Playing MMO games on a TV via my PC

Question: Playing MMO games on a TV via my PC

Hi guys
At present I play MMO's through a 'ProLite E227HDS iiyama led 22" Monitor'. I'm finding the playing area to be too small. Especially with all the in game information that needs to be on the screen at all times.
I've looked at getting another larger monitor, but they seem a bit pricey for my pocket at this time. So, I happen to have a 'Toshiba REGZA 32" led/lcd TV' that I'm not using. I connected it to the PC and it displayed on the screen. However, only in a relatively small, square area in the middle of the screen. The only way I've been able to get it to fill the whole screen is by stretching the picture.
Q - Does anyone know how I can get it to use the whole screen and keep the aspect ratio. When I connected it then I used D-SUB, because that is how I was connecting to the monitor. I have since changed the way I connect to the 'iiyama' I am now using DVI. However the TV doesn't have a DVI socket. The other connection choices are...
HDMI x 3 and LAN

Preferred Solution: Playing MMO games on a TV via my PC

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Playing MMO games on a TV via my PC

With the HDMI connection you should have no problems. Go to the control panel and set the screens to appear for the same desktop on both.

Hello, I have a question. My Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6" doesn't overheat, although I've noticed something rather odd. When I play Fifa 17 with the charger plugged in, the fans are very loud and the laptop gets pretty hot. When I play Fifa 17 on battery only (charger not plugged in) the fans are quite silent and the laptop doesn't get hot at all. Why is that? For all I know, I would expect the exact opposite...Thanks in advance!Kind regards,Tijs

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 720 15" : hot when playing games on charger, cool when playing games on battery???

The CPU runs at full speed when it is plugged in and runs more slowly on battery to save power.  Faster = more heat.

I've been having this issue for nearly a year now (probably around 9 months). It started after my little sister made me get a virus by her trying to download something onto my laptop. I've since taken it to a reputable computer shop as well as followed instructions from other computer wizs and I think it's no longer there. Issue is, my computer has kind of developed another problem after that. It freezes on it's own sometimes, when I pick it up or even when it's on a desk and immobile. It would also freeze when I play a game sometimes, loud buzzing sound as the game continues in loops I believe. I had BSOD problems earlier this year that was solved (Apparently. I haven't gotten any in about 4-5 months) when I had Windows 7 but this issue still persists.

When it would freeze and I manually turn off my computer and turn it back on, the laptop would sometimes say no wifi could be detected. At all. Not mine, not my neighbors, nothing. I've never really taken it out of the house so I don't know if it'd act the same elsewhere. I would then shut it down and take out the battery for 30 seconds before putting it back in. Sometimes the wifi would work then or I'd go connect it to my Internet Modem and the wifi would start working over there too.

So I'm not sure what's causing this problem. It's not overheating as I had it cleaned less than 4 months ago by a professional. I've had this laptop for two years and I really wanted it to last me at least 4 because I'll be going into an ani... Read more

Hello all,

I've been having a few problems with my laptop since I bought it. The problem mainly occurs when I'm playing a game (usually xcom: enemy unknown or deus ex HR at the moment) but has occurred when I'm browsing the internet (albeit far less often). The BSODs appear to be random but I'm using a blue tooth mouse and have noticed the BSOD will usually happened if I'm using it. I've also noticed that my laptop screen with black out for a split second on games that are quite graphics intensive for my system.

Its been frustrating me a lot so I reinstalled and fully updated windows 7. The GPU drivers are all up to date also.

I've attached the SF file that is required and would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks for your time

So I recently opened my CPU because it was lagging and I thought maybe a little clean up might do the trick. So I softly brushed the drivers inside the CPU to get some dust off. However, when I turned on my PC, it seems that whenever I watch videos or play games, a loud crackling sound comes out from my speakers. I don't know what is causing this.

I have tried disabling my drivers (sound and display) but to no avail. However, if I mute the volume on my sound driver, the sound disappears. Which lead me to the conclusion that it might be a conflict of sound and display.

Since the problem only occured when I opened my CPU and cleaned it, it might also be a wiring problem or something.

Can someone help me on this?

Have you tried a different set of speakers? Make sure the speakers are all the way plugged into the jack.

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress. Last summer I was downstairs on my pc connected to an ethernet to the router. Internet was great no problems really.. I have a twin brother who is upstairs and he used wireless he lagged alot and he only had problems if I was on my computer and that went on for a while. I have a grandfather who sat infront of me while I was on my pc and I couldnt do it so I moved upstairs but I didnt have a wireless pci adapter for my pc I had a wifi adapter which you plug in the wall to wirelessy connect to the router downstairs and I just put my pc's ethernet into the wireless adapter. I used that for a little bit until I couldnt take the high ping I was getting in game servers forcing me to just move my pc in the corner of my room and I havent been on it since. I have been playing ps4 using a wireless connect to the router downstairs. I have connection problems off and on but not every day. I today just got back on my pc and I am expieriencing constant lag and disconnection from games and discord. My router is the NightHawk AC1700 ,my Adapter is a tplink adapter. What can I do to increase my internet speeds I just dont want so much lag and horrible ping when I play my pc games with my friends.. and a reminder my router is downstairs with the modem.

I just updated and rebuilt my PC and have reinstalled Win 7 64 bit and am constantly getting a BSOD while using the PC. Specifically while downloading/installing/playing games. I have also had the error occur just while surfing the internet.
From the program Blue Screen Viewer it seems to be caused by ntoskrnl.exe+7f1c0 and/or ntoskrnl.exe+7e769
I can not find any solution to fix this issue, I have updated drivers, I have ran the Microsoft memory checker, , I have changed out my memory, tried 2 other video cards, tried two different wireless network cards, now on wired connection, I even changed motherboards, got the errors on both SSD and HDD. The only things I haven't changed out is the PS and CPU, since I am using the PC to write this I am ruling out the CPU as the issue.

I have used Memtest86 and prime95 to test the memory and CPU, nothing is coming back with errors or issues. I did run driver verifier and got two .dmp files for some specific files but not sure what to do with those now. They are included in the attachement

It seems to be software/driver issue but I can not figure it out.

Any help would be great, thanks!

Hello All

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1254 (at least started as that, had some stuff upgraded, explained below), AMD A6-3620 2.2Ghz Quad Core with AAHD2-HL board; save you the time of looking it up if needed. What happens is the system with will just freeze. Occasionally the audio that was playing with stutter infinitely like a skipping CD. Rarely I notice the system will stutter once or twice before totally freezing, happens in a couple seconds. But mostly, it just stops. When it freezes, the only option is to hard reboot.

I have had this problem for quite some time, probably about a year or two. At first I really didn't notice any consistency in the crashes, seems totally random. Some times it would freeze while browsing any random page, be it videos, forums, ad ridden or ad free. Any browser as well; Chrome, Firefox, IE. It also crashes when playing some games although not other games that have higher requirements; e.g. Guaranteed to crash, probably within 10 mins, if I play '8-bit Boy' on Steam (about as low res as implied) but I can go on 4 and 5 hour binges on Elder Scrolls Online or Skyrim with no crashes. I have recently noticed that YouTube videos (any video) is a guaranteed crash within a 20-30 seconds.

I have tried everything I have been able to find to do, to try and fix this issue; but none have worked. So far the hardware parts that have been replaced with new components are the RAM (now 2x4GB GEIL Enhanced Corsa PC3-12800), HDD (now 2TB WD Cavi... Read more

Hello guys. So here is my issue i dont really know how to specific it further then this still hope it will help.

I have been getting BSOD for a while now and it's getting to the point i cant do a single thing on the computer. I did the config for dumps and so on and ended up with this RAR file with all the info i assume. I mostly get the bluescreen when i try to watch anime etc on googlechrome. It never works it's a matter of seconds before the BSOD comes. But when watching it on other browsers like opera it works just fine "mostly" even there it bluescreens from time to time. And then there is when it's most fatal, Playing onlinegames. Whenever I play online games like World of warcraft, League of Legends, Heroes of Neweart etc etc etc i risk getting bluescreens. It differs very much from game to game how often the bluescreens appear and it seems to not be preformance related since sometimes i play constantly for hours when maxing out games and pushing the computer to it's limits when it comes to frames. And still the bluescreen lies in dorment waiting for a more suitable interrupt for me. From the looks of it the bluescreen is related mostly to my operatingsystem more then commponents after i looked at the dumpfiles via "Bluescreenviewer".

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this and i hope you guys can help me with this. also this is my first post so I maybe did this typical "bad thread", Still i hope this will get me atleast closer to... Read more

SP1 isn't installed, please do the following:

Quote:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates (may take repeated visits)
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates. May take repeated visits, but keep it up until you get several "Windows is updated" results.
If you're having difficulties with installing a Service Pack, please use the SURTool from this link: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Also, check out this troubleshooting link from Microsoft: Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I have had limited success in installing updates/Service Packs when using a "clean boot". I suspect that I'm just bypassing the problem - and that it can come back to bite me in the butt later on.

Hello, first time poster looking for help as I can't diagnose my issue after trying numerous things. Currently when I play a game the BSOD happens randomly, I can go a whole day without it, or it can happen frequently. It happens the most when I close or exit a game, then it'll kick to a blue screen.

I really appreciate what you guys do and I hope I followed all the instructions right on how to post my logs and stuff, here's the attachment and some basic system specs:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I have reinstalled to this computer numerous times.

Motherboard: p5n32-e sli nforce 680i chipset

Answer:BSOD Playing various games, closing games, no overheating.

Before we can even begin to find the underlying cause you need to update the following drivers. Especially asacpi.sys. Yours is from 2005

Code:
ASACPI.sys 3/27/2005 10:30:36 PM
Lycosa.sys 1/18/2008 4:51:42 AM
nvm62x64.sys 10/17/2008 5:01:06 PM
netr28x.sys 2/25/2009 11:02:09 PM
How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference

It doesn't happen often but sometimes it freezes for a second while loading a certain game which works fine on another day and gives BSOD. Sometimes it happens after I've loaded the game and am in the moment of playing. My hardware is more than enough for the games I run and I even run them on low-mid even though I can manage high settings. The games I usually run are CS:GO, League of Legends and Modern Warfare 3 [rarely play; received 1 BSOD while loading it]

Hi,I have upgraded my packard bell to a compaq system. the packard Bell has a number of older games on it which are getting old, but my kids still like to play them (such as The Sims). They still want to play them but I want to keep the Compaq for newer games and not load on the older ones, to save it from clogging up. Is there a way I can run the Packard Bell standalone and access the files / games on it through the compaq. For example leave the sims disc in tray 1 of Packard Bell and then put an icon on compaq desktop to play it? Also could I install MS word and excel on the packard Bell and then access them through the compaq, to save installing them on two pc's???Packard Bell is running Media Centre and the compaq is running pro.Any Comments appreciated. Thanks :)

Answer:Playing games through a different PC

This could be achieved in theory by using a wireless network setup and sharing the optical drives on your old machine... however as far as I am aware, you will not be able to run office without installation to your new machine. In order to setup your network, you would need to purchase a wireless router and set this up on your new machine... file and print sharing should be enabled and you would be able to access files that you choose from both machines. How good is the TV for displaying PC game graphics? I have an Xbox and Alba TV and the picture/graphics are brilliant. I presume this is what the TV out feature of the grahics card is used for? Would you also overcome the problem with high response rates of some TFTs?Just imagine those big Rome Total War battles on a large TV screen :-)

Answer:Playing PC games on TV

I would probly think they were very blury.Probly crud graphics just as they would be on a PS2.I really cannot sit and play a PS2 because of the graphics its really slow and jerky, and the game programmers try to use a trail technique to fade out the all the bumps,of course it hardly works and gives the screen a cloudy affect.Xbox graphics on a tele are not bad,but everything is out of proportion, and sound doesn't go in time with the picture. You can indeed plug a S-Video cable from your TV-out port to your tele and see the screen as normal, but like i said it will probly be blury.I prefer classical CRT's to TFT because they have a more colourfull picture, although to be honest the TFT's give a crisper picture."Just imagine those big Rome Total War battles on a large TV screen :-)"Just imagine those big Rome Total War battles on a Digital projector, huh? ;-)

Question: playing PC games

Hi,Just a quick question regarding playing PC games.I have been given an old PC game "Alien v Predator" and it wont play on my machine!I have Windows XP and the game specifies Windows 95/98.Does this mean my system is too good to play this game?

Answer:playing PC games

Some old stuff won't work on XP. You could try right clicking the .exe file that is the game; select properties; then compatibility. In this you will see options to run in "Windows 95" mode or whatever.I've never tried this myself, but have a go...it may work!Skeletal

Question: Playing games

Hi,Not really sure if this is the right place to post - I don't really have much of a clue what I'm doing with computers. I've had a Dell Dimension for about a year and a half, about a month ago I reinstalled XP. I could only get the CD and DVD player on the cd drive thing (samsung cdrw/dvd sm-352f ) to work and it wouldn't recognise games - the screen froze every time I put one in the drawer. I downloaded the driver from the dell website for the samsung cdrw/dvd sm-352f and it worked fine for about two weeks before the same thing happening again. This time I've tried to download the driver again, and although it seems to install it doesn't fix the problem of not being able to run games. If anyone could help, I'd be very grateful, I'm experiencing football manager withdrawl symptoms  :-/

Answer:Playing games

Did you get this machine new? What model? What is the service tag for the machine? (It should be on the side of the case). Do you have any spyware/adware/virus protecion in place and being used? Do you have a shiny Windows CD if you should need to reinstall?

I have an Old Dos Game that I was able to find in bin format and was trying to figure out how to play it on Windows 10. I was trying to figure out DosBox but maybe it's just me but it's too complicated.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Answer:Playing Old Dos Games

With DOSBox things are rather basic since I can easily run some old 8bit dos games on the 64bit Windows 10 as well as previously seen on the 64bit Windows 7. With a basic entry to mount the game's program folder on a virtual drive you then simply type the name of the main executable to see it run.

One classic title was the 8bit Duke Nukem where the first entry was "mount c: c:\duke nukem 1" where the custom folder had to be created for the old game since that didn't have any installer. Once mounted I simply typed in "dn1" being the "dn1.exe" file for starting the game up. The game loads right up!

A PC World article on DOSBos makes for a good read along with the Wiki and other sources since this is an easy one to learn how to use. The PC World article can be looked over at: How to Use DOSBox to Play Classic Games | PCWorld

The dosbox.com wiki is seen at: Basic Setup and Installation of DosBox

And then there's the How-To-Geek site for another guide. How To Use DOSBox To Run DOS Games and Old Apps

With a newer game that is more involved like the Duke 3D sequel with a Dos/9x capable installer you would need a different type of emulator since DOXBox is intended mainly for the stand alone type games that simply unpacked into a folder from a cd collection if not bought back then on a floppy disk. A lot of those old titles are now if found totally free to download since they were long ago discontinued since at this late date who would still b... Read more

Question: IE 7 Playing Games

Hi there,
I have a problem with browsing web pages. If i go to a search engine and do a search, a list of sites come up and i choose a link that may interest me. My problem is that when i click on a link, it takes me to another site that i didn't want. I then click back, click on the original link, and then i go to that link. I suspect it could be a Virus/Malware/Trojan problem but thought i would post here 1st thinking it could be something in my advanced settings for IE 7. I have IE7 on because i had problems with IE8 (not related to this problem).
Have been into IE tools and reset all default options, have also run scans with AVG, SpyBot, MalwareBytes, and CCleaner, as well as Reg cleaner. All say everything is fine, thus why i have posted here first.
All help appreciated and thx in advance.

Question: playing games

Ever since I had windows 10, a game that I often play on windows 7 has stopped working so I am unable to use this game on windows 7.
I can understand Microsoft wanting to get people to move over to windows 10 but it is really unnecessary to stop things working on windows 7 just to get people to give up windows 7. We have paid good money to get windows 7 in the first place and support
doesn't end until 2020.
I even had to reinstall win 7 a couple of times to get it to work but to no avail. The most recent reinstall of windows 7 enabled me to play the game I wanted to play. The last time I was able to play this game was this morning. Then this afternoon I got
round to catching up with all the updates for win 7 - guess what happened, the game stopped working. So it's obvious one of the updates stops the program from working.
I'd appreciate having this update withdrawn and a replacement put in place so we can continue to use win 7. Either that or post some instructions on how we can restore the program to work.
Thank you.

Hello, Rose. I searched for your problem, and found a topic with a user having almost exactly the same problem, even for the same game. Here is a link to that topic

http://forums.techguy.org/games/1364...en-trying.html

The user claims they uninstalled then reinstalled Shockwave, and it fixed the problem. But...

You may wish to check this link FIRST http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ to see if your Shockwave player is working and or up to date. IF yours is working, you will see the animation on the page, if not, it will ask you to install the Shockwave plugin. I clicked it myself, and it says that I need to install the missing plugin (Shockwave).

Question: HDD playing games

I tried the forums but was unable to find anything help full in this issue so posting it now.
My secondary 80GB SG Barracuda is gone crazy. the problem is that the HDD gets undetected when its being written. If I copies anything from it or in it (any partition) it vanishes from windows and even from bios. After a couple of minutes I can re-detect it from the device manager. and its fine till I try to access it. After trying so many things I was able to copy data from 1 partition with old DOS based ghost.exe, by making image of the partition.
I'll salvage the data by using ghost but can my hard drive get repaired?

Over the years I've collected some games that I've never gotten around to playing or feel like playing again, but it appears that XP is not as friendly with some of them. I know there is a compatibility mode selection in XP. Would I select that for the installation exe, or the exe that actually runs the game, or maybe both? Is there a checklist of things to try before resorting to using an imulator?? Thanks!

Ya, you could try compat mode but very few DOS games, if any, worked for me in XP, I can't recall. DOSBox and DroptoDOS are good. Easy to install and use.

Do other disks work in the drive, Compost? Are there any cracks or scrathes on the game disk? Have you tried washing the CD in a warm, slightly soapy solution? Have you tried cleaning the drive's reading heads? Last thing I can think of, is to check the games home site to see if there are any issues/patches with/for the game.

that sounds like an obvious graphics card issue, could possibly be defective or theres a driver conflict or some other conflict with your monitor, quickly try re-installing your video drivers. If that doesn't solve anything try contacting the manufacturer.

When ever i am in the middle of playing a game, all of a sudden the screen goes black for a few seconds and then when the display does come back up, i get this animated fuzzy screen with the game still running. the only way to get it back to normal is to Alt+Tab out of the game and maximize it again. But after a minute or so it comes back again. this happens to most of my games.

I have the very latest Nvidia drivers and still i get the problem.

First off I am new to all this
I have win xp home, and would like to play old games (such as Full Throttle)

I have tried the win xp compatability mode with no success.

Have downloaded scummvm and dos box but I simply dont understand how to use them.

I looked at vm ware which allows multiple systems such as 95 and 98 but I dont see how that works because of the more powerfull system I have (which I assume would be too powerfull for the old games) ie 1 gig ram 128 vid card athlon 3000+

I tried to buy a win 98 PC but it seems harder than I imagined.

One person was reluctant to sell me a reconditioned xp when I asked him to uninstall xp and put in win 98.

I am rather puzzled I thought it would be simple to play old games but apparently not so

I would appreciate any help to enable me to play these old classics. Such as what system I would need, Or help re VMSCUMM or DOS BOX

Thank You for your advice

Question: games not playing

Hello . What I need is a little advice...

I noticed that the computer was running slow so I clicked on my computer and went into performance and saw that only 37% resources were free. I called Dell and they made me go into msconfig and had me UNCHECK many many items so that all the icons that were in the system tray are now gone. No big deaL but we have noticed that some of the games that I downloaded from the web no longer work!. Like a game called Snood. I downloaded it again but to no avail. It says you have to have Direct X version 7 to play the game but upon searching my files I have version 8. Do I download their version and overwrite the newer version with the older one??? Will this screw anything up??? What to do. I can tell you that now when I right click on my computer and look into the performance tab there is now 83% resources FREE. Wow. But what do I do with the games that no longer work. What could be the reason that they no longer work? I even RECHECKED all the boxes that they had me recheck just to see if they would work and they still do not work??? What could have happened. I even did a system restore to the day before the unchecking of the startup items and still they did not work. Once again what do you suggest I do and how do I correct it.? thanks. Once again everything seems OK and even faster but these few games like "HOUSE of THE DEAD" and SNOOD which were downloaded from the web no longer work. Everything else is fine.

Answer:pc for playing old games

If I were you, I would build a basic home system with Windows Pro. You have the advantage of playing older games and a more advanced system. Though it may cost more, you may find Windows 95, 98 even ME, to be way too ancient. Unless you have grown up with those operating systems all of your life I'd understand.

160Gb harddrive

nividia geforce 8400 GS 256MB
2GB RAM
550W power supply

i also have windows vista on the computer

Answer:i am getting fps while playing games

Your 8400gs may be part of the problem you MIGHT want to upgrade that. The other problem you might be having is Windows vista is trying to run Windows Aero while you are playing those games. If you can tell us what version of vista you have... like home basic, home premium, Vista ultimate or business. Your processor is plenty fast. I can run vista on the Model under yours perfectly with 4gb ram. You may want to upgrade your RAM after a while because 2 GB might not be sufficient to multitask (well) in vista.

Question: games not playing

games not playing

Answer:games not playing

Hiya

Is this the version that you have of SNOOD:

http://www.snood.org/

It looks like a Demo, so maybe the timer has run out. Did it have a 30 day expire date?

Do you have anything left in the startup? Lets have a look:

Go to Run and type MSINFO32
On the left choose Software Enviroment, then Startup Programs. Copy/paste the list here.

Also, go here and download AddAware http://tomcoyote.com/lsindex.html

Download and run, ensuring that Deep Registry scan is enabled. Remove all except any references to Web3000 or new.net. If you're unsure, copy/paste the list here.

Also, whilst you're there, download and install RefUpdate to get the latest updates. Just click Connect.

Installing Direct7 over 8 won't do any good. In fact, not sure if it'll let you.

Also, where did you get HOUSE of THE DEAD from?

Regards

eddie

Insurgency for me... I'm kinda addicted.

Answer:What Games are you playing right now?

Mad Max and GTA V/Online mostly.

Waiting for the Hearts of Stone DLC to drop for Witcher 3 before I jump into that game. Might try some Batman Arkham Knight soon now that it's been patched up a bit.

Hi guys,
I'm planning to make an order on simpleshoppinglink.com buy I'm still thinking: I want to buy a powerful machine for playing new big games and decided to ask someone's thoughts about it. So what would you buy for playing games: PC or Laptop?
If you choose PC: i7 4790k or i7 4930k? or another proposes?
If you choose laptop: which one?

Answer:What would you buy for playing games?

An i5 with a good video card. Games are GPU intensive so you'll need a video card to handle the latest games with 8 gigs of memory.

I personally play on a PC. There are those who play on a laptop. It boils down to a personal preference. if you need the mobility you go laptop. However, I can build a PC significantly cheaper.

Question: playing games..

sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Is it normal for my cpu usage to be 100% while playing a game?

Answer:playing games..

I would say so. The way most new games do frame managament (time-based), it uses all resources available.

well i say games, ive only had a pc capable of playing decent games for a few days, so i downloaded a demo of doom 3 and i just wondered why my fans dont speed up whilst playing? it just seems to stay the same as when its not under load? is this because doom3 isnt "taxing" my system therefore nothing gets so hot to require fans speeding up?

Answer:when playing games...............

The only fan that is going to speed up is the cpu fan in most cases and You probably don't need it to speed up and that is why it isn't. Check your temps with speedfan or eversthome or I like people to use the software that comes will almost all boards. (then you are 100% sure the readings are accurate) What board do you have.?

Answer:BSOD while playing games.

Additional information.

I upgraded the system about a month ago with a new SSD for the primary hard drive, a new graphics card and added 8GB of RAM bringing to total RAM to 16GB. At this time I also changed the OS from windows 7 to windows 8.1 pro. I did this a completely clean install onto the new SSD, so it was not an upgrade of the existing OS install.

Everything ran fine for the first few weeks, then I started getting the BSOD. Each BSOD had a different error message, sometimes it was a memory management error, sometimes an irql_not_less_or_equal error, Security access violation, and then the most useless one "unknown". I have run the memory test a couple of times and even pulled the new RAM as a test. I have doubled checked all the drivers to ensure they are the latest ones for the MB sound /Ethernet and the video card. As well as the latest drivers for my gaming keyboard and mouse.

I did a repair of the windows 8.1 pro from the DVD, and it didn't help. Only other step I can think of is to do a complete wipe and re-install.

I am at a real loss as to what to try next.

Taking a look at the context record regarding the exception that threw the bug check, we were setting the lower 8 bits of EAX to the value stored at address rcx+28.

rcx is null as it's x64 and is volatile, and we won't be able to go deep enough to check the lower 8 bits as it's a small dump.

I have a very good pc , Win XP etc etc.I am trying to fix up an old PC just now with Win 98 so that I can play the old DOS based games like Stonekeep etc .This isnt going well at all.I would like any advice to enable me to play the old games on Win XP. Without mucking up my new PC . Thanks .

Answer:Solved: Playing old games

You can use a good DOS emulator for winXP. You wouldn't even have to worry about soundcard incompatibilities for it even simulates old soundblaster cards used in old DOS games . A *VERY* good DOS emulator is called DOSBOX. You can find it at :

http://dosbox.sourceforge.net

You will have no problems playing your old games once you've figured out how the "MOUNT" option works. If you can not figure it out, make a new DOSbox thread where we can help you and all the other people wanting to play some of them great odies Have fun!!!

Hi,
I have a problem with my PC resetting while playing games.
I play final fantasy XI on my PC, i am always getting a reset alot.
Sometimes the game just crashes back to windows but most of the time the pc just resets.
This problem seems to be random, sometimes it will crash or reset maybe playing for 5 minutes other times i could leave the game on for hours without a problem.
My Pc is,
AMD Athlon 1800+
K7 Triton Nforce 2 Motherboard (Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2)
Nvidia Geforce FX5200 Video Card
256MB DDR RAM
I think it power supply is 300w, but not quite sure.
DVD rom, DVD burner
2 Network Cards
80GB Seagate HDD.

I thought it was possible that i could have a cooling problem, i am leaving the side cover off my case but the problem still occurs.
I have had the same set up in my PC and have been playing FFXI for the past 6 months with no problem, only recently i started having this problem.

Any idea on what could be causing this would be great.

Thank You.

Answer:PC reseting while playing games

Are you using the latest motherboard and video drivers? Have you checked for a patch or update for Final Fantasy? Make sure there is no dust in the power supply or processor heatsink. The 5200's seem to be very troublesome. A faulty or cheap power supply could be the cause. Install Motherboard Monitor and it will tell you your system temps.

Hello!

I recently got a new laptop (MSI GP62 2QE Leopard Pro) that is still under warranty, and when I play certain games, I sometimes get a BSOD with the error message WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. It occurs when I play some Steam game or use an emulator, and it appears to happen randomly. Sometimes it happens but other times no error occurs.

Thank you!

Answer:WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR When Playing Games

Please uninstall MSI software, MSI software is known for causing bluescreens (sometimes).

Please update/reinstall Malwarebytes and Norton, both are using old drivers.

You might need to prepare for returning your laptop, a 0x124 is known for being caused by hardware errors.

Sorry for posting again, but for some reason, this keeps happening to me. I thought i fixed it today because i played two games of league without it crashing. After a few hours, i was going to play another game, but after entering the match from the loading screen, my computer screen went black and another blue screen appeared. I reformatted my computer before because of this problem, updated my computer right after ( some updates failed), updated my graphics card (im pretty sure), and reinstalled the game multiple times.

So over the past maybe 2 days ive been having some issues with random (sort of) bsod crashes. I just recently replaced my vid card (around a month and a half ago) with a gtx 970. Ive only tried this with one game however it seems space engineers causes it and it takes a good 10 min to crash, the only weird thing in this whole deal is last night, i was doing some graphics work in paint.net and i had youtube running(if that will make any difference) and it crashed on me then too, same screen as space engineers. A buddy of mine said he has the same issue (his started a few days before mine did) and had mention something about nvidia drivers and windows ten not getting along with each other with direct X. I was wondering if there is a fix or workaround for this. I also copied the details of the crash from windows.

So I get those crashes where my screen freezes and then goes dark ( lost signal). It happens at random with Blade and Soul , and happens every 5 minutes with World of Warcraft.

This started like 2 months ago ( only found this forum today , thanks for that) , before that the screen would just flash and I'd get the "display driver stopped responding and recovered".

Yesterday ( 02/16/2016) I got 5 crashes and I got 1 today.

What I already tried:
A lot of different versions of AMD drivers ( using DDU to install the new ones)
Reset windows 10 on a lot of occasions
Removed Windows 10 auto updater.
Tried the amd support forums ( it only made matters worse)
Tried the World of warcraft support forums ( also only made matters worse)

Here is the dump file:

Suggestions while you wait on a proper BSOD analyzer to read your DMP file. Check for heat related or voltage issues, monitor temps for GPU, CPU and fan speeds with HWInfo choose correct 32bit or 64bit http://www.hwinfo.com/

Would be best if you can monitor them within game and can be done with combinations of 2 software, HWInfo listed above and MSI Afterburner or Riva Tuner and MSI Afterburner.

Riva Tuner

When you first received flash in screen and "display driver stopped responding and recovered", did it list any particular file like here ?

Hi,

I just recently built a gaming pc and I am having trouble with BSOD: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. The only time that these errors happen are when I am playing a taxing game like Far Cry 4 or Assassins Creed. It usually happens between 10 to 45 min of playing. I have updated all of my drivers including my Bios. I have also looked at my windows updates and noticed that there are a few that failed. I don't know if they are important but I just thought I would let you know. I'd be grateful for any help. I'm pretty sure those are my dump files below.

Thanks,

Answer:BSOD While playing games

Hi Justin & welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-
WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)
A fatal hardware error has occurred. Parameter 1 identifies the type of error source that reported the error. Parameter 2 holds the address of the
WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure that describes the error condition.

So, let's check the parameter 2 of the dump file -

Hello,

Before I start, sorry if there is something wrong with my thread . So on my question, recently (after upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit) my friend's PC started to suffer from BSOD. The problem occurs only when he plays games which require more GPU and CPU power. I assume that it is a hardware issue but after all I can only assume since the BSOD was not occuring when he was using XP. So I got his dump files, any help or trace where the problem might be is appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Here is a faint overview of his system:

CPU: AMD Athlon Dual Core 2.*GHz
RAM: 4GB DDR2
GPU: nVidia GeForce GTX 4*0 (it is below 460 I think)

* - Where I am not sure

Regards

Hello again,

No one has replied yet. I just need somekind of a trace where might be the problem (hardware component or whatever). The culprit I suspect is the RAM but still I am not fully sure. Awaiting response.

Regards

Hey, guys. It's my first post here on this forum, so forgive me if I miss some things out.

I bought my current PC in October 2011. For the most part it's a great system, but for the past couple of months I've been getting sporadic blue screens when playing certain games, particularly Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Mafia II, and a few others. Some games run fine with no issues, but the three I've listed are the biggest culprits. I can play for indefinite periods when the screen will suddenly go black for several seconds and the system automatically reboots.

In light of this issue, I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling and updating drivers, tried completely wiping all old drivers in case of a conflict or corruption problem and then reinstalling the latest ones, but to no avail.

My system specs are:

Windows 7 Premium 64-bit
AMD Phenom II X4 955
AMD Radeon HD 6750
4 GB RAM
ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 board

Details I got from the blue screen were:

Recently I have been getting BSODs while playing games on my computer, but not during normal use. Most recently it has been the game Roguelands.

I originally thought it might be a memory problem, so I ran memtest for around 10 passes. Memtest did not turn up with anything, so I updated my graphics drivers to see if that was it. However, I am still getting BSODs while playing games. Any help would be appreciated

Please fill out your System Specs more fully, especially mother board information.

How to fill out System Specs for tenforums.

See here: System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums

Of major interest is the Manufacture and full model number of the computer if purchased or the system board if custom built.

One dump indicates a problem with your mouse.

Hey,
I've been getting these BSODs just recently when I play CS GO and WoW. It won't BSOD when I watch anime for like 6 hours or if I just leave it on or play league of legends. I thought it was a driver issue at first since I updated to the latest Nvidia Beta driver but I switched back to the latest non-beta driver and it BSOD'd again. Then I thought it might be BIOS since I changed some USB settings in BIOS in order to fix my Razer Ouroboros that didn't work sometimes...
At random times when I play CS GO it'd just turn into a black screen, sometimes the sound will still work, but it usually dies after a few seconds. Sometimes the screens turn red or other colors o.o. There was once where it fixed itself and started working again, not sure how...
I tried to monitor the CPU's temperature and ran some HDD tests, still not sure what the problem is.
Oh, should probably mention that I've been too lazy to put new thermal paste on the CPU, it's been like.. 8 months? But the temperature doesn't go that high so Idk if it's an overheating issue o.O
Anyways, here's the stuff.
Thanks guys
