Question: For Windows Media Player 10 Users

Hey all, i recently downloaded media player 10 onto my system, and i do like the program (after all it is just plater 9 with a sharper interface !) but there is one thing that is starting to bug me. Whenever i open the player, instead of opening in the artists field i had been listening too, it just starts in the All Music view. I find this verrrry annoying, as then i have to scroll down the album or artist list to find what i want to listen too.May seem petty, but if anyone knows a way around this, i would be muchos grateful.cheers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I created two skins for the program and would like you to give me some feedback on them. They are only about 230kb and easy to install.

They are the only two links on my page right now, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding them. Use the link in my sig to get them.

Thanks.

If you have noticed that when you are playing any music files on Windows Media Player and while playing if you switch to a different user than that music keeps on playing, it doesn’t stops by its own, where it should be, but Microsoft doesn’t feels the same for sure, that’s why they have kept this feature in Windows Media Player 12 also.
But with that said, they have also provided a way to stop the playback if you like. So if this background playback annoys you when you have switched to different user, than follow the below method to fix this problem.
For those who never experienced this problem, open Windows Media Player and play any music file, now switch to any different user and you will find out that your music file is still playing, so you feel it’s a Gift – but it’s not because you can’t change the song, you can’t stop it, pause it from here you have to switch back again to your previous user and then you have access to all controls to pause, stop etc. To me it’s very annoying, so for those who want to stop this background playback follow the below steps to stop it.
1. Open Windows Media Player
2. Press ALT to show Menubar
3. Go to View > Plug-ins > Options
4. Now navigate to Player tab and in Player Settings check or tick on “Stop playback when switching to a different user”
And that’s it, click on Apply and restart Windows Media Player to see the changes. Original Source: bei... Read more

Dear All,

My computer has been suddenly popping up these Windows Media Player: then giving a username I don't know. I wish I had more details for you. When it pops up it gives me an option to share my Windows Media Player with them,a nd I click on no.

I should have written this when it happened. But it only started happening when I tried XTube one time. So I hope I didn't get a virus.

Do any of you know what this might be about?

Also, I forgot what information you need in my signature. I have a Windows Vista 32 bit (Service Pack 2) on a Sony VAIO VGN-FW140E.

I have a problem opening any media file in any of the Media Players viz., RealOne Player build 6.0.11.868 or my Windows Media Player 10.
Whenever I open the above mentioned Media Players on my system, their interface opens up and after I open and select any media (usually audio) file, the player keeps on connecting to the file and takes more than 1 minute and above in opening and playing any valid and good media file, may it be a .wma or .mp3 audio file.
How to fasten the dead slow speed of the players?

PLEASE HELP!!!

Answer:15% of Windows Users are Media Center Users that Can't Upgrade

Please check this DVBLink wiki
I used this app a while ago to watch and record IPTV on Windows Media Center. But I think they can do it with other sources too. The latest version can record TV server side so you don't need a Windows Media Center anymore. And now I use Plex server for all of my Video stuff instead of Windows Media Center.
It's really a shame MS stopped so many successful apps.

On some Toshiba notebooks the Toshiba control buttons can be configured manually.

Hello all, I tried to reply to the thread with a similar title to provide a correct answer. So I am reintroducing the topic and providing an answer that seems to work.

Problem: I want to use media player with very minimal frame. Many answers are "play full screen". But I know that media can be played in windows media without any skin, very minimal framing and floating media controls over the video that auto hide when you move away.

Answer:

Press Ctrl-2. This puts you in a skin mode. There should be menu items at the top: File, View, Play, Tools, Help
Choose View->Skin Chooser
You are now in the full media player experience. Do not choose a skin. Click the 3 square & arrow thing at the bottom "Switch to now playing"
Viola! No skin, minimal borders and floating media controls.

I have no idea why this is not a simple option. I think what I am choosing is the most basic skin, maybe not even intended for use. But this is my favorite player, super simple.

Hi,

We are having a problem on a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine running Windows media player 10. It says "this version of media player is incompatible" when you try and open it. We have tried removing version 10, and putting on 9 but you get the same problem. This happens if you download the install file from the website or install WMP from the WindowsUpdate site. Has anyone come across this before, or got any ideas on how to get WMP to work?

Thanks a lot,

I'm at my wits end.

I put together a capable gaming pc about a month ago with a bunch of new components and some cannibalized older components.

I installed all of the drivers from the motherboard cd. I have a radeon x1300 vid card. I'm running windows xp home ed. I've installed about every codec and plugin under the sun. I've troubleshot my load with regard to Windows itself.

I cannot play Windows Media Audio/Video files for the life of me.

I do get audio, but the video is all hyper-colored like looking at scrambled porn.

It doesn't matter if I download the video or watch it in a browser (any browser). It doesn't matter if I open up the DLed video in real player, Windows Media player or Generic DIVX player #458973: it still comes out all scrambled and in crazy moon-man rainbow colors.

I have no problem playing any other type of windows media player file. Quicktime works fine as well.

Please help.

Answer:Windows Media Player won't properly play Windows Media Audio/Video files

Well standard Window's media files should play without the need for any additional codecs.

Maybe check the forums of your vid card for some answers.

I am trying to download an audiobook from my local library. I generally use Overdrive Media Console to do this. When I try to download the book I get an error message letting me know that my Windows Media Player needs a Security Upgrade in order to play the DRM files. It tells me to click on TOOLS in the Overdrive toolbar and then Windows Media Player Security Upgrade. When I do this, a dialog box appears and tells me to make sure I am connected to the internet (I am) and click OK. When I click OK - nothing happens. When I read the Windows Help file - it indicates that when I click OK in the dialog box in Overdrive, it is supposed to open WMP and another dialog box. It never does.
The Help file gives me a web site to go to where I can upgrade manually - this appears to be a Microsoft website. The Upgrade button here is grayed out.
I made sure I was using IE as the browser.
I opened WMP manually to see if there was anything I could upgrade manually there.
I can't even determine what version of WMP I have since the Properties button is grayed out.
I just bought this computer yesterday... it's running windows 8

If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it! I very much miss my audiobooks and I am literally banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out!!!

thanks,
Krista

Hi guys,
Using my desktop pc (Windows XP Professional), I copied songs from my cds to the computer thru Windows Media Player and then moved all the songs to my portable hard drive.
I connected my hard drive to my laptop (Vista Home Premium) and tried to play the files thru Windows Media Player. Unfortunately, WMP 11 did not play the file but opened a Mozilla Firefox window leading to a site that would ask me to download license.
Upon clicking the 'Download License' button, I encountered the error that said I had to install Windows Media Services plug-ins.
I searched for this plug-in and found out that it was associated with WMP 9 and not WMP 11 so I thought installation might cause conflicts or might create more errors. I'm not so good at computer and I don't even know which to install when WMP website gave me too many options and downloadables.
These make me so frustrated and I don't even know if I could still copy my songs from my hard drive to my laptop and play them.
Could someone please help me out? Please...

Hi,

I've been having problems listening to music on windows media player and watching flash videos. The playback is choppy (sometimes gets stuck and generally bounces around) but also my system seems to take an age to start up and is slow.

I've run disk-defragmentor, scandisk, spybot, adaware, AVG etc. But no luck.

This has come about since I've put about 20GB of music onto my laptop (I still have around 47GB of 70GB free). However, when Windows Media Player is not open the system still runs slowly and I have no luck running flash videos.

The only possible solution I can think of is deleting the music but I'm a bit hesitatant to do so because it took me ages to put it on!

Anyway, thanks very much for any help you can give me!

That?s very interesting. It cannot play DVDs but you want to use it s default player. ;)
You know what, forget WMP and use something else. I recommend you to test ?VLC player?. It can read all video formats and you don?t need to install some codecs. It is for free.

If you will be happy with it you can set it as default player for video format files.

I have two pcs on a wireless network connected to a cable modem. One pc (Thinkpad) has no problem playing internet radio stations through wmp. The other one (Dell 4100) has problems with streaming audio. It can connect to the radio station fine (or download the audio file in either format) but then it keeps buffering while it's playing. I've tried just about everything I can find to fix it: editing the registry (MSoft tech note,) changing the network settings, changing the buffer rate but nothing seems to work. There is more than enough bandwidth to handle the flow of data, plus my cable company says it's not them (of course.) Any help would be really appreciated!

Hello, I've got a Toshiba Satellite A110 Notebook since 2006.
2 Days ago a friend formated my notebook. In order to make the systemstart a little bit faster, he stopped a few Toshiba applications in the system configuration. My notebook worksa now very good.

But here is the problem: Before formatting I could use these helpful Media Apps for my Windows Media Player - basically because of laziness to switch between the programms during working. :-)...
But now, they don't work anymore. :-(

Is it possible, that we've stopped an application, which is important to make these apps run?
Or is an additional driver left?
Or do they only work in cobination with Windows Media Player 10. (now I've installed the WMP 11)

I hope for your helpful answers.

But think over, that I'm not such great computer genius! ;-)... :-(

Answer:Satellite A110 Media Apps for Windows Media Player don't work!

Try to enable all disabled applications. Go to START > Run and write MSCONFIG inside.
When the ?System Configuration? window is open go to ?Startup? tab and enable all applications with empty Startup Item.

Restart your notebook and check if everything works well again.

ok (as you my know by know i rarther hate windows media player)

well basicly i have loads of .mp3 files in my Docs and my music folders, there not all music files, when windows media sees them it ads them to libary, Annoyingly, i manages to stop it downloading extra info like album art (cos its soo stupid, it gets it wrong like 95% of the time lol) but it keeps adding every thing back to the libary even if i delete them from it, its soo annoying any!! surgestions please?

Answer:Solved: Stop Windows Media Player Automaticly ading media files to libary

In WMP go to Tools > Options and uncheck all the boxes in the Player tab, Privacy tab and Library tab.

In the Library tab click on Monitor Folders and set the top part to "My personal folders", then click on Advanced Options.

Set all the folders to "Ignore". Unfortunately you can't set the Rip folder to "Ignore" so for that go to the Rip music tab, where it says "Rip music to this location" click on Change and create an empty folder somewhere. Then just never add any music files to that folder.

Then delete everything out of the WMP library and it should remain empty.

Well, I'm not sure what to do here. Up until a few days ago I was sharing my media with all computers on my network on my wireless router.

Now when I log into windows and open WMP 11 it says that I am no longer sharing media, would you like to turn on sharing? So I say yes and confirm to share my media to all devices on my network, mainly my PS3.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled it (well it actually just reverted back). I also checked to make sure that Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service is set to automatic in Admin tools. And also checked windows firewall that it allows the service.

So I am at a loss here, I don't know how to get my media sharing capabilites back. I know its not my PS3, as I am sharing media from my laptop right now. Any suggestions?

Thanks High

Answer:How do i prevent windows media player 10 from loading up when i insert media?

The way I know and have alwasys used to stop CDs from autoplaying ( as its damm anoying especially if you've already installed the software ) will also work for Music CDs.

the easy option and one that saves messing in the registry is to download Powertoys for XP and install the TweakUI module, once installed and run goto the My Computer menu > Auto Play and untick your CD drives > Apply

So for some background I basically stream music, pictures and video content from my computer to an Xbox 360 in the lounge room for my family to enjoy. This has worked for quite a long time with Windows 7.

I installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview today and got settled in with it and indexed my libraries with Windows Media player so this could resume. But to my dismay this doesn't seem to work in Windows 8.

I have each folder and hard drive shared on windows for network use, I have a little experience from LANs in this area. I have enabled all streaming options in WMP that I know of and the entirety of my library has been fully indexed. This is WMP 12 and everything I possibly know of is up to date.

I haven't got the Homegroup feature active as I never had to use this before.

The only other thing I have noticed that has changed is this. A little green icon that in windows 7 would appear on top of the xboxs, I'm assuming this means something.

On the Xbox end it used to display the Libraries such as 'Recorded TV', 'Music', 'TV Shows', 'Movies' and other things but now when I try to access video content it gives me a folder called 'Videos' which contains nothing.

Does anybody know of any solutions?

Answer:Streaming Media Content to an Xbox 360 via Windows Media Player

After more messing around it seems media servers can see jpgs but nothing else. I'm just going to reinstall W7 for now.

Every since January 4th of this year, I have been trying to fix a very annoying issue with windows media player.
How It Started
Back in January my dad's computer constantly kept freezing over and over due to him having way to many podcast on his computer. I'm the only one who knew how to fix it from crashing and so I tried to delete some of the memory off the computer, however when
the memory was low I noticed that a few programs (including media player) were not functioning correctly. I was able to fix them but then I noticed that media player's entire library was missing, which made me think if I restarted the computer, it would fix
it. Sadly it didn't but I was able to find tutorials on how to restore the library back to MP, but the thing is before I attempted that, I went into media player with administrator on in hopes it would make a change. Of course it didn't but now there's a issue
that I face and I keep running into dead ends. Every single time I try to turn on media sharing in the WMP library, when I check both options and then click ok it doesn't do anything. No matter how many times I try to press it, nothing happens and also what
I find strange is that the ok button has a administrator prompt shield on it now. Kind of like it's trying to ask for permission but fails before it can do that.
The solutions I have tried
I have tried dozens of solutions and yet none of them fix the issue. I tried using regedit.exe and tried fixing it's registry but that di... Read more

I'm using Windows Media Player (WMP) version 11, or 11.0.5721.5268, to be exact.

I want to *prevent* WMP from trying to download information for CDs I rip.

For example, when WMP is done ripping a CD (MP3 format is what I use) I get this message:

"Windows Media Player cannot download media information for this CD. The tracks, artist and album will be identified as "Unknown" in your library. For best results, connect to the Internet or manually add media information for the CD."

Is there any way to set up WMP so it does NOT do this step? I don't want it to search for any data of any kind - I just want it to rip the CD to MP3 and be done with it.

I have made sure the "Retrieve additional information from the Internet" box is unchecked (not checked) in the "Library" tab.

Any ideas how I can turn this off? I'd really like to be able to have WMP bypass this step completely.

Thank you very much!

This is an odd one. I'm running win xp home edition, sp1. media player 9.00.00.3075. When i try to play a streaming media file (audio or video) in ie6 or firefox, the browser crashes with no error message whatsoever, it just disappears. This just started happening and I haven't installed any new updates or programs but sites like launch.yahoo.com or mlb.tv that worked fine 2 days ago will crash now if I try to play a media file.
I tried reinstalling the media player, but that didn't fix the problem. I rolled xp back to a restore point where I know this was working, but no luck.

I did a search here and found this thread: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=37852

However, none of the solutions worked for me. Any advice or solutions would be much appreciated.

Looking through my Add / Remove Programs list I noticed that I have the following two programs installed ie,Windows Media Player 11 & Windows Media Format 11 Runtime. I realise that I need WMP on my PC but both of these programs are the same in size ie 11.16MB.

My questions are " Do I need the both of them or are they just the same?".

I usually like to keep my media library properly tagged and arranged. And the best app to do so is MediaMonkey with some user created scripts. You can do the management in minutes what would otherwise take you hours on Windows Media Player.
But for Media Playback, i prefer WMP for the ease of use, and hence the need to keep the library in WMP properly indexed.
In Windows 7, probably due to the system wide library introduction (not to mention that it is afterall a beta!), sometimes WMP does not index your music library! I have faced this problem a few time as i manually delete the library when WMP wont update the tags i edited in MediaMoneky automatically.
So if WMP won't automatically index your library, here's what i do to fix the problem. 1. Open "Services" from the Start Menu / Control Panel, and stop the "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service". 2. Now navigate to "%Userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player". 3. Delete all the "Windows Media Library (.wmdb)" types of file inside that folder. 4. Done! Now simply open WMP and it should start indexing your library again. UPDATE: You can also try out this ATS Fix from Microsoft mentioned below to let it fix the problem for you automatically.

My child Disney MP3 Player has a plug-in disk to load.  The instructions are explicit; the player will only work properly if ONLY WMP v10 is installed.  I already have v11 installed rendering the toy useless.  There are provisions within v11 that lead me to believe I can revert back to v10.  Those instructions are not clear to me at all.  Has anyone encountered a problem like this before.  Please; no experiments, I can do that on my own.  I'm mostly worried about what will happen to all the files in WMP and files saved to CD-RW using WMP v11.  I went to a Microsoft forum to address my problem but they haven't responded.  Thanks for your help.  T.

I have tried everything to get Windows Media Player 9 to work in Mini Player mode, but to no avail. I have followed the Help instructions, i.e:

To use the new Mini-Player

1. Right-click an empty area of the Windows taskbar (such as below the system clock), point to Toolbars, and then select Windows Media Player. This step enables the feature and must only be performed once. The Player will dock the mini-Player in your Windows taskbar whenever you minimize it.

2. Minimize the Player to view the Mini-Player.

This does not work. I have Windows XP Pro SP1, and Windows Media Player 9.00.00.3075. Can anyone help ?

This is not an OS question so I am going to move it, which hopefully you will get better responses.

Had a lot of trouble after installing Microsoft's DirectX 7a. Could not use DirectDraw, Direct 3D, or any media players: all would result in a page fault (Kernel32.dll @0137:bff7297c).

After over 30 days of troubleshooting, we isolated the conflict to the Vision 95 which has an option of being or not being installed along with the STB Velocity (Virge VX) 3D drivers.

However, BEWARE OF DIRECTX 7a and especially WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER!~ I shout because ya need to [email protected]

Windows MEdia Player seems to me to be programmed to seek out any and all other media players (ie. Real Player 7), and mess them up big time. I have a 465 Kb .mpg file. It used to play on Real player BEFORE i put Direct X 7a in. Now, it plays 2.4 seconds of the mpg and quits. Also, a .mov, although it plays in entirety, the sound is ABSOLUTELY RAUCIOUS at all volume settings.

INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, both the mpg and mov play REALLY WELL in Windows Media Player.

I did a Add/Remove on Windows Media Player 6.4, and Real Player started having colored lines appearing in the video.

I did a manual uninstall of WMP (delete msdxm.ocx).

No improvement in Real Player.

Deleted Real Player, defrag/scandisk'ed, rebooted, clean install of RP 7, check out the mpg or mov: NO IMPROVEMENT.

DId a find on anything "mediaplayer2" or Windows Media Player, and deleted.

Real player? No Improvement.

I am running Vista and am having a problem with Windows Media Player 11.

When I try to close Media player by clicking on the X on the top right hand corner or selecting exit, I get the following message in a popup box.

Would you like to hide the player instead of closing it? Yes/No

The answer is yes, but it would just have just closed for me in the past. Is there some option somewhere where I can turn this question off?

I have noticed that if Media Player is open but no music has been selected to play and I close the program, Media Player will close correctly without the question being asked.

Anybody have any idea?

Hi,

I have recently purchased a new laptop and then upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 using the updater. I have Windows Media Player as a Tile when I press the start menu and this App opens and plays my music in the same way as previously. However, I also wish to listen to a range on Internet Radio Stations, which on my old laptop were available through activating Media Guide .... despite following all instructions in an attempt to find and activate Media Guide in this Media Player (looks like Ver 12), there are no check-boxes, or any other links available to activate Media Guide.

How do I activate Media Guide so that I can listen to Internet Radio?

A Google search reveals a set of instructions that include customising the Navigation Bar, but I don't have the specific check-box specified. Also, I've been through the route of attempting to manage libraries - no Media Guide there either.

Anybody got any clues?

I swear that I am on the site that I was on yesterday, and I posted this question, but it isn't here & I still find this site very confusing to navigate, so I will try once more!!

I ripped a 2 disc CD to my computer - Disc 1 - no problem, Disc 2 - the first part of the tract info came up in squares & the remainder was correct. I created a playlist. I synched it to the first MP3 - no problem, then I tried a second MP3 - errors in red circles - files missing media usage rights. So I deleted the first playlist, made a new list and no problems. The files from both Disc are not protected, according to their properties description.

I subscribed to a site in November and downloaded DRM files - big problems - these files had to be synched every month & playlists for CD's which had files which were not protected, were also affected - that is error messages came up for those playlists - even though I had previously been able to synch & play them on the MP3 with no problems. I have deleted all DRM files from my computer, but I was able to (unintentionally) find a software program which would remove the DRM protection. So I have been able to burn these files to a CD, which I previously could not do. If I try to synch these files to my MP3 - am I going to have problems?

Thank-you very much

Answer:Windows Media Player - Media Guide Not Present?

I don't think it is part of the WMP interface anymore. However, you can access the content at http://www.windowsmedia.com/radioui/home.aspx .

I am a music downloader.
It used to be that WMP12 would update the mp3 music folders to where the folder contents would read as follows:

01 'Track Name'
02 'Track Name'
03 'Track Name'

and so on...

This is no longer the case. WMP will not update my media library files, although it says it does. I have cleared the cache, cleared all .wmdb files, and have completely removed all 9000 plus songs and have them reloaded. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled WMP12 to no avail.

I can manually correct the files myself, but I shouldn't have to.
What setting am I missing that needs to be set so my media library will automatically update?

Thanks

Answer:Windows Media Player will not update media library

Do you have retrieve additional information from the internet checked in options ?

I installed Windows 8, and now avi files look like poo when played through Windows Media Center on my PC or X-box. The same .avi file looks great when Windows Media Player is used though.... I was using Windows 7 before the "upgrade" and Media Center worked just fine on my PC and X-box.
Example of what I'm talking about:

What the video looks like with Media Center:
Same file using Media Player:
Does anyone have a clue why the same damned file looks so different between two Windows programs.....and how I can fix this? We preferred using Media Center on the X-box before this "upgrade"...

When I try to play a video file WMP 11 attempts to download Media Usage Rights. I get a big button that displays "Download" (pic1), however when I press the button the next page does not display(pic2).

The window says that it is going to download video license ver 3.412

My OS: Windows Vista 32-bit SP1

In the main library window of WMP, when I right-click onthe header, one of the options is to "Choose columns".There are about 40 different media file properties listedsuch as Title, Composer, Length, and Size. Several ofthese are checked in the default WMP (version 12) butnot actually displayed. One such is "Action". It is odd, maybe unique, in that it cannot be unchecked. I surmisethat if any media in my library had an Action property, itwould unavoidably be displayed. Can anyone tell me what this "Action" property is? -- Jeff, in Minneapolis message edited by Jeff Root

Answer:Windows Media Player media file property

I'm not sure but I think it may be if you are burning a CD or some other activity that would tie the file and MP up until the activity was done. Also, if you aren't seeing some of the properties that you think you should they may be scrolled off to the right. Try dragging the right end of each displayed property to the left a bit and see if they show up.

Answer:How to set up media streaming on Windows Media Player via network

Hi Karsten,

I have my own radio station- currently down now, because of a problem I'm having with my two hard drives. I use Winamp to stream the music. This, I've found, is the easiest method out there, and is compatible with just about all other media players (i.e., Windows Media, iTunes, Musicmatch, and of course, Winamp can all tune in).

To use this setup, you will need Winamp player, SHOUTcast DNAS server, and the shoutcast winamp plugin. These are all free.

In order to serve from within a network, you'll have to set up port forwarding for port 8000 (or whatever port you choose to serve on).

This is everything you need to get started. If after downloading all of these, you find yourself unsure of what to do, post again and I'll walk you through it- I just don't have the time to write out a guide unless it's needed.

Hope this helps.

Oh, and this is for streaming audio. Video is much more complicated and time-consuming.

My son shares a computer with his girlfriend. They log on as different users. When she logs on, she can play music from online with windows media. When my son logs on with his user name, it won't work. They are both listed as administrators. Is this some type of restriction that is keeping him from using it?

I have looked but can't find a way to get it to work for him.

Thanks,

I have a lot of music saved into Windows Media Player on Windows 7. I am aware that the new Windows 10
Upgrade will not have Windows Media Player, but that another player will either come within the Upgrade or
a new music player is available. So once I upgrade from 7 to 10, how do I get all of my music into this new
upgrade? Thanks.

Answer:Music in Windows 7 Media Player transferred to Windows 10 Player ?

Hi,
As far as I know its only Windows Media Centre that is being removed
R.I.P., Windows Media Center
Windows Media Player is staying

If you do decide to use the new media player, it will just pick up your music the same as WMP did, nothing extra to do

I have Windows media player verson 11, and my MP3 player is the Toshiba S series (the software that came with the toshiba was for windows media player 10 however its supported in WMP 11, i also tried rolling back to 10 to no avail)
The Mp3 player and WMP used to sync perfectly (videos, pictures, music) however a little while after i upgraded to WMP 11 it started sync-ing less and less first being unable to convert videos onto my MP3 player (I was previously able to sync these videos on) and soon after that it wouldnt sync videos on at all. About a month after that when i plugged in my MP3 player and turned on WMP a error message came up saying that windows media player has incountered an error and must close, and then a error report option comes up. *when the error fist comes up it says "Windows media player has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience."

This happens everytime i plug in my MP3 player, also when i take my MP3 player to my friends house and try to sync videos at his place everything works fine. So today i uninstalled and reinstalled WMP and even got the the windows media player files from his house and replaced them with the ones on my computer and nothing, ive also ended the sync partnership and that stuffed WMP and i had to reinstall it

HELP ME PLZ

i dont thnk ive left anything out but if i have ill put it up shortly

Answer:Windows media player will not sync with my MP3 player

Oh um i just rolled back Windows media player to version 10 and installed the software that came with my MP3 (which installs all the necessary features for the player to sync properly)

Hi.
I used to play all my mp3 files via Windows Media Player. Those were the good ol' Napster days. Then came Bearshare, for which I downloaded Real Player Basic, and since then it seems, I can't get any audio out of Windows Media Player anymore. It seems to be doing its job and all that happy stuff, you know: opening media libraries, playing mp3 files... only: no audio. Real Player's doing fine, but even my old Napster mp3 files from Napster - heck, even the Bearshare files that work with Real Player! - get zero audio when played in Windows Media. So I figured it's some sort of conflict, you know? That stuff happens. So being the resourceful guy that I am, I tried uninstalling Real Player, (Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs...) but you know what? It's not working. I get a pop up window ("Are you absolutely SURE you wanna lose all yer Real Player stuff? Yes/No" I do "Yes", I get another pop up job ("Uninstalling Real Player") but that's it. You know the blue horizontal bar you get that informs you of how far into the process you are? It doesn't even show up. At this point, nothing goes further. Ctrl/Alt/Delete tells me "Uninstalling Real Player Not Responding". It does that every time. What I want to do is be able to use Windows Media Player again, because I find it more practical than Real Player, only it serves me diddly to have an application running that won't give me the audio it&#... Answer:Real Player 7 vs. Windows Media Player

Just guessin here, can you go to start/run/type msconfig, go to start up tab, uncheck real player, reboot. Try to uninstall it when it hasn't loaded.

I would like to upgrade to a newer version of media player but I have not been able to get the other ones to show the playlist like the media player 7.0 can. I go to websites and listen to 4 hour audio files that are listed in many segments worth so many minuets apiece. It automatically shows me all this information and I can select any segment at any counter reading. But if I upgrade then all of this information is not available to me. There is no way I can select a particular segment and counter reading with the newer players. It looks like this
Coast to coast1 00:00
Coast to coast2 00:00
Coast to coast3 00:00
etc. The list continues down the right side of the window and I can select any one and see the amount of time per segment as well as pick the counter of that segment. Once an upgrade is done You have to listen to the whole thing and you can't choose which segment you want to hear. Even if I pick show playlist the above playlist does not appear.

Do you have any suggestions or hints to this dilema.

Paul
