Poor colour repro using Canon Printer & Scanner

Question: Poor colour repro using Canon Printer & Scanner

I have a Canon Pixma ip5000 printer and a Lide 80 scanner. Recently my printing has not been matching on screen colours and also scanning is giving a pinky hue with browns instead of blacks and greys. Is there anything I can dfo about this? Thanks!

Preferred Solution: Poor colour repro using Canon Printer & Scanner

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Poor colour repro using Canon Printer & Scanner

it may be a callibration problem - monitors have to be setup to show correct colours or what looks ok does not print ok - or you could have a dirty printhead on the printer if this has only just happened. You could look for an updated driver for your printer.

I have been getting great photos from this printer without doing any fancy colour adjustments - they were printing pretty true to what I was seeing on the screen.I neede new cartridges so I bought cheaper compatibles from PC World. I did ask in the shop and was told that the inks were the same.First photos I have tried to print are coming out with a very green tinge. I can take ages and waste lots of paper adjusting this in the advanced printer settings - BUT - I don't want to. Why does it happen? Are the basic ink colours different and if so how can they sell them as compatible? Is there an easier solution than complicated colour adjustments?

Answer:Canon Pixma iP3000 - new cartridges - poor colour

Hi, it is possible that the Canon printers just don't 'like' compatibles, I believe some printers don't. I have only ever used Epson printers, but I always buys compatibles when I need them and I have no problems with colours. It might be that you would get better prints with original Canon cartridges.Sorry I can't be more helpfull.

My canon printer MP210 suddenly stopped printing colour today. I had set up another monitor to work with my lap top and I had fiddled with colour settings so don't know if either of those made a difference. I've 'fiddled' back with colour settings and tried the laptop alone again but the printer still doesn't print colour.

Any suggestions please ?

Thanks, Daf

Answer:Canon printer won't print colour

Hello,
will need more detail to make an assessment. What happens when you try to print color? Do you only get black ink on the page? Did you remember to remove the tape sealing the cartridge as the directions on the color cartridge indicated? Do you hear any strange sound or get any messages? Does your computer's printer driver/interface indicate you have color ink? The possibilities are many so please zap me back a reply and I will do my best to help.

Waiting for your reply!!
Regards
Kate

I attempted to scan a document on my MP470 Canon printer/scanner.
The printer/scanner would not scan.

I contacted a toll free Canon support number, was routed to iyogi, talked with a support fellow, and he said there was a problem with my computer.
He accessed my computer, made some changes, and now, I can force to printer/scannner to scan via computer commands but not via the printer/scanner control panel... and the printer/scanner now will not print!

Any comments or recommendations?

Thanks for the attention.

***FACEPALM*** I certainly hope you didn't pay these iYogi clowns to trash umm repair your computer? What "changes" did "he" make? How did "he" tell you "there was a problem with (your) computer" (what problem?) BEFORE he "accessed your computer"

>>>Any comments or recommendations<<<

Yeah, don't let 3rd party high pressure sales pitchmen err "technicians" take remote access of your computer. I didn't buy the printer from iYogi & it certainly isn't an iYogi brand... I would have kneecapped the [email protected]$$ at Canon who tried to blow me off.
Sorry to be so harsh but this type of "support" really makes my blood boil.

I have been given a canon prima mg3250 wireless printer/scanner but when I try to scan to my laptop I get a message (an internal error has occurred exiting this software) I have spoken to canon over the last week or so they even sent me to their local repairer who decided to give me a replacement, but I still get the same message they have now told me that something could be blocking the printer connecting to the network. I can only scan if I connect using a USB cable canon said this morning that they will upgrade my complaint and could get back to me in a week or so. Has anyone experienced this problem or have any constructive advice, I am not very computer technical but can get by with a little help mainly from google but not this time any help or advice would be great.

hallo,

bought canon pixma mg5250 three-in-one printer recently and sofar happy with it.

decided to scan in all my pre-digital-age photo albums. these are large clumsy things. the scanner lid is making the job awkward so i thought i would temporarily remove it - cant figure out how. it will not affect the scanner as the albums cover the glass completely so printer wont think the lid is not closed.

making a long and boring task annoying into the bargain!

any ideas?

HI,
I am running Win98 2nd ED. Have had a Canon 620 printer from the start, 3 yrs. I don't have a USB port. I purchased a Visioneer 8100 scanner and connected it to my PC with the printer, Astra 610P worked this way. Had lots of problems. Went to Visioneers' tech sight. Did all they said to do. I have downloaded all of the latest drivers and changed everything they recommended. When I turn on the scanner the printer repeatedly goes through start up until I turn it off. They work independently of each other but won't work together. If I can't figure this out, I can return the scanner for one that would be more compatible but would like to get it to work. Any ideas??

Hi all,
Hoping someone out there may be able to help with the following.
I have a Canon MG8250 all in one printer/scanner. All was fine on Windows 8, but then upgraded to 8.1 a couple of weeks ago. Just got round to using the printer and scanner and the printer wouldn't work (scanner was fine). Uninstalled MP drivers and reinstalled from Canon site and all seemed fine with the printing. Alas the scanner now would not work. Did the same, uninstalled MP Navigator Ex and reinstalled from Canon site, but no fix this time. PC says "Cannot start MP Navigator Ex" and printer says "Set PC to start scanning".
Anybody know how to fix?
Thanks,
Peter

Hi,
Managed to fix it. Deleted all evidence of printer and installed mini master set up from Canon, but scanner still didn't work, so also installed MP Navigator EX from Canon. All seems fine from PC and printer.

I was curious if I could install a x86 printer/scanner driver on a x64 system?

I had to install the x64 driver through Microsoft Update. When I installed the software that controls the scanner the software says no scanner detected.

The software works fine in XP and I still see driver support in x86 Vista/7.

Since I installed the printer driver through MS update there is no uninstaller. If I wanted to uninstall it, do I go to Device Manager and delete the printer driver from there? How likely would 32-bit drivers work a 64-bit system?

Answer:Canon MP730 Multi Function x86 x64 printer & scanner driver assistance

You can go to device manager>properties>driver tab>install driver to install it.

As far as using a 32bit driver on a 64bit system I'm pretty sure it won't work.

Have you tried using the Cannon driver installer?
They have a listing under multifunction for the Smartbase Mp730 if this is the one your referring to.

Then again it doesn't say what OS it is for.
My impression of the site is that it first has you install their down-loader which will scan your system and then provide the correct driver.

I would give this a try if you haven't already.

I have an MP830 Canon scanner.. typically when you hit the scan to PDF (duplex or otherwise) option on the unit.. Vista (x64) will then pop up the scanning interface and save the pdf to the harddrive (based on the settings that are stored in mp navigator v2.2.. which still look fine)..

I cant get this to work anymore..

It will work fine if i first launch MP Navigator..

But upon pressing the hard button on the printer, i just get the vista wait cursor for a half second.. then nothing.

I've tried reinstalling mp navigator and the printer driver to no avail..

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks

I'm thinking it may have something to do with missing registry keys for launching the app, but i forget where these are stored..

I also suddenly cant even scan from MPNavigator itself.. i get "scan failed".. my scanner driver is installed as Canon MP830 right now.. (I've turned off the printer, removed everything, registry included, then reinstalled twice now with no luck).

I am using a Lexmark Z42 printer. I put in a new photo cartridge yesterday for the first time and printed of 3 or 4 pages of photographs. The colours were very good (just as they appeared on screen) and I was very happy with them. However I removed the photo cartridge to do some other printing and today when i put it back in to print some more photos, the colour is all wrong.Skin tones are very green looking and backgrounds which should be orange are also a washed out green.I have done all the alignments and cleaned the print nozzles.A test page shows that all the colours are printing.Any suggestions?

Answer:Poor colour on photo printing

This sounds like the magenta cartridge jet is blocked. I don't know the Lexmark, but if it has integrated heads like the HP, stand the cartridge on a sheet of absorbent paper such a kitchen roll, and see if you can get the ink to start flowing.

Two things to try: If you have anti-virus software, disable it, uninstall the cannon stuff. Reboot (be sure av is still disabled), and reinstall. Then reenable av, restart for good measure.

Another suggestion from Canon, though not apparently EXACTLY your issue:

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Dell 24" LCD monitor to connect externally to my laptop (Dell as well). My graphics card on my laptop supports the monitor resolution just fine (1920x1080), however, I find the colours slightly dull. I've installed the monitor's drivers and auto adjusted all settings, but they still appear flat. I'm running Windows Vista.

Is this normal? I assumed most monitors are plug and play and don't require any tweaking.

Thanks for any info!

Most high-end monitors (24"+) do usually require a bit of tweaking, as with most TVs nowadays. See if you can find any recommended settings for your monitor in Bing or Google.

Hi all. I am John, new to the forum and unfortunately not at all computer 'minded' when it comes to a problem, so, can somebody help me please?

Our old PC runs windows 98se, and has decided to loose its colour and picture clarity. There are still some colours there, but its like even those have lost their depth. The pictures seem very 'grainy', like the pixels are far to large, and the image is difficult to see. When the machine starts up though, the windows logo 98 comes up fine, with the right colours and clarity, but after that everything alters.

The PC has a standard VGA graphics card, and when the main screen comes up with the 'icons', i get a message saying ' youmust be running 256 colour mode or higher. I am unable to alter this via the control panel, the adjuster wont work. The motherboard has the following on it;FC Canada close class B ICE5, EA00D009323332 and P8HC006604.

Please help, bearing in mind that I would sincerely appreciate simple and easy to follow instructions.

thanks very much,

John

I am thinking that you need to reinstall your video card drivers. To find out what kind of video card you have, go to control panel->system->hardware->device manager->video adapters(or something like that) then open up the thing inside the video adapter and it should tell you what your video card is. Go to the card manufacturer's website and look up your video card and download the driver for it.

I have a Canon i850 printer which I have immensely enjoyed using these past four+ years. For one thing, I've never had even one paper-jam during that time.

My understanding always has been that it is best to have separate components, so that's why I've always owned a dedicated printer. However, it appears that the present-day trend is more toward all-in-one units. Actually, I'm in the market only for a printer, but if the Canon MP600 all-in-one is technologically advanced far beyond my i850, then I would strongly considering buying one.

The MP600 has a scanner (which I don't need, although it would provide me with a back-up) and it has several modern features of convenience which my i850 doesn't have. What I would especially like to know is whether or not the MP600 produces appreciably better results with both text and photos than my i850. Also, would it be faster and cheaper in the long run than the MP600? While quality of results is more important than anything else, speed, economy, and convenience also enter into the equation.

(I was also considering the Canon PIXMA iP6700D photo printer, but from what I've read so far it appears that the MP600 all-in-one is more highly-regarded.)

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has an opinon on this matter. Thank you very much.

My Canon printer has, of late, decided to give an overall magenta tint when printing any kind of illustration regardless of quality or paper selected. It started by just affecting "photo paper" printouts, but as I say all illustation prints are now being affected. I have run the cleaning process (including deep cleaning) several times, but to no avail. It would appear that the problem is not really one of blocked jets, but more of a "flooding" problem. Any advice would be appreciated. I am currently thinking of going down the new print head route, but at 40+ a pop I would like to avoid it if possible.

Answer:Canon ip4300 - Colour "flooding"

One thing I know is that after a lot of printing the printer head can wear out. Thats the cradle that the cartridges sit in. If you are using the compatible ink cartridges you might find its them to blame. I had a similar problem a year ago and that is what mine was caused by. If you have changed the little micro chips to those cartridges just be sure you dont mix them because they are colour specific.

I have a canon printer i865 and after the inital canon cartridges had run out, i only replaced the black cartridges with non manufacturer or alternative and cheaper cartridges. Now, when i print out colour photos, it seems that the black or darker areas of the photos are faded and washed out, is this due to the replacement of the cheaper cartridges??Previously i encountered no problems when i printed colour photos with the Canon cartridgesplease advise and help!!!

Answer:CANON Colour Printing Problem

Buy a Canon Black cartridge and put it in, if your print quality returns to normal after a couple of runs, you have solved the problem. If not, try cleaning the heads, but my guess is that the 3rd party cartridge is not up to craik.

My printer gives a slight magenta colour tinge which according to a Photo -i review is the way of the printer. It is most noticable when printing a picture with a grey road surface. Whatever I do, I can't seem to remove the magenta tinge. I use Photoshop Elements. I've tried using the CNBJPRN2 profile with E2 set to same as source and enable ICM turned on. no good. The best I can get so far, is with all the profiles deleted and using P2 colour management profile Canoni965 PR2 and with ICM off. But there is still a tinge, albeit not so great. Canon say that the reason that their sample print was completely different is because their printers are set with expensive custom made ICC profiles. I would welcome advice on what profiles and settings other users use, and whether I will have to follow the costly path of custom profiles etc.

Canon say the printer is out or warranty and try turning it off for an hour to reset itself! ( Which didn't work!)

Answer:Canon ip4200 - More than one ink tank of the same colour installed

Resolved this one although I feel a little silly, I thought I would post the answer as I could not find it on any website.
I asked inkredible.co.uk, who I bought the compatible carts from if they had ever came across this and they said "Hi Tony, The only time I have come across this is when I transferred the chips the very first time I did it. The problem was that I got the chips mixed up. What your printer is saying is that you have 2 chips in the printer that come from the same cartridge. 1 will be the original cartridge. The other will be on the wrong colour compatible. Hope this helps. Regards, Nichola"

The lesson is replace one cart at a time and do not do what I did and think I may as well replace them all as they are all running out. Then I got the chips mixed up. The chip is therefore specific to an individual colour even though each colour is exactly the same shape of cartridge.

You learn something new everyday.!!!

Hey everyone, i recently bought myself a nice new Canon ip5000 and a Pantone ColorVision package (to adjust my monitor to industry standard).
The skins tones look really natural on screen, the color spyder did its job and made a new profile for that, but the colours don't quite match on the prints... What profiling do i have to use for the printer? Any ideas?

Matt.

I use Windows XP and have recently purchased a Canon Pixma iP 4200 printer. At times it seems to be printing in the wrong colours, e.g. skin tones always seem to be extremely darker than the original negative/photograph. On looking at the state of the inks the Magenta is nearly all gone whilst the rest of the colours seem to be hardly used. I have tried altering the colours as instructed in the on-screen manual, even turning the magenta right down and the other colours up, but this makes no difference. Can somebody help please. crumbleeze

Answer:Colour control on Canon Pixma iP 4200

Make sure you have the latest drivers from Canon - click hereAlso try the Easy Photo Print software as it's really handy. It's possible there is a driver issue or a prblem with the software you are using to print with.On my S630 right clicking the Printer in Control Panel, Printers and Faxes and selecting Properties gives me a Colour management tab. If you have one too, make sure it's set to Automatic.

Try using new Canon cartridges. I stopped using compatibles for my HP because, on occasion, I had similar problems caused by the cartridge apparently running out of ink early.

HiI have a Canon i550x printer which until a few weeks ago printed perfectly. Now when I print out anything the colours are very pale. The black is ok. I have run the clean nozzles and deep clean set-ups. Checked all sorts of adjustments. Installed new inks but whatever I do I cannot get the colours to print correctly. Tried different paper settings, but all to no avail. Is there a life span to these machines as I cannot see any mention of this fault in the Help Menu or Print Trouble Shooter.

Answer:Poor Print Colours on a Canon

So you have changed the color cartridges? What about the black ink cartridges? How do you know they're ok?In my experience, bad color quality was the result of low blank ink, so you might want to look into that. Also, can you make sure you're not printing Drafts. (Usually in Print setup)

I had poor colour printing and cleaned the Print Head with hot distilled water (and a dash of vodka as recommended on many sites) and soaked it over night. This improved the printing to virtually 100%.However running the Nozzle check, which prints out a set matrix boxes, the Blue and ?Red? matrix have a few of the box sides are missing, making the box incomplete ? not many though. 1. Is there a more drastic method of cleaning the print head to unblock it? 2. Is it possible it to use a syringe to open up the small number of blocked ink jet holes, they are very small holes? Thanks David

Answer:Canon Experts - Canon s630 Ink Jet Printer

A Canon -like Lexmark and HP are properly known as Bubblejets. That is because the print head consists ofmany, many fine tubes[finer than a human fair] in each of which there is a heater[would you believe]On the command from the PC the approriate heater heats up to produce a spot of steam which edjects the ink.Evewntually the odd heater fails, and then progressivly gets worse. The only remedy is head replacement.

Hi all,

I have a Canon Pixma MP460 all-in-one and mainly use the inkjet printer function.

At present it says both my cartridges are low and I need to replace them.

My question is do I need to replace the colour one if I am only going to print in black & white?

I've done some reading online and from what I can gather I probably will as this device won't just print in black & white without having both cartridges and, not only that, but they both have to be above a minimum ink level - is that right? If so, this means that I can't even leave an empty colour one in, which is somewhat annoying.

However, it is still printing at present so maybe if I stop using colour completely now then it will be ok just to replace the black & white cartridge and change the settings to always print in black & white - what do you guys think?

Thanks.
Gareth.

Hi I have a Canon MP 620 printer which works wireless with my Time Capsule. The Time Capsule is hooked up to my mac Pro, it's been working perfectly for a couple of months.

The Canon Printer is on my network so all the computers can print to it. Recently I've been noticing that my Mom's PC had slow internet so I changed the network key, hoping that would fix the issue.

but now I can't print to my Canon MP620. It says that it's inactive so I hadto setup the printer like I did months ago. I plugged the Canon MP620 directly into my Mac Pro, put the setup disk in the computer, once it installed it asks me for a network password, so I entered it.

When it was done I unplugged the printer from the Mac and placed it in another room. It then checked signal connection between my Time Capsule and the printer and it said that it was poor and unstable.

It said that it could print but it would be slow. I don't know why there's a poor connection. When I first installed the Canon Printer months ago the connection showed that it was excellent.

I can print to the printer but it's very slow. Pages take a long time to print. This is really frustrating me. Please help

Hello. I have just upgraded, or at least i thought i had, to a canon ix4000 from my ip4200. the 4200 was ace, really good prints using ony 3 colours and 2 blacks.the ix4000 uses the same cartridges, less one black, which is mainly used for printing docs, i think.i know the ix4000 uses less rex to rpint, but the difference is appalling. Plus there's no deep blacks like i gat on the ip4200.can anyone tell me why this is if using the same carts.?i have printed using the same paper, and same image, checking setting are the same in both profiles.

Answer:canon ix4000 washed out blacks + poor rez

If your using the old cartridges they may be on the way out, also the ones supplied with a new printer are not often full so may run out sooner than expexted. But from a quick search i see ix4000 as 4800 dpi x 1200 dpi and the ip4200 9600 x 2400dpi

HI I use a Canon MP560 printer and Photoshop Elements. I'm being advised that I will get better quality prints if I change the management to allow Elements to manage things rather than the printer. Going through the change within Elements, I'm presented with a list of options within "Printer Profile" - and my problem is that there are 8 options for Canon MP560, all quoting different series (eg GLs / SG2 and PR1, PR2 etc). I just wondered if anyone coyuld advise a) how do I find out what series my printer is and b) is it important anyway so could I just pick one at random??!!
Appreciate any help that anyone can give, thanks.

Answer:Canon MP560 & Photoshop Elements - colour management advice very welcome please

Well I don't use elements, but in Photoshop it's File>>Print with image open. I always have it set for Photoshop to manage colour This gives me excellent colour reproduction using the Canon MG6150. Calibration of monitor via "Datacolor Spyder 2"
In Photoshop Elements, go to File > Print, or press Ctrl + p. You may need an image open to access the colour management section.
2) Look for the Color Management section.
In earlier versions of Photoshop Elements, you must select Show More Options.
3) Look for Color Handling.
4) Change it from Printer Manages Color to Photoshop Elements Manages Color.

After trying two computers, one with vista, one with xp, same poor photo print quality. I tried two Canon programs to print from Canon Easy Photo Pint and Canon ZoomBrowser. The photos came out of the printer with too much ink on pictures.

I am using a generic glossy paper, selected glossy paper for print, and bad prints. Finally, selected next step down from glossy paper in the Easy program paper selection to high resolution paper and out came good photo prints. I have not listed all the other failed steps to the solution.

Hope this helps someone.

Answer:Solved: My Canon ip4700 poor photo quality

I imagine the reason for your dismal photos results from your choice of "generic photo paper" Your Canon printer is capable of outstanding photo prints if you use the right type of paper. The Canon papers are excellent but all to often they are very very expensive. I have gotten great results using "Ilford Gallerie Smooth Gloss Paper" purchased at Sams Club. Price was about $21 per 100 sheets 8.5x11.0. I also get good results using "Kodak Ultra Premium Photo Paper" also purchased at Sam's for about $22 for 200 sheets 4"x6".

I've had a Visioneer 9020 scanner for about 5 years. Until about a week ago it's worked without any problem. Now though, it's developed a strange fault whereby the scans (and previews) appear either yellow, green or any other colour of the rainbow (seems totally random). You can still see the content of the document or photo but with an incredibly strong colour cast. It's an intermittent fault, as sometimes the scanner works perfectly. I have uninstalled the scanner driver and Paperport software and re-installed according to instructions on the Visioneer site. This seemed to fix it temporarily, but now the problem has reappeared. If I reboot then this usually fixes it for a short while. Any help much appreciated.Win XP Home1.5 GB RAM2.66 GHz250GB HDSteve

All images captured by my 8-year-old scanner have suddenly, for the first time, become far too deeply coloured (and wasting ink!).Is this a cue for a new scanner? It's as if its light's become dim. It's always produced a slight blue cast in some modes, but the black's much too heavy now (as is red), and it can't seem to 'see' yellow. It happens in both copying and scanning to an application (the only scanner facilities I use), and whatever its colour scanning settings (for destination/original or enhanced copy)I'm sure it's not my printer, or screen settings, and I can't have changed any colour balance settings for the scanner (there aren't any). Scan previews on screen look like the printouts; too dark. All non-scanned images (or those scanned before this recent problem) are correct in colour (apart from the above-mentioned blue cast) both on screen and printed. Scanner is Epson Perfection 1240U.Win 98SE, printer HP Deskjet 970Cxi.The Epson software writers were somehow unable to make this model copy to non-Epson printers, necessitating a 3rd-party patch; but I'd be surprised if it's anything corrupted in the patch - I think copying just wouldn't work at all.I wondered if the scanning software (Epson Smart Panel & Twain) had got corrupted, but I would have thought that would have more of an all-or-nothing result?Apart from the current problem I'm still pleased with the quality of the scanned images, and would rather fix it than scrap it. Any ideas?

Hi

can anyone give me some advice please?

I’ve got a problem with my printer as soon as it runs out of one colour it will not print anymore, this is fine however all I want to do these days is print black ink only, im not interested in colour printing or photo printing.

Initially I bought the printer for photos colour etc and I do like the printer and it prints good quality documents and quite fast, but I only need black and white for 99% of my needs.

Its there a way to configure it to use the black cartridge only and to ignore the other cartridges?

I have changed the setting in the printer software to print greyscale only but, it’s still the same, as soon as one colour goes the printer fails to print and tells me to change colour cartridges.

I would be happy if the only cartridge I ever have to change is the black one.

Im working with Vista.

Ive searched the net to try and find a solution but getting nowhere, Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Got a bit of a strange problem here. Got a brand new laptop and printer, and suddenly I can't get a decent photograph print.

The printer is highly recommended, it's a Canon Pixma iP4700 which has had excellent reviews. But everything I print on it has no punch or sparkle, it's almost as if it has a grey film over it, a bit like I'm looking at my photo with cataracts! I printed the same photo on my dad's (much older) Epson printer and got a brilliant result.

I don't know if the problem is the printer, though, as he has Windows Vista and I have Windows 7 and have been using Google Picasa to import my photos. I am wondering if there is a setting on there that is colour correcting my photos either on import or on their way to the printer, as I am not used to Windows 7 yet.

Is there anyone here who can shed a bit of light on the problem? I really don't want to take the printer back if it's something I am doing with Windows that can be easily changed.

Thank you for your help!

Question: Canon Scanner

Hi All - upgraded to an Intel i5 2400 CPU with ASRock P67 PRO motherboard. Everything went well, Windows found everything and installed the drivers fine apart from one.

In the System there is a Canon LIDE scanner which shows as a CanoScan with the yellow exclamation mark. Also Devices and Printers it shows up but with the yellow exclamation mark. Have reinstalled the supplied 64bit Canon software for it but still no go. It is USB powered so swapped around the USB cable but still a no go area. Unplugging and reconnecting the scanner makes no difference. I have no idea where Canon places the drivers for this when the set up program installs.

Going online Windows finds the driver software but reports back that it has encountered an error while attempting to install it. The software it is tryng to install is CanoScan LiDE 600F.

Does anyone have any ideas why this thing should suddenly stop working. Everything else is fine. Any input appreciated as I'm loosing more hair over this.

I got a "Canon Lide 200" scanner for 100 bucks at Stapples. It says 4800x 4800 on the box...with a Z-lid thing...there was also an HP scanner for the 30 bucks more. Now I'm wondering if I should return the Cannon for the HP before I open it.

Canon:
http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=&webid=762419&affixedcode=WW

HP:
http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=&webid=759193&affixedcode=WW

For some reason I thought Cannon would be better quality, the box touted it could scan 'color 8x11 in 14 sec.' which sounded really fast so I picked the Cannon. Then I looked up these profiles and noticed the HP sais it can scan three 4x6 photo's at once!
And it says "Get realistic scans of 3-D items, capturing more detail and depth" The sales guy mentioned something about flatbed only getting whats directly on the glass so I guess this is better then that...?

Anyway, wondering if HP's are slower than Canon? Like is that Cannon '14sec' really fast or just a creative bullet point? I have tons of old photos to scan so that 3 pic at once with the HP sounds so convenient but it wouldn't be if it's slower.

I think I also had a shitty HP printer at one point which made me distrust the brand.

Also...do you have to use the software provided? Can you use third party software on my Canon to scan multiple photos at once?

Thanks for any feedback.

Rob from Canada.

Trying to scan to file colour negs with Epson Perfection 1650 Photo scanner. On Auto it recognises the negs and (eventually - very slowly)scans the strip of 4. As I only want one of the strip I've tried to use the manual mode, hoping to select the single neg from the preview. However, it insists the document is a colour photo and I can't see any way to persuade it otherwise. Is there a way or does it not support colour negs in manual mode?I'm using XP with SP1.

Answer:Epson Perfn1650 Photo scanner -colour neg problem

More problems. I'm laboriously using auto mode and now that is playing up. It recognise some neg strips as colour negatives but every third one it see as a colour positive. If I switch off, disconnect the power then remove and replace the TPU connector when switching back on it correctly sees the strip as a clour negative.Frustrating is the politest word that comes to mind.

In the computer there is 3,5 jack... so what would be your ideas how to connect these together?

Answer:Connect hi-fi repro boxes with PC?

hi

you need a soldering iron some solder, a stereo 3.5mm jack plug and then you connect the 2 reds to 2 points on the jack and the 2 blacks to 1 point on the jack....problem is, is the output on the computer gonna have enough power to power the speakers, chances are it wont...you need to have powered speakers,,, unless you put the output through an amplifier, that would work...but its a lot of messing about when PC speakers can be bought for as little as a tenner.

The gist is, I am trying to use a Canonscan 2710 negative scanner on my

The P.C.is a new one. The scanner was fine with my old machine running
on Win.98.
The scanner uses a scsi. an, Adaptec AIC-7850.
The canon software will load and the interface will appear on screen but
then I get a message,"can`t find scsi".
I use Photoshop for my image editing and if I try importing the scanner into
this, the same message appears.
I have tried the canon U.K. website for new drivers but the remedy suggested
didn`t work. I tried the Adaptec people and their remedy didn`t work.
I tried the search-engine Google and there are a lot of letters and comments
on the same theme. Most of these comments are actually rather scathing about Canon. (yes, there is a separate site for this problem.)
I now have a scanner sitting here for which I paid around 400 4 yrs. ago

Hi. I have upgraded to sp2 and now found that my scanner does not work. Says that certain files are missing. Also that I need a new Codec file?Any ideas. The system worked fine under sp1ThanksJim R

Answer:XP and a canon 3000f scanner.

Have you checked the scanner out from Device Manager, including that Enable this Device is enabled from its Properties>General tab?Try removing the scanner and then rebooting. The Add New Hardware wizard should appear and offer the opportunity for you to enter the make and model number of your scanner; it will then install the drivers. If it worked under SP1 then the drivers should still be available under SP2 which also includes SP1.

Hi, my canon scanner comes with a program that automatically converts the scanned documents into pdf format. Recently I got an HP 3 in one printer-scanner and I'm just wondering if there's a way I can use the canon program to convert the documents scanned by the HP scanner.

Thx.

Answer:Canon scanner software

Not sure that would work, you could always scan then print to pdf with the program below, I use and think it's great.

I have a CanoScan D1250U2. I am trying to re-install it after having my faulty hard drive replaced. When I plug it in to USB port the system does not recognise it as new hardware. I have tried using install new hardware wizard which just asks me if I have disk and then instructs me to insert disk and select the correct drive, after which I get the same box back. I have tried going to Device Manager but there is no scanner shown in Other Devices and Imaging Device is not there. Canon suggested deleting the USB and clicking refresh but I don't know how to do this. The scanner installed easily when I first did it and gain last month on a lap top. I have tried downoading driver but haven't a clue what to do then. Please help

Answer:Cannot re-install Canon scanner

You need to unplug the scanner, run the software off the CD then plug in the scanner when prompted. Apologies if you've already done this.

A client wants to purchase a document scanner for archiving stacks of paper documents. The preferred price range is $400-$700. It needs to be relatively quick, scan directly to PDF and handle duplexing. Reliable tech support is, as always, a consideration.

I have narrowed it down to the Canon DR 2080C and the Fujitsu ScanSnap fi-5110EOX scanners.

The big problem with the Fujitsu is that it uses proprietary drivers and is not TWAIN or ISIS compatible. That scares me. It does come with a full version of Adobe Acrobat, which is worth almost the price of the scanner in itself.

The Canon is a little faster, but it is more expensive and, frankly, I have had bad luck with Canon products and tech support. This was years ago, though. It is, however, TWAIN and ISIS compatible.

I suppose that if the proprietary Fujitsu driver does everything they need to do, it's not that big a deal.

What do you guys think? Does one of these jump out at you? Do you have another good solution I should consider?

Here's a link to an Epinions comparison of the two:

Thank you!

Hello I have a Canoscan d1250u2f which worked on XP. I wanted to put it on Vista. I visited the download site on Canon and downloaded "scan gear drivers".Attaching the scanner I chose these drivers on the 'looking for drivers' messages from the downloaded file when i plugged in the Scanner usb and they have been found and are classed as up to date in the 'device driver tree'When i press scan on the device a " windows image acqusition service" title bar appears with " There is no application registered for this event"I have not installed the original discs as these were for XP. What does this mean and is there a solution, any ideas greatly appreciated as I have just bought a new printer without a scanner built in! thankyou
