I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Lenovo Y50 keyboard cleaning problem (solved)

Hi whitecheese131,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Check if you have active warranty for your tech support in warranty service.
Else review your system manual that can be downloaded from the support site for your model and check if there is also a module available from service training. With an air compressed can, you can blow dust particles safely from the sytemboard and filters.

Highlighted links can help as reference guide on opening the chassis and if you lack tools then a service center nearest you may be a better option.

Hope this help answer your query.

Hello, My girlfriend dropped lemonade on her keyboard and after a week it become so sticky that she could not type anymore because the keys would not pop back up. I cleaned the keyboard by manually removing all the keys and wiping what I could but it barely did anything. Ive searched the internet and came across a few people cleaning it by removing the keyboard and using solvents. Ive decided to use water at a mild temperature to do the trick. I made sure to let it dry enough before reinstalling it but I believe I did not let it dry enough. At first the navigator had a problem because the mouse would stay in the corner. I've removed the keyboard and realized that there was one part with a bit of water left... After drying it, it worked perfectly. This morning, when she opened her keyboard more than 50% of the keys are not working. Before deciding to buy a replacement keyboard I wanted to know if there's something I could do. It's a possibility that some water did not completely dry and there is still some residue where the current passes. What are your thoughts?

Hi, I just cleaned a T410 with a spray foam, as I always have done with the fluid proof thinkpad keyboard. But this the left button of the trackpoint mouse does not work anymore. Y removed the button and can see there is dust or dirty there. Also, when I apply compressed air I can see both transparent film separating from each other. There is nothing different from the right button that works fine. Does anyone what else can I try in order to fix this problem? Also, I would to understand why this had happened. Thanks Oliver

Answer:Problem after cleaning keyboard on a T410

I believe the moisture resistant keyboard is designed to seal against the keyboard bezel and palmrest in order to keep a small amount of liquid away from the motherboard by routing the liquid to places that will drain into the frame areas that dump into spill holes.  When I see machines that have had small liquid accidents, usually the motherboard is OK, but the keyboard is usually busted.  If it were mine and I wanted to save it, I would try to bake the keyboard (NOT THE COMPUTER) in an oven just under the boiling point of water - perhaps 95C or 200F.  I cannot guarantee that the rubber cups under the keys wouldn't be damaged, but that is what I would try, although I would expect that it might make it worse.    I tend to use such keyboards as organ donors for keyboards that need keys.

My winxp pro (sp3) system has been hit by pests, I wish I could identify.
Here're the symptoms:
1. Once in while, a few minutes when the computer is idle, longer intervals when active, a blue screen appears. The blue screen isn't a blue screen of death. It doesn't require rebooting. Activitiy can be restored either automatically, or by hitting CR. The STOP messages are diverse, some conventional but some like "systeminternals_great_site", or "Bogus_Driver". The sys files reported are almost any sys file on my system (and I suspect, even nonexisting sys files).
2. My Brother MFC-5440cn printer, USB connected, is unavailable. When I try reinstalling it, it's not recognized by the system. A few days ago it seemed like installation succeeded, but it failed since it failed to identify the legitimate port.
3. A few cases of host hosts file problems occurred, a situation which disconnected my browser's connectivity (MS Outlook continued without problems). Running smitfraudfix solves this problem.

Here's my hijachthis log:

Hi to all...I've lenovo g560 laptop whose keyboard is not working properly. Now, a replacement laptop keyboard for lenovo g570 is available at local market. So, will it be compatible with my lenovo g560..Thanks in advance

Answer:Is lenovo g570 laptop keyboard compatible with lenovo g560's keyboard

hi hamzaali52,

Welcome to the Forums.

Looking at the keyboard part numbers for the G560 (see page 79-80 of the HMM) and the G570 (see page 79-83 of the HMM), there are no matching part numbers between the two models, thus, the keyboard may fit but it may not work due to a whitelist of compatible parts or due to a different keyboard ribbon/cable layout.

I recommend you stick to the part numbers listed on the HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) for best compatibility.

Hello. I bought a new Lenovo y50-70 some 9 months ago or so and a few weeks ago some keyboard keys stopped working all of a sudden. I DID NOT hit or damage in anyway any part of the notebook which makes the problem a real mistery to me. Keys like f g h sometimes a or d doesn t work. Sometimes F1 i or p and some numbers. At first the problem was only with D Then it went to the other keys as well. The shop from where I bought can repair it without cost but they will keep the notebook for about 2 weeks which is NO WAY an option for me since I need it on a daily basis for work. Please tell me what to do, I tried formatting/reinstalling windows but it didn't work

Answer:Lenovo Y50-70 keyboard big problem

Hi anaspet25 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Ideal to most business and school laptops are warranty upgrade from usual default Depot repair , warranty can be upgraded to Onsite repair where onsite technician would do the repair on your location depending on countries available .

As such you may want to have your local IT to replace the keyboard and just have it sent out for the part instead.
You can review the hardware manual for the guide .

And since it would be included along with the entire top cover , replacing the keyboard would be replacing the entire top cover that is why Depot repair is recommended.

Uodate us how it goes.

I've had this laptop for months, but this problem only began today. Basically, several keys are acting very strange. Spacebar for example will also act as the Enter key and refresh webpages, right arrow will open a Find search, and pressing either v or b results in 'vb' (same with m and n).

Anyone have any idea what would cause this? Please help me guys, I use this machine every day and really need it to work  .

UPDATE: The keys seem to be "tied together" so to speak. As previously mentioned spacebar also acts as Enter, well Enter does the same. 3 and the asterisk on the numpad also act this way.

Hi All,I have a Lenovo G50 30 laptop and making lots of problems to me from the beginning.Lately, the keyboard was not working properly and I was suggested to upgrade the Bios. After updating Bios, the computer was not working b/c of some Bios settings. Fortunately I got help from the users on this page, not even local Lenovo Support Center helped me. But my keyboard is still not working well and when I push any button to write something, it is giving another instructions and the screen goes to sleep mode. So need your advises if any of you had the similar problem. Thank you.

Answer:Lenovo G50 30 Keyboard problem

Hi weirdo,

Try using an external USB keyboard,
If the external keyboard does not show thisproblem
Then I would consider replacing the Keyboard on your system.
You can contact Lenovo Technical Team about this issue, It seems that your system is still within 1 year warranty claims

Hello
This is my first post here so please be kind!

The keyboard of my Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop has developed a fault. It uses XP Pro

A few keys have started to map to the wrong letters

't' is displayed as 'tb'
'y' as 'yn'
'b' as 'tb' and
'n' as 'yn'

This is both in lower and upper case and affects all software including at the Dos prompt. All the other letters are OK

Also,

'Backspace' deletes 1 character but leaves the cursor in its original position
'Space' does nothing at all unless it is held down and then I get repeated spaces with no carriage return! This is also the same effect when holding down the Backspace.

Any ideas on what is wrong and how I can get back to the original correct mappings?

Thanks

Steve

Hello, I have a 1.5 years old thinkpad x60 laptop. Yesterday I removed the keyboard and gave it a thorough cleaning by holding it under warm running water. I plugged it in after an hour. In the beginning, everything was working except the trackpoint. I checked the mouse/trackpoint driver and it showed nothing under the hardware, so I re-installed the trackpoint drivers. There was no change. Neither the trackpoint worked nor it showed anything under control panel>mouse>properties. After a while the keyboard stopped working too. I unscrewed the keyboard again and re-installed it. Again the same thing happened. The keyboard (not trackpoint) was working for a while and then it stopped working. Now after 10 hours neither the keyboard nor the trackpoint is working. I can't even switch on the laptop as the power button is not working either.  When I plugin the AC adapter it just shows the battery and AC power sign (which means the battery is hopefully working fine), Any help will be greatly appreciated.Regards,-C

It may take longer to have all the liquid evaporate from the keypad. Use a can of computer air to gently blow air under the keys, or set a fan to blow on the keyboard for a few hours then try again. If it still fails, you may need a replacement keyboard. They are usually less than $30 USD and easily swapped out. The Maintenance Manual for your notebook can be found on the support tab of this website. Enter your serial number, open the documents listing and then download your manual.Good luck.CB

Hi all, recently, I've encountered a problem with my laptop, Lenovo Y460p.
Although I'm not typing anything, the vertical symbol ||||||||| keeps coming out. I didn't press anything, automatically came out.
It will also automatically open Internet Explorer.
When I press a key, eg. K. It will stop for a second and continue coming out. More Internet explorer will open too.
When I close it opens again.
It is very irritating and annoying. I can't type. By after awhile, the problem MIGHT stop for awhile but still continue. I can't even play or surf the net properly

What could the problem be? Any ideas? Please help

Answer:My Lenovo G570 keyboard problem

Hi Anitajp ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

When did the issue started ? A system restore would be able to correct this as it most likely be triggered by an application change / registry / drivers setting since both external keyboard would be doing it. Just jump back to a previous working date , then apply appropriate security scan to make sure that it is not software related.

How about typing in a notepad then counter check in your email .
Try doing safe mode and see if you are having same issue .
If you pull out onscreen keyboard from ease of access , would you have the same problem?

You can also refresh your BIOS by shutting down your PC , unplug the adapter and remove the battery , Press and hold down the power button for 12 seconds and place the battery and ac charger back .
Turn on using the Novo button instead of the power button to access BIOS ,
F9 to set to defaults , F10 save and exit.

Try these steps and update us how it is on your pc.

Im so appreciate if anyone help me about it.Yours sincerely,

Answer:Lenovo L460 Keyboard Problem

Hi.

I never got that issue, but what I may suggest is some "trial and error".
0) I'm not sure if on this model you can accidentally turn on the numeric NumLock. Is it showing u, i , o as numbers?
1) Try plugging an external keyboard and work with it for a while. Does it produce the same issue?
2) Try to get a Live CD (or USB boot) of a Linux distro and play with it for a while to see if you experience the same keyboard issue. If the issue appears, maybe it is a hardware related problem with the keyboard, otherwise it may be some Windows issue.

Sorry that I don't have the solution, it some trial and error.

I bought my Lenovo u31-70 two months ago. It works perfectly fine until 2 days ago the keyboard and touch pad suddenly stopped working but I didn't do anything special.  I tried to restart and eveytime it takes approximately 7 to 10 minutes for the screen to light up after I have pressed the power button, and only found the touchpad and keyboard still unresponsive.  Then I tried to call the lenovo support, they offered me several ways to fix this, even restore factory settings, but none of them worked. I found there are some other people had the same problem with me and the solved it by upgrading the BIOS. When I tried to upgrade the BIOS as suggested, it gives me the information that "The version of ROM file is the same as that of BIOS". I cannot install it. So the problem still remains. Does anyone in the lenovo support specialists team can help me with that? I'll appreciate your help very much. It really drives me crazy as I am in another country and cannot send my PC repaired here. Please help me!

So, I started using my laptop today and randomly the 'q' key started typing itself. I use a Wireless keyboard and rarely touch the laptop keyboard, so I am not sure why this problem started. What I tried -1) I disabled wireless keyboard and still 'q' kept on typing. (So, not a wireless keyboard problem) 2) I removed the laptop 'q' key and cleaned it and place it back again.(Even when the key was removed 'q' kept on typing on screen - magic) 3) I started the system in safe mode and still 'q' kept on typing 4) I reset BIOS, removed battery and connected again and still 'q' kept on typing. My final solution was to go to Device Manager and Install a crap (Incompatible) driver for my laptop keyboard, which essentially stopped it from working. Now, I am using the wireless keyboard to post this message and the laptop keyboard is disabled. Can anyone please identify the root cause of this problem? I have never spilled any liquid on my laptop. I will try identifying the problem tomorrow, all help is appreciated.Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo Y510P Keyboard problem

hi rockykoston,

From your observation and troubleshooting, I fear that the keyboard is malfunctioning. You can try using keyboard testing software like Passmark's KeyboardTest to verify the functionality of the keyboard.

In addition, you can try and reseat the keyboard ribbon (see page 44-47 of the HMM). If that doesn't work, you may need to contact lenovo on how to go about getting the keyboard replaced.

Answer:Keyboard problem on Lenovo Yoga 2 13

hi mudi1997,

Thanks for Posting!

There aint a feature that changes the sensitivy of  the Keyboard, It is plain mechanical when pressing a key.
Try checking if there is a dirt or any foreign things under the key,
If non, Then it might be that the O key is not properly attached, If you are not comfortable reseating the Key, You should Call Lenovo Technical Team for assistance.

Answer:lenovo ideapad z 570 keyboard problem

Hi jsaab, new to forum but thought I'd give my thoughts as I had a Y570. Could do with knowing which buttons malfunction and in which apps. It could be phyiscal ware,  such as the gamer keys WASD or the direction keys. It could be a temperature problem with malfunction happening after a certain uptime. If all keys feel OK and the same to type with then possibly a software problem. Try typing all keys into notepad and see if all produce correct alph-numerical characters. But do need to know which keys or key combos and in which apps

Today I opened my fairly new laptop(I got it in the middle of may) and when started typing I noticed that the "X" doesn't work properly. I have to press it harder. Yesterday I didn't notice such problem. Another thing that I noticed is that there is something beneath the down-right corner of the key. In the other corners the key sinks in completely. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Once when I had my laptop come back from the depot for a system board replacement, they had completely missed one of the keyboard screws -- and it behaved as you described (although, all my keys worked, the keyboard was soft). Check out the hardware guide, it's actually pretty easy to pop off they keyboard and have a look: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/63y0536.pdf

Hello The keyboard of my Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop has developed a fault. It uses XP Pro A few keys have started to map to the wrong letters 't' is displayed as 'tb''y' as 'yn''b' as 'tb' and'n' as 'yn' This is both in lower and upper case and affects all software including at the Dos prompt. All the other letters are OK Also, 'Backspace' deletes 1 character but leaves the cursor in its original position'Space' does nothing at all unless it is held down and then I get repeated spaces with no carriage return! This is also the same effect when holding down the Backspace. I have checked the Language settings in Control Panel but everything looks OK Any ideas on what is wrong and how I can get back to the original correct mappings? Thanks Steve

Use a Linux Live CD to test your keyboard. If the problem dissapears, the main problem is Windows. If it doesn't, you need to replace the keyboard.

I am using Lenovo Y50-70 and Razer Blackwidow external keyboard. Both keyboards used to work great together but recently when I press the ALT key on my Razer the current window closes. When I continue pressing the ALT key it closes everything and "Shut down Windows" window begins to flash. It's like an F4 key is also pressed. The problem doesn't occur when I use the ALT key on my laptop but "ALT+F4" combination doesn't work, I mean without my external keyboard I can't use "ALT+F4". The weird part is when I press ALT on my laptop, it fixes the issue on my Razer for a while (I can press the ALT on my Razer, and it doesn't close anything) but after couple hours or when I reboot the laptop, the issue is still there. So for the past couple weeks, I press the ALT key on my laptop keyboard first when I start to use my computer properly. It is really frustrating when I forgot to do that because, for example, I use "ALT+TAB" on my Razer quite a lot and I accidentally close everything. I don't know what may be the cause. I tried to update all drivers, bios and every possible related software. I tried to clean the dust under the button but I don't know what else I can do if it's hardware related. I am pretty sure I can live without the F4 button on my laptop, my main concern is I don't want to close windows accidentally while using an external keyboard. So I hope I could explain what my problem is. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

It seems that I've found a method to swap FN and CTRL buttons on Lenovo Y550 keyboard. Now I need testers. If you are interested then do the following: 1) Download this Phoenix tool, run appropriate WinPhlash.exe as administrator, choose "Backup BIOS only" under "WinPhlash Operation" header and press "Backup BIOS" button. Be careful don't try to flash BIOS placed in WinPhlash folder cause it's Lenovo Y450 BIOS. 2) Send dumped firmware to me ([email protected]). I'll patch it to swap FN and CTRL keys. After that I'll send you the modded BIOS.  UPDATE:Please don't send me your BIOS dumps anymore. Here is the link to the final solution: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-and-U-series-Laptops/FN-CTRL-swap-on-Lenovo-Y550-keyboard/m-p/... I've also made such a mod for Lenovo Y450 BIOS. Whenever I type out the letters n, it comes out at 6n. B comes out as 5b. 5 comes out as 5b and 6 comes out as 6n.I had just recently went out to a local quickfixus repair center and for about 2-3 weeks, the keyboard was fine. Now, it's back to being this way. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Answer:Lenovo 3000 n100 keyboard problem

I am having this identical problem. It just started randomly yesterday - I didn't spill anything on the laptop or drop it. I called Lenovo support and the agent tried to help me as best he could. We went through a number of options like resetting the BIOS and testing the Fn key, but nothing worked. I was under the impression this was a software error (using default Vista installation, but I have seen this error pop up on the Ubuntu (linux) forums as well, so it could be a hardware or BIOS problem. I tried using an external USB keyboard and that worked fine - again making me think this could be a problem related to the physical laptop keys. What apparently happens is that  when you press a few certain keys, like 5,N,6,B or a couple others. It causes them to both register in the computer. So for instance, if you press B the computer registers 5 and B being pressed together and 5B comes up on screen. I really noticed this in the Lenovo diagnostics (F11 when computer boots) while doing the keyboard test. When you press (i.e.) B, the test shows that both 5 and B have been pressed. Has anyone else had this problem and had a resolution. I might consider that something has simply shorted out, but the similarity (exact same keys) between this, the original poster and a couple others I have seen on the net makes me think it could be something else.

Hi, I just bought this laptop 2 days ago, and i really am impressed with how it performs. The only problem i've incountered earlier this morning is that some of the keys in the keyboard didn't work (the P,Z,C keys). I left it on sleep the night before.  After i restarted and remove my mouse from the laptop, it suddenly works again. My question is, is this showing some sign of malfunctioning keyboard? I don't want to always have to restart my laptop and doing all the steps above. Any advice?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

So I had one of those TDSS Google Redirect virus things. It wasn't too much of a problem but it was irritating. Anti-virus things would automatically close a few seconds after I started any scan. So I figured that it would be much easier to just put it back to factory settings (I didn't have much saved any way).

So after the factory reset, during the Windows 7 Installation the mouse wasn't moving. Then I plugged in my USB mouse in and it started moving. I don't have a USB Keyboard so I used the on screen keyboard to fill out the rest. However when I try to use the inbuilt Keyboard and Touchpad they don't respond. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for both, I have updated the BIOS, I've tried using function and F8 all to no avail.

The keyboard works in the BIOS (I can select Safe Mode, etc) but not in Safe Mode or actual Windows.

BTW the laptop is Lenovo G550 if that helps anyone.

Can someone please help? Thanks!

I checked the keyboard settings, I haven't changed the layout settings, the only things that changed is he 't' button; when I type 't', I get a PageDown, all the other buttons work fine.I restarted the computer and checked Windows 7 as well. I had the same problem. I booted to Ubuntu again, I still had the same problem. I tried the Ubuntu Live pendrive, and still, I can not write a 't' on my keyboard.I googled the problem, but unfortunately I couldn't find anything. Almost all the problems with the keyboard are because of he NumLock button, but I don't think that is problem now. I didn't drop the computer, no water, beer or anything else. I have a valid warranty, probably I bring my laptop today back to the store, but only jerks work there, when I asked about installing Linux on this compuer, they said I lose the warrany, which just can't be true, can it? Anyway, I would be happy for the solution of that problem, if I face again this problem, I don't want to run back to the store again... What do you think? What could be the p... Read more

Answer:Lenovo u300s - strange keyboard problem

A few minutes ago the keyboard on my U300s also started doing weird things with the T-key. I was working in Kubuntu 12.04 when after a normal reboot the letter 't' was changed in the ~ sign. When booting in Windows 7 the same problem. I remember reading a comment about a similar issue on the ubuntu forums.I'm very curious about what is causing this behavior and even more, I want to know how to solve this. Sure, remapping the key works in Linux, but only in X-environtment and not in the other tty's.Cheers,Sander

Hi,I bought a Lenovo B50-70 from Ebuyer just before Christmas and it has developed a strange fault. The C V & H keys don't work when pressed in lower case but if you put caps lock on they work and if caps lock is on and you press the arrow key and the letter key they will type lower case.Anyone had this before?Being 2 months old its still under guarantee but was hoping there was something I could do to repair it rather than sending it back for a replacement.Thanksrevy32

Answer:Lenovo Essential B50-70 Laptop keyboard problem

Welcome to the Lenovo Community revy32 !

A couple of things to try......

First, try reinstalling the keyboard, mouse, touchpad driver.  The link below is for the available drivers from Lenovo for your model. Just select your operating system in the top box for the correct driver listing.......

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-b-series-laptops/lenovo-b50-70-...

Secondly, if you have a USB keyboard available, try that.

If the USB keyboard works without problems and the driver installation didn't resolve the problem then I would suspect a faulty keyboard that needs to be replaced.  You can find the phone number for Lenovo Support in your country or area by using the link below....http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/supportphonelist_alt1

Right now I have a problem with the w key on my laptop key board.  For all the other keys it registers a press when you feel the key give way.  However for my w key you do not have to press it, only rest you finger lightly on it and it will register a keystroke.  This is a problem for me because I rest my finger on W S and E all at the same time which leads to a lot of random w's throughout my typing.  Let me know if there is anything I can do other than replace my keyboard.

Answer:Lenovo Flex 3 1580 Keyboard problem

Hi 18jadietrich,

Greetings.

Try if you have the same issue using an external USB keyboard.

As the way described seems to be mechanical in nature and may need hardware servicing.
If your warranty is still active, best to call in technical support to avoid voiding warranty.

Users are not required to do manual troubleshooting other than checking if the W key is cleared from foreign materials causing this using compressed air cans.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

When my T570 restarts, sometimes it stacks at the logo screen like forever. I have to press the power button to kill the power off then it can be Stared normally. Another problem: The X key on my keyboard doesn?t work well, I have to press hard to input letter X. Any suggestions of this? Do I need to replace the whole keyboard?  I am kind of disappointed on Lenovo quality control, how a big company let this small issue happen...

i have a similar situation with the same notebook the only difference is that the set of keys for my notebook are different that stop working after careful observation for over one month i have found out that this is (probably) related to overheating of the notebook if the CPU temperatures remain below 60 degrees celcius all is fine on my notebook, once they go above this mark the keys stop functioning like the caps lock, TAB, right shift key , T, Y , [ ] and backspace the keeps are working right now because the CPU temps are at 58 degrees celcius  i am using a cooling pad which has helped reduce my CPU temps by 8-10 degrees however since i live in a very hot city (Lahore, Pakistan) with temperatures soaring to 50 degrees celcius!!! unfortunately i have to sit under an air conditioner to keep my keys working i hope this helps you as i was quite frustrated with this problem myself, now that i (think) i know what is the cause i aint frustrated!!!!

Hello,I've been using a Lenovo S210 Touch for nearly a year now and I have never experienced any problems such as this before. My laptop's keyboard is not working properly. Sometimes only certain keys work and other times they dont. Also when I press down a single key, multiple keys are typed. This is extremely frustrating because I highly prefer the keyboard to the touch screen and I would welcome any solution.I have already tried:cleaning keysreseting computer in safe modeturning on and off numlockturning off filter keysthanks

Lenovo IdeaPad U330 Touch - Keyboard Problem I currently have a problem on my keyboard / touchpad. The keys stopped working randomly. And this also affects the screen keyboard of the computer, making the computer almost unusable . Using a USB connected external keyboard it works well . I think a connectivity problem . The computer has not suffered shock and symptoms have appeared overnight . Could you help me.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad U330 Touch - Keyboard Problem

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Try going into Windows Device Manager and then uninstall the laptop's keyboard.  Once uninstalled, reboot the computer and Windows will automatically reinstall the keyboard and possibly correct the problem.

If you haven't done so already, I would also recommend that you do a clean install of the Touchpad / Keyboard drivers.  Just uninstall them, reboot the computer and then install a fresh copy.  The link below is for the available drivers from Lenovo for your model. Just select your operating system in the top box for the correct driver listing.......

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-u-series-laptops/ideapad-u330-...

If the problem continues, try going into the BIOS Setup and see if it persists there.  Page #25 of your model's User Guide will explain how to access the BIOS Setup.  Here is link to that guide.....

https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_u330pu330touchu430pu430touch_ug_english.pdf

If the problem continues then it is most likely a hardware issue and it will need additional service.

I have a Lenovo W530 Windows 7 Professional and recently I purchased a Lenovo Multimedia Remote with Keyboard N5902 when I plug in the USB dongle it says the driver will not install, but I can see that the device is visible to my machine via the directory: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers . I think this may be a problem with my registry, but I do not really know. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I should do?

Answer:Lenovo Multimedia Remote with Keyboard N5902 Problem

Hi, Lorak1

Have you attempted to install the driver manually? You can find the driver here. Also, it may help to save the file to your computer and then install the driver in Safe Mode to give the driver the best chance of installing.

To boot into Safe Mode:

Restart your computer
Begin tapping F8 at the splash screen
Continue tapping it until a menu appears
Select Safe Mode from the menu (Safe Mode with Networking if you require the Internet)
Hit Enter

Best of luck, and let me know how it goes
Adam

I just bought Lenovo G400s notebook last day , i would like to use the standard F1-F12 key in some application/ software. The problem is that instead of just pressing F2 I have to now press and hold the Fn key + F2. Is there a way to switch back to standard key just like the software for usb slim keyboard? I checked my BIOS there are no option to switch Fn Key or hotkey mode, Fn Key Lock option under the Configuration tab. Any solution can solve my problem?  Thanks

Hi All,I have a Z400 touch. The keys "8", "I", "K", and "< ," are not working, even in safe mode. I strongly suspect it is due to dust, and I should clean under the keys. My question is; is it okay to pry those keys off the board directly with a screwdriver? Or would it get damaged? EDIT: I bought this machine in 2014, used it as my primary computer until around March 2017, after which I've been using a different laptop. I'm trying to rejuvenate my old laptop at the moment, so it could be used by someone else. Thanks.

Hi, I'm reporting the same problem as this user back in February of this yearhttp://forum.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=N_Series_Lenovo_3000&message.id=10751 I have exactly the same problem - I have owned my N200 for 12 months and 20 days (so just out of warranty!) and now I have a problem with the keyboard. 8 keys - the TAB, CAPSLK, Left Shift, Backspace, T, Y, [, ] won't work in BIOS or after I have booted in to Windows (XP SP2) but an external USB keyboard works fine. The problem was intermittent in the morning but then I couldn't get these keys to work at all. After reading the above post I tried holding down the backspace key - and yes it resolved the problem for a while. I can understand a keyboard fault but not how holding down the backspace key for a while can resolve this! Please help

I'm having a strange problem with the keyboard on a newly acquired Lenovo 3000 N200 0769. The notebook came to me from work, it had been messed up trying to remove Vista, and it wouldn't boot from the CD or enter the BIOS, it was just stuck trying to run Rescue and Recovery over-and-over without a working service partition.   I've managed to get Windows7 installed on the machine and it working fine except for a couple of things.  The touchpad doesn't work (not recognised by the system) .  I suspect hardware in this case, so I've got a replacement touchpad coming.   The bigger problem is the keyboard.  It doesn't work at all when the machine boots up.  This means I can't enter the BIOS, and I can't press "any key" to boot from a CD.  As soon as Windows (or Ubuntu, which I used to help recover the machine) loads the keyboard driver, the keyboard springs to life and works perfectly (I'm typing this message on the keyboard) Because the keyboard works perfectly when drivers are installed, I'm inclined to think that the keyboard hardware is OK.  With Windows installed, I've upgraded the BIOS to the latest version, with no change to the problem.    I've tried using a USB keyboard (before flashing the BIOS), but it doesn't work either until the operating system loads.  I've also tried resetting the BIOS using the contact in the harddrive compartment.  This causes the BIOS to complain and offer F1 or F2, b... Initially, the keyboard was working just fine. Howevee, out of the blue the keys: t, y, shift, and backspace do not respond at all anymore. The touch screen keyboard works so i believe the error is in the physical keyboard. I am not using an external keyboard and hope to get some help in resolving thos problem before i start college!  This is only one of the pronlems i have with this computer but the only one that needs fixing. Please and thanks in advance.

Answer:Weird keyboard problem, Lenovo p400 touch (Please help)

hi epicgear60,

Try booting the system in Safemode.

But if it's still the same
If the System is still in warranty It would be best to call Lenovo Technical Team,
Or If you're comfortable checking the Keyboard Cable connection, You can check this maintenance Manual of your system to get access to Keyboard connection, Remove and reconnect the Connection and see if that'll work.

Question: Cleaning keyboard

Can the keys be popped off for cleaning out stuff that gets trapped under them on a W700?

Answer:Cleaning keyboard

Yes, but if you are not careful while you remove the keys you could break the mechanism below the keys. In that case you might not be able to attach the key again. There are other methods for cleaning the keyboard without removing the keys. I'm not sure what kind of dirt you got under the keys, but i would say that it's normally not necessary to remove the keys. -gan
