLM?
Every email provider I know of also has a WEB site where the user can read/send/manage email.
Are you using WLM for some email, and WEB email for other email?
Each email provider may offer different protocols such as IMAP, POP, MAPI and that can make a difference in what folders are used for a client program such as WLM.

Then there's a "Windows Live account" if that's what you're talking about, and Skype can affect things from what I've read...

Below is a screen print from WLM 2012 showing my "WLM accounts".
I have 2 hotmail accounts here - 1 is MAPI, and 1 is POP...plus a gmail and outlook account...
I mainly use Office Outlook for all my email, but I do use WLM on "test" systems for email that I know I don't need to keep ...

As you said it's a "recent change", can you restore to a point before the problem started?
Do you know what changed to start the problem - Patch Tuesday updates perhaps?

Every once in a while I'll have an email discussion with someone blow up.  All of the emails are open, and they are in backwards order each in indenting a little off from the other one on their left margins, and they form a kind of systematic tree where they branch off of each other systematically.
I can't figure out how to put them back into order, and close them.

After that the gmail thread is totally shot, so I have to begin in another one.
It's done this for years.

Answer:Why does gmail blow up the emails?

You need to post screen shots.   I have never seen Gmail "permanently unthread" a threaded discussion though you can change views.  The relationship is in the e-mail headers themselves and all the e-mail client (or web interface) does is use that information to create a threaded view/conversation view.

Hi,

I have a gmail account that has received emails from paypal, which contain customer email addresses. Since I can't access emails past a month in paypal, it would be ideal if I could get every email address in an email sent by paypal to me and then copy it to a text file. I'd like to use the list for mass mailing product reminders, etc. Before I spend the time to write a script, has anyone heard of software that will do that? Thanks for your help!

If that sounded confusing, I need a script that will search through a specified set of emails, extract every address in those emails, and then copy them to a txt file.

Answer:How can I extract all emails from a Gmail account?

Sorry but this cant be done. At least not by hacing the script go online and search GMail. Now if you use something like Thunderbird, Outlook or Windows Live Mail that stores the mail locally, then you might be able to do something. But AFAIK nothing like this exists.

Answer:help transfering emails from outlook to gmail

I'm not absolutely sure but I doubt very much this can be done.  Think about it.  With Outlook, your mail is on your hard drive, not out on the Internet.  With Gmail, it is out on the Internet; it's web-based mail.  I looked at the info on Gmail on Google's site and, like you, found nothing about transferring mail from Outlook.  So, I no other option but to forward the mail to yourself if you really must get it all moved over to Gmail.

Hello All,

Please suggest me is this is a good idea. I have approx. 10 GB of emails stored in my Gmail account. Since Gmail offer only 15 GB of the free space, I had to create a new account and start using it. How can I transfer emails from Gmail to Yahoo (easy and quick, I already know the MS outlook way - accessing IMAP of both and then transferring from one account to another simply by moving, its time consuming and hangs all time)
Is is okay to transfer to Yahoo! Would I be facing any trouble with it? Like accessing mails. Often seen, yahoo has pathetic user interface and not comfortable to use.
Any other way for email storage, I just wanna free space from my loved Gmail account and continue using it.

Thanks for all help!

I've set up my Gmail account for reading emails via IMAP and sending emails all with Mozilla's Thunderbird. I followed Google's directions on how to setup the client to work with Thunderbird. It reads the emails correctly but when I send emails I get:
"An error occured while sending mail. The mail server responded: INCORRECT DOMAIN IN MAIL/RCPT COMMAND. Please verify that your email address is correct in your Mail preferences and try again."

As it suggests I check the outgoing mail setting and try again with the same results.

Has anyone else run into this issue and how did you resolve it?

Answer:Thunderbird and Gmail, sending emails

Not sure. I remember setting my GMail up for pop, but not IMAP. I would post something over on the Mozilla support forums - more people read that and could help.

I have been trying to follow this guide to get my local emails uploaded onto Gmail:

http://www.zoliblog.com/2007/10/24/simplified-guide-to-importing-all-your-archive-email-into-gmail/

Unfortunately it seems that this guide is for Outlook users, and I use thunderbird. Does anybody know of a way to import local emails from Thunderbird to Gmail?

I've heard of the "Gmail Loader" program, but AFAIK this program will strip the emails of their original send dates. What I'd really like is for a solution where all my local messages can be sent and stored on Gmail, with the original sender information retained, and the original send dates retained. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Import thunderbird emails to Gmail

Here are the instructions from gmail to enable IMAP in thunderbird -> http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77662

Just attach to GMAIL via IMAP and the drag and drop you saved local email to GMAIL through thunderbird.

Make sure you enable IMAP in your GMAIL settings under Settings -> Forwarding and POP/IMAP.

Hi there,

I've recently set my parents up with a Gmail account but am having problems with transferring their emails from an Outlook PST file to their new account. I've tried following the tutorial at the link below without success - mainly due to the fact that Outlook seems to be very unstable on their machine (hence the change to Gmail).

Export and Backup Emails from Outlook to Gmail Online

Are there any other ways of migrating these emails across to their new account? Note that the migration tool offered by Google does not work as the Gmail account isn't connected to Google Apps for Business.

One possible solution is that I could migrate their emails via my Google Apps for Business account though I imagine it would take forever to then forward these emails onto them (most likely manually using the Forward) option?

Cheers,

Andrew

I can't access emails of more than a month old in gmail. I created folders for emails that I wanted to keep, but gmail's inbox states to get messages that are more than one month go to settings. I have gone into settings but I can't get access my emails of over a month. I take screenshots of all emails I want to keep and put them in a file and if I don't I can't access them. How I can file\keep the emails that I want, as there is no facility for me to save. The contents of gmail's inbox folders are then removed after one month.

Answer:gmail cannot access emails of more than a month old

Have you noticed the arrows near the settings image?

I have always used Hotmail with Outlook Express - I can send and receive Hotmail emails from my PC. But now that Microsoft have threatened to withdraw free POP access, I have decided to try GMail.
I have got my GMail working with Outlook Express. I can download all my received emails into a folder on my PC, but I do not appear to be able to download my sent emails.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance for any information you can give.

Answer:Can I Get My Sent GMail Emails into Outlook Express?

Just a thought, send from Outlook Express, just have you Gmail account in the header.

I use Gmail for everything, but no longer have to log into their site - everything comes and goes from the Gmail account.

Evidently, 60 some accounts have been compromised at Gmail - all emails w/in these accounts were 'lost'. One thought is that there was/is a flaw w/in Firefox that allowed XXS to manipulate and then cause harm. While only a very small fraction of Gmail users, this does bring to light at least two points:

1. If it is important to you, backup your email via whatever method you so desire.
2. Technology, time, and evilness in the wrong hands can mess up the 'best' systems; ie: Firefox browser and/or Google's Gmail.

As a result of posting an offer to donate some furniture I no longer needed, I received a response and started to reply. During the time I was working on that reply I received another response. I wanted my reply to only go to the first response, as this was his instructions for collection, but, to my horror, the reply went to the second responder (only) and, judging from the email I then got back from that responder, included both initial responses.
Not only do I have to honour an unintentional offer, but the email address of the first responder has been compromised.
This new streaming concept has very important flaws. Clearly, now clicking reply to you still need to check who the email is going to before you send it, and it looks like you also can't be certain quite what you are sending - perhaps its better to start a new email and cat and paste as required to show what you are responding to.
Is this a case of Gmail trying to be cleaver and just being too clever for OUR own good!
I have posted this also on Gmail, so it will be interesting to see if they respond

Answer:Gmail warning about strems of emails

xania: I'm intrigued. What do you mean by "this new streaming concept"? I'm a heavy user of gmail - have been since it first appeared - but what you're talking about doesn't really make sense to me in terms of the way I use gmail. I've never had a problem such as the one you describe.

For years I have used my own domain email addresses hosted with Gmail for all my email requirements, and have had no problems. My settings with Gmail are such that the message on the server is deleted once it has been accessed via Thunderbird.
One thing confuses me though. If I am away on holiday, I sometimes access my messages directly from Gmail using a tablet, and as most of them are unimportant, I then delete them manually from Gmail and then also delete them from the 'bin' folder. However, when I return home at the end of the holiday and switch on my PC, all the messages are then downloaded to Thunderbird, though I have deleted them previously.
Obviously the reason for accessing them on holiday is to avoid having hundreds of messages when I return home, but clearly I am failing to achieve this. Can somebody please explain why this happens, and how I stop it.

cant i delete all the emails in the spam folder instead of only 100 at a time?

Answer:thousands of emails in gmail spam

Hi

So if you click in the spam folder the link "Delete all spam messages now" it doesnt delete all spam messages?

To be honest if your getting 1000s of spam emails a day/week/month I would be creating a new Gmail account as that one will only keep getting those volumes of spam as its now on many spam email lists, which is why its wise to keep your main email account only for friends and create a sperate one/s for signing upto forums, newletters etc

I primarily use Windows Mail for my work at home job. I also have a Gmail account so I can check for e-mails on my iphone when I'm out. I want to have it set up so that the emails show up in both places, Windows Mail and Gmail.

Currently if my desktop computer is turned off and my Windows Mail program is not open, the incoming emails only go to Gmail and not Windows mail. OR, if my computer is up and running but the Windows mail doesn't happen to be open, the emails only go to Gmail and not Windows Mail. Seems like if my browser (IE8) is open but windows mail is not open, emails will only go to Gmail.

Do I have some settings wrong which would make the emails not show up in Windows Mail?

I am running Windows Vista, 64 bit.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Answer:Emails sometimes go to gmail and not windows mail

Hi lindalo5032,

While researching for this issue, found a link which might help in fixing the issue: Leaving Mail on the Server with Windows Mail | Tiger Technologies Support

Ensure to check the box ?Leave a copy of messages on the server? and uncheck ?Remove from server after? and ?Remove from server when deleted from deleted items?. Click Apply and then OK.

Check if the new messages appear in Windows Mails and Gmail.

Please post the results.
