I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Question: Urgent Help Needed

I have Windows Xp. I ran into a problem last week with my computer and a nasty virus hit my system. (I forgot what it was) However, this thing would not even let me pull up my security software or download a new one under safe mode. Long story short... I did a system restore. Since then, my system is just not back to what it was. I did hit the backup file selection. All of my pictures are gone. My daughter is 9 and every single pic I had of her is gone, all of my coursework is gone, and I am just sick and don't know what to do.

I have tried to actually go back and restore manually but, it will not allow me to restore before the actual date that I did the restore.

Can someoone help me? Also, I have no sound coming from my speakers. I went into the control panel and it is not even picing up that there are speakers there. I plugged in my headphones to see if they would work and they are not working either. I cannot manually go into my control panel because it is not picking up anything there in the sound department.

Someone please help me retrieve my pictures and files... Please.... Can someone help me get my system back to normal??? Thank you somuch for anyone who can help me.

Question: Urgent Help Needed

So right now I have a Trojan. I am trying to get rid of it. Earlier I went into the WTM, and looked at my processes that I had running. What I am doing is going through all of the processes and looking up what they are, what they do, and if they could be a potential danger to my computer. I came across a program called SVCHOST.exe. I typed it in at the UniBlue process library, andI got mixed results. Apparently, SVCHOST is a essential program that is harmless, But, it seems that alot of Trojans and harmful things alike disguise themselves as SVCHOST. I currently have 8 different svchost.exe's running, with mem usage ranging from 3,000 kb, to 28,000. Do you think that I have a problem?

I tried to download something earlier (not porn, promise) but immediately after i pressed download, it redirected me to a porn site. At the time, I had AVG antivirus, but I uninstalled that and downloaded Avast! I ran the test and it did find a trojan, it also found a buch of spyware. I did what it recommended me to do ( being that i was unfamiliar with avast), and I moved them to the chest, but some of them werent able to go to the chest, i am not sure that one of them was the trojan though, but I am nearly certain because after I put the bad stuff in the chest, I chose to delete them, but, after I deleted them, I still have the Trojan. What the trojan is doing is when I try to get on IE, it says Blank page and tells me to download a fake antivirus. Obviously, I did not. Also, when I try to ... Read more

This evening i received an email from an unknown source which had an attatchment (.pif). I stupidly opened it. I subsequently ran a virus check using Housecall's online virus scan and it has shwon that there is a worm on my system which is known as 'FIZZER A'. Housecall says it in uncleanable. If anybody can help with this situation i would really appreciate it, i'm terrified to turn my comp of incase it wipes the hard drive or something. Please help :(((

Answer:URGENT HELP NEEDED!

The worm spreads via e-mail and includes its own SMTP engine to bypass any security your e-mail client may have. Fizzer also spreads via Kazaa, a popular file-sharing application. The worm establishes its own accounts on Internet Relay Chat (IRC) and AOL Instant Messenger, in order to await further instructions from the virus author. Fizzer attempts to disable any antivirus program running at the time of infection. Systems infected with Fizzer could be used in distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on other computers. Fizzer includes a keystroke-logging Trojan horse, which can be used to steal passwords words and credit card information. Because Fizzer spreads via e-mail and Kazaa, contains a keystroke-logging Trojan horse, and could be used in a DDoS attack, this worm rates a 7 on the ZDNet Virus Meter. How it worksFizzer arrives as e-mail with several possible subject lines and body texts. The From: address can be forged and therefore should not be trusted. Fizzer's attached files contain one of the following extensions: .com, .exe, .pif and .scr. If a user opens the attached file or otherwise activates the worm, three files are added to the Windows directory:Most antivirus software companies have updated their signature files to include this worm. This will stop the infection upon contact and in some cases will remove an active infection from your system. For more information, see Central Command, F-Secure, McAfee, MessageLabs, Sophos, Symantec, or Trend Micro.

Question: Urgent help needed

Well, I installed the beta version of Windows 7 on my HP Pavilion a810n PC. It was good, but all my drivers were disabled. I went to revert back to Windows XP, since in the Boot menu it had the option now to revert to previous Windows. I went into it, and it opened the HP recovery. Now, I've had to do HP recovery twice in the past, but now, it looks way different. Now it just gives me options to go into a sort of command-promt type thing, where I pick a place and can implement commands. That's about all I can do. At one point, I typed in "FIXMBR", not knowing completely what it did. Now, when I start my computer back up, it goes into that same recovery type thing. How do I get back on Windows 7, or better yet, Windows XP? Also, I thought I should add, that in the restart thing, where it's the HP logo and at the bottom it says "press F10 for system recovery", the button no longer works, and I have to let it restart to go into recovery. I need the computer, ASAP, so the sooner you can help me, the better. Thank you in advance!

Answer:Urgent help needed

sounds like your os and recovery may be corrupted...Probably going to have to do a fresh install. If there is data you need on your computer about the only thing I can suggest(assuming you have another computer available) is to get an external hard drive enclosure. Put your drive in it, hook it up to the secondary machine and copy everything you need off of it.

Hello,
I own a emachines T3522
I have a very annoying problem that is really making me very upset i am getting a pop up as soon as i turn my system on stating "msmsgs.exe-unable to locate component and in the field it says this application has failed to start. There's a whole bunch of other errors. I press ok like 20 times and they seem to restart over and over again.
I also have the recovery disk but when It loading it gives me this blue screen with C0000135 ( unable to locate component)

Additional info from another thread
I own a emachines "T3522 Destop"
This 'Unable To locate Component' crap is driving me crazy. When I log onto my guest account it gives me this error.
Setup.50.exe cannot find comres.dll. That also happens on the new admin account I created. There's only one account that this doesn't happen to and it my orignal account but on my original account almost all the other programs gives me unable to locate component also such as MSN and others. I even tried to PC restore everything by inserting the emacines operating system disc. When I get to the loading part It gives me a blue screen with c0000135 unable to locate component In PC Restore???
I honestly need someone to help me on this asap.

Thank you

You really dont want to install 64bit in 2 gigs of ram. That is the absolute minimum. It will crawl

That being said you need to boot from the dvd not try to launch it from within an OS.

Right firstly my laptop disk drive doesn't work so a factory restore is out of the question.

Disk checker was running and my laptop shut off midway through, since then my laptop hasn't been working because windows explorer is not responding. Safe mode works perfectly fine.

What could be the problem and how should I resolve it?

Answer:urgent help needed

Before anything else I would try running Disc Checker in safe mode which I guess you have.

Other than that, windows restore via the windows CD comes to my mind. I believe there are better options out there though which I'm not aware of.

Answer:Help Needed Urgent!!!

"wot can i do"1). Use a thread title that actually describes your problem, NOT "Help Needed Urgent!!!"2). Try the memory stick in another PC. If that doesn't recognise it, you have probably lost the files on the memory stick.3). Use English rather than text-speak; which not all of us understand.

Question: URGENT HELP NEEDED

So I live at home with my parents and they've been getting weird emails lately from 'MAILER-DAEMON' and 'Mail delivery system' saying we've got undelivered mail. We've been getting hundreds of these over about the last two weeks.

Today we got an email supposedly from Westnet, our internet provider. It said our mail system was infected with a virus and we needed to call their number in the email.

That was about an hour ago. My mother (against everything I told her) has since called the number and gotten 'live support' via the phone. It involved basically the guy on the phone taking complete control over our computer: mouse, keyboard, everything; and showing my mother what needed to be done.

it involved completely reconfiguring our modem, giving them our address and installing 'malwarebytes' off a site called Ninite.

My mother is insisting he's just a friendly support person who's doing this all for free. Am I being paranoid? Because we have a decent amount of fairly sensitive information on that computer.

Answer:URGENT HELP NEEDED

Look up the ISP's actual phone number and call them up to ask if anything like that had actually been going on, and if that's their actual procedure or not.

I would be hesitant as well.

Well, last night I was faffing around with the user accounts, and I deleted a couple. I don't know if this is relevant or not to the problem, but here it is;

I rebooted my computer this morning afer I made changes to the start up, I know it wasn't anything to do with anything I did in there, as I have done that many many many times before.

Before it gave me the logon screen a message box popped up saying that I could not be logged on as my password and domain or something were incorrect. So I clicked ok and it took me to the normal logon screen. There is normally an account for my wife, my sister in law and before I removed them, my two lodgers. The difference was in this that there was only a user account for Administrator. So I tried to log on, but whenever I put in a password I thought it was, it wasn't.

So I tried logging on without a password, and it says I cannot access my account due to account restrictions
Is there a way to fix this?

I know this subject has been posted on here before, but no one has given sufficient answers, so if anyone knows and wants to share the solution, please help me!

Thanks guys and gals

hi All,

I have a small LAN. 2 workstations got infected with 'mmsvc32.exe' file which is a virus according to various antivirus companies. I have upto date norton antivirus but it does not detect it as a virus. I did online scanning from trendmicro that also does not detects it. Then I used 'Hijackthis' and i cleaned it. But it came back again when the machine restarted. I deleted the file from current running process, searched the files on machine and deleted and cleaned the registry also, but no use. It comes back again.

Can anyone suggest me how to get rid of this.

Thanks.

Hello,

I'm helping a friend with some computer problems. I've got some (very) basic computer skills, but technically I don't know a lot about them.
This laptop is a Toshiba Satellite. When I try to start, it gives me this:

Press HOME key to abort RPL

LAN Adapter failed the media test.
Please check the cable and reboot the system.
PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
Insert system disk in drive.
Press any key when ready....

I've been looking around for help on the internet already, but haven't really found exact instructions.
Can somebody help? Please keep in mind that I'm quite a newbie (^_^).

Thanks!

Tine.

Hey everyone, I keep getting little popups in the corner of the screen next to the time...they are signs with exclamation marks. Anyway they keep saying things like your infected with spyware, you have a trojan on your computer. I have ran AdAware and Norton and nothing came of it.
One of the screens is as follows

"Critical System Error"
"Your PC has been infected by spyware. Spyware and other unwanted software refers to programs that perform certain tasks on your computer. This can include installing Pop Up Advertising and Collecting your personal information."

If someone could help me, a new one pops up every 10 minutes or so. So far it has been 3 different types over and over.

Hi everyone,
When I open up my Internet Explorer it instantly freezes. I have to click the task manager to close it. I have scanned my computer with Norton, AdAware, Spy Sweeper and Sophos Anti-Virus. I opened up my msconfig and saw that lsasss is listed there. I unchecked the box, but nothing was fixed. After much research, I think i have the GEEKMY-A trojan aka Backdoor.Win32.Agent.kz. If anyone can help, I would appreciate them forever.

First let me start by introducing myself to this forum. I've lurked on and off for a while and now i'm a member. So hi every one i'm Ty Dye

Now to my problem. This could get very long winded because i don't want to leave out a single detail, so i apologize for my lack of brevity in advance.

Okay my computer, which was given to me is programmed to wipe away everything to a certain point when it is turned off. So i have to reinstall my web browser everytime i get on it. Which is fine but lately it's been acting up.

The default browser on my computer is Internet Explorer. I usually use the IE browser to get on Google in order to access FireFox and download it; here's the problem(s). First IE suddenly stopped letting me access Google everytime i would try it would send me to the Cannot Find Server page that says "Page cannot be displayed" You know like when your internet is cut off so i had to start using Bing to get to FireFox.

Then for some reason IE started displaying a stripped down version of the Mozilla site. My default IE is an old version and doesn't have Flash Player so i figured that was the problem but it wasn't doing that before. But i didn't fret because i could still download FireFox from the Mozilla site even in it's stripped down state, but now IE stopped letting me download FireFox from Mozilla all together.

When i attempt to download FireFox from Mozilla the same Cannot Find Server page that pops up when i try to use Googl... Read more

Can you boot your PC in safe mode? Something may be loading at the same time that causes it to crash.

Just keep hitting F8 after the BIOS loads and select safe mode.

For the record, the fans are whirring, the hard drive is making normal sounds, but there's no display and the LED is constantly on. I was thinking it's the graphic card, but switching to onboard doesn't help, neither did reseting the CMOS. Anyone? Please?

Try booting to "Enable VGA mode" from the Windows Advanced Options menu.  From there reset display properties to desired values and reboot to "Normal" mode.Use the <F8> function key during system startup to access the Windows Advanced Options Menu.  Tap the <F8> key once or twice per second as you startup the computer (or immediately after POST completes and screen flashes black prior to displaying Windows XP logo with its processing bar display). From the Windows Advanced Options menu, use the up/down arrow keys to select "Enable VGA mode" and press <Enter> key.

Hi all new here

The boss' computer has went down and this message is displayed at start up. C:\windows\system32\system missing or corrupt. Windows wont boot. I've looked around on the forum and found a few fixes but the problem is we have no recovery disk of any kind and no backup disk (ducks to avoid intense lectures). Is there anything I can do or will he need to take it to the manufacturer or place he bought it.

OS is XP SP2 if this helps but beyond that I have no other specs.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Answer:Urgent help needed please.

ok, couple of things, take the hard drive out and attach it to another pc that is the same make and model and operating system on it, you can make the drive a slave, then copy the "system" file from that pc to the slave hard drive.

thne you can just reinsert the hard drive back in the pc and it will boot up, remember it has to be the same pc.

i have done this before and it works

Hello,I'm currently using Windows Vista Home Basic. I've been using it for several months now and this issue has NEVER occurred until yesterday. I went on the internet as usual, without clicking anything or changing anything and I was on my own forum run by (invision power board), and it seems like all the images disappeared  except a few. Now I thought my forum was busted, but I asked several members to view the skin and it works perfectly fine. Even THIS forum, and many others look the same, here is a screenshot: http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/8296/screenar8.jpgSites like http://fmview.com/forums, http://pitch-side.co.uk and many others don't work. But GMAIL works, and a few others. I'm using the latest version of MOZILLA. I've tried clearing my prviate data, restarting my PC, running a virus scan and even re-installed the program. But this issue also occurs on OPERA. So does anyone know what I can do to get this fixed? I can hardly view the sites I want to look at.Thank you.

Ok, after having to turn off the computer improperly, I got the error message about the Windows\System32\Config\System file missing or corrupt.
Apparently this happens quite commonly and isn't that hard to fix.

So I put in the xp disk, attempting to use the repair feature.
No repair feature was there, I must have an OEM version or something, but I could use the recovery console.

I follow the Microsoft tech guide to fixing the problem, after doing a chkdsk which unsurprisingly found an error.

The MS guide basically had me delete the corrupt files, and then restart the computer, and after that was done I was supposed to copy the new files from another folder into the system to replace the corrupt ones.

This is where the problem lies...
once the corrupt files were deleted, the recovery console no longer lets me acces it without an administrators password.
Ok, no big deal, I try leaving the pass blank, and then every password which I would have ever used when I installed windows, to no avail.
I have heard that because the system files are corrupt, that the file storing the password could also be corrupt, so the password is never valid.

I go back to the MS help thing and look for a way to get past the password...it says that by using the bootable floppy deal with the 6 floopy disks I can get into recovery console.
(still get the invalid password error)

I'll make a long story short. I'm on Build 7100, and for some reason, all of my DL'd apps (Ones that weren't bundled with W7) were deleted, and/or they stopped working. I couldn't open anything.

I end up re-installing W7, and I have two problems:

1. I can't install Java, which would make a few apps work. It says I'm missing a DLL.
2. I install iTunes (64-bit), and it never opens.

WTF is going on?

Answer:URGENT HELP Needed.

What DLL does it say you're missing? And check the event log, application log specifically to see if that sheds any light on the itunes issue.

Hi, alnic123

Welcome.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.
Running SDFix in Safe Mode:

Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Hello Buzz1443,

I do still see malware in the logs you posted. If you still require assistance, I'd like to see the current state of your system.

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop.

What DSS will do:create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review.
DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt in your next reply.
Please attach extra.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simplyClick the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box:C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt

Click Upload.

hello there, before i continue id like to just make you all aware that i have very little technical knowledge of all this stuff, but i will do my best to explain

so i think i have a key logger on my pc as my wow account was hacked

theses are the steps i took

full norton internet security scan
full spyware doctor scan
i used CCleaner
Ad-aware Free Anti-Malware 8
Spybot Search & Destroy
MBAM (MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware)

i then restarted my PC

i then downloaded hijack this, when i clicked on do a scan and save a log file i get an error message saying that my system denied access to the host file and it wont properly create a log so i can show you all what it says. for some reason it wont let me run the file as administrator when i right click it as im using vista :s

here is the MBAM log :

I have been contacted from a client who stupidly opened an attachment that appeared to be sent from UPS parcel service. This has then installed a few different viruses on the system. Using AVG Free it detects the following

Braviax.exe and Ntos.exe which are files infected. It reports i have various trojan horses. I am accessing the machine remotely at the minute but i am visiting the site in the next hour or so.

I have run a hijackthis log which is below

Well I can't picture exactly what is going on there. I have never had a problem with formatting using the XP CD, maybe you selected a wrong option somewehre, hard to say, as far as I know that's pretty independant of what is actually on the hard drive(s) that are in the computer....

Anyhow you could try making a bootdisk win98 and putting format.com and fdisk on it and just doing it that way. Windows XP shoud automatically be able to convert it durring install if you want NTFS.

If your not sure how to make a bootdisk with win98 this is what you do...

1. Create the bootable disk:
Put a floppy disk in your drive. Go to windows explorer->right click on your floppy drive (a:\) -> select format->select the check box that says "system files"->click format->click yes.

2. Add format.com and fdisk on it
Click start->find ->select c:\ ->type in the file you need->click search
(copy it to the floppy):
When you find the file you need, click copy and then paste it onto your floppy disk.

3. Fdisk(wipe out your partition)
Keep the floppy in your drive, restart and wait for it to boot until you see the a:\ prompt. (if it doesn't boot and just boots your OS, try going into the BIOS and changing the boot order so that the floppy drive is before the hard drive).
Now type fdisk and press enter->press y and then enter->select "delete non-dos partition" (or similar, sorry I havn't done it in a wh... Read more

ok so last night i turned off my comp and everything was normal. but this morning when i wake up i turned on the com but the monitor was just black and nothing came up. i tried checking the plugs and cables and all that but everything was just as normal. the cpu was still running and the indicator lights on the cpu are on but not blinking. there were no weird sounds. everything just seem normal but the monitor displays nothing. and i couldn't turn the cpu off unless i unplug it. it seems like the monitor cannot detect the graphic settings or something but i'm a newb so i'm not sure.

could anyone help and give suggestion as in what's going on? the nearest comp shop is miles away from my place and i don't have the necessary transport to get my cpu there so i hope it can be solved at home if possible. >.<

OK I had a major Vista meltdown today.

Diskeeper Pro damaged my Vista install, causing my PC to BSOD cycle on startup.

After my initial panic I sat down and thought things through..

I ran the repair routine from my Vista Install CD, this got me as far as a black screen with a mouse pointer :-(

So I realised that my vista install was dead an buried, although the command line showed me that all my data (there is a huge amount) is all intact.

Vista wont let me install over the top of itself like XP used too. So I had to plug in another SATA drive to enable me to install a fresh copy of Vista on the 2nd disk without trashing the 1st.

Now I can boot Vista YAY!! well almost YAY!!.

I can see the original disk as D: but I cant access it.

I have tried setting the permissions on the drive, which went off and listed all my files as it set the new perms but afterwards I still could not access it (Access Denied).

I have a backstore drive standing by to copy across the 1TB of data (yes you read correctly), but I need to be able to access the data before I can back it up.

Any ideas?

Answer:Urgent Help needed pls. I am nearly there...

Hi. . .

I would run a chkdsk on drive d: at an elevated cmd ("DOS") prompt -
START | tyrp cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe | select Run as Administrator - then type the following and hit enter -

Code:
chkdsk d: /r
Then re-boot.

i just f***** up my laptop.

I'm getting several virus detections from Windows Defender and on startup its telling me some .dll file is missing. I'm pretty sure that has to do with the trojan. I think it was named gugvatja.dll or something like that.

Also, I was playing a game, went full screen, and couldn't get back to normal res. Everytime I tried to go back to the half screen or whatever its called it wouldn't do anything. I put my res higher but it still isn't right. The res I needed is like in between what happened after I went full screen and what it is now.

I'm thinking of restoring unless you guys have any better ideas. Thanks in advance for your help.

On my computer I have the primary HD on one IDE channel, and a second HD plus CDRW on the second channel.

I tried to put a cdrom on the same channel as the primary. When
I restarted the computer everything seemed fine. I logged onto my user account, the desktop came up and then it made a continuous beep until I shut it down.

I cannot get it to start back up. I have tried disconnecting everything but the primary HD and still nothing. My monitor just says "Check the signal cable."

Please help, I don't know what to do.

Question: Urgent help needed

Dear Forum Members,

My computer seems to be heavily infested with something very unpleasant.  A lot (but not all) my of software is not working, or cannot be opened (e.g. Outlook) or comes up with the message "the item referred to by this shortcut cannot be accessed you may not have the appropriate permission"  I have looked at various on-line sites to find a solution, but haven't found much that addresses this problem specifically.  The things I have tried didn't deliver the desired help.  Any ideas, anyone ???  You'll have my eternal gratitude if this can be solved without major surgery (like re-installing my Windows 7).  Would it be helpful if I upgraded to Windows 10?  Or would Windows 10 become similarly infected with this bug?

By the way - this is a general question - if I were to upgrade, would I loose all my programs and documents currently on my laptop in the process?

Thank you for reading thus far.  I'm looking forward to hearing from you!  Kind regards - AndreasO

Answer:Urgent help needed

"...Would it be helpful if I upgraded to Windows 10?"  Upgrading to Windows 10 with your current OS having problems will probably not help solve those problems, such might simply "transfer" to your new OS.
"...if I were to upgrade, would I lose all my programs and documents currently on my laptop in the process..."
If the current OS is in good working order, then an upgrade normally does not do away with installed programs -- unless you make a few wrong choices during the upgrade/install process.  Documents - toss up, many have had no problems, some have had a few problems.
** After everything is fixed within your current OS -- before upgrading, make at least one if not two full images of your OS and data partitions onto at least one if not two external HDs **

For some reason I decided to change the memory with another lying around. I had a 256mb and then added a 128mb. Then the pc worked. DOes this mean that the cause was the memory

Question: Urgent Help Needed

Well today I just installed a fresh copy of Windows XP because I had been using 64-bit and the evaluation copy ran out. This meant that my computer was shutting down about every hour or so, forcing me to either purchase 64-bit or 32-bit. I chose 32 bit and installed it and everything. So after the installation and everything, nothing seems to be working right. My soundcard isnt working properly, when I try to play music it says "There is an error with your sound device" or something like that. The internet also isnt working. The only object on the desktop is the trash can...this never happened on my previous computer when I would re-install windows. It might have been because it was just a restore disk and I guess it included everything I needed to have my computer get up and running on that disk. Well I need some help because I am totally lost on what to do now. I can get drivers and whatnot on this computer and transfer them to my other one, but would that help my soundcard or anything work? What about the internet? What do I have to do to get that up and running? Thanks for the help and sorry if this was long, but I need your help.

Answer:Urgent Help Needed

ok, so to start, you need to reconfigure the desktop to be more like win2k. To do this, right click the start bar, and select properties. Then select classic start menu. This will get you setup for now.
Then you need to get drivers. The problem you are having is that you don't have the needed/correct drivers for your machine. Start by listing out the hardare you have installed, and we can post links, or you can find it your self...

Good luck

Two problems:

1. Wireless router - I temporarily disabled the wireless ability on my router two weeks ago by accident, so immediately tried to correct it but the family computer wouldn't turn on stupid dell.. I used an ethernet cable to connect to the router and turned wireless back on. I hadn't used the wireless since then as I went on holiday a couple of hours after. Low and behold I get back and wireless isn't working, I have tried restarting the router manually, restarting the router through the control console, reconfiguring the router from factory settings. Wireless just won't work. The router is a belkin G+ router

2. My main desktop now has an exceptionally long boot time it loads up into the bios start screen and then seems to freeze and you can hear it power down ,then 5 minutes later it will continue with boot. It gets frozen between the boot screen and xp screen and after that it is perfectly fine.

Question: help needed urgent

hi,

on saturday, i have upgraded my pc to the follwoing config:

CPU: intel c2d, E6550 @ 2.33MHZ
BUS SPEED 1332MHZ
MOTHERBOARD INTEL DG33FB
RAM 2GB TRANSCEND @667MHZ
HDD SEAGATE 500GB SATA
HDD SAMSUNG 160GB PATA
SOUND, GRFX AND GIGALAN ONBOARD
400W VIP SMPS

i have a heating issue with the motherboard, the intel desktop utility software is indicating me that the I/O controller hub is at 83*c and the memory controller hub MCH is at 70*c. the motherboard is at 44*c and the cpu is at 46*c.

what i wanna know is , is this sort of temprature normal?

Answer:help needed urgent

Does sound a bit high, but it could always be a faulty temp sensor. The CPU and M/B temps sound ok though.

If it has always been that high and your system aint crashing then you should be alright (just out of intrest have you overclocked at all?)

hi guys, i really need help. I cant find the stereo mix in my pc

I previously used win xp (installed the drivers from the cd) and had the stereo mix.
now, I'm using windows 7 64 Bit and I didn't install anything from the CD because i thought it's already supported.

Now I can't find my stereo mix. I checked the disconnected and disabled devices, still can't find anything

I'm using ASUS PK5PL-AM motherboard.
Help please

I can listen to music and stuff, but I can't use my microphone

PS: i was trying to install the drivers in my win 7, unfortunately my cd doesn't support win 7 OS, and i can't find any update for the drivers..

Answer:Urgent help needed please! :(

The lack of the Stereo Mix is a major complaint of many. It's the driver that is usually the issue. Check with the sound chip vendor for a Win 7 driver. e.g. if it's RealTek then check with RealTek, if it's Sigmatel check with IDT (SigmaTel is now IDT). But, ultimately you may have to install a Win 7 sound card that does have the feature you want, several on the Dell forum that have upgraded old XP systems to Win 7, and there are no updated drivers, have had to do that.

Upon startup, I get to the logon screen..after logging in my screen just goes BLUE with no messages.. I have also attemped to startup in SAFE MODE, but then just get a black empty screen with the safe mode identifiers in the corners...
On further investigation..it really looks like all my desktop icons have disappeared, both in normal and safe mode.

Question: Urgent Help Needed

Holy ****, hey folks. Got a real problem. Today i booted up my Computer only to notice that it said my CPU was running at 1.2ghz, this is NOT right as it normally runs at 2080ghz (being an AMD XP 2800+)

What the hell is going on? Both Everest and DXDIAG are showing this, please help me.

I recently updated my BIOS but there were no errrors. Also, you may know if you've been following my threads that my CPU was overheating not that long ago could my BIOS have dropped the speed to 1.2ghz to 'cool' the PC down? My PSU is also not supplying enough power and so ordered a new one, which should arrive tommorow.

Will adding my new PSU set the CPU clock back to 2080ghz, god i hope so.

C'mon, need your help desperately.

:O :O :O

Answer:Urgent Help Needed

Hello,

It seems that your FSB has been lowered.... It should be 12.5 x 166 for an AMD Athlon XP 2800+.

Post a screenshot or a report of the Motherboard page to show the Front Side Bus Properties and Memory Bus Properties.

Perhaps your BIOS hasn't detected your CPU correctly. Try resetting your BIOS, or see if you can correct the FSB in BIOS.

Oh and...how many watts is your current PSU? If it's 400W that is more, than enough...

Whenever I try to print something from the internet (such as sheet music with Sibelius Scorch, different to simply clicking File-Print I can do that but need to press print button to get all sheet music). I have a problem, because I can't use my printer and Wireless Adapter at the same time, I think it overloads the USB or something. How can I fix this?

Answer:***URGENT*** Help Needed!!!

If this is a desktop get a wireless PCI card to free up a USB port...If it's a laptop well that's another issue.

Hi,

I need your help please. My pc all of a sudden has started to go bonkas. It opened up every contact on my msn lost and posted a link to each one. Ads have appeared in bucket loads. Kaspersky is detecting a LOT fo virus activity.

I'll do what it takes, please, just help!

My friend sent me a link (this is where it started) in msn. He actually wrote the message..so it wasn't the virus speaking. He said for me to open the link as it was something funny..when in actuality he wanted me to be a test subject to see what the link did...-.-

Yet again my computer gives me problems, even though this time the problem is MUCH MUCH worse.I turned on my computer today, logged onto my XP account, and then as the computer was starting-up I got a black screen with the following message:QuoteA problem has been detected and windoes has been shut down to prevent damage. If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:Check to make sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing the video adapters. Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode.... (goes on to explain how to go into safe mode)..... Technical information: Stop: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0xFAPP1DEC, 0xF8501938, 0x00000000) FLINT. SYS address FADD1DEC base at FED1000, datestamp 433,1870All physical memory has been deleted. After restarting, AVG notified me that my AIM had a virus. Something along the lines of AIM/UNINSTALL.EXE virus which was then removed.I am extremely worried about the aforementioned events, if anyone can help please do so.If you can contact me on AIM or MSN they are:westonsoccer2005[email protected]Thank you in advanced

Answer:Very Urgent Help Needed

I would go first to Trend Online Micro (www.trendmicro.com) and do a free online scan. Then download the latest AVG files,go to safe mode and do your scan. Delete anything that remains of the virus. If it can't be deleted at least get the name.

Hi,
I need some help please, I've recently noticed a loss in harddrive space and I have narrowed the causes down to a malware..... I found it in the programs and features list and it is called "favorit" I thought it would be as simple as uninstalling it but when I click it, CMD runs for 1 second then closes and the program doesn't install

Does anyone know how I would get rid of it???
I've tried:
-Norton Virus Scans
-Ad-aware scans
-SUPERantispyware scans .....

PLEASE HELP BECAUSE I NEED MY LAPTOP WORKING WELL URGENTLY

Thanks in advance

Sean

I have an Iomega 120GB fire wire/usb external hdd using O/S xp home + xp proffessional. It was working fine, i have 2 computers and have been able to use it on both working fine. Usually it just does plug-n-play when i plug it in with usb and brings up the folder for the drive, but today i was sorting some files on it and then i switched it off. A while later i plugged it into my computer and it brought up its usual message "Plugging hi-speed usb device into non-hi-speed usb hub click this message to fix", but this time the hard drive did not show up in my computer and locked up my computer until i took it out of the usb port. So i went to device manager and plugged it in again it now comes up as a usb device instead of a hard drive which it usually comes up as. I tried reinstalling the driver off the disk that came with it but this had no effect . Please help, thanks

Hi my pc already served me good for almost 2 years.. Back 2 weeks ago, ive been experiencing lock ups and crashes during games (wow and such) so i took measures to recover this(wiping the fan, shift my pc to an air-cond room etc etc).. but the prob still persists until it reached the max state, unable to display a thing and whenever i power on, a long beep follows up by 2 short ones (bios beeps proven something wrong with my gpu)so i assured it must be old enough already and should be replaced.. Yesterday i picked up a brand new msi 7600gs 256mb.. To my surprise, the 3 ****** beeps sound again.. Im now so confused and dont know what should i do.. Please help, thanks

the three beeps sound like a ram error, run your system with only one sick in, then take that stick out and put the other stick in,

Question: Urgent Help Needed

Hi Guys, I hope to God that you's can help.

Heres the story, my computer out of the blue has just stopped loading. I will describe what is happening:
I will turn on the computer and it will load normally past all the BIOS stuff - then it will begin a 'chkdsk c:' saying that it needs to check this 'NTFS' file for consistancy.
It is always succesful with this check and then moves onto the the classic windows xp loading screen. That works fine then, BANG, it stops loading.... I don't think it is freezing as I can still move the mouse.
If I leave it for long enough it will come up with a diologue box saying something along the lines of 'Windows needs to be activated'. And this does not allow me to get past this blue laoding screen.
I then restart the comp, and it just goes through the same process.
Other info:
I CANNOT access SAFE MODE! It takes me to a log in menu saying my name, Phil and Administrator and if I click any of them I encounter this message 'Windows needs to be activated'.
I checked my BIOS page and posted the info on another forum (which wasn't too helpful if I do say so myself) and they said nothing with out of the ordinary with temperature etc.
If this helps, I did the day before these problems started when I turned on my comp it said there was no keyboard plugged in, this was a USB keyboard so I just swapped it for a old keyboard which wored a treat.
Also I had some minor problems with my monitor rando... Read more

Answer:Urgent Help Needed

Is this a new(ish) PC, OR have you recently loaded Windows ??? IF so Windows needs to be activated via Microsoft website, or it wont work after about 28 days from loading.
Am sure someone here can help if this is not the problem.....Good luck....
