It seems I cannot use Bluetooth with a new Soundbar and my smart TV as I had expected, but I understand I may be able to give the TV BT functionality with either a USB dongle or transmitter? So far the dongles I have viewed are for a PC, not a TV; and transmitters my have the same drawback as when I use the AUX line in cable, in that inserting the jack stops the TV's own speakers from working.

Advice would be welcome.

Answer:Bluetooth dongle or transmitter?

If your adding a sound bar, why would you need the TV sound.
I used optical out on my NON smart TV to get the sound to the sound bar.

I bought a simple generic bluetooth transmitter for my Acer laptop...

http://www.frys.com/product/5771862?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

I own/use one of these:

http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phone-accessories/lg-HBS750

I would like to play music from my laptop and listen on my LG head set... is that possible? I can't seem to figure out "how" to make the connection.

any help appreciated,

Answer:getting bluetooth transmitter to work on my laptop

Have you paired the devices yet? Bluetooth devices must first be paired before they can be used with each other. I don't know the specifics of your BT dongle and the headset so can't give detailed instructions on how to pair them. Basically, you need to put the BT dongle in search mode and put the headset into discoverable mode so they can locate and connect to each other.

Once paired, the headset should show up as a Playback Device in Windows. Right-click on the speaker icon in the System Tray and select "Playback devices". Find the headset listed there and slect it to make it the Playback device.

I'm in a situation where I can't use my phone at work and I want to listen to radio with my bluetooth earbuds. I have a desktop radio clock and I am currently using an FM transmitter plugged into its headphone jack to get the job done. But the FM transmitter runs on its own battery and has to be recharged every night.
Does anyone know of a desktop radio that actually has the ability to transmit to a bluetooth headset on its own?

Hi folks.
Not specifically a Windows question although it does have some relevance too if using a laptop say.

I've got a Blue tooth transmitter which can transmit analog or the optical output audio from the TV as a blue tooth signal. The TV itself doesn't have blue tooth capabilities. I'm trying to get rid of messy cables all over the place and using Wireless speakers seems a good way to go --TV stuff doesn't have to be ultimate hi-fi so blue tooth is perfectly good enough here and the DAC's in the speaker set are more than adequate.

Now what I need is how do I pair that with blue tooth speakers - obviously there's no "Screen" or keyboard on the speakers !!!!

I'm sure people on this forum have done this type of thing. The TV itself doesn't have blue tooth but the transmitter seems to function OK (red led and blue Bluetooth TX - transmit) lights on. So how do I pair this thing with the speakers ???

I know my phone can be used to scan for blue tooth devices but I want to pair the TV with a speaker not the phone.

Any windows apps or android stuff for this purpose.

Cheers
jimbo

Question: Headphone socket

I have a Gateway MA7 laptop which has been ok for some years. There is now no sound output from headphone socket. Speaker sound ok. Have I pressed a mute button, if so, where is it?

Answer:Headphone socket

Hi Ron,

I honestly doubt this is related to a software 'mute' of sorts as your onboard sound is spot-on. I'm thinking that maybe your connection is obstructed - Perhaps you have dust in there? What I would try is turning the speakers up so that you can hear plenty of 'White noise' and then plugging them in / out to see if you get any crackling. That, and I'd try a second, 'known good' set of speakers.

Cheers.

Answer:DVD ROM- NO HEADPHONE SOCKET!!

I recently bought my computer from Evesham and I'm fairly happy with it, there's only one thing that's really bugging me at the moment and that's my DVD ROM.The manual states quite clearly that the DVD ROM has both a headphone socket & volume control, however the one installed on my machine does not. When I contacted Evesham, they were very unhelpful, but suggested I check my hardware devices. Can anyone tell me if it's necessary to have a headphone socket & volume control on a DVD ROM, as I've noticed that some PCs don't contain either. Also is this matter worth pursuing????

Question: Headphone socket

Hi there,I have an Acer Aspire 5532, and I have noticed that the small metal piece, which is normally in the headphone socket, is missing. This causes no sound unless I hold the headphone connector in a certain place.I was wondering what kind of job is needed; whether I need to send it of to be repaired, or if it is only small job which could be carried out at home?A picture of the socket can be found here click here Thanks in advanceHarry

Answer:Headphone socket

Hi HarryIt looks as if the outer connector has broken off. I doubt that you would be able to repair the socket and would need to replace it. These are normally soldered to the motherboard so you would need to dismantle the laptop to get to it and source a new one, take out the old one and solder in the new one. Sourcing one may be a bit tricky but they are fairly standard and you may be able to get one from Maplins.

Answer:Samsung TV - No headphone socket.

After 30 minuets of reading and searching my TV I eventually found mine.
Look at the back of your TV, if you find small protruding squares with a small hole one will be the headphone socket maybe the one at the top.

I would like to enjoy my online gaming through headphones at night...my problem is I don't have a socket. I have an MSI P4 2.4GHZ SIS648 MAX motherboard with onboard AC97 sound. Connected to this is a Creative 4.1 sound system, which I am more than happy with. Therefore I don't really want to purchase a seperate sound card.I feel stupid asking this but is there a headphone socket type product that I could just plug into a spare PCI slot or something. Or do I need to buy a sound card?If I need to buy a soundcard, could you recommend something that is relatively cheap and will be as good or better than my onboard AC97 / creative system (which is pretty good I think). Thanks Paul

You can use the normal lodspeaker socket. If you want to have both connected at the same time, then you can get a "doubler, with one plug and two sockets, from almost ant TV/radio type shop.

hi all,

i have a sony vaio laptop, the model number is pcg-7d1m. i'm having a problem with the headphone socket. it used to work fine but its been getting progressively worse over the last few months. basically i now have to wiggle around like crazy in the hope of getting sound through it, and if i'm lucky enough to get anything it only works in one headphone. the same happens when i plug in my speakers. it's driving me mad as i listen to music and watch a lot of movies on my laptop.

i've hunted around the forum for possible solutions. it doesn't look good to be honest. i've tried cleaning the socket but nothing seems to work. i've tried a few different sets of headphones and get the same response.

so i'm wondering what is the best alternative. maybe i should get an external usb soundcard? if i do this will i still be able to plug in my headphones into it? could someone recommend a decent cheap one. i live in the uk.

i also saw in one of the posts that someone mentioned a usb device that simply acts as a new headphone socket. did i read right? can i buy one of these?

sorry for the drawn out post, but this has been driving me mad.

thanks for any replies.

sophie.

Do laptop/notebook computers have a standard o/p impedance? If so, what is it? I asked the suppliers of my notebook what it's o/p impedance is but they don't know!

Answer:Headphone socket output impedance.

Normally the output should match 32O heaphones. Because of the low output the headphone impedance is not that importent, you can use any impedance up to 1kO or more.If its line output it will be 10kO which is no good for phones.

Sounds like you will have to get 'behind' the socket and push the pin out with a small object...like a needle or straight pin.

My Portege Z30-A-108 (running Windows 7) has a single mini-jack socket for headphone/microphone. To use Skype I want to plug in my microphone/headset combination, but like all that I've seen it has separate mini-jacks for headphone and microphone. If I plug in the headset there's no microphone, while if I plug in the microphone there's no sound, as the PC speakers are muted.

I've discovered that if I plug neither in, but go to Control Panel -> Sound -> Recording, click on Microphone and then Properties -> Listen -> Listen to this device, then the PC's own microphone seems to be activated, and sound picked up by it comes out of the speakers together with sounds from the PC.

Is that the best way to do things?

Answer:Portege Z30-A-108 - Use of headphone/microphone socket

Your notebook model has one single port, designed for usage of monaural headset.
If you want to use usual headset with two jacks I recommend you to use USB Stereo Audio Adapter.

Google a bit around and you will find a lot of them. It is not expensive so I think it is the best solution for you.

Answer:Headphone socket on Creative DTT2200

unfortunately there is no headphone socket supplied.the usual method is to unplug the front speakers from the soundcard at the back of PC, and plug headphones in there (the green socket).you'll have to turn the other speakers off, at the 'remote' volume control/on/off switch.you can buy a 'splitter' to enable both the Fr speakers and the headphones to be plugged in.

Hello everyone,
Is it possible to attach/run a 3.5mm jack extension cable from the “headphone out” socket of a portable DAB radio and connect it to the “headphone in” socket of an analogue Sony radio cassette recorder so that I can hear the DAB radio sounds through the speakers or not?
If this cannot be done, apart from buying a new portable DAB radio, please also advise as to how it can be done using the cable method above.
Thanks.
Regards

Answer:Line in cable from DAB radio to headphone socket?

Sorry but I don't understand the question - why would there be a "headphone in" socket? Headphones are output devices and not input devices. There could be a microphone in socket on your Sony radio cassette and you could use that but the difference in levels might give you distortion as headphone signal levels are much higher than microphone levels. And even then I am not sure you could directly hear the output without recording it to tape first.

I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite P200 and I just now, broke the headphone out socket. The headphones were plugged into the socket then I was getting up out of my chair and I stepped on the cable and it bent the inside of the socket and now it all loose and wont work.

It?s my brother?s computer so I need to know how I can still be able to plug my headphones into the computer now that the headphone socket is broken. I tried in the control panel to use the line-in as the headphone socket, but I cant or don?t know how to change it so that it outputs the computers audio.
So how do I do this? Do I need a Realtek driver or something?
Help!?

I need to configure/change the line-in socket to line-out or headphone out, as the headphone socket is broken/bent and wont work/no sound.

Please how do I do this?

Unfortunately, but this is not possible? I mean the audio-in receives the signals and the headphone jack (audio-out) sends the audio signals?.
You will be not able to send a audio signal using the audio-in line port!!!

Maybe you can use some kind of USB headphones? ie: Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Headset

I have a strange problem with my S100 (XP). Sound plays through the laptop speakers without problem but as soon as I plug in headphones then I hear nothing. The socket appears fine as the laptop speakers automatically mute.

I have reinstalled the SoundMax drivers and checked the volume control for all devices. I can not locate a software based on/off for the headphones. I have changed the speaker type to headphones but without success.

This problem exists with various media players - WMP and Realplayer.

I have also checked the audio codecs and legacy audio drivers.

I have plugged the laptop into my home cinema amp and on max volume you can faintly hear the music.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Answer:Headphone Socket not working on my Portege S100

Hi

If the external speakers are off when you use headphone does not mean that headphone socket is not defective. According to your description I presume that there are two possibilities. Either is socket defective or the volume control dial is set to minimum.

Check also control volume dial of your headphones (if available).

Hi all.
I am brand new to this forum and Windows 7 so please bear with me as at 73 years old I have never been able to learn computer jargon, my computer is a very old self build that I have extensively upgraded and because the case did not have any front ports at all, not even a headphone socket I have just installed a Star Tech 3.5 inch drive bay multi-port panel which I have already got installed on my Windows XP self built PC which works a treat with a similar motherboard.

My problem is that after connecting the HD Audio Socket to the HD Audio plug on the motherboard it is totally dead, the rear audio works fine as does a headphone/mike connected to the front or rear USB.

Can any one help me please and remember to write in plain English and not computer jargon please.

Cheers

Answer:front panel headphone socket is dead

obviously, you'll need to make sure that you have the correct drivers for your soundcard, and that they are up to date..

it appears that you may have to update the BIOS, as well - in order to facilitate the hardware changes you've made:
ASRock > Products > Motherboard > G31M-S R2.0 > Download

I'm no expert with the BIOS and I don't usually mess with it, unless I know exactly what I'm doing,
so hopefully someone with more knowledge of these things will give you some good (**one syllable-type) advice on how to proceed..

best not to proceed unless you have good advice on hand...

**no offence, know exactly what you mean..!!

Hi,

Ive had an accident which involved the laptop falling on the floor with the headphone jack plugged in. the rest of the laptop seems ok, but putting a jack in the socket doesnt stop the speakers working, and the audio coming out of it sounds echoey; sounds like the stereo is canceling out which means something has shorted.

not sure i want to open up the laptop just yet; but looks like the jack sockets can be replaced. I think its still under warranty but the accident was my fault.

any thoughts? where can i get spare parts from?

Many thanks
James

Answer:Satellite R830 - Headphone socket replacement

Hi James

What can you do is to use Google and search if you can find replacement parts but I?m pretty sure it can be pretty complicated. Repair is also not so easy. Do you want to do it alone?
I mean disassembling procedure is also pretty tricky and must/should be done by authorized personal only. Small mistake can ends with broken plastic parts and different holders.

In my opinion you should not do all this. Buy small USB Audio Adapter w/Mic Jack and problem is solved.

I have just bought a new Audigy 2 sound card - but i have a problem....

Socket cable has 10 connectors, with one blanked out with a plastic pin.
Pattern on plug is like this;
O/OOO
OOOOO
Where / is the pin location;
Sound card has a SPDIF connector, with the following pattern;
OOOOO
/OOO/
Where / are missing pins.
To connect the two, I removed the plastic pin from the cable socket, so it fits, but does not provide any sound to external socket.
I tried turning the cable header 180", but still to nop avail!
How do I get it to work?!!!

I have this Compaq Presario A900, i bought it just under a year ago. Approx March/April last year.

Recently the headphone socket/jack whatever you call it has been playing up.
It has always done it but not caused as much problems as it does now.

It used to just make a fuzzy noise if I moved the headphones around in the socket (like twirled it). Now, if I do it or even touch the headphone a bit it immediately turns to speakers and its like as if the headphones were disconnected.

Does anyone have any clue how I could like reattach it more or tighten it or something? It's annoying me since I don't have money to get it repaired and I love music.

P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong place or if I've typed it wrong. I'm new.

Answer:Headphone socket/jack broken/loose

I have a new A60 (well three or four weeks old) I work in the music industry and need to process music on the laptop. All has been fine until trying to dump to an analogue device from the audio output. The digital noise is incredibly loud! Its there all the time but just touching the mouse pad doubles the ammount of noise.

Through headphones alone its not too noticeable but through a pre-amp, well its just unuseable.

Is there anyway around this or do I need to dump the A60 and buy a ThinkPad?

Answer:A60 excessive digital noise from headphone/ouput socket

Hello

Hi Guys,
The audio / headphone jack on my Dell 17R- 5720 has broken and the extra movement in the port causes the audio to cut in and out.
Does anyone know the part number for this specific socket or audio board?
Thanks,
Mark

Answer:Dell 17R-5720 Headphone Socket / Board Part Number?

Hi Speedsurfer,
The headphone / Mic jack is on the motherboard. If you want to replace the jack then you need to replace the complete motherboard.
Depending on your current system configuration and OS installed, the part number can be provided.
Please click my DELL-username and send me a Private Message with the Dell Service Tag number so that I can check.

Not sure how or why it broke off. At first it was just dangling near the front of the socket, so I tried to get it out with tweasers. That failed, I just pushed it back further in. Now it is basically at the back of the socket and I can't get any sound out of my T400 beacuse it is running through that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated pls Is there any way to get back there by taking the laptop apart? What are my options? I'll try anything!

I can't use my bluetooth headphone and wired earpiece simultaneously. whenever I connect my bluetooth headphone to my laptop, the wired earpiece stops working.I'm having Dell XPS L501X with Realtek High Definition Audio. Is there any way to make them work simultaneously?

Answer:Can't use bluetooth headphone with earpiece!!

I don't think there is because usually when you plug in a headset or turn on a bluetooth headset it disables the speakers, so I suspect that bluetooth essentially does the same to your wired headset - probably nothing that can be done about it unless you happen to find a setting in the realtek control panel that disables the 'feature'."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." Hi there,
I am using two different bluetooth headsets to connect to my computer. They
pair and connect just fine and even work with Skype. The problem is Vista
(business) disconnects the headset about every 30-60 seconds. Does anyone
have any ideas of how to keep the connection stable?
thanks!

Answer:Bluetooth Headphone disconnects

Are you using vendor's bluetooth drivers? If so, remove it, reboot and let your system install the Microsoft bluetooth stack. You may have to uninstall your hardware manually too (from device manager)

I have a Dell Latitude E6410 that finds and apparently "connects" to my Rocketfish RF-MAB2 bluetooth headphones. Hi Guys,

I am trying to buy a new "sports headphone" to be used at the gym. Unfortunately, where I am, I only either have bluetooth 2.0 + NFC or Bluetooth 4.0 (only 1 or 2 options) without NFC.

I am really keen on NFC, as I have a S4 and really keen to try NFC, would really appreciate any feedback on this? Is BT2.0 with NFC a better option in terms of easy of use or a simple BT3.0 or BT4.0 without NFC be a safer bet?

I am not too sure how stable the NFC technology now is, so thats my only concern.

Would appreciate some feedback on this.

Thanks

Answer:NFC or bluetooth sports headphone?

Since NFC only works up to a few inches, it must be used just for the setup. The Bluetooth would then be used as the link between the headphones and phone.

Firstly not sure if I am in the right forum because I have no idea what this problem relates to sorry.
I am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit

I bought a bluetooth dongle (no particular brand) that did not come with software disc. I plugged in and had problems so googled and found the following thread and followed the instructions. It worked and I transferred a file to my mobile phone.

'Download the 'Windows Mobile Device Center' ( current version is 6.1 ) which you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx
this works for both Vista and Windows 7. I've tried it on both.

- Install the downloaded software but it may not look like it worked on Windows 7 PCs. Vista automatically configures the settings on the bluetooth devices but for those who have Windows 7, here are the things you should do:

- Go to 'Device Manager' from 'Control Panel' -Or- just right-click on Computer Icon and choose 'Properties' and then click on 'Device Manager'.

- You'll see an 'Unknown Device' named 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device'
- Right-Click it and click on "Update Driver Software" -Or- anyway you find it easy to bring up the Update driver window.

- Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software" button.

- Click "Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on my computer".

- Select 'Blue... Read more

When you can't send a file from PC to a device because Win8 gives a special error saying:
(This worked in Win8 and probably will work in Win7, too.)

Bluetooth file transfer not completed
Windows was unable to transfer some files
An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions

Go to Task Manager, Services, find "bthserv" in the list (it is a bluetooth support service.) right-click on "bthserv" and then click "Go to details" then this will take you to another tab and highlights an .exe file (svchost.exe), right-click and End Process it. Go back to your file and try to sent it. This time it will work.

I have a Insignia bluetooth wireless headphones that I want to use to listen to my Viso VO37L flat screen TV. So I put a Soundblaster Audigy soundcard in my spare computer and connected the TV headphone jack to the input line of the soundcard. I can now have the TV audio playing through the computers speakers. The problem is that no matter what I try I can't get the signal to the headphones. I have WIDCOMM bluetooth 5.1.0.3900 software installed on the computer and it works fine ,I can hear all Window XP sounds as well as the media player and other software audio. I tried using a few recording software programs thinking I could use the monitoring feature to hear the in-line input, but even though I could record the input and hear the replay I couldn't hear the monitor. This whole Idea seemed so simply but not I am thinking that "you can't get there from here". If anyone knows what I am missing I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

I own a macbook pro and runs windows 7 by bootcamp. The headphone is JBL e40bt.
I tried to use my bluetooth headphone it had always failed and it said there was no driver for "bluetooth peripheral device."
I then downloaded the ASUS driver thing from here: Can't find drivers for bluetooth headset - Windows 7 Help Forums
And the problem was solved.

But now when I connect my headphone, it is only good immediately after I connect it. As long as I play something continuously the headphone won't switch off by itself and nothing's wrong. But if there's no audio input from the computer to the headphone for like a minute and then I start playing music, the audio is skipped. I have to reconnect the device for it to return normal.

Please help me. It is quite annoying. It's okay if I am playing games and stuff but I when I'm playing music I can't let it stop.

Hi, I am having problems getting a Bluetooth headset to operate. Having connected and paired (I believe), the device shows in Devices and Printers. In Device Manager, there are three listings for it (Aukey model EP-B4). Each listing says there are no drivers installed. Have tried updating each and all but after an age for Windows searching for drivers I had to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to close it.
I have contacted the manufacturer many times but so far no results - they repeatedly requested from where I bought it and item number.
I am using Win7 SP1 with all updates current.

The headset works well with my mobile phone and tablet (Android 5.1).

Any help much apprecitated.

Hi.I've been lurking for a bit and have had most of my questions answered and issues solved bythis fine community. Thank you!My problem is that I can add my bt headphones (I've tried two different sets) in the "add device"option, but once I shut the bt device (headphones in my case) off and then turn them back onagain the sound continues to come from the tablet or stereo speakers (which ever I'm using atthe time) and the sound won't switch to the bt headphones automatically. I must manually go theSound settings in Control Panel options and select the bt headphone to use them again. As ofright now I've got a shortcut to the Sound options on my desktop. Now this isn't a deal breaker forme, but there's got to be an easier way! LOLS!Any suggestions? Thanks! And for the record I have no wifi issues and I've upgraded to 8 gigs of ram so I'm keeping this!!!

Recently bought new laptop and wanted to use microphone for speech programme, then noticed- Oops there is no mic socket!
Looked everywhere but no! Then found out apparently this is a new development, the new thing seems to be its just one socket "Combined"..I thought Oh no this will be a F*up...and it was!
I got normal headphones/mic with separate mic and headphone plugs so tried plugging in the mic plug into the "combined" socket and yeah Microphone will not work! Spent ages trying to fix it, using audio manager etc but nothing Ahhhrgg!
Why is it when these idiots design things they invariably F* it up and make things worse?
Bloody designers they seem to have no common sense at all. The old system of separate sockets worked just fine, they should have remembered the old saying- if it aint broke dont fix it!
Now will have to spend the rest of my bloody life trying to get the damn Mic to work ,along with thousands of other fellow sufferers! Why Oh why do these idiots always make things worse...very frustrating
So anyone got any ideas how to solve this, before I bang head against wall?

I didn't know where to put this, or what kind of problem this is.
I have a pair of Bluetooth headphones and an ASUS bluetooth USB adapter.
When I turn on the Bluetooth headset, I have to manually go into the Sound settings and change the "Default" to the Asus Adapter.
Though ZId love to know if there is a fix to this, it's easy enough to live with. The thing I cant stand though, is when I do switch any default device in the Sound settings, I also have to close all programs that were open when making the switch. Otherwise, the programs (like iTunes and Media Player Classic) will contiue coming out of the computer speakers, or whatever the previous default was. Ive only had the ASUS Bluetooth adapter, and havent been able to try another adapter, but I have used different bluetooth Headsets/Headphones, and they all react the same. The program also exhibited on Windows 7, so I doubt its OS specific.
Is there any way to fix this, because this is absolutely annoying.

Answer:Problem: Have to restart programs when connecting bluetooth Headphone.

Did you ever find an answer? I just found this post and I'm having the exact issue. And agreed; very annoying.

Edit: Just found this page on reddit. It works! Swich the audio playback in iTunes to Direct Sound rather than Windows Audio.

The sound quality on paired headphones is terrible. There is a background, high pitched whine being transmitted that makes it unbearable to listen.
A wired pair of headphone works fine. The headphones work fine when paired with my Note 4 & Sony TV. A second pair of bluetooth headphones exhibits exactly the same problem, so it is 100% definitely the laptop that is the problem.
Does anybody know how the fix this please?

I followed a number of the steps in this thread : Bluetooth headset pairs but won't connect, not avail as playback devic , specifically the post from 11th Dec 2014 . Computer has been restarted multiple times.

I've attached an image of what I see. I can connect the headphones to the laptop, but can't listen to music. I also cannot set the headphones to default playback.

Atm, I'm listening through an aux cable, but any additional trouble shooting steps would be appreciated.

Hi Satellite users,

I recently had a problem getting my Toshiba Satellite P50t-B running Windows 10 to detect (and hence connect) to my Sony MDR-XB50BS Bluetooth Headphones. The symptom of the problem was that the "MDR-XB50BS" device didn't appear in the list of available devices on the Windows Activity Centre "Connect" screen, nor in the Windows Settings -> Devices -> Bluetooth and other devices -> Add a device screen. Since the device never appeared, I couldn't connect to it.

The solution to the problem turned out to be upgrading my Toshiba Satellite BIOS from version 1.10 to BIOS version 1:50 available on the Drivers & Updates tab of the Toshiba Satellite Support site. The release notes mention a Bluetooth issue being corrected in version 1.40 and while I can't say for certain that this is the same issue I encountered, updating the BIOS was the last thing that I tried before the problem went away, and it's reasonable to expect that a relatively new technology like Bluetooth might have had early implementation bugs.

The other point to note is that if you've already paired the headphones with another device, like I had with my iPhone, then you have to hold the power button down for 7 seconds at power on in order to enter Bluetooth pairing mode first time you try to connect it to the Satellite.

I hope this helps someone someday!

Cheers,
Graham

Have you tested other BT (bluetooth) devices on the Vostro 1540? What BT device is installed in the Vostro 1540? What operating system are you running? You should check with iball- Chat for support and setup of their product. Assuming you read through its User Manual for troubleshooting steps.

With different Bluetooth Stacks, I tested Toshiba's, it works, but other issues occur.
Previously used devices may not connect at all, because they seem to be already registered to Toshibas Stack, but not working at all. Any suggestions or ideas?

X220 tablet (about 2.5 yrs old, out of warranty) was working completely fine last night; this morning, no sound is coming from the laptop, either through speakers or through headphones (audio jack).  I am, however, able to get sound through a bluetooth-connected speaker. I had hoped this was a software issue.  Tried uninstalling/installing all sound devices, updating BIOS, updating drivers, system restore to previous date, rebooting a million times, etc.  No joy. When I run the sound troubleshooter, it says that no speaker, headset, or headphone appears to be plugged in.  The sound icon has a little red circle/white X next to it.  When I try to plug in headphones, nothing happens -- does not seem to detect the event.  When I press the mute and volume buttons on the tablet, no response. Also, under Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers, it lists only "Bluetooth Hands-free Audio" and "Intel Display Audio".  I don't think either of these is the normal X220 audio driver, is it?  What else should be there?  I downloaded the Conexant Audio Software from Lenovo's site (this is what came up when I searched for audio drivers for the X220 tablet), and tried to install it, but halfway through, it said the install failed because it couldn't locate the device for the driver. This sounds like it's a hardware problem -- any way to verify?  Also, which piece of hardware exactly?  Is it the sound card ... Answer:X220 tablet - sound suddenly stopped working from speakers and headphone (but not bluetooth)

If it doesn't appear in the device manager, it sounds to me like the sound chip (codec) or some support chip has died. I'm not sure how exact you want the answer to be. I think on that model, the codec is a Conexant 20672. If I am correct, the normal fix is to replace the motherboard. Many x220 machines are still under warranty. If yours is, now would be a good time to use it. You can check here:http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-service/warranty-status/default.page?

Is the bluetooth function on the Nokia Purity Pro by Monster (over-ear) compatible with a Nokia Lumia 520 cellphone?
I mean, can I use the headphones wirelessly?
Thanks in advance.
