I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Okay first of all, my laptop doesn't have the sound card to provide 7.1 surround sound, it does however have Dolby Surround Sound, so I was thinking if I purchased a 7.1 surround sound headset, how can I configure each speakers on it? Since currently the only audio channel I have is Stereo.

The headset is plugged in by USB, so it must act like a sound card on its own, if I plug in the USB headset, will it provide me another audio channel for 7.1?

The headset is a Razer Megaladon.

Answer:7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset question

Hello PinoyForTheWin.

Razer devices a pretty powerful when it comes to hardware performance/gaming. They are also well known for providing complex drivers for their products.
My guess is that when you'll install the headset, the driver software will provide you some advanced options to choose from.
Among those, there should be some setting to enable the 7.1 sound experience, by overriding your standard sound card settings, and applying its own.
I cannot however guarantee this as a 100% go, it's just a thought to help you decide what to do next.

Good luck

I recently bought a new Tritton AX51 Headset that supports 5.1 surround sound but my virtual sound card (abviously) doesn't support it.

If you can recommend me a sound card for this headset (microphone included) off Newegg, please do. I'm looking for something $30-60.

I'm currently looking at this one:

Hi i purchased some Tritton ax pro 5.1 surround headsets and i noticed on the dolby dig box that came with them that there is a time delay setting for the speakers. So i was kinda curious if anyone has messed around with the settings on that or not. I play on my xbox 360 and play mostly FPS like MWF2 or Borderlands and i would like to make it as realistic as possible.

Alright well I have the 5.1 ax360 surround sound headset from triton but im having a problem. I don't know if the problem lies with the headset or my sound card settings. My sound card is the Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty. Anyway, when im playing call of duty world at war (on my pc) the sound doesn't come from where it should on the headset. For example, if guns are shooting in game on the left side, in the headset it sounds like its coming from the right side. Is this a headset problem, sound card problem or do I just not have something set right? In the software the card came with I set it to run in 5.1 surround sound and same with the game.

Edit: I found the problem, one of the plugs were in the wrong spot >.<

I recently bought the tritton Kunai gaming headset. When I play certain games (so far it's killing floor 2 and planetside 2) it will make a loud buzzing/static noise through my mic and disturb whoever i'm speaking to on skype, but I cannot hear it and changing settings in game does not fix the issue. What could be the problem?

I just bought a Lenovo Y50 Touch laptop and I'm attempting to use a Tritton AX720 headset with it.  I'm using the audio combo jack that combines the mic and headphone jacks into a single plug for the laptop.  I get a notification when the combo jack is plugged in and sound is played through the headphones, but the laptop will not detect the mic. Is there any way to enable the headset's mic on this laptop?

Currently I have just gotten the Turtle Beach Z60 Surround Sound Headset for Christmas. I have plugged the USB into the front of the PC Tower and have configured it correctly. However, when it told me to configure the headset's speakers for surround sound, it wouldn't play any of the test sounds. Afterwards, I tried to listen to music, but then the Windows Media Player said that it could not play the music file. In the end, no sound was coming out of the headset when I set it up for 7.1 surround sound. Is there some kind of software that I'm missing for my computer?

Answer:Turtle Beach Z60 Headset Refuses to Play Surround Sound

USB headsets do not use the PC's sound card. They have built in electronics to convert digital to audio. As it will not play the test sounds, either something is not configured properly in the headset control panel or there is a hardware problem with the headset. Best to contact Turtle Beach for support on this.

Hi all,

I am posting this for a friend:

I have recently bought a new headset, because I saw it at a friends' and I liked it alot. When I plugged it in, everything worked fine. But in my first skype call, people could hear all the sounds I heard, except for themselves.

So I tried muting my microphone, but that made it even worse. It was like my stereo mix was the recording device. People could hear everything, just as if it was their sound. The weird thing is that they do not hear themselves.

Edit: My friend, who has the same headset, has no problems at all with it.

Help would be really appreciated,

(sorry if this is the wrong area to post this.)
My computer is a few years old, but it has NEVER crashed until today. I was in a game of League of Legends, and out of nowhere the screen froze, and a loud buzzing started coming out of my headset, I couldn't alt+tab or ctrl+alt+del. There were no signs of it coming (such as lag). I thought oh well, that's odd and turned off my PC by the front button and then turned it on again. I finished that game without any problems...
An hour later I am trying to launch the game Aion, and my computer freezes again during the launch of the game. This time, the monitor shut off when it happened too... I turned off my PC with the button and left it off for around 30 minutes... I turned it back on, but unplugged my headset to see if maybe for some reason that was the problem. (I read to do that online by one person).. I got on Aion, played for 15 minutes and them boom, crash again out of nowhere.
As of now, I am just on my computer again and I haven't tried to play any games, because that seems to be the only time when my computer crashes... I am not super tech savvy, but I am willing to try anything you give me instructions on how to do.
What I have tried: I have tried upgrading drivers, as that is what everyone in different forums was saying to do, but they were already updated. I also tried playing without my headphones in, that didn't work.

For some reason it is giving me major trouble in Vista with very poor quality *pretty much like major lag* and a lot of clicking sounds.
I know its not the headset because I checked them out on a xp laptop and they worked amazingly.
Any help would be awesome, I downloaded the latest drivers for them... Still have the same problem.
Speakers work fine, so its not the computers hardware.

I'm reluctant (well I'm not as I like spending money lol) to buy a head set as I have a very high quality home cinema av receiver.

However the position I sit to play games means the surround speakers are to my left, and ruin the whole surround experience.
And moving the speakers and or myself is out of the question.

So I wish to buy some gaming headphones.

Being a bit of a sound freak (hence the stupidly over priced home cinema system) I like things to sound good.

Now my speaker experience tells me that the likes of turtle beach or tritton surround sets can't possibly sound as good a decent pair of stereo speakers.

So I'm just wondering from your guys experience are the surround headsets actually any good? As I can't see how speakers in close proximity can come anywhere near close to surround.

Answer:Stereo vs surround headset

I actually haven't tried any of these surround headsets, but I know that most (maybe all) of them use virtual surround. So what it means is that they tweaked their stereo sounding that much that it doesn't sound like a stereo headset... which they might call surround. These headsets tend to have the option to turn this feature off (who the hell bought them otherwise) but considering that you are an audiophile you wouldn't like it anyway because it degrades the audio quality (I know games' audio quality might not be as important as the music quality is).

I say buy a headphone which is a plain stereo one (I would go for an Akg since they are known for the non tweaked sounding, which saves you even more quality). I think that the virtual sorrund is only a matter of taste in games.

I hope I helped somewhat

It sorta looks like I have no speaker drivers .

Unplugging the headset does not help.

Anybody know how to fix this problem so I am not forced to wear a headset for audio ALL OF THE TIME ?

Answer:Installed new USB Headset NOW no speaker audio even if I unplug the headset

Yeah, my USB headset was a little weird at first as well.

Try going into your volume control (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control):
1. Click Options
2. Properties
3. Change the mixer device from the USB headset to your speakers.

Should work.

Also should note you can change the output settings in most audio software (for example: Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc.) so if you can't hear anything from your speakers when using those programs, try fiddling with those settings as well. I know for Winamp it's Options > Preferences > Plug-ins > Output > double-click the plug-in you use (mine is out_ds.dll) and again change it to your speakers using the drop down menu.

the topic pretty much says it. I bought myself a new headset(C-media headphone set or something) which uses a USB-port instead of an original sound-port-thing. The problem is, whenever I plug the headset in the USB-port pretty much nothing happens and I can't get the sound in the headset, it just stays in the speakers...

It used to be no problem when I used a headset with the sound-port on the motherboard to just change it. Anyone have any suggestions on what I might do? :(

edit: forgot to say that it works just fine after rebooting the computer.

Thank you

Answer:Problem with USB-headset(Can't switch between headset and speakers without rebooting)

Hi Foonksh,

Try going into the Control Panel and go into Sounds and Audio Devices. From there you can pick the default device for recording and for playback. In the playback section, set the headset as the default device instead of your speakers.

I can't figure out how to fix this. I noticed that, when I'm watching a video, my headset's mic will relay the audio coming into my headset. Disabling Stereo Mix doesn't fix it. The physical controller that's on my headset cable doesn't stop it from happening, as even if I turn the volume knob all the way down and flick the mute switch, it's still picking up the audio. Muting my headset from within the computer stops the mic from hearing it, as does switching to my speakers that are plugged into the front jack. My headset is a 3.5mm jack type plugged into the back of the computer, directly into the motherboard.

My PC arrived in March 2001 complete with Creative 4.1 surround sound speakers, a Pioneer DVD player and a copy of PowerDVD 3.0. I never played any DVDs and just used the drive, after installing Nero UDF Reader, as an adjunct to my CDRW drive, with Nero InCD installed.

After reinstalling Windows some time ago after creating a partition I never got round to reinstalling PowerDVD, but today I did so and expected to hear wonderful surround sounds from a DVD of the 1984 film Paris, Texas that was included with my daily newspaper. Whether the DVD boasts a surround sound soundtrack or not I don't know (and is not mentioned on the disk or envelope), but although the rear speakers are outputting sound it appears to be the same as the front ones!

Exploring the PowerDVD config menu for audio I noticed a panel, greyed out and the check box also, which read Use Dolby Pro Logic Decoder for 4/6 speakers. There is a check mark against Stereo output, but of course I cannot access the greyed out box. Does PowerDVD recognise if a disk has a surround sound audio track, and if not automaticallly go to stereo?

So, what am I supposed to do to access a Dolby Decoder? - it didn't come with Windows (ME) and apparently not with PowerDVD or the Creative software.

The DVD plays well in Stereo but it seems a waste having the other two speakers, which according to the Creative software are working normally, as in Left front, Left back etc.

Can anyone guide me on this please?

With my old headset i used to have a blast recording sounds/music coming out of my comptuer directly using wave out. Often for MSN voice clips and such.

I haven't changed anything, but now that i have this new headset, the only recording i seem to be able to do is voice recording in sound recorder, i can't seem to record wave out mix on sound recorder, and can't record anything whatsoever in msn voice clips.

I can hear voice clips sent to me though, strange thing is, when someone invited me to an audio conversation earlier, i got the annoying ringing noise alright , but i couldn't hear anything.

I checked my volume controls nothing is muted.
Any help would be fantastic! Thanks in advance

I am looking for a gaming headset that is under or around $100, that offers some good sound quality. I mainly play first person shooters (surprise, surprise) but I will also use them for music, movies and general computer sound usage. I currently own Astro A40's and I have to say that I am very disappointed in them, I can't use the mic because I get a horrible screeching sound and they're heavy as hell IMO.

I have heard good things about the Corsair Vengeance 1500, and was wondering if anybody has used them and could give me some feedback.

Also if you feel there are other headsets that aren't outrageously expensive, could you please recommend them as well? Thanks for all the help.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I didn't see anywhere more appropriate.

Great positional audio
USB (dont want to need to blow more money on a sound card, and the onboard sound on the MSI P55-GD65 is apperently a bit poor)
I am not concerned with poor audio for music, although it would be nice if it worked well for movies.

I was looking at the Creative Sound Blaster Arena and the Saitek Cyborg 5.1. I was concerned about Creatives notorious driver unreliability, and one review said that quality was atrocious on about 60% of games on Windows 7. Meanwhile the Cyborg 5.1 has got mainly good reviews, but some complain of a buzzing sound and a didgy microphone.

Have I overlooked any good options? Do you have any experience with either of these headsets, or near competitors?

Thank you very much for any help.

Question: USB Gaming Headset

Hello, I have purchase Creative Sound Blaster Arena headset about a month ago and out of no where the sound and mic all together have stop. When I plug the headset in and out of my usb ports the computer notifies me "New hard drive found". And when it attempts to download the driver from the cd again it fails. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it plenty of times. I have already install all recent drivers as well and nothing. Now it doesnt notify me but when i go look at my device and printers "Creative headset firmware updater" is below the unspecified section. I have tried both on my desktop and laptop and the problem is the same. Please help :/

(This headset is not worth 100 bucks, I feel sharp pains on my head and ears after playing awhile, idk if its me but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.)

Thank You for reading this hope you can help <3

Gday fellas
I am wondering if anyone has tried the new Corsair Vengeance Headset?
I currently have the Corsair HS1A headset, but sadly it is also my second set, within a space of around 6 months, I started losing sound in the left ear piece. Sent it back as an RMA, and am still waiting for skycomp to refund my money (they have none in stock, don't know when new stock will be arriving). The product was returned to them 6 months ago.
I thought okay I got a lemon, and purchased a second set from mwave, these too are now having intermittent drop outs with the sound.
The problem is the HS1A's are an extremely comfortable headset to wear (and they keep your ears warm to). I like the extra-wide, extra deep ear cups with the microfiber.
I do not like headsets that sit on your ears.
So other than the Corsair headsets (with mic), do any of you know of a comparable headset.
I am now wary of the Corsair Headset, two consecutive failures, within around the same time frame. The only bonus with Corsair is they have a two year warranty.
However before I go once again putting my hand in my pocket, I was wanting either an alternative or someones own personal experience.

Question: Gaming Headset

Hey there all! I was wondering what (if any) headset you use for gaming (or listening to music)... I was planning on buying a new one and I was not sure what the best one for the job would be... I was looking for one with a microphone and everything. The one I had I got when when I preordered Battlefield 2 (how ever long ago that was). It was a Logitech and lasted a long time but I think it is time for an upgrade. Anyone got any suggestions?

Hi All,

Just was wondering what people use and why when it comes to gaming headsets.
I have never personally owned a pair (I've always used good sound systems, current one is a Bose Companion 5) But now I've got enough friends playing on PC that have headsets and I recently put my Ultimate Ears Monitors in to play Half-Life and BF3 and the sound was absolutely epic!

I am prepared to spend "up-to" £120, however I would rather more £80.
I was looking into the below:

Does anyone else have a particular brand/Headset they would swear by?

All suggestions welcome as I plan on buying a pair in the next month or two.

Answer:Which gaming headset to get?

I've also found:

Vengeance 1300
Vengeance 1500

PC 333D
PC 330

There is too much choice! All these seem to have good reviews, All of them are in my price range! Help!

I've got a cheap Logitech behind the head setset now which I don't really like. Its also got separate mic and headphone jack plugs, which have been giving me some problems with static (I think the jacks on my computer are faulty). I use vent a lot and guys are always complaining about my random static. ( if I twist the plugs in the jacks it fixes it temporarily)

I'm looking to get a good comfortable USB headset, something around $100 or less. I wanted to see what you guys are using or have any suggestions. The couple cheap headsets I've owned get really heavy/uncomfortable after a few hours of gaming, so something lightweight would be nice.

All suggestions and recommendations are welcome. Thanks.

I am currently using Windows XP home edition OS. I just bought an Altec Lansing headset because I pay mmorpg's and we are using Ventrillo to speak to eachother in our teams. There are three color coded spots on the back of my comp with the sound-shaped plug. One is green (i had speakers plugged in here) the other is a grayish-blue kind of similar to green. Lastly, there is an orange one. Both the green and grayigh-blue one have a music note on them. The orange one however, has a microphone picture on it. So, my speakers were plugged i the green one, so i took the green plug i had and the orange plug ihad from my new headset and plugged them in the grayish and orange slot. I couldnt hear anything, So, i plugged the green one in the actual green spot and took out the one for my original speakers. This worked! I heard my gameplay, and them speaking. However, my MICROPHONE was not working. I had it in the orange slot just as the plug is colored, and the other green plug it has is the only one that let me hear sound when i plugged it in, not the orange one, so i figured if I plugged in the orange one in the right orange spot, my mic would be working. It didn't. They told me I should be able to hear myself through my mic, i cant. It's like it's not even on. I checked my headset and see no button to turn a mic on in any kind of way. just volume, and a high, low, and mute setting for the mic- i had it on all of them and it still didnt work. it's like ... Answer:Trying to get headset to work in gaming

The Microphone jack is the pink/orange one, depends on your color perception I guess.

The standard connections should match up with the color of the plugs: green to green and pink/orange to pink/orange

You may need to use a splitter to plug both the headset sound plug and your speakers into the same jack. This will result in some level loss, but if you've got a good speaker set it won't amount to much. There are alternative ways of plugging both in, but they depend on your Sound card options. A line-out jack might also feed your speakers. Some cards (I have a Turtle-beach) may also have a "multi-jack" which can be configured to do different things -- but if you have that, you have to "read the manual".

I have an Altec mic headset too. There is only a volume control for the headset, and a 3 position switch for the mic as you note. But make sure you do not have the mic on mute in the MIXER controls for your sound card.

Go to the Control Panel and select the speech applet. There is a configuration option there that should tell you whether the mic in signal is being received and how good the signal is.

There also may be an option to test and configure hardware in the Sounds and Multimedia applet for "voice". I have had trouble after using this and had to system restore to get things back the way I wanted it. But you can give it a try with that caveat.

I don't know where else to turn so I thought I would make a post here.

Today I bought these headphones.
Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset | Creative Labs Online Store

And they don't work.
When I go into Playback/Recording devices they are not being listed as options, only my regular speakers and mic are being listed. When I plug the Headset in no sound comes through my laptop speakers but it does not come out my headset speakers either.

Some things to know, my computer is Windows 7 64bit And I know the Headphones are not broken. Also, as a reminder, this particular headset plugs into the two Headphone and Mic jacks, not a USB. I have made sure they are plugged into the correct slot. I am on a laptop so I only have the two available jacks. One for Microphone and one for headset.

Answer:New Gaming Headset not working.

Have you looked in the Creative support pages for anything unique about these headphones and if anything specific you need to do to get them to work - I agree that these should work "out the box" but it seems strange they are not even recognized when you plug them in - do they appear in Device Manager ?

My wifes and my own computer sit side by side on the same table. We can use posterboard to block the view of each others screen but sound is a big problem in games like RTS's where stealth is very important. We're looking for some headsets to wear while playing these titles. Other than when we play against each other we won't be wearing them. Anybody have any recommendations?

Since we'll be playing games like Supreme Commander and Dawn of War, the sound quality is important. They must have a mic and the ear phones must cover the entire ear. The standard walkman/cdplayer headphones that just rest on the ear or earbud headphones are not acceptable. Recommendations would be most appreciated :celebrate

Ok, so, I already know a couple of Headsets that I am considering.

First up, we have the Logitech G35 7.1 Surround Sound headset, with the option to morph your voice. Sounding like a Space squirrel hasn't been so easy! lol. Also note that these have also had problems on the Windows 7 64 Bit operating systems. I've noticed some people have gotten the headphones and used them on windows 7 64 bit and had none though.

Second up, we have the Razer Megalodon, it is also 7.1 Surround sound, but it has been said to produce better sound quality. Plus, I am running a Windows 7 64 bit system and do not know if I want to risk the compatibility issues that some are having. Much like the G35, the issues are also only reported by some people.

The main reason I've been looking at Razer/Logitech is because they both have great reputations for quality products. The other reason being that I do not have a sound card. If I ever decide to use my Crossfire, my PCI slots would be covered, and so the sound card would have to be removed. Also it is important to note that since I don't have a sound card, even if I get a quality pair of Headphones such as from Sennheiser or Astro they will not be utilized.

Right now anything that I purchase would be better than what I have. I'm using a set of $20 Wal-Mart headphones with onboard sound lol.

So, any suggestions are welcome! If you can think of any reason I should/shouldn't buy these headsets, please let me kno... Read more

Answer:Need help Choosing a Gaming Headset

One thing that starts small and becomes an overriding concern with headsets is fit. Specifically head pressure. I cannot wear plastic banded headsets for long periods, the ear pressure is uncomfortable. While testing all is good, 4 hours of gameplay is a different story.
I use the A4Tech. No better for sound, no better for mike, hard to set up. Still comfortable after 6 or even 8 hours of gaming. The head band on the A4 is steel and can be bent to a permanent shape. I have a snug fit that does not change over time.
Son uses ear buds and a clip on mike for the same reason. Extended gaming for him is uncomfortable with any headset.

I am having problems setting up my microphone to work while gaming. I can hear people talking to me but they can not hear me. I can hear myself talking in the microphone. I have windows vista. I am not computer savvy so please forgive. Thank you for help in advance.

Answer:headset/mic setup for gaming

enter sound recorder in windows vista and try to record something, when you play the file again, can you hear yourself ? Cause usually the microphone works, but is disabled/not configured in-game. If you couldnt hear ureself after playing the file, try to check you have the microphone plugged in the correct spot. Then enter Control Panel, and write down in the serach box " Microphone" and click on " Set up microphone " and follow the steps provided, if that doesnt work , reply back we'll work something out.

Hello, I recently bought the Inspiron 15 i7567. The issue I'm having is that I can't figure out a good way to voice chat while gaming. Hi, I'm looking to get a gaming headset since my Dad doesnt want a 5.1 surround sound system. I've looked at the Altec Lansing AHS602i which seemed pretty good to me from the reviews and price, but since it isnt actually true 3d sound, I looked at other, "True 5.1 surround sound" like Turtle Beach Ear Force AK-R8 which seem to sound superior based on reviews (cnet and such), but is twice the cost and need their own sound cards which slows down the computer (Crysis my main game now). My question is, anyone had experience with the simulated 3d sound like from the Altec or is the "True 5.1" headphones the only way to go if i want great sounding games despite the high cost and performance hit? Thanks.

This issue is driving me nuts. Every 5 seconds or so with Dolby Surround Sound on there's an audible crack or pop kind of in the audio. I've looked for solutions and tried everything I found but to no avail. The only thing that stops it from crackling is turning Dolby Surround Sound off, so I'm pretty sure it's the surround sound that's causing the crackle and not the actual headset. Is anybody else having this problem? Anybody found a solution? I would really like a solution if someone has them, thank you.

I need to use Skype for the first time. Also I would like to be able to play mp3's and video files at night so I don't disturb roommates. I do play COD4MP and I think you won't be able to get game sound if I plan on doing online chat with COD4. I rather just hear the normal sounds of the game.

I was looking at this product with these specification:

Micro Broadcaster Pro Multimedia Headset with Microphone

The Broadcaster Pro Multimedia Headset with Microphone is designed to provide studio quality sound technology to your music, gaming, and video teleconferencing environment. The omni-directional microphone is voice recognition and internet phone capable for interactive gaming over the internet or other multimedia applications.
Manufacturer Warranty- Limited Lifetime Warranty
Device Color- Black
Microphone- Integrated microphone
Controls- Volume control
Speakers- Left and Right
Sound Output Mode- Stereo
Response Bandwidth- 20 Hz to 20 KHz
Impedance- 32 ohms
Included Cables- 6 foot cable
Ports/Connectors Required- Requires (1) 3.5mm audio out jack and (1) 3.5mm microphone jack

PS- I have a pretty good sound system but I don't' want to be disruptive of my roommates so I prefer something like this just for the nights I stay up late.

Or any other recommendations on a tiny budget, max $20.00. I hope I'm not asking for a miracle, LOL

Answer:Headset for Skype/Movie/Gaming

$20 is not much for a "quality" headset/mic. For $20 you are only going to get a "cheapo" model. You need "closed back" type headphones to minimize others hearing it.

You've all been so helpful in the past so thought I would try posting again with a query... Just bought a Creative FATAL1TY Gaming Headset which is supposed to be plug and play but I cant seem to get the mic to work... I had problems getting the sound to come through but managed to do some twiddling around under control panel/sounds speech and audio settings and realised the default setting was for my VOIP phone that I have installed - switched this setting to the Nividia soundcard as default and the sound seemed to come through ok... the defualt setting for sound recording is the sound card but still cant get the microphone to work. I've trying using the headset against my skype account to test the mic and it just wont pick up anything... not sure if the mic is faulty or it's something I am doing? Any advice?

I only had to change the name of the device in audio properties to distinguish between speakers and headset. Mic has worked perfectly and sounds fine with no adjustments. (Tested on ventrillo)

The only thing drivers/package seems to offer is changing EQ settings or various "technologies" available which im not interested in.

or is there something else i'm missing which I would need the drivers for?

Answer:Fatal1ty USB Gaming Headset HS-1000

I have the same thing my problem is I had the Eval copy of Ultimate did a fresh install of Home Pre (no need for Ultimate and free copy) all driver install...I have sound BUT it stutters, lags and the CD drivers and the "Windows 7 Beta" driver do the same. Even the Windows Update drivers sound horrid. I dont get what the deal it. RC Eval Copy works flawless. Retail Final...sounds like crap. If anyone can find a solution I would love it.

Hmm, where do I start, this is quite wierd either way I put it, but I've bought this Fatality gaming headset which comes with a mic 2 months ago, it was working fine but all of the sudden mic started to malfunction, i can barely hear myself n its too static to understand any words, wierd thing that I've returned the headset thinking it was the hardware and got the same thing right away, came home and it didnt work either, reinstalled the drivers, which didnt help at all, tried different usb hubs and nothing, did everything I could messed with sounds and have read a lot of topics n troubleshooting on this problem and didnt come up with a solution. All of the sudden it started working few hours later! I was surprised but when all was working I didnt bother anymore, now its the same thing happened for 2 days i've tried going through everything i did last time, nothing helps.

If anyone has a solution to this problem please let me know when you have time, thanks (

Hey guys, basically I ordered one of these a couple days ago and it just won't work for me I don't hear any sound nor am I able to speak to people. However the red light does appear, meaning it does have power. A CD does come with it yet everytime I 'install' the driver nothing actually happens and I am prompted to install it even though I've tried a dozen times. I'm using Windows Vista, 32bit at the moment and I was hoping if you could help me out.

Anything you need to know, I'll be happy to answer.
Any help is appreciated, thanks

Answer:Creative Fatal1ty USB Gaming Headset

Any ideas, anyone?
This is really beginning to annoy me, the headset cost over $50 and hasn't been of ANY use to me.

Today I went out and bought this headset and a new graphics card. The gfx card is fine but I'm having a little problem with the headset.

It has both a microphone wire and an audio wire (pink and green ones). I have these two sockets on the front of the PC and both sockets along with others on the back of the PC. When I plug it into the front the microphone works but the headphones don't and when I plug it into the back, the headphones work but the microphone doesn't.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the forums naajhoo!

It sounds like the connection in the headset (where the mic plugs into the earpiece) is the most likely cause for your woes! Especially since it works when plugged directly into your PC.

But I am assuming you have it set as the default mic when you have it in the headset?

Note: I uploaded a picture below to show what windows pop up when I plug my headset in. I do not know what to do with those windows

I bought a P4C earforce headset for the PC to play battlefield 4 and cannot get it to work. It says you need a 3.55mm 4 pole jack. I dont know what a 4 pole is or if mine even is a 4 pole.

When I plug my headset into the front panels of my computer (Either the headset icon or microphone) RealTek HD Audio Manager pops up and I have no idea what to do. Plugging it into the jacks/panels on my keyboard do absolutely nothing! Which is where I would prefer to plug them into so there is more slack on the chord for my headset when I am wearing it.

When I plug the chord into the computer I can't hear anything out of them or say anything. I tried using the sound recorder (the bar goes green when there is sound) to see if it can pick up my voice but to no avail. The only time it registers that there is sound being made is when I change the volume on the actual headset. I don't know what that means.

Any help please, I have been looking for about 2-3 hours. Maybe more. If anyone can help me I would be so grateful. Thank you

An overview of the questions:

How can I tell if mine is a 4 pole jack? If not can I do/buy anything to make the Mic work?
What output or jack to I plug my chord into? (I don't have any colours, but I think green equals headset and pink/red equals mic.
What option do I choose on RealTek when I plug in my headset? And wh... Read more

Answer:New here. Please help connecting my PC gaming headset (P4C Earforce)

This headset is designed for use on the Playstation 4 which has the same connection for audio and mic.

The 3.5mm jack has 4-poles which connect the speakers and mic through 1 connection.

To use it on your PC you need a compatible line-in which is for both audio and mic (like hands free earphone for your phone).
You may be able to use a splitter cable such as but turtle beach do not list that as a compatible model and they will normally provide a splitter with compatible products.

I've been a major fan of wireless technology ever since I started amassing an army of rechargeable batteries (That, and I can't have wires all over the room, since my pc is at least six feet away at a given time while gaming), and I've been looking for a headset to use while gaming and recording videos, but I do not want wires spanning across from the futon to the pc.

Does someone have any suggestions on brands/models of wireless headsets that are reasonably priced, with a usb dongle or something similar?

Answer:*Cheap* wireless gaming headset

I've have the Wireless PX3 headset. Technically built for PS3, but is compatible with PC & Xbox360's. I like them. Relatively cheap. Scored mine for $55 new.

I'm new and I just bought a Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset with mic, and the mic doesn't work! I heard you are supposed to let the computer know you want it analog, and not digital or something, but I don't know how to change all this.
I know very little about computers but the problem with this mic is not that I did not switch it from Mic-off to Mic-on, or that I have the volume of. I'm not a fool.
I just don't know about computers so I need your help cuz you guys know.

Pretty please with sugar on top, help me

Answer:Fatal1ty Gaming Headset, you guys know this

Bump, also got probs with this. The mic works, but the sound is very unclear, and I can hardly hear my voice(when I record myself). It's alot of buzzing, extremely irritating.

Here you go, a clip, you can hardly hear my voice there. This is so frustrating, have been toying with a lot of settings but it is no go.

Yey, I solved it. Just had to fix the mic-boost settings. See pic.
