I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: W7_stand alone scanner colour laser prints docs in wrong colour

I had the same thing happen although it was an inkjet not a lazer. Re-installing the software fixed it in my case.

My QMX Minolta 2200DL has started to leave a slight faint line down the print area. I've checked all consumables and other than the Magenta & Yellow Toners (50%) all others are showing 75% or above. This is not colour specific as I've done test prints of solid CMYK and moved the colours round on the page and the line is still showing in the same place.Any laser printer experts out there?Could there be something stuck on the imaging unit, transfer belt etc. Thanks

What's cheaper: colour laser with genuine ink or colour inkjet with compatible inks?

I'm happy to invest in buying a colour laser: but I can't find any refills for lasers
At least they don't seem to be widely available

So, my choice is: colour laser + genuine inks or colour inkjet + compatible inks

From what I know, side by side: laser's are cheaper
But, how about when compared to genuine laser ink to compatible colour inkjet inks?

I should stress that for me needs, I am not overly concerned if using compatibles doesn't give me perfect results - just close as possible is fine for me

What's more important probably is speed of print at highest quality

ANY feedback would be great

Thanks

Answer:What's cheaper: colour laser with genuine ink or colour inkjet with ink compatibles?

Finding Compatible Remanufactured Color Toner cartridges can be dicey. While they may be available, the problem may end up being the company tht does the remanufaturing. It is also dependant upon the model printer you get. I have noticed that the savings on my Black Canon X-25 toner cartridge is only about $12 lower than the cost of a Factory original cartridge. There are sites that I would save up to $30 per cartridge, but part of this is eaten up by the shipping charges. For my toner cartridge, I am about 1/2 mile from the store that does nothing but ink and toner refill services, and their garauntee thier cartridges 100%. In 3 years I have only had to return one cartridge and it was an HP #17 Color cartridge.

Now per page printing cost on a laser is much cheaper than on an inkjet. Though the printer cost itself is usually much higher for a Laser. Personally I use the laser much more than than my Inkjet, but I do use the inkjet for all color printing. But then 95% of my printing is monochrome text.

Hi Allhope someone more knowledgable can advise - I recently purchased a Lexmark x500n multifunction colour laser printer - I had a big black print job to do excel and word - 2000 pages - i was shocked to see that - ok the black starter cartridge of 2500 pages was nearly empty- fair enough - but all three colour cartridges (1500 page size) were nearly all empty too - I hadn't done any colour printing but when i contacted the manuf they advised that the printer uses colour also to print black!! - it's getting returned to them - but do do all colour lasers do this - obviously this quadruples the costs of printing and has put my costing out of the window!! - any advice would be great - it's a network colour printer, with copier and scanner that I need - a fax would be great but not essential.thanks in advanceTrifly

Answer:COLOUR LASER - PRINTING BLACK USING COLOUR!!

That would pee me off no end. How in God's name can it use colour to create black when there's a black cartridge in there? A cheapo mono laser seems to be your ideal tool. I know nothing about colour laser printers, but is there an option anywhere in the settings to print using only the black cartridge? Does the printer still work if you take out the colour cartridge while printing only black text documents?

I am about to buy a new printer, can anyone recomend a colour laser that is suitable for printing photographs.

Answer:Colour laser

Lower cost laser printers are often very disappointing for photographic work. All of our commercial pictures are done by the traditional chemical photo processing or inkjet printers.

When I try to print colour photos I cannot print Black (or shades of gray) they come out as brown or shades of brown. This is a recent occurence, the printer used to work fine. Black prints normally in text. I am using an HP all in one printer with HP cartridges from an HP laptop with Vista home. I have cleaned & realigned heads, deleted & reinstalled software but still the same problem. I have had countless emails with HP but I think the replies come from a machine as they are usually the same stuff informing me how happy they are to help.

I'm looking at buying a colour laser printer. I know that such printers have internal memory which needs to be big enough to hold the entire page because the whole sheet is printed at once. However, how do I work out how much memory would be enough? The printer I'm looking at has 32Mb, but I don't know whether this will be enough or not or how I can work it out?!Gary

I want to buy a colour laser printer for home use. It will be used mainly for word documents with the occasional photograph thrown in.

Don't tell me to buy an inkjet because that is not what I want. What I want is a recommendation for a laser printer capable of 1200dpi in A4 format. Preferably something that you have had personal experience with.

This printer will not get a lot of use, but I do not want to wish that I had bought something better as soon as I get it home.

You help in making the right choice is appreciated.
Regards from Graeme Marion.

Answer:Which colour laser printer to buy?

A few questions.
What is your budget range? Are we talking something sub $1000? When you say 1200 DPI, do you mean 1200x1200 or 1200x600? 1200x1200 is usually on higher end printers in the $1500-$2000 range.
Do you prefer the output of a specific engine technology? Or does the print engine (LED,Toner,Wax) not matter to you?
Also, what kind of performance do you want in the printer, must it be single pass color machine? Or do you want the high-speed color capabilites of the single pass printers?

Those questions being asked I dug up a few different printers in varying price ranges.

I have an Epson Photo 870 Inkjet and it's driving me up the wall.
Admittedly I've had it years and it's done a lot of printing, but now it's getting a bit long in the tooth. Every time I print I have to clean the heads. The kids complain all the time because the quality it not consistent. I have used genuine cost a fortune Epson cartidges and also compatibles, but I think it's past its best.

My Mums old B&W Brother goes on and on, never needs cleaning, looking at and never paper jams.

So, I was thinking of investing in a colour laser printer and thought you lot out there might be able to recommend a good bit of kit.

I'm not too worried about speed.
Something with separate colour cartridges would save cash, not just 1 black 1 colour.
A good quality print, maybe even up to photo standard.
Not too pricey on cartridges and maybe something I can get compatible cartridges for.

I'm sure there are some of you out there with some advice.

I've read a couple of posts already on the subject, but is anybody using a colour laser at the moment, printing around 50 sheets per week. I'm a bit concerned as most of the work I do is around 20% coverage, so would toner cartridges be consumed at an alarming rate? I'm attracted by it because I could really use the speed of them. Thanks

Answer:Colour Laser v Inkjet

A rate of 50 sheets a week doesn't fit very well with your requirement of the last sentence: "I could really use the speed of them."Good colour laser printers are expensive and if I had a requirement as small as yours claims to be, I certainly wouldn't use one. Cheap colour lasers aren't usually worth the desk space the occupy.Nearly all our colour printing is done by a number of inkjet printers. B/W printing (general office stuff) is by cheap mono lasers (which are good value).?d

Answer:Recommendations? for colour laser printer

Yea I am looking as well muymalestado, and from what I have found so far it appears that Brother is coming out ahead mainly because its cartridges are cheaper. They ALL seem to have the same features and are about the same price and quality. I have had HP/Lexmark/Cannon and with a little TLC they have worked well, just the cost of the toners that still sucks.

I had a laser jet printer for many years and got sick of it as it was costing a fortune in ink even though I was hardly using it. The problem I was having was cartridges getting blocked and by time they had been cleaned the ink was running out. Even though I wasn't using it for colour printing it was still costing me on colour cartridges as they needed to be replaced in order for the printer to work.

In the end I was advised that a mono laser printer would be the best option as they use toner instead of ink and as a result they don't suffer from the same problems that inkjet printers do, and as a result the are much cheaper. I have been very happy with my Samsung mono laser printer which I bought for ?30 of amazon, and never at any point suffered from the problem of the print heads needing to be cleaned before I could print.

I am now looking at buying a colour laser printer and would just like a heads up on whether the same is true for colour laser printers that because they use toner the print heads don't need cleaning and you can then not print in either black and white or colour for many months and still not have the problems and costs that you get with inkjet printers.

Answer:Photo printing with a colour laser

I have an OKI colour laser. I find that if I use glossy paper the toner rubs off. It refuses to stick to the surface and with the slightest handling the image is ruined. It didn't damage the printer in any way - but proved to be a failure.I now use 160 gram injet quality super white paper and get good photo results - but not quite as good as my Epson inkjet.

I'm trying to fix a printing problem with an OKI colour laser printer that has now spread to two printers.

On the first printer, the blue is misaligned with the rest of the colours. Replacing the cartridges, re-seating the cartidges and re-installing drivers has not helped.

Moving cartridges between the two identical printers to narrow down the offending component has led to the yellow now being out of alignment on the other printer.

Re-installing drivers has modified the alignment a little, but not fixed it.

Anybody have any experience with fixing this sort of problem?

I have a Samsung CLP-300N colour laser printer.I have been asked to print off a load of doubled sided pages, with average text and a small amount of red.Any idea what would be a charge that wouldn't see me out of pocket?Any advice will be thankfully received.

Answer:Cost of printing for a colour laser

Assuming you pay roughly 30 for each colour cartridge with 1000 page 5% cover and the same for black with 2000 page cover - if it were me I would charge 6p per page - hence double sided would be 12p per sheet of paper. This would cover the cost of just the toner and 80 gm paper - wear and tear, electricity and your time are other factors to take into account. Why not ask your local Staples print shop what they would charge as a guide.

Anyone out there found a solution that works?

Answer:Hp1500 Colour laser and Windows 7

The last known drivers for your 1500 were for XP. There were many who went to Vista only to find out there were no Vista drivers for the printer.

Here is a solution that worked in Vista which I;m pretty sure will work for you as well. Place the CD that came with the printer in the drive. Unplug the printer from the PC, run the CD software and when it gets to the part to plug in the printer cancel it and pull the CD from the drive. Plug the printer back in and tun it on, W7 will search for the driver on the web and won't find it and then give you some options. One of these options is to load the driver from your PC, point it to where you placed the software and XP drivers and it should pick up the driver and load. Good Luck....

To my surprise the printer sprang to life again and is still working OK a couple of hundred copies later.I have a new cartridge on order - but it will be interesting to see how long the existing one runs OK.Hence the next time a cartridge becomes "empty" I will try the same trick.

Hi,

Can someone please recommend me a colour laser printer for home use? Resolution should be at least 1200 x 1200 dpi. The option to print both sides of the paper would be nice. Multiple paper trays not necessary, nor anything else that will add unnecessary bulk to its size. There should also be connection for Ethernet and USB. Preferable that it uses separate toner cartridges for the different colours, so if one colour runs out then only that colour needs changing rather than the whole lot.

Thanks.

I have an excellent Dell 1320c laser printer that I may need to run in W10.
Dell Knowledge Base indicates that suitable drivers are included with the W10 OS.
A friend had problems some time ago.
Has anyone had recent experience with this printer and W10?
Is it fully functional with the Windows drivers?

Answer:Dell Colour Laser compatibility with Windows 10

This is my first post on this forum and hope someone can help me.

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 1764 last Thursday and it is running Win 7 home Premium 64bit.

A Lexmark C500 colour laser printer is hooked up to my old Dell Inspiron 6400 running XP 2005 media edition SP3.

I tried installing the printer on my new laptop through the "Add Printer" option but the printer driver for the C500 was not listed. I tried installing a driver from the CD I got with the printer but it returned a message advising was wrong OS. I then called Lexmark and was advised the C500 is not supported any longer.

Is there a driver for my printer I can install (read there is a driver for Vista 64bit) so that I don't have to go and purchase a new printer.

Answer:Lexmark C500 colour laser printer

Im sorry to tell you pcastric, but lexmark's website shows only a 32bit Vista driver. You may want to try it just in case... as many vista drivers work under Win7. The issue here may be the 64 vs 32 bit.

Hi,We're a small office services team with 6-8 people typically in the office.I've calculated that we're printing in the region of about 3000 A4 prints per month, and a rough estimate that we are spending about 3200-3500 per year on consumables for the printer (including toner, drums, fuser, transfer belts and paper). We're currently using an OKI MFP 3520 multi-function printer which seems to go through drums, fuser, transfer belts and toner like there's no tomorrow. At what kind of volumes does it become financially viable to have an all-in-one cost-per-print type contract? We want a nice, fast printer with low consumables costs (doesn't everyone?)All advice appreciated.

Rent.Supply & Service Contract: This one may have several different names but basically, they supply the Machine and all materials, you pay per copy.

I currently use an Inkjet printer and always use compatible toner cartrdges -- PrintRite branded -- as they are much cheaper and give far superior colour reproduction to Epson's own brand.I'm looking at buying a colour laser printer now the prices have fallen so much -- but, having done some calculations on the cost per page of printing with the laser, it actually costs more than the compatible ink.I have seen compatible black toners for a wide range of printers but have not been able to find any colour ones. Does anyone know if they're available or whether they're likely to be in the near future? I suspect that we might start to see them available now that colour lasers have fallen below the 300 mark...?

Further to my post yesterday (click here) on colour laser memory, a friend has suggested that a colour laser without postscript support isn't worth having. I intend to use the printer as a personal desktop laser at home, although I do print DTP type work including photographs. Is Postscript going to be that important?!

Answer:Is Postscript support important on a colour laser?

My understanding of Postscript is that it is necessary if you intend to send documents or artwork to a commercial printer for a print run.

I'm looking for a colour laser printer at modest cost, 250-350 say, that will repro "water colour" style of prints rather than glossy photos. Can anyone, hand-on-heart, say their's can, as no one covers this sort of info. Most of the published user/reviewers contradict each other in what they do say, with ratings for the same product going from one to five stars !All seems to be rather a waste of space.

Answer:Review the reviewers for a colour laser printer

Had a read about Colour Laser, they print just as good on copy paper as Photo gloss. But they still do not match Inkjet for photos. You have to pay over two grand to get the above

Hi all,

Long time reader, first time writer.

I recently purchased a Fuji-Xerox C525a Colour Laser Printer and have had problems making adjustments on the printer preferences screen. It's not that I can't make adjustments, rather that I can't read what the screen says. All of the text is in blocks and vertical lines. I have the latest drivers and software installed but to no avail.

Clicking the help button on the bottom right brings up a message saying:

C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\W32X86\3\fxhl2z. hlp file was created for a language not supported by you version of windows.

I am running a Pentium 4, 3.2ghz, 1 gig ram, windows XP.
The printer prints just great, but I would like to be able to make adjustments for print quality etc.
I have attached a screenshot of what i mean.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
J.

I doubt if anyone can answer this unless they have had direct, first hand experience. I am inclined to say yes but I would encourage you to search the net for an answer and try to see what the manufacturer has to say. If having the printer available is extremely important I would wait for an answer and confirmation before you proceed.

My default printer is colour, but the default preferences set it to black and white.  I've changed the default to colour on my Win7 Professional 64 bit PC, things print in colour from Word, Outlook, Adobe etc.  When I open photos in Photo Viewer,
they look fine until you go to print, the print preview is b&w and the print comes out b&w.  If you look at the print prefs through Photo Viewer, it says b&w, even though if you go through Devices and Printers it says colour.
I'm in a corporate environment, this printer is hosted on a print server.  All laptops are seeing this problem, running FixIt is not an option.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Answer:Photo Viewer prints black and white, print preferences are colour

Please remove the printer from Devices and Printers . Then follow the steps below to install the printer again.

Hi there gurus.
My pc doesn?t show certain colour objects in Publisher 2007 and some on-line sites. Overall, the screen colour is very good. I know the fault is localised, because when I switch to Print Preview in Publisher it looks fine and I can see all the object colours. (I only lose the colour with objects, not text)
Also, when I send a copy of a Publisher page to my partner who is on the same PC, it looks fine on her screen.
I?ve tried going to Install/uninstall programs and run the Repair, but to no avail. The guys in my computer shop are clueless without seeing it. Anyone who can help solve this for me is a gem.
Cheers!

Hi, I'm using the Aerolite theme with Aeroglass, and want a consistent colour for the borders. So I set accent colour from background 'off' and choose the colour. Fine so far.

Now that's ok if I log off and on.

But if I sleep or hibernate (not personally ) and then resume, the colour and setting are lost.

I noticed that on resuming, the border colour is present until the 'Please wait' screen appears, after which these settings are lost.

Any ideas? Thanks!

resetting your scanner from the menu. Mine did the same thing - Epson GT-7000 Photo (a bit old in computer terms)- all the grey scale photos came out with a strong blue tinge.Resetting the scanner to factory defaults seemed to cure it.Bodi

Hi

can anyone give me some advice please?

I’ve got a problem with my printer as soon as it runs out of one colour it will not print anymore, this is fine however all I want to do these days is print black ink only, im not interested in colour printing or photo printing.

Initially I bought the printer for photos colour etc and I do like the printer and it prints good quality documents and quite fast, but I only need black and white for 99% of my needs.

Its there a way to configure it to use the black cartridge only and to ignore the other cartridges?

I have changed the setting in the printer software to print greyscale only but, it’s still the same, as soon as one colour goes the printer fails to print and tells me to change colour cartridges.

I would be happy if the only cartridge I ever have to change is the black one.

Im working with Vista.

Ive searched the net to try and find a solution but getting nowhere, Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello friends,
I was just thinking that wouldn't it be great if we get more color options to change the background color on our Windows Phone devices than just black or white as we get on Windows 8.1 devices to customize background color along with tile colour?

Hello.

I seriously need help with my PC. I've reinstalled Windows XP and Service Pack 2, and I can't chnge the Screen resolution or the colour quality. It sucks. The resolution stays at 800x600, the lowest possible, and the colour quality stays at 8 bit. I think I have a ATI 128 MB DDR Radeon 9800 Pro. I dunno whether thats a driver or what. And I also don't know my graphics card, or whether that will help at all.

I would swear at this point but I'm too young.

Oh but I'll use this instead

Has anyone got any help for me that I can understand. I'm 14 but I still can understand most computer talk.

Anyway thanks very much for reading all this crap and please try not to point out all my spelling mistakes.

Alex Jordan

Answer:[resolved]Help with resolution and colour and colour quality??.. anyone??

Heya, welcome to the forums

Okay, it has to do with your drivers. Go to ATI's website and find your driver.

Here's the link

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html

Please download and install both the Control Center as well as the Display driver. Then restart your computer and try to change the resolution.

Cheers!

Answer:Screen colour to match magazine colour?

I found the easiest way to achieve this was to print the picture and then adjust my screen to match. Once you've adjusted the screen all future pictures which look too light or dark, on screen, can be adjusted to suit within your software.

I've had a Visioneer 9020 scanner for about 5 years. Until about a week ago it's worked without any problem. Now though, it's developed a strange fault whereby the scans (and previews) appear either yellow, green or any other colour of the rainbow (seems totally random). You can still see the content of the document or photo but with an incredibly strong colour cast. It's an intermittent fault, as sometimes the scanner works perfectly. I have uninstalled the scanner driver and Paperport software and re-installed according to instructions on the Visioneer site. This seemed to fix it temporarily, but now the problem has reappeared. If I reboot then this usually fixes it for a short while. Any help much appreciated.Win XP Home1.5 GB RAM2.66 GHz250GB HDSteve

All images captured by my 8-year-old scanner have suddenly, for the first time, become far too deeply coloured (and wasting ink!).Is this a cue for a new scanner? It's as if its light's become dim. It's always produced a slight blue cast in some modes, but the black's much too heavy now (as is red), and it can't seem to 'see' yellow. It happens in both copying and scanning to an application (the only scanner facilities I use), and whatever its colour scanning settings (for destination/original or enhanced copy)I'm sure it's not my printer, or screen settings, and I can't have changed any colour balance settings for the scanner (there aren't any). Scan previews on screen look like the printouts; too dark. All non-scanned images (or those scanned before this recent problem) are correct in colour (apart from the above-mentioned blue cast) both on screen and printed. Scanner is Epson Perfection 1240U.Win 98SE, printer HP Deskjet 970Cxi.The Epson software writers were somehow unable to make this model copy to non-Epson printers, necessitating a 3rd-party patch; but I'd be surprised if it's anything corrupted in the patch - I think copying just wouldn't work at all.I wondered if the scanning software (Epson Smart Panel & Twain) had got corrupted, but I would have thought that would have more of an all-or-nothing result?Apart from the current problem I'm still pleased with the quality of the scanned images, and would rather fix it than scrap it. Any ideas?

We've had 3 monitors for our PC now (all the same model, a GNR TS700) and on all three, the colour has gone wrong. The first and third time, the screen developed a green hue to everything. I think I've figured out that anything black has turned green (the Windows XP loading screen is green, as are the startup screens, and any dark patches on images have a green overtone). The second time the same thing happened, except everything turned a pinky-purple colour.

Am I right in thinking this model of monitor may have a chronic problem with the colour tube (or whatever it is that LCD monitors use)? I know it's not the graphics card, A) because I swapped the graphics card for a test one and there was no difference, and B) each time we've had it replaced, the monitor has been fine to begin with. This also rules out the cables because we've kept the same cables throughout.

So what is it likely to be - a bad batch of monitors, or is my computer doing something to the monitor that it shouldn't be? Thanks in advance for any help.

I use Word, Works & Open Office and all the same so I guess it's a driver problem but then again the fault is on all three printers (HP, Lexmark & Epsom). Any ideas?

The default printer settings are stored on a per-computer basis. Try deleting the printer connection from your laptop and then adding it again. If that doesn't work then it may be that the printer preferences on the other computers are set to something other than the deafult settings.

I have a Canon Pixma ip5000 printer and a Lide 80 scanner. Recently my printing has not been matching on screen colours and also scanning is giving a pinky hue with browns instead of blacks and greys. Is there anything I can dfo about this? Thanks!

Answer:Poor colour repro using Canon Printer & Scanner

it may be a callibration problem - monitors have to be setup to show correct colours or what looks ok does not print ok - or you could have a dirty printhead on the printer if this has only just happened. You could look for an updated driver for your printer.
