Preferred Solution: outlook 2003 and more than one hotmail account

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: outlook 2003 and more than one hotmail account

1. Start Outlook. 2. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts. 3. Click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next. 4. Click Additional Server Types, and then click Next. 5. In the Additional Server Types box, click Microsoft Office Outlook Connector for MSN, and then click Next. 6. In the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector for MSN dialog box, type your name and your Microsoft .NET Passport e-mail address and password in the appropriate boxes, and then click Sign In. 7. Click OK when you receive the message that the e-mail account that you added does not start until you restart Outlook. 8. Quit and then restart Outlook.

I recently boought Office 2003 and I am having some trouble setting Outlook to open my hotmail account. Whenever I try to "Add new e-mail account" onto Outlook I go through the wizard and follow all the instructions (entering my e-mail account name, password etc) and it gets as far as transferring my hotmail files to Outlook and then an error window apears saying "the server responded 'access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook express now requires a subscription' please upgrade at http//'".Ok I checked out that link and the only way to upgrade there is by paying a subscription (which I don't want to do). Also the funny thing is that a friend of mine just configured his Hotmail account to Outlook only a few days ago without a problem??Does anyone know how I can set up Outlook to my Hotmail without paying a subscription??

Answer:Setting up Outlook 2003 with my hotmail account???

How do I get my Hotmail emails over into my new Outlook Hotmail account I inadvertently created my new account without checking properly

Answer:How to get my old Hotmail emails into my new Outlook Hotmail account

Here's how you add your Hotmail account to your account. I don't know if you'll get your messages over or not. They're two separate accounts that can't be merged.

Can you get back old Hotmail account, after having renamed it to new Outlook account?
Well here is Microsoft's answer on Reddit!

If you renamed your account, and want to rename it back to the original name, you can do that.
IMPORTANT: This may not work if you are outside of the US and have a "" or "" address!
First, remove the alias that was created when you renamed your account (the alias will be for the original name).
Go to, select "Notifications" then "manage your email preferences" and you'll find links to remove aliases.
Second, go back to the Rename page, Sign In and rename back to the original name.

Hope it helps someone!

I have a Windows 10 phone (Verizon 735), a couple of Windows 10 laptops, and annual Office 365 subscription. Just a home user and have all my Contacts/Calendar in Outlook, but don't have an Outlook email account....just AOL accounts which I get via Imap/Pop.
In past, I setup to sync across laptops and phone but sketchy at best. Just got notifications to "Re-connect Outlook 2016 ". Deleted old Outlook account and added new account....tried no hotmail this time. Outlook came up great...only 1 calendar!!!!! However nothing syncing with phone. Assume still need hotmail?
All I want to do is have my Outlook contacts and calendar synced with all my devices. Assume this should be very basic as guess all this is on "My Cloud"? Also, should be the minimum if Windows phone has any chance. Appreciate any help.

Answer:Syncing Outlook 365 contacts and calendar without an Outlook Email or Exchange (Hotmail) account.

It all comes from accounts.
What account do you use for Office 365 sign in?

I'm a Hotmail Plus (is that the right term?) user so I'm paying for expanded service. It's been fine for nearly a year now, but recently, my connection has been shaky - sometimes connecting, sometimes not.

Now, I can't connect at all and I get the following errors:

Task 'Hotmail: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error (0x800CCC0D) : 'The server could not be found.'

Task 'Hotmail: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error (0x800CCC19) : 'A timeout occurred while communicating with the server.'

I did some trial and error work and realized that the problem is with the URL I'm using:

This address must be incorrect because when I put in "" instead, it allowed me to get through but only once. That means that the issue is not with my Outlook.

Is there another address and is anyone else having issues with the above address?

What else could be wrong?

Answer:Hotmail and Outlook 2003 (Small Bus. Edition) - NOT Outlook Express

This thread looks pretty old but nobody responded so....Hotmail to Outlook 2003 or above now has a "connector" that you need to download in order for Hotmail and Outlook to sync correctly. Here's the download location for Office Outlook Connector:
Good luck.

Hi Guys,

My wife cannot access her Outlook/Hotmail account, every time she logs in she gets the message "It looks like someone else might be using your account"
we have tried to verify the account and change the password using the on screen instructions however all we get is thrown back to the above message?
I have Googled this and it looks as if there is no easy fix, the one option appears to be we follow link and pay a technician £14.99 to cure the problem.
I am not fussed about the money but I am not sure if the technician is genuine?
Any help would be useful

Thank You

Answer:Cannot get into Outlook/Hotmail account

That option is a scam. Currently, Hotmail/Outlook are having problems, down for many users.

Get the machine checked for spyware/malware, there may be a redirect or similar in use.

I have a hotmail account i want to use in outlook how do i get outlook to import my hotmail account also is it possible to import my msn messenger contacts into outlook?

Answer:outlook and hotmail account

The free Hotmail account will no longer work with Outlook. If I remember rightly a figure of about £12.00 is required to open yourself up to the biggest Spam-fest in the business.Don't get me wrong, I use Hotmail, but the levels of spam in it's system is huge and their filters only get about 2/3rd of it. You also have to check the spam folder anyway, just to see if anything has been incorrectly assigned.I reckon it's less hastle to leave the lot on line.

With a memory like mine that's no good - some people get two replies and some get none! Previously I used outlook Express and didn't have this trouble.I have had a quick look on the Microsoft Knowledgebase and can't find anything to help.Does anyone have any ideas if it is possible to get these icons to appear?ThanksDJM

I tried to import my hotmail contacts into Outlook 2003 yesterday. What I did was create my hotmail account in Outlook express then export from Hotmail into OE. Once this was done I tried to import my contacts from OE to Outlook 2003. Now this is where it gets a little confusing. When I exported my contacts(I thought) from Hotmail, it actually downloaded my address book from Hotmail. Now all my recent contacts are in Hotmail contacts not address book. I spent 5 hours trying to fix this last night, anybody, please, anythoughts. From doing some investingating this morning somebody mentions to copy the Hotmail contacts into .txt file and save on desktop then import that into Outlook 2003. Please help, I have hundreds of contacts that I need.

Also, why can't I reply to a message that I recieved in my hotmail account that I set up in Outlook 2003. Please help

Answer:Outlook 2003 & Hotmail PLEASE HELP ME

Hi HelpLineguy

Along the same lines, will require a bit of work.
Open the Hotmail website, create a new message.
Click the To: field
Add every contact into the To: field, until all contacts are added, or you receive a message that you can add no more.

Then Right click in the To: field > Select All > Copy.
Paste all the Contacts into the Body of the message, then delete the entries in the To: Field and insert your email address.

You now have a backup of your Contacts, that are comma separated, send yourself that message.
Select and Copy all the email addresses in the body of the message and paste them into a Text File, save the file with a .csv file extension then Import them into Outlook 2003.

Also, why can't I reply to a message that I received in my hotmail account that I set up in Outlook 2003. Please helpClick to expand...

Are you receiving an error message?
If so, please post the exact message.

'lo there-

gotta problem here. i've been using Outlook 2003 for about 4 months and had no bad luck with it up until now. i've added my existing hotmail account and had been able to send and receive emails without any issues. the snag that i've ran into quite a bit within the last few weeks is that i will send an email out to a correct address but the person never receives it. thought maybe i would doing something really stupid like having typos but that isn't the case. i have an yahoo account that i sent a couple of test messages to and they're getting there days later but mostly not at all. i've uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook 2003 but my outlook has been pretty sucky so far. does anyone know what goof-off mistake i've been making? thanks in advance

Answer:Outlook 2003 & Hotmail

Keep in mind that Outlook only supports 1 HTTP email account per profile. The Hotmail account is HTTP so if your Yahoo account is also HTTP they cannot co-exist peacefully in the same profile. This type of behavior can also be caused by a corrupted .PST file. If your Yahoo account is POP3 then try creating a new profile to see if that helps.

I told the computer NO I do NOT want to "try" outlook go directly to hotmail when it started showing up upon log in. Well it ignored me and forced it on me anyway. At first it would let me just use that gear thing and tell it to switch back. It KEEPS doing it though? Is there a way to make it NOT automatically force the outlook on me? Something is wrong with it if I use the IE browser to get into my email. It lets me log in then sits there spinning its wheels indefinitely. I figured out to go use a different computer with firefox on it to log in so I could at least clean it out from all the junk but I am fed up now. Am I or am I not going to be aloud to KEEP hotmail. Will I eventually be forced to keep the outlook? I hate to have to do it but if that is the case I need to quick pull all my contacts etc and start using yahoo or something else that actually WORKS and lets me delete crap without opening it first!

Answer:outlook keeps taking over my hotmail account

As I understand it we can continue to use and addresses indefinitely. I suspect that the Hotmail GUI will disappear completely one of these days and we'll be left with the Outlook GUI or one of Microsoft's email clients.

I have an outlook account <removed by mod>
i'm not able to login here because of password is incorrect, so finally how to reset it. I'm using window 10 OS.
I need toll free Outlook/Hotmail support number.

Answer:How to get back into my Outlook/Hotmail account?

i have removed the email address as it will provide you with a lot of SPAM
There is no support number , for outlook/hotmail as far as I know, BUT that may have changed now with Windows 8 (when MS first started linking email accounts to PCs for login)
you can goto chat - and MS will assist via Chat service

If you have forgotten the password - goto another Pc that works
Login page for the account
Then click on forgotten password
you then have to either do
a) Enter the mobile number to get a text code to reset - these should have been set up when the account was first created
b) Enter the alternative email address to get a Code to reset - these should have been set up when the account was first created
c) Enter the answers to the security questions

If you cannot do any of these - then there is a form to try and rescover the account
You need to provide a lot of details, and on the three attempts I have tried this to help people, they have an email back saying not enough information and ended up changing to a new email address and never did recover - BUT Thats before this windows 8 and using MS password

so you maybe OK to use Chat line

What country are you in - you may have a support number - not sure it will be toll free
the UK is 0344 800 2400

I still have a Hotmail account I want to secure better. Right now all I have to do is enter my email address and then approve the login with the authenticator on my phone.
Well jeez.. talking about making it easy to break into my account! If someone knows the code of my phone, all they need to do is look at my iPhone info and they can see my email address. Then, simply enter the email address and approve it and BAM they're in!
At least Gmail asks for a password AND the authenticator code when logging onto an 'unknown' device. Or does it work the same way for Hotmail/Live/Outlook?
I prefer to always log in with my password initially. If I didn't have a password on my PC, they'd very easily be able to log into my Hotmail account, since 'stealing' a phone login code is very, very easy. People will just stand behind you, watch you tap your login and BAM it's game over. Sure, they'd still need to get a hold of my phone, but man, I just hate it that Hotmail switched it around.
You should always have to enter your password first, and an extra code from your phone as an extra.
I'm asking this specifically, because my Gmail has a Hotmail account as backup email address.

I set up my hotmail account in my Outlook 2003. When I open Outlook, everything is quick and good; however when I click on my "Hotmail Inbox", it can take up to 1, 2 minutes to actually open!

I tried deleting three-quarters of my messages, but that didn't affect the opening time in the slightest.

I've been told by a couple of people who have Hotmail in Outlook that this not right, and it should be far far quicker.

Windows XP Home and Office 2003 were recently re-installed by my local PC shop after it had removed a Trojan for me.
I use Outlook Connector to sync Outlook 2003 with my Hotmail account. Since the re-install, if a message is received by my Hotmail account it is repeatedly delivered to Outlook 2003. I have to open Hotmail and delete the email to prevent it being forwarded multiple times to Outlook 2003.
Prior to the re-installation of Office 2003, Hotmail and Outlook 2003 worked very well via Outlook Connector.
I?ve had a quick look for a solution online but I can?t find one.

I have perused many forums about this and can find nothing that is comprehensible or useful!

I have created a folder in my Outlook for my Hotmail account, and the Inbox contents have come over but not the folders. It seems a simple request but I can't find a solution.

1. I don't need Outlook Connecter - the account is already created.
2. Microsoft Help is useless, so please don't tell me to go there!
3. If you are going to speak to me of .pst files, please explain what they are, where they are and what to do with them!

I can't find anything in the Outlook menus - am I missing something? I also can't find anything in Hotmail.

I have a Microsoft account and I am using it with Windows 10.

I want to use the Windows 10 built in Mail App.

It seem very nice.

I added multiple Gmail and Yahoo accounts without any issue.

But, finally, when I want to add more Hotmail accounts Windows 10 told me to use "Windows Hello" or something like that.

I really don't want that Windows adds ANOTHER USER in my computer, I only want to use MULTIPLE Hotmail/Outlook mails and their contacts and calendar!!!

I am afraid that it will add them as USERS of the computer, I don't want it!!!

PS: I found an half solution, I don't add the Hotmail account as "Outlook" account but as GENERIC INTERNET account. And it works. But I cannot use CONTACT and CALENDARS of it.

I have numerous hotmail accounts and am kind of bored of always logging into them to check whats new and to keep them open (log in atleast once every 30 days). Really, I only use one as primary and the others are there because of the unique name, shopping or other registrations. However, I wanted to use Outlook 2003, which I just got as I now have Microsoft Office 2003 Professional. Am i reading it wrong or do MS really want more money off me to use my hotmail account in Outlook?I started to think of alternatives as I refuse to pay for that and came across Mozilla Thunderbird. Has anyone used this and is it any good? Does it work with hotmail accounts? How does it compare with Outlook 2003 or is it more like Outlook Express? Finally, by using either outlook or thunderbird will I avoid having to log into these accounts once every 30 days as every time I use the mail software it will automatically check for new mail in these accounts? Many Thanks for any help in this area.

How do I set up my Gmail and Hotmail email accounts so that they will forward to my Outlook 2003 account. I want to have all three email accounts in one place to make it easier to access them all at once. Thanks for your help.

Answer:Forward Gmail & Hotmail To Outlook 2003

Open up your Gmail options and enable POP/IMAP access. There you will find instructions to set up Outlook to get your GMail account.

To access Hotmail:

Here are the settings to access your e-mail messages via POP3:

POP server: (Port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example [email protected]
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: (Port 25 or 587)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? YesClick to expand...

By default, when adding hotmail accounts on Outlook using EAS, the account got added with FULL HOTMAIL NAME:
[email protected]

There was a process by which the left pane of Outlook showed any Name that user wanted.

Now with reconnecting Hotmail account in Outlook (going to Exchange), the same situation of FULL HOTMAIL NAME in the left panel has come up.

The older process (with EAS) does not work.

Any ideas?

Answer:How to rename Hotmail account after reconnecting on Outlook 2013

When you say old process were you connecting to "Hotmail" as a POP account?

Mine shows exactly as yours does but even before I did the reconnect it showed that way.

I am running Outlook 2003 on Windows XP Prof. I installed Outlook Connector 12.1 and added my hotmail and MSN accounts. Both showed up in my mail folders list and both connected to the web and downloaded just fine.

When I tried to Send/Receive just my hotmail account, it was not listed in the Send/Receive group, so I checked the Email Accounts list. The hotmail account is not listed in my Email Accounts list (tools, Email Accounts, View/change), yet it is showing in the Mail Folders. I can send mail from that account if I hit reply on a received message but not if I try to select that account on a new message. I uninstalled Connector, and removed MSN from the list but I cannot remove hotmail as it’s not on the list of accounts. When I try to close the folder (right click, close [email protected]) I get an error saying to use the Email Accounts list to remove it...but it’s not on the list.

Any idea how to remove an email account that shows up in the Mail Folders but is not listed as an account in the Email Account list? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Solved: Outlook Connector- remove Hotmail account

Welcome to TSG!

Try this:

In Outlook's Account Settings window, go to the Data Files tab and select your Personal Folders and click Open Folder.

In the window that comes up you should see a file named emailid_hotmail.ost. Close Outlook and delete this file.

Reopen Outlook to see if Hotmail account is gone.

All Windows Live Hotmail accounts can be used with Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 or with Office Outlook 2003, whether you use a free or paid Windows Live Hotmail account. To use your Windows Live Hotmail account together with Outlook, you must first install the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector for Windows Live Hotmail.

Hi. I have a similar problem. I don't have a Microsoft account, I don't want one. My Windows 8 E-Mail address is for the E-Mail account on the family webserver, and yet when I get the confirmation E-Mail, it links me to a hotmail/outlook login page.

hotmail/outlook can't process my Windows 8 E-Mail account, how do I get past this aggravating obstacle?

Answer:hotmail/outlook can't process my Windows 8 E-Mail account

When Win 8 asks you to verify your account, it shows you your email address in one box with some of the characters replaced by *s and wants you to type in the email address in its entirety in another box. Once you do that, an email is sent to that address with a code for you to enter to verify.

There shouldn't be any confusion about which email address to enter unless you have 2 different but very similar email addresses.

I recently loaded a pop3 Hotmail account to my Outlook 2010 since I was having problems with the MAPI Hotmail sending multiple copies of emails with large attachments. I am hoping the pop3 version will eliminate this problem; however, I can't seem to get the pop3 account to find my contacts and Contacts folder does not appear in the folder list. This is stressing my pea sized brain and I sure could use some help.

I have a IMAP Hotmail account running on Outlook 2007 and suddenly it doesn't delete emails when I use the delete function on the toolbar and only sometimes deletes when I use the keyboard delete key, only then after going to another folder and coming back to my in box. I have tried running Account Setting again, even reloading my account. I used my Office 2007 disc to delete Outlook and reload it and still the problem persists. I have used Outlook 2007 and Hotmail for years without this problem. Has Windows 10 done something in an update that might cause this or what else could be my problem?

I have a couple of hotmail e-mail accounts. I have been able to view them in outlook 2003 without issue. Recently, I started to receive blank e-mails when clicking on send/receive in outlook. By blank I mean, No From information, No subject Information and no content. However, when I look at the hotmail e-mail using IE 7, all of the e-mails are there. I have installed the Outlook Connector as required. So far searching for a solution has turned up nothing substantial. Does any one have a solution for this problem?

so it keeps asking you for your password? check your user name and make sure its correct. I had this happen and it only put my user name, not my email address. so maybe you need to enter your email addy, and the password to that email addy, then click "save this password" check box.

While trying to fix an issue with selecting text, I got a .cab error that has now been fixed.

However, now when I open Outlook, it is asking to establish a new email account, as if I am a first time user. i can't access the existing email account, and all of the emails, folders etc. An archive.pst file still exists and by the size appears to contain all emails, folders etc.

Does anyone know how I can locate and reinstate the existing email account to access the existing emails etc.?

If this is not possible, can a new account be established and the existing emails, folders etc. in the archive .pst file imported?

Good Afternoon, Gentlemen,
I have an extremely annoying problem, with Outlook. A friend told me that some how a tick in a box which enabled me to download my emails into Outlook from my internet provider [ PlusNet ] must have become un-ticked.
He did not know where it is in my version because I have 'Microsoft Office Professional 2003'. I would be very grateful if someone could tell me where this box is and - just as importantly - how to get to it. The last few weeks have been very frustrating because I do not know how it became un-ticked, with the result that when the 'send/receive' button is pressed in the bottom right hand corner of the screen it now says 'Send/Receive Complete' and my computer has downloaded NOTHING. I must admit I probably did not notice for a couple of weeks because I do not download every week but it is now beginning to irritate me considerably.
So, if someone can help me, I will be very grateful.
Many thanks in advance.

Answer:How do I enable an account in Outlook 2003, please!!!

Don't know of any simple box to tick. I'd suggest in Outlook click Tools, Account Settings clcik your account if it there then Remove. Set up the account again following this Plusnet guide for Outlook 2003.

When I try to access the new computer with it, it tries to connect to an exchange 2003 server. It doesn't allow me to open up the program unless it has a connection, and it is asking for office.ost on the new computer. I tried locating the file on the other computer and it is not in the same location. The computers are linked up to login to a server where their my documents folder is located. Is there a way to transfer from one outlook 2003 to another on 2 different computers?

Sorry - should have put this in Software....
I'm using Outlook 2003 on my laptop (same on desktop system but it's in for repairs) and sympatico email. Recently i've noticed that despite deleting Outlook Connector and Live Sync ... messages that are being sent from Outlook are now being saved on line in the "sent" folder at hotmail / sympatico.

This seems to be a recent thing - did not notice it happening while using Outlook from my desktop computer.

Is there any way i can get this to stop happening. I do want to save sent emails to hotmail "sent folder" ONLY when I'm using the webmail.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated...

Has anyone ever come accros this problem before.

I set OL2003 for a POP3 account.
I added a second POP3 account.

Now when I send email it always sends FROM the additional account even though it is NOT the default. Choosing the original default account from the accounts list makes no difference.

If I delete the second account I can send from the original account again.

If I add a different additional PO3 account the same thing happens.

I really didn't want to go back to OL from Thunderbird but I want a task list and calendar in the same app.

If anyone can help me with this problem I would be grateful. Otherwise, can someone recommend me an email client that includes a task list and calendar that can cope with multiple accounts?

I work at a company (500+ employees) and on one of our XP machines we run Microsoft Outlook 2003. We used to have it setup so when you started Outlook, it prompted for a Username and Password, and anyone could use their Exchange login to access their email. After we reformatted the computer, I can no longer get this to work. It only lets me log on to a specific exchange account that I have setup in in the "Email Account" settings. It still prompts for a username and password, but only the account that is set up logs in. It rejects any other login. All of us work off the same server and the same Domain and it was extremely convenient that anyone could log on to their email from this machine. How can i get this functionality back? Is there a setting I am missing?

Essentially I want to be able to access any account on our internal exchange server (one at a time, not simultaneously) without setting up each account individually.

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

This sounds interesting.

Are the e-mail accounts subaccounts of one ISP or each a different domain as in:
1) a Gmail account
2) your own ISP account
3) and maybe another free account like ?

You mention each account has its own unique name under Account Settings. Does this mean the accounts do not have their own unique name listed under the E-mail Account Header column?

I've seen some posts with similar issues here; however none of them seem to address my problem exactly.

Here is what happens.

When I change my default EM account under 'Tools, E-mail accounts' it accepts the changes. However, in reality it keeps the old default and always reverts back. The only way to set a new default EM account is to delete the old one.

However, as soon as I add the deleted account once again; immediately Outlook reverts back once again.
Anything to be done? Or do I have to delete the profile and start from scratch?

Thanks for your help !

I have scanned his system for viruses, spyware and rootkits and found none. I didn't have time to check further today so I had to stop at that point.

My question is what else is there to check? I know someone could have gotten to his computer while he wasn't present and set up some filters/rules. I had enough time to find where one might set up a rule; but, where would one look to see a full list of all rules that are already set up?

I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue in Outlook 2003.

We are using Exchange 2000 and Outlook 2003. A user here has a non person account added to their mailbox. This npa is used to store contracts and other emails. Several members of a team have access to this npa.

The user has created subfolders within the npa. If the user right click's a subfolder and selects copy XXXX where XXXX is the folder name, an error appears:

"Cannot copy this folder because it may contain private items".

The user has owner permissions to the npa and all sub folders. I looked through all the folders and could not find any private items. One folder was actually empty so I tried copying it and the same error appeared??!!

I logged the user out of Outlook and had him log directly onto the npa. It could then copy folders fine. Logged him back into his mail account (which has the npa added to it) and the same error occured.

Maybe this problem is by design, I don't know!

I have exchange admin rights and so I added the mailbox to my Outlook mailbox but got the exact same problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Hi - I am going insane here!

I have added a new email account on my isp website to our office Outlook 2003. All settings and passwords are correct - I can even view the darn new account via webmail so I am 100% sure this issue is with Outlook

I enter new email account (as per all the others we have) and the test settings fails as follows:

The Find outgoing server is In progress
I am prompted for a password that is not accepted even though I set the darn thing both online and in the dialogue box in outlook.

I am using win XP, Outlook 2003. We have three email aco****s already in place that work fine, no errors or password prompts.

I have removed the new account from my isp and re-entered, and tried multiple times entereing a new email account in outlook.
I even got the isp service to sed a reg file with my new email account settings in it to automatically enter the info into new account.
I have turned off firewall - same issue.

Is there something I need to delete - change inthe registry?
I have tried searchin the Forums but nothing pertinent and can't spend all day browsing - sorry!

Many Thanks for your time

I have had some success in further troubleshooting of Outlook 2003. The culprit with Outlook 2003 running very slow and swamping the system at 100% CPU usage is with one of the three email accounts I had set up with it.

I deleted the email account entirely, and now Outlook 2003 runs smooth as a whistle with very low CPU usage.

But does anybody know why all of a sudden that email account started messing up Outlook 2003? I tried adding it back as a new email account, but it keeps telling me the following error when I TEST THE SETTINGS:

Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Outlook could not connect to the incoming mail server (POP3). The problem could be your SSL or port settings for the incoming server. Verify your port and SSL settings under More Settings on the Advanced Tab.

I have done this, and called the folks who handle that email server to verify I have the correct settings, but still get the above error.

Also, when I attempt to re-add the email account, CPU usage climbs to above 50-60%, and Outlook 2003 no longer runs as smoothly.

Answer:Outlook 2003 - POP3 Email Account Stopped Working - CPU Usage Climbs

First, outlook is a good tool, but a poor choice for email. Consider using other software
such as Thunderbird.

All the data in Outlook (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Email) is held in the single .PST file for each user;
the bigger it gets, the more time and cpu it takes to get into it.

As for the errors, it would appear that the settings are wrong.
The pop3 stuff is for reading your email from the ISP and the smtp is for sending;
each can be correct / incorrect.
You need the pop3 domain name (something like or
the correct port number (usually 110), AND
the proper login (secured or unsecured).

The sending side almost always requires a secured login on port 25.

I can’t access my HOTMAIL accounts- HOTMAIL support?

I then tried to sign on to my account using another Microsoft product Internet Explorer- initially everything looked unchanged,

Answer:I can't acces my HOTMAIL account- Hotmail Tech Support?

I've never used Outlook or Outlook Express in any form my self, so I can only offer some limited suggestions for sorting this out.

First: have you tried deleting all cookies and accessing the account? If using XP/2k -- it may even be helpful to try creating a new User Profile and logging in under that, this will ensure you have an entirely new web cache, index.dat and cookie folder.

Try accessing the account from another computer and see if you get in that way.

Have you tried using the extensive filter and spam blocking on Hotmail?

If you are usiing OE also go to it and export your address as an .csv file then go to this url and import them to your new hotmail account.

I don't know if their is a provision to import them from your old Hotmail account.
