How do i get True 24-bit Colour

Question: How do i get True 24-bit Colour

Dear all, After having Installed a New Hard Drive and Re-Installed Windows 98 last night with help from some kind people on here. I now basically have a problem being that the Display only shows 2 or 16 Colours and i need to get True Colour 24-Bit.I've Installed Belarc Advisor and it just says Standard PCI Graphics Adaptor so i need to find the proper Driver for this. I'm sure this is a problem i had before and eventually found one and was told to add a command line in Sysedit (i think that's what it was anyway), so any help n this problem would be much appreciated. Many ThanksAndy

Preferred Solution: How do i get True 24-bit Colour

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: How do i get True 24-bit Colour

You need to update your drivers, if you have the installation disk for your graphics card then pop it into the drive and run it. If you have on-board graphics the drivers will be on the m/b disk if you have none of the above you will have to find out what graphics card you have and download the drivers from the internet.

Question: TRUE COLOUR

Hi,
I just got a Inspiron 17 5767, and swapped out the HDD after a couple of days. I downloaded the Dell OS recovery USB stick, believing it would allow me to fully restore the laptop to its factory state, including all preinstalled apps etc. Unfortunatly it doesnt. All the preinstalled apps etc are missing, it literally just installs Windows 10. I've redownloaded pretty much everything else, but I cant find the download for the "True Colour" app. anyone know where I can get this?

Updated drivers for  Nvidia Graphics card.  Reset the Collection under 'Features' in Settings.

Hi there gurus.
My pc doesn?t show certain colour objects in Publisher 2007 and some on-line sites. Overall, the screen colour is very good. I know the fault is localised, because when I switch to Print Preview in Publisher it looks fine and I can see all the object colours. (I only lose the colour with objects, not text)
Also, when I send a copy of a Publisher page to my partner who is on the same PC, it looks fine on her screen.
I?ve tried going to Install/uninstall programs and run the Repair, but to no avail. The guys in my computer shop are clueless without seeing it. Anyone who can help solve this for me is a gem.
Cheers!

What's cheaper: colour laser with genuine ink or colour inkjet with compatible inks?

I'm happy to invest in buying a colour laser: but I can't find any refills for lasers
At least they don't seem to be widely available

So, my choice is: colour laser + genuine inks or colour inkjet + compatible inks

From what I know, side by side: laser's are cheaper
But, how about when compared to genuine laser ink to compatible colour inkjet inks?

I should stress that for me needs, I am not overly concerned if using compatibles doesn't give me perfect results - just close as possible is fine for me

What's more important probably is speed of print at highest quality

ANY feedback would be great

Thanks

Answer:What's cheaper: colour laser with genuine ink or colour inkjet with ink compatibles?

Finding Compatible Remanufactured Color Toner cartridges can be dicey. While they may be available, the problem may end up being the company tht does the remanufaturing. It is also dependant upon the model printer you get. I have noticed that the savings on my Black Canon X-25 toner cartridge is only about $12 lower than the cost of a Factory original cartridge. There are sites that I would save up to $30 per cartridge, but part of this is eaten up by the shipping charges. For my toner cartridge, I am about 1/2 mile from the store that does nothing but ink and toner refill services, and their garauntee thier cartridges 100%. In 3 years I have only had to return one cartridge and it was an HP #17 Color cartridge.

Now per page printing cost on a laser is much cheaper than on an inkjet. Though the printer cost itself is usually much higher for a Laser. Personally I use the laser much more than than my Inkjet, but I do use the inkjet for all color printing. But then 95% of my printing is monochrome text.

Hi, I'm using the Aerolite theme with Aeroglass, and want a consistent colour for the borders. So I set accent colour from background 'off' and choose the colour. Fine so far.

Now that's ok if I log off and on.

But if I sleep or hibernate (not personally ) and then resume, the colour and setting are lost.

I noticed that on resuming, the border colour is present until the 'Please wait' screen appears, after which these settings are lost.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Best thing to do is contact Acronis directly and ask if it is a genuine offer.

I found the easiest way to achieve this was to print the picture and then adjust my screen to match. Once you've adjusted the screen all future pictures which look too light or dark, on screen, can be adjusted to suit within your software.

Hi Allhope someone more knowledgable can advise - I recently purchased a Lexmark x500n multifunction colour laser printer - I had a big black print job to do excel and word - 2000 pages - i was shocked to see that - ok the black starter cartridge of 2500 pages was nearly empty- fair enough - but all three colour cartridges (1500 page size) were nearly all empty too - I hadn't done any colour printing but when i contacted the manuf they advised that the printer uses colour also to print black!! - it's getting returned to them - but do do all colour lasers do this - obviously this quadruples the costs of printing and has put my costing out of the window!! - any advice would be great - it's a network colour printer, with copier and scanner that I need - a fax would be great but not essential.thanks in advanceTrifly

Answer:COLOUR LASER - PRINTING BLACK USING COLOUR!!

That would pee me off no end. How in God's name can it use colour to create black when there's a black cartridge in there? A cheapo mono laser seems to be your ideal tool. I know nothing about colour laser printers, but is there an option anywhere in the settings to print using only the black cartridge? Does the printer still work if you take out the colour cartridge while printing only black text documents?

Hello.

I seriously need help with my PC. I've reinstalled Windows XP and Service Pack 2, and I can't chnge the Screen resolution or the colour quality. It sucks. The resolution stays at 800x600, the lowest possible, and the colour quality stays at 8 bit. I think I have a ATI 128 MB DDR Radeon 9800 Pro. I dunno whether thats a driver or what. And I also don't know my graphics card, or whether that will help at all.

I would swear at this point but I'm too young.

Oh but I'll use this instead

Has anyone got any help for me that I can understand. I'm 14 but I still can understand most computer talk.

Anyway thanks very much for reading all this crap and please try not to point out all my spelling mistakes.

Heya, welcome to the forums

Okay, it has to do with your drivers. Go to ATI's website and find your driver.

Here's the link

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html

Please download and install both the Control Center as well as the Display driver. Then restart your computer and try to change the resolution.

I'm wondering exactly what improvements and changes have been made that might make it worthwhile to upgrade. I don't much care about cosmetic changes, only in those that actually make the program work better.

I took a look at the Acronis website, but didn't find a change log, only literature to promote sales. Is it actually worth the cost to upgrade?

Answer:True Image 2011 vs True Image 2010

I haven't used it in several years.

But I know a guy who resells it. According to his web site, here is what is new. I have no idea if this is accurate or if it's worth it to upgrade. This info may be the same stuff you are seeing in Acronis literature.

Someone told me that on 10/100 switch, if several clients are running at 10mbps, it will cause the rest of the computers on the switch to run at the lower speed of 10mbps even though they are connected at 100mbps...i dont think this is fesable but your input would help.

Answer:Is this true?

you can only go as fast as your slowes link lets you.

example -

however if you are tranismitting between two 100Mbps computers on a 10/100 switch you will get 100Mbps throughput

Hello everybody. ? couple of years ago i had a conversation with a friend of mine (computer technician) about the free AV's and the big Companies behind them. So, he told me that whenever you download a free av( your choice here) the company that owns that, sometimes sends you anonymously virus that the company itself is making them to TEST their product on YOU. So if your av doesnt catch the virus and your computer is damaged they dont even care. They just want to test their av ignoring the consequences of their actions. I dont know if this is true or has a little truth in it but thats why im asking your opinion about this .

I dont accuse any company or anyone else.

Is it true that a computer is only as fast as the slowest component? Or am I confusing something here?

Answer:Is this true?

No Aimee it is not true.

A computer is far to complex a machine for this statement to apply. There are many different factors involved in how fast a particular computer accomplishes a particular task.

Some of these are hardware related, which I assume you are talking about, some are software related and some depend upon the task itself. Furthermore some tasks go at a set speed regardless of the computer concerned for example all 56K modems work at - you guessed it 56K.

I read somewhere that if you install windows xp on a hard-drive and then transfer the hard drive it wont work, is this true?

Answer:Is it true?

Hello,

You mean transfer the drive to another PC?

It does work, I've done it many times between my PCs.

...However, problems can arise when chipset drivers and hardware drivers that are installed on that specific hard drive cause a conflict because obviously, the hardware is no longer there in the new machine. You might then experience BSOD after POST and occasions where the system refuses to boot into Windows.

It's strongly not advised, because the particular copy of Windows will not have the required drivers, and or be configured to operate optimally in that machine (for example, it may have less RAM and a different GPU).

Researchers Warn of File-Destroying Worm
By ANICK JESDANUN, AP Internet Writer
Tue Jan 31, 1:23 PM ET

NEW YORK - If you have computer files you'd rather not lose, now is a good time to make sure your anti-virus software is up to date. A worm set to activate Friday will corrupt documents using the most common file types, including ".doc," ".pdf," and ".zip."

Hundreds of thousands of machines are believed to be infected, mostly in India, Peru, Turkey and Italy, said Mikko Hypponen, chief research officer for Finnish security company F-Secure Corp.

The worm, known as "CME-24," "BlackWorm," "Mywife.E" or a number of other monikers, even tries to disable anti-virus software that is out of date, he said.

Thus, users should make sure their software is turned on and has the latest definitions, generally available for free from the software vendor's Web site. F-Secure also has created a free removal tool.

"If you are infected, and you find out about it today, you still have time to get rid of the virus," Hypponen said.

As worms go, the spread of BlackWorm is relatively low. But worms these days are generally designed to help spammers and hackers carry out attacks, not to destroy files as this one does. So the impact this time may be more severe.

Microsoft Corp. issued an advisory Tuesday warning customers about the worm, which affects most versions of its Windows operating system.

I seriously doubt it, games use the videocard memory for textures and it helps higher resolutions. System memory keeps it running and the publiser's recommend systems specs is 1GB so doubling that is enough.

Microsoft's PowerHit system is a DRM application keyed to the company's Power Management technology. Ok so let me start by saying that I am building my own computer from parts that I will be ordering off newegg. The specs of my pc will be something along the lines of a 1tb hard drive, 4gb memory, phenom 2 quad core processor, and all the good stuff you need to make a ballin computer.

Now, on to my question. As you all know, by building my own computer, it will not be coming with an operating system pre installed in it. Well since my mom works at Indiana University, I can get Windows 7 64 bit for real cheap, but if you read here (IUware Package) it says that you have to already have a previous version of windows installed on your computer to install windows 7. Im not very savvy when it comes to software, so could someone elaborate for me?

Answer:Is it true that they do this?

Sounds like it is an upgrade key.

You are supposed to have a qualifying version of windows already.

It says 7 qualifies - you could install 7100RC - with a key ( it's free) and use that. MS are no longer providing the d/l of 7100 - you probably know someone who has one. I believe you can still get the keys - they only gave out 10 - so any one will do. Get it from your friend, or Ixquick for it.

Hard to believe there isn't a way to install on a blank HD - time will tell.

Once you have it installed - make an image and save it somewhere safe - just in case you need to reinstall sometime in the future - put the image back on instead.

Macrium Reflect free is a great free image program.

Question: true or bs?

hi all. i received this email today and was wondering how accurate it was.
thanks for your help.HOW TO PROTECT YOUR ADDRESS BOOK!
I learned a computer trick today that's really ingenious in its
simplicity. As you may know, when/if a worm virus gets into your computer
it heads straight for your e-mail address book, and sends itself to
everyone in there, thus infecting all your friends and associates.
This trick won't keep the virus from getting into your computer, but it
will stop it from using your address book to spread further, and it will
alert you to the fact, that the worm has gotten into your system.

Here's what you do:

First, open your address book and click on "new contact," just as you
would do if you were adding a new friend to your list of e-mail
addresses. In the window where you would type your friend's first name,
type in AAAAAAA. Same in space labeled screen name.

Now, here's what you've done and why it works:

The "name" AAAAAAA will be placed at the top of your address book as
>entry #1. This will be where the worm will start in an effort to send
itself to all your friends. But, when it tries to send itself to AAAAAAA,
it will be undeliverable because of the phony email address you entered.
If the first attempt fails (which it will because of the phony address),
the worm goes no further and your friends will not be infected.

Here's the second great advantage of this method:

If an email cannot be... Read more

is it true in windows XP(pro or home) if you have 2 moniter's and 2 inputs for them on the computer, window's will automatically switch to duel-screen mode?

Answer:true...

I think you'd probably need to use the setup tool that came with the graphics card, but if it has two video outputs then it will definitely allow you to do it, and it's very intuitive, so you can't really get too lost.

-EDIT

Then again, it might be different for each graphics card, so I may be wide of the mark here. All I know is that onmy system, it needs to be set up to use dual-monitors, but it just involves about three mouse-clicks and it's done.

Had you just updated your Adobe Flash? If so you may have neglected to opt out of this additional download. It's a valid password manager from Intel. You should be able to uninstall it via the Control Panel in the usual fashion.

Then back on MSN, he told me that I did a great job of making my computer safe, that after scanning me, he only opened ports 25 and 110 or something like that.
I'm just wondering, did I REALLY do something? Because I don't recall doing anything technical, except for S&D, maybe that was it... lol

Question: Is this true?

Your modem should be as close to the broadband entry point in your home as possible. If you're on ADSL Max up to 8Mb, moving your modem closer to the faceplate can increase your internet speed by up to 3Mb.I am getting on average 3.88 Mb/s download and upload is about 0.42 Mb/s, and my router is about 50ft from the entry point.

Answer:Is this true?

Is it always true : NOCan it sometimes be true : YESIt depends on the quality of internal wiring used and the connections. The only way to find out is to try, and unscrew the mastersocket faceplate and you should fine a test socket to use which will give you the best possible connection within the house.

Question: is this true?

After you format your hard drive people can still access what was on it before? My friend told be that cause i formatted somebodies computer and it had a bunch of personal info on it and they asked me if it was gone and i said yes so is it gone? Or can somebody still access it if that person has the internet?

Answer:is this true?

umm...no. tho it depends if it was a quick format or a full format. a full format completely erases the drive, while a quick just erases the FAT(file allocation table). and even if he did a quick format as soon as anything was saved to the drive, it overwrites what was there. and even if somebody had the time, programs, patience, and nerve to hack into it just to get his files, it would take a while to get the files off. (ive done it before...accidently formatted(quick luckily) so i used this program to get the files off, and now i am listening to music that came form that drive (tho its a little skippy, its there)

Question: How True Is This ?

I found this at Nueber, and just thought I would run it by someone who may be knowledgeable on the subject. Note: Any malware can be named anything - so you should check where the files of the running processes are located on your disk. If a "non-Microsoft" .exe file is located in the C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 folder, then there is a high risk for a virus, spyware, trojan or worm infection!

Answer:How True Is This ?

The problem with that statement is that even guys who have been working on these for years will have a hard time recognizing a non MSN file. If you have good security software you should not have to worry much it should keep bad stuff off your machine.

On a different note! Read varying posts, a lot of good stuff up here. I have been fooling with computers since 1970 and know very little compared to many up here.

Sorry for the double post. I posted this in "networking" but I think it's a software issue after thinking about it.

How can you tell a person's true IP address and if they used a router? Can I see the actually point of origin somehow?

Thanks,
Connie Y

Answer:True IP, how can you tell?

It depends.

In order to find someone's ip, certain things need to happen first. They have to be communicating to you via an app, you're on the same LAN as them, you know their NIC MAC.

Routers and Proxies make this more difficult as they tend to use different methods to alias and mask ip's.

If they are communicating to you via an app ( e.g. MSN ), then you can use a packet sniffer / analyzer to monitor the port and break down the packets to find the source destination.

You do the same for a LAN except it's not as accurate. You can set the sniffer on passive to capture broadcast traffic which will tell you all ips ( as well as packet info ).

With someone's MAC you could basically track anyone anywhere if they aren't behind a protected connection ( router, firewall, proxy ). MAC ID's are the fingerprint of the cyber world.

Question: Is it true?

Is it true that disk defrag can slow down your computer? This has been worrying me recently. Thanks

Answer:Is it true?

No.I defragment my game computer every time I start and everytime I shut down. I also defrag it every time I install or remove a program or  whenever I make a change that involves fragmention of the HDD.I defrag my Internet computer nearly every day. I even run a registry/page file defragger each time the computers boot up.If you have seen the inside of a HDD, you know there there are several platters and one arm which reads these platters. If data is fragmented, the arm has to move further away from the center and has to do this more often. This results in additional stress on the reading arm. I am not quite certain where it places data at the beginning of the disk or concentrates it near the center, either way, the less fragmented data, the more the reading arm can stay in the same area whilst readingIf you defragment the HDD, the data will remain in the center of the HDD and the reading arm has to travel less distance. This results in faster reading and search times. If defragmenting slows down your system after the process is complete, your computer is most likely due to a reformat and you are in for a quick course in maintaining computers.. The software is rarely to blame. Question: Is this true?

Saw it in the Licence Plate thread and wondering if anyone has ever tried it as well.

During Windows installation, Setup queries the system processor to determine the size of the Level 2 cache. However, it doesn't always succeed. When this happens, Setup configures a default setting of 256 KB in the registry.

If your computer has a larger Level 2 cache than Setup configured in the registry, your system won't perform optimally.

To significantly increase the performance of your system, change the value in the registry to match your Level 2 cache.

Here's how:

1. Launch the Registry Editor (Start>>Run>>Regedit.exe)

2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\Memory Management.

3. Double-click SecondLevelDataCache DWORD value.

4. Using the options below, change the value in the Value Data text box
to a number that matches the size of your Level 2 cache. Then click OK.

Level 2 cache >>>> Value Data setting
256 KB >>>>>>>>> 0
512 KB >>>>>>>>> 200
1024 KB >>>>>>>> 400

5. Click OK and close the Registry Editor.

You will need to restart the system or log out of Windows XP for the change to take effect.Click to expand...

I would love to do it, if 1) it is true 2) it is SAFE.

Answer:Is this true?

I remember there being a hack for Win98 or so to do this, to corrct the value of the L2 cache, but I thought it wasn't necessary with 2000 and XP.

Question: Is this true?

Here is the responce i received from asrock after memory compatibility/stability issues. My memory will not run at 1066 mhz even though my mobo and cpu support it.

"Hello,

DDR2-1066 is supported in combination with an AM2+ CPU like you have. The memory controller in integrated in the CPU. And some CPU?s have problems handling memory at DDR2-1066 frequency. I am not sure if there is any difference between using 1 or multiple modules at this frequency.

The [Auto] setting in BIOS automatically chooses a lower frequency to increase compatibility/stability. Normally it is no problem to set it manually to the correct frequency (DDR2-1066, 533 MHz). But probably because the CPU cannot handle it correctly, you get these stability issues.

DDR2-800 setting should be stable.

Best regards,

ASRock Support"

Is there any truth in this?? Or am i being fobbed off

Answer:Is this true?

If it is stability related than it would make sense for it to run it at a slower speed. IF you force it I will assume it doesn't run stable. Besides the difference between 1066Mhz and 800Mhz wont be too noticable. I also just saw that your running 8GN of RAM so that means 4 sticks? That could also be part of the problem. Due to chipset limitations... Bla Bla Bla that could be part of the problem.

Subject: New Microsoft Vulnerability - IMPORTANT

Firstly - A disclaimer - I do not profess to understand any of the computer-speak in the following and I can't offer any more help than posting it here for you to make your own judgement on what you do and how you deal with it.

It appears there is a vulnerability in windows which will allow malicious code to enter your PC through graphics files (pictures).

I found this on another forum and trust the poster to have provided the correct information. All the links seem to suggest that there is a potential problem and Microsoft will not be providing a patch until mid January. There is an unofficial patch included within the following:

Copied from another forum:

Short story: If you use windows, run this unofficial patch file as soon as physically possible, particularly if you use your computer for anything critical (banking, stockmarket, etc). Please pass this information on to your friends.

Question: Could it be true??

I was reading somewhere that you could have a disk with all the updates for XP or vista and when you had to do a reinstall put the disk in..... and you have all the updates. So you did not have to wait for all the updates to get downloaded.

Is this true???

I not talking about slipstreaming. Someone might only have XP with SP1, another with SP2 or someone might have Vista without SP1. It would be a lot quicker to slip in a disk with all the updates. Is there something out there to do that?

Question: Is this true?....

First off, I wanna say that I really didn't know where to put this, so if this is the wrong section, then feel free to move it.

Anyway, I have my moniter really close to my air conditioner, and I heard that the moisture might be able to damage my computer, but the thing is, there really isn't much moisture coming out of my air conditioner. My moniter has never felt like it contained any excess moisture at all. Now, I could see a top of the line air conditioner, then maybe something could happen. But even then, it seems like it really wouldn't be enough to seriously do any damage. It seems like it wouldn't get any more than a wet nap's worth of moisture on it, no?.....

Anyway, I'd really like some information because I really don't wanna have to move this thing. I mean, this is the only really good spot in my room. I really couldn't see it in any other spot.

I don't expect you busy guys to give lessons in burning data to DVDs. I would like a little help though, before I find myself committed.

I was told by one of your colleagues that I could burn a folder to a DVD and work with that folder in every way, just as if it were a folder in my computer. Beautiful!

I just copied a 4.08 Gb folder to a DVD-RW. I was under the impression I could insert the disk and the folder would come in to view. Not so.

When I insert the disk, the light blinks for 5 minutes and then stops. Nothing else happens.

If I go to computer and click on the drive, nine times out of ten, a window opens and ask me to drag files to this folder to add them to the disc. Beautiful! But that's not what I want.

On about the tenth time I click on the drive, it will open the disc to the folder where it looks just as it does on my computer and in fact I can work with it as if it were in my computer.

My question: Is there any way I can insert the disc and get it to open to the folder automatically. I have tried every setting I could find, to no avail.

If this is not possible, is there a way I can go to computer, click on the drive and have it show the folder every time (if I choose), rather than showing it one time out of ten or more?

Answer:Is this true - yes/ no/ maybe?

I have tried changing the colour adminstration within properties to kodakdc and srgb colour space profile but i am still having the same problems.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:Tv out Has No Colour

It could be a PAL/NTSC setting somewhere. Some laptops have a BIOS setting for TVout. If it's set for NTSC and the TV is set for PAL, or vice versa, you will get video issues. I had a an old DVD player that was 'stuck' on NTSC only. When I tried to play a PAL movie in it, it would play in black and white. Check the back of the TV or wherever all the control switches are (or just read the manual). Check the PC BIOS and the TVout settings if using separate video hardware/software....

Good luck!

Hi,

I know some basic stuff about computers, but I don't know how to fix this problem.

I have Windows XP. Firstly, the computer started running slower than usual for a while (a few weeks), then one day when I started the computer up, a screen came up in the DOS bit at the start asking me what mode I wanted to start in as there was a problem. I selected the option (and Im paraphrasing here) 'The last good configuration' as it seemed best. From then on, the colour went to 4 bit, and an 800x600 resolution. I can't change these settings as I normally would, as there are no other options available. I can use the computer fairly normally, except the awful colour and res. However, if the screensaver comes on, and I re-activate the screen, it will be totally messed up - the edges puffed out like a pincushion setting, black and white, lines travelling down the screen and flickering, sometimes going totally black then coming back again.

My housemate started the computer up and somehow got the original DOS screen back asking which mode to start in - he selected 'safe mode' and the colour was then good - except the internet then wouldn't connect. (I have broadband so it's normally automatic - I don't know how to connect it manually)

This is my brother's computer, so I don't know a lot about it - programs and so on - he's un-contactable at the moment and will be for a couple of months... I'd greatly appreciate any he... Read more

Answer:256 colour

Quote from: blackrainbow on June 17, 2010, 08:31:21 AMmobile intel 915 gsm chipsetThe problem most likely lies in this, as the Intel chipsets are not designed for 3D gaming and can't handle the stress. You're probably right, it's not a driver issue, it's a hardware one. It's not a problem, it's just that you've reached the limit to what the Intel video chipset can do.

For images I use both Irfanview and XnView (both great apps) but I want to associate jpgs with Xnview for opening from Explorer. When I double click the photo I get a dialogue box telling me this is not a 32 bit application.

Sure enough - in Display, settings I do not have the choice of 32 bit colour. Can I rectify this?

Running W2K, 800 Celeron, 128 ram, S3 Trio 3D/2X Version 5.30.04 (8 mg shared ), CM1772FS Monitor 17" (New) set at 1024x768, No graphics card.

Many thanks in advance.

Question: Colour changes

I have uninstalled Epson 3490 scanner and installed again but now when I try to scan or click on options the screen goes blank for a second and then colour is changed. When I go into display and settings, colour is back to 8 bit. When I set to 32 it is okay until next time.

Answer:Colour changes

It sounds like a driver problem, do you have the latest drivers? click here

I like using "windguru" for forecasting the weather. Based in the Czech Republic, they're usually spot on which is more than I can say for the local effort.

Until recently I used Netscape 7.2 and subsequent to that Opera vers 11. These both colour coded the wind speeds and gusts and the expected temperatures; you know ranging from blue for cold to red for hot. For various reasons I have had to make use of IE-8. I can't get anything in colour. Temperatures and wind speeds are just black numerals on a white background. I've searched through IE's options but can't find any tweak to resolve this. The URL is www.windguru.cz and I'm running XP home. Can anyone help?

Thanks
