Google Chrome password manager

Question: Google Chrome password manager

Has anybody noticed a small key icon which has appeared in the address bar in the chrome browser? It is a link which opens the password manager.
It is a new addition which was not there before and there does not seem to be anyway of removing it.
Anybody come across this?

Preferred Solution: Google Chrome password manager

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Google Chrome password manager

Hello,
Chrome browser stores my passwords in the "Password manager". However, some sites ask me annually or half-annually to change the password. But it is not replaced in the "Password Manager", it keeps the old password, and when I try to open that site, the old password is embedded, have to change it manually. Chrome does not open a pop-up window asking if to save the password, as it has one saved.
In the "Password Manager" cannot do any editing.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim

Answer:Password Manager in Google Chrome

I believe you must delete the saved password and then chrome should ask to save the new password the next time you log in.

Or set chrome to never save passwords and use a better password manager like LastPass.

My computer was running slow so I went to my task manager and seen a whole bunch of Google Chrome processes running. I was confused at first because I don't even have Google Chrome installed. As I tried to stop the processes one at a time, more only popped up. Then I looked it up on the net, found others yall have helped on this site, and know there's something wrong. If possible, would like to know how and when the malware was installed as I have multiple students that use the pc and this is the first time ever had this happen, would like to know if it was a user doing something wrong by accident or on purpose (is even possible to know, but mainly would like to just get pc fixed!)

I right clicked and Disabled Antivirus AutoDetect (Norton); Downloaded zoek and have result log attached. Required a pc reboot and did that too. Problem is still happening. It also changed my home page to google.com (I changed it back). I also uploaded a picture of my task manager if that helps any.

Thanks!!!

Hi TwinHeadedEagle,
I have almost exactly the same problem running on my computer. I have run zoek, malwarebytes, and AdwCleaner and I still have the problem. Rather than create a new post in the forum I have just replied to this post since it seems so similar. I have now run Farbar and have attached the two logs. I also included a pic of my task manager showing the processes that keep loading. Can you help me? Thank you!

I was looking at using the LastPass password manager to keep track of all my passwords, but they seem to have gotten hacked awhile back

I use Google products all the time (just about everything but Chrome) and was wondering if someone could tell me what their built-in password manager is like? Are your passwords encrypted and do your passwords auto-fill on webpages?

Answer:Chrome built-in password manager

Rule of the thumb for better security is "do not save passwords".

Yes Chrome encrypts the passwords. But not the usernames. The encryption is done using Windows API. It makes sure that only Windows user who saved the password can view them. A hacker who steals your password database cannot decrypt them. On Linux machines, encryption is done using Gnome keyring.

Yes Chrome also has auto-fill feature.

Hi guys,

I'm just curious what is in your mind the best secured or the lesser evil password manager that can be used with chrome.

As I'm using mostly Chrome OS, I'm looking for a password manager that does not need to install anything on the target PC.

I'm using Sticky Password Manager now and while it's good, it requires me to install it's based software on a targeted PC in order for it to be used. That cannot work on a Chromebook which I used often.

And given that Lastpass had been compromised multiple times, could I still trust them with my data as they're still being rated as the top choice as a recommended password manager?

Many thanks.

P.S. Apologized if it's not in a correct forum.

Problem: When installing KTS and KPM, KPM doesn't install chrome extension...so I have to manually find it...which is brutal.

I contacted Kaspersky support, they sent me to this link:

How to add the Kaspersky Password Manager 8.0 (Windows) extension to Google Chrome

Unfortunately, the extension on that list is different than the one I had 10 days ago (had to re-install). Does anyone know where I can get the updated (if there is one) extension? The one I had before was more polished looking than this one (chrome icon matched the look of the KPM tray icon).

Hi, I just found a neat little feature in Google Chrome and I'd like to share it with others who might not have noticed it.

First you'll click the wrench in the top-right of your browser.

Then navigate to the option 'View Background Pages'

Then in the open window you can manage the processes Chrome is currently using. To get a more detailed look click the 'Stats for nerds' option.

And you should find yourself at a page that looks like this:

Hope this helps!

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable. Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!
Right-click on icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
Press the Fix button just once and wait.
If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

I am experiencing the same issues as some of your other users with a Fake Google Chrome process residing my Task Manager screen. My issue on my Laptop began yesterday, after I tackled removing a dllhost.exe issue over the weekend. Hi,

I noticed a few days ago that my computer was running slow.  I opened the task manager and noticed that the dllhost.exe*32 was in my Task manager over 20 times.  I ran my antivirus and nothing came up, I have both Malware, and Comodo.  I read through some removal logs and found one that was the same issue as mine basically.  I downloaded the Farber Recovery Scan Tool.  At first, I didn't read ALL the way through it and ended up downloading someone else's fixlist.txt that was part of a reply.  At the time I just figured it was a blanket fix for everyone, didn't realize it was for that specific computer.  So I pressed fix and it seemed to work......temporarily.  I also deleted Chrome but it still pops up in my Task Manager although I don't have the program.

So...now I have read more and am going to do this the right way.  I ran a new scan and am including it in the post.  Hopefully someone can help me fix the problem.  I really appreciate all the help.

I have a HP Pavillion dm4, 64 bit, running Windows 7 Home Premium

Here are my logs:
 Addition.txt   40.46KB
  4 downloads

 FRST.txt   82.95KB
  5 downloads

 Shortcut.txt   81.92KB
  1 downloads

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much,

Mik

The exe file is in the \userprofile\appdata\locallow\Sun\ folder. This exe cannot be deleted since there is a lock on it. Even if I kill the processes from Task Manager, they regenerate faster than I can delete.

The native bookmark manager of the Chrome browser is as basic as it gets. All it enables you to do is to search bookmarks, move them to and from folders, and to delete or edit them.

When you compare that to the Firefox bookmarks manager for example, you will notice that it is far superior. From options to sort bookmarks in multiple ways over extensive editing option to the display of additional information about each bookmark in the interface.

Google has released a new Bookmark Manager extension for Chrome and Chromium-based browsers that aims to improve the native bookmark manager.

It replaces the bookmarks manager which you notice when you open the bookmarks in the browser. Instead of displaying folders and links only, colorful tiles and other information are displayed by it by default now.

You find search, edit and import/export options at the top now which is an improvement to the native implementation. The search has been improved by Google as it will include information found on the page itself in the search and not only the bookmark title, snippet and url.

The left displays all folders just like before but with options to display subfolders right away or hide them instead.

The location of each bookmark is highlighted by the tile, and drag & drop operations are supported to move bookmarks around. Tiles seem to be placeholder icons. New bookmarks show a thumbnail image of the site in question instead.

The extension adds a star icon to the toolbar that you ca... Read more

Hello, I've seen a few topics relating to my problem but wasn't sure if the steps are exactly the same for each person or if they are customized from problem to problem.

I'm running windows 7 and as other users have stated, my computer was running slowly, freezing up periodically and minimizing programs I was using. I checked task manager and at that time I saw many dllhost with description COM surrogate running, and trying to end the processes they just kept appearing again. At that time I had AVG as my antivirus and malwarebytes. Only AVG detected the file but it could not delete it. I then uninstalled AVG and changed my antivirus to Bitdefender and that seemed to have stifled the symptoms although I don't believe it ever fixed the problem. My computer was running smoothly for about a week and now I have a filename uirrvmzweu.exe with description google chrome. My computer symptoms are about the same as they were when the dllhost process was running. They both act very similar as far as I can see.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Help me make Google Chrome OPEN the Bookmarks Manager.  I have already gone through the menu, Bookmarks, Bookmark manager, but only a blank white page appears.  Nothing else.  The address shown in the browser text bar field is "chrome://bookmarks" .
If the bookmark manager cannot open and show itself, then managing the bookmarks is impossible.  HELP!

I already tried with ABP turned off, and the same problem.

Answer:Google Chrome not letting us open Bookmarks Manager

Note that Google Chrome provides a button next to minimize, maximize and close buttons. This button is used to sign in using the Google account and the browser uses it to manage the bookmarks and other things.
You must sign in using your Google account and then the Bookmark Manager will return to normal.

I had been using AVG & found it adequate. I got this computer in fall 2009 with Windows 7 32-bit on it. Since then, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials. But it never found anything, until this month.Nov 21, I decided to try AVG again. D/Led the 30 day trial version & ran it. It found 4 Trojans in less than an hour. There was a "buy right now" sales pitch - pushy already; I was suspicious. Deleted AVG on 26th.Dec 30, I found right away that my computer is infected with a serious, really active bit of Malware/virus. I don't know its name; it apparently settles into or at least uses a directory in Windows ... C:\\Windows\sysWOW\dllhost.exe is said to be the culprit. MalwareBytes was continuously blocking "ads," I guess they are, generated by dllhost.exe? Try as I may, I've not been able to do anything about it.(Update: I bought & used Malwarebytes in 2014, March thru July I think. It used a lot of CPU while running. Slowed me down. I thoughtlessly deleted it ... at least, I think I did.)The very frequent message that Malwarebytes is blocking outgoing "stuff" must have been generated by the virus itself, as MWB wasn't on here at that time. My CPU was running at=close to 100%. The main user seemed to be C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dllhost.exe.Dec 31, MSE found something!: Trojan:Win32/Powessere.A!reg - "severe, active." This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me.Post all logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. All of the icon of application (.exe) files suddenly become blank , before this problem occured the .exe icons show properly like Nvidia will show Nvidia icon & Norton will show Norton icon.

But now , it's all blank icons ! Take a look at the screenshots .

Google Chrome

Internet Download Manager 6.21 Build 3 (Latest Version)

But it shows proper icon in my Windows Explorer .

I have already :
- Re-installed
- Searched through the internet
- Default File Type Associations - Restore
but still no luck.

I don't know what happened , it occurred recently . I've disabled my system restore so there's no chance I can restore to previous session.

I'm still able to open the downloaded application files but the icon is messing up which is showing blank icon !
But it shows properly in Windows Explorer.

Please help !

Answer:Blank .exe icon in Google Chrome & Internet Download Manager.

Hi PirateCreed,

I came across your problem because I had the same problem you mention with a new install of Google Chrome today. Could have been a problem for me because I used the corporate msi to install Chrome because I did not really want the program to install to the C: drive (yea, good luck with that one). I could probably write a book about that.

So this is what I did:

1. Uninstalled the 32-bit Chrome.
2. Search the C: drive for any mention of Chrome. May have to make sure hidden files are showing. Found remnants in ProgramData, Program Files (x86), and my Windows 7 x64 user profile. Deleted all.
3. Reboot.
4. Search through the registry for Chrome (complete word only). Deleted all relevant keys (gotta be careful here).
5. Reboot.
6. Went back to the download page for Chrome, chose the Alternate (offline) Google Chrome installer (Windows), selected the Alternate installer for all user accounts link, and under the Download Chrome button selected the 64-bit version (not sure if that is necessary but since I have x64, why not).

64-bit - https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/?platform=win64
32-bit - https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/?platform=win

7. Let the Chrome install, since it is for all users it will install in the Program Files (x86) folder, don't ask me why. I always assumed x64 programs installed to the Program Files directory.
8. Reboot.
9. Joy at last.

Hope this helps but of course your mileage may vary.

Hi

I frequently use i a website called https://www.lectio.dk/lectio/133/forside.aspx. It is a website where i can see what lessons i have the next 2 days and see my homework and such. To get acces to the information i need a login, which i easily can remember. The problem is that i would prefer just to be able to click login when i come to the website, but it does not ask to save username and password

I have checked if the website is listed in the "never save"-list in options, and it is not there. I have never been asked to save the username and password.

PS. the website is in Danish.

Answer:Google Chrome not asking to save password

Go to the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" button, which looks like a wrench (on the right hand side of the window)> Options > on the left hand side click on Personal Stuff and click on offer to save Password. Let me know if this helps :)

Password Alert helps protect against phishing attacks.
If you enter your Gmail or Google for Work password into anywhere other than accounts.google.com, you?ll receive an alert, so you can change your password if needed.

Password Alert also tries to detect fake Google sign-in pages to alert you before you?ve typed in your password. To do so, Password Alert checks the HTML of each page you visit to see if it?s impersonating a Google sign-in page.

A fake Google chrome file and dllhost.exe 32 file keeps spamming my task manager. I downloaded the real "Google chrome" from Google so I could use the "Google chrome task manager" to get rid of it but it didn't work. I turned my thumbnail preview off and I haven't seen dllhost.exe 32* since but I'm not sure if its completely takin care of that problem. My temporary fix for the fake Google Chrome file right now is when it starts spamming my task manager I right-click on it> open file location> start logging off and when the force shutdown menu appears I click cancel. For some reason it completely vanishes from my task manager for a couple seconds when I start logging off. Then I go back to my "open file location" and quickly delete the file before it starts back up. This stops it from spamming me but I have to do it every time I get on my computer. Still looking for a permanent solution for it.

Hello -
A customer of mine brought their personal laptop to me to look into why large amounts of data are being used up on their Verizon Hotspot.  This is a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop.  I ran multiple virus scans including ComboFix and Malwarebytes that returned zero results.  I then noticed in Task Manager that there were multiple processes running that belonged to Google Chrome.  I then verified that Chrome is not even installed.  I found the running .exe file in the \userprofile\appdata\locallow\Google directory.  Rebooted into 'Safe Mode' and then removed the folder and then scanned the registry for the same .exe name and removed them as well.  I then restarted the pc and the files reappeared, this time in the Adobe directory rather than Google.  I repeated the steps above with the same results.  Would you please help me with removing this virus?  Thank you.

This question has stopped appearing and only some of the web sites auto log in.
Can anyone please tell me how to get this facility back.

Google Chrome, just like any other modern web browser, offers to store passwords that you enter while using it to improve future access to websites or services on the Internet.

Instead of having to enter the username and password manually each time you delete cookies or sign out, you can use features provided by the browser to fill out the values automatically for you.

That's very comfortable and used by many, especially since it is a feature that is set to on by default.

Unlike Firefox, Chrome did not offer any protection whatsoever for stored usernames and passwords in the browser. Some users saw this as a blatant security risks, while others and Google were quick to point out that local system access was needed to access the data.

There are obviously situations where you may allow someone to access your computer, be it child, friend or business colleague. The chance that they may access the storage may be slim, especially if you are nearby, but it is definitely possible that someone with enough knowledge of Chrome would quickly use an opportunity to look up passwords in the browser.Click to expand...

I have a W510, Win 7 pro, 64 I find that Lenovo password manager will not fill the "user name" section of my gmail login in IE10 and Chrome (it only fills the password section and I have to manually enter gnail user name). In firefox it fills both the user and pass of the gmail - so no problem here. Any thoughts how I might be able to fix this problem in IE and Chrome?

Hello,
Chrome browser stores my passwords in the "Password manager".
Thanks

Hello there,

I recently noticed my laptop running very slow, especially when using Youtube videos.  I deleted some old junk to free up some memory but that didn't help.  Defragged my laptop and ran several virus scans, but no improvment and nothing found on the scans.  I found a new program installed on my laptop called "Spigot Search Protection" which I uninstalled.  No improvement after this.  I then noticed about a dozen processes running on my Task Manager that appeared to be Google Chrome windows.  They were using up a ton of memory... and I use Firefox not chrome so I thought it was weird.  I uninstalled Google chrome, but they remained open and listed as google chrome programs.  I opened the file location and ran a virus scan directly, and it came back with no threats detected  (I ran Kaspersky). The image name for each process that is running is Lnzdypqnuf.exe*32 and appears as a GoogleChrome file.
At this time I did a Google search and came up with this website (it seems others have had the exact same problem).  I saw that each case should be handled specifically, so I decided to register and post instead of trying to figure it out myself.

If anyone can assist me with getting rid of this problem I would greatly appreciate it.  I have never downloaded a virus before, and do not open ads or clickbait on websites.  I do use Utorrent once in awhile and expect that is how I downloaded this vir... Read more

Infections date probably on 10/26/2014. Fake google chrome processes (a lot of them) are running in the task manager, hogging memory and CPU. Computer is slow.

The process name is listed as Mjjckmsq.exe *32 in task manager, and is running from the location....
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieUserList\Uuiputi\fzsdleeocr
.....as mentioned by task manager when I right-click on the process and ask to open file location.

This EmieUserList is a hidden folder and is not visible in the LocalLow folder even if I enable the "show hidden files and folders" option.

I have run the Farbar Recovery scan tool and have attached the results with this post.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help solve this problem.

Hello,

First off, I'm a new member to the forum and I would like to express my sincere appreciation for help resolving this problem. I'm usually able to clean up malware but have not been successful in this case. As I've read through the furum, I've noticed other posts with a similar issue so this must be something new going around.

The issue I have is popups (always three windows) which became noticeable about five days ago and prompted my actions. I have two accounts on the infected PC and the issue is present on one account while the other account is free of the issue. As I investigated, I noticed a fake google chrome entry in the processes tab of the task manager. Its name is "cphngsji.exe*32" and its listed description is "google chrome." There are 10 to 15 entries in the task manager and it varies increasing and decreasing randomly. The randomly increasing and decreasing entries are visible and correspond to peaks and valleys in the CPU usage trace on the performance tab of the task manager. I also have an issue with the CPU fan running a great deal of the time when the infected account is active. This began several months ago and I now believe it is a result of this infection.

So far I have run my antivirus (McAfee), a tool called SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition. They were able to find and fix other bugs but not this one. I also ran a McAfee tool called 'GetSusp' which identified three PUP's and one Assumed Dirty ... Read more

From: http://lifehacker.com/googles-new-smart-lock-is-the-password-manager-for-the-1710352668

Amidst all the big Google I/O news, the company quietly made a major overhaul to Chrome?s password manager. It?s now a part of the revamped Smart Lock service, and if you still haven?t started using a secure app to store your passwords, this one?s for you.

What?s Actually New?
Google?or, more specifically, Chrome?has had a makeshift password manager for a while now. You?ve probably seen it before: any time you enter a password into a site, Chrome will ask if you want to save that password for later. It also used to be a pretty terrible way of storing passwords, until Google fixed that about a year ago. Nevertheless, this feature was little more than a slightly fancier version of saying ?Keep me logged in? on web sites.

Now, the whole system has been upgraded and rolled into Google?s Smart Lock feature. If that name sounds familiar, it?s probably because you?ve used it on your Android phone. Smart Lock originally allowed you to unlock your Android phone if you had it paired with a trusted Bluetooth device (like a smartwatch) or were in a trusted location (like your home).

In addition to rolling Chrome?s password manager into Smart Lock, the whole platform comes with a few new features:
You can manage your passwords from the web: If you visit passwords.google.com, you can see a list of all the passwords you?ve saved with Chrome. This is protected... Read more

Hello,

I'm trying to repair my parents computer. They were getting Trojan horse warning messages and crashing to blue screens. So far I have updated the BIOS and uninstalled all the browser addons and questionable apps I found on there PC. Since updating the BIOS it hasn't crashed to blue screen. However I'm getting a lot of lywqyjla.exe processes that say they belong to Google Chrome. I uninstalled Google Chrome and they are still there. Each of them is using varying amounts of memory and the CPU usage keeps spiking. I have run malware bytes and adw cleaner, each of them said they found and removed threats but these processes keep showing up.

I've tried multiple anti-everything programs from Super Anti-Spyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix, Spybot S&D, and various online scans that have found nothing, or found something but never fully cleaned my system. For a week or two, Google was being redirected to various ad sites, but after my system was "cleaned" everything was fine. Now today, anything remotely related to Google won't load at all. I've tried to manually remove the TDSS google-redirecting virus, but I have none of the files that supposedly come along with the virus.

An install of Google Crhome browser is apparantly recording cookies while the Google Chrome browser itself is not being used;  the cookies seem to be of webpages and sites that other people in this location visit through another browser.  This makes me thing that the Google Chrome browser sneaks information from the user of other browsers on the computer, and this makes me wonder, what more is being done with this set of cookies lifted from the other browser?

This cannot be normal; is it?

Every day, I come to the particular computer with google chrome on it, open history, see the cookies listed, delete them, and only use the browser in Incognito mode.  No cookies recorded during any of my usage sessions.  Later, after other people who never use Chrome use the computer, go online (with Internet Explorer), makes their website visits, and then finish; when I come back to use the computer again and go online in incognito mode on Chrome, ... there again are more cookies listed, and mostly from sites that I did not visit.

This just seems like it should not be happening.  Tell me about it?

Answer:Google Chrome records cookies without running Google Chrome

What content settings is ticked for Cookies? I frequently use Chrome Browser so I must need to observe the behavior you were referring to as cookie populated on All cookies and site data if this is what you were referring to(?).

Chrome OS is not taking off as Google might have wanted, but the company is not slowing down on development. To get more people to get into the world of Chrome OS, Google has come up with a rather impressive plan. Apparently, the search giant is working on a version of the Chrome web browser that replicates functions of Chrome OS right inside Windows 8.

According to The Verge, the latest developer version of Chrome browser for Windows 8 can be configured to run in Metro (Modern UI). However, the browser is suffering from several bugs so Metro mode doesn?t perform well enough and there are frequent crashes. More important than that, however, is that this new version of Chrome browser brings to the table Chrome OS design, Chrome app launcher, Google app menu bar and support for windows within windows. In other words, the stepping stones for Chrome OS in Windows 8, and a major coup by Google.

Hope there's a way to disable these features, already I don't like the Chrome App Launcher or Rich Notifications, Background running of Chrome and many others.

Hello,

As noted above, I'm currently having problems with a process that is being detected as Gooogle Chrome taking up most of the resources on my system. This, even though I don't have Chrome installed on my computer. I've tried deleting the file, but it just pops up somewhere else.

I ran FRST and have attached the resulting reports to this thread. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I have many "Google Chrome" processes running (jthzgxbastyz.exe *32), but I don’t have Chrome installed on this computer. I have tried to run Malwarebytes and Malwarebytes anti-root, MacAfee root kit, and several others. Anything I try to open, never actually opens. I ran DDS, but it doesn’t look like its accessing the file system. I am an administrator on this computer, but when I attempt to download anything now from Internet Explorer, I get a Security Alert " Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded." I reset IE and it allows me to download the programs, but I still can’t run them. Hope this helps! Seems like I have a full blown infestation. L

Whenever I open Google Chrome the first time after I finish booting my computer, it hangs for three seconds, during that time I see a wild amount of solid flashing on my hard-drive light indicator.

Upon looking on my task manager, I see 4 Chrome processes running, one of which seems to be causing a'lot of activity on one of the hard-drives. After a said few seconds the process disappears leaving only three processes and no hard-drive activity.

Is there anyway of stopping this kind of strange hard-drive activity when 'm opening chrome? I'm afraid the repeat thrashing might cause my hard-drive to wear out prematurely.

If anyone can help, please respond.

Thank you in advance.

My computer is running Windows 7.

About a week ago, I started getting messages saying "Google Chrome has crashed" when Google Chrome was not open. When I opened task manager, many Google Chrome processes under the same name were running. To try to fix the problem, I uninstalled Google Chrome, but the processes are still running.

Right now there are about 15 processes named "dlxyoesklw.exe *32" with the description "Google Chrome" in the task manager. The number of running processes changed frequently, and there are sometimes more than 30 running, all using various amounts of memory. When I press "End Process," more processes just appear.

If I press "Open File Location," it now takes me to C:\Users\Owner\AppData\LocalLow\EmieBrowserModeList\igsqvescqy\mwqvrxfk
If I try to delete the .exe file, it says "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Google Chrome. Close the file and try again" but of course Google Chrome is uninstalled.

Twice I have tried to delete the whole folder by restarting the computer and quickly deleting it before the processes launched. This did not work, as the processes still appeared after the file was deleted, and the folder relocated to a new one under \AppData\LocalLow\
The folder used to be in \AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList\ before it relocated.

I have G Data TotalSecurity 2014 installed but it did not find anything.

This behavior is very suspicious. What should I... Read more

Computer crashes on startup fairly often - I've always thought it was due to running 4 monitors but it is getting more regular. Checked Task Manager this morning and found 11 instances of Google Chrome running before I even opened the browser.
After googling and reading several threads it appears there is some sort of mutating virus on my system. It does not appear that there is a standard anti-virus fix (yet) and I'm fairly basic in my computer tech skills. I got directed to this site from a few others hence I'm here seeking some help.

I've followed the 3 steps and uploaded the 2 files as directed

Any help would be much appreciated

PS I run avast (free) as real time protection and I ran Malwarebytes this morning that picked up nothing.

Anyone upgrading to the new Chrome stable build 42.0.2311.90 and would like to revert back to the standard Bookmark Manager, here is how....

Type about:flags in search bar, press enter.

Disable flag:

Enable Enhanced BookmarksMac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS, AndroidProvides an off switch for enhanced bookmarks experiment #enhanced-bookmarks-experiment
DefaultEnabledDisabled

Relaunch Chrome (button on bottom).

--------------------------------------------------------------

The new bookmark manager does not allow choice of where to place new bookmarks, it is auto based on content and tags of site. Also, default is to show "Tiles" when bookmark manager is opened.

Done!

For the past few days when I open up Google Chrome I get a white page with a yellow ribbon at the top that says "Chrome didn't shut down correctly" and then an option to "restore" which only brings me to a new tab page.
I have looked for solutions and have tried going into appdata and changing my "Default" folder into "Default_old" then closing down Chrome and opening it again but that doesn't work (and I don't get another "Default" folder as the instructions says I should). I have tried disabling my extensions (of which pretty much all of them are ad blockers) and apps. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome but so far nothing has worked. Am I just not doing these things correctly? Is there another way I can stop this? Because I would really love to open up Chrome and have my homepages there.

Thanks!

Last night, while working on some vhs to dvd videos, I got an alert saying "Google Chrome has crashed". I don't have chrome on my computer. I looked at my task manager, nothing was showing under applications running, aside from nero, but under processes, there are 8+ different things for chrome. (wiljgkxpsy.exe*.32).
I clicked on open folder and apparently the folder was created yesterday at 348pm. The files are hidden and are under: AppData/LocallowApple Computer/CNVCZPGV/MUQUVESC
I ran Microsoft Security and nothing was flagged. I also tried Malware. Nothing related to Chrome was found.

Also, my mouse pointer on the screen is still showing but also will show a round ball like it's waiting/processing something. This didn't happen until last night after the message about chrome crashing.
What can I do to get rid of this.
Please, any help would be appreciated.

Answer:GOOGLE CHROME CRASHED and I don't even have Google Chrome

Hello,

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool () by Farbar and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

The title says it all! Currently using Norton Identity Safe's standalone password manager, but would like to start using Lenovo's instead. Attempted to import .DAT and/or .CSV files from Norton, but no option for these file types appeared in Lenovo's Password Manager. If not an option to import directly, is it possible to add one of the files to the location Lenovo stores the password manger entries?

Solved!

Answer:W520 - Lenovo Password Manager - Can .CSV or .DAT files be imported from other Password Managers?

Hello,  No you can't import .CSV or .DAT files into Password Manager. It uses a .PWM file format, and uses a 256-bit key AdvancedEncryption Standard (AES) with Microsoft CryptoAPI. You can export your info to be used in another machine with the Thinkvantage Password Manager installed, but not from another password manager. More info here:Password Manager 4 Deployment Guide Cheers!

Which free offline password manager would you prefer (without cloud)?

I already use sticky password premium. Sticky password has improved its windows extensions with new graphical identifier for input fields. This has made it very easy to use and autofill works for all sites now.

But i want to know if KeePass is better, being a open-source & free. Does it's autofill works with every site?

Please share & help me decide.

Answer:BEST Offline Password Manager: KeePass Vs Sticky Password Free?

It looks like you want to use them for online form-filling. I would use neither of them, KeePass does not have good browser integration it relies on external add-ons and opens one port just for form filling. It is good for offline secure storage.Sticky Password free is good but does not offer anything extra other than the passwords(for my use).If you are using Sticky password it is good for onlline auto-logins.

Hi,I was recently infected with the Windows Repair bug and fixed (maybe its still there) it via one of the posts on the sites. So I'm thinking I might have had a couple of other infections that were dormant for a while or Malwarebytes or Symantec never noticed. After fixing that, I noticed Google Chrome stopped working. When I started googling in Firefox and IE i noticed the page would redirect. And then an the "Internet Explorer Script Error" with the URL pointing to apparent spam urls "http;//celebrity-gossip.net/ashley-tisdale..." as an example. So I updated and ran Malwarebytes AM, Symantec & Microsoft Defender to see what they would. Symantec found an bloodhound virus in an archived drive. And i cleaned whatever Malwarebytes found, forgot now since its been a 4 days.I've tried the TDDSkiller.exe and that wouldnt launch. I tried renaming it too, but nothing.I found another thread and tried cleaning with SuperAntiSpyware and Hitman.I don't remember the correct order I've ran these, but followed according to the threads, including safed mode, internet off, etc...Anyways, any help is appreciated. here is the log:.DDS (Ver_11-03-05.01) - NTFSx86 Run by Mikael at 21:35:05.37 on Thu 04/07/2011Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.13 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_24Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.1033.18.2047.902 [GMT -7:00].AV: Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition *Enabled/Updated* {FB06448E-52B8-493A-90F3-E43226D3305C}.===========... Hi! I am a heavy google search user who frequently uses google to: define ___, calculate equations etc.

But recently my google search results is changed to:

The top bar still appears perfectly normal when I am not in the search result page:

If it is related, bing has problem as well - it goes black screen:

The characteristics are:
One page itself:
- Words appear bigger
- It seems like I've log out but I am actually still logged in
- Google tips and tricks such as define, tilt etc all are not working
- Clicking "more" and "search tools" refresh the page and does nothing.
Others:
- In other places such as email, youtube, the functionality remains completely normal and unaffected
- I do not think the problem is related to the external internet settings as other devices are able to access these functions/websites without any problem.
- I have no problem accessing any other webpages.

Solutions tried and still not working:
- Completely reset google chrome's setting
- Reinstalling google chrome
- Resetting internet explorer setting
- Resetting computer's ip setting through cmd- netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
- Full scan with avast antivirus.

Any other ideas please? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated as these tips and tricks are a truly useful function for me.

Answer:Google Chrome: Google Search Extra Functions (Tips) Not Working

I too have the exact same problem. i have tried hard for a month+ on 100s of sites with no avail. this probably is some super smart form of malware/virus which changes your IE's lan proxy settings to "127.0.0.1:8080.proxy.pac", this seems to affect chome and IE while firefox looks ok. the only "visible" difference is with the google main page as you described you'll also notice that at the bottom of the page, the number of page results are limited to 10 and no more, you just cant see more results than that. I couldnt find any any solid fix to this (not even complete reformat) The only temporary solution(till next reboot) seems to be to go to internet options in IE - connections tab - deselect that proxy setting and select automatically detect settings though i personally use hola better internet extension which seems to fix the problem till its kept on. I want this dreaded issue to get some attention so that am actual solution is found :/

It doesn?t matter what claims a software company makes, there?s one universal law of product design that continues to hold true ? nothing is unhackable.

That?s where Parisa Tabriz comes in, Google?s head of product security for the company?s Chrome browser. Ever since her entry into Google in 2007, the 34-year-old security expert and her team have detected countless bugs and loopholes in Chrome?s security system, patching them before they can be exploited by outside hackers. She was even featured on Forbes? 2012 ?Top 30 People Under 30 To Watch In the Technology Industry? list. It?s no wonder then that she?s earned herself the moniker of ?Security Princess? among both cyber security professionals and the media.

Calling themselves the ?Department of Chromeland Security? Tabriz and her team of 30 white hat hackers (security researchers who attempt to hack systems for good, as opposed to black hat hackers that breach software for personal gain or sport) are hard at work everyday to make Chrome the most safe browsing experience it can possibly be.

Hello,

Apologies if this has been previously addressed, but I couldn't find much by searching through the forums.

I'm wondering if there is a way to permanently hide/remove recently visited sites from the Google home page in the Chrome browser?

I have set Chrome to "Keep local data only until I quit my browser," and installed the Click & Clean extension from the Chrome Web Store and set it to "Delete private data when Chrome closes," (http://www.howtogeek.com/137681/how-to-automatically-clear-private-data-when-you-close-your-browser/) but neither of these actions are deleting those recently viewed sites from the Google home page.

Judging by the amount of complaints found through googling, there are a lot of people who hate this, so I'm hoping there's a work around out there that I just haven't found yet. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would sincerely appreciate it!

I'm running Mac OS X v. 10.6.8, and Chrome version 30.0.1599.101 (up to date at time of posting).

Answer:Google Chrome recently visited sites on google home page - permanently hide?

Has anyone successfully used Click & Clean for this purpose? :S

For a few days now, after getting one of those fake "antivirus" programs my Google Chrome browser is unable to open any pages. I can open them in IE and Firefox, but on those browsers any links I click typically get redirected to random advertisement websites rather than the page I'm trying to reach.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

using google chrome or ie 11 I could not access any webpages. I was able to get to most webpages after checking a box in internet options advanced security by check enable enhanced protected mode...and then downloading malwarebytes, however I cannot go to www.google.com and I cannot reinstall google chrome or avg free antivirus as it will download but then it says there is no internet connection you must be connected to the internet, yet in my ie11 browser I am connected to the internet and can get to usatoday.com msn.com espn.com etc...but never google.com  strangest thing I have ever seen it says web page not available....after my initial run of malwarebytes the scan discovered over 1100 problems and I quarantined them all, and rebooted and for a short time I could go to google.com, but then when I tried to download AVG it bombed out again, and then I could not get to google.com again and have not been able to since....When I try to go to google.com using IE10 (I rolled back to ie10 to see if it resolved the problem as I had read about ie11 problems with google, and that did not work) the error message I get says  "THIS PAGE CAN'T BE DISPLAYED"   in big letters then under it it says make sure the web address https://www.google.com is correct and under that "look for the page with your search engine" then under that "Refresh the page in a few minutes" then under that ""Make sure TLS and SSL protocols are enabled go to internet options>advances>setti... Before I even say anything, I have tried to reinstall Chrome 3 times and the problem still stands.

So my problem is that when I try to login to my Google account on Google Chrome, the web page goes white and Chrome does not log in. The steps I took are as follows:

It starts on the regular Chrome login screen. (see attached picture #1)
I insert my password and press the 'Sign In' button.
It loads to a white screen. No loading, it is always finished every time I try. (see attached picture #2)

I don't know if this is relevant, but the app launcher also suffers from this malfunction and will not display any of my apps (see attached picture #3). There are no errors when starting Chrome, or opening the page. The page is just white for no reason. Nothing has ever gone wrong with Chrome (surprising, I know) and I really love it. It is fast and it looks sleek. It IS a RAM hog, but apparently my 2 GB ram laptop can handle it, so I'm happy. My opinions aside, I hope you can help me fix this.

Hello to all,
I have installed google chrome and I really like it. However it has one major drawback. It remembers what I have typed in google search bar.
How can I disable this?
I have uncheck every option in "under the hood" settings, but that is not it.
These search items disappear only when I do clear browsing data. But on the second use when I want to type something in google search item filed or just click on it everything that I searched in the previous session (if not cleared explicitly) is shown in form of drop down list.
Internet explorer and firefox allowed me to turn this auto completion whenI wanted.
Is it really that difficult in chrome?

Thanks

Answer:Google chrome remembers what I typed in google search engine

I think you can only block the search history in Chrome by using private mode.

Wrench icon > New Incognito Window.

This will prevent any searches, downloads and websites appearing in your history, and will delete all cookies when you close the window.

Recently my Google Search results have been getting hijacked to ad websites. Whenever I delete my cookies it goes away for awhile, then comes back. I also have occasional audio advertisements play on my computer, I found whatever trojan is doing this, is using iexplore.exe. I ran a scan with Spybot S&D, and it found some things, but things are still being redirected. I ran a scan with HijackThis, and the log is pasted below. If you could have a look at this, and see what could be doing this. I am running Windows 7 32bit Ultimate, with everything updated, all updates. I have Kaspersky IS 2010 installed. All help is appreciated. The current version Google Toobar 8 was a part of Google Toolbar Labs project. Google Toolbar Labs is the place to test the newest ideas and technologies for Google Toolbar. Labs toolbars may not be as full-featured or as stable as Google Toolbar, but they will be a cutting-edge way to try out new features, provide feedback, and help improve our product. Google Toolbar 8 for IE9 is actually built and runs on top of the Google Chrome Frame platform. This means that Toolbar 8 will run more like a web app in that it can be customized and updated much more frequently and easily. It also means that Google Chrome Frame is installed at the time of Toolbar 8 installation, and all the benefits of having Google Chrome Frame come along with it.
Since this is a brand new platform, not all Google Toolbar features are available. There are, however, a number of new features in Toolbar 8:
Google Instant
Google Dictionary
Most Visited Sites
The new toolbar can auto-update even while you are browsing, so you will get the latest version instantly without having to restart. If you are using Google Toolbar 8, you will be updated frequently so that we can fix bugs and add new features more quickly than on previous toolbars.

But testing is closed right now and if you try to download it you still get v6 I think. Toolbar 8 FAQ : Toolbar 8 (Labs) - Toolbar Help Google Toolbar Labs

Clean installed windows 10 last week and I'm now getting a few odd display issues. On occasion my google app launcher is not displaying properly, It is much too big. After opening and closing a few times it returns to normal size. The same thing happens with results in the search/address bar.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm sure that there are several threads like this, unfortunately the solutions I've attempted haven't been very useful for me. As of late I've been suffering from a google redirect virus. It hasn't actually been harmful at all. My computer still runs at optimal speeds and I still have phenomenal internet connection speeds.

The issue lies with both Google Chrome (I loved it until now...) and Firefox (second best browser). Whenever I try to perform a google search in either browser I'll get the desired results list. However when I click a link it redirects me to another site. When I flush the DNS or clear my browsing history it works fine temporarily, but then moments later it starts redirecting again. I've ran Piriforms CCleaner to remove cookies, I've ran CCleaner's registry fixer, I've also performed several scans on my computer both normally and with Windows in safe mode using Webroot Internet Security Essentials 7.0 and I'm still having issues. I'd like to be able to fix this so that I can stop using IE 8 x64 (beta) and my iPod for browsing the web now and get back to Chrome.

Don't know if this info helps but I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
