NT File System conversion failed

Question: NT File System conversion failed

I have two Hitachi Serial ATA 160GB Hard Drives (in a 0 Raid configeration) which shows on PC as Drive 'C' 306GB. I also have 512MB of DD Memory. I am trying to covert from Fat 32 To NTFS. Every time I use convert.exe it says it will convert next time I switch on PC. After I have re-started I then get a blue screen which checks the hard drive for errors. Then it checks to see if it has sufficient space. Then I get a message saying I have "INSUFFICIENT MEMORY - COVERSION FAILED". I have looked on M/Soft's Knowledge base and can find out about insufficient space but nothing about "Insufficient Memory" !!!!!!!!!!!!Can any one throw any light on this problem pleaseHOLLY

Preferred Solution: NT File System conversion failed

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: NT File System conversion failed

You don't say what operating system you are using? This could be a matter of insuficient virtual memory. In which case you can adjust this manualy in advanced settings.

At first, I don't need to recover my data, I just want my drive back to re-use it.
How can a format my usb drive including all boot sectors which sees to be locked/write-protected by bitlocker?

My problem starts with decrypting my drive by deactivting bitlocker on it by entering the valid password/recovery key. At 36% of decryption the process halts without reason. Now, I'm unable to access my drive or resume the process.

I tried...
    ...to format with windows
   ..remove with diskmgmt
   ... remove with diskpart
   ... repair-bde
   ... manage-bde
   ... ubuntu live cd
... mass production tool software, to override the whole stick

nothing worked. The only thing which worked was once the software M3 Bitlocker recovery Free, but just one time to access the locked partition. But, as mentioned I don't need to recover my data. With that tool I'm not able to wipe the drive.

That Bitlocker protects my data till the end is good, but that it breaks my data and my hardware in such a case is not fair.
How can I break the write-protection mode to finally wipe the hard drive?

I have a Compaq Presario 5000 Model 5BW284 PC with Windows XP Pro. I want to convert the file system from FAT32 to NTFS since that is what's recommended for my situation. I have a C drive and D drive. Conversion to NTFS is recommended for drives with over 32GB volume. Since the D Drive is less than 3 GB, should I just convert the C Drive to NTFS and leave the D drive at FAT32?

Also, it's recommended to backup the system before doing a file conversion. I have never done this before. I would need to backup about 6.3 GB with the Windows backup utility. It would take too many CD's to do this, so would a removable mini USB flash drive work?

Thanks,
Dave

Answer:A couple questions about conversion to NTFS file system

First and foremost if you reformat your drive you will loose ALL data!! secondly your D:/ Drive is the same as your C:/ drive, Drive D is just a partition on the c drive (One hard disc two sections)

What's more the D:/ partition on a Presario 5000 contains emergency repair files to restore your PC back to factory settings in case your Os ever fails. Formatting this partitian will erase this data.

If you really wan't to reformat your C:/ drive, leave the D:/ partition intact in case you ever have to restore your pc. Why is the C:/ drive in FAT format?

Hope this helps

I recently saved over my Fallout 1 savegame and I want the old one back, I tried system restore but it failed due to an unspecified error, hinting to turn my antivirus off - which didn't work.

I just want to old save file back, is there a program that can do that?

(error 0x80070005)

Answer:System restore failed - I just need an old file

I don't think there is any way to get the old game back. System restore is designed to restore portions of the registry and certain types of files. It was specifically designed not to restore user files.

*******NO COMBO FIX LOG IS ATTACHED***********First, thank you for what you people do here. I suddenly began receiving the error "Windows - Delayed Write Failed. (Failed to save all the components for the file \System32\0000390c. The file is corrupted or unreadable. This error may be caused by a PC hardware problem)In addition, my desktop went black and lost my desktop icons. A box popped up saying I needed to purchase some time of computer fix. Researching the problem, I came across a forum that suggested running ComboFix from your site, which I did. After running it, I found the warning not to run it unless specifically instructed to. In any event, I did run it and currently my desktop icons are back, however my desktop background is still black and I have a new icon on my desktop that is a red circle with a white X on it. Please let me know what else I should do, if anything. I have not deleted ComboFix.exe from my computer or performed any other tasks. And again, thank you for what you do. Warmest regards

I was converting an external USB hard drive from FAT32 to NTFS. I had initiated the conversion through the command line interface to start after the next boot. During boot, I only saw a blank screen so I turned off the computer, unplugged the USB drive and restarted hoping that I could start over or just forget it. Now that USB hard drive is inaccessible. Is there any fix??

For what its worth, this is now fixed. Followed the instructions on http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-system-restore and got most of the way there. Apparently the rootkit was still on there though and everything came back. I started over today, but Microsoft Security Essentials had a definitions update today, detected the problem and removed it. After using unhide, everything is back to good!

I did not want to make a new set up, to delete system boot file..so I tried to copy.
first I turn of all security etc..
In cmd..diskpart I set the 100 MB system partition to inactive..made C: active instead.
after exit diskpart, I typed bcdboot c:\windows/sc:
and got a copy failure.

Maybe its because I use a converted dynamic disk.
But maybe its just another mistake needs to be corrected 1st!

there for I give you some screenshots:

here is my Partition wizard pic:
my list disk with list partition:

the first partition is unknown to me and hidden .Maybe left from reboot restore (which places itself in cluster-its an Os on itself-I was told, or from my backup restore-which I doubt)
the 4th partition are D,E,B together, marked as hidden(not in partition wizard though), you can see that in the next screenshot.

Partition 4 covers 3 volumes marked as hidden - I found it strange ?
another lookup:

here the C: volume is only boot and not boot&system like in Partition wizard and volume 0 is the system and because it's inactive I boot up via DVD PLOP, cause C: wouldn't boot and system is inactive as said already.
What can I do to bring the 2nd and the 3rd Partition together.
Or how to copy ...and than delete volumes whatever...

I can not believe that there is no way to fix this ..please help me out:idea:

It's not for space but many tools want go with dynamic disk..and I converted it to have a backup partition for Macrium...but Macrium does also not suppor... Read more

My Acer Aspire 5741 laptop was having major issues. Programs and applications kept stopping, crashing or freezing. And the worst thing is that it had started to just crash to a blue screen full of white code and collect data for a "Crash dump", then restart.

I decided to run system restore and restore it to factory settings. I backed up all my photos and music, then created a repair disk, as per Acer's instructions. Then ran the system restore. But I just received a message saying "Restore Failed - Error code= 0x570 (WIMApplyImage cannot apply image: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable)".

I use the repair disk to boot up, and it gives me the recovery options. I go to system restore, and it starts the job but after a couple of minutes just stops, giving me the same error message. Sometimes it gets to around 12%, sometimes around 30%, sometimes as much as 60%. But then just stops and gives me the error message.

(By the way, I have tried clicking on f10 to try that way of system restoring, but it doesn't do anything. No matter what I press, it goes to a screen that says "File:\Windows\system32\winload.exe Status: 0xc000000f. Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupted.")

I emailed Acer support yesterday afternoon, but it would appear no-one works there at the weekend. I am desperate. Is my copy of Windows corrupted? Would this be caused by a virus? Would the recovery disk... Read more

Answer:System restore failed. Corrupted file?

A disk supplied by Acer should work fine; the disk you created copies from a partition on the hard disk, and it is likely that the partition itself had already been damaged in some way. A factory disk wouldn't have the same issues unless there is something more seriously wrong with your computer hardware.

Hello there,

I had just recently gotten bombarded with error message boxes saying, "Failed to save all the components for the file \\system32\\000046ca. The file is corrupted or unreadable. This error may be caused by a PC hardware problem."

Yesterday, I had been browsing the Internet in multiple tabs: Youtube, and doing a Google search. All of a sudden my Internet browser closed, and when I had attempted to start it up again I was being harassed by a "Googleupdate.exe" program, which I didn't install (the manufacturer was not listed as Google, but instead 'unknown'). The window kept popping up, and I had forcibly restarted because I was unable to further use the computer. When Windows had started up again, I logged in and that's when the error messages began to appear. The desktop had turned black; all of my icons, folders and programs have been hidden. I have virtually no access to *anything* on my computer.

I tried using rkill + MBAM to get rid of it but then when MalwareBytes would prompt me to restart to complete removal, I would do so and when the computer would start up again the problem would still be there. Right now I am using the same computer in Safe mode with Networking, as that is the only way I will be able to install anything onto my computer without it spontaneously disappearing.

On a side note: I had run GMER, but it had shown absolutely no results and I have no ark.txt log.

Please help?

Answer:"Failed to save all the components for the file \\system 32\\000046ca..."

One more thing: System restore is not working for me; I can't go back to an earlier date.

MBAM is also having mixed results when scanning. Sometimes it will find nothing, sometimes it will detect 2 problems yet those problems can't be deleted as the OP states.

And if this is not the proper forum, refer me to an appropriate one, please.

Hi,

I have a table that has three fields and all of the fields are varchar fields.  I've just tried to add a new row to the table and one of the fields is giving me the following error message;
Error Message: Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'iw' to data type int.

Like I said, all of the fields are varchar fields so I shouldn't be getting this message.  I also have the same value in the same field on different rows which have been entered without issue.

Suggestions would be appreciated :)

Answer:Conversion failed when converting the varchar value to data type int

Is there a trigger on the table?

First, let me say I was an idiot for even thinking I should attempt this, given my computer skills. (Edited for clarity of the past tense, ...what I did, rather than the attempt to fix it now.)

I had a pdf file that I wanted to be able to use and print, rather than have to fill it out by hand. (It was a form for my bio lab subjects, needed for final submission.) I found a (free) conversion tool online, and ran the file through it. It didn't turn out a functional word document, but rather a bunch of "gibberish". So, I took the time to recreate the overall pdf page using word tools, and used it instead.

Sometime later, I went to open a file that I had on my laptop, and realized that I had the same gibberish that I was presented with in that conversion attempt. After perusing my files, I realized that I no longer had any pdf icons in my files, but rather a "modified" looking word icon, which I figured was in place in any location that had originally housed a pdf file. Of course, now they are all useless to me. It also appears that I can't download pdf files anymore without it trying to convert them in the same format.

Can anyone tell me what I can do about this? I tried to go through system restore, and unless I just didn't go back far enough, it didn't work. So I thought that I should ask for advice before I try to do anything else.

ETA, I am using the 2010 office suite with Windows 7

Answer:PDF to word conversion (failed) converted all computer files (?)

Can you right click one of these files and select "Open with?" If you can, select your PDF viewer (Adobe,Foxit, Nitro, or whatever it is) and see if it opens the file correctly. Since this problem affects all your PDF files, it almost seems like the file association for PDFs has been somehow changed.

Hello all,

I have been having a problem with my PC for the last ...uhh... couple of years where it will randomly, without warning, reboot itself. I cannot correlate any rhyme or reason for when it occurs, and sometimes it happens several times per day, and sometimes just once. The message in the event viewer that occurs just as the system reboots itself is "The MCSTRM service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified." - I googled this and found that it was connected to Rhapsody, which I promptly uninstalled. This alleviated the problem COMPLETELY for about a week and a half, until two days ago when it began all over again. I had not installed or uninstalled anything when the change occurred. Here is my HijackThis log (I'm not sure if you need this but I saw other topics include this).

I have this issue where if the computer is left doing nothing for around 10 mins it freezes up completely and cannot get into it without holding in the power button to power it off and let it boot up again, what is frustrating is that i could be working on it for hours with a bunch of heavy applications running like adobe cs or running games like bf3 and it will be fine but as soon as it goes idle for a short period it freezes?

It also happened a few moments ago, but this time it was as soon as I powered the computer on and logged in.

I have searched through the event viewer and there appears to be a pattern every time this happens I get the following error message

The AODDriver4.2 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

A few days i was getting this once before the freeze but now it appears twice in the logs.

There was also another one, but I think I have fixed it as it has not appeared in the event viewer in the last two crashes.

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
cdrom

I have done a bit of research on the AODDriver 4.2 service, and apparently it is linked to my ATI graphics card somehow but there is not alot of posts on the net about this issue. I have included a screenshot of my amd vision engine information.

Here is my comp... Read more

I recently got a little voice recording thingy for my birthday but i can't for the life of me figure out how to use the data it presents to me. It records everything into creative labs VOC format which is completely useless since I can't get it to play on the computer. I've tried to find a winamp plugin with no luck, I've tried several free conversion utilities that were not able to open the file. I've done the standard google search to find a solution.

What do they expect people to do with these files? It seems kinda strange that they would even offer you a usb port on the device to transfer it to your computer if you have no way of using that data. o.0 Creepy business.

The closest i've gotten to hearing the sound is by importing raw data into audacity using some weird settings. The output was barely intelligible and full of static. Does anyone know of a free converter that actually works or some other solution?

Answer:Voc File Conversion

Hi iqchicken. That particular audio format appears to be very proprietory, mainly used by creative's line of soundblaster cards. It's definetly not used much anymore. I don't know all the apps you've tried but there are a few listed here.In all honesty, I wouldn't waste too much time trying to get it to work. I'd return\exchange it for something else.BTW, What's the name and model # of this "little voice recording thingy"?

Not sure where to put this particular topic. It might be software related. Anyhow, I have a .dvr file that I need to be able to either play on a computer or convert to a computer friendly format. The DVR unit that the file came from is H.264 TRH16 (to which I cannot find very much information about). There are a few software titles that I've already tried that claim to convert or play this file, but they don't. Any thoughts?

Answer:.DVR File Conversion

Just a quick add to the original note, here is the documentation I was able to find on this DVR unit. This is an FTP link to download the PDF file: ftp://ivigilcctv.net/www/downloads/m...ser.manual.pdf

Greetings

I have just downloaded a video in .ASF format which plays in Microsoft Windows Media Player (currently using V7). The video is in two parts.

I would like to convert the format to another (ideally AVI or MPEG). Is this possible?

Any suggestions would be appreciated - I actually tried used a screen capture application (SnagIt) but that didn't work.

Thanks for any advice - even if it's just to confirm what I'm trying to do is not possible.

today, it seems it doesn't work anymore... Was it an hoax ? NO, I tried it.

I don't know if this is a stupid question but I thought I'd ask. Is there any way to convert a zip file to an mp3?? If there is, is there a program I can download which will convert the file?? Any free downloads?? Thanks!

Answer:conversion of zip file to mp3

No, there is not a way to convert a ZIP file to MP3.

The ZIP extension indicates that a file or multiple files has/have been compressed into one file. Then you can EXTRACT all the files within the ZIP file.

If there is an MP3 inside a ZIP file, you can EXTRACT it and it will done and over with.

What is in your ZIP file?

If you have Windows XP, you can open the ZIP file just by double clicking it. If you have a different OS, you will need WINZIP or something that works with ZIP files.

You can get WINZIP here....

http://www.winzip.com/

Did that help a little?

I just got a new mp3 player(Dell Ditty). It has 512 mb of memory and is supposed to hold up to 220 songs. Right now it is full at 87 songs and almost all of the memory is used. I was told that to get more songs on the player I would have to convert the mp3 file to m4a files. I tried this using the Switch program found on an m4a website but it wouldn't convert the file because of copyright protection. I also tried converting the music files through Windows Media Player Audio Converter but it wouldn't do it for the same reason. What am I doing wrong? I am not very computer literate if that helps to know at all. I have a subscription to Napster and that is how I download all my music. Is there a different way I should be trying to convert these files? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Answer:m4a file conversion

Dont sweat the m4a conversion for now. You can simply shrink the existing MP3 to a lower bit rate. My guess is they are now either 128, 192 or even 256kb.
That is the bit rate it is sampled at. Regular CD music is around 44,100 kb. thats why a cd is 650 megs or so. Anyway, using a free program like Music match you can take the bit sampling down to 96kbs. That will half the size and double your song capacity. You will suffer a tiny bit of audio quality but it will still sound better than what you hear on a radio or TV.
You may also want to look into conveting them to WMA (windows media audio) Im pretty sure almost ALL mp3 players will play that format too and it also has a nice compresion ratio.

Was that program you tried a free one? I don't think you're going to find freeware to do this. From what I've seen, this is going to cost you significant bucks. For example: http://convert-ost-to-pst.convert-ost-to-pst.qarchive.org/

Perhaps you could explain the problem in more detail. Perhaps there's another solution.

I've tried two different utilities to do the conversion of music files from WMA to MP3 format. (I want to make a CD with a few hours of listening rather than carry a number of CDs) In each case the file conversion has worked OK BUT the MP3 files are almost exactly twice as big as the WMA files whereas I expected them to be much smaller. In the conversion I accepted the default bit rate of 128. I'm running Windows XP. Any ideas?

Answer:WMA file conversion to MP3

There is no appreciable difference between the size of MP3 files and WMA files--the latter are copyright protected. No one here will help you with that conversion and its not necessary anyway since if you have legal wma files, they can be burned to CD.

Question: File conversion

Hi. I really don't know where to ask this but I could really use some help.

I'm trying to find out if there is a way to convert a .BNL / .TVD file to a .DPR file. Its for those pens that you hover over a special book and it plays/recites whatever it is you hover over. The model I have is old and the newer models use the .BNL and/or .TVD while mine uses .DPR. The bnl/tvd files are available to download but unfortunately there is no way for me to use them. There is no help from the manufacture either so I'm really hoping there is a way to convert them. Thanks in advance

Answer:File conversion

I couldn't find a download that I trust for what you need. I did find a place that said they had a program that would do it, but I have never heard of the site OR developer before which makes me nervous. So I can't recommend and won't point you there. Sorry.

Seems to be a very old format, that you may or may not be able to convert, I did find that it can be compiled using .Net 1 (Object Pascal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) so maybe there is something out there. Will keep looking as I can.

How or even if its possible, do I convert cda audio files to wav files? Can it be done in Winamp? thanks

Answer:cda file conversion

Hiya

You can do it many ways, but if you're after Winamp, you
actually need two plugins: the Nullsoft Disk Writer plugin as your
output plugin to write the WAV files to disk (that one comes standard with Winamp), and the CD Reader plugin as your input plugin to extract digital audio from CDs (that one you'll have to download separately, from the plugins section of the Winamp site).

For that, here it is:

Question: File Conversion

I have Windows 7 and can't open .pdf and some .txt files. I get a box that says "File Conversion" and then the name of the file. Below it says "Windows", "DOS" and "Other Encoding" with radio buttons next to them. To the right side of the window it lists, Wang Taiwan, Western European(DOS), Western European(IA5), Western European(ISO), Western European(MAC)and Western European(Windows). Western European(Windows) is highlighted. Below that is a box that is called "Preview" with what looks like a bunch of binary code. I can't read the file.

What is going on here. I think I converted files at some point in the past. I did go to "Default Programs" and tried to change the program which opens files, but it didn't work. Any ideas???

Hello,     I would like to hear from anyone who can recommand me a software that is capable of converting TPI format to that of JPG or BMP.     I am using Win98SE, just for your information.

Answer:File Conversion

I can only find this info about TPI files: http://filext.com/file-extension/tpi, and it doesn't say much. Where are those files from?

I have a couple of UIF files I want to make into an ISO file. How do I go abouts doing it with magiciso?

Do I open the UIF file and extract it to another folder and when that is done, do I convert that file to an ISO file? If not how do I do this plz?

thx

Answer:UIF file conversion

Did you try just mounting the UIF and the using the Create ISO button? Or just using the Create ISO feature and using the UIF as the source?

There are also other ways to do it as well.

I have about a thousand asd files which are templates for a CNC maching but I need to convert them to a dwg or dxf file for autocad. Does anyone have any ideas. I've downloaded several conversion programs but none seem to be able to read the asd files. I have no idea how or why these are saved as asd files, but I'd like to convert them.
Please don't get to geeky, because I know just enough to get in trouble.

Answer:ASD file conversion

Most items like this are protected by the manufactures so they cannot be copied.

Where did you get these files?

Question: File-Conversion

Dear Friends,

In the past my .jpg files automatically opened in Internet Explorar. But I'm using Adobe Photoshop Elements to make adjustments to .jpg file photos, and I did something that caused all of my .jpg files to be converted into .jpg files that automatically open in Adobe Photoshop Elements.

How do I make a mass conversion of those files so that in the future they will all automtically open in IE?

Regards to all from,
Jack Owens

Answer:File-Conversion

Howdy and welcome

open one...right click on it and select "open with" then choose the program you wish to open them with as your default...put a check in the box that says "always use this program..." and ok out

you can use the same method for any file extention

Question: File Conversion

Not sure if I'm in the right forum, but the descriptions are pretty vague.

Anyway, I have a SWF file that I want to turn into a GIF (for free of course). I downloaded a few programs to try. Only one of them actually worked, but it added it's own text into the finished gif. Does anyone know a way to convert a swf file into a gif for free without any side effects?

Also, I have another gif that I want to crop. I just don't know how to edit the gif and keep it as a gif.

Answer:File Conversion

There are numerous sites and software. It's generally just a matter of trial and error. Such as this one: http://imgflip.com/gifgenerator
