Preferred Solution: Colour Printers Best Buy?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Colour Printers Best Buy?

What do you want the printer for? Are you looking for one to print photos or a more general purpose printer?

Recently my Epson printer has stopped printing yellow. I am using XP pro and have done all the checks and reinstalled the driver, etc. So I took it for a check up at the service centre. In the meantime, I connected my spare Lexmark printer, and guess what? That won't print yellow either. Any help would be appreciated.

Which one to buy? any help on reviews or experience at first hand would be appreciated: things like running costs etc are of obvious importance.I await your comments with the usual bated breath!!

Answer:colour laser printers under £400.00

For £400 my instinct would be to buy a mono laser and a colour inkjet to get the best value for money, though I haven't closely examined the quality and costs of budget-priced colour lasers. There cannot be too many to choose from at that price.

Running Windows XP. Four colour printers of different types are attached via an ethernet network. Sending colour prints to any of them results in only a black/white image being printed, whether it's coloured text or coloured images.

Answer:I can't print in colour on network printers.

The most common cause of that problem is having the wrong printer drivers installed, or the installed drivers have become corrupted and need re-installing.

Hi there gurus.
My pc doesn?t show certain colour objects in Publisher 2007 and some on-line sites. Overall, the screen colour is very good. I know the fault is localised, because when I switch to Print Preview in Publisher it looks fine and I can see all the object colours. (I only lose the colour with objects, not text)
Also, when I send a copy of a Publisher page to my partner who is on the same PC, it looks fine on her screen.
I?ve tried going to Install/uninstall programs and run the Repair, but to no avail. The guys in my computer shop are clueless without seeing it. Anyone who can help solve this for me is a gem.
Cheers!

What's cheaper: colour laser with genuine ink or colour inkjet with compatible inks?

I'm happy to invest in buying a colour laser: but I can't find any refills for lasers
At least they don't seem to be widely available

So, my choice is: colour laser + genuine inks or colour inkjet + compatible inks

From what I know, side by side: laser's are cheaper
But, how about when compared to genuine laser ink to compatible colour inkjet inks?

I should stress that for me needs, I am not overly concerned if using compatibles doesn't give me perfect results - just close as possible is fine for me

What's more important probably is speed of print at highest quality

ANY feedback would be great

Thanks

Answer:What's cheaper: colour laser with genuine ink or colour inkjet with ink compatibles?

Finding Compatible Remanufactured Color Toner cartridges can be dicey. While they may be available, the problem may end up being the company tht does the remanufaturing. It is also dependant upon the model printer you get. I have noticed that the savings on my Black Canon X-25 toner cartridge is only about $12 lower than the cost of a Factory original cartridge. There are sites that I would save up to $30 per cartridge, but part of this is eaten up by the shipping charges. For my toner cartridge, I am about 1/2 mile from the store that does nothing but ink and toner refill services, and their garauntee thier cartridges 100%. In 3 years I have only had to return one cartridge and it was an HP #17 Color cartridge.

Now per page printing cost on a laser is much cheaper than on an inkjet. Though the printer cost itself is usually much higher for a Laser. Personally I use the laser much more than than my Inkjet, but I do use the inkjet for all color printing. But then 95% of my printing is monochrome text.

Hi, I'm using the Aerolite theme with Aeroglass, and want a consistent colour for the borders. So I set accent colour from background 'off' and choose the colour. Fine so far.

Now that's ok if I log off and on.

But if I sleep or hibernate (not personally ) and then resume, the colour and setting are lost.

I noticed that on resuming, the border colour is present until the 'Please wait' screen appears, after which these settings are lost.

Any ideas? Thanks!

This seems to be happening for various printers on various workgroups. Basically, I install a shared workgroup printer on a computer in the workgroup (not the computer it's physically attached to). Then on some login names, in their Printers and Faxes folder I see the same printer but the word "Auto" is in front of it. These often have limited ability to work. But I'm mainly wondering why they show up and how.

Answer:Auto (printername) Printers showing up in XP Printers and Faxes Folder

Windows sensed them on the network and automatically installed them . . it's agrivating that it does that, but it does.

This one's got me totally buffaloed.

I'm the IT Manager for a small consulting firm. Everyone travels, everyone has a laptop joined to the domain. Mostly Dell, but two of them are HP Envy M4s. One of those (originally Windows 8 Pro, now 8.1 Pro) has the weirdest printer issues. We have two shared printers in the office, an ancient Brother HL-5140 monochrome laser and a hotsy-totsy Konica Minolta C35 multifunction color laser. The latter has direct network connectivity but both are shared through host computers (that's what the leasing company recommended).

Of course these were installed on the problematic M4, along with some printers she has at home. For the last several months (maybe since the 8.1 upgrade, I'm not sure) when she brings the computer back into the office the office printers don't work. They have to be uninstalled and reinstalled. But it gets weirder. For the lat month or so when she goes home she cannot connect to her wireless network if those printers are installed. So right now they are not installed. Which is a major PITA for her at work.

I've reinstalled several times, and wiped the system clean of the drivers and everything, and nothing has any effect. The other M4 has no issues.

Hi All
I spend a few hours trying to remove a few printer entries in the "Devices and Printers" directory.
Have followed a few Internet based suggestions without a chance. After reboot, the printers are back again.
I have tried multiple times including through the "Print Management". No matter what I set the default printer, it always comes back, after a restart, to the printer I want to remove.
This is my directory listing.
Like this one, this one and a number of others.
A couple of entries are 'double' entries and the other is an old printer I do not want any longer.
Has anyone of you come across such a painful task?

Thanks

Answer:Unable to remove printers(printers come back after restart)

Some pdf printers hang around until that program is removed.
Now when you put the big green check mark in printer (A) and open program (B)pdf it will shift that big green check mark to printer (B) which is for that program.

The normal method I use to remove a printer is just right click on it and choose remove device.
A long time ago when I had many printers that is the way it worked for me.

I finally came up with a solution to this problem.

No printers were showing up under Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
All printers were visible using print command in any software. I just couldnt set a default printer, remove obsolete printers, etc.

I then found the "Print Management" utility and it solved all my problems.

Ok, I'm probably not the first person to ask about this.
Why on earth, can I not see any of my connected network printers under 'Devices and Printers' of Windows 8? The devices are without question, 100% connected and registered with the OS, as evidenced from their presence within the 'Print Queues' section of
Device Manager, and various software packages, when accessing the 'Print' dialog. I can't even find any evidence of the printers within Print Management! What is going on?

Hi Allhope someone more knowledgable can advise - I recently purchased a Lexmark x500n multifunction colour laser printer - I had a big black print job to do excel and word - 2000 pages - i was shocked to see that - ok the black starter cartridge of 2500 pages was nearly empty- fair enough - but all three colour cartridges (1500 page size) were nearly all empty too - I hadn't done any colour printing but when i contacted the manuf they advised that the printer uses colour also to print black!! - it's getting returned to them - but do do all colour lasers do this - obviously this quadruples the costs of printing and has put my costing out of the window!! - any advice would be great - it's a network colour printer, with copier and scanner that I need - a fax would be great but not essential.thanks in advanceTrifly

Answer:COLOUR LASER - PRINTING BLACK USING COLOUR!!

That would pee me off no end. How in God's name can it use colour to create black when there's a black cartridge in there? A cheapo mono laser seems to be your ideal tool. I know nothing about colour laser printers, but is there an option anywhere in the settings to print using only the black cartridge? Hello.

I seriously need help with my PC. I've reinstalled Windows XP and Service Pack 2, and I can't chnge the Screen resolution or the colour quality. It sucks. The resolution stays at 800x600, the lowest possible, and the colour quality stays at 8 bit. I think I have a ATI 128 MB DDR Radeon 9800 Pro. I dunno whether thats a driver or what. And I also don't know my graphics card, or whether that will help at all.

I would swear at this point but I'm too young.

Oh but I'll use this instead

Has anyone got any help for me that I can understand. I'm 14 but I still can understand most computer talk.

Anyway thanks very much for reading all this crap and please try not to point out all my spelling mistakes.

Heya, welcome to the forums

Okay, it has to do with your drivers. Go to ATI's website and find your driver.

Here's the link

Please download and install both the Control Center as well as the Display driver. Then restart your computer and try to change the resolution.

Hi
I have installed the following printers:
Epson LX-300+II, HP Laserjet 1010, HP Colour Lasterjet 1515, Canon IP5200.

The printers work and are all displayed from Word, IE, etc, but only one printer shows up in Windows 7 Devices & Printers - usually whichever is selected as default printer. If I remove the displayed printer, it shows me another one. When I first installed, it showed me all the printers, but problems started after I had to remove and reinstall my printers.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

As the title says, I have a user's machine here that is displaying some weird behavior. There are multiple printer driver's installed, but only a single HP printer is showing up in Devices and Printers. Printmanagement.msc shows a single printer, but 5 drivers (including PDF, OneNote, etc.). No amount of reinstalling and uninstalling has done a lick of good. I've gone through and uninstalled all the bloat that comes with the multiple printers he had installed in the past, no dice. I've checked the registry (HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Devices and PrinterPorts) and everything appears normal. I've reset the spooler, stopped it, cleared the windows\system32\spool\Printers, restarted, nothing. I've gone through everything I can think of. I really, REALLY don't want to format this machine over a printer issue (especially a virtual printer), but I'm getting to the point where the time i've spent on the task is outweighing the time it would've taken to reimage.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd sincerely appreciate it.

I currently have an inkjet printer and although I am happy with the quality of the printing one thing really annoys me about it.

I very hardly ever use my printer so the ink always drys and needs a deep clean before it will work again. This means that I can use my printers 4 times before I need to buy new cartridges for my printer and as we all know ink is very expensive.

What I was therefore wondering was do laser printers suffer from the same problem of the ink drying out if you don't use them regularly enough or does the ink always stay clear on them.

All your thoughts and opinions as always appreciated.

Regards

AF

Answer:Do laser printers have the same ink issues as inkjet printers?

laser printers don't use ink - they use toner, which is already a dry powder, so it can't dry out any more - if anything, it could get damp, and clump together, but i've never experienced this.

trouble is that laser printers are more expensive than inkjets.

New printers do not display in Windows 8.1 Devices and Printers (no icon):
New Dell, clean install:
- Reinstalled Dell Factory Image
- Updated to Windows 8.1
- Installed Office 2013
- Added BUILT-IN Windows Driver for LaserJet 5P/5MP
- Added Epson driver for Windows 8 64 bit from Epson website
Neither printer shows in Devices and Printers.
Rebooted. Stopped and started print spooler. Checked registry and all printers, including the new ones, appear to be listed in all the correct registry areas.

Open Notepad, select Print, both printers are listed.
Both printers print. When in Notepad, select Print, I can right click on the printer, select properties, and control the printer, print test pages, change drivers and preferences, etc.
The ONLY PROBLEM is the printers do not show in Devices and Printers, so I cannot control them from there. Problem is reported in Microsoft Forums but of course replies are stupid ... like "did you try to reboot?" and "try using a supported driver". In my case the LaserJet driver is a Windows 8 built-in driver.

I have had a problem for a while now and can't figure it out. My main computer which has my printers installed on it now does not show any printers. However, I can see them under "View Workgroup Computers" as they are shared (network) printers. My problem is that I cannot install any printers nor can I see any in the Printers and Faxes. I can print and they show up under printers to select from programs but because I can't see them, I am having trouble updating programs like Adobe. Adobe fails making a reference to the printers.

I checked the print spooler under Services and it is running. I have stopped and restarted it but the "Printer and Faxes" screen is still blank. I have no viruses and have scanned for them with Norton, Trend Micro, and even ran Hijackthis. I tried using a Windows print spooler cleaner but that barfed and would not work.

I tried to add printers via the Microsoft Windows Network and I was told that I did not have administraive priv. to do it. This makes no sens since I am the admin. on my local computer and no settings have changed to cause this type of error message.

Any suggestions?

Control Panel -> Devices and Printers show some printers (PDF995 and Microsoft XPS Document Writer) but it does not show my HP OfficeJet 4500. Applications (like IE or Firebird) show it in the list of printer and can print to it.

Edit: I forgot to mention, I am running in the Administrator account and both the laptop and the printer on the same WiFi router. The printer showed up in Device Manager after I clicked Display Hidden Devices (kind of silly to hide devices from the Administrator.)

Answer:Device and Printers does not see all printers

Hi theoldwizard1,

Navigate to:
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers
Try refreshing the page a few times and see if the printer appears.

If that doesn't work, click 'Add a Printer'. Your computer should open a wizard that will take you through adding a new printer. Select either Local or Wireless printer and then click next. Your computer should then start searching for printers. If it finds the printer, follow the remaining steps until you've installed the printer as a new printer. If it doesn't show up, there should be an option to search for a printer. You can browse your computer, search by name etc.

Try both options and see what happens. Hope that helps.

I've just installed the all-in-one Canon Pixma MG5320 (under Windows 7 64-bit). When I check out Devices and Printers, the printer is listed three times:
Canon MG5300 series Printer
Canon MG5300 series Printer WS
Canon MG5300 series Printer XPS
These three choices also appear when I print anything. Why are there three? Which one should be the default printer? Which one do I choose when printing under what circumstances?
I believe that WS and XPS refer to specific drivers. Why is more than one needed? What are the differences?

Quote from: blackrainbow on June 17, 2010, 08:31:21 AMmobile intel 915 gsm chipsetThe problem most likely lies in this, as the Intel chipsets are not designed for 3D gaming and can't handle the stress. You're probably right, it's not a driver issue, it's a hardware one. It's not a problem, it's just that you've reached the limit to what the Intel video chipset can do.

Hi There,

I have a dell inspiron 6000 with mobile intel chipset 9145. I am trying to play TV out, but whenever i attach it to the TV - i am only getting black and white. I have tried changing the colour adminstration within properties to kodakdc and srgb colour space profile but i am still having the same problems.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:Tv out Has No Colour

It could be a PAL/NTSC setting somewhere. Some laptops have a BIOS setting for TVout. If it's set for NTSC and the TV is set for PAL, or vice versa, you will get video issues. I had a an old DVD player that was 'stuck' on NTSC only. When I tried to play a PAL movie in it, it would play in black and white. Check the back of the TV or wherever all the control switches are (or just read the manual). Check the PC BIOS and the TVout settings if using separate video hardware/software....

Good luck!

Hi,

I know some basic stuff about computers, but I don't know how to fix this problem.

I have Windows XP. Firstly, the computer started running slower than usual for a while (a few weeks), then one day when I started the computer up, a screen came up in the DOS bit at the start asking me what mode I wanted to start in as there was a problem. I selected the option (and Im paraphrasing here) 'The last good configuration' as it seemed best. From then on, the colour went to 4 bit, and an 800x600 resolution. I can't change these settings as I normally would, as there are no other options available. I can use the computer fairly normally, except the awful colour and res. However, if the screensaver comes on, and I re-activate the screen, it will be totally messed up - the edges puffed out like a pincushion setting, black and white, lines travelling down the screen and flickering, sometimes going totally black then coming back again.

My housemate started the computer up and somehow got the original DOS screen back asking which mode to start in - he selected 'safe mode' and the colour was then good - except the internet then wouldn't connect. (I have broadband so it's normally automatic - I don't know how to connect it manually)

This is my brother's computer, so I don't know a lot about it - programs and so on - he's un-contactable at the moment and will be for a couple of months... I'd greatly appreciate any he... Read more

I like using "windguru" for forecasting the weather. Based in the Czech Republic, they're usually spot on which is more than I can say for the local effort.

Until recently I used Netscape 7.2 and subsequent to that Opera vers 11. These both colour coded the wind speeds and gusts and the expected temperatures; you know ranging from blue for cold to red for hot. For various reasons I have had to make use of IE-8. I can't get anything in colour. Temperatures and wind speeds are just black numerals on a white background. I've searched through IE's options but can't find any tweak to resolve this. The URL is www.windguru.cz and I'm running XP home. Can anyone help?

Question: Epson colour 440

I got brand new printer gave m e but no one could find driver disk so i downloaded it but my printer just prints lines of non sense and in all different colours but wont print it wont print a word pad doc and wont print from dos either plz help very confuzed beginner

Answer:Epson colour 440

Sounds like you downloaded the wrong driver.

On their Windows driver page (assuming you're using Windows) there are several options.

If you're using WinXP, the only WinXP applicable file listed is actually a Monitor utility, but it does not state that it includes the driver (never safe to assume anything).

But if you are using WinXP, it already has many printer drivers included.

Try this:

Right-click My Computer
Select Manage option
Select Device Manager
In right pane, expand [+] Printers
Select your new printer
Uninstall the printer
Reboot your system and see if WinXP automatically loads the driver
This means WinXP already had the correct driver.

If this does not work... Is your printer "new" to you (used from someone else)?

If it is actually store-bought new, it should still be under warranty. Go through the store or Epson and get the CD you are missing.

Satellite Pro L20 PS25E with Intel 915 mobile videocard is connected to PAL TV and gives only bw picture. Settings set to PAL BG in videocard, still only B&W picture. Other forums say this card ALWAYS give NTSC picture and cannot produce PAL coulour. Is this true?

Hope not, as I bought three laptops of this type and was wanting to connect these to tv's throughout the home. Any help appreciated;)

Answer:Satellite Pro L20 - No colour on TV

Hi retrieber_1,

Usually if you only get a black & white picture it?s a wrong output setting of your notebook. I think it?s something wrong with PAL and NTSC settings.
At first you should update the display driver. Newest driver you can download from Toshiba page.

And what cable you are using for this connection? S-VHS cable?
If yes test another cable. Use a high quality cable, especially if you have a pretty long cable.

You'll probably have to reinstall the video drivers and the monitor driver if Windows hasn't picked it up.

Question: colour printer

Hi
I just printed out a colour photo using the HP PSC2410. I discovered that if a drop of water falls on it, it wipes away the color off the picture, in other waords it is a temporary print. is there any way i could make the prints permananet or am i using the wrong paper(HP glossy print) or am i using some temporary ink(HP supplied as well).

Answer:colour printer

quite common. your printing with ink...most ink will rub if you drop water on it. write on a peice of paper and it will do the same. However, on most photo quality paper, the ink pretty much stays on there if water gets on there. If you want to print out a photo and make sure nothing wrecks it, you can buy stuff to coat them. Or you could just shove it in an album/frame so no water will ever get on it

Answer:30 bit colour support

Total speculation but I think it's possible as the external ports are driven by the NVIDIA card, which isn't limited as the Intel card is.2560x1440 at 30bpp at 60Hz may be hitting a bandwidth issue even for DisplayPort.

is there anything i can do about this? i was thinking maybe getting a spare pin from another cable and stuffing it in or something.

Hi there - I'm trying to print out a document using colour separation in Publisher and or Serif Pageplus...I can print in colour normally, but when I try to print to Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black all I get is black and white printouts of varying magnitide. Only the composite looks and prints out in colour. Is this what I should be expecting?

Answer:Colour Separation (again)

What you are getting are the instructions for colour separation printing machines - as used by larger scale commercial printers. These printers operate by inking the sheet in three (or four) separate processes each process using a different colour - CYM(K). Traditionally, these separations were for preparing silk screens and there was no requirement for colour information within the file. So, if you are trying to print these separations on a normal SOHO printer, there is no instruction in the files for them to be printed in any other colour than black. On a computer controlled colour spearation printer, the instruction for the separation print normally readable only with specific software.Do you have a good reason to print in colour separation? If not, I would leave well alone because without appropriate equipment i.e. at least a colour separation printer, you could end up in a real mess and very confused.

Open Control Panel and check to see if there an exclamation mark agains your graphics card (Display Adaptor). If there is, one possible cause could be that the card needs new drivers. To do this go to Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware (tab)/ Device Manager.

For a while now ive noticed that my games don't appear to be running in 32 bit colour mode. I notice in particular when a texture uses a range of shades from a single colour (e.g. dark blue to light blue), where you can see a 'banding' effect and doesn't look smooth as it should.

I've tried switching between 16 and 32bit colour and it doesnt appear to make any difference in games (using the game setup menus), they both look exactly the same. I've tried doing the same on my desktop (Windows), and you can clearly see a difference between the 2 colour ranges. So I don't seem to have any problems in 2D enviroments, just 3D (games in this case).

I've looked through the settings in the graphics card setup (Anti aliasing/texture filtering options etc), and I cant see anything that would related to this problem, i.e no colour mode options.

I've tried running games in different resolutions and updating my graphics card drivers, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

I really have no idea what to do next.

Any help would be great.
