Volume icon deleted from taskbar

Question: Volume icon deleted from taskbar

I've gone and deleted the volume icon from the taskbar somehow. I tried to get it back on by going to sounds and media in control panel, I then ticked the box to put it back on the taskbar but get the following message: Window cannot display the volume icon on the taskbar because the volume control programme has not been installed. To install it use add/remove in control panel.I looked in the add/remove programmes list on the control panel and there is nothing about volume in there.Any ideas? Ive gone and deleted something haven't I !!!!!!!

Preferred Solution: Volume icon deleted from taskbar

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone. I had my new desktop with Windows 7 Home 64bit for about 2 weeks now and so far im loving it. The one and only problem im having is the volume icon in the taskbar. I know its been posted several times before (i searched) but non of the solutions fixed my problem.

Sometimes when my Windows boots up, the volume icon is missing from the taskbar. I take a look in "turn system icons on or off" and the Volume, Network and Action Center are greyed out (cant click them.) It does this once every 2 or 3 reboots. The only way to fix it is to reboot. Its not a huge problem but its very annoying having to reboot 2 times.

Any ideas or solutions for my problem?

The volume icon sometimes does not load when I boot up. When this happens, I go into Control Panel, open Sounds And Audio Devices, uncheck "Show volume icon in taskbar", apply, re-check, apply, and the volume icon comes back.

This doesn't happen all the time, maybe 30% of the time. What could be the reason and what can I do to solve this?

are you by any chance using XP?

XP has a option to hide icons that are not used alot, check this Start > Settings > Taskbar and Start Menu and untick Hide Inactive Icons or keep the check in Hide Inactive Icons and click Customise > find the Sound control Icon and change its Behaviour to Always Show.

I have a presario 700 laptop running XP. For months now I can't find the volume icon in the taskbar. My dialup starts screeching (I played some music yesterday) and I have to open control panel and then click on the sounds & volume icon, then click mute. To put the icon back in the taskbar I need to uncheck the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" command and APPLY. Then check the command and APPLY again.

How can I put the icon back into taskbar permanently? And why did it leave taskbar in the first place?

If you don't have an xp cd try these

First try : Go into your Control Panel and open Folder Options, under the View tab uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)", click Apply/OK. Now go into Windows Explorer(Not Internet Explorer) and go to C:\Windows\System32\dllcache folder and open it. Locate the sndvol32.exe file right click it,choose copy. Next go to the C:\Windows\System32 folder and open it. In the right pane right click an empty area and choose Paste. Now you should have your volume icon back.

if this doesn't work, then download the exe file from:

Hey,

I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista. Recently, after windows finished installing some updates, I noticed that my Volume icon had disappeared from my taskbar. When I went to restore it, it wouldn't let me select the volume icon to put in my taskbar, the option had been "grayed out" so to speak.

Also, and this is secondary, when I upgraded to Windows 7 I noticed my PC took longer to start up and longer to perform basic functions like opening up my web browser.

Any suggestions on either of these would be great!

Thanks,

Jack

Is there anything pinned currently?

Here is here is where they get stored:

Drag a program shortcut to this folder, see if it gets pinned.

For whatever reason, the Volume Icon in the Taskbar was missing when I booted up my Windows 7, 64 bit, yesterday.  I looked in the Sound area of the Control Panel and there was nothing there that would help, then I  posed a generalized question regarding missing sound icons in my Search Engine and found that the Icon for Sound was residing in the Clock in the Task Bar???   Who would have figured that one?  Anyway, I right clicked on the Clock and clicked on Properties and there it was.  However, I couldn't turn it back on as it was "greyed" out.  Have any of you run into this problem and solution?  Thanks

I have gone through the 'customise notifications area'  options, and the volume option is enabled under "turn system icons on or off'.  Still, there is no speaker icon showing in the task bar.

When this happens, which is frequently,  I go into Control Panel  "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" and find that the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" box is still ticked.

I untick it, press OK, tick the box, press OK, and the icon reappears.

Not important, perhaps, but I find it very irritating.  Why does this happen, and what can I do to stop it?

Hey all, I have a little issue that I need some help with. I have a Dell Laptop running XP-Home and with sp2. Lately, when I boot up and my pc loads windows, I no longer get my speaker icon in my taskbar tray on the right as I used to. Then when I go to my control panel and 'sounds and audio devices', when I get to that pane, my option for 'place volume icon in the taskbar' is greyed out and I cannot get it to be enabled. Something has obviously turned it off or dis-abled it as I had it accessible/available before. Also, I know I have a sound card and I used to have sound. Now when I go to checking my 'audio' and 'voice' options in my 'sounds and audio devices' area no sound card is detected or shown and the area for picking one is also greyed out. This happened to me once before and I was able to re-enable this function but I do not remember exactly how I did this other than that then my whole 'task manager' was unavailable or un-enabled. I found a little utility then that was called a 'taskmanager enabler' and it fixed my problem. Now it is just the sound icon. Does anyone know of a like tool/utility for this or a work-around for this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks...

I lost the little sound icon and internet icons (wireless and lan) in the taskbar on the lower right for active icons. The little arrow is gone to expand also. I recently was hit by some viruses. I think I've removed most or all of them. Yah, I ran every antivirus program you could possibly recommend. Everything is fine now except the box for 'place volume icon in the taskbar' becomes unchecked after restart. When I put a check in the box and hit apply then the sound, and for some reason the internet icons, come back and stay. What gives? I'm thinking the viruses had fun with my registry but I don't know how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou. I'll keep running scans but really I did spybot, avast, malwarebytes, superantispyware, avira, iobit 360, advanced system care, spyware terminator, hijackthis, msconfig, bootscan avast, chkdsk, sfc /scannow, and security task manager. I think some others too. I'll keep scanning. Thanks

Answer:Place volume icon in the taskbar

Ran full scan on malwarebytes again and came up with a different set of viruses. So I'm on that right now. Maybe I was too hasty with my post. I'll update once I get the viruses sorted out and am discovering none on additional scans.

Hey everyone, just made this account cause I can't find a permanent solution anywhere.

As the title states, the Volume Icon in the Taskbar is missing on Windows Startup.

Yes, I know I can bring it back by restarting my Explorer.exe and such, still it bugs me to do so on every system restart.

Volume is enabled in Windows Settings (see attachment), still it's only showing after i restart the explorer.exe after every startup. ("Always show all icons in the notification area" is on, obviously)

On "Turn System Icons on or off" on the other hand, its disabled, greyed out even, so I thought somebody might know a regedit fix or something similar to keep it on on startup.

Is there any permanent solution to fix this "bug" ?

Just in case: Soundcard is a Soundblaster Z, other Specs on Profile.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers.

I just had a hijacked browser, which I think I got rid of by scanning with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Initially I had 3 symptoms: 1) received a delivery failure response from an email I did not send to an address I didn't recognize, 2) hijacked browser - search results redirected, and 3) the volume icon in the taskbar would go away. I could re-enable it through control panel -> sounds & audio devices, but next time I restarted the machine it would be gone again. (I don't know for sure that these 3 symptoms came from the same infection, but they probably did). Now - the 1st 2 symptoms appear to be gone, but the 3rd one persists. Everything I've researched online about problems like this say to re-install sndvol32.exe from your OS install disk. Did that, no change. Any one else encounter anything like this?FWIW - here are the pertinent lines from the MWAB log after cleaning the infection:Registry Data Items Infected:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Start_ShowHelp (Hijack.StartMenu) -> Bad: (0) Good: (1) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.Files Infected:C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysaudio.sys (Rootkit.Agent) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.Any insights appreciated...

hi. I really don't know what happen or how to explain this, but ill try my best.

ok yesterday i was getting ready to play my music from my dell inspiron notebook when i turned on the music... it was really loud. So on my keyboard, usually i would hold "Fn" key and the "Page Dn" key (page dn key also is used for lowering volume when holding Fn key) to lower the volume. However, the little "Volume Meter" window popped up and the volume wasn't going up or down, therefore i couldn't change the volume. I also glanced to the taskbar and noticed that the volume icon was missing.

I figured if i opened the volume control from the control panel, the icon would come back, but it didnt. In the "Sound and Audio Device Properties" window, in "Volume" Tab, under "Device Volume" i dragged the bar and that helped lower/higher the volume.

I dont understand why it doesn't work when i try to lower/higher the volume using the volume control, but it works when i try it under the "Device Volume".

I restarted the computer hoping everything will be back to normal, but it still the same.

Any ideas on what has happened? is there something wrong with my audio device or whatever it is called?

Thanks alot for any help/suggestions!

I have this little problem with the volume Icon in the taskbar.
I would like to have it there all the time. I am running windows XP Pro. I have tried both
the classic and regular XP versions with the same results for both.
When I open the sounds program from the control panel there is a place to check for adding the volume control icon to the taskbar. I check it and click ok. It adds the volume
icon to the taskbar and it works ok. However: next time I start the computer it is missing again. If I again open the sounds, the box is already checked. If I uncheck it and click ok, then check it again and click ok, it will again add the volume Icon to the task bar.
Either checking or unchecking "hide inactive Icons" makes no difference either.

Is there a way to make the volume Icon be there all the time? I think maybe it might be
a registry setting, but I don't know where to look for it.

Any help will be appreceiated. Thank You.

Greetings all,
I accidentally deleted the default folder icon that comes standard with Windows 10 home. Well, I didn't delete it, I hit the "Unpin from taskbar".
Where do these icons go when you unpin them? And how can I get it back?
I know I can replace it with File Explorer, but I like the files that are displayed with the standard folder icon.

Thanks for any help.

Hello Hooked, and welcome to Ten Forums.

You can open the Start Menu, right click on File Explorer on the left side, and click on "Pin to taskbar" to add it back. It's the original one.

I know this is a minor issue but its annoying, to say the least, to constantly go to the control panel to replace it.

Task bar locked/unlocked makes no difference. Seems every time I reboot I must replace the volume icon to easily access volume controls.

Any suggestions? Registry error?

I got both of these problems right after recovering from a virus, which leads me to thinking they may be connected.

My first problem is not being able to select the volume or network icons in the taskbar. Theyre both grayed out, and no fix on the internet has worked for it so far. Ive tried doing the registry edits and fixes, uninstalling and reinstalling the audio device driver, deleting the iconstreams in registry, all to no avail, nothing has seemed to work...

Also, my Alt+Tab no longer displays a preview on the windows minmized while im holding it down. it used to have this sort of "vistaish" and stylish format to it, and now it looks a lot like the classic windows alt+tab, and shows default icons for each window..it changed right after cleaning my pc up from a virus, im guessing something got messed up in the registry...

Ive searched all over the internet for solutions to these and so far nothing at all has worked, im getting desperate for help. Thanks.

I've had this happen on both my desktop and laptop. The volume icon on the taskbar will just suddenly disappear. The explanation I had found was something to do with cleaning the desktop of unused buttons. But I used the volume quite often. How do I get this back up on my taskbar? I have gone into the control panel and under Taskbar and Start Menu. Then into the System Icons menu to change the behavior on the notification area. But there is no way to change the volume back to "On" It is basically a unchangeable option. I had fixed this before but forgot to write down how I did it unfortunately. Does anyone know why they have the behavior change on a button that is used often? They should ask you if you want it removed rather than just doing it.

Answer:Volume Icon disappearing from taskbar notification area

In XP Go to Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices - Double-clickSounds and Audio Devices Properties Panel is now displayed. From the Volume(tab) - place a checkmark/tick in the box in front of "Place volume icon in taskbar" In Vista Go to Control Panel - Taskbar and Start Menu - Double-clickTaskbar and Start Menu Properties panel is now displayed.Select - Notification Area(tab) - place a checkmark/tick in the box in front of "Volume" in System Icon list I don't have a Win 7 machine readily available at this moment.  Sorry.  And I can't remember. And another thing.... I can't remember how to fix it in Windows 7.

My volume icon has disappeared from the taskbar (Satellite A500 / Windows 7). When I right click on properties to display the 'turn system icons on or off' box, the volume icon is there but I can't change it from off to on as it the 'off' is greyed out.

Does anyone have any clues??

Hi

Maybe your sound card isn?t recognized properly anymore. Have you checked the device manager for yellow exclamation marks?
Maybe you should try to the sound driver. You can find the newest version on the Toshiba website.

Normally you can enable/disable the volume icon if you in control panel > Sound and Audio Devices.
Check this!

XP Professional SP2, Pentuim 4 2.8Ghz processor, 503 MB ram.  Everytime I start the computer the USB hardware, network and volume icons do not come up in the taskbar.  I go to the control panel - Sounds and Audio Devices - and "place volume icon in taskbar" is unchecked.  I check the box and press apply and all the aforementioned icons show up in the taskbar.  I've run virus and spyware scans (Norton Anti-virus Corporate Edition, Spybot Search and Destroy, Adaware and A-squared) and no malware is detected.  I've also run Registry Mechanic and repaired errors.  I've also run SFC.  This is a minor annoyance, as it doesn't cause any lack of functionality in the computer, but it bothers me.  I've also surfed the net for information about this problem, but haven't found an exact match so far.  Oh yeah, I get the same result if I log on as administrator, so the problem doesn't appear to be profile related.  Any suggestions would be most welcome.  Thanks.

I just removed and recovered from a virus a few days ago that disabled my Antivirus and anti-spyware programs. Everything is back to normal except for my system audio. Here is a brief list of my computer specs before I list my specific problem and what I have done so far. If you want any other specifications, let me know and I will gladly give them.

1. Home-built computer, so no specific brand.

The Problems
I believe my computer was infected with the Trojan.W32.Beagle virus and perhaps one or two others as well. I have managed to rid myself of them, but several sound issues have cropped up in their wake. NOT ONE of these problems was around before I got the virus. They have ALL occurred since I removed the virus using various programs recommended by tech people online. I did actually have sound while I had the virus, so my suspicion is that one of the programs designed to remove the viruses removed something else that it shouldn't have. Here is a list of the problems I am currently having:

1. The volume control icon has vanished from the taskbar.

2. The startup and closing sounds, along with all other system sounds have stopped playing.

My volume icon in Taskbar disappeared a few days ago, along with sounds of any kind (internet, iTunes, WMP...). A diagnostic from Fix My PC revealed the error: "Windows cannot find C:\Windows\System32\System32.exe" ...I'm not sure if that's part of this problem or not.

There are no yellow! prompts in the Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers. I haven't identified the virus which likely caused this issue, and I do not have a copy of Windows XP to reinstall as I bought this laptop from my former employer upon leaving the company.

My objective is fix the Sound so it is fully operational again. Any ideas? Please help!

Answer:Lenovo T61, Windows XPPro sp3.Volume Icon on TaskBar vanished.&Games folder gone.

Hello,

On the volume icon issue, reinstalling the device drivers for the audio adapter should make it reappear.  They can be found on Lenovo's support web site at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=migr-67816.

For the issue with the Games folder, you might want to first check with the developer of the add-on you installed and see if they can recommend steps to repair the damage caused by uninstalling it.

Some time over the last few weeks I lost the Speaker Volume control icon on my Taskbar (Normally on the right side near the digital clock). I don't know what I did to make it leave, but I was looking for it just the other day and realized it was gone! I went into my Control Panel to access the audio sliders, and when I checked the box to display the volume control icon on the Taskbar, a text box popped up telling me that I have to install it from my add/remove programs function. Well, I can not find the Volume Control icon function anywhere, including on my original Windows XP Professional installation CD. Can anyone tell me how I can re-install the speaker Volume Control icon on my Taskbar?

Thanks!

For some reason FireFox doesnt want me to use my own icon for it in the taskbar. ill change the icon, pin it to the taskbar, click the new icon and itll open up a new firefox default icon on the taskbar so there will be 2.

anyway around this?

Answer:FireFox Taskbar Icon, Makes Duplicate Taskbar Icon's

Let's fix the duplicate icon first, open Firefox from the pinned icon you have already after the second one opens up unpin the first one and pin the second one that should stop the duplicate icon.

Now the icon go to C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar then right-click on the Firefox shortcut click on properties make sure you're in the Shortcut tab and click on the Change Icon Button. After you open up Firefox again icon will revert back to the default icon because it opens up Firefox.exe you would have to change the icon in the .exe for a permanent change.

Moving volume control dial nothing will be shown, just the small icon will be changed and show one, two or three small lines depending on volume level.

Hello melb1946Does your keyboard have volume buttons? I know in my experiences I have sometimes run into similar scenarios. In my case the problem was accidentally hitting the volume button on my keyboard. How is your sound setup in Windows 7? Is your monitor set as the default sound device? Do other sound devices increase their volumes?Probably one of the best ways to isolate the problem would be to put the monitor on another computer and see if the sound continues to appear and go up.

If I click Google Calendar, G-mail, maps, etc., these icons remain black, and all this opened windows just stack up in Chrome very messily.
The intention was to have them open in Chrome but FROM their taskbar-icon, so they're nice and neat and separate and always right there conveniently.

Hey all, my girlfriend is running Win 7 Home... she has always had the default Windows speaker "volume" icon down on her task bar by her clock. She uses it all the time to switch between her speakers and her headset, where she right clicks on the icon and selects "playback devices" and then changes between her soundcard/speakers and her usb headset.

Anyway, it disappeared last night.

Now open Taskbar, click on the "customize" link, get the window to select which icons appear... on the speaker "volume" icon under behaviors, it is set to "show icon and notifications"...

HOWEVER.

Then at the bottom click the link for "turn system icons on or off" and on that window, the icon is greyed out and set to OFF and it can not be changed to ON.

She's been bugging the heck out of me ever since to fix it.

We have no idea what changed it, or how it got changed.... we just know its been there and she's used it, for the past two years, and now its suddenly not there.

Any suggestions?

I'm having a big problem. I screwed something up with my taskbar and I can't undo it.

I logged on as usual. An annoying message popped up at the lower right corner of the desktop, above, not in, the taskbar, alerting me to something I should download and install that I have no intention of downloading and installing. In the past, each time I've logged on and this message has appeared, I have simply clicked on "cancel" or just clicked the X at its upper right corner. But this time, I must have taken leave of my senses! Instead of just right clicking the X in its right corner, I clicked something else on it and a message window popped up. That message window advised me to either "download" the irrelevant auxiliary toolbar I have no need of and will not download and install, or click "cancel". But it also offered me the chance to click a checkbox next to "do not show this message again on taskbar". At least that's what I recall it said. So I clicked on that, in an attempt to keep it from popping up every time I logged on (removing the annoying message from the action center each time it popped up upon logon never had the effect of preventing it from popping up again the next time I logged on, which is why I tried this "do not show ..." choice this time).

But once I did that, I found I am no longer able to make two things work on my desktop taskbar with the customary left clicks.

It no longer does ... Read more

I need help getting to the bottom of this, not sure why it's happening, or when it started happening, maybe a week ago...

I get a seemingly random icon flash on the taskbar for no more than a few miliseconds, so i checked
event viewer to track down what was happening and the only thing i can find is 2 events in the subcategory
Application that states the source as RestartManager
and the event ID as 10000 and 10001, these both appear every time the icon flashes on the taskbar

I think this issue is also causing fullscreen flash vids to show the taskbar and a loading circle on the cursor... also Battlefield 4 likes to get a black screen then when i alt-tab i'm back to the game without any crashing or any error besides this ominous
black screen

I'm running 8.1 legit

My problem is, when I drag the icon to the taskbar a popup asks me if I want to 'Pin to Internet Explorer'...this is the only option given.

Howdy everyone, am in a bit of a pickle and would appreciate some pointers.
The past 2 days i have lost the sounds of my operating system, cannot stream audio and have lost my volume icon from the taskbar.

I am however able to listen to CDs through itunes, media player etc and can watch DVDs fine. It is just there are no sounds on windows start up and games etc and no streaming audio on Youtube, Myspace etc.

I have tried many things, obviously ticking, un ticking the box in control panel etc. Have tried system restore, been on kellys korner or whatever its called, looked up the problem but i need XP driver disk to reinstall sounds card. I dont have XP driver disk.
aswell i tried downloading new soundcard which didnt work. Was clutching at straws really.

i think some kind of codec i downloaded started the problem. My "show desktop" and Thunderbird icons have also disappeared from other side of taskbar.

My system is XP Pro, a Compaq Armada M700 laptop. Soundcard is a ESS Maestro 2E
Im usually pretty good at solving these kinds of problems, have been googling this for ages tho to no avail

if anyone could help that would be great

Could this have been something that was tested in the TP and changed for the RTM version?

Answer:onedrive icon on taskbar instead of hidden icon?

Ehm.. not sure if you tried this, but...
start menu > all apps > locate onedrive > right-click on it > select pin to taskbar

At Windows 7, I created 3 program shortcuts which execute same executable. Then I changed icons for second shortcut and third shortcut. When I launched the executable from the second and third shortcut, the taskbar icon of the executable will be that of the shortcut icon instead of the executable MainForm icon. In XP and Vista, it will use MainForm icon in the taskbar. Is this the intended behaviour of Windows 7?

Answer:Windows 7 use shortcut icon as taskbar icon

Looks that way...

I had a search hijacker on my Internet explorer (safesear.ch) and on my Chrome browser I had trovi. I removed both. Below are some issues which I did not have before, please help me resolve those
- there is a padlock icon on IE icon which is on the task bar,
- I terminate Chrome and check running processes with task manager, there are two or three Chrome processes still running.

Answer:Padlock icon on IE icon on taskbar

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Please right click the existing shortcut and click on Unpin this program from the Taskbar,
If you also have a shortcut on your desktop right click and delete it as well,
Close all open ie windows,

Click Start and click on All Programs If ie is also listed as your recently opened programs right click it and Remove from list,

Click on All Programs,
See if ie has a shield on that listing if not Open and right click it on the taskbar and Pin to Taskbar,
Cheers.

Hello everyone,
There is a strange problem I am facing for quite a long time. Whenever I get connected to the internet using a dialup connection, the connection icon which used to come in the taskbar doesn't come. Also when I connect usb devices there is no device connection icon in the taskbar. The strange thing is that when I go to control panel and load "sound and audio device" and tick "place the volume icon in the taskbar", both internet connection icon and usb devices icon appear in the taskbar. Whenever I reboot the system, the volume icon disappears again, needing to re-tick the "place the volume icon in the taskbar" in the "sound and audio device". This is really annoying me. Kindly help me.

Answer:strange connection between volume icon and internet connection icon and usb devices

If you are having problems with your task bar, like icons not being show there when applications are running or minimized, take a look this web page and the repair program it offers. Might be worth trying.

Question: deleted volume

Hi. I was using diskpart to delete a volume from my usb external hd and i wiped the drive by mistake. Can I retrieve the files and folders or are they lost forever? Any assistance will be appreciated. deanie44

Answer:deleted volume

Hi, it depends what 'wiped' means here. Can you post the command you used?

Meanwhile try one or more of the popular data recovery programs e.g. Recuva.

You might be lucky. Such programs usually have two levels of scanning.

I accidentally deleted my portable hard drive volume when messing around with Disk Management on Windows 7. The hard drive is formatted using FAT32 and is about 120GB. Is there any way to recover it? I have all media and some important documents in there. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

Answer:Help recover deleted volume

Hi,

You can use the undelete option in a 3rd party partition manager. As long as you haven't attempted to change that partition in any way other than delete it, should work fine.

If you have a partition Manager - see if it has that option. Post back and let me know.

Hi guys, first time poster here so hopefully this will be at least somewhat bearable.

OK, so here is what I wanted to do, I was looking around the net and stumbled on to some videos about software RAID with USB drives. I know it isn't a very elegant or practical solution but I thought it would just be cool to see it working. So I found this article How to Create a Software RAID Array in Windows 7 and figured that since disk management in both 7/8 are essentially the same it wouldn't be a problem. I then went to delete the volumes on the flash drives and saw the option was grayed out. So in that state the drives cannot be used for what I wanted them to be used for. I did notice that on his tutorial his drives were described as "Basic" and my drives are described as "Removable" I think that somewhere along the line I saw something about removable drives being hard to work with in disk management so that may be it.
So if anyone knows how to do this all help is greatly appreciated!

Answer:USB Drive Volume Not cannot be Deleted.

Minitool partition wizard free edition should be able to set up your USB drives anyway you want them. Unless they are encrypted.

I have a tower Raid system with 8 2t drives. One of the drives was bad so in Disk manager, I deleted the volume. Now, I'd like to re-add a new drive to replace that one, but Disk manger will not recognize that drive even though I can see it in device manager and I've changed the drive positions in the Raid box. Is there a way to force Disk manger to see a drive again? (same one or different drive?)

Answer:re-activating a deleted Volume

is is rais 5 or raid 1 or 0? hardware raid or software raid?
Or was the failed disk just a "simple volume"

Wish I had a better title, but I wasn't sure how to word this.

Basically what's happening is I have 2 instances of Firefox (different versions and different folder locations) and one of the instances is not opening where it's icon location is.

Example Screenshot:
As you can see. The far left instance does not want to open where it's icon location is.
The far right version always does it.
Even if I unpin the currently working instance (blue/orange icon) to only house 1 firefox instance (grey/black), the grey/black instance will still not open like the blue/orange instance current does (in it's own icon).
Hopefully this isn't confusing for anyone. I searched for a few terms to see if anyone had this problem and nothing came up, maybe I wasn't wording my searches correctly.

Hopefully someone can give some insights.
Thanks.

Answer:Firefox "Pin to Taskbar" icon wont open in it's own icon.

right click the taskbar
pick properties
open the Taskbar tab

What is set for Taskbar buttons?
You could try Always combine, hide labels
