Hi, firstly please bear with me as i'm new to this. I'm trying to setup the email on our virtual server through cpanal and using Thunderbird 3 (although i did try it with Outlook 2007 and the same results.)

Using the given Incoming and Outgoing mail server info given ( and the mail server username, I get a failed to find error (using both POP3 and IMAP). If I change that too the SSL settings for Incoming / Outgoing (, it works and autofinds Connection Security as STARTTLS and finds the ports too. With this I can send emails fine, but I am not getting incoming emails, and I don't know enough about it too see what I'm doing incorrect, any help would be great, thanks.

I posted this on yahoo answers first, but the only response I got was "restart your outloook and try later." *facepalm* Glad to have found a place more dedicated to such problems.

Can receive email in outlook but cant send email has been like this for months now...I called my ISP and they didnt have an answer for it...Im running xp however I dont have the Xp disc to re install windows...its an older desktop computer I bought off of someone...Its a Dell PIII.

Im not to worried about not being able to send email on the XP puter because I have another desktop where the email works however its running on windows 2000.

Ive heard some people have problems with outlook using XP though.

you have this log thread open at present and it might be a good idea to await a respose on there before you start to make any changes; it is most possible that an infection has gotten TO your e mail client to the information yu have provided ON that log thread your computer is used by others for P2P file sharing? one OF the problems WITH file sharing programs is what the 'program ' comes baggaged with that can and will infect the computer

Don't know where to go to check pop settings. Tried settings under gear icon but doesn't show email settings such outgoing mail settings and incoming settings etc.

Hello - I have a problem with sending email. I have an XP SP2 machine with Symantec Client Firewall and I use Outlook 2000 and Cox as my ISP. I have verified the SMTP and POP3 settings for Outlook and they're OK. I can receive email but can't send it. I do get a "Service Monitor Alert" from Symantec that says, "Symantec Client Firewall has detected one or more services are disabled and should be restarted. Please restart the system to restore the failed services listed below: Symantec Common Client HTTP Proxy." I think it might be an issue with the firewall but am not sure. Can anyone give me any suggestions on what to look for? Thank you - TechGirlAZ

First off, thank you so much for this great site. It's perfect for dummies who have questions to have "The Pros" at hand to help, thank you thank you thank you!! Here's my problem:
I logged on to the internet and my connection was normal; I also opened Outlook Express 6 to check my email and was able to receive email, but couldn't SEND; it would freeze and when I'd close the box, a message: PROGRAM IS NOT RESPONDING appeared. I never got an error report like it tried to send it, it just froze. I deduced that I needed more disk space, because I only had 36% free (I'm using XP). I rebooted, I deleted 100 document files, 30 photos, did a disk cleanup, defrag, unplugged my cable modem, called my ISP (Charter) and McAfee. Since I could send and receive email via web-based email Charter said it wasn't their fault. I uninstalled my McAfee Firewall and Virus Scan and tried to send an email, but still froze, so McAfee they said it wasn't their fault.
Do you think my Outlook Express is corrupt and can I just download a new version? What will I lose, other than my address book (which I saved today under another file) and currently saved documents in my INBOX? I'd rather not reinstall OE if I can help it, as I have many many files saved in many folders I've created. Maybe I should throw some of them out too???

I recently upgraded to Office 2003 to be able to sync with my new PDA. However, although I can log on using MS Internet Explorer, and receive incoming Email, I can't send either in OUTLOOK or OUTLOOK EXPRESS. I just get the error message 0x800CCC0F. this is driving me mad. Can anyone help??

I have an old desktop that I use occasionally for sending email. The other day I get this dialog box that comes up titled Window Security. It tells me my email address I am using and asks me to verify my user name and password, and correct for my email
server. I have never had this box pop up before so I can not put in a user name/password. I know the system is old but still would like to solve this problem.

Here is one to ponder, if I get an answer I will be very impressed. eMail address using BT servers, incoming and outgoing.
I know BT are having huge amounts of hassle at present and have reset password as requested.
Main computer is iMac using Mac Mail, updated to Snow Leopard after BT blamed Mac.
2nd device W7 laptop using LiveMail - BT now blame Windows for the issues.
As title says I can receive but not send, keeps rejecting password.
Changed outgoing serverto the one provided by my website host - yippee I can send.
Ooops no I cant, well not reliably and not if both iMac and laptop are online.
Any (sensible) suggestions gratefully appreciated.

If you have the smtp settings absolutely correct including ports and authentication, ssl requirements then it may well be a problem at BT's end with one of their servers and they are failing to acknowledge it. Assume that you could send before. Probably clear up on its own.

No mail is dropping into my inbox, I have checked by sending myself email from other email accounts and nothing is coming in, I can send as normal.I work in Outlook, Orange is my ISP.This has only happened in the last few hours.Any ideas please.Rodz

Check the email settings are all correct. You might of simply changed some simple settings. Other things are to check on Orange's site to see if the spam filter is blocking more than it should.

I have two email addresses - my main account and one sub-account (BTYahooBB). Outlook Express can send and receive on the main account without problem, but can only send (no receive) on the sub-account.BTYahoo tell me that my mail is waiting in the inbox of the sub-account, but I can't download it. I have btinternet broadband, OS is Vista; I use Windows Mail. All this unchanged for 6 years or so until my problem began suddenly a few days ago: I can't send or receive email tho I can connect to internet so can use webmail. Get error815 and computer looks for a dial-up connection (and doesn't find one because there has never ben a dial-up on this PC. ) BT has discovered a Tiscali account on the system - but tho this would have been a dial-up I had that account only on an earlier system , about 10years ago , or longer . Any suggestions, please to solve my problem?

Likely because your trying to use your home isps out going stmp server, when on a different network, which isn't gonna work. You either need to use your ISP's webmail, or find out the proper smtp server for what ever network your on. This assuming your still at the motel.

Can receive email fine but, when attempting to send email using OE, get the following error:

Netscape is also able to receive but unable to send email.

Fix attempts:

Verified mail server address
Tried another server address for another account I have access to (different ISP)
Tried using SSL
Used Telnet and was able to successfully connect to port 25
Specified DNS server instead of allowing it to be assigned
Uninstalled and reinstalled Dial Up Networking
Uninstalled modem and DUN, rebooted and reinstalled them
Pounded my head on the desk a couple times.

I had the same problem initially when I set up my OE e-mail.
I had to define as incoming pop3 with smtp-server outgoing.
I was still periodically getting that message when composing and sending and I found this article.
I consequently changed check for new messages to 2 minutes and have not had an occurrence since.
Heres the article. It may give you a lead.
Usually this is due to the pop-before-relay software on the server. "What is the pop-before-relay software?" You may be asking. Pop-Before-Relay validates Pop3 Email users
before relaying email traffic through the server.
The process validates email users when they log on and check their email. It remembers each user for fifteen minutes, before it needs to be validated again.
If you see a message similar to this:

The connection to the server has failed. account: '', Server:
'', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

You may need to re-validate your account by logging on and receiving your email again. Since you probably saw this message because you were trying to send an email,
the following process in Outlook Express should re-validate your account.
In Outlook Express:
1. Click on the little tab on the edge of the Send and Receive button on the menubar of Outlook Express.
2. Choose "Receive All"
3. This will log on to the server and re-validate you as a user.

Hi all,I thought I'd sorted my problems with email.XP Sp3, ISP Virgin, Mail collector Incredimail.I know I've had at least 7 emails sent today, and I've "asked" Incredimail to collect them to no avail. I've checked the Virgin mailbox and there's nothing there. (They may be held by Incredimail.) And they may not. Can anyone help please?

Have you got the details that are needed to connect to you ISP's mail server etc, i.e. incoming server, outgoing server, username, password, anyone of these entered incorrectly can cause mail not to get through, it does sound like a wrong setting etc that is causing the emails not to come through. Having not used Incredimail (I use Outlook 2007) I don't know the instructions for altering them in Incredimail.

I set up a frends laptop using Outlook Express. First time I tried emailing all was well. He took thhe computer home and could receive but not send. Both incoming and outgoing SMTP are correct. I tried everything I knew to do.

A couple of days later I decide to download Thunderbird. It too worked the very first time used then the identical thing happened - I can receive but not send. I am totally stumped!

Not sure if you verify this already, but this is the common issue when a user can receive but not send emails.

Make sure 'My Server Requires Authentication' option is checked located at the Server tab when you:
Open OE, Tools, Accounts, Mail Tab, Highlight / Select the account and Click on Properties.

You might want to try contacting your Internet provider first and see what they say. When did this start happening?

If they can't help you, I would print out your address book, Than go under Tools/Accounts, and DELETE the account that you are having trouble with receiving mail. Than close OE, wait several seconds and follow the New Account Wizard to recreate the account. (If this is your only account by default, you'll go through the Wizard again anyway.) The good news is that your address book contacts should still be there, but with a print out, the worst case, is that you'll have to do your address book contacts over again. I had this issue years ago, (without the error message) but where I wasn't getting any mail, and recreating the account solved the problem.

Other options: Download and install Mozilla's Thunderbird E-mail program, and it will automatically import all of your contacts and settings from OE. Switch to a free web-based e-mail service, Yahoo Mail now has unlimited storage, great spam protection, automatic virus scanning and cleaning. Gmail from Google is also very good. Even Hotmail might help. There are also ways that you can set up each of these programs so that your Contacts can carry over. Specifics depend on the type of program you choose.

I have several email accounts setup in my OE account, and all of them send and receive fine, except my email account for my domain. With that account, I can receive email, but not send. And it hasn't always been this way, it just started doing this a few weeks ago. The email just sits in my outbox for a while, then I get an error message that says "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: '*********.net', Server: '*********.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F". I'm not sure what could be the problem.

This error is normally caused by your anti-virus software, particularly Norton. If you are using Norton, open it, go to Options, then Email, and untick "scan outgoing mail", reboot, test it, retick and test again
If you are using something other than Norton, try disabling it and testing to see if its responsible

HiI noticed no email received today, which is unusual, as I usually get a few and lots of junk!So I sent an email to myself (I have 3 accounts) and when it didnt receive I tried it again from another account. Nothing happening. Also I signed up for a newsletter today and was to receive an email straight away, and so far that hasnt come either.The 2 messages I sent are not in my outbox, and they're not in the sent folder. Theres no trace of them at all!I am using Vista Home Premium, Windows Mail. My provider is a local wireless company, have had no issues with them so far. Okay here's the deal I use thunderbird as my email app. I have had it for over a year now, been doing it's job just great! Until I moved. I moved closer to college and we have a free internet thing in our apartment ran by "RoadRunner" the local cable line provider.

I am at the end of my rope since now all I can do it receive emails and can no longer compose them. please help!

When I open Mail Washer I get a message, "The POP3 server does not appear to conform to the POP3 protocol. The connection was intentionally closed by the server before the session was completed."When I open OE and click Send/Receive it connects, authorizes, checks, and says "No New Messages".The ISP is configured for Webmail so we can check email away from home. When I go there I get an error message. I tried Telnet and IE says it can't open the page.I disconnected my firewall, tried all of the above and got the same results. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Mail Washer and OE. Same results. My ISP says the problem must be in my setup because POP3 is working for everybody else.What setup? My username and password don't trip any alarms. What else is there to my setup?I hate to think how much email has piled up on the server.

All of a sudden, I can't send or receive email via OE Vista. I can send or receive email via Xfinity.

Hi, I know this post is very similar to some other ones in this category. I read them all and even tried 2 suggestions but they didn't help. I haven't been able to send or receive email (except one time this afternoon it worked...?? don't ask me how) through Outlook Express. Here are the messages that would pop up when the attempt failed:

For approx the last 6 years my OS has been Vista and I use Windows Mail . Since March 2011 my ISP has been BTinternet. Everything was fine until about 10 days ago when suddenly I could not send or receive email.

I have a broadband account (with BTinternet); I have no dial-up accounts. My system is set to “never dial a connection”. But now, when I click Send/Receive my computer attempts to dial a connection using WAN PPPOE (and fails, of course.)

Attempts to solve this by using Btinternet’s “Broadband desktop help” get nowhere as that finds my broadband connection and says it is fine, but it also finds a dial-up connection to a Tiscali account that I had at least 15 years ago, long before I bought my present system. There is no dial-up account on my present system. The Bt desktop help suggests contacting Tiscali to deal with this but that is impossible because I no longer recall my password from 15 years ago and the alternative method of logging-in at Tiscali asks for the server I used when I signed up for that account – I did not have a server at the time; I “joined” by using a disk that connected me to Tiscali.

Can you suggest a solution to my problem, please?
I’m doing all my emailing via Webmail at the moment because I can still connect to the Internet. But that is not long-term solution and it is driving me mad!

Why can't I receive email from one day to the next with ms outlook.
I have not changed any configuration, nor has the server changed anything since I am able to receive if I configure my email account on another computer?

bit of troubleshooting advice: try checking for any updates/changes, internet/network connection - isp side or yours, firewall settings, and for the sake of it (it happens) retype your password and recheck that the POP3/IMAP/... settings are correct etc....

More times than none the problem is at the mail server.
Go to the Cox website and send from your email account that they have online. If they dont have one you may have to wait. This happens to everyone.

Open an account with Gmail and send from there You will have to check if for responses however or you can tell them to answer to your Cox account.

Answer:Unable to send/receive email.

The Server "local host" and the port number suggests that you're using an antivirus program to scan email before downloading.Sometimes the AV program doesn't work properly in handling email.Close OE. Then try disabling email protection. Open OE to see if it works. Then re-enable email protection.If not, disable AV email protection again, and re-enter your account settings. Try sending email. Then re-enable AV.

I am in India for a work trip. First day the wifi in my hotel worked fine. Next day Outlook (which I use for work) suddenly stopped sending emails but still receives them, and my Windows Live Mail works fine, as does internet. The emails stay in the outbox. I got an error message that took me here'

You are trying to click "tools" in order to get to the "options." However, if the "tools" button won't work, there is a shortcut key to bring up options, you can try that.

Ctrl+Shift+O, opens the 'options' dialog.

A friend is switching to Tiscali dial-up from a different one operated by the local PC shop. [I believe that local =better , but not in this case].All OK we thought ? can send email; can connect to internet ? BUT cannot receive email. Keep getting a ?LOGON? box, but endless re-entering there of password has no effect.This is the error message: " There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. I recently switched from using Outlook Express to Outlook. I imported all folders and current emails that were in Outlook Express. However I don't receive any new emails. Everytime I want new email from my Optonline account I have to go to Tools/Send/Receive and it will then receive all new emails from the Optonline account.

What am I doing wrong? What do I need to change in order to get the new emails to Outlook automatically when I open Outlook?

I am running Vista / MS office 2007. A few months ago I purchased Fix It Utilities 10 / Driver Genius Professional. It may not be related but I now have a problem with my email. The send / receive status is always showing 25% or 33% with a log of email's being sent and receive plus occasionally RSS Feeds completed. All my emails get sent immediately according to the outbox and I do receive. Recipients often complain of receiving the same email 20 to 30 times. Can you help resolve this please?Regards

I am using outlook 2010 with an exchange server and working online. I would like to be able to send a receive at regular interval. I have checked the "Schedule an automatic send/receive every 30 minutes" box and still doesn't work. Thinking my outlook is damaged I asked a few more people in my office to do the same and they have the same problem. Anyone else run into this and if so have you found a solution?

I'm trying to sort out my brothers Laptop which was working fine up to Fri 13th June.
He can send and receive email but cannot access the web. It is Windows Vista and Norton 360 - No new programs have been downloaded and no virus's that seem detectable.
A colleague talked me through Pinging a site, which it could do ok, but windows explorer just keeps coming back with web page unavailable but confirms that the wi-fi connection is fine.

problems like this can sometimes be caused by malware, you say you cant find any viruses but just to be sure pop over to the security and the web section and take a read, as email doesnt rely on the HTTP protocol to recieve mail, it could be something along those lines.

I have had the odd case of no web at home yet MSN messenger works fine, i reboot my router and modem all is well, sometimes its the ISP that's at fault, try another PC if you can on the same connection.

Using Outlook (not Express). Can send e-mail Ok, but cannot receive - instead get an error message. All account settings are correct for my ISP. Using Windows XP and Office 2003 SP1.

Issue started after I added a new hard drive, then made the new drive the boot drive and the other one the slave. Now, I get this email problem and others:
- Windows Installer box pops up when I open any Office 2003 programs. Says "preparing install..." then gives a message that I should run Setup and then select Repair.

- tried removing Office with add/remove programs and after the Windows installer box pops up with "preparing to remove...", this message appears "This patch package could not be opened..."

- tried to reinstall Office from disc and it would not work - same errors as above.

- tried to delete a separate file and is said the recycle bin was corrupted

Can someone please help?

Webmail works fine, old Email account under same domain works fine on this PC, just not new or existing account on this PC or any PC. Checked settings, software, tried alternative configs (different Pop servers, the IP instead of the name, etc). Uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook, deleted and recreated the Pop account both in Outlook and on the hosting company, still nothing. Checked settings a hundred times of course. The environment is a Windows 2003 Small business Server, the clients are all Win XP Pro running DHCP with DNS and DHCP running on the server. I?ve run all the Windows updates & virus protection scans. No other known problems exist. Seems like a DNS problem or something?

This started a week or so ago. Nothing had been changed but I started getting an error when trying to send emails from Outlook. The error I get is as follows:

Task ' - Sending and receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or internet service provider (ISP).

I called AT&T and they went over my settings which I have checked and rechecked and that I could send email when logged in on the webmail, which I can, and then wanted to send me to a pay department for dealing with outlook.

When I've verified the settings, I've clicked the 'test account settings' button and it sometimes fails but other times the test completes correctly, but then if I try and send an actual email, I get the error message again.

Have set up Windows Live on a new computer. Details of e-mail account have been copied across but now can only send emails - no new emails arriving on new machine. I am trying to send email, but I keep getting a server time out. I can receive email just fine. I have tried it using the latest OE and the latest Thunderbird and get the same response. Also, I am running XP SP2.

I can send a one word email just fine. Anything over about 10 characters won't send. My network guy where the server is says it is a time out, but he says the timeout on the server end is 5 minutes.

I have tried with a different account from my machine, and its a no-go. I have tried from other email accounts on other computers and it works fine, so it must be my machine.

Any ideas out there? I'm stumped.

Outlook stopped receiving email on 30 Apr. I tried to uninstall MS Office as suggested by HP, but get an error: Can't access network location of %APPDATA%.

I am using OE. For the past 2 days when I attempt to download my email I get the following error message:

I know this has been covered in some detail but though following the settings i.e. incoming mail and outgoing as the problem still remains.I am able to send and receive with talktalk my onetel email address without problem.I have tried this with 4 talk talk email addresses by activating them with an email being sent to that address but without success.The sent emails go straight to me sent folder and stay there.

Have you checked from Outlook Express (I presume you use it) Accounts>highlight each account>Properties>Connection tab that you are using TalkTalk (or LAN) to Send and Receive e-mails?Another point is that if you receive an e-mail that you wish to Forward, you may have to use the message panel's drop down menu to display your TT e-mail address.

Hello. in Windows live, in the inbox, the "Date" and "Sent" date is almost always the same, even if the mail was written hours or days before receipt of the message. Why does the inbox not show the date that the mail was sent from the senders machine ?? They are sometimes a few seconds differant, I presume this may be something to that happens if download takes a longer time.

Please help. I have tried everything I can think of. I have a new workstation (hp xw4400) w/ Windows XP on it for an employee and when trying to set up his email account through Express or Outlook 2007 it will not send or receive email. I get the Server has unexpectedly terminated the connection......Error 0x800CCCOF message. I have tried everything I can think of. I loaded my info and can't get mine to work either. We are on a POP server and the ISP provider says the email makes it to the server, it is just not making it to the computer. His email works fine on his old computer (he is still using it due to this crap). There is no virus protection on it yet and the firewall is not on. I have tried reloading everything several times. I tried to reinstall XP but when I boot from the disc it starts to install then says it can't find a hard drive (sorry forgot the exact error) but the hard drive is there and I am able to get to the internet and connect to our server without problem. Does anyone have any idea where I can go from here besides crazy. Thank you.

At first all was ok with my personal Freeserve email accounts, but now I can't send on any of them. My wife has family in Germany, which is where she is from. We have been trying to send them emails as well as them attempting to send us emails. The problem is neither side is receiving the emails. On our side we keep getting an error message and that it's undeliverable due to a block.
We have tried numerous emails for family and friends over there to no avail. The only thing all of the emails have in common over there is they are all ".de" addresses.
Is there some reason why .de and .com can not send and Receive from each other?

A friend bought a cheap computer & decided on Juno for email & web surfing. I downloaded & installed Juno. We went through everything required, (Name, email name, credit card no., etc), and wrote messages for email. The messages are still in the Outbox & cannot be sent. He also cannot receive email that I tried to send him. He can get on the web. Now the ads are gone, so I guess he is on the pay type instead of free. I have had Juno for about 8 years, and have put it on 3 computers with no problems. I have not found anything on support at Juno web site that comes close to this problem. Also do not know of phone no. to call for help.

I was/am a Bellsouth DSL customer, recently taken over by AT&T. AT&T made an upgrade to our homepage/email a while back. I finally actually completed my end of the changeover/upgrade last week (even though we had been notified/offered it awhile ago). Since the night I did it, I am not receiving my email into my Outlook XP (2002) client. I am still sending just fine, and when I connect for a send/receive it goes through the steps of receiving and then says "receive complete" even though nothing came into my inbox. If I view my email through the website, it is all there, as testament that it was not successfully downloaded (and thus deleted from the server). I do not get an error message.
I tried troubleshooting it a bit last night and on the Bellsouth/AT&T DSL support site there is a set of instructions about this. It entails changing the Outlook settings (changing pop and smtp servers and a couple of other settings). I did this, and it does not help. In fact, after changing the settings, I actually get error messages about not being able to login to my email servers.
The help site also references a patch for Outlook and provides a link to microsofts download site, but when I get there, and choose my version of outlook, there is no new patch there.
Not sure if it matters or helps, but the AT&T mail is associated with Yahoo and I previously had a Yahoo account (for Groups, not email). When I did the "upgrade" it made me setup a new account.... Read more

I use MS Office XP. Within this software I use Outlook for my email. I receive my email through Optonline on Line. In the past I was able to open my Outlook in box, click on the Send/Receive button and all my eamil stored at Optonline would transfere to Outlook. When I try to do this now I receive a message that reads "Task' Sending and Receiving' reported error (08004210A0) : The operation timed out waiting for a responce from the receiving (POP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service proviver.

I spoke with Optonline tech support and they said my setup in Outlook was correct and perhaps I should reintall the Microsoft Office XP Professional software or run the repair software in the XP Office software. I ran the repair/fix software but this did not help.

Can anyone offer a suggestion. If I do reinsatll the Office software will I loose all my contacts. If I do have to reintall Offcie is there a way I can save my contacts, I must have over one hundred names and other information?

You can export your contacts to a .pst file for re-importing once you reinstall office. Go to your contacts and from the file menu, choose import/export. There will be a few steps to follow, but should be self explanatory. Just remember what you name the file and where it saves to on your computer. Once you reinstall office, go back to the contacts section, and choose import/export again from the file menu. Then import your address book back in.

Hi folks,

I can receive Email but when I try to send it I am asked for my password which I put in but then it is requested again and again in an endless loop with pauses in between each request while it goes and does something.

I use the same password to log in at the start of the session and log in okay.

I am trying to set up Thunderbird version

I am using Firefox Version

The op sys is XP Pro with SP2

I have no Anti Virus running

I have added Thunderbird to the Exceptions in XPs' Firewall

I have deleted everything that has to do with Norton Anti Virus (nothing in the reg)

I have removed the program, went back to an earlier Restore point and reinstalled it with no luck.

The ISP is DSL Extreme and I have gone through the settings with 3 techs who say everything is set correctly.

If I should be using another forum please let me know.

Any help will really be appreciated. :)

I've used 2 email clients for the past several months without errors in sending/receiving, but ever since, after installing MS Office Update via Windows Update yesterday morning, both my email clients just can't send/receive mails till now.

I use: MS Outlook 2007 for 2 gmail addresses; and DreamMail for my official email address.

Mailer daemons should not have affected your email client. Just go and recheck that your pop3/IMAC and smtp server settings have not been corrupted somehow especially your email password. If you still need more advice you need to give a lot more info on your set up ie Windows Version, Email client etc and what actually happens when you try to receive or send an email.

I cannot receive or send email in my Windows Live Mail account. I receive error ID: 0x300CCC92 and am asked to enter my username and password which are remembered and pop up on the screen. Even if I retype them, I still receive an error. My email will work sometimes so I am able to receive my email, but the majority of the time it does not work even though I change no settings. This is a pattern...I can receive email, and then I cannot. I have spoken with numerous people at AT&T, had someone change some settings via remote access, and the problem was finally fixed, but the next morning, I could no longer receive email again. This has been happening for four days. I even deleted Windows Live Essentials 2011 and then installed Windows Live Essentials 2012, but all of my email is remembered, and I have the same problem...error ID: 0x300CCC92.

I have Windows 7 and have these settings:
Incoming mail (POP 3):
Outgoing mail (SMTP):
Under Servers my email username and password are entered, and "Remember password" is checked.
Under Settings in the Servers tab I have checked "Use same settings as my incoming server"
"My server requires authentication" is checked under Servers
Under Advanced both boxes are checked for outgoing mail and incoming mail that read, "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)"

Swithched to earthlink satellite. Set up my email with initially seened to work but then started working in an upredictable fashion. When I open the program I get error Ox800ccc0D which is incorrect server name. When I close this error box and hit send/receive it then works on the first to third try. I have checked in detail all account entries with earthlink. I have tried turning off my norton firewall. I have looked at security levels in internet explorer which are all set at medium. I have checked to see if I have an internet connection which is working properly. I have done a complete virus scan which is negative. There seems to be no pattern as to when the mail program will or will not function properly. I am running xp professional. I cannot find a way to correct this problem. Help

My father has recently signed up for broadband, and very nice it is too (I'm not envious...).He has a problem with it, though. When he opens Outlook Express, his BB disconnects itself. And then again each time he sends/receives mail. It's easy enough to reconnect each time, but it would be nice not to have to. Oh, and the little "connected" icon in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen (the one that looks like two tellies) remains there, but with a red cross over it. So, as I type, there are two versions of the icon visible--one with the red cross on it, left when I just started OE and the BB subsequently disconnected, and another without the red cross, which appeard when I reconnected. Surely that little icon usually disappears?I've checked the settings in OE under tools/options/connection, and the box marked "hang up after sending/receiving" is not checked, so it's not that. What else could it be? Any ideas?Thank you!

You say "My father has recently signed up for broadband", there wouldn't still be a dial-up connection there that could be causing this would there?

I'm using outlook 2007 on a windows vista ultimate PC. I have four email accounts set up: two of which are current and two of which are now old. I want to be able to disable the send and receive on the two old accounts but don't know if removing these accounts will mean I can no longer see the emails.

All the accounts are IMAP accounts.

I've tried playing with the send and receive groups - first I tried unticking the Include this account in the group box for both old accounts, but that didn't work. So then I tried creating a group to exclude the two accounts. The two old accounts are in this group and the group is set to NOT be included in the F9 send and receive.

But it's not doing anything.

So my question is, how can I stop it trying to send and receive on the two old accounts? If I just remove them from the account section, won't they also dissapear from the Mail section?

Doh! One of the accounts had a message waiting to be sent - from months ago. Didn't realise, now that I've deleted it, no problem.....sorry to clog up the forums.

I am at a conference in Cancun, with cabled internet in my room. It will receive but not send mail from Outlook, though no error message comes up - it says it has completed sending but the emails remain in my Outbox. Can someone help - and I would need 101 on how to make any changes to settings please.

I'm trying to help my cousin with her HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC with AMD Turion(tm) Dual-Core Mobile RM-72 2.10 GHz computer. It has Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 and 64-bit Operating System
She is able to send and receive emails with no problems, except that she cannot open links. We have been able to open no websites and I have been through all of the tech support options with her ISP. We uninstalled the update for IE 8 and removed Cyber Defender to enable internet access but the problem has reoccured and I haven't been able to remove the Cyber Defender program again (will not be removed from the Add/Remove Program list). Neither does it work to remove the IE8 update. Access denied on several funtions although she is the administrator and only user.

I've deleted everything I can find in Safe Mode related to Cyber Defender and the IE8 again. Was able to download Mozilla Firefox and am working through pages on it.

Can you help me with an answer for DNS errors on internet explorer even though I can send and receive emails on her computer?

Yesterday morning, Outlook 2007 simply stopped sending/receiving email. Send/receive status simply hangs, showing some variation of "receving message X of X (X.XX KB of XYZ KB). When I cancel, the send/receive function doesn't work. I shutdown and restart, same scenario. I've removed and added Outlook to no avail. I am running it on Windows 7. Appreciate any help you might offer.

I am unable to receive messages in Outlook 2007. I can send without issue, but I cannot receive across a variety of email addresses with various port settings. Outlook was working without any issues until a few days ago and there were not any updates or installations that can be linked to this issue. I have tried removing the antivirus software entirely and I have disabled the firewall but still can’t receive messages. I do however receive emails on my blackberry from all email accounts. I have verified settings with my domain hosting company. When clicking on the “Test Account Settings” button on the “Internet E-mail Settings” page Outlook does not detect any issues however the test email is only received on the blackberry and not in Outlook. Outlook also does not show any errors when attempting to send and receive emails. Thanks for your help on this baffling problem.

I'm trying to set up my email addresses in outlook 2007. (Ironically they set up fine in Entourage.) I don't want to use the connector program, as it receives mail in a separate folder, and I'd rather keep my email together in one inbox. I've set the proper settings for both receiving and sending, but I can neither send nor receive. Any ideas? Thanks very much.

Here at the doctor's office I work at, all of a sudden last Thursday, a prompt came up asking us to put our login credentials for our email upon sending an email, which is NEVER does. The user name and password was all saved, so we just clicked OK. Our email addresses are all different and all end with, which is using a server.

Now, on multiple computers, everybody can still RECEIVE email, but nobody can SEND email. This is through Windows Live Mail and Outlook Express on both Windows XP and Windows 7. The exact error reads as follows:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

I can't get Outlook 2003 (SP3) to work with Sky email on POP.Have read through all of the posts and links and tried the following.- diff pop3/smtp settings- diff ssl ports or none at all- unlock catchpa link- change sky passwordI can log into Sky email online and have checked that POP forwarding is set etc.Am still getting the following error.Task 'Xxxxxxxx - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your e-mail server rejected your login. Hello Everyone:
This would be my first post. This forum looks well organized and thought I'll join in the fun!
My CEO's Outlook 2003 is unable to receive and send mails until he presses the Send/Receive button in Outlook.
It always stays offline, eventhough you had chosen Connect.

Outlook Repair, reinstallation (but not removed) has been done to no avail.
TRied to run ScanOST but prompted "you must be online to do this"
Recreated email profile but the server's name could not be resolved (you could ping it though OK).
He has Internet connection.

Any ideas?

I work as a part time administrative assistant for a professor at a University. In the past, he has sent and received his University email through Outlook, and his administrative assistants have sent, but have not been able to receive/read his email, through a Eudora account on a separate computer. Our university made major changes to the network this past week, and Eudora no longer works in this capacity, and the campus IT people state that we can no longer use Eudora, and that it's not possible to use Outlook in this capacity.Well...I'm not accepting 'not possible' as an answer just yet! Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, how I can configure Outlook to function in this way? Would it be possible to just forward the email through the office computer Outlook account to my boss's computer, and delete it on forwarding? He's concerned about privacy, obviously. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Outlook 2010 with Windows 7 can send email but not receive. Yesterday the email stopped receiving. Nothing was done to the pc. It can send no issues. The email account itself works because a blackberry works just fine. Repair office has been tried.

I don't think it's possible to do it the way you want... however i've done this in the past but please, check the legalities of it first. It may or may not be legal to do. Watch your sizes and set some limits.

I have no idea what to do.

My Eudora dominant personality is my business webmail ([email protected]). My ISP is ATT Yahoo DSL. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and I've fiddled with it as much as I know how. Current error message is connection refused 10061. I've tried smtp relay and created another personality for yahoo but have no idea what is supposed to be in the SMTP and am still getting the error.

I would like to see if someone could provide me with an explanation about this problem I just had.
My boss was going on vacation this week and she wanted to be able to access her emails through Outlook, which she does at the office.
I signed her up with Earthlink dial up and I tested the connection and also checked to make sure that she was able to receive emails thru Outlook. When she arrived at her vacation location she was not able to receive nor send using her Outlook. I tried to help her thru phone call; she also contacted Earthlink and Yahoo Business Email, but after their help she was still not been able to use her Outlook, unfortunately. She did everything the tech support recommended her to do which was change the Incoming server address and Outgoing server address. Also, they had her change some of the advance configurations, like the SSL settings, and nothing. Anyone can give me some explanation why this has happened to her not being able to use her Outlook while away from her office?

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

How was she connecting to the Internet? Dial-up? Wirelessly?
If she was not connected through Earthlink, then she would not be able to Send messages as relaying is prohibited by most ISP's.

As for receiving that is usually not the case. She should have been able to receive messages.
Though she should have been able to use the web mail server for Earthlink.

Without the exact error message, we can only guess.

I'm sure I've read a solution to this but can't now find it.A friend has an email (with an attachment I imagine)that is taking an age to download - we're talking several hours. She knows the sender, so doesn't expect it to contain a virus or anything like that. How can she get rid of/bypass this email so that she can receive other mail?

If her ISP has the facility to access email messages via a web browser (webmail), then log in to her email via a browser, and delete it from there.If her ISP does not offer this service (most do nowadays), then use web2mail at to achieve the same result.Oh yes, then send a polite email to the sender, asking them to be more considerate in future :)

why would changing my dsl modem and bypassing a firewall upset my exchange 2003?
i can send but not receive mail...

before you ask:

1) the server is online
2) i port forwarded smtp port 25 to my servers address
3) outlook is connected (well at least it says it is) but no mail is coming in
4) as i said i can send

is this a DNS issue? how can i test
