VGA input to HDMI output adapter

Question: VGA input to HDMI output adapter

I would like to know if this adapter can work from a DVR (security cameras)
I have a 15m VGA cable running from the DVR to a TV, but the VGA port of the TV got lightning damage and now I want to use it's HDMI port, which is undamaged. I found this on ebay: click here
If this one will work, would it need to be powered via it's USB cable ? If yes, can I power it from my computer which is 1meter from the TV ?
Thanks in advance for usable advise.

Preferred Solution: VGA input to HDMI output adapter

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello guys!

I recently ran into a problem with my main LCD TV(I need to replace the power supply.) I use that LCD TV for my desktop computer, and right now all I have is my laptop. I use synergy to control both computers. However now it doesn't matter because I cannot see the desktop portion. Is there anyway for me to output my desktop computer to my laptop monitor?

Both my Desktop and Laptop have HDMI input. I also have the HDMI cord on hand right now I just don't know how I'd go about setting it up. I'd like to use synergy to control the desktop AND have it's output be on the laptop until my power supply arrives and I can fix my TV.

Answer:Solved: Output Desktop HDMI to Laptop (which has HDMI input)

Hope someone can help me here.  Newbie.   My computer geek brother-in-law bought me one of these T61 Thinkpads after my laptop was smashed to smithereens in a small accident.  The problem:  I can't figure out how to connect this thing to the TV to watch movies.  It's got a VGA output, the TV has an HDMI input, there's an adapter I could buy, but strangely the cable is so short, it makes no sense to me.  The cable should be at least 12 inches long to even reach the TV.   What am I missing here?   Can a T61 even accept downloaded video's to watch?   It sounds like from what I've read, I may need to purchase a dock along with the VGA to HDMI adapter.   Is that it?   Any help greatly appreciated.

Answer:Connect T61 VGA output to HDMI HD TV input

Welcome to the forum.
I'm responding to this because no one else has so far, not because I have experience with what you want to do in connecting a T61 to a TV.
First, yes a T61 can play downloaded videos. If for some reason you have problems with playing specific videos I'd suggest you install VLC media player for Windows. This software can play virtually all audio and video formats. It's never let me down.
Now as to connecting the T61 to a TV, there are adapters that go from a USB port on the T61 to an HDMI port on the TV. Here's one example, IMAGE Lenkeng LKV325 USB to HDMI Adapter Converter with 3.5mm Audio Cable. You can buy similar adapters at Best Buy etc. so you might want to bring your T61 to the store and make sure the adapter works before you buy it. In particular you will need to ensure that you have a 3.5mm audio input on your TV (or AV receiver, etc.) If not you'll have to rely on the built-in speaker in the T61 which may not be ideal.
You will also need standard HDMI and 3.5mm audio cables to go from the adapter to the TV. These are available in many lengths, e.g. 3', 6', 10' etc.

On my G30-161 I have an "HDMI" output as well as the analog out. I have started to look for a cable to connect this to the DVI in of a TFT monitor, but seem to be struggling to identify what is the "HDMI" connection end of the cable. Does anyone know the formal classification of the HDMI connector (or a suitable UK supply cable) so I can be sure I buy the right cable?

Many thanks

I have an A530 that will not connect when using the PC input, but the HDMI out port works fine.  So I attempted to connect to an external monitor and it worked.  So I know the actual HDD is working and that the computer is running properly. I then took an HDMI cable and ran it from the HDMI out port to the HDMI in port and the screen is now receiving the signal from the PC. So now I know both the PC and the A530 screen are working. The PC is out of warranty. Any idea why this is happening?  I currently have an HDMI cable connecting the in/out ports and the computer works, but I'd like to go back to it just using the pc and have an available HDMI port.

Answer:Laptop with HDMI Input, but no program to watch the Input

you can try any of the tuner software and see if that works. things like Windows Media Center, XBMC, MediaPortal, GBPVR.

video editing software like Adobe Premiere. the best, easiest, and cheapest bets would be to try the tuner software first.

Windows automatically updated last night before shutting down. When I turned on the computer this morning, the HP w2207h monitor was not functioning properly. Each time I rebooted, I received the message "HDMI Input: No Input Signal" before the monitor went to sleep.

I do not believe it is a problem with the sleep and display settings as I have dual monitors and the EN9910 is functioning properly; both are set to NEVER anyway. Further, I have plugged our SONY television into the HDMI port and it works just fine.

I have also plugged the monitor into another computer, using the same cable, and both worked just fine. The hp monitor also functions in the utility mode. Problem seems to exist only when Starting Windows.

This has happened once before with a Windows Update, but I don't recall the solution.

Please help.

Hello and welcome aspen can you just make sure the driver for that monitor is ok.

Software & Driver Downloads HP w2207h 22 inch LCD Monitor | HP? Support

But mate I also think you may have answered it yourself in another way. Can you remember when this started happening? If so system restore back to before that date.

Then it is just a matter of downloading any updates if this is what is - one or two at a time until you find which one is the culprit. Make a not of that one and each time it comes up untick it to download / install.

GA-890GPA-UD3H (rev. 3.1)

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3+ - GA-890GPA-UD3H (rev. 3.1)

(Note 3) Simultaneous output for DVI-D and HDMI is not supported.

What I'm trying to do is output just my sound to the receiver via HDMI cable, but still use the DVI to my monitor for video. From the note above taken from the MB specs, sounds like this is not possible.

This is new business to me and wondering how others do this, seems little information I can find. I am ordering a HDMI to DVI cable so I can disconnect the DVI cable from the computer and instead run both video and sound through HDMI to the receiver, then the video to the monitor. Hoping this works.

If all fails then I am relegated to separate digital through S/PDIF optical link, to my receiver. According to the experts this is less than ideal since now, the multi-channel dolby and DTS signals can only be received via HDMI.

Wondering if I get a Blu-ray player for my computer how this is going to all work out. Hoping that HDMI to DVI cable does the trick.

Anyone with experience with this kind of set-up and the aforementioned hardware greatly appreciated.

And Happy NEW YEAR!

Answer:Gigabyte HDMI output to Yamaha receiver - no sound output

As you have a separate video card, its capabilities should determine how the video works, not the motherboard. The video is routed to the video card.

If you had some type of integrated Video on the motherboard then the motherboard's specs would apply. For example, I have an Intel i7 3770 CPU and this model has built in Intel HD4000 video which is routed to motherboard video connectors and thus the motherboard would determine how the video is distributed. However, I'm using a separate video card and thus that determines how video is distributed.

I followed the instructions in the manual regarding directing sound to the HDMI output.
However when I go to the Sound control panel there is no Digital Output Device (HDMI) listed only the Conexant Speaker and SPDIF outputs.
I tried the SPDIF output as the default, that didn't work.
The HDMI is working just fine for the picture but the lack of sound through it is driving me nuts.

I'm running VISTA (fully updated) on a U400-145

Anyone any ideas how I can get the HDMI output to show up as an option?

Answer:Re: Satellite U400-145: HDMI Output no option to select HDMI as default

Go to Control Panel -> Sound -> Playback tab
There you have to click right.
Then mark the options; ?Show all disabled devices?
Then you should see the HDMI.
Now you could enable it and chose as default.

Hi, I just got an Ideapad Y560 with Windows 7 64 bit and out of the box the sound doesn't work when I connect the laptop to my TV using an HDMI cable.  I went to Control Panel - Sound, and immediately I got the popup message:Windows has detected that audio enhancements for the following device are causing problems:Realtek HDMI Output (ATI HDMI Audio)Would you like to disable Driver Enhancements for this device? So, I'm guessing that the driver enhancements are the problem, but what should I do next, diable the driver enhancements, install an updated driver, or something else? I don't know what a driver enhancement is. My goal is to get sound through the TV when I plug in the HDMI cable and then have the PC switch back to internal speakers when I detatch the HDMI cable, which is what it should be doing in the first place. Thanks for your help

Answer:No sound over HDMI cable - might be Realtek HDMI Output issue

I tried disabling the driver enhancements.  That didn't seem to do anything.  The Realtek HDMI option is present in Sounds in the Control Panel, but the sound level meter doesn't show any activity, even when the HDMI cable is plugged in.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

I'm trying to hook up my TV with my computer, and for the most part it's working. The video goes through and I get how to control it and everything. The only thing not working is the sound.

I'm using an HDMI to HDMI cable, and like I said the video is fine. Also, when the cable is plugged into my boyfriend's laptop, the sound comes out of the TV.

So this must mean the problem is with my computer specifically. Although, this computer is only a month old, so I wouldn't think anything is out of date.

I have no idea what's relevant, so I don't know what to post screenshots of, but I've read tons of other threads with the same issues but none of their solutions seem to work for me.

Answer:Realtek HDMI Output ATI HDMI Audio -Not Plugged In-

Info on your computer would help. We can only talk in generalites or suggestions without it. In most cases, if you have a full HDMI port with both audio and video, when you plug in an HDMI cable Windows changes the default audio playback device from the "Speakers" (your PC sound card) to "HDMI".

In your case the ATI (now called AMD) should be the device that is feeding the video and audio.

As your PC is only 1 month old, the PC vendor's tech support should be the ones to call since you haven't been able to find a solution to date.

Good afternoon I have a problem with the VGA output of my laptop Toshiba Satellite L500

Using the HDMI output I have no problem to connect to any TV.
The fact is that when I use the VGA output having the laptop on the side, on TV I get colored vertical stripes similar to a letter setting ....

Here I leave a picture of what appears to me to connect the VGA output of my laptop to a TV:

tried another laptop to my TV and looks great, ..
then ...
Am I missing some driver ... do not you think?
Why is my HDMI works perfectly but my VGA displays vertical colored lines? ..
Not to do ...
This is hopeless ... I need the VGA output of my laptop toshiba l500 to work.

Greetings from Spain.

Answer:Satellite L500 -HDMI video output works fine but VGA video output don't

Maybe stupid question at the beginning but why do you need VGA connection if HDMI works perfectly? I mean using HDMI you will have better pic quality and also sound will be transferred to the TV.
Using VGA only video signal will be send to the TV.

Anyway, I don?t know which driver do you use. Is your notebook preinstalled with original OS that you got with your notebook?
Do you use ?TV only option? when this happen?

So eagerly i tought to buy this cool looking laptop for a huge $2000 i needed it to output to a hdmi monitor ot TV so sometimes i could see movies as well, now i had to buy the special DA200 dell adaptor and in the past 3 weeks it`s been a complete nightmare, i WAS NEVER ABLE to make it work permanently. The chat support was no help at all usually simply resuming to try and replace the part but i do think the part is good and i didn't feel like waiting 2 weeks for it to ship from china.

The ethernet and usb work on the DA200 adaptor , EXCEPT HDMI.  SOMETIMES it would work briefly until next restart, i had tried everything ever available on the internet. The laptop is running Windows 10 (as it`s restricted to that version, i tried to install other versions with lots of issues and compatibility issues) so  i have installed reinstalled and installed different versions of the video driver for all possible windowses and none worked. what did work was very brief until next restart and that usually happened when i had a fresh windows install, after the first restart i will get a non working hdmi again.

I have tried several hdmi cables so i know it`s not the hdmi cable or the tv ot the monitor. and nobody seems to be able to help!!

Question: input to output

I have a speech error, and I had an idea that I could connect the audio output to the input. That way, I could use a speech synthesizer with Skype. I could also play music for my friends. The easiest way to do this is of course a wire, but I was wondering if this could be done from windows.

Answer:input to output

Hello Thomas, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Not knowing which audio devices you have, I can not tell you which device you have to choose, but in my opinion this can be done from Skype Audio Settings.

An example from my laptop with IDT Audio chip. I can select one of these devices:

Selecting Stereo Mix in my case sends the signal from mic when it is connected but when mic is not connected, it sends whatever sound I'm currently playing, for instance WMP, WMC or speech synthesizer.

With an image it's diffult to show audio but I'll try: screenshot below shows (green signal strength bar) Skype is getting an audio signal to send. All mics currently disconnected, that signal comes from a YouTube video I'm watching, so if I now had a Skype chat with you, you would receive and hear what I'm listening now.

I was wondering how I would be able to do something like this. I have a 8800 GTS that have DVI-I outputs and I wanted to pick up a monitor that has a DVI-D input. I know the difference between the DVI-D and the DVI-I is that the DVI-I has 4 pins surrounding the flat blade (28 pins compared to 24 pins).

Is there anyway I can get them to connect with each other or is this totally incompatible? Special cable, etc?

Answer:DVI-I output to DVI-D input

The extra pins contain the analog signal, which is not used by the DVI-D monitor.

Just because the video card has the pins avaiable does not mean they have to be used, when the monitor only needs the digital signal.

Hello, I would love to ask for some help!
I've recently purchased the newer Dell XPS 13 9360 Non-touch (not the 2 in 1) and am having some trouble with using an external monitor. The screen (on the external monitor) keeps on flickering and has a very unstable connection.
I've searched and found that apparently lowering the power output of the WIFI network adapter can fix this problem.
The problem is that the current XPS's wifi adapter doesn't allow the power output to be changed. The previous fixes were geared towards intel wifi adapters.
The general power settings for the computers doesn't show wifi card power controls.

I have updated all the drivers for the computer including the wireless adapter. Still the options doesn't change.

Has anyone found a way to get a stable external monitor to work with the Killer Wireless Adapter cards?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:XPS 13 9360 External Monitor Flicker with USB C - HDMI Adapter [Killer Wireless Adapter]

For what it's worth: For me (XPS 13 9360, QHD, i7, 16 GB, Killer WiFi), external screens are perfectly stable, even with wireless being on relatively high throughput load, albeit not high power (energy) load.
I am connecting both HDMI and DisplayPort displays, each with cheap native USB-C adapters (i.e. through Thunderbolt). I also have full success with a Dell DA200, through its built-in HDMI graphics adapter.

Hello Community, I recently purchased the x230T and am finding it rather useful (apart from the trackpad thingy). What confuses me is that I have all these ports and no idea what they are actually used for!   1 Display port w/ audio1 4-in-1 SD Card Reader (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC slot)1 Express Card 54mm1 Smart Card ReaderThey are all probably rather useful so if anyone can give me insight into their function it would be appreciated.

Answer:Input/Output Port Uses

The display port (output) can connect to an external screen. For some screens, you may need a simple display port-> HDMI adapter. The card reader (input or output) can read memory cards, like the ones used in digital cameras. The express card can be used for expansion cards. I carry cards for eSATA and I have one with a serial (legacy) port needed to communicate with a chip reader I use. I don't use smart cards, but they are more common in Europe than they are in U.S. or Australia.

On opening realtek audio manager and playing auto test, Nothing plays, and going to control Panel -> Sound, and playing the test tone, I get this error:
Just as an additional info, I reinstalled AVG Internet Security 14 yesterday, and probably the audio was working till then. Once AVG was installed and the system got restarted, a system Update was triggered automatically, if that has got anything to do with my problem.

P.S. I could not use system restore as well, I get the following error:

Also, I come to know by googling that The Audio and System restore problems come in combos frequently.

Answer:No audio input and output

Do you have any audio listed in the device manager, other than RealTek, and possibly an HDMI audio (if your system has that capability)? If there are other audio entries, such as "HD Audio Codec" uninstall those as they can conflict with the actual sound device (RealTek).

An uninstall/reinstall if the sound device will fix any Windows corruptions, and MAY fix your audio problem. In the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the RealTek to highlight it and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT uninstall the driver. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound.

AVG is on the list of Antivirus programs that potentially can interfere with Audio. I have a recording studio, using Sonar X3 recording software, and AVG is listed as one to avoid. For that reason (and that it works), I only use the built in (built in to Windows 8) Windows Defender (is called Microsoft Security Essentials in XP, Vista and Win 7).

I purchased 2400 Mhz RAM, and the computer worked, but MSI 970 board didn't support the higher speed. I switched back to 1600, now I have no input or output (the screen shows nothing, the light on the keyboard doesn't turn on). I tried switching back to 2400 Mhz, and back to the 1600 Mgz, and repeatedly pressing delete (the BIOS key), I still can't use the computer at all. I didn't change anything but the RAM, what can I do to get my computer working again?

my new dell lcd monitor have been plugged to my new dell pc with a geforce 8300GS via the dvi port and worked for 3 months until yesterday, when i turn on my pc again, nothing but the message (red green blue) shows up, but when plugged to the usual blue port, the monitor works.

I've taken myself the challenge I've been avoiding for some time, creating a plattform for connecting a radio to your computer through the USB port.

So basicly I need to know if there is anyone here with any knowledge in this field who wants to answer a few questions, or if there is anyone who knows where to direct those questions...

The most important question would be how the signal has to be converted to be put through the USB connection. Followed by how to create the drivers needed to get the computer to understand these signals as soundsignals.

I'd greatly appreacitate any help, as I'm guessing it's not anything usual I'm asking about

Answer:input and output for USB devices

My question would be, what are you trying to do? Are you trying to record the radio output into the computer?

USB connections are for Hardware. So you're saying that you want a radio to become a piece of hardware? Could you clarify?

Does anyone know if there's a way to set your computer's audio output as your recording input without the use of an external cable? I'm using XP pro.

Answer:Audio output to input?

What are you trying to do exactly? There may be a application that can help you along.

But to answer your question no. You can not use a output as a input. Unless you put the audio output to a reciever input.

Hi I currently have a Fenton 1000 UPS which i use to connect my pc & TFT monitor, i have installed the UPSILON 2000 monitoring program which is used to monitor the UPS.
Now my problem is that the monitoring program is reading that the input voltage is 250V & the output Voltage is also 250V, shouldn't it be adjusted to at least a voltage lower than 250V automatically by the UPS itself?

Thanks for any help.

Answer:UPS Input & Output voltage are the same

I hard a hard time deciding where to put this thread, none the less here it goes:

I used to have a very advanced audigy system that had front ports for pro mics and stuff. when plugged in it turned my speakers into a PA system basically with studio quality. I was then able to play tracks of recorded songs by my band and add vocals to them with almost no software at all and it sounded brilliant.

That PC cost me 4,000 to build and I by no means can replicate that. I now have a spdif plug mic with a nice hd sound card, adobe audition 3, and the hope I may be able to make this work. Can anyone offer me any solutions whether they be 3rd party of plugins to my current software?

Much appreciation!

I have had a bad hair day!!!I meant Output not iInput in my previous posting!!So here it is again.I have a three year old Asus A6000VM laptop which came with Windows XP and just reformatted the hard drive and installed Vista Business. No problems and all fine except that I get the message above and have no sound. The Microsoft driver is recognised in Device Manager (with an exclamation mark) and, in the General tab, status is cannot start (Code 10).I have tried disabling and un-installing and re-starting from both sleep and shut down mode but no success.I have also down loaded the Realtek AC'97 driver for Vista. This is now shown in Programs and Features in Control Panel but will not load up even if I block the Microsoft driver from starting .Does anyone have any ideas? All thoughts gratefully received!Roger

Answer:"No Audio Output (not Input as I said before)

Realtek drivers have a habit of leaving bits behind when an install goes wrong so I'd suggest you start out with Driver Sweeper to tidy things up: click hereThen download the latest drivers from the Realtek website (I think you have a HD rather than plain AC97 chipset): click hereDo not let Windows install anything but run setup from the driver package. It may then work directly or you may have to reboot and let windows 'find' the drivers that Realtek setup just tried to install. What is on the ASUS website is fairly old - if these drivers worked with Vista they're really unlikely to work with SP1 !Good luck, JimF

I'm trying to record audio from a device by using a 3.5mm cable to connect its output to the (only) audio jack on my laptop, because that's supposed to work. However, Realtek drivers still can't correctly sort audio devices. It doesn't see the device as an audio input. Since it shows any output as internal speakers, I have no way to tell. I set it to separate all audio devices, but that only seems to affect the microphone section. Is there a way to make it pick up the audio as an input? My Realtek driver seems to be less cooperative than others, but there must be something I can do. Device: Flex 3-1580 (trying to get audio from a 3DS)OS: Windows 10, latest updateDriver: Realtek, update (latest Windows could find)

Hi, I've updated my prime workstation from XP to 7 (was told to avoid Vista because I use my workstations for pro audio and midi).

I use this new worstation for wave-editing only so I thought that I could use the onboard soundcard, but... I can not record anything from the stereomix!

I have activated the stereomix function and tried to set it as the default recording device, but it is simply not delevering any output - or to be more precise: it looks like it's not getting any input, because in the Windows mixer there is no reaction in the stereomix strip like no sound is being routed to the stereomix.

Trying to record in applications like Wavelab, Audacity or mp3mymp3 with the stereomix as input gain only give the delicate sound of silence...

Can anybody help?
I have looked other threads in this forum, but have not found any solution...

Hello everybody,

I hope everybody is doing all right and much better than me.

I wanted to ask something about audio.
How can I make the sound coming from my speakers like they are coming from microphone?
I guess you could say that how can make output coming like input?
I want to add a video entry to a journal, I can add the video, but I want the sound from the video added to the entry too.
I couldn't find a way to do that because it only records the sounds from microphones.
Another question would be how can make a song on my computer recorded as an audio journal?
What are the ways to do that?

Answer:Showing Output Sound as Input

I don't mind saying I'm confused. Where is the video coming from and where/what is the journal method of recording? Seems to me you could use Windows Live Movie Maker. As far as an audio journal, the Sound Recorder under Accessories should to it. You'll need a microphone plugged in and make sure it's assigned as a recording device.

For about 4 months my PC has been telling me that no speakers or headphones are plugged in even though i have connected speakers or headphones (Tried both). It also does not recognize my microphone when i connect it. I have updated my audio drivers several times with no success.I have tried both the front ,and back sockets and neither would work. I have recently installed windows 10 thinking that would help but the audio is exactly the same. At the moment i am using a USB headset and that is the only way i can have sound maybe because it uses a separate driver. But any way i want to be able to use my speakers and my good headphones again. This is a huge deal for me as i produce music and i want to be able to hear sound.

Answer:Computer does not recognize input or output

First you need, at a minimum Windows 8.1 sound drivers. However, as it didn't work in Win 8.1, and upgrading didn't help it may take a full "clean" install of the OS.

Without getting deep into troubleshooting, we have a sister Windows 10 forum and as this is a Windows 10 problem (now since 10 is installed) we ask that you post on the ten forum www.tenforums.,com

I am looking for way to redirect audio from output (speakers) to input (mic) so that windows would think it's microphone. Actually I want to to be able to send sound to 2 devices at once 1 would be speakers so I can hears the sound and other device would be microphone so software that works with mic can hear that sound at once.

For example:
By redirecting audio output to microphone I would be able to stream sound trough msn/skype.

I heard it's easy with linux, but what about windows?

Edit I found Control Panel > Sound > Recording Enabling stereo mix does what I am looking for, but thing is that when my speakers sound volume is set to 50% then recording's sound volume will be 50% too. Is it possible listen sound at 50% but have a recording with 100% like set set sereo mix volume to 200%?

Or is there any tool to grab audio by process? like redirect everything from vlc to mic.

I searched for this same problembut didn't see any threads.

I found a file on my computer called "fldrscan.out" in the same folder as some Notepad files with the word Search in the titles. I looked around and noticed the time and date it was created corresponded to one of the times a former friend was on my computer.

It seems the Notepad files run every hour or at least when I close my RealPlayer music playing software. Or both!

Is someone scanning my files and extracting them somewhere? I really want to get rid of this file, I think it's clearing out my video and music projects. Please tell me if and how I can delete.

Thank you

BUT, I have 2 separate outputs for a microphone and audio. Is it possible that I can use my earbuds/headphones that have a mic on them? Help much appreciated!

So I was in a game and was in the main menu when i noticed the screen would flicker randomly when i moved my mouse, and would periodically go dark followed by a sudden complete black screen. At that point the computer could still give some audio off, no video, and didn't take any commands from either mouse or keyboard. I opted to restart my pc, but now the pc only turns on and makes the usual whirring and fan spinning noises, but does very little else. It wont respond to any mouse/keyboard inputs, (mouse and keyboards lights don't even glow), monitor gets no signal no matter what, and the pc doesnt even make the beep that it usually makes when booting up.
I have no idea what to do to fix this, and my only guess on what the issue might be is that it was a voltage issue, as there was a power cut soon after.

I have a problem caused I think by drivers being deleted from the machine. I cannot input/output using the external floppy, external CD Rom, or USB port.

How can I install new drivers without internet access?

Answer:Portege 3490CT - input/output

Hi Thom,

If you have isolated your notebook from all your available i/o devices, then your only way of restoring access will be to restore your entire operating system from your recovery discs.

However, before doing something this drastic, you could try to boot into safe mode to see if this will allow you to access your external devices, or you could try to restore your system to an earlier restore point (assuming you are running XP) before your drivers got deleted.

Hi everyone,
last night, I decided to sleep my computer instead of shutting it down (I've never had any problems with this feature in previous versions of windows). I went to wake it up this morning and it didn't respond to any mouse movement or the keyboard. I didn't have anything running that was important, so I held down the power button and rebooted; still no display on my monitors. I tried shutting down and unplugging the psu and left it for around 30 mins. Still nothing when I tried to reboot. I can hear the computer running. Hard drives work, fans are on and the gpu is running as well. I've tried resetting the RAM, booting with just one RAM stick and removing the battery for 10 seconds as well but no matter what I try, I can't get any display on the monitor and I can't input anything either. The keyboard and mouse aren't even getting power from the usb ports. My guess is that all the ports on my mobo are "asleep" and will stay that way until I change the wake settings in BIOS. The only problem is, I can't go into BIOS! Does anyone have any ideas? Any insight is much appreciated.
Also, please note that the motherboard and ram were opened about a month ago with no issues at all to date.

Apologies if this had been solved before, had a look through the topics but couldn't find an answer.

My speaker output is going directly to my mic input and its getting very annoying and everyone complains in game that they can hear everything through my mic and when they speak they get really bad echoing.

I know its not a teamspeak issue as trawling around the net looking for an answer has shown that others using ventrillo have had the same problem. It doesn't seem to be confined to one sound card either. I'm using the realtek AC'97 driver for the onboard sound.

I've been through all the audio settings i can find but nothing works.

'Listen to this device' is not ticked in the mic's properties.
In playback properties mic input is turned down to zero

Please please please can someone help me as i can't find a solution to this anywhere!

Answer:Speaker output going directly to mic input

Ahhh. . . Teamspeak. It's been years since my friends and I maxed ourselves out on Soldier of Fortune, oh the memories.

I do remember that happening as well because I was using a standalone mic with speakers. I think before I moved to a headset I tried applying some kind of sensitivity level to the mic in Teamspeak and/or in Windows. I haven't used a mic in a long time, though.

Yeah, I believe if you "listen to" something you'll get either a huge feedback or a definate echo if not used correctly.

Just noticed you said

In playback properties mic input is turned down to zero

I'd imagine if you practically 'disable' your mic, no one could possibly hear anything through the mic, therefore no echo. There is an option on the "Enhancements" tab called "Aucoustic Echo Cancellation", did you try that? Maybe a mixture of settings in Windows and Teamspeak together will help out.

Hi there TSG, I'd like you to give me a little hand on here.

See, I use both speakers and headphones to listen to music in mi pc. Sometimes I use the former, sometimes the later. I don't have a front audio panel, so changing the plugs it's annoying, gotta move too many things. At first I used an audio splitter, but it's quality its utterly horrid, and I've tried like 3 kinds.

My board, an ECS with Realtek ALC662 has the typical 3 conectors, Audio Input, Audio Output n Mic Input. The software driver allows to arrange the streams to have output trough the inputs for a mirrored 2 speakers, 4 speakers and 5.1 speakers sound system. So, instead of the splitter, I use the software to mirror the output through the audio input. So far so good, but the problem is everytime I reboot the PC, the config gets lost, and I have to unplug and plug the input plug for the software to ask me what I wanna do with that stream [make an output, plz] So, it's the same as just switching and the idea is to avoid it.

Sooooo, I wonder, does anybody knows for a program that could mirror the output through the input? Or maybe, does know how the software driver works for making the changes without having to unplug and plug for the software to ask? maybe it changes something in the registry or maybe sets an option in a file...
Any kind of help is always welcomed :] Thks in advance.

I have a project I'm working on. I am trying to create a batch file that will type a series of text files chosen based on user input. For instance, it will display file #1, then ask the user to decide whether to then display file #3 or #4, and from one of those files whether to display, for instance, file #2 or #8 and so on. Dos, even the command line that is a component of vista doesn't seem to be designed to do this, but even so it seems to me that it would be the easiest way, shourt of breaking out the C++ book.

I'm trying to connect my guitar to my computer through the integrated microphone/speaker jack on the right side of the x220.  When I do, however, it detects that a new playback device is plugged in, rather than a recording one.  The recording device labeled right-side 3.55mm jack remains listed as "disconnected." I've tried reinstalling the audio drivers, updating, and restarting but nothing seems to fix this problem.

Answer:Plugging a guitar into the mic input detects it as an output.

The combo jack only supports certain headsets and headphones. Conventional microphones are not supported, but it might work with a splitter. Read the user guide.

Hello there redruuum, and welcome to TEAM TSG...

Can you remove the modem, and then boot to "Safe Mode Command Prompt" ( I think you press the F8 key when you see the message " Starting Windows 98 ) then run scanreg/restore and restore it to a date before you made the changes ??

If this will let the sound work, move the modem to a different PCI slot, and see if the conflict goes away...

Hello everyone,

I want to know if you can run an audio output and input at the same time to record to my HDD with the built in Win7 SoundRecorder?

I have been trying to record (unsuccessfully) streaming Sirius internet radio using my JRivers MC v17, and while it will record, the resultant file will not play, either with MC or WMP. And the file size is always 4kb, no matter how long i record for.

So i found Audacity software which will let you do this:

But i want to know if you can do it with the installed SoundRecorder. Now I should say that i will be using the output from my Audioquest Dragonfly DAC, which is installed via a USB port, not the lime green output. I will unplug my powered Mackie monitors and hook up a small 3.5mm patch cable.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Answer:Can you use the audio output and input jack at the same time?

You have RealTek PC audio. Have the "Stereo Mix" set as the default recording device and you will be able to directly record streaming audio with Audacity. Nothing else is needed.

You can probably do it with all the extra equipment, but its not needed and can really get in the way for recording streaming internet audio.

I have Goldwave and use that for the same thing, but Audacity will record from the Stereo Mix so that's all you need.

I really hope somebody can help because this is driving me nuts. I am quite the online gamer, but I've run into an issue that I will preface.

I recently had to format my hard drive and re-install windows. Since re-installing the OS, I have not been able to get my headset (Turtle Beach X11) to work properly. My mic works fine, and my headphones are also fine. However, it seems that my Speaker Output is also acting as my Mic Input...does that make sense?

Basically, my buddies can hear me just fine over Steam....but all the sounds that my computer plays (music, game sounds, videos, etc...) get played through not only my headphones to me - but apparently through my mic as well, and they hear it as if I am broadcasting it, or literally playing it through my mic.

I turned down and muted my "Wave" volume in my Sound Properties, and it solved the problem, but at the cost of me losing all sound as well (which makes sense) I guess thats not really solving anything.

I believe I have had this problem in the past, but with a different motherboard and different sound card/drivers (all have always been on board).

Another thing that seems confusing is that my mic appears to be being controlled by "Realtek Audio Output" underneath the name "Rear Pink In". My Mic controls are grayed out with no advanced options, only the mute/unmute checkbox. The "Rear Pink In" does have the advanced settings option, along with being able to control the sl... Answer:Solved: Speaker output acting as Mic Input

Pretty sure i actually just figured it seems so far that all I had to do was mute "Stereo Mix"....about to find out on L4D2 and I cannot possibly describe how thrilled I am.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether or not a product exists that converts video signals from different sources (USB, HDMI, Component, S-Vid) to a similar set of outputs? If so, could someone please point me in the right direction? If not, what would be my best option? I know there are many converter boxes that go from S-Video/Component to HDMI, however my company has not upgraded our systems to be HMDI compatible just yet. Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Answer:Multiple Input/Output Video Converter

What do you want and what do you have available. There are DVI to HDMI adapters.

Hello everyone

I'm having a problem with my DVD burner... actually I've had it for almost two years now, but I only decided that enough is enough with this thing and I want to find a solution for it.

The long and short of it is this. Whenever I try to burn something on my DVD, it fails at the end and gives me an 'input/output' error and ejects the DVD. I have no idea why this happens. I should note that my DVD drive is fine otherwise, it can play DVDs and CDs without any problem. If anyone needs any additional information, I even saved the log-file that the my DVD burning software saved after it was finished.

Can anyone lend a hand? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Input/output error when burning DVDs

What software are you using? Try CDBurnerXP, it's free.
Also, try a different manufacturers DVD's.
And you could look for a firmware update for the drive.

Hello, I'm asking this because I want to play a song for someone I speak to in good quality over the internet and using a mic seems to have low quality playing out of speakers. Thanks

Answer:Program that makes sound output into input?

Virtual Audio Cable can route sound streams from the output of one program to the input of another.

Be aware though that if you're using some sort of voice over IP (skype, teamspeak, netmeeting, etc), your microphone may not be the only factor in the poor sound quality. Most VoIP software reduces the audio quality well below that of music quality in order to reduce bandwidth. So even if the above link works, it's not going to be cd quality.

I'm going to assume this is a hardware problem. I'll start from the beginning. I plugged in my cell phone via a USB cord to transfer some stuff to it, and everything on my computer froze. My keyboards backlight turned off and my mouse wouldn't respond. Nothing was doing anything.

I shut down my computer using the power button on the front. It started booting up, I could hear the fans and the hard drive, but nothing turned on. The keyboard stayed unlit and the monitor didn't even come on. It's like nothing is getting any power. I'm starting to freak out a little bit....

I'm running Windows XP Home dual booted with Ubuntu Hardy, Dell Dimension 3000, 2.8Ghz P4 processor, 2GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9250.

Any idea what's going on? Any help is much appreciated.

Hello to everybody,I have this wonderful laptop Lenovo Y570 for maybe 2 years now and in the past few weeks I'm experience difficulties with it. When I would like to put headphones or maybe something to listen music the audio receptacle is not detecting that I have put the headphones and it continues to play music from the laptop speakers. I've tried to uninstall the driver and put it back on but the problem is still on. I've tried to system restore from my disks but the OneKey Recovery doesn't work as well. I hope someone could help me asap. Thank you

Answer:Problem with Y570 Audio input/output

Hi dementtor,
Welcome to Lenovo Community
Does this happened with other earphones?
Can you try Uninstalling the audio driver from Device Manager.
And after Uninstalling (without installing the drivers back) restart the system and re open Device Manager see if a Generic Driver will be installed,
It should be back under sound and game controller then check if you have sound from the speakers.
try using your headphones see if this will work.
If you have audio from speakers and still earphone does not switch the sound. I believe the Jack Headphones is having issue. and service might be needed for the jack

I have never even thought to ask this question until now. Hope it's not a stupid one

I would like to use a standard USB KVM switch to connect two laptops, using one of them for the display apparatus. Has anyone here ever done this, or is it even possible?

My thought was to connect the second laptop as intended with the KVM switch cables, then connect only the USB input cable to the KVM to the first laptop where I want to display. Then, if my logic is correct, I would connect the KVM switch video out to the VGA on the 1st laptop....

Answer:Solved: is my Laptop built in VGA for Output & Input?

the VGA is output NOT input on laptops - to connect to screens and projectors - toggled on/off by one of the F keys

I'm having a strange and frustrating issue with my Creative Labs Fatal1ty Gaming Headset; it has recently begun recording the sound my desktop makes (output) instead of my voice (input).

I've tried everything to get this to work, but nothing seems to be going correctly.

My jacks are plugged in correctly.

Also, I recently updated my Realtek drivers (in an attempt to fix this issue), but now it doesn't show up properly on my computer. (Edit: The Realtek issue has been fixed, but my microphone is still only recording desktop noise instead of my voice.)

Answer:Issue: Microphone recording output, not input..

I'm going to try and reorganize this for people looking. My original post is lacking in details.

My microphone is not recording input at all. In fact, the only thing it IS recording is my stereo input (aka, what I hear from my earphones).

A day ago it was working properly, and then I attempted to stream my gameplay using's Procaster program. I THINK this is when things messed up, as afterwards when I attempt to speak to someone through voice chat I am instead just telling them whatever I'm hearing at the moment.

I've thoroughly inspected my Control Panel settings and checked what's up with the microphone - I have four items there under the recording tab when managing my audio devices: "Internal AUX Jack", "Mic in the rear panel (Pink)", "Microphone (my laptop's internal microphone)", and "Stereo Mix". The odd thing I've noticed is that the volume bar for "Mic in the rear panel" goes up and down in tune with what I'm hearing. So far, fiddling with the options here does nothing.

I use Realtek HD Audio Manager and have updated it to the highest driver versions. I've checked the settings for this and am unable to find anything that can help me.

Hello there everyone.

My current computer specs are located in my signature. Ive bee thinking about this for a while, but is it possable to somehow change an S-VIDEO output on a graphics card to an input? Im assuming everything is output on my card atm but I would like to try and hook up my nintendo Wii to my LCD monitor. I have an adapter which converts YPbPr to s-video cable so I can hook it up to the graphics card. I know there are VGA-YPbPr converter out there but i dont have the money atm lol... Basically is there a way to somehow configure the graphics card so that it can view my wii? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading

Answer:Graphics card -- Change output to input?

I'm gonna go with no.

The way I imagine it the wiring could be adapted and re-soldered to the board to allow it, but the chip would still not know what to do with the signal, and it would probably fry.

If anyone knows anything I don't here I'd love to hear it, but it sounds grim to me.

Easier would probably;y be a modulator to use from the Wii to the monitor.

I've used a headphone/mike combo that came with my Dragon software and has an input and an output jack with my HP Pavilion laptop and the microphone jack works just fine and Dragon types out the words I say just fine, but.... when I try to use this mike headset in Windows Movie Maker to record my narration and my video at the same time, the mike doesn't work and there is no sound at all in the video. I also tried using the mike directly with the camera in record mode, but it still doesn't record a sound. Movie maker has a better picture so Iprefer to use it, but what kind of mike will give me the input I need. Hope it 's cheap - can't afford much.  Wish I could get my headphones to work - works well in Dragon.

the realtek high definition audio output (and input) is/are not working. i have no idea why. i have tried installing the realtek high definition codec from and it has failed several times. the message "Install realtek hd audio driver failure error code: 0x00000103" comes up in the middle of the setup. please, i really need my audio output jack to work. should i uninstall the realtek high definition audio driver and then reinstall it? HELP!!!!

Answer:audio output/input jacks are not working

Hi litldrummerboy and welcome to Vista Forums

We need some more information about your system as we need to ascertain that you do have a Realtek codec installed on your motherboard. If it is Realtek, then see here for the latest driver information: Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version Save the file to your computer and then run the install from there. Don't try to run it as you download it (especially with their download speeds).

Question: LCD HDMI input

Old puter, evga GTX 8800 SC, driver ????
New puter, evga GTX 260 SC, 2 paired in SLI, driver 196.xxxx ????

Old puter works with my LCD's input much better than new one. Old puter was on the LCD's PC input and the HDMI input, multi-monitor mode and worked pretty good. Now its connected to a CRT monitor and the RGB input via the vid cards S-video output. Fabulous HDTV picture since I figured out the adjustments, looks even nicer than when connected to HDMI input. Game works and loads fine.

New puter will only function properly with only the PC input. Full native res, nice pic but not the HDTV definition. When I add the HDMI input to do multi-monitors I do not get anything like with old puter. No desktop resize available for HDMI. Interferes with the PC input, 1080i drops to 30Hz refresh. 720p needs desktop resize, allowed only a very odd res that fits screen at 60Hz. Very unstable and will not load game.

Nvidia drivers and a Sony Bravia 40" LCD. Newer puter is HDCP and will not function as good as old, why? I should have no issues, new puter is way better than older one yet.............................................

Any thoughts?
