Acer Aspire 6930G - Windows boot problem?

Question: Acer Aspire 6930G - Windows boot problem?

(sorry for the really long post but its kinda complicated)Okay to start with I bought the acer almost a year ago. Its still under guarantee but I would rather not have to take it in. So on friday I came home from School turned my Acer on (it was working perfectly the night before) and I got the blue screen of death. I tried everything, safe mode etc etc. I loaded up my windows 7 home premium CD and selected repair. It worked for perhaps a hour before telling me it failed to repair it. Next I decided to try and reinstall windows. i to the point where it asked for the Cd key. I typed it in just to be told it was invalid. Once I had done all that it no longer does the blue screen of death but it boots up the laptop you see the windows 7 logo then the screen went black and nothing could be seen APART from the cursor. This morning when I tried again now I just get a black screen then it restarts again. What is wrong? I can't figure it out at all!!!

Hi
My son has an Acer Aspire 6930g running on xp.
Upto a couple of weeks ago he was happily running his blu rays using cyberlink 10 powerdvd when he announce that they no longer played. No disc found. Normal Dvds continue to run ok.
I have tried uninstalling the programme and reinstalling but that didnt seem to work.
Before i conclude that maybe the blu ray sensor has gone is there anything else i could try (- yes i have also tried cleaning the sensor and blowing away any possible dust) Do get suspicious that it all happens as the promotions for powerdvd13 flood in each time we open powerdvd lol.
Any suggestions welcome    ty for your time

Answer:a Acer aspire 6930g and was running on windows xp

I would presume that if it work before and all the disc are still scratch free, then the read layer function of the drive is not working anymore.

Hi !
Problems with bsod in the last 2-3 days.
Anyone can help?thank you

Answer:bsod acer aspire 6930g

Looks pretty straightforward: your network adapter. I suggest removing the drivers in Device Manager, and installing a fresh copy.

If you can find an updated version on the computer manufacturer's site, use it.

Hi
Sometimes when i "wake" my computer from hibernation(I think thats what it is called in english) I get a bluescreen saying Driver_power_state_failure and I have to restart my computer. Is there a way to solve this?
I?m attaching the TSF_Vista_Support zip file which I have generated. It?s in Swedish but I hope you will understand.

Answer:Driver_Power_state_failure Acer Aspire 6930g

Your Xtreme N Gigabit Router doesn't have drivers installed (?I didn't even think that they needed drivers - and don't have one on mine?) Are you having any troubles with yours?

The BSOD's point to NETw5s32.sys - a component of your Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN adaptor. Please do the following:
- download the latest Win7 driver for your Intel wireless device from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx
- uninstall the current wireless drivers from your system using Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- wait for another BSOD

Also, Please update or remove these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager. Please use the following instructions to locate the most current drivers:

Quote:

How To Find Updated Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- some driver links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Hi, (first post in any forum so far)

I got this notebook (Acer Aspire 6930G - the version with the dvd-drive) for around 7 years now and I am happy that I chose to buy it.
For about a year ago it started shutting down, when putting it under some workingload (games). I found out pretty quickly that the reason was due to heat. So I simply opened it (since the warranty already expired) and cleaned it up and the problem was solved.
A few weeks later however the problem started again. To my surprise however it seemed to shut down without any reason. The only connection I was able to detect was the fact that it only happens while playing games.
But I did not care about my laptop anymore, because I saved up enouth money to build myself a desktop.
Long story short. I need it again to play some games
The Laptops hardware is pretty much the same. I only added a SSD in the second HDD-slot and installed Windows 10 on it.
Now what I actually want to ask:
I am pretty sure, that this problem is caused by my nVidia Geforce 9600m GT.
These are the points that make me think of this:
- the PC does not really "shut down" more like freeze with a blackscreen on (and the only way to exit that state is to hold down the power-button :x)
- while doing so the sound (ingame music etc.) does not stop
- also all LED still work

Hi folks!

I had an error reading "Notification tool for Realtek Audio Chip has stopped working". I looked on Google for this error and Yahoo Answers came up with this: Acer. Notification tool for RealTek audio chip has stopped working. After nvidia driver update help? - Yahoo! UK & Ireland Answers

Jeezers replies with "device manager > sound video, game controller > uninstall realtek > restart your comp and let windows reload the drivers"

I followed these instructions, but it appears to have killed my stereo mix function. Does anyone know how I could get it back please? I have hunted for it all through my system but just can't find it anymore! I also have all devices shown, hidden and unused ones alike.

Many thanks!

Hi guys! My 6930g wont boot, its giving me a black screen saying

For Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCIE Ethernet Controller v1.0.0.12(2008/07/26)

check cable connection!
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.

And sometimes "operating system not found" come's up under it.

I've pulled out the HD and put it back in and still the same. I've tried running the recovery disk I made but it doesn't tell me it's just going to restore the C: drive (it's just blank) and I don't want to lose the data on my other partition. I run system restore through F11 and it booted once but now wont let me run it again. I have done a search on here and can't find anything.

I'm running Vista.

Any help please??

Cheers guys!!!

Answer:acer 6930g wont boot

The PXE message just means that it does not see a cd in the tray and does not see an operating system on the HD so it is trying to boot from the last option a network (which you are not on).

You are able to boot to CD so the problem is with the HD.

Try rebooting and hitting F12 during the acer logo screen--do you get a boot Order Menu? If so see if the HD is listed and choose its number to try to boot. Do you get the no OS error?

I just bought my Acer a couple of weeks ago and I have a question. Because I bought it after July I will receive a free copy of windows 7 when it releases. My question is, I want to do a clean install on windows 7 64 bit home premium. I have never loaded a new operating system before (I have only used the recovery disks) so I have a couple questions. My first question is when I install the clean install do I have to download and install the current drivers I am using on my computer? Video card, sound card, ect, or will windows automatically recognize my current hardware? If I do have to find them myself where can I find them? Will they be on the recovery disk Acer gave me? If that?s the case how can I only load the drivers and not windows vista? I am sure I can get them from Acers website but I am looking for the easiest way. Would ?windows update? find them for me?

Also my last question is there are a couple of applications that were previously loaded on the computer when I first started it up. The 2 main ones are Microsoft student office 2007 and Acers ?empower? program (Erecovery, Eaudio, ect.) I use both of these programs and I don?t want to lose them. Also because office came preinstalled I don?t have a physical disk. Any help would be appreated. Thank you for your time

Answer:Clean Install Of Windows 7 on Acer 6930G Questions

You can get all of the newest drivers from Acer's website. Acer Service & Support

It appears that the have the empower program available there as well. If you purchases MS Office Student they should have given you a disk or at least a product code for it. You should be able to contact Acer and get a physical copy if you cannot find it on their website.

My computer screen froze over a week ago and I haven't been able to boot up ever since. I've tried every other type of booting available with various results, but always hangs somewhere. I have no recovery disk. Running Windows Vista Home Premium.

Answer:Acer Aspire M5641 Boot Problem

I do hate to say this, but Windows Vista was a mistake in itself.. it's the most unstable operating system to date released from Microsoft. What I would do is purchase Windows 7 and upgrade to that operating system. If there are files on your hard drive you want to keep, you can do a process called "slaving", which means you can take your hard drive out and have a friend who has a spare SATA port transfer your files for you. I know this doesn't exactly answer your question.. but if you try several options on boot-up and it still hangs, then your OS is done, there's no sense in trying to repair it. Check out newegg.com, they have OEM versions of Windows 7 for $120.

Hi there
I've got a problem with an Acer Aspire laptop that refuses to automatically boot to any device. When powering on, it shows the BIOS screen and gives options to go into setup or choose a boot device, and then hangs on the blank black screen with flashing white cursor and constantly short beeps until I power it off.
If I choose to choose my boot device manually (HDD or CD) it works without issue.
Any ideas? I've updated the BIOS to the latest version and checked RAM and hard drive connections.

Answer:Acer Aspire 5733 boot problem

It doesn't matter which way round the boot order is set, if I don't press F12 and select my boot device from a list, it stops at the black screen and beeps forever.

Hi all,  I am currently having problems booting up my Acer Aspire 5742, with i5 processor, running windows 7, with BIOS version 1.16 (from 16/02/2011). The problem is this: when I turn my laptop on, after the Acer logo boot screen appears and disappears, the laptop does not successfully boot up - a cursor key remains at the top left of the screen and after a few minutes the laptop turns off. When I try to boot up the computer again, the same thing happens. From my brief review online this seems to be a very common issue. Can anyone tell me if they have discovered/created a solution to this problem? I would greatly appreciate any and all help. I have discovered a post from 2014 on this forum that suggests using a partition manager to delete a 100mb partition (titled: System Reserved 100mb NTFS) - see full post here. Others replied and suggest this helped solve the problem for them. Can anyone tell me what are the risks/consequences of deleting said partition? And if this solution has worked for them? It seems to have worked for others but I am not eager to alter my machine without knowing how exactly it will be altered. I thank you all for your time and comments. Please ask if there are any further details that you would find useful in this regard

Answer:acer aspire 5742 boot problem

the solution seems good but it refers to re-install using  ALT+F10 and installation hangs on office.

Hi there, I bought an Acer Aspire e1-571g (i5-3210M 2.5GHz, GT 620m 1gb, 4gb ddr3, 500gb hdd) in 2013 and I haven't any problems with it until now.The laptop starts with a lag, ~30s up to 1m to boot bios and show me manufacturer name. If I restart it or shutdown and power on, it doesn't start at all, coolers work, everything work but I have no image on screen ( he cannot boot bios or something). If I let it about 1 hour to "cool down", it starts with that lag. I tried to replace RAM, HDD, nothing.I had windows 7 x64 but now I formatted all and got windows 8.1 pro. What's the problem? I really tried everything.

Answer:ACER Aspire E1-571g Boot up problem.

If you game a lot and it has ran hot a lot, you could be experiencing problems from long term heat damage. If this is the case, you may want to replace the thermal paste on the CPU/Gpu.Try removing one of the memory modules and boot, then the other.Try unplugging the power and battery, hold power button down for 30 aeconds, plug in power and try it.Try to borrow another power supply or take it to a local comp shop and ask them to try their universal.Open a command prompt as ADMINISTRATOR and run"sfc /scannow".

As already experienced by others I have the dreaded boot up problem, but at the moment it is intermittent, but getting worse. Turning on the post screen you can see that it hangs up either before the memory check or during the memory check. If it gets as far as the IDE part then it will boot up. I've tried taking the RAM out, swapping it around, disconnecting things all to no avail. When it boots up then it runs fine, so it doesn't appear to me to be a PSU problem. Since the problem is intermittent I can't think that it is a corrupted BIOS, else it would never work. So any ideas which component is likely to be breaking down to cause this problem? Does it mean a new mobo?

Answer:The Acer Aspire T180 boot up problem again

Have you tried booting with the last known good configuration? Press F8 at start-up and this will open the startup menu, from this menu choose, last known good configuration. If this doesn't help then from the same menu bott into safe mode and try a system restore to a time before things went haywire.

I have an Acer Aspire 7520-5071, Model# ICY 70, that has a major boot problem. Symptoms include:

*Started to shut down after 3 to 4 minutes of operation

*the re-start process progressively got longer

*now it attempts to start up but turns back off around 2 to 3 seconds into it

*during the failed start ups the DVD tries to spin as if trying to boot off of it

*the start process keeps cycling until I remove the battery and outside power
source.

* I have tried to bott by battery alone and with AC power alone, same
outcome

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated but I'm thinking mother board

Answer:Acer Aspire 7520 Boot problem

This laptop is from 2008. Ever clean it out? I'm thinking a heat problem.
Also if it tries to boot from the optical drive, have you gone into the BIOS and checked if the hd is the first boot device? If not, that would explain why it tries to boot from the drive. If the hd is listed first and it doesn't want to boot from it, it could mean your hd is gone and it looks for the next boot device in the list.

Hello,

I have changed my graphic card from ATI HD4650 DDR2 to NVIDIA FX 770M DDR3. The OS started to give video_tdr_failure so I decided to do a fresh install. Eve after fresh install i still get the error randomly, may it be when I start firefox, or close mediaplay classic etc. I run benchmark tests ,memory test but I could not find anything. My temps are good, when I game it is around 80C-degree. The thing is the driver I install is from laptopvideo2go with modified inf since the original drivers from nvidia can not detect the card. Used latest driver version. Changed the firmware of the to latest one which was no help at all for this case. Any help would be appriciated, I may return the card if it is not driver related and the card is actually at the end of its life.

My system is:
CPU: X9100 C0 Stepping @ 3.06GHz 1.125V
VGA: NVidia FX 770M 512MB DDR3
RAM: 2x2 DDR2 800MHz 5-5-5

I just bought an Acer Aspire 7520 (exhibition piece, used - like new) and received it in the post yesterday morning. After a whole day of running fine, I used a friend's T-Mobile Web'n'Walk usb dongle later in the day and about halfway through install the system froze (except for cursor motion, I couldn't click on anything). I forced a restart, and after the initial boot screen it was left on an almost completely black screen with a white blinking underscore in the top left corner, even left for a while this didn't change.

I've tried restoring default settings in the f2 Boot Menu, leaving the system shut down over night, but nothing else so far as I don't want to damage it further.

Please help!

Answer:Acer Aspire 7520, sudden boot problem

The hard drive data may be corrupted, or the hard drive may just be bad. Pull out the hard drive and see if you get a display of the initial post

I have ran into a problem with my Acer Aspire 7520g. I started the laptop as usual and it started no problem. I then left the room and when i returned the laptop was switched off. When i now try to boot it up it goes into a cycle of spinning up the hard-drive, switching on the power light button and then switching them bith off and then retrying again. The only way to stop the process is to remove the battery. I am unable to access the bios as this all happens within 4 seconds and it goes back into its cycle of trying to reboot. I have removed the hard-drive and replaced with a new one, checked the ram and slots by moving the ram sticks around but i am now at a loss as to what it could be. The laptop does this on both battery power and mains electricity, the battery is getting charged up no problem. Has anyone ran into this problem before and found a solution. Is it in need of a new motherboard. The laptop is just over a year old and just out of warranty. It runs Windows XP Pro, has both ram slots filled, had very little DVD-drive use. I read about a solution about the CMOS Battery but in this model the buttery is embody with 2 pins down & and up-side of the battery and cannot remove it. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks...

Answer:Acer Aspire 7520g Repeat Boot Problem

Rather than cleaning our Aunt's laptop (full of junk) handed down to our son for BIG school, I did an alt+F10 Restore to Factory settings and started again. Windows Vista and Acer had to do its thing while it reset... I have connected to the router and I have wifi confirmed as connected... Windows updated and the homepage (Www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/home) even has the new Acer 'Switch' advertised and the dragon (some new game).... But the top isn't loaded right, it has 'errors on page' and other websites don't load at all.   TCP and DNS are ticked for 'automatic' too - spotted this on online forums so checked that. Any ideas how there's wifi but without a working Internet connection?! help much appreciated!

Answer:Aspire 6930G wifi enabled... but no internet?!

I'm guessing the Internet Explorer included with Vista is down revved enough that many web site won't work right with it. I did a from scratch install of Windows 7 (prior to sp1) on a customers laptop this weekend and found that the IE 8 included wouldn't work right on a lot of common sites. I upgraded it to IE 11 and all was right with the world again. [Well after several hundred updates that is.]

I'm having the same problem with my aspire laptop 3680-2633.
Original OS is Vista home basic.

Out of warranty, have the reboot discs, have re installed once before....
this is the first time i got this blank screen when booting with the control alt delete issue. same problem as above...

the only thing that works is the f2 button, no other buttons work. so i had to override the booting sequence to get the cd to run the recovery disc.

Ran the discs, and still blank screen with nothing on it. after about 40 minutes, i forgot i left it on, it said some files are corrupt. I'm in the process of re installing with my boot cd's again.

Could the hard drive be damaged?

Help mee!! I have 2 problems...
I've just rebuilt an Acer Aspire 5100 with X1300 graphics and SATA hdd.
I've updated to the latest BIOS v3.13, reinstalled Windows XP Media Center edition and have all the drivers except for one "Unknown device" which may be the modem - the modem socket is cracked so would this explain why the device is "not found" by any driver software?

The second problem is XP stalls during boot-up after the Windows XP logo screen - it goes to a black screen and then hangs. I can only get XP booting to proceed by inserting an USB drive and then taking it out again! It's as though the laptop is waiting to test the USB ports before it can continue. Is this a software problem or a drive configuration problem - SATA HDD shows as "PM" (-?primary master) and the IDE DVD-RW drive as "SM" (-secondary master) on the configuration screen in BIOS, but as "S1" and "PM" on the Boot Order List in the BIOS. I just need this to boot reliably without having to stick in and take out a flash drive!!

Answer:XP Media Center Boot problem on Acer Aspire 5100

I have found the problem is the ENE card reader driver. If I don't install this, then Windows boots as normal. Uninstalling the drivers is not straightforward either - I'm having to do a System Restore each time to get things working....

Any ideas?

Hi - Need help with my Aspire 6930G - From working fine, no problems it will no longer boot at all.The machine powers on, HD light flashes for approx 15 sec's then nothing - black screen, have tried hooking it up to an external monitor to see it's related to the video output - same black screen. Have read on here that this is a common problem - solved by flashing the correct BIOS file. I have d/l the correct BIOS zip file from the site - this contains a Windows exe file and a DOS exe file - but no others - eg The .fd file which I've read in tutorials/YouTube needs to be present and renamed in order to flash. The other problems I can't quite get my head round are1) How to get the machine to boot from a flash drive - When I can't access the BIOS  to point it to the USB drive, instead of the drive with the OS on?2) Don't I need a flash program to actually install the new BIOS? Big Thanks for any helpful replies!

Hi all , hopefully someone can help with his issue. Ive been hunting the forum for a few hours now and cant find anything on this issue, I have found some that are sort of similar but mostly its in windows 7. nothing really concerning windows 8 that really helps with my issue.
ok my daughter has an acer aspire E1-531 with windows 8. the original hdd died and I replaced it with a new one (1terrabyte) I loaded in a brand new copy of windows 8.1 as well. it loaded up fine , all drivers in and working great. It worked from july 4th to sept 26/14., I dont know what happened, she was playing a game online and it beeped and went black. I havent been able to boot it up since. all I have for info is the info from the bios which I will include at the end.
when its in [UEFI] it wont reccognize the new hard drive at all and just hangs at the acer logo screen then goes black after a bit.and it wont boot at all from the cd/dvd installation disc, it wont bring up any repair console or anything, if I switch it to legacy mode it sees the new hdd and asks for the install disc but it just hangs at the start of the install and then just goes to black sceen. Same thing when I change the boot order to CD Rom First. Ive also tried reseating the harddrive as well. No Change. I just dont know what else to do.
Here is the Bios info from each mode there are differences, I will go from each mode and each tab. Thanks for your help

Hi there, my Acer Aspire 5560G won't boot me into Windows, it would just stay stuck on the black screen with the windows logo, saying ''Starting Windows''. I even took it into a repair shop and they tried to install a new HDD and reboot the laptop with a new windows 7 CD, but they told me it had problems shutting down and properly loading up,in the end they could not fix it and put back my old HDD into my laptop and I have got it back from them. Any ideas what I should do?

Answer:Acer Aspire 5560G won't boot into Windows 7

Not a lot of hope then if the repair shop can't fix it with a new hard drive.

remove battery and mains connection - press and hold power button for 30 seconds - reconnect mains and retry to boot.
enter setup (BIOS) and make sure first boot device is the DVD drive and second the HDD. - check hard drives not set to "raid" and see if you can set to "AHCI" - save and exit (F10) - retry to boot.

Hi everyone, I'm having a terrible problem with my Acer and I hope that someone can help me.

Since I bought the laptop a few months ago I noticed that it was freezing or moving very slowly and had to be restarted. I just lumped this up to it being used or just a slow computer. However, a month ago it froze and I had to turn it off and now it will not boot. It does not move past the black screen. I can't access the boot menu or safe mode or anything. No text appears on the screen at all. The power light comes on and I hear the hard drive spin and the fan spins but that's it.

I read some tips online and was told that the Bios probably needed to be flashed and while I tried everything (using the USB bios flash method) nothing worked. I had hoped that I could just reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop and created a bootable Windows 7 USB flash but when I plug it into the laptop and turn it on, nothing happens. I'm assuming it's because I need to access the boot menu to set it to boot from the flash drive, but obviously I can't do this.

My question is this, is there any way that I can reinstall/repair Windows 7 in this current situation. I have an external hard drive connection and can access the files on the hard drive from my Acer by connecting it to my other laptop (that I've bought as a replacement) so I was wondering if I could repair it that way. I know that I can't install Windows 7 on an external hard drive (grrr!) but maybe I could repair it this way.

Also, if that... Read more

I installed the latest version of linux mint using USB, and chose 'install along side windows' option. While restarting after installation, the boot loader is automatically loading windows 10, without giving any choice. I can see linux is installed by observing the disk space. Then how to make my PC boot it, or allow a choice ? Looks like this problem is not yet resolved on ACER laptops, as I don't see a straight forward solution across blogs/communities trying to address this problem. I have upgraded to BIOS v 1.37

can be a SSD/HDD issue, since scanning/repairing fails. the only thing i would try is a complete HDD/SSD wipe and OS re-install, if wipe fails, it's HDD/SSD issue. if you have a bootable installation media, boot from it, then at language selection press Shift+F10 to open command promptonce in command prompt typediskpartthen on diskpart typelist disktake note of the correct disk ID to erasetypeselect disk x(x is the ID of your HDD to erase)typeclean alltype exit it will take some hours to complete. if you don't have an installation media, you can create one for free from Microsoft server (windows 10):https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I am using Windows 8.1. I have an Acer Aspire V5-571P computer with Windows 8.1 pre-installed. I want to install my licensed copy of Windows 7 Professional on it as a dual boot to dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. I have seen that it can be done, but I cannot figure out how to correctly do it. I have already had to re-install Windows 8.1 once from a USB Recovery drive which was not fun. So can someone help me out with this? I'd really like to learn how to do it and get it done. I love windows 7 Pro but I can't figure out how to do it.

I have already turned off secure boot in bios. However, UEFI mode is still active vs legacy bios which is the other mode I have.

Answer:Dual Boot Acer Aspire V5 with Windows 8.1 Pre-installed

You will need both Windows 7 x64 & Windows 8/8.1 installed in Legacy mode.

On some Acer, Gateway, P. Bell, Windows 7 x64 will not install in UEFI mode.

My Acer Aspire 5612z, Dual-core celeron, 2GB ram, vista home premium 32bit, has two separate problems. Screen is filled with vertical red blue and white vertical stripes, if I tap the screen frame then the picture is ok for 30 mins or so, then goes stripey again. (Poss fault on FL board?).
Second, Laptop boots, 20 seconds, to Acer screen then stops.
Can only switch off power from that point.

Answer:Acer Aspire screen problem and only boot to Acer screen

Tapping the screen you could have a loose connection from the LCD Panel to the MOBO connector, but you see if you did the screen would dim out. In your case you have the the same issues that tell me that the LCD Panel is faulty. If this unit is still under warranty then have ACER service the unit or take it to ACER dealer who can either send it back to ACER or they can order the panel and replace it for you at no cost, but then it has to be under warranty. If not you'll have to pay the cost of ordering the part, labor to install it. Find out cost prior to signing any agreement.

On your other issue, did you replace or upgrade the battery or memory? If not then remove the battery and plugin the power only. Try this again does it boot the ACER logo and Windows. Can you put your ear down to the keys or palm rest and hear the HDD spinning up?
If not either the HDD is DOA or faulty power module on the MOBO or just bad MOBO. Again same as above if it's under warranty call or take it to ACER factory service dealer.

Make sure if you had a good battery on this laptop that all switches are switched to the lock mode for the battery.

My daughter's Acer is 2.5 years old and it's running Windows 7.  She recently rebooted it last week for a Windows Update and since then it starts up but hangs, with the hard drive light blinking slowly.  I ran it in Safe Mode and it gets through CLASSPNP.SYS then hangs.  According to articles this is usually a hardware problem.  The only option I have with this OS is to bring up the Command Prompt.  I've tried System File Checker - no go.  System Repair comes back with unknown error and what looks like a bad Driver. I was able to build a new partition (100+GB) and do a clean install of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate w/ SP1.  This went through fine, though I would have to load the Acer drivers for the network card, etc. to finalize it.  The point here is that this shows that the hard drive isn't the issue. My fear is that Windows installed either some sort of driver or other update that has now caused the current OS on her laptop to be unusable.  I went to do a System Restore and the only restore point it had was the Critical Update that she rebooted to on 2/13.  Trying to roll back to that Restore Point didn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions?  Has anyone else experienced this post-Windows update apocalypse?

Hello,

I am working on an Acer laptop that boots normally except for the screen going blank after the windows loading logo in Windows 7. It does the same when booting to a Windows install disc. It gets past the initial screen when copying files and then goes blank. When connected to a second monitor, the monitor shows "video out of range". I tried booting to safe mode and vga mode with no luck on both monitors. The system loads into windows desktop as I can hear the Windows sounds and I can power down using the start menu blindly. The display works fine in the system BIOS and during the initial boot from disc or hard drive. I am thinking the internal video card is bad but want to explore other options before giving up.

So far I have:
Tested all hardware
Reset BIOS to defaults
Booted to VGA mode and safe mode
Tried Last Known Good Configuration
Cloned a drive from another machine with a good OS
Tried both the original Windows Vista OS and a new copy of Windows 7 from both CD and hard drive

Please help me get this stubborn laptop to output video normally!

I restarted my computer like normal and for whatever reason the computer is now stuck at the Acer boot screen. I try to press DEL to enter Setup and I even tried pressing F12 to go into the Boot Setup, but for whatever reason the computer does not respond to anything.

To shut it off I have to hold down the power button and eventually it shuts off.

Stuff to know:
- I have a wireless mouse and keyboard being used on that desktop.. Should I perhaps try to plug in a corded mouse and keyboard?
- I'm running on Windows 7 Ultimate.
Thanks

Hey,, maybe someone can help me.  The other day I installed HP drivers for an officejet and the next day my computer will not boot past the Acer logo.  I'm not sure if installing the drivers caused the issue but it was the last thing that I stilled.  However,  after searching (iphone) for ways to fix this I have managed to get to the recovery screens.  I've tryed a few things like, go to adv setting and reset the computer but it fails.  The last thing that I've done was to boot in safe mode, I'll see when I get home where I stand with that.  It takes so long to go thru these menus I don't have the time to set there and wait before going to work.. Can you suggest options for me to try?  Let me know if I can provide specific information, just let me know.. Acer E5-521-23KH-US ThanksSoot

Answer:Acer Aspire E5 will not boot past Acer logo

cootgood,

If you can get the notebook into safe mode you should be able to perform a system restore to before you installed those files and see if that works. If not, you can try the refresh option to try and fix operating system files or restore option to reset the system to factory defaults. If you try all these items and they all fail it could be a hardware problem, such as a hard drive.

I have tried everything I can think of, I have already read through a few other threads with the same issue but none of the fixes work for me.It gets to the acer screen loads that little loading circle then it just goes black... I have tried pushing Alt+F 10 and it got to the acer screen and said "please wait" then the screen went black again. I have installed Windows 8 on a USB drive and have went into the bios and enabled the boot menu as well as change the order of the boot to the USB. This got me a bit closer but still stuck. After about 10 minutes it finally went to a purple screen and a window popped up asking to install. I selected my language and clicked install, it went to another screen that says "setup is starting" and it's been sitting this way for about 20 minutes now. I'm out of ideas. Don't have a clue why this is going on. This is a friend of mines computer, he said he was in the middle of playing a game and the laptop froze then something came up and then it shut off. When it booted up it wouldn't load past the acer screen.

Answer:Acer Aspire E15 will not boot past Acer logo

Try booting to Memtest86 you can burn a CD and I think it can also be run from a USB bootable flash drive. This will test your memory for problems and also let you know that the hardware in general will run (except the hard drive which is ignored at this stage. If the memory is good, then boot to your hard drive mfg's utility or Seatools from Seagate (DOS version) the same as Memtest but it tests your hard drive to see if it is just the drive that you cannot install on.If the memory and hard drive tests OK then you may just need to delete all current partitions on the hard drive before trying to install. If the memory does not test good, try cleaning the contacts on the memory with a soft pencil eraser and snapping them in and out 5 or 6 times to also burnish the slot's contacts. Then try memtest again on one stick at a time in case one stick is bad, swap and try again. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hi!

I'm trying (and failing hard) to hook up a Homegroup network between a stationary PC, a D-Link DIR-825 router, and an Acer Aspire 6920G notebook. Both PCs run Windows 7 Ultimate. My homebuilt desktop PC gets or generates an IPv6 adress just fine, as does the router, but the notebook refuses categorically, whether via 802.11g, 802.11n, or cable hookup to the router, though IPv4 works perfectly.

I've checked the IPv6 protocol settings for both machines, and they're identical. The built-in nic on the notebook seems like it should be IPv6 compatible given that there are fields under Advanced Options in the hardware properties relating to IPv6, and according to other logs posted here that turned up while googling the 802.11 transciever, it too is IPv6 compatible.

I've tried the obvious (new drivers, no firewall, etc), but I still can't get it working. Is there anything else I should try before wiping the laptop clean and reinstalling it?

Hi there, I saw similar threads, but, its little confusing... My problem is following: I have Acer Aspire e3-111 26UJ. I installed Windows 8.1, firstly in legacy mode, and all components worked. Touchpad worked without drivers, started from low level hardware when I pressed FN+F7. I changed my mind, and deleted everything, installed Windows 8.1, from UEFI mode. Even from installation starts, touchpad wont work. Now, its not working too. With or without drivers. If I press 2 3 times fn f7, keyboard not responding anymore, and windows restarts with message that my computer went to trouble... Does anyone solved this horor?

Answer:Touchpad problem with windows 8.1 Acer Aspire e3-1...

You have to install the drivers in the correct order. I read it here somewhere in a thread about the V5 or E5 or V3 touchpad, I think.1. Chipset drivers2. I/O drivers3. Synaptics touchpad drivers I think that's correct, but have a search for the thread that mentions those drivers.

For the past few weeks my computer has been prone to randomly freezing while websites are open and i get the "not responding" message at the top of every website and cannot do anything or click anywhere until i hold down the off button and force the machine to turn off and on again, and even then it doesn't always work fine when it's back on.

As of yesterday when i log in the laptop seems to think that the left click button has been pressed and when i move the mouse around it highlights folders on my desktop. When i press the left click it brings up what the right click button should do, whereas the right click button does nothing. Whenever i click on icons on the desktop nothing happens and i can't access any programs (start menu, firefox, etc) until i press ctrl + alt + delete and open the task manager. As soon as task manager is opened (and i can see that it is not doing any processes) i can use my left click and go on firefox/start menu etc. However the right click still does nothing.

I've got AVG, Malware Bytes and CCleaner, have run several cleanups and defragmenters. Nothing has brought up any problems or viruses etc. I'm just really starting to run out of ideas of what i can do to sort this out. I'd rather not have to back everything up and perform a factory reset!

If anyone can shed some light onto this problem i'd really appreciate it!

Have you tried a different mouse?

Hey All.
Im having some major problems with a usb stick and my acer aspire.

I have a Acer Aspire one netbook, and a unbranded 2gb robot usb memory stick. i cant seem to find a problem but thier must be one, as anytime i try to access my memory stick, nothing appears, the LEDS just flash.

Now as far as i know, things start to get odd
Ipod connects to netbook fine, can view content and access space reserved for disk use.
Ps3 controller connects fine, and charges. (not sue if that helps at all)
Dads memory stick connects and its files can be read fine.
My memory stick can connect to dads Toshiba laptop, and to school pc's fine.

i cant see where there can be a problem so im desperate for help right now, so please. any suggestions welcome, and thanks in advance.

I have acer aspire V5-573G, I tried to install Windows 10 on my machine using USB key. I have booted to USB key, formatted hard drive and tired to install it, but it gave me error "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Howdy,
I have a problem with an Acer Aspire E17 (ES1-711G-P2VR).
I installed very hard Windows 10 and now if I open a video on youtube, locks occasionally and I feel like I do not work properly.
I installed drivers on their website.
Note that the laptop came with linux. After many attempts by formatting the hard disk MBR (or other option, i dont remember exactley) has been installed wind 10.
Does not support wind 10? or to be the problem?
I can not figure why not functioning normally.
Any help is welcome, I had eaten about 2 nights install / uninstall wind ... install / uninstall drivers, etc ...
Thank you ! A good evening !

Answer:Acer Aspire E17 (ES1-711G-P2VR) windows 10 problem !!!

Having the same issue with the same model of laptop.

Managed to install Windows 10 after i disabled from bios Advanced Touchpad. But once windows started it freezes or just shuts down without any warning/error.

First time i got this was after i installed the Audio Driver from acer and i thought that was the problem but after a new install with the default driver that win 10 installs i still have the same issues with it. Really got no clue what else i can do. I checked Device Manager everything seems to be fine in there, doesn't show any errors or anything.

TL.DR. Windows shuts down with no warning or freezes randomly. I can try to install a program now and it crashes, next time i try to install the same program it can work.

Hi everyone. Since I upgraded my laptop from windows 8.1 to windows 10 I've been having shutdown problemsEvery time I want to shutdown or even restart it, screen freezes and laptop keep working: fan is moving, and some leds keep turn on. If I want to turn off my laptop, I have to keep press i/o button for 3 seconds. After windows upgrade I realized that touchpad was dead. Looking into forums I found out that solution was toupdate bios and select basic option instead advanced. I installed 1.16 bios version available in acer website:https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/5397;-;Aspire%20E5-411After bios update, touchpad became operative but I got other problems. I googled looking for a solution for shutdownproblem. Common solution to that issue indicates that you must downgrade intel management engine interface from 11 or10 version to 9 version. When I tried that, wizard installer said my system is not compatible with it so I discardedthat solution. Then I thought that updating all drivers from acer support website could be a solution. I started updatingaudio driver but a few seconds installing started screen freezed. I tried installing other drivers, but screen freezedall times. Finally I concluded that all my problems are due bios update. Can someone guide me how to downgrade bios please.

So I have been tasked to set up a computer for relatives on a brand new Acer Aspire axc-603g desktop computer. One of the things is downgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 7. I have a windows 7 install disc and have tried booting from the disc to install from there. It gets from the "loading files" bar to the "starting windows" when a blue screen pops up saying
"Error: 0x000000A5 Bios is not fully ACPI compliant". This stops any kind of installation to happen.

Things to note:
1) I have disabled secured boot
2) Bios has been set to the legacy setting.

I have reason to believe this error has something to do with UEFI but I am not certain. Any help would be amazing!!

I just went out a 2 days ago and bought an Acer Aspire XC-603G-UW31 for my mother, who was in desperate need of a new computer, and barely understands "Windows 7" after 4 years of use, let alone "Windows 8.1". So, I decided to get it and downgrade the OS for her. After getting it home and setting it up, I updated to the newest version of the BIOS. I downloaded a copy of all the important drivers from the Acer website, and I got out my Windows 7 disks. I tried the setup from the desktop first, and it worked fine until it restarted the computer... Because after I got past the "Loading Windows Files" screen, and on to the "Starting Windows", 2 of the 4 dots appeared on the screen and it froze and gave me a red bar across the top... So I went into the BIOS and was sure that secure boot was off, and spent almost an hour searching for my "Launch CSM" option, only to come to the conclusion that it doesn't exist... So, I tried the installation 2 more times, one with a fresh boot, and the other from the desktop, both ending it that frozen splash screen... So, I contacted Acer, and after climbing the ladder of tech support and supervisors, they have given me the awesome advise along the lines of of, "We have no clue why your computer doesn't have the same BIOS options that every other Acer Aspire XC-603G-UW31 has.". I've searched almost every forum related to this issue and all I have managed to find is one other person that g... Read more

I am very disappointed in Acer. Very bad attitude to their customers. Here is my story:I bought my laptop Acer aspire e5-573g two weeks ago. I installed windows 10 and after first restarting I got a black screen ... No logo Acer, no cursor (mouse) and I cannot access the settings. It?s just a brick now. And this is not only my problem. When I googled this problem I realized that a lot of people have the same troubles (black screen). Acer support doesn?t help and doesn?t assist.Older Acer models - bios can be restored with the aid of usb flash and firmware file. But for this model "smart" Acer?s engineers created bios which cannot be restored that way.I don?t have any service centers for Acer in my area. Nearest is 500 km far away. I have to go there by myself to resolve this problem. Ok! What if I come back and the problem will happen again? I have to go back over 500 km? It?s wasting of my time and money!!! I'll never buy any Acer product and will do anything that I can to share Acer service and quality. Shame to you, Acer!

valbogov,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your notebook, I would like to see if I can get a better understanding of the whole situation and see if some things might resolve the problem. I realize that the nearest Acer center to you is a long ways away, so I want to avoid that option if possible.

When you say you installed Windows 10, are you talking about going through the upgrade process or just trying a clean install outright? If you tried a clean install outright without going through the upgrade process it will have issues. In order to do a clean install of Windows 10 you have to follow these steps for everything to work right.

I know that you said there is no logo screen, but are you able to get into the BIOS at all, or is that what you meant by you cannot access the settings? I do not see in your post where you talked about updating the BIOS, I am not sure why you would need to recover the BIOS.

Hi, I have an Acer Aspire V 15, model number V3-572G-5435 with 64 bit Windows 8.1. I am attempting to boot from a USB and am not able to do so. I've enabled the F12 boot menu from the BIOS and whenever I enter it, Windows Boot Manager is the only thing that is showing. I've also tried disabling secure boot, and in all of the USB ports. I also cannot use Legacy mode as whenever I enable it, I can't boot into Window, therefore it has to be with UEFI. I have even tried changing the boot order in the BIOS to have USB FDD and USB HDD at the top but it always goes straight into Windows.

Answer:Can't boot from USB - Acer Aspire V 15

if you want to boot from USB using UEFI, you need to create a compatible UEFI media, disable secure boot for more compatibility. i suggest you to use Rufus to create an USB bootable media:http://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale=en_US just choose the correct option on the first drop down menu (UEFI only), format FAT32 and then browse to your iso to burn on the USB flash memory. if the bootable iso is not compatible under UEFI (like some multi recovery or multi tools iso like hiren's boot cd) you need to switch to Legacy, do what you need and then revert back to UEFI on BIOS.

My laptop came with Windows 10. and performance and battery life was not ideal for me, so I decided to install Ubuntu 16.04 (keeping WIndows 10 with dual boot). I flashed Ubuntu. but I forgot to fix the Windows Boot Manager settings, so I could not select an OS at boot. After that I booted from USB again and selected "try Ubuntu before installing", and everything was fine. Then I set the laptop to sleep (I had to do something) using FN+F4 and everything was normal, after returning to the laptop about 4 hours later, it didnt wake up. I tried holding the power button for 10 seconds, 5 seconds and 2 seconds, single tap and some other keyboard combinations. Nothing. The only thing the laptop does is blink the "power" LED 5 times when I do anything with the power button. No hard drive spinning, nothing. Suggestions?

I bought an Acer Aspire E 15 yesterday and am relatively happy with it thus far.  However, I do have a caveat.  While I don't mind Windows, I prefer to use a Linux OS.  I burned an Ubuntu ISO onto a DVD and rebooted the system.  It started Windows 10.  I restarted, went into the BIOS, and changed the boot order so that the DVD drive would be booted first.  No can-do, still loaded up Windows.  I changed the Boot sequence to a Legacy one, and then nothing booted up at all upon restart.  So I just had to go back and change it back to where it was.  I want to try it on a flash drive, but cannot find it at the moment.  I'm thinking that if I couldn't boot it up from DVD, it probably wouldn't boot up from a flash either, but will try anyway.  Would upgrading the BIOS make a difference?  I know that it isnt recommended, but to me, not being able to boot up from a CD to install the OS that I'd rather use is a pretty big deal to me.  I have Googled and come up upon several Linux forums that weren't of much help.  Can you guys figure out a fix?  Thanks.

Acer Aspire E15 - AMD A6 (used Ubuntu for AMD)Windows 10 (stock) The battery is not removable, so I can't do a hard reset. Thanks for any help.
