Google Chrome - Autofill user name and password

Question: Google Chrome - Autofill user name and password

I use Windows 7 Home (64 bit). When I first started using Google Chrome and I logged on to various sites a question would pop up at the top of the page asking me if I wanted to save this log in. I normally clicked yes.
This question has stopped appearing and only some of the web sites auto log in.
Can anyone please tell me how to get this facility back.
Thank you.

Preferred Solution: Google Chrome - Autofill user name and password

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Google Chrome - Autofill user name and password

Chrome settings - advanced settings and under privacy check that enable autofill and offer to save passwords are checked.

I use Google Chrome and until recently had no problems with it, but recently AutoFill insists on changing the UK phone number format from the 01xxx to the international +44xxx format. I can't find any way of making it stay as 01xxx as most web forms won't accept the +44xxx format. Any ideas?

Google Chrome 5 Autofill
The Google Chrome web browser, at least the developer releases, have lately been getting several new features of which at least one has caused some controversy. The Translate feature of the web browser caused some Google Chrome users to criticize the way the developers added the feature to the web browser. Back then there was no option to disable the feature. This has changed so that it is now possible to complete disable the Google Translate option in the Chrome web browser.
The Chrome developers have now added an autofill feature to the Google Chrome 5 browser which is enabled by default but can be disabled right away in the web browser if it is not used by the Internet user.

Answer:Google Chrome 5 Autofill

I just saw the auto fill pop-up and was wondering where it came from . I'll have to test it out and see how it works. The translator seems pretty good though.

On this laptop's Win-7 system, I have two (both privileged) user-accts.

While logged in as one user, I installed Google's Chrome browser. It
put itself in the menu-system, so it can be started by that user, and
it works perfectly normally, as one would expect.

But, I EXPECTED that installation to be 'system-wide', and apparently
it is NOT.

When I log in as the other user, Google Chrome is NOT visible anywhere under
'All Programs'. Even stranger, when I went into Control Panel, under
Programs list of installed software for the system, I do NOT see it
there anywhere either. (I looked alphabetically under both 'C' (Chrome)
and 'G' (Google), but I don't see it.)

Any idea what might be going on?

[Does Windows-7 have some new way of privately installing software for
just a single user, that wasn't available on Vista or XP?]

Answer:Google Chrome usable by only ONE user

When entering the first few letters of a site, Chrome always autofills with the following:  "-orlando.craigslist.org Search"

I've checked all settings and extensions within Chrome as well as craigslist, and also searched online for a solution with no success.

I've used the suggested BC applicatons for spyware, etc.  Is this problem somewhere in the registry?

Thanks in advance for any help/solution.

Hi everyone, I've installed Google Chrome on my WinXP PC and it works fine on the Identity on which I installed it (it's an identity with Administrator preferences). However, later I added a new user to my system (this time a "Limited user") and notice there is no where from which I can start Chrome (in the limited user). I went back to the identity which I used to install chrome and notice that chrome has been installed in
"C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe"

How can I access Chrome from the limited user?
Does this mean that I can ONLY access chrome from the "Admin" identity and no other identity (including any other users I setup with Administrator preferences)? unfortunately chrome did not even ask me where I would like to install it

Any advise would be highly appreciated.

Regards.

Hello,

I have a few problems that I have with regards to Google Chrome. Specifically with user profiles.

I have two laptops and they both used to run Google Chrome, until this new update came along. Think it was version 45.0.something, but I'm not sure. It wiped out my list of plugins, thus making Chrome unusable for me.

My main laptop has already had Google Chrome removed as default browser and Slimjet (a Chromium based browser that supports all plugins) installed. It is signed into my Google Account, so all of my settings are transferred between Chrome and SJ (because SJ is a Chromium based browser and allows Google sign ons).

My secondary laptop is where the problems are. It still runs Google Chrome and is NOT signed into a Google Account - as my Google Account has separate user settings that need to be kept separate. What I need is for the current themes/settings/extensions etc on this Chrome (which doesn't have a Google Account set up on it) to be transferred to a user profile - so that when I install SlimJet on this laptop, I can add this user profile on, and effectively have two user profiles - my main one linked to my Google Account and this secondary profile - and both need to be individually selected.

Can anyone help me out on here? Thanks!

Answer:Google Chrome / Chromium help with user profiles

Hi spotify,

Just copy the user profile hierarchy and store it somewhere. It's at c:\users\<user name>\appdata\local\google\etc..

Clear cache first to save space and time.

Now install Slimjet and let it create a user profile. Close SJ, and copy the chrome profile into the SJ hierarchy where it belongs.

Hi

So i woke up this morning to find that google chrome had somehow deleted all my user data. this is really frustrating as I had some important bookmarks that have now gone. I have attempted to restore the google chrome files back to before it had disappeared but to my dismay i found that system restore had only been setting restore points for the windows update files. If anyone has any ideas that can help me I would be very happy. I am understandably upset so I may have overlooked some possibilities.

** Password Alert requires that passwords have at least eight characters.

Password Alert helps protect against phishing attacks.
If you enter your Gmail or Google for Work password into anywhere other than accounts.google.com, you?ll receive an alert, so you can change your password if needed.

Password Alert also tries to detect fake Google sign-in pages to alert you before you?ve typed in your password. To do so, Password Alert checks the HTML of each page you visit to see if it?s impersonating a Google sign-in page.

Hello,
Chrome browser stores my passwords in the "Password manager". However, some sites ask me annually or half-annually to change the password. But it is not replaced in the "Password Manager", it keeps the old password, and when I try to open that site, the old password is embedded, have to change it manually. Chrome does not open a pop-up window asking if to save the password, as it has one saved.
In the "Password Manager" cannot do any editing.
Answers will be appreciated.
Thanks
Motim

Answer:Password Manager in Google Chrome

I believe you must delete the saved password and then chrome should ask to save the new password the next time you log in.

Or set chrome to never save passwords and use a better password manager like LastPass.

Hi

I frequently use i a website called https://www.lectio.dk/lectio/133/forside.aspx. It is a website where i can see what lessons i have the next 2 days and see my homework and such. To get acces to the information i need a login, which i easily can remember. The problem is that i would prefer just to be able to click login when i come to the website, but it does not ask to save username and password

I have checked if the website is listed in the "never save"-list in options, and it is not there. I have never been asked to save the username and password.

PS. the website is in Danish.

Answer:Google Chrome not asking to save password

Go to the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" button, which looks like a wrench (on the right hand side of the window)> Options > on the left hand side click on Personal Stuff and click on offer to save Password. Let me know if this helps :)

Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3: Google ChromeEvery time I start my computer and start Google Chrome it pops up a message, ?Your profile could not be opened correctly. ??.  I created a new browser user profile as per http://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=142059.  This works for the current Windows session (ie. I can close and reopen Chrome with no message popup) but when I reboot the computer and then open Chrome the message is there again.I?ve tried creating the new user profile with and without retrieving my bookmarks (as per instructions in last paragraph of above link) just to confirm its not being caused by the bookmarks file.  I?ve had this trouble for about a week and it seems to coincide with a Trojan infection that I discovered when I ran SUPERAntiSpyware (see attached log).  The symptoms of this were general slowdown especially when in Chrome.  This seems to be ok now except that Chrome takes a long time to start for the first time.  Could there still be a lurking infection?  I might add that I?m having the exact same problem on both my Desktop PC and my laptop and both had the same Trojan infection.Any help would be greatly appreciatedKeith[year+ old attachment deleted by admin]

Answer:Google Chrome User Profile repeatedly corrupted

These symptoms are still continuing and I strongly suspect a lingering infection so I have started a thread at http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,131746.0.html.  Hope I did correctly - please consider this thread closed.Keith

Google Chrome, just like any other modern web browser, offers to store passwords that you enter while using it to improve future access to websites or services on the Internet.

Instead of having to enter the username and password manually each time you delete cookies or sign out, you can use features provided by the browser to fill out the values automatically for you.

That's very comfortable and used by many, especially since it is a feature that is set to on by default.

Unlike Firefox, Chrome did not offer any protection whatsoever for stored usernames and passwords in the browser. Some users saw this as a blatant security risks, while others and Google were quick to point out that local system access was needed to access the data.

There are obviously situations where you may allow someone to access your computer, be it child, friend or business colleague. The chance that they may access the storage may be slim, especially if you are nearby, but it is definitely possible that someone with enough knowledge of Chrome would quickly use an opportunity to look up passwords in the browser.Click to expand...

Hello there.
There was only one user account on my xp system named Administrator. Google chrome browser was installed and working properly. Then I created another user account. (Why I needed new user is a long story).

After that there is no user account named Administrator and moreover, with new account I cannot locate google chrome browser (and desktop and Documents folder of the previous user account i.e., Administrator).

In Control Panel > add/remove programs there are no signs of chrome but in a file's context menu > open with > choose program there is chrome listed, but it does not open the file in chrome. Nothing happen when I choose chrome here.

I can reinstall the google chrome in new account though, but, 1st I want to learn some lesson(s) and 2nd in this way I will lose my bookmarked links in the chrome. So please help me searching out my lost chrome.

Thanks in advance

Answer:[SOLVED] I created a User and cannot now access google chrome browser

Hi

Is there an Administrator folder under the "C:\Documents And Settings" folder?

The Administrator account is usually "hidden" if there is another account on the PC and you are using the Welcome screen.
Usually if the Administrator account is the only account will you see it on the Login Welcome screen.

Does the new account have admin privileges?

At the login screen have you tried pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del twice and then type in Administrator as the user name + the admin password to try accessing the Administrator account?

Hi there,

I must access a web site on an almost daily basis and repeatedly at that.

Most sites autofill fill my ID name and password (using FF and/or IE) except for this site. I must therefore enter both each and every time.

Is there anyway around it or is it a function of the aforementioned sites security that will not allow my machine to remember my ID/password.

It's most annoying.

Anybody know if and/or how I can have my ID/PW automaticaly filled in?

Many thanks

Gord

Answer:IE and FF does not autofill ID/Password

Some sites use code that tells your browser not to remember your login information. For Firefox, at least, there are a couple ways you might get around this. You could get the "remember password" bookmarklet from here: http://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html

To use this, just drag it to the Bookmarks Toolbar, or click Bookmarks -> Manage Bookmarks -> New Bookmark, and paste it in as the location. Either way, it creates a "bookmark" which you click on before you enter your login and password on the website that you're having the problem with.

If this doesn't work (and on some sites it won't), there is a beta Firefox extension that might. It's not without problems, you can read about them on the download page and decide for yourself if you want to try it:

Hi,I apologize in advance if this is confusing and it may even not be possible but I do appreciate any help!I am making a screening log for patients for clinical trials. I have made several drop down lists for the exclusion criteria for the studies using the validation option. I am missing two things, however.1) One of the options from the drop down list is Other where I would like to have a text box pop up for the user to input a value. I've seen a code for this before:Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)'If Drop Down choice is Other, get value'from user and place it in A1 If Target.Address = "$A$1" Then If Target = "Other" Then otherVal = Application.InputBox("Enter Other Value") If otherVal = False Then Exit Sub Range("A1").Value = otherVal End If End IfEnd SubThe problem is that my input range needs to be across various columns and infinite rows and I don't know how to do that. (I apologize if this is basic stuff...)2) We screen all patients but some don't have the disease they need for trials - this would automatically exclude them. Would it be possible to have a column that asks if they have the disease (Yes or No) and then if No automatically populates the other columns as Non-disease but if Yes then allows for the drop down lists I have (which have the exclusion criteria)? Thanks in advance for any help, I've been googling and trying things on my own but I don't seem to be getting very far...

Answer:Drop down list in Excel with user input and autofill

First. to make your code easier to read in both the VBA editor and in this forum, please use the "continuation character" (an underscore) to break up long lines of code. A space then underscore tells VBA that the next line is a continuation of the current line:nxtList = WorksheetFunction.Choose(colNum - 8, "Diagnosis", "DIAS4", _
"STITCHII", "STROKE", "TARDIS", "ENOS", "SOS", "DARS", "CADISS", _
"VIST", "METB", "IRIS", "DNA", "BMET", "GENESIS", "Soma", "Hospital")I can think of 2 reasons why the code might present an error:1 - One of the Names you have listed is not a Named Range and therefore the code can not use that Name as the source for the Drop Down.In this case the code will probably error out whenever you enter Yes in Column H, even if No was in the cell previously.2 - The Row already contains the Drop Downs and the code is trying to "Add" a Validation List where one already exists. In this case the code will probably only error out when there are already Drop Downs in Columns I:Y. Actually a Drop Down in any one of those columns would cause the error since the code loops through each column adding the validation one by one and will fail as soon as it finds the first cell with Validation already applied. If that's the case, then add a .Delete just before the Validation is added:With Cells(Target.Row, colNum).Validation
.Delete
.Add Type:=xlValidateList, AlertStyle:=xlValidAlertStop, _
Operator:=xlBetw... Read more

You fill in your profile, type your email, name, address, zip code, type it all neat....it works for a day or two then vansishes. Google Autofill can't seem to remember my profile. What's up with that? Is there another autofill software I can install, I've tried several. I tried Gator several years ago and it left so much spyware, I'm still removing it's roots. I tried Cute Password Manager, Key Wallet and another one and they just don't work, and not too user friendly. Is there a good pw manager out there, or can Google autofill be fixed?

Answer:Autofill - fill My Data (google?)

I've been using Roboform for many years with great satisfaction. Its primary function is as a login password manager, but it also has a fill form feature I've always found to be quite handy. Click here to download the free version if you would like to try it out. I use the Pro version because the free version has limited passcard capacity. You can read about the pro version here.

Hi TwinHeadedEagle,
I have almost exactly the same problem running on my computer. I have run zoek, malwarebytes, and AdwCleaner and I still have the problem. Rather than create a new post in the forum I have just replied to this post since it seems so similar. I have now run Farbar and have attached the two logs. I also included a pic of my task manager showing the processes that keep loading. Can you help me? Thank you!

My computer was running slow so I went to my task manager and seen a whole bunch of Google Chrome processes running. I was confused at first because I don't even have Google Chrome installed. As I tried to stop the processes one at a time, more only popped up. Then I looked it up on the net, found others yall have helped on this site, and know there's something wrong. If possible, would like to know how and when the malware was installed as I have multiple students that use the pc and this is the first time ever had this happen, would like to know if it was a user doing something wrong by accident or on purpose (is even possible to know, but mainly would like to just get pc fixed!)

I right clicked and Disabled Antivirus AutoDetect (Norton); Downloaded zoek and have result log attached. Required a pc reboot and did that too. Problem is still happening. It also changed my home page to google.com (I changed it back). I also uploaded a picture of my task manager if that helps any.

Thanks!!!

I will not say it will be easy, as you have to manually write the script. It's not actually hard, but it does require looking through the site help files and documentation to do so.

Hello,

I'm trying to repair my parents computer. They were getting Trojan horse warning messages and crashing to blue screens. So far I have updated the BIOS and uninstalled all the browser addons and questionable apps I found on there PC. Since updating the BIOS it hasn't crashed to blue screen. However I'm getting a lot of lywqyjla.exe processes that say they belong to Google Chrome. I uninstalled Google Chrome and they are still there. Each of them is using varying amounts of memory and the CPU usage keeps spiking. I have run malware bytes and adw cleaner, each of them said they found and removed threats but these processes keep showing up.

I've tried multiple anti-everything programs from Super Anti-Spyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix, Spybot S&D, and various online scans that have found nothing, or found something but never fully cleaned my system. For a week or two, Google was being redirected to various ad sites, but after my system was "cleaned" everything was fine. Now today, anything remotely related to Google won't load at all. I've tried to manually remove the TDSS google-redirecting virus, but I have none of the files that supposedly come along with the virus.

I just noticed something as I am working on my new vista machine (always used XP up till now)...

when i have Google AutoFill setup in my google toolbar for IE7, my IE7 auto-complete and saved passwords no longer work! When i turn off google autofill, everything works fine!

are you kidding me? does anyone know a way around this? worked fine in XP...

Answer:Google Autofill overrides IE7 auto complete & saved pwds?

I just found the answer (I was having the same problem). Get rid of Google Auto fill (disable it) and use MSN's toolbar form fill. It works better as it fills in the form for you without pushing the form fill button. And yes, you can still use Auto Complete.

I recently upgraded to IE 10 on my Windows 7 64 bit system. I have the most current Google Toolbar. I use the Autofill to fill in my e-mail address on various login screens. It works on some websites but not on others where it worked with IE9. An example is the Windows (Microsoft) Live login screen. Does this have to with the "tracking" feature introduced in IE 10?

Answer:Google Toolbar Autofill Doesn't Detect Fields Properly in IE10

ie10 added a feature if you notice it next to the password entry where if you click on the eye symbol you can see your actual password and not the dots,
It might be related ?
I don't use form fills or saved user name and password features in either ie10 or google toolbar so it's difficult to say,
All I can say is I'm sure your familiar with active x filtering and the Blue circle with the slash through it as an indicator it's on.
You can go to Internet options/ Advanced section/ And scroll down and see if Always send no tracking header ids checked I believe it's a default setting.
You might even test with the F12 key/ Browser mode and see if your using ie10 or comp-view and switch.

An install of Google Crhome browser is apparantly recording cookies while the Google Chrome browser itself is not being used;  the cookies seem to be of webpages and sites that other people in this location visit through another browser.  This makes me thing that the Google Chrome browser sneaks information from the user of other browsers on the computer, and this makes me wonder, what more is being done with this set of cookies lifted from the other browser?

This cannot be normal; is it?

Every day, I come to the particular computer with google chrome on it, open history, see the cookies listed, delete them, and only use the browser in Incognito mode.  No cookies recorded during any of my usage sessions.  Later, after other people who never use Chrome use the computer, go online (with Internet Explorer), makes their website visits, and then finish; when I come back to use the computer again and go online in incognito mode on Chrome, ... there again are more cookies listed, and mostly from sites that I did not visit.

This just seems like it should not be happening.  Tell me about it?

Chrome OS is not taking off as Google might have wanted, but the company is not slowing down on development. To get more people to get into the world of Chrome OS, Google has come up with a rather impressive plan. Apparently, the search giant is working on a version of the Chrome web browser that replicates functions of Chrome OS right inside Windows 8.

According to The Verge, the latest developer version of Chrome browser for Windows 8 can be configured to run in Metro (Modern UI). However, the browser is suffering from several bugs so Metro mode doesn?t perform well enough and there are frequent crashes. More important than that, however, is that this new version of Chrome browser brings to the table Chrome OS design, Chrome app launcher, Google app menu bar and support for windows within windows. In other words, the stepping stones for Chrome OS in Windows 8, and a major coup by Google.

I am an administrator on this computer, but when I attempt to download anything now from Internet Explorer, I get a Security Alert " Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded." I reset IE and it allows me to download the programs, but I still can’t run them. Hope this helps! Seems like I have a full blown infestation. L

Hello,

As noted above, I'm currently having problems with a process that is being detected as Gooogle Chrome taking up most of the resources on my system. This, even though I don't have Chrome installed on my computer. I've tried deleting the file, but it just pops up somewhere else.

I ran FRST and have attached the resulting reports to this thread. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Whenever I open Google Chrome the first time after I finish booting my computer, it hangs for three seconds, during that time I see a wild amount of solid flashing on my hard-drive light indicator.

Upon looking on my task manager, I see 4 Chrome processes running, one of which seems to be causing a'lot of activity on one of the hard-drives. After a said few seconds the process disappears leaving only three processes and no hard-drive activity.

Is there anyway of stopping this kind of strange hard-drive activity when 'm opening chrome? I'm afraid the repeat thrashing might cause my hard-drive to wear out prematurely.

If anyone can help, please respond.

Thank you in advance.

For the past few days when I open up Google Chrome I get a white page with a yellow ribbon at the top that says "Chrome didn't shut down correctly" and then an option to "restore" which only brings me to a new tab page.
I have looked for solutions and have tried going into appdata and changing my "Default" folder into "Default_old" then closing down Chrome and opening it again but that doesn't work (and I don't get another "Default" folder as the instructions says I should). I have tried disabling my extensions (of which pretty much all of them are ad blockers) and apps. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome but so far nothing has worked. Am I just not doing these things correctly? Is there another way I can stop this? Because I would really love to open up Chrome and have my homepages there.

Thanks!

Computer crashes on startup fairly often - I've always thought it was due to running 4 monitors but it is getting more regular. Checked Task Manager this morning and found 11 instances of Google Chrome running before I even opened the browser.
After googling and reading several threads it appears there is some sort of mutating virus on my system. It does not appear that there is a standard anti-virus fix (yet) and I'm fairly basic in my computer tech skills. I got directed to this site from a few others hence I'm here seeking some help.

I've followed the 3 steps and uploaded the 2 files as directed

Any help would be much appreciated

PS I run avast (free) as real time protection and I ran Malwarebytes this morning that picked up nothing.

My computer is running Windows 7.

About a week ago, I started getting messages saying "Google Chrome has crashed" when Google Chrome was not open. When I opened task manager, many Google Chrome processes under the same name were running. To try to fix the problem, I uninstalled Google Chrome, but the processes are still running.

Right now there are about 15 processes named "dlxyoesklw.exe *32" with the description "Google Chrome" in the task manager. The number of running processes changed frequently, and there are sometimes more than 30 running, all using various amounts of memory. When I press "End Process," more processes just appear.

If I press "Open File Location," it now takes me to C:\Users\Owner\AppData\LocalLow\EmieBrowserModeList\igsqvescqy\mwqvrxfk
If I try to delete the .exe file, it says "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Google Chrome. Close the file and try again" but of course Google Chrome is uninstalled.

Twice I have tried to delete the whole folder by restarting the computer and quickly deleting it before the processes launched. This did not work, as the processes still appeared after the file was deleted, and the folder relocated to a new one under \AppData\LocalLow\
The folder used to be in \AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList\ before it relocated.

I have G Data TotalSecurity 2014 installed but it did not find anything.

This behavior is very suspicious. What should I... Read more

Last night, while working on some vhs to dvd videos, I got an alert saying "Google Chrome has crashed". I don't have chrome on my computer. I looked at my task manager, nothing was showing under applications running, aside from nero, but under processes, there are 8+ different things for chrome. (wiljgkxpsy.exe*.32).
I clicked on open folder and apparently the folder was created yesterday at 348pm. The files are hidden and are under: AppData/LocallowApple Computer/CNVCZPGV/MUQUVESC
I ran Microsoft Security and nothing was flagged. I also tried Malware. Nothing related to Chrome was found.

Also, my mouse pointer on the screen is still showing but also will show a round ball like it's waiting/processing something. This didn't happen until last night after the message about chrome crashing.
What can I do to get rid of this.
Please, any help would be appreciated.

Answer:GOOGLE CHROME CRASHED and I don't even have Google Chrome

Hello,

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool () by Farbar and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

For security reasons, Microsoft does not allow parents (computer administrators) to check on, maintain, adjust or otherwise enter their kids' (limited users) XP profiles without either resetting their passwords or waiting for them to come home and being confrontational about it.

Ideally I would like to be able to log on to a limited user account from my administrator account without tampering with anyone's passwords-resetting them or otherwise. Actually, I have little interest in the (step) kids' personal life and stuff. Alternately, perhaps you may help me with my ultimate goal: limiting screensaver activity:

My arrogant and belligerant teenage stepson likes to customize the family room to his tastes rather that leave it to the generic unbiased interest of the family in general. Latest, he has designed his "my pictures" screensaver somehow to override cmos settings to illustrate various pictures of himself for unlimited time rather than allow cmos or windows to shut off the monitor after periods of inactivity. Typically he would prefer to be confrontational about it, fight and argue over the issue stressing out his depressed mom in the process; I do not want to fight-I just want my monitor to go off after a while of non-use and not be kept on by XP. Sorry about all the disfunctional family issues I had to mention for background. It is hard dealing with an aggressive controlling kid. Obviously most of the time the computer is left on his profile but... Read more

Hi
In A domain environment when i rest a user password from active directory users and computers he is unable to login to Windows with new password. He is configured to login through wifi And we are using single sign on in the wifi settings. This issue is only affecting few users. connection to company wifi network is authenticated through 802.1x. so we manualy create a wifi profile for 802.1x .

At the dual login screen the new credentials (we are using active directory credentials for wifi since it's 802.1x) are entered. First it spits an error that unable to connect to wifi. Then windows spits an error of invalid user name or password.

If we enter the old credentials at login in both wifi access and windows access we are able to login to Windows (it logs in with Cached credentials) but I it obviously is unable to connect to wifi network.

The user is a member of wifi group so he has access to wifi and he can access wifi through his iPhone.

Also another observation is that if I login with his Cached credentials and configure a wifi profile /connection using his new (reseted password) password windows spits an error that cannot connect to the network.

So the core issue is that after reseting his password from active directory users and computers he cannot connect to wifi through windows.

The workaround that currently I do is i login with his Cached credentials to Windows and then i use my own credentials to configure wifi connecti... Read more

Hi all,

We are having a real issue with local profiles / user profile service on our domain.
Our staff accounts are using local profiles. When a staff member changes their password something is happening to their profiles on the machines that their local profile is stored. When they try to login the machine is getting stuck at "Please wait for
the user profile service....". It never continues, we have left for 30 mins or more and it doesn't continue.

We are currently having to use delprof2 to remove their profiles from ALL machines they have previously logged into which is a lot of hassle.

We first noticed this issue when we upgraded our workstations from windows 7 to windows 8.
I was hoping that upgrading to windows 8.1 would fix the issue but sadly it doesn't. This is causing us major hassle on our domain.

It only affects people with local profiles... our students use mandatory profiles and they are not affected.

Our DCs are 2012 R2.

I have trawled google but cannot find any information on this. At our yearly microsoft meeting i asked our regional account manager and he couldn't believe the issue. He had never heard anything like this before.

From the event log, the only thing i can see is that it is not finishing the load of the user profile.
Under user profile service events it shows this:

Event 1: Recieved user logon notification on session 2.
Event 2: Registry file C:\Users\USERNAME\ntuser.dat is loaded at ... Read more

My grandmother was recently hacked and she changed all her passwords herself (yay!). However she did not write down her new local user account password for her laptop.

I tried downloading OPHCrack, I burned it as an ISO file and put it on a DVD-R(only thing I had on hand) and i changed the boot order on her BIOS menu to had the DVD drive as the first priority. It does not run....I hear the disk drive moving, or spinning but the program does not run. Are there any other options or do I have to do a complete system restore to bypass this? Also if that is what I have to do how do I do that without being in her control panel?

Answer:Old Problem New User- Forgot Local User Account Password

Hello there "hater",are you sure you downloaded the right OPHcrack version? It should be the one that is intended to be used on,not the one being used to download and be burned on.Try imgburn, never failed me to create bootable CDs or DVDs.

Hi,I was recently infected with the Windows Repair bug and fixed (maybe its still there) it via one of the posts on the sites. So I'm thinking I might have had a couple of other infections that were dormant for a while or Malwarebytes or Symantec never noticed. After fixing that, I noticed Google Chrome stopped working. When I started googling in Firefox and IE i noticed the page would redirect. And then an the "Internet Explorer Script Error" with the URL pointing to apparent spam urls "http;//celebrity-gossip.net/ashley-tisdale..." as an example. So I updated and ran Malwarebytes AM, Symantec & Microsoft Defender to see what they would. Symantec found an bloodhound virus in an archived drive. And i cleaned whatever Malwarebytes found, forgot now since its been a 4 days.I've tried the TDDSkiller.exe and that wouldnt launch. I tried renaming it too, but nothing.I found another thread and tried cleaning with SuperAntiSpyware and Hitman.I don't remember the correct order I've ran these, but followed according to the threads, including safed mode, internet off, etc...Anyways, any help is appreciated. here is the log:.DDS (Ver_11-03-05.01) - NTFSx86 Run by Mikael at 21:35:05.37 on Thu 04/07/2011Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.13 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_24Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.1033.18.2047.902 [GMT -7:00].AV: Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition *Enabled/Updated* {FB06448E-52B8-493A-90F3-E43226D3305C}.===========... - It seems like I've log out but I am actually still logged in
- Google tips and tricks such as define, tilt etc all are not working
- Clicking "more" and "search tools" refresh the page and does nothing.
Others:
- In other places such as email, youtube, the functionality remains completely normal and unaffected
- I do not think the problem is related to the external internet settings as other devices are able to access these functions/websites without any problem.
- I have no problem accessing any other webpages.

Solutions tried and still not working:
- Completely reset google chrome's setting
- Reinstalling google chrome
- Resetting internet explorer setting
- Resetting computer's ip setting through cmd- netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
- Full scan with avast antivirus.

Any other ideas please? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated as these tips and tricks are a truly useful function for me.

Answer:Google Chrome: Google Search Extra Functions (Tips) Not Working

I too have the exact same problem. i have tried hard for a month+ on 100s of sites with no avail. this probably is some super smart form of malware/virus which changes your IE's lan proxy settings to "127.0.0.1:8080.proxy.pac", this seems to affect chome and IE while firefox looks ok. the only "visible" difference is with the google main page as you described you'll also notice that at the bottom of the page, the number of page results are limited to 10 and no more, you just cant see more results than that. I couldnt find any any solid fix to this (not even complete reformat) The only temporary solution(till next reboot) seems to be to go to internet options in IE - connections tab - deselect that proxy setting and select automatically detect settings though i personally use hola better internet extension which seems to fix the problem till its kept on. I want this dreaded issue to get some attention so that am actual solution is found :/

It doesn?t matter what claims a software company makes, there?s one universal law of product design that continues to hold true ? nothing is unhackable.

That?s where Parisa Tabriz comes in, Google?s head of product security for the company?s Chrome browser. Ever since her entry into Google in 2007, the 34-year-old security expert and her team have detected countless bugs and loopholes in Chrome?s security system, patching them before they can be exploited by outside hackers. She was even featured on Forbes? 2012 ?Top 30 People Under 30 To Watch In the Technology Industry? list. It?s no wonder then that she?s earned herself the moniker of ?Security Princess? among both cyber security professionals and the media.

Calling themselves the ?Department of Chromeland Security? Tabriz and her team of 30 white hat hackers (security researchers who attempt to hack systems for good, as opposed to black hat hackers that breach software for personal gain or sport) are hard at work everyday to make Chrome the most safe browsing experience it can possibly be.

Hello,

Apologies if this has been previously addressed, but I couldn't find much by searching through the forums.

I'm wondering if there is a way to permanently hide/remove recently visited sites from the Google home page in the Chrome browser?

I have set Chrome to "Keep local data only until I quit my browser," and installed the Click & Clean extension from the Chrome Web Store and set it to "Delete private data when Chrome closes," (http://www.howtogeek.com/137681/how-to-automatically-clear-private-data-when-you-close-your-browser/) but neither of these actions are deleting those recently viewed sites from the Google home page.

Judging by the amount of complaints found through googling, there are a lot of people who hate this, so I'm hoping there's a work around out there that I just haven't found yet. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would sincerely appreciate it!

I'm running Mac OS X v. 10.6.8, and Chrome version 30.0.1599.101 (up to date at time of posting).

Has anyone successfully used Click & Clean for this purpose? :S

For a few days now, after getting one of those fake "antivirus" programs my Google Chrome browser is unable to open any pages. I can open them in IE and Firefox, but on those browsers any links I click typically get redirected to random advertisement websites rather than the page I'm trying to reach.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Recently my Google Search results have been getting hijacked to ad websites. Whenever I delete my cookies it goes away for awhile, then comes back. I also have occasional audio advertisements play on my computer, I found whatever trojan is doing this, is using iexplore.exe. I ran a scan with Spybot S&D, and it found some things, but things are still being redirected. I ran a scan with HijackThis, and the log is pasted below. If you could have a look at this, and see what could be doing this. I am running Windows 7 32bit Ultimate, with everything updated, all updates. I have Kaspersky IS 2010 installed. All help is appreciated. I'm sure that there are several threads like this, unfortunately the solutions I've attempted haven't been very useful for me. As of late I've been suffering from a google redirect virus. It hasn't actually been harmful at all. My computer still runs at optimal speeds and I still have phenomenal internet connection speeds.

The issue lies with both Google Chrome (I loved it until now...) and Firefox (second best browser). Whenever I try to perform a google search in either browser I'll get the desired results list. However when I click a link it redirects me to another site. When I flush the DNS or clear my browsing history it works fine temporarily, but then moments later it starts redirecting again. I've ran Piriforms CCleaner to remove cookies, I've ran CCleaner's registry fixer, I've also performed several scans on my computer both normally and with Windows in safe mode using Webroot Internet Security Essentials 7.0 and I'm still having issues. I'd like to be able to fix this so that I can stop using IE 8 x64 (beta) and my iPod for browsing the web now and get back to Chrome.

Don't know if this info helps but I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Before I even say anything, I have tried to reinstall Chrome 3 times and the problem still stands.

So my problem is that when I try to login to my Google account on Google Chrome, the web page goes white and Chrome does not log in. The steps I took are as follows:

It starts on the regular Chrome login screen. (see attached picture #1)
I insert my password and press the 'Sign In' button.
It loads to a white screen. No loading, it is always finished every time I try. (see attached picture #2)

I don't know if this is relevant, but the app launcher also suffers from this malfunction and will not display any of my apps (see attached picture #3). There are no errors when starting Chrome, or opening the page. The page is just white for no reason. Nothing has ever gone wrong with Chrome (surprising, I know) and I really love it. It is fast and it looks sleek. It IS a RAM hog, but apparently my 2 GB ram laptop can handle it, so I'm happy. My opinions aside, I hope you can help me fix this.
