Preferred Solution: Colour Change!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello friends,
I was just thinking that wouldn't it be great if we get more color options to change the background color on our Windows Phone devices than just black or white as we get on Windows 8.1 devices to customize background color along with tile colour?

Answer:More colour options to change background colour

I personally like the black and white, but I saw a mockup of a dim tropical photo in place of the black and it looked quite beautiful.

Recently I had problem with my PC running windows 98 and now, since I have had it running again (at first in safe mode and now normally with a diagnosis start up,)it has been running with only 16 colours.I know how to change it in properties but whenever I turn it up to 250 colours it tells me to restart and after I do, it is still 16 colours. Is there any other ways to change the colour which actually could work?

Answer:Win 98 colour change

You'll probably have to reinstall the video drivers and the monitor driver if Windows hasn't picked it up.

I would like to be able to fade a colour picture from greyscale to full colour. Your advice will be appreciated.Abel

Answer:PowerPoint Colour Change

This will depend on your version of PowerPoint and the effects available. Here's how I would do it.1. Insert the grayscale image.2. Insert the colour image.3. Make sure that the size of each image is the same, the colour copy should sit nicely on top of the greyscale one.4. In the custom animations, set the colour copy to 'dissolve', and it should follow the greyscale copy in the order of events.Dave

Both thumbnails are also correct when viewing from list.Opening them with PictureIt, Paint, Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition and Internet Explorer both reproduce accurately.Any ideas what has happened to Windows P & F Viewer?

Is there a way to change the color appearance of the wpcentral app home page? I'm really tired of the blue. I know the rest of the app appearance can be chosen as to what color you like. If it could match that it would help.

Answer:Wpcentral app.: how do I change colour?

To change colour, you need a chameleon, a PhD in biology, some unpaid interns and about $10,000,000.
As for the WPC app, I believe you cannot change it on the phone.

Is there any way to choose the colour of Ctrl+A or is it only under control of the site designer?

Thanks for any advice.

Answer:Change my desktop colour - help!!

In Control Panel, Personalization, you have two related settings: Desktop Background and Color. I use themes for the background so my desktop takes its color from a hue associated with whatever background is currently on display. The background color choices can be turned off for the various items you mention (Start menu, taskbar, action center, and also title bars). Do you need help with puzzling your way through this stuff? There may be tutorials on this ... goes off to look ... yes, there's a whole category called "Appearance & Personalization." You should probably root around in there and see what you can find. Here's something to get you going, though:

You can get here by clicking Settings, Personalization, or looking for Personalization in Control Panel.

Answer:colour change of task bar, etc

It's usually black by default but you can set any theme you wish.It doesn't change unless you inadvertently changed it.Either way, set the theme to your liking by right click on the desktop and accessing its theme features. Hi, I am preparing a excel dashboard where in I need to change different colours based on other cell colours across various worksheets.Say for example. I have a worksheet named "dashboard" with a row header "A". I have another worksheet named "1" which has 5 rows namely a,b,c,d,e respectively. a is filled with red colour b is filled with green c with Yellow d with orange using conditional formatting. I need to change the colour of dashboard row to the max colour found in sheet "1" which is RED/Orange/Amber/green in the order of precedence.Can I use a formula to do this conditional formatting or do I need to use a vba script. Pls. help

Answer:Change the colour of a cell

Can't you just use the same conditional formatting rules on the Dashboard sheet that you use on Sheet "1"?e.g. If a rule on Sheet "1" checks the value of certain cell and fills cell "a" with red, why not just test that same cell on the Dashboard sheet?

Answer:Can I change the colour of my MSN screen

If you are talking about MSN Messenger, then the only option you have is to change the colour via the "Change your scene" window. I don't think MSN has anything fancy like scripting (if you are talking about CSS and that kind of stuff).

If you mean Windows Live Hotmail and you are using Firefox, then you might be able to use Stylish to add/modify custom CSS for that web page.

Answer:file name colour change

If you mean change the color of a filename in Windows Explorer, you can't. The only exception would be compressed files which will be displayed in blue (by default). Not all files can be, or should be, compressed. This is not a recommended solution.Do not include your email address in posts as this is an invitation to spam. In any event it is very unlikely that any member of this forum would send you an email.

Hey guys,

I'm running Windows 7 7100 RC on a Dell XPS M1330. I'm able to run aero no problems at all, but for some reason I can't change the colour of the taskbar?

I can change the window title bar colours in the Personalize section of Control Pannel, but it has no effect on the Taskbar (even when transparency is turned on). As a consequence of this, all the items on my taskbar appear in white against a black background - it's high contrast and really annoying. Can anybody help me?

As an additional to this problem, for some reason the taskbar only becomes transparent when I set it to auto-hide. When it's sitting there normally at the bottom of the screen, it's opaque like the screenshot I posted. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Jonny

Answer:Taskbar won't change colour

Well, as far as I'd go, I'd do these things.

1. Check to make sure I haven't hit the high contrast theme button.
2. Try another aero theme.
3. If that doesn't work, try a non-aero theme, such as Win7 Basic
4. Click on the Windows color button and mess around with the settings there.
5. If that doesn't work, then check to make sure you have the latest graphics drivers that are compatible with Windows 7.
6. Baring that, mess around with the screen settings for your graphics card and see if that resolves anything.
7. Get frustrated and toss it out your window.

I've made a calculator in flash cs5. The display part of my calculator is a textbox that displays the answers, numbers etc and a white movie clip as a rectangle behind the textbox to make it look like a screen. I want the screen (movie clip) to change to green when the answer is a valid number but red for an error (NaN, e.g when you put two decimal places in a single number.) My problem is that it turns green no matter what the answer is.

My code is as follows on the equals button:
Code:

on(press, keyPress "<Enter>")
{
calculate();
}

on(release)
{
if(display.output=Number)
{
myColor = new Color(displayback);
myColor.setRGB(0x66FF99);
}

else if(display.output=NaN)
{
myColor.setRGB(0xFF0000);
}
}

I am currently not very good at actionscript so any help would be appriciated.

Hi all,
I'm having some trouble customizing one key part of my desktop. I frequently work in 2 or more open windows side-by-side or tiled or some other arrangement, often referring to one of the inactive windows. For example if you open 2 explorer panes and drag each to either side of the desktop so they're both filling one half of the screen. Now click on an icon in one pane, see how it's highlighted in blue (or your theme's easily definable colour), then if you click on and make active the other pane that highlight around the icon you just clicked on turns to an extremely light grey... as hard as I search in Control Panel and the Window Color and Appearance settings I can't find a selection box for this colour.

To clarify its the colour of the selection in the inactive window I want to change, not the colour of an active selection.

Thanks in advance!
FireJordan

Answer:Change the inactive selection colour

According to this: • View topic - Group Images 600, the image is either 630, 631 or 646 from aero.msstyles.
But keep in mind that if you make it too dark the black text on top of it will be harder to read.

I am using a Windows 7 system and I am trying to change the following settings:
I am trying to modify the box that contains the text "search programs and files" within the start menu search bar - this box only shows until you actually select the section to type in an item to search - while this currently shows as white I wish to change it as so it shows in a cyan colour.
I have tried modifying the themes however these don't appear to have had any effect on the issue - similarly going into the registry and changing the RGB values under "HCKU/Control Panel/Colours" & "HCKU/Control Panel/Desktop/Colours" doesn't seem to have had any effect.
I've included a link to a screenshot below which shows the box in white while using a "high contrast" theme.

I use Firefox 10 and find that although I use a color managed browser and calibrated monitor, the color difference between READ and UNREAD underlined urls is minimal.

Often I struggle to see whether I have already read a link. Why are we restricted to blue and near purple colours?

Beemer

Answer:Change read, or unread, URL colour

Hi, openup firefox >> tools >> settings >> content >> colors and select your colors
now under tools >> settings >> content >> advanced uncheck allow sites to use their font... (I'm using non-english firefox so I don't know real path on english...)

that's it, you now have your own colors and fonts which may be changed at any time

I think I don't miss the window border transparency, it didn't help readability anyway (in fact it mostly made it worse) and it's not so extremely beautiful that I'd want to keep it. But what is still bugging me is that the text colour of the window title bar is always black. No matter how dark the frame colour is. Aero still tried in vain to make it more visible by painting some white glow behind it, but Win8 doesn't even do that. Set a black window frame colour and you won't see any window titles at all! I consider this a major design flaw. So is it possible now to change the text colour (for active windows only!) from black to white? Just as it has been the last 30 years? I'm very much used to inverted colours for the active window because that makes it very clear which window is active. Though it is easier in Win8 to tell active and inactive windows apart, I still want to use white-on-darkblue active captions.

BTW, I noticed the automatic window frame colour adapting to the wallpaper image, but that's exactly what I do not want to have. First, the frame colour should not change, and second, it should have some contrast to its surroundings.

Adding this to the lack of configuration settings for other parts of the UI, it seems Microsoft doesn't want us to customise things at all. Just like every computer in the world should look and behave exactly the same. But wait, isn't that what Apple already did? Do I really need to move on to Linux to configure the UI like XP allowed... The fact that giving it physical abuse provides a temporary fix would suggest a loose connection in the hinge area.Take it to a laptop repair specialist before banging it does more damage.

is it possible to have individual cells change colour automatically when a worksheet is active based on time.
i.e

cells c1,c2,c3,c4,c5 (all cells are blue)

what i would like to happen is when the sheet is active the first cell (c1) changes colour from blue to say red,,after 5 seconds the 2nd cell(c2) changes from blue to yellow, 5 seconds later the 3rd cell changes and so on until all 5 cells have changed, then after 5 seconds all 5 cells revert back to blue for say 10 seconds then the process starts again until the sheet is closed

Hi all,I'm aware of conditional formatting, but my issue can't be solved with it.Say I have MAX(x, y) in a long series in Excel. I want to make it that if MAX chooses x, then the cell changes color. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer:Change cell colour - IF statement

Something like:=IF(MAX(Range1),''',MAX(Range2,Range3,Range4))Conditional Formatting requires only a TRUE result to work.But I get the feeling that this is not exactly what your looking for.MIKEhttp://www.skeptic.com/

After downloading and installing NVIDIA driver 280.26, my desktop background changed to a solid black. Now I cannot change it to anything other than a solid colour. If I try, it'll just change back.

I did a System Restore to before the driver was installed leading me to think that it wasn't actually the new driver. I'm currently running the sfc/scannow command to see if it fixes anything but in the meantime, has anyone got any ideas?

Answer:Cannot change background from solid colour

You may have to run your WEI again after updating your graphics driver. It sounds lame but I've seen it fix graphics related problems like Aero not working etc, after updating drivers.

I am trying to change the colour scheme (amongst other things) in a site I've downloaded into Dreamweaver CS3. I don't know what software was used to design the site originally (I do own the site by the way).I have managed to change the background colour in the main body but the header is (of course) an image (layer). I have opened it in Photoshop CS2 but it's locked and I don't know how to get into it to convert the background colour. I have the same problem with the page background as well, that layer is locked too.They are both .gif files, do I need (am I able) to convert them to make them editable?Would appreciate some help please, my knowledge of both programs is limited.

Answer:Change background colour in a layer

If they are gifs then they wont have layers, the original layered image from which the gif was made, has been 'flattened' and saved as a gif. What you'll have to do is isolate the bits you want to change the colour on, using the selection tool or magic wand tool, then change the colour within the selection. You will probably have to increase the colour depth to 16 million colours (24-bit), in order to do that. Then resave as a gif (or whatever).

can we change green colour???

Answer:can we change colour in prompt window??

It can by editing the .msstyles with a resource hacker of some kind.

Go to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero folder and zip up a copy of the aero.msstyles and post it here and I can give you the image numbers. I have 8.1 and need your 8 to check.

I would make a new custom theme so you do not corrupt the default aero.msstyles, look at Post #38 Here it will show you how, it showing Windows 7 but it's the same for 8.

You will need to install UxStyle so you can use custom themes.
To install UxStyle you need to turn off the UAC reboot, install UxStyle reboot, turn on UAC reboot.

Hi!

Every time I use the command Ctrl+C to copy. My Windows aero colour scheme returns to default colours. The only way to change it back is to hit Ctrl+C 10 more times!!! This seems to be an odd issue but its really annoying as I copy and paste allot XD

Can somebody help me?? I'm new to the forum.

Thanks!

Answer:Aero scheme colour change - Help!!!

Sounds liek something is running that is interpreting Ctrl+C as a command to restore default colors. Weird but that's what it sounds like.

How does it behave if you boot to Safe Mode with Networking? If better then something is starting at boot that is causing the problem.

Advanced startup options - XP
Advanced startup options - Vista
Advanced startup options - Windows 7

Use msconfig to determine what is causing the problem

These are good tutorials on using msconfig in XP, Vista or Windows 7:
How to use msconfig in Windows XP
How to use msconfig in Windows Vista
How to use msconfig in Windows 7

Click on Start then Run, type msconfig and press Enter.
Click on the Startup tab, record what is currently starting then click the Disable All button.
Reboot and see if it runs better.
If yes then use msconfig to enable several items at a time till you find the culprit.

If no, start msconfig and click on the Services tab.
Check the Hide All Microsoft Services box, record what is currently starting then click the Disable All button.
Again, do a regular boot, see if it runs normal.
If yes then use msconfig to enable services till you find the culprit.

Once you've found the culprit, uninstall it or find out how to eliminate it from your system. Simply disabling it in msconfig is a temporary fix at best.
Enable everything else you disabled.

Can you help please? I am trying to format cells in an excel 2007 spreadsheet, so that one month before the date shown in each cell is reached, the font changes colour to red.Many thanks,Paul

Answer:Change Font Colour According to Date

You can use conditional formatting. If B1 contains your date, do this:From the Ribbon select Home - Styles - Conditional Formatting, From the drop down select 'Manage Rules' and select 'New Rule'In the dialog box select the last item in the list 'Use a formula to determine which cells to format'Enter this formula in the box =IF(B1<TODAY()+28,TRUE,FALSE)Note that TRUE and FALSE do not have double quotes - they are Excel's logical values true and false.Click the format button and from the 'Font' Tab select a red color, click OKYou can make this more sophisticated by adding additional conditions!Click OK and select 'New Rule'Select 'Use a formula to determine which cells to format'Enter this formula in the box =IF(B1<TODAY()+35,TRUE,FALSE)Click the format button and from the 'Font' Tab select a yellow color, click OK'Applies to' will show the selected range, and the 'Stop if True' boxes are checked.Click Apply and OKNow dates between 28 and 35 days have yellow font and red font if less than 28 days.Note that conditional formatting can be copied to other cells using Copy and Paste Special ... Formats, or select a range of cells to create the conditional formatting in and write the formula to apply to the first cell in the range. The formula will automatically be corrected for each cell in the range. Regards
