Reply-to address wrongly entered-how do I correct?

Question: Reply-to address wrongly entered-how do I correct?

I recently discovered that my "return to" address in Outlook Express is incorrect and so people who reply using the button get their messages bounced back at them. I searched the computer and eventually found a file, USER.DAT, which contained the mistakes. I used Wordpad to edit the file and had a bad hour or two when my computer seemed to regress a couple of years and I had to dig out/download various driver files. I had copied the USER.DAT file and restored it, but at start up the computer still looks for various files from Norton Anti-Virus which I don't use any more and I have to press the good old any key to get things to load. So: is there any way of editing the "return to" address? What can I do about the problems re the computer expecting to find files which are no longer there?

Preferred Solution: Reply-to address wrongly entered-how do I correct?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When starting my note book first time/ registering process i entered my mail id wrongly. pl help in correcting the mail id

Answer:Change of wrongly entered mail id

Hi,When you registered the first time with microsoft you will have registered with or created a Microsoft account. It is the only way possible to register with email account. So you must have the email and password of this "wrong" mail id you registered with. If you want to change details in this account you can go to MIcrosoft site and modify your account (name, emails associate, picture etc...) https://account.microsoft.com/account If you want you can also create a new administrator user on the computer and use a different Microsfoft account for this user. Then you could delete the first account created. You can do this from user accounts in the control panel. Let me know if you need further help,David

Hi all,

I am trying to sort out my mothers dratted email issue once again. The problem this time appears to be that she has had her account banned for being a spammer. At least this is what the error messages say.

When trying to send emails using Outlook Express it fails giving the following message;

"The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was '[email protected]'. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop3.btconnect.com', Server: 'mail.btconnect.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 Message rejected due to sender IP reputation ([86.155.19.32]); see Mirapoint: Miracare ', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79"

I have been to the miracare website and checked the ip and it says the ip address is high risk and sends spam on a regular basis. This cannot be true im pretty sure my mother isnt too sure what spam is let alone have the capability to send more than 5 emails a year.

Is this likely to be a piece of software on her computer that has caused the ip address to get flagged as a spammer or could it be a mistake on miracare's end?

Thanks
Mattizar

Answer:Email Blocked as a spam address wrongly

I doubt that this would be caused by spyware. If anything they could have hacked her email account. The best option in this case is to contact the email provider and talk to them. Find out details of when these so called spam messages occurred. That will be the best indication that either her system has spyware cause it will match the times she was on her PC or if she has it shut down it will not match times she was on the PC. If she leaves the PC on at all times, you can do scans to see if she is infected. But with the trickery used by such people, just by her reading or opening an attachment sent from someone that was infected she could have been.

Hi folks!
I'm working on my friends pc. It's a Dell Dimension 4400 running XP Home. He called me over cuz he wasn't able to connect using his dial-up connection. His ISP is NetZero and they couldn't help him. It would dial in, confirm his password, disconnect and start dialing again.
I took the pc with me and I tried it on my broadband network. I scanned it with Avira and Malwarebytes and it found a bunch of stuff. MB wasn't able to update but I noticed that Avira was.
I was connected to the internet or so the the pc indicated but wasn't able to load a page. The only way to load a page was to type in the IP address of the website. For example if I wanted to connect to Yahoo.com and I typed Yahoo.com in I couldn't connect but if I typed in 69.147.114.224 the page would load.
And therein lies my question...What in the world is going on here and how do I correct this?
Please help,
God bless!
Pete

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2/SP3.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reboot the machine.

After the restart, please do this and post the results.

Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

NOTE: For the items below in red surrounded with < >, see comments below for the actual information content, they are value substitutions from the previous IPCONFIG command output! Do NOT type <computer_IP_address> into the command, that won't work. Also, the < and > in the text is to identify the parameters, they are also NOT used in the actual commands.

Do NOT include the <> either, they're just to identify the values for substitution.

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address>

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

PING 74.125.45.100

PING yahoo.com

I have IE6 on XP and when I enter an address into the adress bar and hit enter, nothing happens to the ie browser window but the address entered then opens in a new firefox window?

Or if I do get a page to load in ie6, if I click a link on that page, it then opens that link in a new firefox window.

I also have ie7 installed to a temp location so I could test it before doing a full install but it has been working for a while without a problem until recently. IE7 still works fine.

I did the scan with the winxp cd to check my system files.

It is also kind of random and doesn't happen all the time or if I close and restart ie6 it will usually work fine again for a while.

Any ideas on how to fix or what caused it?

thanks

Seting up my Windows Account on a new Windows 8.1 PC I entered an incorrect email address. Towards the end of the setup I was told to check my emails for the code needed to complete the setup process. Clearly I can't find the code because I gave an incorrect email address. So my Microsoft account is in limbo and I can't use it. The computer and Windows 8.1 work fine but I can't use my Windows Account. I've tried a number of things to sort this out without success. Please help.

I bought a new computer and accidentally entered the wrong email address when prompted to create a Microsoft Account.
I cannot change it in Windows 10, as I must first verify the original (wrong) email via a code sent to my wrong email address. Now, how can I access the verification code if I cannot access the wrong email address, which may actually belong to someone else, right?
I must change the wrong email address, but I'm not allowed to do this until I first verify that I own the wrong email address. Crazy...
Can someone please help.
Thanks

MS Windows 7 Pro
MS Outlook 2007

After sending an email and checking the “Sent Items” folder, the To line of the email, I see Outlook just shows the addressee’s email address but not the natural name, as I input it.

Example:  I enter the natural name in the To line as “Joe,” at that point, a pop-up menu opens up with all the “Joes” I’ve previously sent emails to.  I select the correct one – Joe Smith <[email protected]> – and Outlook enters the name as “Joe Smith,” without the email address behind the name.

Later, after sending, a check of the “Sent Items” shows the natural name, “Joe Smith,” was dropped and replaced by [email protected]

Outlook was originally set up to retain the natural name in the To line and recently the program just arbitrarily changed itself.  I’ve checked everywhere in the program in an attempt to correct it, to no avail.

We send hundreds of client emails a month and need to sort by name, not email address.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Question: Reply To address

I just set up an exchange server (2007 beta) in a *.local domain. I am able to send mail internally (to other *.local users), and also externally (to *.yahoo.com type addresses).

Problem is I can't send mail TO my *.local domain, because it's *.local. I want to be able to include a "Reply to" on my *.local email addresses so when I send a message to a non *.local user they can reply to the message and I will get it (although not on the exchange server, which I am aware of.)

I am also running Outlook 2007 connecting to the exchange server.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Reply To address

LOL I post the message, then try a couple things and it works... I ended up adding the non *.local address (my yahoo address) under the SMTP addresses on my *.local mailbox, and set it as the default SMTP address. now when I send mail from my *.local to my *.yahoo.com address, I get a reply-to to my yahoo address. And if I send from *.local to *.local, it still replies back to my *.local address.

You enter this information in the e-mail account properties box. It is usually optional when you set up an account and is normally left blank whereon it defaults to the original senders e-mail account.Go to Tools>Accounts, select your e-mail account and check Properties tab.

I have a mate who is having a problem with his "From" field address in OE and it has me slightly baffled, I wonder if anyone has any ideas. When he clicks the "Create Mail" button everything works as it should, a new blank email opens with his name in the "From" field, ready for him to compose his email and send it. It sends okay and when I receive it, his email address is in the "From" field. Great, that's okay and how it should be.Now, if I (or anyone else) send him an email and he "Replies" to it, his daughter's email address will appear in the "From" field. It also happens if he "Forwards" or clicks to send a "Read Receipt". He has a domain address, i.e. [email protected]_domain.co.uk his daughter's addy is [email protected]_domain.co.uk, his son and wife also have email addresses @his_domain.co.uk but it's always his daughter's address which appears in the "From" field of "Replied to" emails. He can get his addy to appear in the "From" field of "Replied to" emails if he chooses it from the dropdown menu, but he doesn't want to be bothered with doing that all the time.Grateful for any ideas.0E 6 and XP, by the way.

Got a strange one here.
I work in tech support and I took a call from a customer who was getting the error (can't remember the exact details): return address not specified
Now in some cases does the sender HAVE to enter in the reply-to address for the recipents mail server to accept it? Even if it's the same as the sender's email address?

Would this be set up on the mail server as a security measure maybe?
One thing I forgot to mention, the email was being sent to korea (don't know if it's north or south).

Answer:Reply-to address needed??

No

it normally means that she was either replying to an email with an invalid or malformed address
or she entered an incorrect address
The only other cases (very rarely)I have heard of, are where an ISP has set up anti spam measures and the email address of the sender does not correspond with the senders domain, in that case the receiving server will look for a return address with the same domain as the smtp server it has been sent from

I'd like to see if there's a way to change the reply-to address for domain users who are setup to a Windows 2003 Small Business Server R2 running Exchange.

All were on POP accounts, and still are, as I haven't had the go ahead yet to bring in their external emails to the Exchange Server yet but currently (since I had to import their PST files into Exchange after resetting their Outlook 2003s for the Exchange OST files) any emails they reply to from before the change over it automatically sets the Account it's set from to there [email protected]l account and it's a bit of a pain since most emails are getting bounced back since these people have 0 Computer knowledge and constantly forget to change the Account the email is supposed to be sent from to their POP3 account...

Any help is appreciated and will aleve me of my headaches if I can just get the .local account to email out with the replyto coming from their pop account by default regardless of which account it uses.

It has been reported to me by email recipients that when they reply to my emails, occasionally my email address shows up with the domain ?outlook.com?, instead of Yahoo, and the email they sent comes back as undeliverable. I'm told my Yahoo address appears in the From address, but when they hit reply the new To address is to an outlook.com address.

I do not have an outlook account; I do not have Microsoft Outlook installed on my computer. My mail account is with Yahoo and I do not use a mail client other than my browser. This problem ONLY occurs when I use my PC to sent mail. Mail sent from my iPad and laptop does not have this problem. I have checked and double-checked my email account setup and nowhere do I specify outlook.com I have searched my PC, but cannot find where outlook.com is being specified. My PC and laptop are running Windows 7.

Can anyone give me an idea on how my Reply-To email address gets changed when I use Yahoo mail via my browser on my PC, but not when I use my iPad or laptop?

When a friend sends an email from his BT Webmail account, those in receipt of the email see his email address as ******@btinternet.com in the 'From" part of the header. However, when clicking on "Reply" (in my case Outlook 2010) the outgoing address is chanced to *******@outlook.com. Initially he used to open his BT Webmail account using the Microsoft Edge browser and so I changed his default browser to Google Chrome and accessed his BT Webmail account from Chrome to see if that made any difference - but it did not.

His computer has been scanned (and my computer has too) with Avast! and Malwarebytes and no malware has been found. So, I am at a loss to understand why this is happening. Can anyone out there help?

Yes this should be easy to fix, but first I need some more info...How exactly are you using exchange? You are not using exchange mail boxes, but rather POP3 accounts provided by your ISP? I dont see how you would put exchange to work this way...What is the domain this is setup on? Is this in active directory? How are you configuring your clients as exchange accounts or POP3 accounts?

Recently my Outlook 98 email program started doing something peculiar. I use 4 different email accounts and I reply to each of them. When I press the Send button, instead of using the email address that the original message was addressed to as the originating address of the Reply, Outlook is picking a different account from my list of accounts as the originating address. I can go to Send on the File menu and choose the correct originating address, but for some reason, the program is defaulting to a different address. I tried removing the address it was choosing and it started choosing my default email account. I re-established the removed account and the program is still choosing the default account it picked when the removed one was gone. I tried making some other accounts the default and it seems to be choosing the default as the originating address for replies regardless of which address the original message I am replying to was addressed to. I hope that some kind and knowledgable person can tell me what's screwed up here and how to fix it.

BTW, my machine is a Dell Pentium III, with 512 mb memory running Windows 98SE updated with patches.

Hello,

Not sure if this is actually a malware issue, but I figured it'd be a good place to start.

Occasional connectivity issues with home wifi. Using a TP-Link WR-841N with current (TP-Link) firmware. It's setup with standard security. Admin login id and pw has been changed to a fairly complex login. WiFi is using WPA2-PSK again with a fairly complex password.

Home network is pretty standard...
Wired: 2 PCs, 1 camera, 1 XboxOne*
Wireless: Chromecast, PS3, iPad and 2-3 iPhones depending on who is home

Periodically I have connectivity issues (wireless) and reset the router and connection generally comes back. One time, after extensive problems, logged into router to find ~6 blocked devices. I've never blocked devices manually like that, so not sure how they got there. Removed the block and changed router admin password.

Today, went to desktop PC and had no internet connectivity. Reset of router resolved it. However, in the process I noticed that it was reporting my desktop IP address as: 12:34:56:12:34:56. That seemed like a suspicious address. Open cmd prompt and 'getmac' confirmed that as the reported address. Ipconfig /all likewise.

I run MSE/Defender and generally don't go looking for trouble...no torrents or pirated software.

*Some things of note...
1) the xBoxOne was a recent (60 days) refurb purchase (Amazon) that shipped from Taiwan.

2) The surveillance camera was purchased 6 months ago from Amazon and shipped from China. I was run... Read more

Hello,
I have Internet explorer 5, and been having a problem with it. Every time I try connecting to the web site 'Auctionarms.com' it uses the old incorrect IP address 216.25.99.19 instead of the correct IP of 216.25.120 66. Below is the response I got form the webmaster when I told them of my problem.
"That's really strange. The old IP - 216.25.99.19 - was one we used over a year ago. But it no longer exists as a server - and it certainly isn't in our code. Try flushing the cache on your browser. Also, if you still get it, send me the complete URL of the old address."
I tried what he said with no success. I can type the new IP number into the address bar and the browser will go to the site, but will only partially load it. Also, none of the links work because the browser will automatically go back to the old IP. The site works OK with Netscape navigator on my computer. Any idea want I can do to get it running on IE5.
Thanks,
Dave

I have tried manually configuring to match the router and it still does not read anything.

I also have problems with this laptop using a D-Link wireless card.

When I connect using a Mac laptop running OS X Mountain Lion I have no problem getting online. The IP range on the Mac is as expected 192.168.1.xxx.

I have run netsh winsock reset commands on both of the Windows machines. Any suggestions on getting the Windows machines to connect using the correct IP Address range is appreciated.

Hi,
I am currently living in student halls, and so far I have been successfully using the halls' provided internet (ethernet port in wall) via a wireless router (belkin wireless ADSL). Until now.
I have been unable to connect or the internet either via the router, or by direct connection to the wall.
Whilst connected directly into the wall socket via the ethernet cable, my pc still thinks that I am connecting directly into the modem, and still labels the wired LAN connection as 'belkin 54g', despite the router not being connected at all.
I have called the technical support for the network, and they have told me that my computer is assigning the wrong ipv4 address, and they had me do a cmd prompt and run ipconfig /reset and ipconfig /renew. This still did not solve the problem, as my PC still tried to connect with the same incorrect IP address. I know the problem is not with the ethernet port or cable, as I have tried in another room that has a working connection, and I still am unable to connect to the internet (DNS error on chrome).
I also asked if the network provider could give me a manual ip address to use, but apparently the network uses revolving ip addresses. Another thing I have tried is disabling an enabling the network adapter. There also doesn't appear to be a problem with the wireless network adapter, as I am currently posting this through the halls' common area wifi network.
Please help, I can't live without internet in my room.

Hi

Could someone please confirm that the correct subnet mask for IP address 10.0.10.0 is 255.255.255.0 and not 255.0.0.0. Any help would be great. thanks in advance.

Does anyone know how to edit hidden info within the HP BIOS? I have a laptop that was sent out for repair; it came back with a different system board. The BIOS is set with a generic MAC that doesn't match the sticker on the system board.

Answer:How to Correct an Invalid MAC address in BIOS

In actuality, the MAC address originates from the network device that is built into the motherboard.  HERE IS A PAGE indicating this point. It cannot be edited.

I am currently setup as a LAN on my WIN98 Operating system using Linksys Router (BEFW11S4) which generates IP Addresses using DHCP. The problem is incoming callers to my system cannot make contact because of using these DHCP IP addresses which are internal to my LAN. Is there a way such as using a command to identify my system correct IP addresses which is generated by my ISP without calling them at the time we're ready to use NetMeeting?

Answer:Correct IP Address for NetMeeting Calls

They will be using the WAN address of your broadband service, not an internal LAN address. You need to setup the port forwarding in the router to open the ports required.

Now the bad news. Netmeeting requires you basically open all the ports for it to work properly! They use a dynamic port scheme that is very firewall/router unfriendly. I'd recommend you consider a different program, because using Netmeeting will basically open you up to anything on the Internet.

Hello,

I am trying to install the Samsung 4828FN (all in one laser printer) on my network. I am using their SetIP program but it is not recognizing the MAC Address even though it is the one that prints out on the network config report. The network is connected, at least I see the green light on where the cable plugs in.

A similar question was up earlier but the answer has expired.

thanks,

John

Answer:Solved: Samsung 4828FN MAC Address not correct

I have solved the issue. Found a bit of advice elsewhere:

"First of all, make sure that the fixed IP address of your printer is on
the same subnet as the IP addresses assigned by your DG824. In other
words, each of the devices should have an IP address of 192.168.x.y,
where x is the same for all. Make sure that the printer also has the
same x (and a y that is outside the range of addresses assigned by the
DG824)."

Even though my router isn't NetGear DG (it's Linksys) this still worked. I changed the IP on the printer to be 192.168.1.200 and then the network found it.

I did read the Samsung Manual but all it said was to enter in an IP address with no clue given regarding what numbers to use.

Thanks. John.

I have that problem where those 'Cannot find...Make sure the path or internet address is correct' popups keep appearing.

I've scanned my PC wth MBAM, Super Anti Spyware and TrendMicro Internet Security Pro but none of them seem to find or eliminate what it causing this and it is getting worse - i.e. the popups appear more frequently.

I've posted the HJT log below:

Can anyone assist me in how to get rid of this?

Thanks

Hi

An organisation I'm in received an unsolicitied email from a media company which looks like a circular, asking the user to check out their videos etc.

The strange thing is, the email's "To" field contains a name that has not been publicly associated with the organisation - in fact, the user it is addressed to doesn't use the internet, and hasn't got an email address, and never has had one.

My question is, how would this work? Did the sender have to fill out the name manually into the "To" field? Or is there any other explanation?

The email address that received the email is hushmail.

Thanks!

I have not been able to connect to a corporate mail server for one of my email accounts.  Our contract IT person tells me the IP address for the mail server I am trying to connect to is being changed.  He thinks there may be malware redirecting the IP address.

However, I have several other email accounts hosted by Godaddy and I am having no problems with those accounts.

Please help. Its driving me insane.

Answer:Ie 7 Cannot Find 'http:///'. Make Sure The Path Or Internet Address Is Correct

Check your startup list and see if you have hpprintspool.exe listed. If so, most fixes are to remove that entry from start up. Use google for hpprintspool.exe to find the fix that most closely duplicates your situation. If hpprintspool.exe, not in startup, please let us know and hopefully someone else has another idea. The two times I've heard of this it has been the .exe I mention.

"cannot find http://<random characters>make sure the path or internet address is correct"

Symptoms:
1) Internet Explorer will often not open if it or a shortcut are double clicked.
It is seen in task manager, trying again results in another iexplore.exe showing up in task manager.
Ending task on it and retrying a few times will usually get it to open.

2) If it does open, clicking a link will usually result in the "cannot find http://<random characters>" error.
Manually typing links in the address bar works fine.
I'm pretty sure I had the "cannot find" error in safemode as well, I can check that again if anyone needs me to.

I'm using Chrome as my primary browser now, it seems to work fine, though now and then I get the "chrome has crashed" error, unsure if this is the result of some sort of malware/hijacker as well, or running the beta version of Chrome with a lot of tabs open.

Company laptop, has Trend MICRO on it, though it finds nothing. The windows firewall is disabled by group policy, and the Trend Micro firewall is used instead.

the items were:

Threat:JS:Downloader-AIS [Trj]

The window saying "cannot find http://<random charcters>make sure the path or internet address is correct" appears constantly and when i hit OK or 'X', it opens a new IE7 window. This has only started happening in the last few days. I have run a full scan on avg(it found 2 trojans and tracking cookies, which i deleted). I have also run scans on Malwarebytes(many infected files that I deleted) and Superantispyware(no threats). I thought these scans had solved my problems but they appeared again last night. hopefully someone can help me. thanks

Answer:IE "Cannot find <garbage characters>. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct." error. Cannot use IE...

After doing some more research, I fixed the problem. It was really bizarre, whenever I launched IE I would get a message box with the following error: "Cannot find 'http://<garbage characters>'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct." After clicking [OK] it would then try to open up IE again, basically causing an infinite loop of errors.Firefox would not run either. As soon as I launched Firefox it would crash immediately.I tried removing and reinstalling Firefox and also tried upgrading to IE8. Nothing worked. The IE8 install gt hung trying to download. To make a long story short, I found this thread via google:http://www.d-a-l.com/help/general-internet...-name-make.htmlI restored my Internet options from Control Panel and everything works again. It was pretty brutal, I think the Internet options were set set to another language and that caused all of the problems. Malwarebytes and Adaware did not detect any problems.Hopefully, this will help someone else with the same problem.-Zork

I had someone tell me they kept getting the message:Cannot find 'http://?xi ??...' make sure the path or internet address is correctEvery time they'd start Internet Explorer 7. I scanned with Malware bytes, but it didn't fix the problem. I then ran Autoruns. The user told me that this started happening yesterday some time. I went to the internet explorer section of Autoruns, and found that an add-ingoogletoolbar.dll had a modified date of yesterday afternoon. It also oddly didn't have the Google, Inc. tag under the software vendor column. So I un-installed the Google Toolbar, and deleted the Program Files directory, and the error message stopped coming up.I don't know if it was Malware trying to replace the google toolbar, or if the google toolbar itself was broken, but anyway that's what fixed my issue. I know Christo82 posted about this problem below, but I could not reply.PatEDIT: MovedPosting a fix not a problem

There are several post like mine out there already but none of the solutions have worked for me. When I am connected to my company LAN I can go to Google (my home page) in IE7 on an XP Corp SP3 Laptop. about every other time I click on a link I get the following error box.Whether I click ok on the error or click the X, a new browser window opens maximises and opens my home page. When I am on my home network the behavior is different, (probably because my home firewall is not blocking the site) When i click any link from my home page there is no error box but my click gets hijacked to an advertisement or fake virus protection sites. Here is what I have tried:1. Full scan and immunize with Spybot S & D (found a lot of cookies etc. didn't fix this issue)2. Full scan with Symantec Endpoint protection (finds trojans once a day, probably friends of this issue)3. Full scan with Malwarebytes (fixed other issues it found but not this one)4. Purchased full version of Spyware Dr (found and fixed 4 issues but not this one)5. Hi jgardner,Welcome to BC HijackThis forum. I am farbar. I am going to assist you with your problem. One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.A backdoor Trojan can allow an attacker to gain control of the system, log keystrokes, steal passwords, access personal data, send malevolent outgoing traffic, and close the security warning messages displayed by some anti-virus and security programs.I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the Operating System. Please read these for more information:How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? When Should I Format, How Should I ReinstallWe can still try to clean this machine but I might not be able to make sure it will be 100% secure afterward. Please tell me if you want to go on with cleaning.

Answer:stop date being entered if older than last entered date

I believe that this version will do what I think you want. (How's that for confidence?)It's a bit shorter than your version because it basically does 2 fairly simple things:It checks the Date that was entered in K6, then either presents a MsgBox that the date is invalid or it copies the date to the 2 cells, D5 and Column R.You will also notice that the code does not Unprotect the sheet until it has been determined that the date will be copied. Besides being ineffcient to Unprotect the sheet before we know if the sheet will be changed, it is also more dangerous. Let's assume that the Unprotect instruction is placed before the instruction that checks the date. Now let's assume that the user enters an invalid date. The MsgBox will appear and the code will pause while it waits for the user to click OK. During the pause the sheet is Unprotected because the Unprotect instruction has already been executed. If the user hits Ctrl-Break while the MsgBox is on the screen, he can stop the code. The sheet will then be left Unprotected. However, if the code doesn't Unprotect the sheet until just before the Date is copied, it would be next to impossible for the user to hit Ctrl-Break during the very brief time that the sheet is Unprotected.
Sub datepaste3()

'Determine last row with data in Column R

Very frustrated over here. I have windows mail and three different emails that are set up with it. My main one, my work, is set as my default email address. When I compose a new message is pops up as the default, yet when I reply to a message the other two pop up. All of my emails that this has been happening on have been those sent to my default email address Stressed out over here.

Answer:When I reply to an email, my default email address is not the first one that pops up

I have answered in your other thread.

So I typed about a 5000 word reply in the quick reply box on a vbulliten forum. I usually Ctrl+C when I am worried I will lose my post, but I forgot, and thought I wouldn't need it, since I was done and about to submit it. So I submitted it, and guess what?

Your submission could not be processed because the token has expired.

Please push the back button and reload the previous window.Click to expand...

I press the back button and the message is gone!

Now I KNOW there is someway to get that message back. My browser (Chrome) must send the information to the server, so my post has to be somewhere in the information Chrome wants to send to the server, right? That's why when I refresh the page, it says this:

Only problem is I have no idea how to get that.

Any help would be really appreciated! I'm sure a lot of you know how losing a long post feelings like.

Answer:Lost an extremely long reply on a forum. How to get my reply back?

If it was just typed into a form field on a web page it is not saved or cached anywhere.

If i receive an email and reply or reply all, it defaults to my wifes email address as the from address, when it should clearly be mine, the recipient. If my wife does the same it is okay. I am the default setting on the account, although this should not have a bearing on it. Has anyone any ideas. I have deleted the accounts and re-entered them, but to no avail.

Answer:Outlook Express 6 reply and reply all

Dont know the cause, but a workround is click on arrow next to your wifes address, hilite yours and send. Bit of a pain but at least you will get the right address on it.

Hey there, i am having a problem with my Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset - the microphone doesn't want to work... oddly. I have tried the sound setting but it doesn't seem to work.
I started of by going to Sound > Recording > then it says three thing:
Microphone .... with a tick beside it ... working
Microphone FP .... Not Plugged in (When it clearly is)(Headset comes with detachable Mic)
Digital In... working.

Also when i try fiddle with the setting to enable the microphone it does not let me "configure" it .... and when i try set up the microphone it doesn't want to start up unless i disable the microphone it would say "Wizard could not start"

My Microphone is not on mute and the the jacks are correctly colour coded in place.
My sound Cards is : Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
Headset: Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset - Noise Cancellation Microphone with Gold Plated 3.5mm Jack
It the one with the detachable microphone - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/128208
The microphone is defiantly working when i configure the speakers, so that i can speak through the microphone and hear out the speakers but i can't record
Thank You, look forward in reading your replies

i have the same headset and i havent had any problems, i dont think the issue is with the headset itself but rather it being with the soundblaster, any chance you could take a snip of the sound inputs for me to try and establish a bit more information?

I had mounted this original intel HSF on my E6300(conroe) after applying Arctic MX-2 on it, but was still seeing insane temps.

One of the mounts (of the HSF) was not properly mounted when I checked..
Here's the pic of the HSF seen after removing it from the motherboard..

This shows it was wrong?
This was the reason for the high temps?

ok, i bought a ti4400 gfx card from www.ebuyer.com a few months ago, but it blew, so they replaced, however the new one isn't recognised by windows as a 4400, it seems to think that i have a 4200. the screen b4 the post says that it is a 4400, and the board design looks identical to the old one.
I don't think it is a driver porblem, cos i tried various differant ones, and it runs at the correct clock speed cos i checked using an overclocking prog.
I can't be arsed to send it back because it was a helluva lot of hassle first time, and i don't want to go through having to phone everyday to check where my card is again.
any ideas on the probem, if it affects proformance and how to fix?
thnx

Answer:geforce4 wrongly recognised

I dont know how to fix it, but one thing I can tell you is - The manufactorer of a video card is a key component to it. If you get a high-end vid.card, get a good manufactor!(Visiontek,Gainword,LeadTek,etc)... You wont run into these problems, and the picture quailty on your moniter will be 10x sharper. I learnt this lesson the hard way, as you are. Hope everyone takes this advice.

I have Google toolbar and one other running.

When I right-click in the grey area of the browser to list what toolbars are running and to hide them, if I uncheck Google, the other toolbar disappears and vice-versa.

I have changed what the other toolbar is from time to time, but no matter what the other is, the toolbars are always wrongly labelled.

Do you know how to fix this??

Hi

My mains-powered desktop PC (runs XP Home) has started entering standby when it shouldn't. I've changed nothing which to my knowledge might cause this. I've gone to Control Panel Power Options and confirmed it's set to shut down anything or enter standby, yet it still goes to standby & requests password when I revive it. This is immensely frustrating. Any ideas?

Hi
I live alone and no other person ever has access to my Galaxy 2. Earlier this month I received a message on screen saying I had been charged £1 for Data Usage. I went into 02 to query this and was told, oh, you must have had your wifi switched on and the charge is for an automatic update. I said, I had never ever used my phone for wifi and the assistant showed me how to ensure wifi was switched off. I phoned the customer helpline and was told the £1 would be refunded. Each night before switching phone off, I checked that wifi icon was off. I am on PAYG and hardly use my phone but earlier this week, I noticed my credit had gone down rapidly. Co-incidentally, I received a call from 02 asking if I was satisfied with their service. Of course, I said definitely not. Well this person said wifi is free and does not have to be switched off and she talked me through going to where the mobile data activation was and so I made sure this was not on and said I would switch wifi off, just to be certain. She then said, she could see on SIX consecutive days from December 2nd, I had been charged £1 each day for automatic updates. She then gave me the address of where to write to complain about this. Horrified is not the word, I am disgusted that my credit can be used up for something I have not activated. If that was not bad enough, earlier today, yes, Xmas Day, another message came saying you have been charged £1 for an automatic update, bla de bla. I now will have... Read more

Thanks rdave for reading my post. I am on PAYG with 02 and so am assuming it is they who are taking my credit. The person who rang and helped me find where to locate the mobile data "switch" was an 02 employee and she read out the log showing that the charge was levied on six consecutive days from 2nd December. I cannot think who else would be able to take it other than 02. As I said, I dare not top up and will have to keep my phone switched off because if this situation continues, it is money down the grid. I am upset and furious and just do not know how to stop this.

Change your provider as it is easy enough on PAYG.

Hi to everyone who reads this.

I have a problem in IE8 when I want to access a particular webpage, one I could visit without problems a while ago. It's like the items on that page are in a different format and the pictures on that site are also wrongly displayed.

On this site (Vista 64) or any other I don't have that issue.

To make things clear I'll add a screenshot.

Does anyone have an idea on how to resolve this?
Thanks for your effort and advice.

Hi,

I need help and hopefully a logical answer.

I was wrongly accused to have logged on a PC yesterday, and as proof, they exhibited my profile that appeared in the C:\Documents and Settings\my username.

I did logon to that PC 2 months ago, which i don't deny, as show the local settings, the desktop, my documents, etc... with the date of 2 months ago when i first and ONLY TIME logged on to that PC.

However, i NEVER logged onto that PC yesterday, nevertheless, there is a NTUSER.DAT.LOG txt in my profile on that PC, with the date of yesterday !!!!!

How is this possible ???? (gremlins excluding ;-) . Also nobody could have logged with my password.

I would so much appreciate your help, as they are threatening with disciplinary action, in light of my profile showing a NTUSER.DAT.LOG with this date of yesterday on that PC and they don't believe that i did NOT login yesterday.

Thanks so much for your help, and a maybe a logical answer

Answer:wrongly accused of logging on a PC

Well obviously someone has your password and logged on with your account. If this is at work I suggest changing your password and being careful who is around when you log in. Oh if you have the password saved so you do not have to type it in or saved else where on the computer delete it right away.

When I did a Function Test, It said that my Right Axis is Recognized as 1, 2, 3, 4 Buttons of Game-pad.. But When I press the 1, 2, 3, 4 Buttons it says that it is the same buttons..

What to do?
How to change this?

I'm sure this problem must have been covered before, but several searches of the forum have not thrown any relevant threads up. I'm sorry if I've missed them.

I have just bought a new pc with Windows 7 after many years with XP. I'm really missing Outlook Express but trying to find my way around Windows Live Mail.

The most frustrating thing is emails from a person on my contact list, who I've also added to the safe sender list, keep being flagged as phishing. Every time I have to unblock it on the pink bar at the top of the email, then move it to the appropriate folder, even though I have a message rule to filter it to the correct folder. I get a lot of mail from this person - 14 already today! Is there any way I can stop their emails being blocked?

Answer:Mail wrongly marked as phishing

Give Gmail a try instead its a very good alternative.

Answer:Wrongly Assigned Keyboard buttons

Go back to the vendor. It looks as if Windows is set up for a UK keyboard (which I presume is what you want) but you have a US keyboard. If they sold it with a US keyboard, they should have clearly stated that. You could try changing the configuration to a US keyboard (Control Panel, Regional and Language options, Languages, click Details) so the @ and # keys work OK, but you still won't have a sign.
