I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Comments on website please

The sound jumping out of the first site was a bit of a surprise! but otherwise very proffesional looking. The second also good, but the third one a bit 'wordy' and some may not like the cursor thingy. On the whole well done.(from just a 'bloke in the street' point of view)

It's in the FE's favourite font, anywayclick hereI know some will say Publisher is not very good, but it's all I can master. I keep nibbling away at Serif WebPlus 8, but I think I'll have to go to night school to use that!

Answer:Website for comments, please

Thanks, I don't know where that character is coming from, I can see it, but it's not on the design page. The Feral Cats link should work, you have to scroll down. I don't know why that gap has appeared.

Taken the plunge and have tried to create a simple site for my village. It is written in XHTML Strict using HTMLgate Free. I would like to avoid using Javascript. There is still lots of work to do and would greatly appreciate your views, criticisms and advice. The site can be viewed here click hereI would like to have some drop-menus possibly using this tutorial click here; find a way to use thumbnails and let the user click and expand; use mailto-encrypter on the 'Contact Us' page and avoid image hotlinking using click here.I do hope you can help. Many thanks

Answer:New website, comments please

I don't think you need worry too much about hotlinking! :)The header graphic needs to be higher resolution."Please let me know if you would like to submit an image to this gallery." should possibly have the mailto: link on the "please let me know" rather than "submit an image"....

I sincerely hope that if it is going live you will refrain from using/allowing those somewhat 'insulting' ads; and I think this may be a spamming thread; though willing to be proved wrong

I would like opinions and comments on the design/navigation of the following website:click hereNow, I realise it's a bit adverty at the moment, but I'm cleaning that up and intergrating that more. Please don't comment on the content as it's yet to be revised. I can't post the old website because the name of it violates the forum rules. FE will probably remember which one I'm talking about. But, what I will be interested to hear is what you'd like to see on there? Downloads maybe?Let me know any thoughts at all! Thanks.

If any one is willing to help develop the website, I'm more than open to offer this. With possible goodies involved.. ;-)

I have just put up my first website and can already see there is room for improvement e.g. pages with a lot of thumbnails take a while to load and I think I should break them down into more manageable sizes.I would appreciate any comments or criticisms anyone might have on the style or layout. The address is click here

Answer:My first website - comments welcomed

Thank you for your comments, fourm member. I agree with everything you say. Using NOF8 photo gallery meant that a lot of the basic design was already done for me but that also means I can't alter some things I don't like. For example, I would have liked to use a simpler border for the thumbnails, but it's then impossible to tile them evenly across the page.I like the facility to scroll through the larger images, but dislike the fact that if the images are centred, the scroll arrows move around depending on whether the image is portrait or landscape.I'm not sure how to resolve the issue of the black area to the right of the table. Personally, I can't stand websites that require me to scroll to the right to see the whole page and if the 'favourites' column is showing and the table were centred, then scrolling would be needed. Now that I have an idea about the basic concepts, I can have a go at designing something to meet our specific needs.I will pass on your compliments to my husband re the photos. I can't take credit for them - I'm just the tripod holder (and sometimes the tripod!). Iceland has some spectacular scenery so it's not too difficult to find subjects to photograph.

Hi allI have still to make final alterations but wonder if I please may have your feedback on this site click here? My wife says it looks amateurish and though the design is not mine and has some positive feedback, your comments on the content and its layout or anything else would be helpful.I really struggled to format the login and register pages without losing PHP functionality and gave up in the end.Feel free to register and login using fictitious details and use the contact us tab if you wish. Many thanksSteve

Answer:eBook website - comments please

Very clean and uncluttered. you have some advetising images at the bottom of the page, can these go under the ones on the right and made smaller. Some kind of logo at the top which will always link to the homepage would enhance the top of each page.Remove the faint table border on the left of page and perhaps apply a border to the images.Avoid BOLD print unless it is important. On FAQ's add a bookmark 'back to top' this avoids scrolling.

Hi, i have just finished coding this website and it is current sitting on a test section on the website while it is well.. tested. I just wondered whether you had any thoughts and contructive critism about the design. I have written quite a few websites before but find that by having someone else looking at the site they will pick up something i will have likely missedthe site is.....click here

Answer:please give your comments on my website!

although it does rather remind me of a popular web forum software - it's the blue colour I think.I'm an advocate of small font sizes for web sites - I hate seeing pages with all 10 or 11 point text, but I wonder if in your case it might be an idea to snitch the font up a point - at least until you have more content? It's not a big thing, but some of the text looks a little lost on an otherwise empty space.Perhaps if you had a few more images it would improve the look, and tend to help hold readers on the pages? These aren't major design flaws - you've done a good job - but maybe there's room for a little tweaking now, especially where images are concerned. A nice picture of the church itself on your homepage wouldn't go amiss, and one of the interior would be good too - especially if your church is an older building with stained glass etc.

Answer:Wanted - a few comments to improve website

Re: the org.uk site.Hit counters. Don't get me started - I hate them and it serves no use to tell the world how many [or how few] visitors you have had. Accurate statistics are a feature of most web host accounts so the page hit counter serves no purpose and takes up page real estate that could be better used.Your initial site homepage is a little curious since it leads, in turn, to the site home page. One observation I would make here is that first impressions count and, as such, your homepage should be the first one people see and it should have impact. I don't think you are doing yourself any favours by saying "This is us - click here to visit out home page".Now I'm going to get picky:On your home page [the second one] the link at the top of the main frame content page that read "LemonAid 2004 Photo's" is lost to my eyes because of the colour scheme used on that link. It looks at first glance like emphasised text and not an actual link. This could be down to my colourblindness but there we are.The font on your flash buttons on the "Intro & Booklet" and "Contacts & Links" buttons is nudging at the button borders. This may seem extremely fussy but I always think a minimum space should wrap all text on all button or some end up looking cramped while others with les text or smaller words can look a little bare.Your "Lottery" link loads up one of the longest pages I've seen for quite a while. It has an awful lot of content and the large empty spaces used to break each item up o... Read more

Answer:website finally onlien, comments please

If you look at your site "online" in Firefox or Opera then the images don't display. If I download a page and its images then look at on my local machine then they do.I have noticed that all of the pages I have checked have two closing tags for the head section </head> </head> and I feel that this may be the cause.

Hi all.

I am using WebEasy Professional 6 to design my website. I have inserted a form on my 'contact us' where clients can submit comments, however these comments display in html format when I view it in my inbox (Microsoft Outlook). Does anyone have any suggestions to correct this? Thanks!

Answer:Form on website displaying comments in html

Greetings, BexBomb.

Sounds like you've got something missing, most likely a bracket. Look for code similar to this:

<form>yada yada</form

Notice the missing > after the second "form".

If you can't find the culprit, post the address and I'll take a look at it, or you can validate the page at w3.org which should show any HTML mistakes on the page.

Hi, just come across this File Metadata (free) which I think will interest you- seems very competent in tagging files.
At the bottom I've added a note about StyleFolder (free), which adds comments to folders.

If you want to add comments, tags, metadata to files, this is for you.
In some places it refers to XP and Vista, but is maintained and current for '10.

File Metadata - Download File Meta 1.3

What this package does is wire together pieces that were built into Windows in readiness, but never joined up: it connects Explorer's ability to see and edit metadata with NTFS's support for storing property data in an annex to any file, and so allowing metadata to be added to files of any type. And because Windows Search uses the same property system hooks as Explorer, you can also search using this metadata, both in Explorer and from the Start Menu (or Search charm). That all this takes just a 19K DLL (64-bit, release build) and some registry settings tells you how close Microsoft got.

One reason why Microsoft never shipped the complete solution is that all works well when the file is moved around between NTFS drives, but the metadata is lost when a file is, say, emailed, or moved to a FAT file system. Also, if your fil... Read more

Hi all,
I'm using Acronis True image v11 home, and it's VERY good at it's disk image backing up; helped me numerous times while setting up a dual boot on my laptop.

When i create the backups, it asks for an optional comment, so you can identify the backups later on. I always made good comments, but now i have numerous backups, i've just realised I don't actually know how to view those comments?!

If anybody knows how to, please give instructions!

Thanks,

Without content there really isn't much anyone could say.The layout is not to my own personal tastes but it could be an entirely different story if the content of the site relates in any way to it and vice versa.A layout can be made [or broken] by its content and the same holds true in reverse, so I'd like to see a little more before commenting too heavily on it.

I also designed it so theres lots or room left for upgrades to turn it from, performance to high-end. I included weblinks so u can get a more detailed analyses.

Answer:New Rig, need comments!

I'd pay more for a better branded PSU, such as Hiper or Antec - cos that thing will be noisy and won't last as long.

I'd spend more on your memory too, that seems overly cheap.

Windows cannot take advantage of that much RAM no matter what you do. You will only get full advantage from it if you run Linux/Unix.

One room in my house which is not used a lot, contains a PC which is also very seldom used. I switched it on today and found that if I pressed the button for DVD the drive, the drive opened, then half closed. I assumed that because the room was unheated, this was a possible reason. I left the heater on in that room for half an hour or so. Then I found that if I opened the drive and held it open while I pressed the button again it started to work properly again. The strange thing is that another machine in the same room refused point blank to open its drive until the room was a bit warmer!Everything sems o.k. now, so should I put it down to temperature [lack of it] or can anyone suggest another cause?

Hi,

I'm a complete novice at technical stuff, so I need some hand-holding and patience. A reader of my website has recently informed me that my "website contains an "HTTP Malicious Javascript Encoder" from brasilianstoree.info. It was blocked by our systems, but it is very nasty and could harm others."

I also discovered today that when my website loaded, it was redirected to AskLots.com, and I think this may be part of the problem. I also think my ftp server was compromised due to an error with WordPress. I was getting a WordPress admin error that my wp-content/backup-db file might be visible to the public, and so it took me a while, but I found the solution to fix that. Having said all this, I'm still getting the site re-direction to AskLots.com. I've run AVG full scan, SpyBot, MalwareBytes, etc., etc., etc., but nothing is found. I've even searched my ftp files for "aff.php" after reading another forum's discussion about the same thing, but it found nothing. I just now downloaded and run Hijack This, and here is my log:

Answer:Website has been hacked by a HTTP Malicious Javascript Encoder, Website redirection

The HIJACKTHIS output from your machine most likely has nothing to do with this problem. There is no virus, your site has been hacked. The "infection" is on the webserver.

WordPress has exploits discovered every couple months, and if I assume correctly, you have not been updating it when a new version comes out. The hackers have used one of the exploits to upload a .asp script or something similar which then edited your page, causing the redirects. Obviously, I (nor anyone else here) can be 100% sure what the problem is without further information.

Your best bet is to install the newest version of wordpress, use some "wordpress-hardening" guides that are out there to make it less susceptible to hackers, and then convert and migrate your existing database to the newest version if it can be salvaged.

To whom it may concern:My comp has been acting strange for several weeks now. Windows date and time are messed up and refuse to stay corrected when i do fix them. The time and date are always correct but the year constantly reverts back to 2005 after i continuously change it to 2008. Because of this many different websites are not compatible with my IE because they have date sensitive certificates and my IE doesn't like them. I get asked about 5 times per site if it is okay to proceed and it is very annoying. Also I cannot do any online banking because the transactions are date sensitive. Is this a virus/trojan/bug/etc? or is this a hardware issue. My problem sounds very much like a post by Pinky Smalls at this link. I followed his/her protocol and still have had no luck clearing the issue. I tried synchronizing with internet time, but it keeps giving me and error that it is unable to connect. I have already tried replacing my motherboard battery with no help. Perhaps its time for a new mobo? or do you think it is a virus? I'd rather not end up like this guy once i put a new mobo in and infect that one too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. -dodsong

Links to websites, either from emails or from shortcuts pinned to my PC desktop's task-bar have suddenly been directed to Google Chromes search page. There are four icons pinned to the task-bar that work;Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Google Earth and Windows Live Mail all of the rest, such as Facebook, Ancerstry.com YouTube and others now default to the Google Chrome search page.

I have run numerous anti-virus scans all of which have not picked up anything sinister.

The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. I am not a IT tecky but should be able to follow straight forward instruction, if anyone has any ideas on this problem.

I have a website that I made with Front Page 2000.

What I need now is a free website hosting site that supports Front Page extensions.

Also the hosting site must not add add banners to my site/pages. Or at least the banner should be as small as possible at the top of the page.

I have been searching different hosting sites, but most do NOT support Front Page extensions on their servers.:dead:

I need to find a free hosting service that supports FP 2000 extensions.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi folks,

I started having this problem sometime in the latter part of 2014. While reading my medical journals and moving on to the next article, the fbi website pops up and supplants my medical journal website. I have to close and log in to my medical website all over again. Sometimes, even that does not work and I cannot get back to my original website anymore on that day. It happens to my PC laptop, my wife's Macbook and even a brand new Macbook Air that I tried out. For some strange reason, it only happens at home on all 3 computers. I don't get this problem reading my Journals in the Hospital where I work. Interestingly, when I go to the park away from my house and activate the mobile hotspot on my handphone and do my journal reading there, it does not happen.( not yet anyway).
I would like to attach a picture of the fbi website for you but I don't see any paperclip icon on the toolbar.

I would really appreciate any help anyone can provide on this matter.

Thank you

Your page will load faster without it.The top of the page is good, kept simple with key info on top, dont change that. All in all it is a good site. Well done.

Question: Youtube Comments

\is there anyway to put them back as they were, nested as replys?

Its so hard to go read comments, and just have a huge string of comments, then have to try and figure out whos replying to what.

thanks

Answer:Youtube Comments

I've actually looked into the (just a little) myself, and, honestly the only "Solution" I can find is, well, none at all. All the discussions generally end up calling youtube and google crap and how most people could code better with a screaming Chimpanzee ripping out their eyes while they are eating pop-rocks trying to sleep. Or, something along those lines. (and yes, I really did link pictures to those words...)

All I have heard so far is that, it helps (a little bit) when you are viewing all comments, but even that is not really a solution.

I've been using vista ultimate x64 with these specs:

Intel E2180 OC'd to 3.1 Ghz
4gb a-data ram
gigabyte P35 DS3L

Question: Comments Required

Hi,

I have written some instructions on how to harden/lock-down Windows XP Home edition. And would greatly appreciate it if you all can comment on it. It is not complete as yet, and I will add more content as comments come in. In particular, I would like to know if any of my recommended components to disable are needed for regular functioning of XP and thus should not be disabled. ( Like, for example, I just discovered that the DCOM Server service is required in order for Windows Update to run ).

The intended audience is a XP Home edition user, who uses the computer to surf and play games. So features needed to, for example, run an Apache web server are not considered and the lock-down will probably make it not work.

Before any of you ask why I disabled Limited User accounts from running many command line tools. Let me explain that, in line with a Least Privilege configuration / hardening, anything that you don't use regularly should not be made available. Because any attacker that compromises your account will have access to them. And those tools will be used against you. For example, some attacker just managed to open up a command prompt to your machine, the next thing he would do is to bring over his tools. For that, he could use the command line FTP program. Most people use the browser to do FTP transfers and probably aren't even aware that there is a command line FTP tool on their system. So again, if it is not used, it should be disabled.

Hey guys I am fixing to go to college and have of course been looking at laptops. I really only need something that can last a long time and run moderately fast. I am bringing my desktop to college, so gaming on this will not be necessary.

I have had the most trouble in deciding which brand of laptop to buy.

Anyways, I have found the HP dv6700t and it seems alright, but didn't know if anyone had experience with this series or HP in general.
Also, any other suggestions would be great.

Specs:
Vista Home Premium 32bit
Intel Core 2 duo 2.0ghz
15.4" screen
2gb ddr2 667mhz
Integrated graphics
160gb hd 5400rpm
6 cell lithium battery
and the rest is just the normal stuff

Answer:HP dv6700t, any comments?

Hello,

Asus has some great laptops. HP are good as well. Dell have some good ones as well even though many hate Dell. I love my Inspiron 1501.

But from the looks of the specs that laptop will do just fine. Are you going to be gaming or anything on it? If so you might want to find a laptop with a dedicated GFX card. Integrated doesnt do so well with games.

Same for GFX intensive apps like Photoshop. but if you are going to use it for mostly Office, Internet and school stuff this will be fine.

Cheers,
Mak

Answer:Time for some Comments please

No need to apologise fourm member, I know you mean well.I have addressed may of the points you brought up but I can't see any trailing 'C' after the closing </html> tags on I presume the home page or the about page. Galleries will slow down once 'new' images arrive. That of course is all up to the photographer as is the actual choice of images. I am aware I have some responsibility for them, but I have decided to limit that to number of images rather than the actual images. Thanks for the info.

I'm thinking about buying a Panasonic SDR-H60 60 GB Hard Drive Camcorder with 50x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom for $325 that lists for $549. It's new.

Read one review that said the pic on his tv was horrible, and another that said he really liked the camera except that there was a little audio noise. Most reviews were positive, considering the price for the class. Anyone here have any ideas? Other camcorders?
I wanted the 60GB harddrive, so that I can put it on my computer without a lot of hassels. I already have a Sony HDV/DV switchable full HD 1080. My complaint is that it uses tapes which in the long run becomes expensive, and there's a bit of a hassle getting it on the computer.

Thanks for any input.

Answer:Any comments on a Camcorder?

If you don't want tape, have you considered a Flash camcorder rather than a disk drive version. These record mainly to SD digital camera cards which make them even more versatile.

You can simply remove the card after shooting footage and place in a card reader and transfer video files to PC for editing. Some models you might consider are Panasonic SD9, Canon HF100 both are High Definition or perhaps the Panasonic S7 if you just want DVD quality.

This is the future and preferable to a fixed hard disk which could be troublesome if a fault develops. Anyway there are other Flash camcorder models worth investigating. Hope this helps

A friend of my brother's has just made herself a website to promote herself (she's a singer). Of course she wants some opinions on it so I'm throwing it out for you good people to make comments.click here

Answer:Web site for comments

Site is too plain. Needed are a better navigation structure, a link in the e-mail to open the viewers mail prog instead of sending them off site to Wannadoo??? The pictures section. All pictures send you back to homex.html but they should be linked to larger pictures. I got bored very quickly having to come back in from the main page. This site looks as if it were thrown together in 5 minutes. A lady of the talent implied should not rely on something so basic. My humble opinion as given.

Hi.I have been making sites on FP2003 for a few years but always like to use the HTML style more than the PHP scripting and Nuke etc..Like some feed back on this site click here I know its a fair old name but I am still in development on the site and areas to be made and revised ready for my lauch. I am not going to rush to process has this is going be a part time business for me and I dont want to get anything wrong which can/will put potential customers off... so your early feed back would be grateful.Thanx

Answer:Comments on this Project please

The grammar and phrasology needs some work. This is important for any serious website, but particularly so for one that advertises a business or service. The first paragraph alone contained enough errors to make me think twice about reading any further.I'm sorry if this seems at all harsh, but you did ask for critical appraisal.

Question: Comments Forms

Hi everyone, Im back again looking for help in another aspect of my sites programming. As I have been learning HTML from scratch without books and getting as far as I feel quite a way further on and to the point where I have developed the skills I want to have in it I wish to try something a bit more exciting on my pages. I would like to add a comments box to my galleries so people can interact and comment on my photos. I have PHP Version 5.1.6 active on the server and understand that to make a comments form add a comment to a page PHP or PERL are ideally needed to do it. Can anyone either link me to a comprehensive guide or explain in simple terms to someone that is new to all this how I would go about adding a very simple comments form where a user can add a comment and their name and the comment be added to the page with the date? As I say I have never done anything as fancy as this before, and this is the first time I have been editing purely without messing about with WYSIWYG editors. So simple is probably best.Cheers for any help.

Answer:Comments Forms

Well, there's a character limit and it's 2am, so I'm not going to explain this in full....Unless you would prefer to receive comment submissions by e-mail (PHP) for prior approval, your PHP content filtering will need to be thorough. That much is quite easy anyway -- basically the same as what you would add to filter bad content out of an e-mail submission. The web is full of tutorials about using PHP to generate updated HTML output -- some are quite good, while others are frankly pretty awful at explaining it. I suggest that you invest in a couple of good books, preferably from the O'Reilly and Sitepoint ranges.

Hello everyone.

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=12366312

That is the build I will be putting together sometime either around Black Friday or Christmas, whichever time people recommend to get the best discounts.

I'm looking for comments on:

The build as a whole
The power supply
The case
The hard drives
The video card
Will the Zalman CPU cooler work with that motherboard?

My plan is to use the 10k RPM drive for the OS and nothing else. The 4 1TB drives will be my data drives: 2 in a RAID1 array for general data, 2 for my DVD collection.

Am I missing anything that I should order with this build (cables, etc.)? I already have 2 monitors and some speakers I'll be using with this. I also already own the CPU (got it 50% off elsewhere), but added it to the wishlist for reference.

Question: Longhorn Comments

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,1356731,00.asp

is an appitite wetter.

Hopefully MS will listen if we get their attention soon enough.
Observations:
1) More eyecandy is cool, too bad it is not used to speed up the tasks. There are bigger and more detailed Icons instead of easier more powerful controls.
2) No improvements planned in the actual secruity problems, just more control of the data flow. Which means MORE vulnerability not less.
3) DX9 required for the full interface (nVidia owners need not apply unless nVidia makes a new card)
4) Task oriented OS may be a good idea. Is this close to Open Doc that Apple was forced to abandon by MS? Only without the advanced plug ins that made it so productive?

More to love? More to hate?

Answer:Longhorn Comments

I have to say that I'm slowly starting to see a bit of light in Longhorn. However, I still think that I will endeavor to make the switch fully over to Linux by the time that Longhorn gets out. They're predicting 2006, so I've got plenty of time to learn and adapt.

I believe that Microsoft has made the conscious decision to make an OS that will appeal to the masses. What is unsaid there, but implied, is that it is not designed to appeal to the desires of the advanced computer users. Hence, pretty animations, less powerful controls, more control over what you can and can't do with your computer and with the data on your computer. Don't get me wrong, I still think that Longhorn will completely change the look of home computing and will be relevant for the large majority of IT professionals, it's just that Microsoft is making a product for those of us who don't want to bother or have the time to use an advanced Linux based OS.

I think that it is very likely that Longhorn will launch with DX10. Two and a bit more years is plenty of time to get there, and it makes sense to have a whole new DX when you're designing a whole new way to compute.

IMHO, Windows XP is their best OS. It is user friendly, stable and powerful. It doesn't cross the line into controlling your computer. Longhorn will beat the snot out of XP in terms of ease of use for new and non-advanced users, will be faster and more powerful at certain applicat... Read more

Looking to buy a external HDD after a lot of self thinking and looking around I figured the WD Elements HDD would do what I need done (create and store disk images and clones) my only concern now is I was wondering is it as much of a heat trap as everyone on Newegg is saying? Or are they doing something wrong with it like leaving it on top of a radiator?

Answer:Looking to buy a WD Elements Ex HDD and looking for comments on it.

If you want to avoid the heat trap, the best choice is to make your own external drive using a 3.5" drive and a fan-cooled external enclosure. If you must have a USB powered 2.5", you can do the same thing with an aluminum case which will still dissipate heat better than WD's plastic enclosures.

Get a WD Black Series internal drive for this. Although they cost a few more bucks, they come with a five year warranty and seem to be the most reliable.

For a 3.5" setup:

For a 2.5" setup:

New laptop running Vista Home Basic came bundled with trial version of MacAfee. Was not to happy with it. Seemed intrusive and to be a resource hog. The trial period expired today. Uninstalled it and am now running Avast. Seems to be working good and computer seems to be running faster. Anyone have any opinions on Avast (on Vista or other OS) that they wish to share?

Answer:Any comments on Avast! ?

i recommend avast to all my contacts as a good free easy to use anti-virus

You will find another very good antivirus is nod32 and gets lots of recommendations here - but its not free.

another free program is AVG - but I have found that my friends and family (who no nothing and do not want to know anything about PC's ) have trouble with the upgrade process and often install the full version.... But that may have changed these days...

Question: Spybot Comments

Based on some discussion on another thread I'd be interested in opinions on the portable version of Spybot.

Answer:Spybot Comments

I can't give an opinion on anything but the main version, but...

As a malware scanner it's not so great. It used to be very good but it's been surpassed. It will find some things other programs miss but not much, and it takes a long time to run- I can quick scan with MBAM and SAS in less than 5 minutes per program, whereas Spybot only does full scans and it does so by going through a malware list instead of scanning files like other programs do. Maybe this catches certain things better but it's a slow scan to get through almost 900K malware definitions.

However, I do find its immunizations helpful and the program should be installed for them. Between Spybot's immunizations and NoScript I haven't had an infection in some time, and a lot of what was hitting me did so through Firefox but not since I immunized. The only drawbacks have been Firefox taking a bit longer to start(maybe 3-5 seconds as opposed to instant to get the home page to load) and some websites with a check box to keep me logged in do not seem to do so for some reason, but they're minor as worth it to avoid being hit by something.

Alright i have a little project i'm planning to do. I want to transfer all of my VHS to DVD threw my computer. I own a Radeon 9200se and i'm a fairly good computer user. i build computers on a pretty good bases. I have a dvd burner obviously but i need a way that i can transfer/connect a VHS onto my computer. I'm shooting for $50 at the max. All i need is a way to connect my VSR to my computer to send the video information to my hardrive. i need a program suggestion and a way to transfer audio and data to my PC. Any help would be HIGHLY appreciated. thank you Also if u have any links please send it to my email address [email protected] i know this isn't an easy one to answer if ur not already accosiated with this kind of work.

Answer:expert comments only please

Check out www.newegg.com they have some pretty nice PCI capture cards for less than $50

That's what you need, and then you can plug in your VCR either by Coax or RCA (yellow, white, and blue) which would give you the best image quality (RCA) then you can play the movie on your VCR and capture the video to your hard drive through the capture card. Once you have the video file, probably .avi, just burn it to a DVD like you would any other movie.

Hi all,Just wanted to know if this is possible. I have a large excel file, some 1300 records in horizontal rows. Heres what I want to do. I want two columns, one with months, the other with 1st week, 2nd week etc. Im going to create a calendar-like overview page, with a cell for each week in a month etc. When I select say 'Sept' and '3rd week', I want vba to make a cell comment in that overview sheet on the cell that covers that week with the contents of column A.Example: on sheet 2 i have a record. Column A is J Bloggs, Column B is anytown etc etc. Column E is month, column f is week. When i select sept and 3rd week in their respective columns, I want it to create a comment in the cell on sheet1 representing the 3rd week in sept.possible? Many thanks

Answer:making comments from vba

re: possible?Yes!If you place this code in the Sheet2 module, it should get you close. It's mainly to show you that comments can indeed be added to cells on one sheet based on the selection of certain cells on another sheet. As written, if places the comment in Sheet 1, Column A, in the same row as the cells selected in Sheet 2, Columns E & F, assuming those are the only 2 cells that are selected. In order to place the comment in the cell representing a given month/week, we would need to know the connection between the selected cells on Sheet 2 and the "calendar cell" in Sheet 1. In other words, how would we find the corresponding cell on Sheet1 when "Sept" and "3rd week" are selected?Try this code and see what you think.Note: As written the code will replace an existing comment if one already exists in the cell.Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)
On Error Resume Next
'Have 2 cells been selected?
If Target.Cells.Count = 2 Then
'If yes, were the cells in Column E & F?
If Target.Cells(1).Column = 5 And Target.Cells(2).Column = 6 Then
'If yes, add comment to cell on Sheet1 using data from Sheet2!A(same row)
Sheets(1).Cells(Target.Row, 1).AddComment
Sheets(1).Cells(Target.Row, 1).Comment.Text _
Text:="user_name:" & Chr(10) & Sheets(2).Cells(Target.Row, 1)
End If
End If
End Sub

I typically stay away from overclocking, but decided to have some fun with my current cpu (Athlon64 3700+ San Diego) before I take the plunge and get a dual core CPU.

I also added two more sticks of 512mb to get myself up to 2Gb of memory.

First off, when I installed the additional 2 sticks my system automatically underclocked the ram to 166Mhz. I know that this is fairly common with the AMD memory controller, but I didn't think that I would be affected. I had it in my head that since my CPU is rev E4 that I would not be affected.... anyways....

I cranked up my CPU frequency to 2.75Ghz and I am not hitting more than 45c at full load (stock cooling). This OC also brought my ram almost back up to 200Mhz (with the divider) as well.

HTT: 250Mhz
Multiplier: 11
Core Speed: 2.75Ghz
1.472v
FSB/DRAM: CPU/14

A8N-SLI deluxe motherboard.
4sticks of 512mb 400Mhz PC3200 (samsung original)

Any OC junkies out there that have comments on this?

Answer:Any comments on this overclock?

Ooh that's a nice OC. BTW, wouldn't getting the FX55 San Diego for $199 be a better bet than getting a dual-core X2? Would give better performance in games at least.
