Preferred Solution: Sony Erikson connection problem

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Sony Erikson connection problem

click hereThis link will take you to the software page for the 750i - this will probably be more up to date than the disc that came with the mobile. I wasn't very succesful in linking my Sony T610 by USB cable - I haven't got Bluetooth on my computer. Which method of synchronising are you using. I finally resolved my problem by purchasing a simCard reader.Brambles

I currently have a problem with my Wi-Fi connection on my laptop. It will be working fine then suddenly wont find any connections! I then restart the laptop then it will work for a while then cut out again. Any help will be much appreciated, Thanks.

Answer:Sony Vaio Wi-Fi Connection problem

More info required please - What is the OS; have you Updated drivers or anything recently?
Possibly a simple visit to Device Manager would fix it.
First of all find the Wifi Network Adapter and uninstall it. Restart the laptop and let it reinstall the Adapter and see if this solves the issue.
If not then select the Adapter properties and update the Driver.
If still no good, visit the Sony Website and download the latest driver for your OS.

hi,
When I connect my sony DCR-TRV950 using a firewire to my computer, it doesnt get recognized. The camera says DV IN on the bottom right of the lcd screen when i connect it so im fairly sure its not the camera. I tried many variations of connecting, then turning on, different modes, etc. i tried changing the firewire port on my computer to another pci slot but it stayed the same. the computer does recognize my port and all the drivers are installed. I tried many different softwares for recording dv from a camera but nothing worked. when i connect it using a usb cable, it works but the image is not as clear as i want it.
Anyone know what my problem is?

the computer is a Sony Vaio and operates on windows Vista.we use satt internet with a wireless router.  The computer has been updated on virus issues and will connect to the net fine most of the time. but after being idol for a while the net will loose connection yet the wireless card is pickiing up router and there is no issues with the actual satt connection.  Normally I have to restart the computer and the connection comes back with no problems.  Though alot of the times the laptop will not fully restart.  It goes to a screen saying "computer restarting" and will just sit there and never restart.. I have to turn the power off and back on. Then the operating system comes to the black screen and asks if i want to start in normal mode or safe mode.  I click normal mode and it starts back up fine until the net locks up again.. It usually runs fine as long as i dont sit idle long enough for the screen saver to come up.  Any help on the issue is would be appreciated.geeray

Hi Satellite users,

I recently had a problem getting my Toshiba Satellite P50t-B running Windows 10 to detect (and hence connect) to my Sony MDR-XB50BS Bluetooth Headphones. The symptom of the problem was that the "MDR-XB50BS" device didn't appear in the list of available devices on the Windows Activity Centre "Connect" screen, nor in the Windows Settings -> Devices -> Bluetooth and other devices -> Add a device screen. Since the device never appeared, I couldn't connect to it.

The solution to the problem turned out to be upgrading my Toshiba Satellite BIOS from version 1.10 to BIOS version 1:50 available on the Drivers & Updates tab of the Toshiba Satellite Support site. The release notes mention a Bluetooth issue being corrected in version 1.40 and while I can't say for certain that this is the same issue I encountered, updating the BIOS was the last thing that I tried before the problem went away, and it's reasonable to expect that a relatively new technology like Bluetooth might have had early implementation bugs.

The other point to note is that if you've already paired the headphones with another device, like I had with my iPhone, then you have to hold the power button down for 7 seconds at power on in order to enter Bluetooth pairing mode first time you try to connect it to the Satellite.

I hope this helps someone someday!

Cheers,
Graham

I have a Sony bra via tv with Internet access through a Ethernet port. Due to it's distance from my wifi router I was wondering if I could use some sort of bridge between the router and tv? Ie something that picks up the routers signal and sends it through a Ethernet cable to the tv. I also have an old net gear router if I could use that.My router is a home hub 2.1

I bought an i& desktop with BT keyboard & mouse. I've recently begun to lose connectivity with the keyboard.

I also upgraded to a Samsung SSD and I mention that as it is the reason I removed a lot of bloatware. Long story short, I call Sony and they cant help naturally except to send a new keyboard. The instrucitons tell me to use a file on C named wconnect.exe to enable pairing of the new keyboard.

And it's one of the files I cleaned out and Sony cant help except to tell me to do a factory restore to get it. I dont have the three days it would take.

Can anyone make any suggestions that would help ? Thanks.

for anyone unfamiliar with sony's new handheld, you can upload images/movies/music to the device's memory stick via a usb connection to your pc.

the cable used is a 5-pin mini-usb (regular usb on one end, mini on the other). once the memory stick is formatted (via the psp), the pc should recognize the psp as a "removable drive". however, my pc refuses to recognize the device.

i'm at a loss here. would updating my usb drivers help at all? perhaps the usb cord is not the right kind?

i appreciate any help/advice...

Good Evening,

I have decided to connect my home PC up to my Sony Bravia ( model number in thread header ) so as to use it for watching movies. I had a number of issues to begin with but have managed to get it working so far. Mainly thanks to this great forum i may add.

What my problem is now is that when i power down my PC and then re boot it i dont get a picture. I get the initial screen when it boots up and runs the BIOS ( i think thats it ) but when it tries to run windows i get nothing.

What i have to do is boot up my PC connected to original monitor, let windows load then unplug monitor and plug into TV and it works from there. But i dont want to do this everytime i start my PC.

I have adjusted my video card resolution to 1024x768 @ 60 Hz which is the best running resolution for my TV.

I am running

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz, 2194 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)

OS Name Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium

NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS

Via VGA to Sony Bravia KDF-E50A12U

Can anyone provide some suggestions as to help my problem?

Thanks
**************UPDATED************

i downloaded the latest driver for my video card and i am now connected via DVI on my PC to VGA on my TV. I am also running at 72Hz now. The image quality is superb!! But i still have the problem that i have to boot on my standard PC monitor and then switch the cable to my TV. And it works!

Someone please HELP ME!!

Hello, this is my first post here and I hope someone can help me. I am having difficulty in connecting my Sony DCR PC9e camera to my computer with a firewire cable. I have installed a Belkin Hi speed USB 2.0 + Firewire 6-port PCI Card today and have been able to connect a USB cable to my digital stills camera. However it doesn't recognise my camcorder. I have tried to use Sony Vegas 5 and Ulead VideoStudio 9 to capture the footage but both say 'No Device Connected' or something similar. Unfortunately the camera was bought from Ebay with no software CD so I don't have the original software (Movie Shaker I believe). I have searched and found that Sony Vegas is the updated software and should recognise the capture device and camera.

I am running XP Service Pack 2 which should recognise and install the correct drivers for the card. When the camera is plugged in there is 'ping' like the USB connection. I am using the 6-4 pin firewire cable supplied with the card. Does anyone have any ideas? I could record the footage to analogue video through video in, but I bought a Mini DV camera with the purpose of creating DVDs on my computer!

Thanks in advance

This is going to sound weird but its happening! My wife and I are avvid EQ2 (sony everquest 2) players. We have had no problems loading the game (it connects to the sony servers on loading) and their respective websites such as eq2players.com for years. Now all of a sudden for no reason last night both of us can no longer not only load the game but log into their website. We can access anything we type the browser and all other online games work and load fine. Sony's tech support had us run some logs and they said its not their fault. My ISP (charter.com) has NO IDEA what they are doing, we explained the problem and they were clueless... I have reset everything, double checked my router settings and notice nothing wrong.

How could something , one server out of millions, one game out of thousands all of a sudden at 10:30 pm one night completely stop working? Expecially their respective website ring?

We are completely lost, and have no idea whats going on, no one will help us and we are addicts to the game. If anyone knows how this is possible and what we can check or try we would both very much appreciate it!

Thank you so very much!

-Mark

1. Just bought a Sony VAIO TT series and was trying to get logged on to the MacDonalds (Cloud?) wifi. It took ages to go through the leaflet they provide and then I got the message network not available. I had to do all the steps manually there was no "wizard" or automatic connection. First time I've ever tried this.

When entering a wifi hotspot should the wireless network appear in Manage Wireless Networks? This certainly didn't happen in MacDonalds. My wireless switch on the laptop is turned to "on" but how do I know if it's working. It seems ridiculously difficult to find a wifi connection. Am I doing something wrong? Does each hotspot need this complicated manual configuration?

The laptop works fine at home with a router and i also have a broadband "3" mobile dongle which connects fine.

2. Also getting message "Windows Media Player has stopped working". Why? How can I fix this.

The laptop is brand new by the way.

Any help much appreciated. Advice in idiot format please for a non IT/PC beginner, thanks.

to Sony Bravia LCD 32'
Helloall,

Before going out to buy cables for doing the above, I've googled around as to what best options there are.
My laptop (which I want solely to watch downloaded films from w/o charging from room to room with a USB stick for my LG HDD/DVD recorder player or burning DVD all the time) I plan to put somewhere near my Sony LCD TFT TV, hook it up and
off I go. It has DVI output for Monitor etc. Sony has HDMI input and also
VGA 15 PIN sub. Since Laptop has DVI, I'm thinking of DVI-HDMI converted cable. Read so much abt. the problems this may cause that I'm not so sure. My desktop (next room) has only VGA output. Since it's in the next room I'd like to keep the monitor there functional aswell. Will using a VGA splitter cable (Y) cause any problems? (I'm prepared to walk next door to start a film, that's no prob) but don't know whether there'll be interference between the monitor and TV (or even on PC desktop). I know I'll have to connect up separate Audio cable, that's no prob, all facilities exist.

Last question for now (my name says all): Monitor used with desktop is connected via 15 PIN VGA but also has free DVI. Can I loop thru, i.e.
PC image output into montor via VGA and from there onward via DVI?
I think I already know the answer (NO!!!) but maybe, maybe, maybe.
Any help much appreciated and bear with me (I'm 58 and new to the games of going beyond basic PC appliances like Excel... Read more

Hello all,

Please be patient with me as my PC knowledge is limited. I will do my best to get all info in here.

I recently bought a Sony TRV-120 Digital 8 camcorder to transfer some old HI8 tapes to my pc for editing and then to burn to a dvd.

The bottom line issue i am having is that when i plug the camcorder into the 1394 port it does not show up in my computer and is not connecting so i am unable to capture my video.

I recently added the following port to my PC: "2 Port PCI Express 1394a FireWire Card" Part#PEX1394A2 from Startech. As far as i know it installed correctly. When i go to my device manager i see the following:

1394 Bus Host Controllers
> 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)

Now, i thought i might have a bad 1394 cable. I do NOT have any other devices that i can plug in and test the connection. I did notice that when i connect my cable into the pc the DV IN appears on my camera display.....so apparently a connection is being made between the two.

I am just so frustrated as i just paid a couple hundred bones for the camera and 40 for the card. I don't mind investing some cash to get my old tapes transferred and backed up, but i just don't want to keep buying things that are incompatible.

Would you guys recommend that i skip trying to get this thing to connect to windows and just go with a SONY VRD-MC6 and just get the footage captured directly to a dvd and then import and edit from there??? Thanks for the help. I would... Read more

I have a Sony Bravia EX650 on a wired connection with wireless router & have trouble connecting to the laptop which connects to the same network on wireless. When both the laptop and the TV are connected to the router with the wire, I am able to stream media but once the laptop goes on wireless it fails to connect to the TV.

Sorry If my question is not clear, quick summary:

TV >>Wired & Laptop >> Wired - It works just fine
TV >>Wired & Laptop >> Wireless - TV is unable to see the laptop

The TV connects to Internet just fine as well.

At last i've managed to get my new bravia set up and working on my local network, or so i thought. All was fine, server recognised once i had turned off router firewall and all media files accessible. However, i went out and obviously everything powered down and when i came to log back on, i couldn't connect to the server. So i tried various things like refreshing internet content, server diagnostics etc etc. I could access the internet ok but when i looked at the network status it was showing the bravia disconnected. I decided to share some of my recent blog post that are related to computers, as I normally blog about business related content. This seemed to be a very popular topic and I experienced the same issues so decided to play around a bit.

The problem I had can occur a few different ways:

1) I experienced that if I put the computer to sleep (close the lid) that when I went to wake it up, the wireless would act as if the switch was turned off, even though it was on.

2) I experienced that sometimes the computer just wouldn't recognize the wireless unless I rebooted a few times. Even then sometimes the wireless switch would show it was off.

3) I experienced that sometimes it would work perfectly fine when I first booted the computer, but then would lose connection after a period of time.

I believe that this issue is with the pre-installed software loaded by Sony. I read many blogs, tech sites, and articles about this but none of them seemed to work. Then I remembered that when I first got the laptop, I had disabled some of the pre-loaded crap that you get when purchase a computer from a store (that's for another blog entry though).

Solution:

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> double click "Vaio Control Center" -> hit ok at the UAC prompt (if there) -> expand the folder "network connections" -> click "Vaio Smart Network" -> click Open

Answer:No WiFi connection between Sony Bravia TV and Netgear

I have moved to a thread of your own

Is this a TV that will not connect ? - as thats the post that you replied on
If so whats the make and model
if not - please provide full details of what equipment you have and what is not working

That ipconfig /all is showing a default gateway IP address of 0.0.0.0

IP addresses of all zeros are normally caused by one of the following.

Diagnosis:
Firewall / security suite
DHCP Service not running.
Duplicate IP address on the network.
Bad NIC card drivers.
Defective NIC hardware.

Resolution:
What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG etc

Check Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. The DHCP Client service should be Started and its Startup Type should be Automatic.

Turn off ALL of the computers and other network connected devices, restart (power cycle) the router, then restart all the computers and other network devices.

Check for upgraded drivers and/or reload the Network drivers.

uninstall the adapter and restart PC - windows will re-install the drivers

My wife has owned a sony vaio laptop for about a year and a half. Until last week we've had zero problems with this computer. It's mainly used while she sits in front of the TV, where she works while she watches TV. So it's spent 95% of it's life connected to the brick.

Last week we noticed that the plug from the brick, which plugs into the back of the computer, was very hot. Almost too hot to touch. The brick was warm also. I repositioned the brick on the carpet and checked it a few minutes later and it seemed cooler. I've also paid more attention the temperature of the plug and it's gone from warm to hot to warm, probably depending on the charging cycle.

It also seems to me that the plug is easier to remove that it was originally and I'm wondering of there is a connection problem which is causing the heat issue.

Has anyone experienced this on their sony? What is my next step?

Thanks for your suggestions.

Is Lumia 640 XL connect with Sony internet TV through Wi-Fi connection . My phone is connecting through wireless.
Please give ur suggestion

Answer:Is Lumia 640 XL connect with Sony internet TV through Wi-Fi connection?

If you mean if you show videos and audio through WiFi, it depends on what protocol the Sony TV is using.
Is it DNLA? If so you can try using Lumia Play to | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)

I have owned the sony tv for about 5 months now. It does automatic updates. Until recently I have been able to be connected to my wireless netgear router. A few days ago it has decided not to connect to the router. I have manually put in the SSID any other info it asked for but I'm far from a computer tech and don't honestly know what it wants from me. Does any one have any information on this issue with Sony TV. When I went online to search out information I found that the forums that had questions were quite old. If anyone has a simple step by step fix for this issue, please let me know. I miss my Netflix!!

Hello all,

I have a Sony Bravia KDL46EX640. I have connected it wirelessly without issue. I can go online, and view my files on my laptop (windows 7). I had an issue connecting to my pc (also windows 7), but when I changed the sharing encryption from 128 bits down to . . . whatever it was (can't remember) it worked.

Now for some reason it is not able to view and content from that pc again. I am thinking it might be an ip issue, I my wife said there was an ip conflict on the laptop once.

How should I diagnose and fix this issue?
Thanks.

Hello all.
This one has me stumped. Recently reformatted this Sony laptop and all went well. The unit has all the up to date drivers, including the LAN. It is using LAN-Express AS IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN Driver with updates to Marvell® Atheros® Extensible Wireless LAN Driver.
Both of these installed, but I had to do in compatibility mode for Windows XP. Not sure why. Tried it with normal installation and each time I received the warning "software might not have installed properly". After I did this I thought that if the drivers did not install properly that something would be messed up. Hence another reformat.
Getting to the problem (after proper install of the drivers). The unit will not connect to the internet.
I have browsed through the forums here and there are many similar cases but not exact. I have tried all the suggestions made on other forums but to no avail.
The unit sees the router.. tries to identify, stumbles around a bit and then declares it an unknown network.
It marks it as a "public" network, and connects locally only. Trouble shooting included trying all the different security settings on the router and the laptop, tried reassigning IP addresses. Put the laptop in DMZ zone, shut off UPnP, restored UPnP, ect, ect.
Then tried an open system with no security protocol ...... BAM connects to the internet.
This is obviously no good. I am running a Belkin wireless N router. There are 17 wireless devices that connect to this router with n... Read more

Hi all, I own a Sony Vaio VPCCW computer, Windows 7 64 bit home edition. My laptop has an Atheros AR9285 wireless adapter which I have updated the drivers for recently, I believe. I'm at a university that has multiple access points to their wireless network, so I DO NOT have login access to my router. Upon connecting to the wireless network and opening a web browser, I'm supposed to be redirected to a little submission form page where I enter a university username and password so I can have access to the internet.

Lately, I have been connecting to the wifi network and I have not been redirected to the login page, instead I get a "page not found" type error in chrome, firefox, IE, etc. I should note that when I am experiencing these troubles, PCs and Macs that are in the same room as my laptop do not have an issue connecting at all. This problem occurs very randomly, and it fixes itself after about 20 minutes. It would be very annoying to not have internet when I need it, however. I have read up a bit about similar errors on this forum and so I know that whoever reads this will probably ask for a Xirrus screenshot, so I have attached that. Unfortunately right now I am connected just fine, so I didn't get the chance to grab an ipconfig text for pasting here. I'll try restarting my laptop to force the problem, and I'll edit it in/reply if I can get it to work.

My network is "webster-wifi"

Thanks for looking into my problem!

My Sony Vaio seems to not like connecting to wireless internet anymore, and when I click on the available connections, it shows the ethernet cord as a wireless connection (but it works). There is no recognition from my computer that it is plugged in to a ethernet cord.

I have tried a system restore to 2 weeks before this all happened, and it didn't work. I'm not sure what to do, I know it's a problem with my computer because other people can connect to the ethernet cord and the wireless, just not me.

Any ideas?

Answer:Sony Vaio thinks ethernet cable is a wireless connection

and welcome to the Forum

Lets take a peek at your environment:

First:

Power Cycle everything . . Turn off the Modem, router and all pc's . . turn on the Modem and wait a few minutes for the lights to stabilize . . then turn on the router, then one pc at a time. See if you connect to the internet.

Then:

Remove all the stored wireless network profiles and search for the network again.

How to Remove Stored Wireless Network Profiles for XP, Vista, and Windows 7

Then: check your browser's settings, remove any proxy settings if found here's how.

Then:

with the pc connected to the router via the ethernet cable, , Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Repeat this with the pc connected to the router via wireless (disconnect the ethernet cable )

then please Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get a... Read more

Hi all,

I was wondering whether you could help, ever since I bought my custom built Sony Vaio Duo 13 SVD1321C5E Hybrid Laptop back in July/August 2013 I keep on experiencing intermittent connection issues where the connection keeps on dropping
when browsing the Internet, remotely accessing the network at work using Remote Desktop and downloading files in which I have to keep on switching between our broadband connection as well as my 4G connection in order to temporarily fix
the problem as well as switching between the dongle Sony provided to me when I complained back in 2013 with again switching between our broadband connection as well as my 4G connection in order to temporarily fix the problem.
I'm now at a point where I am so tempted to reinstall the laptop using a fresh of copy of Windows 8 Pro as it came with this OS to begin with in which it has now been upgraded to Windows 8.1 with the latest Sony drivers, I did upgrade to Windows
10 Pro last month but was informed by Sony on their information pages that a couple of the laptop features wouldn't work when upgrading to Windows 10 Pro in which downgraded within the 30 days of upgrading to Windows
10 Pro and had to do a further refresh as the display tiles on the Metro screen in Windows 8.1 Pro wouldn't display properly and reverted back to Windows 8 Pro with all the software that came... Read more

Hi guys,

New here so hi

I'm having problems with my sony vaio connecting to the internet. For one thing it doesn't pick up wireless signal as far away as the other laptops in the house. The main problem though, is that often the bars will be lit up as if it is connected but there will be a little yellow warning triangle saying limited.

When it happens, I try disconnecting/reconnecting and turning the router on and off but most of the time I just have to wait until it comes back. Once it is connected it works fine. It is fairly a fairly common occurence and happens every day.

I've looked this up and it seems that a large amount of these laptops have the same problem however I've yet to find a fix (I'm not a very techy person so don't understand much technical jargon). None of the other laptops/phones/ipad have this problem.

We have an Eircom router and the wireless card (according to the outside of the box) is: Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11bgn)

Unfortunately the laptop is outside its warranty and I will need this to last me through college (starting next year) so I really do need to find a fix for this. Any help would be appreciated and if you need more info just ask although you may have to explain how i get it :P

Thanks very much.

Answer:Sony Vaio svF15A1C5E "Limited Connection"

Just a few things for you to try until a wifi guru can respond:

Switch to a high performance power plan to see if that helps your issue.
Uncheck the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option (if checked) under the Power Management Tab in device manager for the wifi adapter. Go to:

Contriol Panel> device manager> network adapters> wifi adapter> power management tab> see the option above

Good luck.

Question: Problem with Sony

I have my friends computer and he has the same exact problem that your having in regards to the hard drive. It acknowledges it in the BIOS but doesn't see it when it comes to installing the OS. I talked to the idiotic robots of Sony Tech support to no avail. He even took it to them, and they gave him some BS about his harddrive is crashed. I figured out and diagnosed the problem in 20 minutes. Its just the long drawn out process as to how to fix this, which I see you have figured out. I used windows xp MCE live edition, (which allows you to load windows from a cd-rom) in hopes of being able to reset the motherboard and bios from dwnloads on Sony's website which doesnt work. It says the updates is not for this motherboard... Charlie brown "arrrrgghhhh".

Question: Sony Drm Problem

Hi.
I stupidly bought a CD that had sonys drm and installed it before I realized what was happening. I found this forum and you have a great guide on getting rid of it manually but got half way through it before realizing I don't know how to do the last step! This is the last step

Delete C:\%WinDir%\system32\$sys$filesystem\aries.sys (Replace %WinDir% with the directory that Windows is installed on your computer)

I hate to ask this but how do i know which directory windows is in. I believe its c so do i replace both % with c? Also how do i delete that? In my computer? Do i go to run forst? Sorry i know these are dumb newbie questions but..well im dumb newbie.
Thanks for your time and help.

Answer:Sony Drm Problem

The instructions say to Replace %WinDir% with the directory that Windows is installed on your computer.%WinDir% is a variable that refers to the Windows directory. By default this is C:\Windows or C:\Winnt\System32 (Windows NT/2000)To verify, go to Start > Run and type: C:\Windows\ press Okor just open Windows Explorer and look.

My recent Sony DVD RW (180-A)stopped reading info. The installation cd tells me all is OK. ANy ideas how to retore?

Answer:SONY DVD RW problem

Try this registry fix for missing optical drives.

Fix for missing DVD/CD drives.

Create a text file with NOTEPAD containing the following data exactly as below and name it FIXCD.REG
You should have 3 boxes on the bottom in NOTEPAD.
1)Filename : fixcd.reg
2)Save as type: all files
3)Encoding: ANSI
If you do not change it from txt type to All files type, then the file will actually be fixcd.reg.txt, this won't accomplish the desired result

Double click on the file and say yes to the merge into registry question.

----------------------- Use text after this line, contents of FIXCD.REG -----------------------------

I know my H1 is now ancient, but I'm trying to stretch it to tax return time!

Today I turned it on to get the reading "Lens cap attached." Really funny, because I don't even have a lens cap for the thing.

Is there anything that may be hung in the lens making it think that the lens cap is on. Can I reverse that? Can it be fixed?

TIA

Answer:Sony DSC-H1 problem

Sony has a general troubleshooting procedure of removing the battery for at least a minute and reinserting it. Other than that, “remove the lens cap” is the only fix they list for the lens cover message.

My best guess is that the sensor is dead. I doubt that it is worth fixing if removing the battery for a while doesn’t get it back.

My Sony DVD RW DW-D26a will not play DVDs. It recognizes them, and I can begin to play them, but once they get going the sound and video is very very choppy, to the point that it is un-watchable. I've tried using PowerDVD and Windows Media Player to play the DVDs, both experience the same problems.

Hi Folks, This is my first post. so go easy on me;-)

I switched on my PC after 1 year of no use(apple imac distracted me for a while).
The message "operating system not found" appears when it boots up. I put in the Sony Recovery disk, bit it could not read it. As Sony didn't provide a spare copy of XP, how do I get back up and running? Do I have to change the motherboard battery? any advice much appreciated.

I Hope you Christmas is Merry and peaceful.

Cheers,
Dryfly

Answer:Sony Vaio Desktop PCV-RX305 Windows XP now missing, no disks supplied by Sony

Call Sony Tech Support if you are the registered owner or buyer. They will provide a disk set for a small fee ($27) for six years after purchase, or until they run out.
Your only other choice is to buy the disk online at some place like ebay, or buy Windows Home (still available for $82) or Windows XP Professional for $135.
The motherboard battery should not be bad, but if it is, you can get a replacement (CR2032) at Wal-Mart ofr $3.67 or on eBay for $2.58.
The recovery disk may be good, and it is your optical drive that has gone bad.

I'd like to reinstall Windows 98 on a Sony Vaio N505VE, but it requires a Sony CD drive. When I purchased the laptop 4 years ago, it came with a Backpack CD-Rom Drive. A few months ago, I researched online and I seem to recall a website that gave instructions on how to reinstall Win98 without the Sony drive, but I can't find it anymore. Does anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks,
Lisa

I am currently trying to install an os on my laptop.I was having some viral problems before so i deleted the partition with a win 98 se boot disk, then formatted C: with the same boot disk that i got from bootdisk.comwhen i try to boot the computer with the boot disk in it says driver not found and takes me to a: where i can access the boot disk and also i can go to C:, but this is not my problem. I have a win98se installation cd but when i put it in my external cd rom drive that plugs into my sony laptop via a cd rom interface pc card it doesnt recognize the cd drive ( i have tried all drive letter ) i plug in the cd rom drive and reboot the computer and the external drive has power and looks to be reading the cd but nothing comes up. I can access a: and b: when the external floppy drive is plugged in but a: and b: are both accessing the boot disk in the floppy. I am currently downloading a win xp cd and going to try that but i dont think the computer will recognize it, any suggestions?

Answer:Sony Laptop wont recognize sony plugin cd rom drive

It will not recognise a USB external CD drive without drivers being loaded.Does the internal CD drive work ?If so that should run properly.

Hi Guys
i have SONY VAIO VPCEB4C5E,
After Having Liquid Spilled on my Screen, it was not working for few hours,
then i tool to local repair and they did it worked, so everything is working fine. However i doubt that, when i press Power Button, it tooks about 7-8 seconds to start loading SONY LOGO and then WINDOWS 7 comes up, as i remember, Before it got spilled, and prev time, on pressing power button, it was loading LOGO immediately max 1-1.5 sec, i'm afraid.

This is happening at shutdown as well, after pressing shutdown, firstly a Black screen appear for a few seconds and then my vaio is shutting down., I guess there is something changed in Bios, maybe by Local repairers.

Please be advised, Thanks, Levan.

Answer:SONY VAIO Slows At Start Up, Before SONY Logo Loads.

If I'm understanding correctly, your Vaio is taking about 7-8 seconds longer to start. At shutdown you're getting a black screen and it's taking a few seconds longer than what you're used to. But is everything else in between (opening programs, searching on the internet, etc) working OK?

If it is, my first reaction is to say don't worry about it. I have a VPCEB47GM and it takes about 10 seconds for the Sony logo to appear and about 50 seconds total to be able to use Windows 7. On shutdown I usually get a black screen for about 5 seconds but the rest of the shutdown process takes about 30 seconds to finish.

Do you know what your BIOS settings were before you took the machine into the repair shop? If you do, you could compare them to how the BIOS is set now. But if you don't know how the BIOS was originally configured, I wouldn't be changing anything.

I am seeking advice here to solve a problem with internet connection on my laptop.
The laptop (Thinkpad X61 running 32 bit Vista) seems to be ok to connect to my router, which is connected to a cable modem. Internet is also connected on the base level (more details below). However Internet Explorer (or firefox, opera) cannot find any web page, and Mozilla Thunderbird email program cannot connect to email server.
I am decently ok with computers, so I have run some checks myself. This is not a problem of router or cable modem, as my other computers can access internet through the same router and modem. Also, the laptop gets an IP address from the router and can connect to shared resources on other computers within the same network.
The laptop also finds outside addresses and get a response when I run ping command, e.g. ping www.google.com or ping www.yahoo.com, suggesting that the connection to DNS server is fine at the base level.
I was suspecting that windows firewall, my Symantec antivirus or VPN is creating the problem. But the problem persists after I disabled firewall and the antivirus software and deleted VPN connection.
One important thing to mention is that this problem starts when after a software install, which I removed afterwards. I tried to run netsh reset by "netsh winsock reset catalog", "netsh int ipv4 reset myreset.log" and "netsh int ipv6 reset myreset.log" and restart. Still does not work.
Really desperate for a solution. Any ... Read more

Hello,

I'm trying to install a toshiba MK4018GAP 40GB hard drive into this little machine. THe bios is updated and the bios always posts the HD as
65535MB or C/H/S 22272; 15; 63 (10776MB)
I enter C/H/S as; 16383; 16; 63 (8455MB)

ONE IMPORTANT FACT: I do not have the CDROM for this machine. I have the floppy though.
I've tried Partition magic8, BootBG, MBRtool, another words, I have about 45 disks piled infront of me and nothing seems to get this to boot into anything or save a proper MBR.

It partitions and runds absolutely fine (of course) n my desktop PC with an adaptor and then POOF!, nothing when it goes back into the notebook. I understand that WINxpSp2 hates the HD shuffle from machine to machine, but that is certianly not the issue here.

Toshiba took the drive back at the drive service center and sent it back cleared for take off saying there was nothing wrong.
I do notice when I use the windows MMC snap on for hard drive management that it puts the LBA equivelants in brackets as a note for me.) Still the note book refuses to see the drive or any partitions I've added.

Can anyone please boil this down for me? I'm nuts over it and about to send the HD for a swim in the ocean here in South Miami Beach. The time I've soent certianly outways just buying another drive. But it seems a senseless waste to do that. The original drive. IBM Travelstar 6.49 GB died on the previous owner.

Thanks folks,

Feeling crazy in SOBE.

James

I used to be able to transfer videos from my tape to my laptop, but because of changes in the flash players this is no longer possible. I read that the solution is to use PMB. I installed all the files without any problems, but when I try to use PMB I get a message that the side-by-side configuration is incorrect. I have no idea what this means.

I just bought a Sony Vaio Laptop model VGN-FZ430E with windows vista home premium. The explorer browser always opens to a sony/aol webpage. I correct this problem with the standard methods in the explorer tools section and in the homepage icon. It works fine when I close IE and reopen the browser. However, when I shut off the computer and restart it, the homepage is back to the AOL page. Any thoughts on how this can be fixed? Have already spoken with Sony tech support and they were no help whatsoever.

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to install WIN Pro on my sony PCG-NV170. It's three days now. I think I have a bald spot ....grr. I totally wiped the hard drive( due to a virus)with a download of KillDisc. Then I tried to use the first of three recovery discs. It would not accept it. I then tried to install WIN XP Pro and it said the partition was not formatted. I tried formatting with XP Pro abd it formatted up to 20%. It then said "Setup was unable to format the partiton. The disk may be damaged. Make sure the drive is switched onand properly connected to you computer. If the dis is a SCSI disk, make sure your SCSI devices are properly terminated. Consult your computer manual or SCSI adapter documentation for more info.
Can you please suggest something that I can do to get my laptop up and running.
Thank you,
Melimar

Windows Updates

There's usually quite a few to download after a fresh install. They may have a driver for your sound that is more compatible.

I have an internal IDE Sony CDU311-GI 8x CD-ROM, but I'm having a bit of trouble making it work. When I plug it into my computer, it comes on (the light comes on) and I can hear it (or watch is, when I have the cover off) search for any CD's. However, when I get into Windows 98, I can put a CD into the CD-ROM, but it skims to see if I put a CD in and when I click on drive D: (my CD-ROM drive), it says "Drive not ready" I thought the lens may be dirty, which would cause exactly the problem I'm having, but I cleaned it and it still does the same exact thing.

Does anybody have any idea why this would happen?

Thank you for your help!

Answer:Sony CDU311-GI CD-ROM Problem

Considering the age of the drive, I would guess that it is just dead. They don't last forever unfortunately.

The only other real test you can do is boot with a floppy that has your CD Drivers on it. If it does the same thing there, it's time for a new drive.
