PC wont turn on after bios update

Question: PC wont turn on after bios update

The PSU, has the usual motherboard plug but is 4 blocks short and I only have 1 12v atx plug whereas it needs 2Well, it was a new build this morning and after reading online that my motherboard needed a bios update due to it not being able to support the 955 CPU, I flashed the bios. After I pressed esc to restart, the computer went black and nothing happened for a good long while. I then restarted the computer and since then, it hasnt been able to post. There are no beeps from the speaker to indicate anything and I have tried pressing the clear cmos button on the motherboard and nothing changed. I have tried disconneting the psu and then leaving it for 10 mins and no change. Is this because I do not have the correct power supply unit? if so, why did it post and power on and not now? There were no issues with the checksum when flashing so why is it broken now? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for all the help in advance :)Cheers!Tom

Preferred Solution: PC wont turn on after bios update

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Synopsis: PSU died, replaced PSU with different model, system boots to bios successfully but does not recognize any devices in SATA ports, nor do those devices appear to be getting power. Now can't even get to BIOS, entire PC flicks on and off repeatedly as soon as I turn the PSU on regardless of whether I hit the power button on the front of the computer.

Detailed explanation:About a week ago my PSU (Seasonic 750w) died randomly while the computer was left running in sleep . I RMA'd the dead seasonic. In the mean time I happened to come accross an extremely good deal on a new PSU, so I bought it (Thermaltake smart m850w PSU) to have a backup and to get my machine working again.

I hooked up the new PSU to GPUs, CPU, fans, ATX power connector, and to all of the SATA devices, (the SSD, the HDD, and the Optical drive). I made sure to connect the data cables to the SATA devices in the same configuration they were in when working properly. The computer boots suc... Read more

Answer:PSU died, new PSU, bios wont recognize SATA devices, now wont turn on

I had a similar problem when I had an Antec PSU die on me. After I replaced it, my Biostar mobo's BIOS would no longer retain settings, and both my Pioneer DVD burners were completely dead. Not recognized in the BIOS, they would not acknowledge any discs inserted, nothing worked. I also started getting BSODs pointing to a corrupt BIOS. Replacing the burners didn't help. Putting the Pioneer burners in a new machine didn't work.

It turned out that the dying Antec PSU had wrecked the Biostar's BIOS chip and both Pioneer DVD burners. Replacing the BIOS chip was more expensive than buying a new motherboard, and reflashing the chip wasn't possible because the flash utility told me I already had the latest BIOS version. I ended up trashing the board and buying an ASRock board and Samsung burners.

If you get a new motherboard (or try another known-good working PC), and you connect your present SATA devices and they don't work, then the dying Seasonic may have burnt them out, too.

Recently, my computer seemed to have crashed. It would randomly shut off while i was away and eventually never turned back on. At first it would just keep rebooting, then i would get a blue screen finally to the point where the power button on the machine did nothing, the fans wouldnt even move.
I had an Asus P4S533 motherboard and a P4 2.0 running on XP.
I tested the PSU and it was fine, tried another video card..nothing.
So i figured the MB was shot, so I bought a Giga-byte GA-8VT800.
Using the same processor on the new MB, I turned on the machine only to have it freeze in the BIOS sequence.
It froze at the point where it recognizes the CPU and it gave me this message and then it froze:
Health OK
Main Processor Pentium 4 2.66
CPUID: 0524 Patch ID:001E this point it would freeze and i could do nothing.
My processor is NOT a 2.66 but a 2.0....
Could my CPU be fried also?
Someone please help me getting frustrated

Hello, Im new to forums so please bare with me.
My problem started when i dropped my cellphone on my Envy m6 1160la. The screen froze and i started hearing a feint beeping sound. I left it like that for a while, since i could turn the leds on and off. After it failed to work again i turned it off only to turn it back on and be greeted with the same feint beeping sound and no hp logo or loading. After a while the phrase "Checking media" "fail" would come up twice and then a blue box that would say something and then turn off my computer. I changed the HDD and the beeping stopped but the same thing happened. I turned off secure mode but then it said i needed to install an OS and something about 3fo hardrive. I then tested both hardrives and the one that gives me a beeping sound approves the memory test but fails the dst short and long and the smart (dont know what this is), and the one without the beeping approves all. Now after all this I came ro the conclusion that me HDD was bad and that i had to install a new OS on another one (dont know if i was right) but since the HDD that wasnt beeping ran on win 7, I thought if i changed to legacy i would be able to boot up my computer. After i changed it it restarted and i could hear the HDD spinning and the fan and leds would turn on but the screen wouldnt and wont. Any help on my current and previous problem would be much appreciated.

Answer:My computer screen wont turn on after changing BIOS

Likely not completing POST. Clear the CMOS (which will change the BIOS back to default), and try booting again.

My PC/Monitor was working before but I forgot to connect my hard drive to my power supply. So after I connected the power cord from my hard drive to my power supply, I turned on my Computer and my Monitor. Unfortunately, when I turned both on, my Monitor said "No Signal" on both HDMI 1 and 2. I don't know if I accidentally damaged a part or knocked something out. I just need to know what parts affect video/visual and potentially how to fix the problem.

Answer:PC can turn on but my BIOS menu wont display on my monitor

Generally it's anything video related, like a graphics card or the motherboard's onboard video.

The first rule is generally to do a bare boot.

Pull out all but one stick of RAM and any other add-in cards you may have. MAKE SURE THAT THE ONE STICK OF RAM YOU LEAVE IN NEED TO BE IN THE CORRECT DIMM SLOT FOR ONE STICK. They are usually number A1 A2, etc. Check your motherboard manual for your correct configuration.

It would also help greatly if you can post a full list of your computer's SPECIFIC specs.

Pull out the motherboard CMOS battery and unplug from wall power, if you haven't done so already. Push the power button and hold it down for about 45 seconds.

Reinsert the CMOS battery and the wall power plug. Try to boot...any picture?

In Services Windows Update does not show 'started'? Left click to Highlight it, right click to open it.
Does it say stop or start? If wupdate showed started this would show stop and vice versa.
I'd do a system restore to some earlier date when it may have been working.

I got a notice on my laptop saying there was a critical update, so I clicked ok go ahead with it. Now that this problem has occurred and I've been hunting for a solution I see that people generally warn against doing BIOS updates. Unfortunately I didn't know about that and was just naively letting the laptop go ahead with whatever updates it wanted. Too late now. My laptop shut itself down like it was going to restart, when I looked back over ten minutes later it was still sitting with a black screen and LED light on. Unresponsive to anything. It's been two hours now.  To make matter worse, I'm trying to contact Lenovo customer support and keep getting a "document not found" page error when I try to get to the contact information on Lenovo's website. This forum is apparently the only thing I can access. So.. any advice? I'm in a complete panic here as I heavily depend on that laptop for a number of things and having it not work puts me in a really bad situation.

I have been using Windows 10 Pro 64bit for a month with only 1 persistent issue which was that the Intel Management Engine would give errors that it wouldn't shake hands with the firmware. The event error stated it was related to MEIx64. I've tried several different drivers, and different versions of Intel Management Engine but still had the same issue. So I decided to update my bios as I was on the 2.17 version. I followed the instructions step-by-step including deregistering from AMT or something in the bios. Once I ran the update utlitiy as admin within Windows it began the update and then the laptop completely shut down. So I left it for a little bit thinking it was doing something. It never turned on and now it still won't turn on.  The screen will stay black, no backlight at all of any kind. The power LED on the power button turns on (and the keyboard lights) for about 3 seconds then it turns off and makes a quiet pop sound. It then turns on automatically but with the same issue of no LCD screen, no backlight, then after about 20-30 seconds it turns off making the pop sound again.  Also, when I plug the AC power in, the power LED blinks 3 times. Not sure if this is normal or not. I've tried removing battery and AC, pressing power button 10 times at 1 second intervals and then holding power button for 30 seconds to no avail. I've tried the emergency reset button on the bottom of the laptop. I've unplugged the CMOS battery for about 30 seconds and... Read more

A few days ago, my 9470m Ultrabook automatically updated its BIOS. This was fine, as it has updated its BIOS before in the past. I went to do some things while it updated, and when I came back, the laptop had turned off. The charge light (the lightning bolt light on the edge of the laptop) was blinking white and amber and did not turn on when I pressed the power button. When I took off the battery, the light stopped blinking, and when I put the battery back in, the light began to blink again, but the laptop still would not turn back on when I pressed the power button. I've tried taking off the battery and plugging in the AC only, but still the light would just blink and the laptop would not turn on when I pressed the power button. I do not know what is wrong. The laptop had been working flawlessly until the BIOS update. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks to any support. -Daniel

Answer:Laptop won't turn on after BIOS update

Hi, At first, please try a Hard Reset as follows. Performing a hard resetDisconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and SD media cards.Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain all residual power and restore default startup settings.Reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not insert the battery), press the Power button, look for glowing Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) near the caps lock and num lock keys, and listen for sounds of a fan or other moving parts turning. If the computer starts normally after performing a hard reset, you are done troubleshooting. When the Notebook restarts keep tapping the f10 key to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults (this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. I am waiting to hear back from you. !------------------- Please click the KUDOS star on the left to say 'Thanks'. Please mark 'Accept as Solution' if it answers/solves your problem. Thank you-----------------------------------------------------------------!I am an HP Employee.

I wouldnt boot up as it didnt recognize my wlan. I had no recovery disk as it is a rfeurbished model. So no warranty as well. The only thing i did was bringing back tothe shop and they reinstalled the bios which came with the machine. So if you are able to update ur Thinkpad (what model?) back again with the original bios it mus work again. Good luck mate.

I decided to update my laptop's drivers and went ahead and downloaded the BIOS updater from Lenovo too. clicking okay I closed all programs and disconnect peripherals so I did just that and even unplugged my mouse and used the trackpad to click okay.Windows (8.1) then began the restart process. It shut down then turned on to what seems to be the BIOS flashing. I remmember it having the same current and installed BIOS model but the current version was 1.10 and the installed was 3.05After it was done (100%) the fan started spinning at full speed. I can hear and feel the wind with my hand on the exhaust vent then it shut down. Lights off and everything. Here's the part where it became grim. It restarted the power button glowed and the keyboard backlight lit up briefly as usual. Then it shutdown lights off and everything. And it did the process over and over again indefinitely. There was no lenovo logo. The backlight didn't even light up. Pls help I'm an engineering student and I really need this laptop right now.I've tried power draining it then putting everything back together and turning it back on again but with no luck.

Since updating the BIOS on my U400-15E (Vista 32), the illumination of multi-media keys, touchpad always turn on after reboot, resuming from sleep or hibernation. Touching the illumination off key once does nothing but the second touch turns them off till next restart.

Illumination is disabled in bios setup and also via HWsetup. After reboot/wakeup, without touching the illumination on/of button, accessing the illumination tab in HWSetup, illumination is shown as off even though it is on. Touching the on/off button then toggles illumination to on without changing actual illumination on keyboard. Next touch toggles both to off.

This is not a major pain but very frustrating. Any ideas?

Answer:Satellite U400 - After BIOS update the illumination turn on

Did you reinstall the right BIOS for your notebook? The Satellite U400-15E belongs to the PSU44E series and did you choose this model on the Toshiba website before you have downloaded the update?

Furthermore for Satellite U400 are different BIOS version available - One for 64bit OS and one for 32bit OS. So what version did you install on your notebook?

Last but not least I recommend reinstalling the Value Added Package. This controls also the illumination function.

Hi Josefa,

It sounds as if you BIOS chip has been corrupted during the failed update attempt, and unfortunately this will prevent you from booting your notebook so that you can tyr to do the update again.

I believe it will be necessary for you to take or send the notebook to a Toshiba Authorised service agent who will have the necssary equipment to re-flash your BIOS chip.

You probably need to replace the CMOS battery with a new one. This is NOT the main battery, it's a little round, silver-coloured battery attached to the motherboard inside your laptop.

Question: BIOS wont update.

Hi everyone, I am trying to update my BIOS on my Lenovo IdeaCenter K330 Model 7727 from DKKT15AUS to DKJY15AUS. The reason for this is because my new GPU (Radeon RX 480 8GB) wont work. I install it and the computer just powers on but doesnt display anything. The fans all are on including those of the card. I have upgraded the power supply to 650W unit a few years ago from the ideacenter's original. So the BIOS update installs just fine but, once I restart the system it displays a error message saying: "Error: 0162 Setup data integrity check failure" along with 2 beeps. I restarted the system a couple times to see it the same error comes up and on the 3rd time the system started up without the error message. I then checked the BIOS version and it reverted back to the original version. I am not sure what to do to get the update to work. I do have windows 10 and the BIOS update is for windows 7. Not sure if that did have an effect. Thanks for reading.

Hi guys,

I have a Satellite L450D. I recently (regrettably) attempted to update the BIOS after a clean install because the FN button was no longer working to bring up the toolbar.

The Winphlash program froze near the end and the entire system remained frozen for a good half hour. The only way to get out of it was to remove the battery (as far as I know anyway).

Now the system won't turn on with battery in or out and plugged into mains. I'm guessing I've damaged the hdd or the motherboard or something.

Is there any way of fixing it? Or is that it?

Thank you very much for your help.

BTW - I now know not to update the BIOS unless it is TOTALLY necessary and well-advised.

Answer:Satellite L450D PSLY5E Freeze during BIOS update - now will not turn on

>I'm guessing I've damaged the hdd or the motherboard or something.

No, the HDD isn?t damage but the Rom module where the BIOS is stored has not been flashed properly.
I guess this happened because the flash procedure has been interrupted.

I?m not quite sure if this can be fixed? maybe the service guy could flash the ROM module again using special BIOS crisis disk.

I keep the finger crossed?

Answer:Satellite C855-1j4j does not turn on - Bios update interrupted

From my point of few the EPROM module has to be re-flashed once again using special BIOS crisis recovery disk.

Usually such procedure could be done only by authorized service provider available in your country.

But I found an interesting posting about BIOS flash procedure on U400 series.
See last post [here| ]

But I?m not quite sure if such info would be helpful and if it would work in connection with your notebook. However, in case it would not work, contact the Toshiba ASP for help

Long story short my cpu was running at 100% constantly even when (besides for windows programs) I only had skype open. I looked online and saw people were having the same problem. They said to update the bios and the original creator of the thread would always say something along the lines of "Thanks it worked my pc is back to normal!" So I downloaded an update for my motherboard bios and then after I started it my screen went black. Ive tried restarting the pc and dont know what to do. Please help!

So I updated my BIOS. I have an HP 150t and the motherboard died so I bought another one online and it was working fine but I decided to update the BIOS going into HPs website which mightve been a mistake. Now onto the problem: When I update everything was fine except it took about 20 seconds for the monitor to light up and after it did it took a really long time from the POST screen to boot into Windows. But after it did it worked like a charm. Now it still does the same except that it wont boot into Windows anymore and Startup repair has not been able to fix it. Thanks a lot for the help

Hi to all!I just baught Z50-75 with AMD FX7500, 8GB Ram and FreeDOS. I installed Windows 8.1 Pro, and they pulled some drivers during the installation, and I went to Lenovo sight and downloaded all the rest (graphics, camera, etc.), after each installation the computer restarted normally and all was O.K. The last drivers that I saw on the site were BIOS drivers, and I downloaded those to and it started the installation after which it said:"The system will now restart for changes to make effect", and it did, but, it would not boot up after that, all it did was show me this on the screen:   And I tried both of the options (the second one with the Windows CD inside), but it just stays where it is, no effect.I can enter the bios and change the settings, but none of them seem to work because this is the maximum where it will go, the only difference is when I change from AHCI to Compatible mode, it restarts and than I have a blank screen, I have to use the One button Recovery to get back to this one from the picture above...I would appriciate any kond of help, please give me some advice.

Hi everyone,
I am trying to update my BIOS on my Lenovo IdeaCenter K330 Model 7727 from DKKT15AUS to DKJY15AUS.

Ok so i decided i would update my BIOS as i saw there was a new BIOS available at the dell website

I have a Inspiron 1100 2.2Cel, 512 Ram, 30GIG
I had a A29 BIOS and was updating to A30, So i downloaded and started the BIOS update it starts installing and has to restart as it restarts all is fine till it gets to the windows splash screen and it comes up with a certain boot file is missing in system32 ( I didn't get chance to see the specifics as i wasn't expecting a problem) and then straight away it restarts so the BIOS didnt finish installing and from then on it simply just keeps restarting at the splash screen

So i thought i would try Safe mode but the same problem, I then try putting my XP cd in and repairing the windows but still no luck so then i went and instaled a second XP which is now working fine, which relieved a bit as the Computer parse is working just not the original Windows

I now have access to the other windows install to be able to put the missing files in, But my main concern is getting "My Documents" as i have a lot of college stuff which isn't backed up on my USB drive, And when i go to get access it comes up with access denied because it's private

I have tried This
still didnt help

Tried copying some system32 files from the fresh install to the old see if the file might missing might have been added but still no luck

I did a virus scan and the scanner was able to scan the files in the "My Docume... Read more

Hello P1, welcome to the community,
clearly something is not right, have you called support to request assistance?  The phone number for support in South Africa is 0800-110-756; they are reachable 09:00 - 18:00  Monday - Friday.
That said, something you could try is to reset the system.  Remove the power cord and removable battery.  On the underside of the system is a reset hole, (Nr. 5 in the below illustration), insert a straightened paper clip and hold the reset button depressed for 3 seconds.  Once you have completed this please attach the power cord and see if the system starts normally.

Please let us know the outcome.

I have just updated my BIOS from 2.10 to 2.20 to try to overcome an overheating problem with Linux.
On rebooting the laptop XP will not start. I get the XP screen for a few seconds then the blue scrren of death flashes up beofre the laptop reboots. The blue screen is so quick it doesn't finish writing up the text - so I cannot see any numbers to check the error.

If I select Linux Mint from my GRUB screen the laptop starts correctly. I can also see the Windows partitions. I have tried to boot from an XP disc to run CHKDSK but I get to the stage where it says it is inspecting my configuration then hangs on a black / blank screen and just sits there.

Any ideas? Is it possible to roll back the BIOS?

Answer:Xp wont start after BIOS update on Satellite L

> Is it possible to roll back the BIOS?

Yes, you can downgrade (rollback) if you have made a backup.

Can you enter the Bios and check if compatible mode enabled (after Bios update, it could put AHCI by default)?

I downloaded the Bios via Lenovo's site on my Yoga.  The Yoga was plugged in and the utility ran as expected.  After it restarted, it never came back.  The Function key was lit green and the keyboard would light up but the screen is black and it won't boot.  How can I troubleshoot? I already turned it off (after letting it sit there for a long time) and I get the same result.   I also tried unplugging it and hitting the reset button.  Still the same, its like it went into hibernation.  The power button is still on.

I just got a used Optiplex 160 (Model DC01T) with BIOS A06 and have tried everything to get it to update to BIOS A10, A09, A08 or A07.
I downloaded the unified DOS/Windows BIOS and put it on a FreeDOS USB stick.  When I run the package it goes through everything and then reboots but never actually updates the BIOS.  I have tried installing Linux on a USB Flash drive installing the Dell OMSA tools and use dellBiosUpdate pointing to the A09.HDR file.
For whatever reason that also fails because the dell_rbu module does not populate "/sys/class/firmware/dell_rbu/" like it should.  Also no amount of copying "init" to  "/sys/devices/platform/dell_rbu/image_type" helps correct that issue.
The only thing I can think of is that when the system reboots it goes to an "Alert Fan!" message because this unit did not come with the HD & Fan bracket.  I have one on its way but if that Alert/Error is clearing the BIOS update flag then everything should work once the fan arrives and I get that connected.
If that's not the case is there anything else I should try?

Answer:Optiplex 160 BIOS wont update (because the fan is missing?)

I finally got it  figured out if anyone is interested.  The fan error might be causing the normal update to fail but using a bunch of switches you can force the update to install and then reboot.

Hi,I recently updated my Inspiron 17R (7720) to the latest bios however as soon as it completed the process the battery stopped working. When I go into the bios there is the following message:"Your battery is temporarily disabled. Please turn off your computer and try again when the unit is back to the operational temperature". The machine has been left off for many hours now and is very cool to the touch however the battery wont engage and the issue persists between multiple battery packs (I have a backup battery too). As far as I can tell it is the bios that has broken my laptop and I am unable to fix it on my own. I have spent many hours trying to fix the issue at this point, following all of the advice that I can find on these forums. I suspect that either the bios has a bug or the laptop has a faulty sensor. Is anyone able to help?

Answer:x200 tablet BIOS wont update

This is yet another example of why Lenovo has failed as a company to support its customer and why, after owning 5 of these systems and recommending them to companies and friends, I'm done. I also found this same error on the X200T. It is as if nobody tests these patch releases any longer. I also have a problem with the wireless LAN driver going out to lunch. All of a sudden the Lenovo wireless app shows a red X through the connection icon (lower right) and shows the radio as powered-off. I am unable to power it on. The only solution is to reboot. This is what I paid nearly $2K for on this particular machine.

Hi there. I have a Lenovo Z575 and I installed the BIOS update on the Lenovo drivers page and now my computer wont boot. However, I now have no operating system on my computer so can't use any of the fixes I find online. Oddly enough, it installs Ubuntu 10.04 that I have on a disc. It's only when i try to install Windows I get any errors.I've already tried loading default settings in the BIOS with no luck. Is there another way to reset the BIOS?ThanksSteph

I have bought my wife a Toshiba L300-20D ( PSLB8E-0CK00YEN ). It came with Vista loaded which she cannot get on with.

My grandson offerred to sort it out. He fitted a new hard drive, loaded it with XP and managed to get nearly all the drivers working with the exception of the WiFi .

After spending many hours he decided to update the bios from v1.8 to v1.9. Since then it wont start.. It comes up with the Toshba screen, Start windows normally, it then tries to load windows, flashes and starts the cycle al over.

He has tried the default settings, tried an XP disc, setting it to start on disc, nothing. It does just the same in safe mode.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Answer:Satellite L300-20D - After BIOS update it wont start now

Did you set the SATA Mode to "Compatibility" when installing XP? (You would see a BSOD with the code 0x0000007B - if Automatic Restart is disabled from the Windows boot menu)

The BIOS update would have reset it back to SATA AHCI Mode. So set it to Compatibility again.

If that doesn't work, try a System Restore in Safe Mode to return the registry back to a previous date.

Answer:Satellite Pro C850 wont work after Bios update

Saying: don?t work? you mean it does not power up or what do you mean exactly?
Did you flash the BIOS properly?

Possibly something went wrong during the update and this means that ROM module isn?t flashed properly?

In most cases a special BIOS crisis disk would be needed to get it working?
Not quite sure if you can get it fixed by your own?

Answer:R30 wont boot after bios update.. says need new b/up batt.... Please helppppppppppppp

I've found theres a physical problem with the design of the motherboard (or at least MY R30), it seems that the bios battery holder has  comes up from the motherboard indicating a dry solder joint is the cause. I have resoldered it twice and am now considering putting in a 3032 battery with the built in leads and soldering it directly to the motherboard and bypassing the dodgy battery clip altogether. Also a kludge to make sure it keeps contact is cut up a peice of plastic 1/8 inch/2-3mm thick to the size that fits underneath the keyboard plug and contacts the battery,  and wedge it under there. I've had my bios battery kept in by this method for a month or so now and im not changing it until i can be bothered with stripping my laptop down and replacing the battery connector as indicated above. Good luck, p.s. did you really need to upgrade the bios or was it a "why not?" idea?

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

The laptop is a Toshiba satelite L300D.

Answer:Toshiba l300D wont load up after bios update fail

It doesn't sound like it is fixable on your end. Flash BIOSes that go bad, leave you with a doorstop. You'll hear the statement, "I bricked my computer". This means you turned your device into a brick also known as a doorstop.

You might want to post at a good BIOS site

People do send bricked computers off, have the BIOS chip desoldered and a new one soldered on. You might be able to get information on that type of service.

Maybe if you contact Toshiba, they will be able to tell you of some companies that do this.

Hi, let me just start by saying im an idiot....

Dowloaded a few drivers for my toshiba p100 240 and noticed there was a BIOS update, i downloaded it and ran the program only for it to come up with
an error that it will only allow the Administrator to run program. My laptop became slow and would not allow me to turn it off by any means. In the end i took out the
battery and restarted only to find a blank screen, no start up or anything on screen.

I fear i have totally killed my machine and its about 4 months out of warrenty, Im sure there is no cheap miricle cure for this but if anyone can give me my options here I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for your time,

Answer:Satellite P100-240 wont boot up after failed BIOS update

Hi mate,

Thats a bit of a problem... If your machine really won?t boot up and no screen comes up, then your BIOS was probably damaged.

I would really recommend you to contact an [authorized service partner| 000000871] and tell them your problem. Maybe they can do something for. I mean, your machines hardware is ok, and it?s just some BIOS related thing.

Hope your machine will work again..

I tried to do a BIOS update on my DX1210 last night to version 1.5,
During the update there was a write failed error message and now the system won't boot.
Is there a way to reflash the bios when a bios update fails?
I've got all the bios files extracted on to a USB key but I'm not sure what to do to initate a bios recovery?

Answer:Qosmio DX1210 wont boot - Bios update failed

Well, BIOS problems can be solved only by an Toshiba authorized service partner.
I assume the ROM module where the BIOS is stored, has not been flashed properly.
The Rom module can be flashed again using an special crisis disk.

Therefore I see just one real option for you: get in contact with the service guy to get it fixed.

This is an issue that I've seen in two other posts, but I can't find a resolution: I've posted on those threads to see if somone had a resolution on there, but I don't see any posted. We are experiencing the same issue.  Brand new m715q with BIOS ver M11KT31A (3/31/2017).  Windows 7 preinstalled.  Goes to sleep.  When you move the mouse or touch the keyboard the screen stays black and it doesn't wake from sleep.  Tried upgrading all drivers.  No change.  Tried upgrading the firmware.  That was when we discovered the firmware will not upgrade.  Firmware issue.  From the TVSU program it runs through the whole BIOS upgrade process, shutsdown windows, then the screen goes black, the fans rev up, and then stays that way.  Monitor says going to power save mode.  It never continues past that point.  If I go into the BIOS system log it says "BIOS updated"; however, the version has not changed.  We tried upgrading to M11KT32A.  Then recently they just released M11KT33A.  Same thing, doesn't upgrade.  I've tried running the update from system update, from the windows command line with manual reboot, from a bootable USB stick, and a bootable CD image and nothing works. ... Hi I'm new to this whole forum thing so let's see how I go.

Some background info about my laptop is probably useful so I'll start there. I have owned my ASUS Transformer Book TX300CA for about 2 years now and haven't had many recent issues with it. My laptop recently suggested to update my Windows 10 to the "Anniversary Edition" and I did so thinking everything would be fine.

I didn't really use my computer for a couple of days after that but it was still turned on and charging as normal (I never usually turn it off). The next time I went to use it, it notified me that it just had to finish installing the updates which it did after this I went to use my computer and proceeded to detach the screen of the transformer book from the keyboard dock. I held it for about two minutes in which it was working perfectly normally and then all of a sudden it went black as though it had run out of battery life which it shouldn't have as it was charging all day and had a good percentage before I detached it from the keyboard dock.

Initially the computer was still making some whirring sounds but when I held down the power button in an attempt to turn it back on it stopped completely. I put it back on the keyboard dock and attempted to charge it thinking that I may of not had it plugged in and the battery may have just died. After a nights worth of charging it would still not turn on. I took a closer look and separated the screen and keyboard again.... Read more

I have a Satellite U400 and its a year and a few months old.

In the last little bit it has been acting up, and it started with when the computer goes to sleep and goes to the black blank screen it will not come back from that.
The only way to do anything is hold in the power key till it turns off and then turning it back on. This brings me to the warning screen I have turned my computer off incorrectly. It has been doings this for a few weeks and started randomly out of the blue.

Then just today it wouldnt turn on at all, I was pressing the power key and the key itself would light up, and on the bottom right hand side the little lights would light up but wouldnt turn on, I kept pressing it over and over and over again and finally it did turn on. Once on I only used it for a few mins before turning off again and then would do the same thing, I kept pressing the bottom till it turned on. Its been on now and hasnt turned off again.

Not to log ago I had to reformat my computer due to me forgeting my password and had locked myself out of the computer. About a week after that is when the issues started. I am not all that computer smart, to be honest, I do understand something things, I can follow step by step to do something.

I really dont want to pay to have it fix I want to just do it myself and soon as its in great shape and never had any issues before.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be, or why it could be?

I am thinking about reformatting again ... Read more

Answer:Satellite U400 wont turn on & when on wont come back from sleep mode

hi aev270,
sounds like a serious problem to me.
try the following: take out battery, cd-rom, hdd and try again.
if it starts up without this components - you got lucky!
this means it probably a software issue (but i dont think so - sorry)
do you see the toshiba logo / bios messages? no - the you are in trouble.
this strange behaviour could depend on many things: defektive components like ram or grafics... or (badest thing) the mainboard...
if you have still warranty on it you should go to a servicepartner having the system checked.

Answer:Newbie bsod. Wont boot, wont even turn on most times, but does sometimes

If I leave it alone for a few hrs, the system might seem like its going to work, the on switch goes blue lit, theres the normal beep it makes, the three lights on the keyboard flash, then i get packard bell screen for split second which gives me options like enter BIOS, but that scares me. Then it will go straight to the American Trends page i explained earlier and wont go further

Then if you switch power off again and see what happens, it may not even power up next time, no blue lit on, a split second of fan noise then nada. Or it may have nothing happen except you can hear the fan running and the dvd drive can open

Of course she cant find her vista disc!!! We will find it 2moro somewhere though. There is no important data on the pc so if it was possible to reinstall vista I would just leave it in to get fixed. I got quoted 25 pounds.

Can anyone help me out or have any clue. My brother had a problem last month with a firefox update which gave him similair trouble. But lucky for him, it resolved itself after 3 days of turning it on/off and hoping for the best

Dear all,

I own a satellite A100-383 (PSAARE) that will not restart when the battery is totally empty or if I leave it without the battery overnight. The battery will not charge either and all front panel lights are off. I must have always some charge on my battery and do not leave it unplugged more than 2 days.

If for any reason my battery was totally drained, plugging and unplugging the mains from the wall socket would make all lights turn up and charge the battery again.

Unfortunately I went on holidays and forgot my pc unplugged and it does not charge or turn on.?All front lights are off. Tried my dear old method of plugging in repeatedly with the battery and without it with no luck.. I could see a connection for a second or so but I was not quick enough to plug it back in and they turned off.

I would be so thankful to you all if you could give me some help to turn on my pc. Once I have it back on and charging I will buy a new battery for sure.

I am looking forward to read your advices.

Thank you all in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer:Satellite A100-383 wont turn on - battery wont charge

After waiting for several hours and plugging in the computer again, suddenly I saw the line in mains light on but soon faded away. I repeated the procedure and could turn on the pc before the mains light could turn off. I am sending this post from my PC.

I still do not know what may be happening to it but I will try to solve it by buying a new battery and never ever unplugging for long periods my PC.
