I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Monitor Colour

It could possibly be the monitor or the video card but first of all try replugging the video cable (at both ends )

Question: monitor colour

ive recently set up dual monitors, and i have noticed the colour on the old crt im using is not right. it is slightly purple. the vga connector has 1 pin missing, and i think that may be the problem.

it is one of those annoying cables where one end actually goes into the back of the monitor, so i dont think i will be able to replace it.

is there anything i can do about this? i was thinking maybe getting a spare pin from another cable and stuffing it in or something.

anyone??

Answer:monitor colour

Yeah my screen was like that, but it was green... I just opened up the screen took another cable, and re-soldered all the good wires at the right place.

I have an older PC which I Use only for the word processor but for some reason the monitor comes up purple on boot up, but all the icons etc are present. If I reapeat starting up a couple of times it eventually clears. Have I got a fault on the system or is the monitor on it,s way out

Answer:Colour of Monitor

Could be either the monitor or the video controller. It does sound like a heat related fault with some component just at the edge of tolerance.......Only guessing, but I don't think it is motherboard etc, unless the video card is an integral part.

Check the cables, looking to see if any pins are bent. Unplug and replug them, its usually as simple as that.

Otherwise its possible that the electronics to a gun have died.

When I updated video drivers for the onboard Nvidia chip, Nvidia Desktop was installed.Nvidia Desktop has facilities to tweak monitor colour settings. You can save these settings to be applied at start up.I like to have as little as poss running in the background or loading at start-up so I have disabled Nvidia Desktop.I was happy with monitor hardware settings which I configured manually using the monitor's buttons. The trouble is that now the monitor starts dark and the buttons have lost the ability to lighten the screen sufficiently.( I can start Nvidia Desktop which will then apply its own setting - so there is nothing wrong with the tube)When I open Display Properties | Settings tab | Advanced | Colour Management , it reads "Current monitor: Default monitor profile None>". I can hit a button to add a monitor profile but all I seem to have are printer colour profiles to select from.So there are no monitor profiles to load and something has happened to the chip in the monitor ?? Is there any chance of acquiring a 'monitor profile' or something. I am loath to start finding and installing earlier Nvidia driverswhich would prob not re-instate the profiles, anyway ?Any thoughts, please ?Win98SE, monitor CS990DC,

When I open a program, regardless of what it is, my monitor tints everything slightly green. If I close or minimise everything the green tint disappears. It's not a problem at this point so much as a concern that my fairly recently purchased monitor might be dying. However, it's really strange that the green tint only appears when a window is open. Would it be fair to say that my monitor is dying, or could it be a software problem of some kind?

Answer:Monitor changing colour

Hello..

It is possible that the monitor is going bad, but I would check the video card driver first. You might want to update it.

If possible, check the monitor on a second system and see if it does it. I have seen it work both ways... One time the monitor was actually bad, but the other time, it was just the video card driver.

Hello there! (I'm new! )

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. When comparing my LCD monitors, I notice that one of them isn't displaying colours properly.

An example: This image (from wikipedia) http://upload.wikimedia.org/fundraising/2007/people-meter-ltr.png is of some cute cartoon people. I can't see the grey people at all on my monitor (the colours are quite close to white).

Also, everything that's supposed to be darker grey is a light green colour... which to me seems like I should turn the contrast down. This of course makes the screen seem darker, but not solving the green-ness problem. Hmm.

So I'm rather confused! I'm measuring this against my good monitor and there's a big difference.

Both monitors are running off the same graphics card and are identical models.

Does anyone have a guess at what the problem might be?

Cheers I'm off to the web development board now... much less confusing than hardware! haha.

Chris

I have a just bought a very old but serviceable Dell monitor which has a serial number but no model number on it. The only controls are 4 buttons on the front - one power, 2 labelled plus and minus, and another which calls up a menu (of sorts). However, I haven't been able to make much sense of the menu, which is clearly not designed to be used with a mouse. Sadly, I have no manual. And without a model number I can't even use the Dell website to ask questions about it - Catch 22.
The monitor is about 14", and works fine except for the colour balance. When it is on but not connected, a 'screen saver' wanders across the screen demonstrating the 3 primary colours plus white, which proves happily that it can produce accurate colours; but when I connect it to my PC (VGA), whatever appears on the screen has a marked greenish-yellow tinge, quite different from what is showing on my primary monitor. Any suggestions as to how I can find the instructions for altering the colour balance?

Answer:Colour Balance On My Second Monitor

You're a great detective, Laz 2! Yes, it is LCD. No, it's not exactly that model, because it is about 14" on the diagonal (12" horizontal); but the physical appearance is otherwise identical (even the shape of the stand), so I'm guessing it is a smaller version of the E173FP, which means the User Guide you suggest will almost certainly be relevant. (There may even be such a thing as the E143!).
I'm too busy to experiment for the moment (got to retrieve the monitor from the attic!) but I'll report back as soon as I've bottomed this out.
Thanks again for a rapid and helpful response.

On some high resolution images 1080p 24bit images I get some colour banding, same can be said for SD and HD videos. Plus on the Windows GUI

Just wondering if someone knows what the problem actually is?

Answer:New monitor colour banding

According to the LG website your monitor eliminates color banding when using HDMI with version 1.3 , if you don't use a cable with these specifications it may be part of the problem.

I have just bought myself a nice 22" wide screen Samsung SyncMaster 225BW to go with my new vista setup.

I also have a 19" Neove F-419 monitor which has been very nice and worked amazingly the whole time i've had it.

I upgraded my whole system and kept the older monitor so I can run dual screen on my Point of View Nividia 7600GT Both on DVI

Love dual screen and helps me multitask and I will never go back to one monitor BUT after a lot of tweaking I have noticed after getting the picture colours correct the white on my Neovo F419 is white but the white on the Syncmaster 225BW is yellowy white.

Hi,

I have a Samsung Syncmaster 940BW monitor connected to my computer however it does not appear to display white properly, its performance varies from program to program. I have attached several screen grabs from my computer showing the differences in colour, unfortunately the problem may be hard to explain.

The screenshot 'adobeerror' appears white through firefox or mozilla (i.e. when I upload it to this message and looked at the preview it was white) however when i open it anywhere else on my computer it all appears the same colour as the orange surrounding the picture in the file 'orangevswhite'. Furthermore my adobe photoshop displays all whites in the same colour (the tangerine/orange colour). I have uninstalled adobe previously and reinstalled, it does nothing.

In the picture 'orangevswhite' I have also questioned whether the colour surrounding the photos in window sphoto gallery should be orange or if it should be white, I do not know since some of the time, white appears that colour also. If it is indeed orange, can you change it? it makes viewing photos a very strange experience since it makes colours in photos appear wrong.

I have recently upgraded my system and changed over to XP Home from Windows 98SE. My problem is that I am unable to match photographs on screen with my printer. My new monitor is an LG flatron 17" and my printer, from my old system is an Epson colour 740. When used with my old monitor(Hansol 900P) the results obtained were excellent but for some reason, probably down to my lack of knowledge I am unable to get a satisfactory print using my new system. I am currently using Photoshop Elements 2.0 I have gone through the Adobe Gamma set up and created an ICC profile which slightly improved the end result.I have set up my printer according to the Color Management procedure. If I set this to print "Same as Scource" the resulting print is hardly visible. Using the "perceptual"& AdobeRGB(1998) set up slighly improves the print but it is still not acceptable. I have tried using the quick fix setting in the programme where the resuling image on screen is almost too dark to see but the print is still pale and washed out. I think that I can recall some time ago a discussion about a similar problem on this Forum but have been unable to locate it. After laying out a fair bit of monry for the new system I am reluctant to switch back to the older monitor. If the problem is just a printer incompatibility one I would be happy to upgrade. Answer:Colour Matching between TFT Monitor & Printer

I've just cured the same problem with my system using a system called DISC 1. Using this system you print off a course colour chart showing 30 pictures in variations of the grey scale. By picking out the picture that resembles the closest possible grey without any colour casts you can then adjust the colour balance of the programme you are using or on the printer, each picture gives you figures for the colours that require adjustment. For example the picture that resembled grey on my system suggested an increase of 5 yellow and 5 red. If you e-mail me I'll send you a demo.

Since installing Adobe Photoshop elements I have an extra item on Control Panel - Adobe Gamma which gives a procedure for optimizing monitor settings. I experimented without much success & cannot see what more this function is offering compared to using the monitor control buttons on the side of the screen. So I reset. My problem is really how to get photos looking the same when printed as when on screen. I have set Colour Preference in Adobe to "no colour management" - but this seems to conflict with the need to select a colour profile in Adobe Gamma. I end up confused ! Anyone able to help ? I use Windows XP & an HP PSC 2115 & have selected the same colour profile in both. Thanks Thanks.

I found it to be a bit problematical too. I finished up having to tweak my printer settings to achieve an exact match. For a bit more insight try click here in the "How To" section. I realise it's a different manufacturer to your printer but it might give you an idea how to get settings which will produce good results but you still might need to tweak.CheersCarl

I've just hooked up a second crt monitor to my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and it works fine except for the fact the at it seems to be displaying purple more than any of the other colours. This isn't just in Windows it happens when booting up in Dos as well. Anyone know a fix.

I'll explain a bit more. When the monitors are connected to the just VGA out they both display completely correctly but when either one of them uses the DVI-VGA adaptor on the DVI Output Connection that game with the ATI card they display in this werid kinda of purple colour that takes over the white in the display.

I have noticed in the diagram that the DVI-VGA out might only be made for anagloue flat panel monitors but I think it would be pretty stupid to stop people using dual CRT monitors.

The two monitors are Philps 107x2 Flat panel

Answer:Dual CRT monitor colour problems

I have an Nvidia card so i am unsure of this exactly, but you should have an adjustment somewhere in your settings for the card to adjust the individual colors(examples, lowering the amount of purple coming out of the DVI-VGA port)

Hi. I'm running dual dell 1704 fpv monitors on win xp pro using a 128mb nvdia graphics card, one monitor using a digital input, the other using analogue. I've not noticed until today, but there's quite a colour (or brightness/gamma??) difference between the two. I'm a web designer, and only noticed today when using Photoshop that having designed a site layout on the digital screen, when I move the app over to the analogue the colours are quite different eg blues are paler / different shade, and oranges appear yellow. Also where I've used an image on 10% transparency on the digital monitor it looks good and just visible to appear behind text, on the analogue screen its barely visible! This is quite a worry. I checked on my laptop, and the image appears the same as the analogue display. so the digital is giving me an enhanced display, I guess as its more accurate. The problem is, I need obviously to design for how the majority of users will see it. I'd ideally like both monitors to represent the same thing so I can work on either. I've loaded the correct Dell drivers, played with colour settings, all to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas, or experienced this, and is there any solution??

Answer:Dual monitor colour problem

Check Monitor settings in Display properties, are both the same. or check the on screen buttons on the monitor, Tally

My monitor lives in a garden shed. Normally, there is a heater in there, but i have not worked out there much this winter - getting too old to get cold in the winter (no, not THAT old). Anyway, I went out to print something the other day, docked the laptop, and the TFT monitor came up in just shades of red, no blues or greens or yellows at all. panic stations. colours were fine on the laptop. Printed fine, too. next day, no picture at all on monitor. Two days later (warmer weather now), no problem, everthing back to normal.

Am completely baffled. What's going on? It's nearly out of warranty so I don't want to waste time, but it's a bit of a trek back to PCWorld to complain if I havent got a problem.

Anybody understand this?

Thanks a million!

Hi, I need to calibrate my monitors to my printer (HP designjet 130nr) to match the colour outputs. At the moment the print outs are a lot darker than on my monitor. I have been looking at calibration packages such as the Eye-One Display 2 and the Spyder3Pro. Both of which are around 150(!) and have mixed/no reviews on amazon.

Can anyone recommend and particular packages for my task? Or even any cheaper methods of calibration between the two? I have searched online and come up with little.

Thanks

Answer:Monitor has turned into pink colour

Tighten the cable to the computer. Remove the monitor cable from the computer. Make sure that the little nuts that the cable screws into are tight, and not missing. What kind of monitor is it? A big heavy CRT monitor or a thin lighter LCD monitor?

Last Fall I changed up to a 17" Monitor, made by Dell, used, and a the same time installed an SVGA card. I cannot get 256 bit color resolution nor can I get past 840 x 600 pixels with the Hardware Graphics Accelerator on high. The SVGA card came with its own software which I did install but I am wondering if there is a conflict with the differing driver software, like the Microsoft vs the Card software that is causing all this. Do I need a dedicated driver file for the Dell monitor and, if so, how do I get one without having to deal with Dell's cookie monster? Thanks in advance

Answer:Colour vs Monitor Driver File Issues

Since the video card was installed at the same time as the monitor, it is much more likely to be the source of the problem.

How much VRAM is on the card? A 1MB card will not be able to run more than 256 colors at any resolution higher than 800x600, for instance.

I bought an LCD monitor (ViewSonic VA1703wb) last week and for the first few days it was working fine. Then, it started to flicker, i.e. the colours blue or pink would flash on and off, tinting the screen.

Previously, I had a CRT monitor which was permanently tinted a deep pink or blue. I was told that the guns in the monitor were busted.

My graphics card is old, an nVidia GeForce 4 MX440 with AGP 8X (drivers are updated). To try to determine if the problem was the card, I switched the LCD monitor's plug to the integrated card - but it wouldn't work. 'No signal' would appear and then the monitor would just turn off (the light went orange).

Then, I went to the Device Manager and disabled the nVidia card (while still keeping the monitor plugged in to that card). Now, the colour appears to be fine and there's no flickering, but there's no right option for the resolution (I'm using a 17" widescreen) and everything is generally slow and crappy.

I've also checked the cables to see if they were loose and the pins to see if they were bent.

Buying a new graphics card isn't really going to happen right now, so my questions are:

1) Is it really a problem with the graphics card? If it is, is there any way to fix it without getting a new one?
2) How do I determine if the integrated card can support the LCD monitor?

Answer:LCD Monitor/Graphics Card Colour Problem

Am I reading that you've disabled the NVidia card, but the monitor is still plugged into it and now the colors are fine?

Hey, I have a Samsung 19" widescreen LCD monitor that I use for my PC. It is being run through HDMI but also works with VGA and typical TV inputs. (Model number LA19R71B) It works great and I enjoy using it although it has an unusual characteristic. The color of the monitor is fine whenever its in the native resolution (1440x900) but it seems whenever it rescales to a lower or higher than normal resolution, the color is extremely bright and strong and while there is nothing wrong with the amount of color when in native mode I would love if it had the same level of color as when its not.
This is very apparent when I run a game, like Braid, that has no support for my resolution, so it attempts to rescale the lower resolution, but as it does, the colors become very strong and great. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Answer:Unusual colour behaviour with Samsung monitor

Just a suggestion; try un-installing and re-installing your display drivers. Also, see if this happens in another OS such as a Linux Live CD.

My friends monitor has her screen showing a pink cast and it looks like the picture has pixels missing/breaking up. This happens whether she is on the internet or not. When she turns on her PC the screen is dimmer/pink etc. She has changed her monitor to see if this solves the problem (it didnt) she then unplugged the cables and blew away dust, that didnt help. She has run AVG; Ad-aware; Spybot all to no avail. The PC is 7 years old. No new software or any changes were made before this happened. We are not very technical, is there anything else she can do or does she have to buy another PC?

Answer:monitor - colour problem/picture breaking up

Reloading the driver software for the video display adapter on the PC would certainly be worth a try, but it does have the possibility of a hardware failure within the PC.

Ok, here's the problem. I have a standard Dell Plug and Play monitor which has been running fine for 3 years now. My graphics card is a PNY Verto GeForce FX 5200 (128mb). I turn on my PC this morning to see a bubble on the taskbar saying my resolution and colour quality are all very low. The resolution has gone down to 640x480 and the colour quality is 4 bit. I can change it back to 800x600 (4bit), but when i try to change either the colour quality on ANY resolution, or put the resolution higher than 800x600, and then click 'apply', the screen turns black for a second or two, and nothing has changed. I still get the little box saying "your desktop has been reconfigured" etc etc. but nothing has changed! im still left with 640x480 on 4 bit quality, and hardly any decent games or applications can run on that!im very grateful for any help. Hi,I have had a look around the rest of the website but can't seem to find any answers to my problem.  I hope that I am posting in the correct forum.  I have a Pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.4GHz, 3.39 GHz, 1.00GB of RAM which I got from Mesh Computers Plc about three years ago.  My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 2.  My monitor is a Sony SDM S94B analogue/digital flat screen.  For some time now I get bands of colour (mainly blue) flashing across the screen, and often the whole screen will flash a yellowish colour for a second before going back to a normal colour.  Occassionally hours can pass without the monitor doing anything, and then suddenly it can start flashing colours again.  Sony have checked my monitor and told me that there is nothing wrong with it - any suggestions as to what I could do to resolve the situation? Thanks very much.

Answer:Lines and flashes of colour across monitor display

Welcome to computer hope! The first thing I would do is try a different monitor to see if it does the same thing. If it doesn't then your monitor is bad. If it still does it with a new monitor it might be a bad video card. If you have a different monitor you can try, go ahead and swap and post back with the results. Hope it works!

I just took apart my T410s to change the screen hinges. I thought all had gone well but when I plug in an external monitor the colours don't display properly. The display is yellow and if you wiggle the cable it goes green. Could this have been something I did? It worked fine before.Any ideas how to fix it?ThanksAndy

Answer:VGA external monitor shows yellow and green colour

Hi, arp1981

I have a question for clarification: Does this only occur on an external monitor, not the laptop's display itself? If so, then I would retrace your steps of replacing the hinges and make sure that all wires and devices are where they should be. Also, check the pins on the VGA cord and the VGA port itself and make sure nothing is bent.

Best,
Adam

Following a recent crash we decided to reload Windows.
We seem to have lost our Toshiba drivers - can anybody please head me in the right direction?

Also the desktop colours have gone beserk - they resemble light shining through oily water.
They seem OK when programs are run so we don't think it's hardware.
The only driver for the monitor is shown as a generic M/Soft monitor.

If anybody has any advice it would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks!

If you need some assistance with Win7 installation let us know.

Hey there,

I've had this computer for about 1 and a half years after ordering it of PC specialist.
About 2 weeks ago after going to a LAN with my computer (i49 in the UK), my computer starting having a lot of graphical errors, where the screen would split so that the right side of my screen would appear on my left, and what normally would be the left edge of the screen would be somewhere in the middle of my monitor, and there would be a lot of static sometimes. If I move my mouse off the right edge of my monitor it would appear on the left on what should be the right of the screen. Or the screen would suddenly turn one colour, and I wouldnt be able to do anything apart from wait for the display to go back to something semi-normal or just restart my computer. I'm having trouble of getting a picture of this as when I take a screenshot, or stream my monitor display, it doesn't show any of the errors at all. (SEE IMGUR LINK AT THE BOTTOM)

My monitor display hops around between the problems above, I think when I start doing more intensive things, like playing games like Starcraft 2 and League of Legends, it increases the chance of the display crashing. The only solution I have found so far is to restart my computer (sometimes by just holding the power button if the screen is one colour and doesn't change back to a semi normal display after a bit).

On startup the screen is back to normal, but then it always starts happening again, sometimes after only 5 minutes of using m... Read more

What warranty did you take out with PCS? Their customer service is first rate and if you're still in warranty you're laughing.

For starters though I'd try uninstalling the GPU (remove all traces of drivers and software), remove it from the rig and check for any dust in the fan and heatsink area. If there is any present, clean it out with some short bursts of canned compressed air or a soft brush. Then reinstall it using the latest drivers and make sure you perform a clean install.

Just to rule anything else out, run on the iGPU while the 6850 is removed and see if the problem persists. Keep us posted.

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Dell 24" LCD monitor to connect externally to my laptop (Dell as well). My graphics card on my laptop supports the monitor resolution just fine (1920x1080), however, I find the colours slightly dull. I've installed the monitor's drivers and auto adjusted all settings, but they still appear flat. I'm running Windows Vista.

Is this normal? I assumed most monitors are plug and play and don't require any tweaking.

Thanks for any info!

Most high-end monitors (24"+) do usually require a bit of tweaking, as with most TVs nowadays. See if you can find any recommended settings for your monitor in Bing or Google.

Hi there gurus.
My pc doesn?t show certain colour objects in Publisher 2007 and some on-line sites. Overall, the screen colour is very good. I know the fault is localised, because when I switch to Print Preview in Publisher it looks fine and I can see all the object colours. (I only lose the colour with objects, not text)
Also, when I send a copy of a Publisher page to my partner who is on the same PC, it looks fine on her screen.
I?ve tried going to Install/uninstall programs and run the Repair, but to no avail. The guys in my computer shop are clueless without seeing it. Anyone who can help solve this for me is a gem.
Cheers!

What's cheaper: colour laser with genuine ink or colour inkjet with compatible inks?

I'm happy to invest in buying a colour laser: but I can't find any refills for lasers
At least they don't seem to be widely available

So, my choice is: colour laser + genuine inks or colour inkjet + compatible inks

From what I know, side by side: laser's are cheaper
But, how about when compared to genuine laser ink to compatible colour inkjet inks?

I should stress that for me needs, I am not overly concerned if using compatibles doesn't give me perfect results - just close as possible is fine for me

What's more important probably is speed of print at highest quality

ANY feedback would be great

Thanks

Answer:What's cheaper: colour laser with genuine ink or colour inkjet with ink compatibles?

Finding Compatible Remanufactured Color Toner cartridges can be dicey. While they may be available, the problem may end up being the company tht does the remanufaturing. It is also dependant upon the model printer you get. I have noticed that the savings on my Black Canon X-25 toner cartridge is only about $12 lower than the cost of a Factory original cartridge. There are sites that I would save up to $30 per cartridge, but part of this is eaten up by the shipping charges. For my toner cartridge, I am about 1/2 mile from the store that does nothing but ink and toner refill services, and their garauntee thier cartridges 100%. In 3 years I have only had to return one cartridge and it was an HP #17 Color cartridge.

Now per page printing cost on a laser is much cheaper than on an inkjet. Though the printer cost itself is usually much higher for a Laser. Personally I use the laser much more than than my Inkjet, but I do use the inkjet for all color printing. But then 95% of my printing is monochrome text.

I noticed that on resuming, the border colour is present until the 'Please wait' screen appears, after which these settings are lost.

Hello.

I seriously need help with my PC. I've reinstalled Windows XP and Service Pack 2, and I can't chnge the Screen resolution or the colour quality. It sucks. The resolution stays at 800x600, the lowest possible, and the colour quality stays at 8 bit. I think I have a ATI 128 MB DDR Radeon 9800 Pro. I dunno whether thats a driver or what. And I also don't know my graphics card, or whether that will help at all.

I would swear at this point but I'm too young.

Oh but I'll use this instead

Has anyone got any help for me that I can understand. I'm 14 but I still can understand most computer talk.

Anyway thanks very much for reading all this crap and please try not to point out all my spelling mistakes.

Heya, welcome to the forums

Okay, it has to do with your drivers. Go to ATI's website and find your driver.

Here's the link

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html

Please download and install both the Control Center as well as the Display driver. Then restart your computer and try to change the resolution.

Cheers!

Don't know much about computers.
My LCD monitor looks like the font and graphics are "bleeding colour" and "bleeding graphics" showing pixels? in some places on the screen, it seems to be in the same places regardless of what programme I am using. Is this a problem with the screen itself or is this a computer problem?

Answer:"Colour Bleeding" on LCD Monitor

It sounds to me as though if the trouble areas are always in the same place then it the monitor. If the area changed depending on the program id say it was the computer. So i say its your LCD thats the problem. Try using another monitor CRT or LCD and see if it still bleeds. If it does it may be your video card. If not its most likely your monitor. I hope this helped.

I have HP Desktop Tower Pavilion with windows 10, I had two HP S2031 monitors in dual mode, worked fine. One of them died, I got a good deal on a larger HP 27er monitor.  I hooked it up, they were both working fine ... it was using a default monitor
setting ... and then yesterday the computer downloaded some updates, and in doing so, it downloaded the driver for the HP 27er and installed.  The next thing that happens is the older HP S2031 starts to go dark ... like it is going into sleep mode, and
then it is totally black.  On reboot, it starts up with both monitors working, but within seconds of reboot the HP S2031 goes black again. The HP S2031's buttons do nothing, other than the power button, which turns it off and on, but that is it.
I have done all troubleshooting, I did not even have them set up to sleep, all settings are at NEVER.  In coming here, I have done all the fixes I can find for similar  that are posted for similar issues, the Windows Key + W... nothing.
The create new power plan ... nothing.  the device manger>display adapters>disable then enable ... nothing.  and lastly Start>Control Panel>System>Device Manager>display adapter>driver tap>update ... still nothing.  HOW
DO I GET THE HP S2031 MONITOR TO NOT BE IN SLEEP AND HAVE BLACK SCREEN.  I can not figure this out and am not finding any fix.

Hi I wanted to use my CRT TV as a second monitor and connected it to my Computer using an 'S' connector.I have an NVIDIA 5500 Card with TV Out. so I ran the Cable from this to my TV.I then Selected Clone mode to get the same picture on my Monitor and my TV the problem is while my Monitor works fine and displays in color my TV only displays in Black and White. So how do I get my TV to display in Color when connected to my Computer.Note: The TV works fine for normal TV reception its just that it won't display in Color when using it as an additional Monitor.

Answer:Dual Monitor Problem TV+Monitor (Clone mode) Monitor (OK) TV (No Color)

You will alway struggle with a cathode screen. You need to really have a T.V that has a VGA port. Which generally means spending money. My tv is a Sony Bravia with a VGA port and it works perfect but I had to spend the money to get it.

I have an HP laptop and I have been running it with dual monitors. I finally decided to upgrade to Windows 7 and after I installed it I noticed that the built in monitor of my laptop looked strange and when I opened the display settings to change the screen resolution and set the external monitor as a separate monitor rather than a mirror I noticed that only one monitor was detected and it was the external one (Generic non-pnp monitor on standard VGA graphics adapter) and the built in monitor does NOT show up at all.

I've tried the detection button, in hopes that the computer would read the built in monitor and I could fix the problem. This did not help. I tried unplugging/replugging the external monitor to no avail. I tried restarting without the external monitor plugged in and it STILL reads the built in monitor as if it is the external one. Is there anyway to fix this? I have not tried re-installing the OS, not yet anyways.

Any suggestions ?

Answer:Monitor Issues - Laptop Reading Built In Monitor as if it were my external monitor.

Only thing I can think of is to disconnnect the external monitor, uninstall any monitors listed and then reboot and hope the computer installs the correct drivers for the laptop monitor.
