Colour Separation (again)

Question: Colour Separation (again)

Hi there - I'm trying to print out a document using colour separation in Publisher and or Serif Pageplus...I can print in colour normally, but when I try to print to Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black all I get is black and white printouts of varying magnitide. Only the composite looks and prints out in colour. Is this what I should be expecting?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Colour Separation (again)

What you are getting are the instructions for colour separation printing machines - as used by larger scale commercial printers. These printers operate by inking the sheet in three (or four) separate processes each process using a different colour - CYM(K). Traditionally, these separations were for preparing silk screens and there was no requirement for colour information within the file. So, if you are trying to print these separations on a normal SOHO printer, there is no instruction in the files for them to be printed in any other colour than black. On a computer controlled colour spearation printer, the instruction for the separation print normally readable only with specific software.Do you have a good reason to print in colour separation? If not, I would leave well alone because without appropriate equipment i.e. at least a colour separation printer, you could end up in a real mess and very confused.

I'm in a pickle...I'm a teacher and use the Serif Programs - Webplus, PagePlus and Photoplus at school...I could do with a program which colour separates into the component colours - CMYK - Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and something! Is there any freeware computer program which can break a document down into four separate pages which can then be saved?Does this make sense (I do hope so!) I wonder whether anyone knows of a program (not too expensive) that will separate a .pdf page, flipped by Photoshop Elements 6, into Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black for making plates for colour printing. Adobe Photoshop is the only one I have found so far that would do it, but 600 is rather over my budget.

Hi there gurus.
My pc doesn?t show certain colour objects in Publisher 2007 and some on-line sites. Overall, the screen colour is very good. I know the fault is localised, because when I switch to Print Preview in Publisher it looks fine and I can see all the object colours. (I only lose the colour with objects, not text)
Also, when I send a copy of a Publisher page to my partner who is on the same PC, it looks fine on her screen.
I?ve tried going to Install/uninstall programs and run the Repair, but to no avail. The guys in my computer shop are clueless without seeing it. Anyone who can help solve this for me is a gem.
Cheers!

What's cheaper: colour laser with genuine ink or colour inkjet with compatible inks?

I'm happy to invest in buying a colour laser: but I can't find any refills for lasers
At least they don't seem to be widely available

So, my choice is: colour laser + genuine inks or colour inkjet + compatible inks

From what I know, side by side: laser's are cheaper
But, how about when compared to genuine laser ink to compatible colour inkjet inks?

I should stress that for me needs, I am not overly concerned if using compatibles doesn't give me perfect results - just close as possible is fine for me

What's more important probably is speed of print at highest quality

ANY feedback would be great

Thanks

Answer:What's cheaper: colour laser with genuine ink or colour inkjet with ink compatibles?

Finding Compatible Remanufactured Color Toner cartridges can be dicey. While they may be available, the problem may end up being the company tht does the remanufaturing. It is also dependant upon the model printer you get. I have noticed that the savings on my Black Canon X-25 toner cartridge is only about $12 lower than the cost of a Factory original cartridge. There are sites that I would save up to $30 per cartridge, but part of this is eaten up by the shipping charges. For my toner cartridge, I am about 1/2 mile from the store that does nothing but ink and toner refill services, and their garauntee thier cartridges 100%. In 3 years I have only had to return one cartridge and it was an HP #17 Color cartridge.

Now per page printing cost on a laser is much cheaper than on an inkjet. Though the printer cost itself is usually much higher for a Laser. Personally I use the laser much more than than my Inkjet, but I do use the inkjet for all color printing. But then 95% of my printing is monochrome text.

I've set up a network with several workgroups. Each user in a workgroup is connected through a switch and all switches are connected together to share the internet connection. I now need to separate the workgroups so that a user in one workgroup can't see a user in a different workgroup but yet each has access to the internet connection. There's no server on the network so I need to know can this be done using software or maybe some kind of firewalled switches?

Thank you

Question: Photo Separation

This is probably a stupid question bit here it goes. If digital photos are taken at different times is there a program that will separate them out? Say a set of pictures were taken in July 2005 and another set Sept. 2007 and they are mixed. Now add about ten other dates and mix. Is the only way to separate them is by eye?

Question: Decimal separation

On my XP laptop (Windows XP Professional Vs 5.1 (SP3) I'am not able to open an accounting proggy (Exact for Windows which is an accounting package). Although used for years it now returns a warning saying: The following data is invalid: settings (decimal separation). By clicking OK the proggy is gone (return to an empty screen).
So I thought maybe I have to change the regional settings. I tried to change the regional options (Standards and formats) from English (United States) into Dutch (Netherlands) but the system doesn't allow me. After switching to my choice (Dutch), apply, OK it hasn't been changed at all.
Now the questions:
- Can this be the reason why my proggy isn't working?
- If YES (or maybe): How to change these settings

Tx in advance for your co?peration and help, regards,

Hi, I'm using the Aerolite theme with Aeroglass, and want a consistent colour for the borders. So I set accent colour from background 'off' and choose the colour. Fine so far.

Now that's ok if I log off and on.

But if I sleep or hibernate (not personally ) and then resume, the colour and setting are lost.

I noticed that on resuming, the border colour is present until the 'Please wait' screen appears, after which these settings are lost.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Is there a way to have different settings in XP?

I have two profiles, or users: Me and my wife.

I use Outlook, she uses Outlook Express. I want my display to be 1600x1200, she prefers 1024x768.

Now, when I set my preferences while I am logged in, it carries over to her account when she logs in. The resolution carries over and the default mail handler dialog box comes up again (although I can disable it, it is not the solution I was looking for).

I hope there is a registry fix someone knows about, or better yet, a control panel setting.

Hi all. I got an x201t almost a month ago, and I recently sent it in to repair an issue with a separating bezel. Basically, it's almost the same problem that plagued the x61t, but there was no ungluing process--there was just a gap. Some pics: and more here and here. After getting it back from the depot, I found that they crammed some glue in the center to leverage it up to match the gaps on the sides. There's also a black piece of plastic in there, between the two layers of glue. What's the deal with that? Is this the "fix"? Is it still possible to get it properly done at a certified local place? Thanks.

Answer:X201T Bezel Separation

Well, I went to a local place, and they can't fix it because of the white adhesive the depot technician applied. Called tech support, and now I'm waiting on that escalated call back. It'd be nice if any of the Lenovo admins on the forum could help with the situation--it's absurd that they would refuse to replace the bezel on a new tablet with a quality control problem and instead do this duct tape fix.

Hi,

I finally saved up enough money for a new thinkpad after about five-ish years and I was quite impressed wiith my new X220. then all of a sudden yesterday the top of the lid starts falling off. It's hard to explain where without looking at an x220. Unlike other thinkpads, the x220 seems to have two peices on the lid/screen. one large and one very small strip at the top. About yesterday mine seemed to loose it's glue and is bending and starting to come off.

What can I do? Will Lenovo repair it for me? Are there repair centers that I could have it fixed at? is this enough to get a new laptop?

As I said I just got it, it is under warranty and has even been less than 30 days.

What should I do?

I almost can't believe this, but yet an entirely new class of problem on my w510... The front plastic moulding on the top corners (both left, and right) is starting to separate away from the main screen case.  The separation is wide enough that I can actually see light through the gaps.  For the life of me I can't believe there isn't some sort of adhesive or screws there to keep it together. I can only assume this will be an entry point fo dust, etc. Can people reading this with w510's take a look at theirs and see if they too have any separation, maybe run a finger nail there and see if it feels "loose" at all? FWIW, I have the 1680x900 (HD+) version.

Hi, I would like to Clean Install another machine of mine. I recently download another .Iso file of Windows 8 x64/x86, I can't probably boot it. Because, I only got 4 gigabytes of USB. So, my question is.. How can I separate the x64 and x86. So I can boot it today. Thanks! :3

Answer:Hi, Windows 8 x64/86 iso file separation

I haven't seen an ISO image of any windows OS that had both x86 and x64 bundled together. I have every windows OS ever released and they have always been in separate disk or in separate ISO files. Unless you have some kind of disk that offers both upon booting you probably have either one or the other. If ou believe you have the x86 version you will need to simply download the x64 version.

I have a Windows XP machine which I'm told must connect to an NT server because the server is connected to a printer I use. When I logon, I use a network domain associated with the NT server. The problem is that I notice packets are being sent from the NIC card when I'm browsing in My Documents or using my machine locally, and I'm assuming that information is making it back to the server. I only want to send documents to the NT printer, and nothing else, as I do not use the server for storage. Any thoughts on how to do keep local information local and still use the network printer? Thanks.

Answer:XP/NT Separation-printer issues

If you choose to connect to a network, you must be willing to allow your machine to do what it takes to be a participant in that network. However, the usual network chatter does not expose much information. What is it that you're trying to protect?

The usual recourse here is to install a firewall that allows you to control access on a per-port basis. You then need to manually set up rules to determine what is allowed and what isn't. This tends to be a trial-by-error process since you'll probably start off by blocking everything and then unblocking ports on an as-needed basis.

If you take this route, I suggest that you consult the forums for that particular firewall (such as vendor-hosted forums or Wilders security forums).

If you haven't already done so, you might want to look into the Wireshark network sniffer so that you can see exactly what's going on.

Ok people I need some help, and the answer may be a simple uninstall and reinstall office. I prefer not to but will at this point.

Outlook is giving me headache. No, aspirin will not cut it, well unless it will send my e-mails without short circuiting Outlook.

The program opens fine. When I hit the send/receive button it checks my e-mail accounts and retrieves my mail. This works with no problems almost always.

However, when I compose a message and then hit send, more often than not, Outlook just freezes up. It won't send the messages. When I restart, usually the message is not even in the outbox or drafts folder. After shutting it down, just the program not the PC, and restarting a couple of times, I can usually send my message.

Anybody know what could be causing this. FYI, whenever I go to type a new message, I get a window that says a program is trying to acces my e-maill addresses stored in outlook. Don't know if this helps.

Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi All,
My question is about thermal compound and processors.
I built my system in March of 2006. Here are the specs:

2.0 GHz Athlon 64 Venice
Asus A8N nForce Ultra
1 GB DDR2 (Corsair)
80 GB Western Digital Caviar
eVGA 6600GT
NEC 16X DVD-R

System runs fine, no problems, but lacks the speed to power through newer applications.
I bought my processor when it was new, but not at the top of the charts. I?d like to upgrade, but I don?t want to throw away a perfectly good processor.

I?m planning on giving it to a friend, but they want to use a different cooling system than the stock heatsink/fan currently attached. I used a bit of Arctic Silver 5 when I attached the heatsink, and I was careful not to use too much. Now, I?m worried about what will happen when it?s time to separate them.

How strong has the bond between the heatsink/processor become?
Can they be separated?
Is there a safe way to separate them?
Is there a solvent that can help the separation that won?t damage the processor?
If they can be separated, is there a good way to remove the remaining compound off the processor?
Are there special tools that I should use? Guessing that hammer/screwdriver is not the way to go.

Would appreciate any help or advice.
Thanks.

Answer:Separation Anxiety: Processor & Heatsink

The arctic silver bond is not very strong.

Remove the screws that fasten the clamps that hold the heatsink to the CPU.

Now, GENTLY twist the heatsink. It will come free from the CPU.

Now you need ArcticCLEAN part 1, thermal material remover and part 2, thermal surface purifier to clean and reuse both the heatsink and the CPU.

And some more Arctic silver or other thermal paste.

Arctic silver is very over-rated.

Earlier this year, some of our customers noticed that the plastic trim bezel began separating from the LCD on some models of the X61 tablet and began discussing it in forums here, and subsequently refined the issue a bit more in this thread here, and this one here. Some of our customers shared their observations through comments here on Lenovoblogs, and engadget's coverage of the story broadened awareness still further.
As we investigated the underlying cause of the issue that affected a minority of the X61 tablets, we advised the community to seek service if they experienced the bezel separation and found the issue distracting.  We also advised that existing repair parts of that time might not provide a permanent fix in all cases, and our engineering teams were working toward that goal.   We appreciated the patience and help provided by those that documented their experiences, and in some cases, shared their systems with us for analysis. Thank you.
We have released a fix in the form of a revised bezel, with thicker adhesive tape designed to compensate for the somewhat thinner SXGA+ display.  These parts are now in stock, and are being applied through normal service routes.  Additional information including service part numbers may be found here.
Customers who have an X61t system with a separating bezel should seek service at this time through all normal channels including depot, onsite, or through business part... Read more

There are now many different ways of separating Users' data from the rest of the system data usually to another drive. Sevenforums has excellent tutorials on each, so let's put together some data about the pros and cons of them all....

In no particular order :User Profiles - Create and Move During Windows 7 Installation - By Kari - This one moves the ENTIRE users folder using sysprep. Complete and supported, but blocks upgrades and refresh (windows 8)
User Folders - Change Default Location - By Brink - This one moves those user's folders (C:\Users\{username}) created AFTER the edit to another location. Less drastic, not supported (involves registry editing), and still blocks upgrades and refresh. Corollary : User Folders - Moving User Folders by Modular Script - By Alain Quarr? - Also changes the symlinked shortcuts, and sets permissions, and lots of other small things that can make it perfect.
User Folders - Change Default Location - By Brink - Moves all the folders inside the profile (Documents, Desktop, etc.) to a different location. Supported, no system-level downsides (need to test this), but labour intensive... Also, AppData continues to grow.
Funnily, you CAN move AppData folders, properties applet of Local, LocalLow, and Roaming have a Location tab, where you can choose a different place, and move it. Supported, no system-level downsides (? need to test this), but labour intensive... Also, not sure if it's a good idea... Is AppData user data or system data?

Left hinge issue - the very same I have been reading about in this blog. I purchased my beloved laptop in August of 2013, it is NOT a refurbished item ; it is the Beats Audio version. This is the second time this has happened to my laptop, the first time was about 1.5 years ago. An excellent service technician at Future Shop was able to take the back off to find the tiny screw that had worked its way out, there wasn't even a charge for the service. I miss this technician, she was the best one I have ever dealt with. Before this issue my warranty was coming up so I took it in for a tune up. I mentioned I was having issues with the sound; I thought it was a software issue, it wasn't. They ended up sending it back to HP, the motherboard was replaced. Now the left hinge is gone again, this time I am told that HP doesn't have replacement parts as now small pieces have broken off inside. My option is to have it glued with no guarantee.I NEED my laptop. I can't afford a new one as I graduated from college a few months ago with no job yet. What are my options; can I have another one built from the good parts?

I just bought a new notebook with Vista Home Premium preinstalled, but ran into a problem with the hard drive. It has one 120GB drive (I assume), but it's separated into two parts. One part of the drive has Vista on it and the other is labeled "back up", which unfortunately contains the majority of the storage space. I'm in the process of installing a number of games which require large storage space, and the Vista portion of the drive is filling up fast. I'm quite new to the OS, so I don't want to mess with anything up by moving program files or components over to the other drive portion. Is there any way that I can safely transfer program files and functions over to the other drive, or better yet integrate the two? Thanks in advance.

I am working on a customer's X1 Carbon (34608G1). Upon inspection of the computer I discovered that the display on the left side separated causing the display to detach from the hinge assembly. There are no signs of damage. The  2 brass colored fasteners appeared to have released themselves from the collars molded in the plastics of the inside of the lid portion of the display. Since this happened, my client, was able to save one of the brass fasteners which I pushed back into that molded collar. When I screw the screw back into the fastener, the brass fitting slides back out. I have contacted the Lenovo Service Desk in Atlanta, GA.They sent me a display screw kit 4W3917 and hinge assembly 4W3905. The issue is the hinge itself is fine. It is those fasteners that are the issue. Today, I called back to the Lenovo Service Desk in Atlanta, GA. with a new incident number.  I too am having problems with my ENVY  dv7 17" notebook, with the case separating, except it's the RIGHT hinge. After reading many complaints in Forums here and elsewhere, I've gotten very discouraged that HP would do anything  to remedy my problem. Yet, I see here that a few people have achieved satisfaction by getting their computers fixed for no charge. My problem is no different than theirs, so there is no reason that I should be denied the same stand-up service. I've been a longtime HP customer, but this hinge problem has me and my computer reaching the breaking point. Must I spend hours on the phone seeking a solution to this problem? I think you have the ability and good sense to fix the problem ASAP.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details). If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

I have a single field in an Access 2003 Database which contains name and address info and looks like this:

John Smith
123 Main Street
Apt 3B
Philadelphia, PA 19125

I am trying to figure out how to separate the single field into the following fields:

[FirstName]
[LastName]
[Address1]
[Address2]
[City]
[State]
[Zip]

Has anyone ever encountered this situation and already written code for it? I would ideally like to end up with the data for each field in a separate Dim Variable so I can put the end separated values into their approiate fields directly on the open Access form.

Answer:VBA Access 2003 Field Separation

Ahhhh to write code great skill to have but for what you need to do lets keep the task at hand simple...
unless this is a project for a computer course
1 Copy and paste your single column of names and address's etc into a single column in Xcel.
2. Be sure there is a space between the appropriate data segements within each cell example john smith 13 simple str apt 3b anytown st zip.
3. Highlight column
4. Click the Data pull down menu chose text to column feature then make sure you choose the file type "Delimited" then click next
5. you then must choose in the Delimiters option only "Space" and click finish.

This will of course give you exactly what you want but will seperate the street number from the street name and the apt from the apt number.

Save your spread sheet and import it into access.

I have a HP HDX9300 Pavilion laptop, serial # CND5341KKX that I purchased from Best Buy on 10/01/2015.  Through NORMAL daily usage, the bottom left part of the screen has separated and now will not turn on.  I took the laptop back to Best Buy  on 8/21/2016 since it should still be under the manufacturer 1 year warranty.  They are unwilling to submit this is a warranty repair due to "physical" damage.   I am seeing that this is a recurring issue with some of the HP laptops, and I'm wondering why it would not be considered a warranty issue since this is obviously a design issue?  I am in complete disagreement with Best Buy as this issue was not of my own doing and is a known HP issue.  I'm running out of time and I need to know if HP will honor their product warranty.  Can someone with HP please contact me asap?

HI
i have built in speakers in my monitor
when i play a movie\presantation all is well
when i disconnect vga cable their's no sound from the built in speakers - although audio cable is connected to the monitor.
how can i hear sound from built in speakers although vga is disconnected? i need it for another monitor.
i didn't found something in vga properties or monitor properties.

Answer:Monitors speakers output Separation

sounds like to me that when the VGA cable is removed the "no signal" state it goes into also stops audio output. If its designed this way i cant think of a work around.

A cheap set of pc speakers will cost you less than ?10/$10

Answer:Screen colour to match magazine colour?

I found the easiest way to achieve this was to print the picture and then adjust my screen to match. Once you've adjusted the screen all future pictures which look too light or dark, on screen, can be adjusted to suit within your software.

Hi Allhope someone more knowledgable can advise - I recently purchased a Lexmark x500n multifunction colour laser printer - I had a big black print job to do excel and word - 2000 pages - i was shocked to see that - ok the black starter cartridge of 2500 pages was nearly empty- fair enough - but all three colour cartridges (1500 page size) were nearly all empty too - I hadn't done any colour printing but when i contacted the manuf they advised that the printer uses colour also to print black!! - it's getting returned to them - but do do all colour lasers do this - obviously this quadruples the costs of printing and has put my costing out of the window!! - any advice would be great - it's a network colour printer, with copier and scanner that I need - a fax would be great but not essential.thanks in advanceTrifly

Answer:COLOUR LASER - PRINTING BLACK USING COLOUR!!

That would pee me off no end. How in God's name can it use colour to create black when there's a black cartridge in there? A cheapo mono laser seems to be your ideal tool. I know nothing about colour laser printers, but is there an option anywhere in the settings to print using only the black cartridge? Does the printer still work if you take out the colour cartridge while printing only black text documents?

Hello friends,
I was just thinking that wouldn't it be great if we get more color options to change the background color on our Windows Phone devices than just black or white as we get on Windows 8.1 devices to customize background color along with tile colour?

I personally like the black and white, but I saw a mockup of a dim tropical photo in place of the black and it looked quite beautiful.

Hello.

I seriously need help with my PC. I've reinstalled Windows XP and Service Pack 2, and I can't chnge the Screen resolution or the colour quality. It sucks. The resolution stays at 800x600, the lowest possible, and the colour quality stays at 8 bit. I think I have a ATI 128 MB DDR Radeon 9800 Pro. I dunno whether thats a driver or what. And I also don't know my graphics card, or whether that will help at all.

I would swear at this point but I'm too young.

Oh but I'll use this instead

Has anyone got any help for me that I can understand. I'm 14 but I still can understand most computer talk.

Anyway thanks very much for reading all this crap and please try not to point out all my spelling mistakes.

Heya, welcome to the forums

Okay, it has to do with your drivers. Go to ATI's website and find your driver.

Here's the link

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html

Please download and install both the Control Center as well as the Display driver. Then restart your computer and try to change the resolution.

Cheers!

Has anyone else had screen separation problems with the X200T? After much anticipation, my X200T arrived yesterday.  After unpacking it and starting it up, I noticed that the casing around the screen at the bottom near the microphone on the right is swollen and sits about a millimetre or two away from the screen itself.  It's particularly noticeable given that the rest of the screen sits flush against the casing (I have the basic WXGA model, no LED backlighting or touch).  This seems to be the same separation problem that plagued the X61T. Very disappointed that the product has arrived in this condition, given that it was a common flaw with an older model that had been acknowledged some time ago I am now trying to ascertain what my options are in terms of returning the product for a refund, or having it replaced under warranty.

Hi - I'm semi-proficient with excel, and I'm actually working on creating some dashboard reports at this time.

One problem I'm having is separating some of the data from a specific column. Let me give you an example:

9/1/2009 14:14 8/28/2009 7:33 7/17/2009 14:29 9/11/2009 12:28 9/11/2009 12:19 9/10/2009 18:53 9/11/2009 13:17 9/11/2009 13:27 9/10/2009 13:19 9/11/2009 13:08 9/11/2009 8:29 9/11/2009 13:01 9/11/2009 13:11 9/11/2009 2:00 7/22/2009 13:31 9/11/2009 13:04
This column has over 2600 lines, this is just a sample. What I need to do is break this column out by month, and show how many dates are from the last month, the last 2-3 months and the ones that are 3+ months in the past. Of course I want the sheet to show this info automatically, so it has to know the current date which I can do by placing the formula "=TODAY()".

So, what I'm asking for is what formula (and format) would I use to count how many cells in this column fall into each of date ranges I mentioned.

Also, I did manage to use the =DAYS360(A6,C9) (for example) where A6= "=Today()" and C9= "9/10/2009 13:19" above. This information is in cells next to the above data as follows:

-13 -16 -57 -3 -3 -4 -3 -3 -4 -3 -3 -3 -3 -3 -52 -3

So I figured out how to list how many days I have since the date in the first column, but not how to break them apart within the column.

Hopefully this is enough information to request some help, but if you need more info pl... Read more

My Envy 17's  left hinge has come adrift and is causing the case to separate. There are no loose plastic pieces in the case or fan issues yet.We are leaving the top open; it is no longer a portable laptop. Through searching I have learned this is a common and long time issue starting with prior laptops models. This premuim and expensive latop is just over 2 years old and has been kindly treated; never dropped.I have been a long time HP customer. Today I spent over 30 minutes & 2 phone calls with HP Techical and Customer service ultimately being 'dropped' both times during transfers. I'm hoping this forum's moderators will do better. Yes, the laptop is no longer under warranty but this is a long term well known design weakness.I expect to hear from HP with a  no-cost to me repair solution.Per HP's motto they are "Here to keep you happy; And your PC, too" I will provide updates to this issue.

Is there any minimum physical distance that I need to keep between two wireless access points? One will be running in 802.11b only mode on Channel 6 and the other will be running 802.11n/g/b mixed mode on Channel 11.

I have found some on line information that references an FCC requirement for a minimum separation of 20 cm (7.9 inches) between device antennas. Can I really put two wireless routers that close to each other or should I separate them further apart for more reliable operation?

Hello, I am posting on behalf of my mom. Similar to some complaints of the Yoga Series her IdeaPad 720s screen is beginning to separate from the panel. Because I seldom ever use her laptop I've not really noticed. While trying to figure out an issue shes been having with some work software (electronic health records), I noticed that the bottom of the panel (in between the rubber seal and hinge area) is slightly exposed and is showing some of the innards of the laptop. She doesn't have the greatest eye sight, so she hasn't noticed. Is anyone else having these issues? Is there a fix or am I going to have to RMA the unit? She's only had the unit for about a month and a half.

I have encountered the same problem as others in this forum. The base of my laptop has started to separate in the upper left hand corner next to the hinge. I can push it closed when the laptop is closed, but it separated again when I open the laptop. My laptop has never been dropped or damaged in any other way.

Hi,
Assuming I'm posting this is in the correct forum, I have a quick question: is there any way to insert visible line/paragraph breaks in a text file? Sometimes I paste a long passage of text into a text editor (notepad, notepad++, whatever) and it removes all paragraph spacing. It's not all one, big paragraph. It just has all the blank lines between paragraphs removed. I realize I can correct this by opening Word and use the "replace" function to accomplish the restoration of the extra line break. I'm just wondering -- since I've never found an answer to this question anywhere -- specifically whether it's possible to add the paragraph spacing **within a text editor itself** somehow.
Thanks. :-)

I have a Lenovo Lenovo Edge 15 laptop which has developed an issue with the display case (the clamshell) around the display panel separating.  When opening up the laptop after pulling it out of the laptop case, the outer shell (the back cover) has separated from the bezel.  It's still under warranty.  Took it to the "Geek Squad" at the Best Buy where I purchased the laptop, and they said it would likely be attributed to "accidental damage", and thus I would be charged for repairs.  There's no accidental damage involved here.  The laptop has been trasnported in a laptop bag when not in use.  It hasn't been dropped, or anything like that.

Has anyone else had similar issues?

While I know there must be a logical solution to this problem, I am yet to see it...

I have a network with 9 computers. These computers are connected with a D-Link Switch through a patch panel. Internet and DHCP is retrieved from an ADSL modem connected to the switch. From the beginning this network was poorly installed. The technician was up late working and made many stupid mistakes. His wiring was atrocious, poorly planned, and a monkey could have done a better job. He even put the power cables in the same conduit as the CAT5 running parallel... Anyway, each computer is connected with a patch cable connected to an ethernet outlet on the wall. This of course terminates at the patch panel, then connecting to the switch. 7/8 computers work fine, but the last one (imagine they are all positioned in a straight line) will not connect. The NIC cannot see the switch.

Logically, that would implicate a faulty NIC, patch cable, outlet, patch board connection, or switch jack. This is where it gets interesting... Moving the 8th computer and connecting directly to the switch, the NIC connects to the network with no problems. That rules out the NIC and the switch port. If I take computer 7, and connect it to computer 8's wall jack, it also connects fine... This should rule out the jack, patch board, and any wiring inbetween. Now, what is left to troubleshoot? Computer 8 has no problem if connected directly to the switch, but does not see a cable connection i... Read more

Dear all
i am trying to separate the front and back end of my access database . so that the tables are placed at one separate location and the .mde files can be distributed to users .
BUT the problem is that,

1) i dont know how to build this server/client stuff.
2) how can i make my .mde file (which at the moment is accessing data from its own tables) fetch data from another computer on the network.
for instance lets take the northwind database , it takes data from its own tables. what are the modifications which i can apply to it.

Answer:access front and backend separation, server client development

That's an easy one

(although this isn't strictly speaking client/server design, but its what you're asking for, and something I've done before)

1) Create a network location that everyone who needs to access the database can access in the same way (i.e. the same drive letter)
2) Create a copy of your database in that location
3) Delete all queries, forms, macros, reports etc from the "back-end" database copy
4) Delete all the tables from your "front-end" database copy
5) Create table links in your "front-end" database to the "back-end" (In Access 2007, this is "External data" \ "Access" \ "Link to the datasource"... in Access 2003 its on the file menu I think "File \ get external data \ link tables"

That'll get you the "front-end" \ "back-end" split, then to create an MDE file you just need to go to "Database tools \ Make MDE" and save this and send it to your users.

I have a new Dell Inspiron 7000 (7579), purchased Feb 2017. Actually two of them. Same results on both laptops. When I use headphones, signals from both the right track and left track come out of both sides of the headphones. I have gone through every setting that I can find. Settings are set to stereo, and there are no enhancements on.
The tracks play out of the speakers as split tracks. The tracks play out of the HDMI port properly, as well as USB playback devices.
I have tried multiple sets of headphones. Identical tracks and headphones work properly on other older laptops and other equipment. (I am an audio engineer for a living).
Any help is appreciated.

I'll start by saying this, I have never dropped this laptop. I am willing to photograph every inch of it to prove that case.
A few months after buying I noticed that every time I lifted the screen, using only the amount of pressure necessary to do so, the casing began to split at the base where the hinges attached. After having the laptop sent to Dell "support" I was told that I had caused the damage and it wasn't covered by their warranty. Funny though, because with some basic searching I found out that this problem is pretty rampant with the inspiron 7559 model. But of course, just because hundreds of people have the same issue and have even posted photos like mine, its still my fault and has nothing to do with a faulty design. So after refusing to pay the $160, they shipped it back and the best part is, I HAD TO RE-ATTACH THE ****ING KEYBOARD. They couldn't even be bothered to put the thing back together again properly. Don't buy a Dell. Just don't do it.

Hello guys, Wondering if you can help me with the following issues.. This is regarding x61t (7764CTO) unit. 1) BezelI purchased my x61t around end of July 2008. Upon receiving the unit I immediately noticed that the bezel was separating (but wasn't sure if I was one of many affected ppl until I did a bit of research & compared my unit to few other identical x61ts...). Basically, the bottom of the plastic hinge, when in portrait mode, separates and when I press down on it, it stays in contact with the LCD panel for few seconds and pops back up. This is covered by warranty, am I correct? What is the usual turnaround time?Im a bit surprised as this issue was raised during early this year...don't units that shipped later(including mine?) use the newer bezels? 2) latchmy double-sided latch has come off completely yesterday when I was changing from portrait to normal mode. From what I see on this forum so far Im under impression that latch breaking off is considered customer abuse regardless of the cause. How much does lenovo charge for such in this case? Or is this covered? Much thanks in advance, -Brian-Message Edited by Kitsunedon on 11-19-2008 06:07 PM

Answer:HELP - X61t loose bezel (bezel separation) & broken latch problem

Brian, Welcome to the forum! Does your tablet have the SXGA+ screen or the multi-touch?  The updates to the bezel were exclusive to those models with SXGA+ units and were found to dramatically reduce the occurance of separation.   Some rare occurances are still possible on both models, and in my opinion are likely caused by a combination of assembly process, and the possibility of some tolerance in the bezel parts - notably where the adhesive is applied. (if the lower adhesive strip is set too low, less than 1/2 of it's surface area makes contact, dramatically reducing holding power) This should be a warranted item. The latch would need to be addressed based upon inspection of the assembly, and whether there are signs of impact, etc to the case that would indicate the unit had suffered some form of impact. Service will need to make the call on that as to whether warranty or non - warranty in nature.  I might suggest consulting with a warranty authorized business partner, as while the bezel is removed, it would be a good time to replace the latch.  Replacing the latch requires the bezel to be removed, and a service provider should replace rather than re-use the bezel once removed. Hope that helps! Mark

Hi,

I know some basic stuff about computers, but I don't know how to fix this problem.

I have Windows XP. Firstly, the computer started running slower than usual for a while (a few weeks), then one day when I started the computer up, a screen came up in the DOS bit at the start asking me what mode I wanted to start in as there was a problem. I selected the option (and Im paraphrasing here) 'The last good configuration' as it seemed best. From then on, the colour went to 4 bit, and an 800x600 resolution. I can't change these settings as I normally would, as there are no other options available. I can use the computer fairly normally, except the awful colour and res. However, if the screensaver comes on, and I re-activate the screen, it will be totally messed up - the edges puffed out like a pincushion setting, black and white, lines travelling down the screen and flickering, sometimes going totally black then coming back again.

My housemate started the computer up and somehow got the original DOS screen back asking which mode to start in - he selected 'safe mode' and the colour was then good - except the internet then wouldn't connect. (I have broadband so it's normally automatic - I don't know how to connect it manually)

This is my brother's computer, so I don't know a lot about it - programs and so on - he's un-contactable at the moment and will be for a couple of months... I'd greatly appreciate any he... Read more

I like using "windguru" for forecasting the weather. Based in the Czech Republic, they're usually spot on which is more than I can say for the local effort.

Until recently I used Netscape 7.2 and subsequent to that Opera vers 11. These both colour coded the wind speeds and gusts and the expected temperatures; you know ranging from blue for cold to red for hot. For various reasons I have had to make use of IE-8. I can't get anything in colour. Temperatures and wind speeds are just black numerals on a white background. I've searched through IE's options but can't find any tweak to resolve this. Hello,I am new to the Acer forum and this is my first post. Good to be here. I have an Acer pc which will be a year old next month. Recently, I have been able to print in black and white only. No colour. The test page from the printer is in colour. Device Manager does not tell me I need new drivers. Could there be another problem I have overlooked? Will welcome your input.Thanks.CarleySr. AcerPC,64 bitIntel i54440, Win 8.1ITB hard driveNon-touch Emsisoft Antimalware and Antivirus

Answer:256 colour

Quote from: blackrainbow on June 17, 2010, 08:31:21 AMmobile intel 915 gsm chipsetThe problem most likely lies in this, as the Intel chipsets are not designed for 3D gaming and can't handle the stress. You're probably right, it's not a driver issue, it's a hardware one. It's not a problem, it's just that you've reached the limit to what the Intel video chipset can do.

Hi There,

I have a dell inspiron 6000 with mobile intel chipset 9145. I am trying to play TV out, but whenever i attach it to the TV - i am only getting black and white. I have tried changing the colour adminstration within properties to kodakdc and srgb colour space profile but i am still having the same problems.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:Tv out Has No Colour

It could be a PAL/NTSC setting somewhere. Some laptops have a BIOS setting for TVout. If it's set for NTSC and the TV is set for PAL, or vice versa, you will get video issues. I had a an old DVD player that was 'stuck' on NTSC only. When I tried to play a PAL movie in it, it would play in black and white. Check the back of the TV or wherever all the control switches are (or just read the manual). Check the PC BIOS and the TVout settings if using separate video hardware/software....

Good luck!

Answer:colour problems

Hi lloydy, and welcome to TSG.

Exactly what what kind of cable (VGA, DVI, HDMI, etc.) are you using for the connection? Do you have a way of testing the cable, say by temporarily using it to replace a known good cable used for some other connection?

Anybody know where I can get basic color theme variations for Windows XP besides Blue, Olive, and Silver?

I am not interested in getting any WindowsBlind themes with all new icons, objects, etc, and I don't wish to install TGTSoft's ThemeXP, I just want some different color variations of the Luna theme, eg. Longhorn's Slate would be nice...even though there are some around on the web for that, but what about other colors.

Answer:Win XP Colour themes

Make your own? It's very easy and won't take you that long, plus it's customized to your own liking. (is that the right spelling?)

Dear all, After having Installed a New Hard Drive and Re-Installed Windows 98 last night with help from some kind people on here. I now basically have a problem being that the Display only shows 2 or 16 Colours and i need to get True Colour 24-Bit.I've Installed Belarc Advisor and it just says Standard PCI Graphics Adaptor so i need to find the proper Driver for this. I'm sure this is a problem i had before and eventually found one and was told to add a command line in Sysedit (i think that's what it was anyway), so any help n this problem would be much appreciated. Many ThanksAndy

Answer:How do i get True 24-bit Colour

You need to update your drivers, if you have the installation disk for your graphics card then pop it into the drive and run it. If you have on-board graphics the drivers will be on the m/b disk if you have none of the above you will have to find out what graphics card you have and download the drivers from the internet.

Answer:Colour Problems

Have you been able to change the screen settings on the monitor itself, how old is it? When my monitor did that it died shortly afterwards. (R.I.P) I would find that it would be fine for a few hours and then go blue for long periods of time.Could anyone have changed the monitor settings without you realising?

Question: colour printer

Hi
I just printed out a colour photo using the HP PSC2410. I discovered that if a drop of water falls on it, it wipes away the color off the picture, in other waords it is a temporary print. is there any way i could make the prints permananet or am i using the wrong paper(HP glossy print) or am i using some temporary ink(HP supplied as well).

Answer:colour printer

quite common. your printing with ink...most ink will rub if you drop water on it. write on a peice of paper and it will do the same. However, on most photo quality paper, the ink pretty much stays on there if water gets on there. If you want to print out a photo and make sure nothing wrecks it, you can buy stuff to coat them. Or you could just shove it in an album/frame so no water will ever get on it

Epson 440 will not print in colour...Have changed cartridge and cleaned heads several times but no difference...Colour box is ticked on print options..Any tips would help as I was thinking it was maybe blocked jets.

Answer:Epson 440 no colour

How old is the printer? Are the heads part of the color cartridge, or separate? If they're separate, maybe they're worn out and need to be replaced.

Here's part of the Epson FAQs:

Q: Why are the colors in my image incorrect?

A: Due to the fact that your monitor and printer use different
technologies to represent colors, your printed colors cannot exactly
match the colors you see on your monitor screen. Check the ink
setting in the printer driver and make sure it is set to Color, not
Black. Make sure the Media Type setting matches the paper or media
loaded. Let the printer driver automatically select other settings
for the best quality. Check to see that the paper is loaded
correctly by removing the paper and reloading it, making sure that
the printable side is face up. You can also adjust various color
settings in your printer driver and possibly your application
software to correct color problems in your image. Also, the print
head nozzles may be clogged. From the Utility section found in the
EPSON printer driver, print a nozzle check and examine the printed
dot pattern. Each staggered horizontal and straight vertical line
should be complete, with no gaps in the dot pattern. If there are
gaps in the dot pattern, clean the print heads by running the head
cleaning utility in the printer driver. Then, print another nozzle
check. A nozzle check and head cleaning must be performed as a
cycle in order for the cleaning cycles to work. If there are still
gaps in th... Read more

is very poor. The card is an NVIDIA GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU.I noticed that the S video slot on the back of the pC has seven holes & the TV has four. The S Video cable i have used is only four.Is there any way i can correct the lack of colour, there is some but it is very poor.

Answer:When running a DVD from my PC to the TV the colour

Do you have the TV output from the graphics card set to the correct TV system (PAL or NTSC or even SECAM)?Normal S-video does have four only connectors, at least all those I've been associated with.

I've just formatted my computer and before i formatted the colour setting was on 32-bit/ true colour. Now that i've formatted that option is gone and all i can choose is 16 colours and 256 colours.

Can anyone tell me how to get the 32-bit/ true colour option back.

I run Windows 98 and my current display is Plug and Play Monitor on Super VGA. I can't find a video card disk for it either.

Answer:Help on colour settings

You need to install the correct video card driver to get your colors/resolution back.

http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32 download this program and check -> Devices ->Physical Device and see what it lists for a video card or just physically look at thecard to get a make/model. Once you have that go to the manufacturers website and downlaod the correct drivers. Once installed you'll get the colors back.
